Los Compadres is a family favorite of ours. Last time I ordered Asada Enchiladas with an egg on top and I wasn't disappointed. The queso we ordered for an appetizer was FIRE! It did also taste somewhat stale?! Maybe it was an off day for the queso. The sopapillas and tortillas were good. I do always find myself comparing them to Garcia's though- in my opinion they hold the fluffiest, tastiest sopas and tortillas I have tried. Staff is great, prices are great. You won't be disappointed.

I thought I'd already written a review for this restaurant but I don't see it listed? This place has some of the best New Mexican food in New Mexico. Proof of that statement would probably be, that it's primarily frequented by Hispanics. And, man is this place usually packed! In my opinion, their food is excellent. As is their service. My only complaint that I've ever had with them was the fact that their chips were very stale, broken up and crumbled but, maybe I just hit them on off days. I just hate paying money for something like that. I realize that sounds petty but, good chips and salsa for me are an absolute must! I order the fajitas every time!

After eating lots of road trip food, I wasn't going to leave Albuquerque without having a sit down Mexican meal. We just randomly drove into the Los Compadres parking lot for lunch. My partner was a little skeptical based on the looks of the building. Not some cute touristy faux adobe place - looked more like an old Dennys. But the parking lot was packed and I figured it had to be pretty good. It was really good. And lots of it. Ordered the chile relleno meal. Absolutely delicious. So much food, I didnt eat dinner that night! Service was fast and friendly. You seat yourself. Clean restrooms. Does not take credit cards but has an ATM machine inside. The restaurant itself could use a little renovating inside and out. But I'd most definitely eat there again next time I'm in Albuquerque. (and my partner ended up loving the meal!)

This place used to be awesome. Last few times service has been horrible. I came back hoping service would have improved. Is their a management change. The food is good so this makes me sad.

Probably the worst service I'd ever seen.... Horribly Unfriendly.... even though the chip basket and empty glasses are at the edge of the table, as they walk by.... They ignore it until you stop and ask for refills, then they act disgusted. The girl at the pay counter was the nice and friendly staff member. The food was pretty good and fairly quick, but didn't make up for the lack of service or run down and dirty bathrooms.....

This Mexican restaurant can be summarized with one word: phenomenal. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING on the menu is, pardon the phrase, the BOMB.COM . Great people, great service, and ridiculously good and reasonably priced food. Order the chicarrones...also, the chips and salsa are best in town. Five starts no doubt!

This hole in the wall delivers! They offer great New Mexican cuisine I was able to try there carne adovada and fajitas which both were really good. There salsa is also really good and has a bit of a bite to it. Over all not a bad place to go when you get tired of all the popular New Mexican places around town.

My daughter ate here yesterday and my sister and I ate here awhile back. As some of the reviewers previously said this is a dive restaurant next to Albuquerque's Bio Park but...we were made very welcome by the waitstaff, the menu was typical New Mexican fare and very delicious and flavorful. The sauces and tortillas are excellent. The patrons were mostly Hispanic and the people I spoke to said it was the best Mexican food in Albuquerque. I'm not sure it's the best but it is darn close to it. I also noticed that many people ordered large quantities of take-out sauces when they left. Very popular restaurant and hard-to-find seating after church on Sundays.

Best New Mexican food I've had thus far. Reasonably priced homemade food. Everything is so fresh..

Love the food here it's good simple New Mexican diner fare but pick it up to go since the service is terrible. I was in the habit of bringing out of town friends here but for the most part the servers ignored us for other tables. Some folks would get seated after us and have drinks ,chips and salsa, and menus before we ever saw a waitperson. Just get it to go and skip the service

Been going here for years! It's seriously one of my two favorite New Mexican food restaurants! The chile rellenos are so amazing no one can make better I've yet to find! Love their chile but I would say I'm partial to the green. The meat and potato tacos are superior as well! Get the combo with both of them.

Such a jewel of a place. Service is great and food is greater. It's a trek for us to eat here, but worth every minute. The best part is that the food and service is consistently awesome. That's hard to find. Eat here.

Just like eating from my Grammies kitchen. Very authentic. Excellent flavor.great customer service. Just wish I could drink a beer with my red chili. There was 4 of us and we each got something different. Every plate was delicious! If you are in Albuquerque you must eat here!

Very good Mexican food. The inside of the restaurant is in very good shape. Parking lot needs a sealing, but that would take away from the ambience! Not quite a hole in the wall. My wife had the tostadas and they were very good. Two flour tortillas and sour cream accompanied it. I had a sopa plate and it was very tasty. Chips provided with the meal were good, too. Salsa was warm but not thermonuclear. Definitely worth a return visit.

One of albqs best kept secrets! The restaurant itself is kind of a dive but the food is ahhhhmazing. It's like "grandmas cooking". Always fresh, hot and delicious. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous.

This place was very good! I had the beef and papas taco and an enchilada with green sauce and I wanted to lick the green sauce off the plate. Beans and rice were good and the salsa was so fresh cilantro and peppers you could see were fresh! I wish we came back here instead of going to Sadie's the next night. I would return here many times!

I came here before my family arrived in town, when they seated me and made me feel welcomed. It was after the lunch hour, so there were plenty of open tables. They have good salsa, and it had a good enough spiciness for my taste. When my food arrived, it was cooked well, and but didn't have a wow effect on me, just simple. They kept our table well hydrated and attended. The service was great, food was good. Overall, I wouldn't be back because I am rarely in this side of town, but if I am, I'll definitely check it out again.

I have been a fan of Los Compadres since they were down on Isleta and going there today for lunch reaffirmed my love of this place! They have the best salsa and chips in town, and it's FREE ass soon as you sit down at your table. My favorite thing to oder there is the Bistek A La Mexicana, which is basically steak chunks stir fried with jalapenos and onions with a side of THE BEST refried beans and spanish rice. Great service! Awesome Value!

So often we go to the Aquarium and eat at the restaurant in the Aquarium but this time we thought we would give Los Comprades a try. The restaurant is similar style to a diner but of course Mexican food. The chips and salsa are great and my sons enjoyed eating chips too. My husband had a stuffed sopapilla and I had a green chile Burger. Everything was tasty and inexpensive. I would eat here again while visiting the aquarium.

I missed Village Inn so much I went here to eat anyways. Deja Vu! The interior is exactly the same. The prices are quite reasonable. I'm always happy to support a local independent business. Service was fast. The menu is , in my opinion, a mix of New Mexican and Mexican food. The red chile didn't have much of a kick and seemed more like red enchilada sauce. I would go back to try different things. Plenty of parking and close to downtown/old town.

Food is really good, portions are good size and prices are reasonable. I had hue is rancheros that were very filling (although I wasn't in love with the chopped up French fries on the side). Tamale has a bit of a spicy kick. Child rellenos are authentic and the chili sauce was authentic. The downside was the slow service.

Los Compadres is a new found favorite for my mom who works near by, but after my first visit I am not impressed. Out server paid no attention to us and my rice was delivered cold. All of the food tasted good, but it's very greasy. They make their own taco shells, and they came out dripping with grease. The food is moderately priced. The building used to be a Village Inn and they did nothing to change the look.

Menudo is consistent, and the compadre burger isn't too bad. Good value.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
