We stopped in tonight to watch Scotty & The Atomics perform (they're way cool!). You can play pool here while you're knocking back a few cool ones. Our waitress was really great, she kept the beverages flowing and when ask for water gave us a whole pitcher (thank you). The atmosphear this evening was really chill and I'd go back to catch a band play in a second. There's plenty of parking, it's nice that it's not downtown where parking always seems to be a hastle to me.

GREAT MUSIC VENUE Rudy Jamarillo (Rudy Boy Experiment) runs a GREAT jam session on Thursdays & Sundays; lots of diverse acts; you DO get a chance to play and the house entertainment itself, consisting of Rudy Boy Experiment & others is EXCELLENT. You can hear originals, old R&R, Top 40, but the artists I saw here are all INTO the music and some are obviously great players out for a jam. Not too loud; great originals; well rehearsed Rudy Boy Experiment plus some others are really good as well. Check this out if you want to listen to some great stuff. I'm a musician new to ABQ and this is a place I plan to hang out at - hoping to jam too. Thanks for a great night out, Rudy, we had a great time - NANCY HAUBRICH aka Glass Parlour

Just a dark bar. Music some good, some bad. Friendly people. Staff not interested in you. No food to mention. This could be a great bar with real Irish drinks and some food. It seems more like a dive some one or a business is writing off. Thanks for reading. The Bike Chaplain

First time at Malarkys attending a meet-up. The place is run down (think dive bar) with matching bar prices (affordable). It was open mic night with various musicians joining the band. EXCELLENT music, not too loud. The music was 70s/80s not what I currently listen too but every song was good. Lots of people just get up and dance. As a previous rater mentioned this is a time warp. Other patrons were nice, bartender sweet. As for the women's bathroom it was clean (it's just old). Ample parking although parts could use more lighting. Didn't try the pool tables, there were plenty. Lots of seating. This is the place for live music and I recommend open mic night. Very casual, friendly older crowd.

Decent dive bar with a nice stage for live bands not too sure about the $15 credit card minimum but all in all not too bad.

We went for a friends rock show after work Sunday night. This is one of the few dive bars in town. This place is dark, dirty, dank, has pool, live music sometimes, and warmish tap beer. The bartender was a nice gal, who you can Imagine puts up with a heaping spoonful of seedy crap, and it does so with style. They do have pool tables, and there are quite a few of them. I cannot imagine the cost being much. Beer is pretty cheap I think two of them came to $7.50. Chairs have no padding left. If you are down and out it adds to the feeling the world and and your bottom are against you. Bathrooms are some of the scariest in town. I swore the one on the far left had not been cleaned in months. Only two out of four were functional. The other one did not lock and it was too far away to hold the door shut with one outstretched leg. I was told the mens room was just as bad. I am not sure if they serve food. But if they do, I would avoid it. I am with the school of thought, if the bathrooms are dirty so is the kitchen.

Could be a cool bar, but the bartenders and staff look old and tired... perhaps good customer service is not to be expected. I'm down to keep stopping by for a beer, but I probably wouldn't recommend this place to someone that's never been her before. Step up your game Malarky's...

koat.com/health/mold-coc… The violations include not cleaning and sanitizing; cheese sauce, chicken wings, ice cream, hot dogs and other foods growing mold in the cooler; food not held at proper temperatures in refrigerator; and a large amount of dead cockroaches throughout the facility's floors.

Walking in on a Wednesday night I thought I'd finally found my long lost Abq dive bar: horrible karaoke was playing, there were even games of cards and pool tables! Unfortunately the rude, unattentive and b!#$hy bartender ruined my entire experience. Apon request for the check she stated how much we owed. I reminded her I started a tab, in which she said very condescendingly she didn't have my card. The two people I was with confirmed she had my card...at that point all levels of attitude ensued until I insisted she look some more. Eventually she found my card, offered no apology for treating me like a piece of crap, and when I asked for a manager she stated she was the manager. If that was the management I really never wish to return. Exiting I vented to another patron, he told me that was not a normal occurance...so hopefully my terrible experience is an exception.

I have 2 stories about this bar. 1) In 1999 or so, my brother got married, and the connected hotel is where most of the wedding guests stayed. After the wedding reception, we all came to Malarky's (called something else back then) and there was karaoke. A wedding guy danced with a local girl, pissing off local girl's brother or something, and a bar brawl broke out! No joke. It was fantastic. How many times have you seen a bride in wedding dress and shoes kicking someone on the ground? What made this great is that no one was seriously hurt. Just a good ol' fashioned bar brawl. 2) Fast forward to Thanksgiving time 2009. We went to Sadie's nearby for dinner, then decided to go to 'the bar where the brawl was' because it is nearby. It happened to be metal cover band night - though I suspect this is many nights at this bar. Drinks are cheap. Entertainment is plentiful - just open your eyes. Service from wait staff was slow, but we were in no rush. Bottom line - go here if you want to get in a safe bar brawl, or if you missed the metal craze of the late 80's and early 90's. It is like stepping in a time machine - an era where ratt tails and mullets are the norm.

Room was hot, beer was warm, and creepy old guys all over. Other than that, it was golden.
