They don't take reservations, but for a Saturday night the wait was not bad. We were a group of 8 and we waited less than 20 minutes. Service was good. Food was good. The only complaint was our son ordered the Godfather. Two out of the three different items was not very good. We did not like the fettuccine Alfredo, but the veal parmigiana and ravioli were tasty. The Alfredo was more like gravy. Other than that no complaints. I ordered the Goodfella and shared it with my ten year old. It consists of chicken parmigiana, beef lasagna, and stuffed shells. This is more than enough food. I really like this location. It's still nice and new looking.

Awesome service and super quick. The Italian nachos are amazing and the pizza is great too. I think the Italian nachos have the green chili mixed in the cheese...definitely a must try! We sat outside on a stormy summer night and it was a really nice relaxing setting. We have been looking for our go-to place and I think this might be it :)

Excellent dining area, clean and the wait staff was attentive. The family really liked the pizza and my wife loved the spinach salad. I enjoyed the baked lasagna. I would recommend this place to anyone.

So disappointed. We used to come here a lot, just moved back and tried again. I had just basic spaghetti with meatballs. The pasta was mushy and slimey and they dumped two cups of sauce on the "pasta." My wife had salad, she sent it back. It was all wilted and brown. My son just had plain pasta no sauce and that was dried out and hard. We didnt have drinka and the bill was still over 40 bucks and server was still trying to charge for salad that was returned!. Unfortunately, I don't think we will go back.

I have been to this place a couple of times. It's not bad. But it could be a lot better. I ordered pizza here today. I was told it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. 50 minutes later I rode out with my pizza. It was fine. It was unremarkable - but fine. I would have preferred that it be on time. I would have preferred that it was more memorable. But it's no better than Pizza Hut or Dominos and costs a lot more. I keep hoping to find a great pizza place in NE ABQ but so far I haven't had much luck.

I've been here before and found the place pretty good with reasonable prices, but we went on July 22 and were horribly disappointed. I had the eggplant Parmesan and it was really bad. The eggplants were mushy and tasteless. The side of spaghetti with marinara sauce was just as tasteless. I think maybe whoever made the sauce that day forgot something. The combination of the soggy, mushy eggplants with bland marinara sauce was the perfect combination of horrible. I only at a few bites and both and that was enough for me.. yuck yuck yuck.

Reviews are like assholes, everyone has got one. Mario's was good. The pizza was decent and the service was great. You should give it a try and give it a fair assessment. Eat up!

Great local business and perfect for families. I've been there twice and both experiences were good. My first visit was for a team banquet. The staff was more than capable of attending to a large group. My second visit was with the family. The food was good on both occasions and the prices are comparable to other restaurants of similar menu offerings.

This place was mediocre not the beat Italian food I had and not the worst I do like the fact that they deliver though

We have ordered from them a few times before, sometimes it's ok and other times it's not. We thought we would give them one more try. My husband, myself and my youngest son all got sick after eating their pizza! I called a manager and told her what happened she said she would check into it. Got a phone call the next day from another guy saying basically that I was lying and that there was no way it was there food that made us sick! I guess it was just a coincidence! I told him that I wanted a full or partial refund because we both missed work from how sick we were. He said that he would not issue me a refund because he doesn't believe that it was their food that made us sick! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T EVER EAT HERE!!! Bad food and bad customer relations!

This is the second time we have been to Mario's after a funeral with a large group of people. They have been wonderful! I would give them 5 stars but the food is good not great. The people are great!! I would like to go back when we are in the area and try them out with our 25 of my closest friends. I would highly recommend them for a large group. Their desserts are AMAZING!! But not cheap :)

I have enjoyed going to Mario's for the last 13 years or so. I go for the pizzas and salads. Ever since the other three other stores opened, the experience has not been consistent among the other stores. Some places have some ingredients while others don't. The proportions and preparation vary also. The salad I had at the San Pedro location was good sized and very filling, while the one on Paseo was very small for the $9 price and seemed to be made differently. It was so small, it was slightly bigger than a side salad. I was still very hungry after eating this tiny salad. Love the original location, but not so much the others (yet), especially the Paseo location.

Stopped in at Mario's Pizza tonight with friends. We had a great dinner!! I had the Enchilada Pizza, yes that's right. I guess they don't always have this but tonight they did. Green chile chicken Enchilada pizza..fantastic. My friends had Penne pasta with sausage and another had Angel hair with green chile Alfredo sauce. All our dinners well prepared and hot. Our server was polite and prompt. We actually tried one of Albuquerque's local beers Bosque Amber. We enjoy going to Mario's and I don't take the time to write how good they are often enough. We will be back!!

I've eaten at Mario's off and on for many years at their original location. They have decent food -- nothing I crave, but it is generally good. I agree with a couple of the other reviews. Sauce is a little sweet for my tastes, but I usually order pizza. On our last visit we had pizza and salads. Salads were just okay -- plain lettuce, a tomato wedge, and a few croutons. I asked the waiter for bread with the salads, but he never brought any--and never mentioned it again. I'll chalk it up to an off night for him, because the staff here is usually very friendly and attentive. Pizza was good for the first slice, but the crust was kind of wet and droopy at first bite. The pie became less appealing as it cooled. The facility itself is good, but for being a brand new location I expected a little more for the decor. I didn't care for the 3 big screen TV's in the main dining room all displaying the same news channel during the dinner rush. The TV's are an odd decorative addition to the dining room, but if you're going to have them, how about mixing them up with sports and other more entertaining options instead?

We've had takeout from here 3 times. Everyone is friendly, but the food has been somewhat hit or miss. Pasta is good, but the sauce is a bit on the sweet side. Same can be said for their pizza and sauce. Chocolate cake is delicious; if not a bit pricey. Inside looks like a great atmosphere for families, but we haven't eaten in yet.

Oh my, what has happened to Mario's? It used to be the best Italian in ABQ. New owner perhaps? I have been a loyal customer for 27+ years, but no more. The last two times I have eaten there the food has been really bad. I asked the wait person if they had changed the recipes and she just offered an awkward smile and left. I took that as a YES. It appears that the only thing that hasn't changed is their Ranch dressing, which is very good. To be more specific, their red sauce used to be a wonderful blend of tomato, ground meat and seasoning. Now it looks and taste exactly like uncooked, unflavored tomato paste with absolutely no meat...right out of a can. Wish I'd thought to take a photo. Imagine a blob of canned tomato paste (not sauce, paste) on top of a pile of pasta. There you have it. My husband and our guests all thought their meals (lasagne, eggplant parmigiana) were bland, and we're not picky people. This was just not good food. Period. One other observation - Mario's meals used to all come with a small side of pasta and sauce, very traditional, but no more. All in all, it is such a disappointment...we have been loyal customers forever. As local company owners, we have always relied on Mario's for company luncheon's, etc., but no more. Guess nothing lasts forever. RIP, Mario's.

The food and service was just OK. Nothing to ride home about. Our kids had a couple of slices pizza and it was ok, my husband had the lasagna and I had the eggplant parmesan. Basically, all of our food was just ok. For the money, it's not worth spending 10.99 for each of those 2 dishes plus price of the pizza slices. I'd rather just to Olive Garden and spend the same money maybe a few dollars more. We are completely disappointed and won't be going back again! :(

Mario's offers up a really strong menu of Italian-American fare, especially way out here in Albuquerque. The owners are Italians from New York, so the pizza is the way it should be, thin crust, crispy on the bottom, cut into wide slices. Mario's offers some non-New York options for your pie, such as green chile, gluten free and whole wheat crust for those with special dietary needs. They've got a large selection of Italian subs, pasta, salads and even chicken parm. For dessert, you can choose from classics like cannoli or tiramisu, or try their amazing gelato bar. The owner tells me they are one of the only places in town that actually makes their own gelato, in house. You've got to try the "Breaking Bad" flavor. Yes, it's blue!

Disappointed...ordered at 7:50pm...a small cheese pizza with jalapeños. They told me I needed to add to the order for delivery. I added breadsticks--I was told the order would be here in 30-45 min...no problem. Well my pizza showed up as plain cheese, and cold as well as hard breadsticks. I called and they apologized about the order being incorrect and that it was entered wrong. Just not worth it...

I can't say enough about the excellent food and service. I highly recommend Marios. Their crust is great. The atmosphere is awesome. Try it!

Food is OK. Service and customer service are awful. My wife and I ordered a salad and 2 slices of pizza. After more than 30 minutes of waiting and no food we walked out. Told manager (Jamie) about the awful long wait and got no sympathy or explanation. We will not be returning. I suggest you go somewhere else for better food (Luca Pizza just down the street) and service.

Great gelato. Lived in Europe for three years and got pretty spoiled but this gelato was on par with what I was used to. My only complaint was that I shared with my wife and she ate most of it.

The ladies returned to Mario's after a few months not having been.i It is still pretty good. I didn't think the salads or dressings were great. Could have been much better. But my pasta was good and the marinara sauce tasty. Overall the ladies enjoyed the food. I must say the 2 pieces of pizza with salad is a great deal. Those pieces were huge! And good. They liked the Southwest Chicken Alfredo very much too. It's a nice restaurant, clean, bright. Good location as well. Our male waiter worked very hard conside ring there were be of us demanding his attention!

If I don't want to drive far for Italian dishes, I will definitely visit again. Again other hit-or-miss type of restaurants. Some orders are okay and some are just not worth ordering again. Clean restaurant and definitely one of neighborhood quick meal type of Italian place.

The original Mario's on San Pedro is delicious and provides great and prompt service. Unfortunately these traits do not continue at their Paseo location. My family and I have visited the Paseo Mario's a few times and every occurrence their food is mediocre at best and takes a lot longer for it to arrive as compared to the original location. Service there while mostly friendly, lacks attention to detail. They consistently get orders wrong. I have family members who are gluten sensitive and after ordering their gluten free choices have had their pasta/pizza delivered and when we repeat "this is gluten free, right?" have to have the food taken back as its not what's been ordered. If you're looking for great Italian food and service, head to San Pedro & Uptown because you won't find it here.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
