Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I've heard great reviews about "New Mexican" food--their use of chili's, sauces etc, so I was excited to try a local, New Mexican spot for lunch with my large group. Meh. The two stars go to the service. Our group was 10 strong so we required a larger table/space to be seated. Gratefully, we were sat in an otherwise empty dining room to account for groups like ours. Our waitress was polite and friendly, but not necessarily pandering for tips. She was attentive enough that no mistakes were made. The food, on the other hand, well . . . there was much to be desired. A handful of us ordered the chicken tacos. As a So Cal chap, I'm used to grilled, diced chicken for my tacos. What we received was, well, wet chicken. Like it had been done in a crock pot for an enchilada or something to that effect. Peculiar, not gross, but peculiar. Not particularly flavorful, either. A couple others ordered nachos--one with chicken (of the aforementioned, wet, variety) and one without. The chicken nachos--with the beans, sour cream and guacamole--managed to become a heaping, moist mess before they could be enjoyed. The other nachos were, apparently, just ok. We ordered a couple of margarita pitchers as well. I'm of the impression that the tequila was forgotten in the mix. Also, the glass pitchers they arrived in were: a) heavy to lift and b) dirty (stains from what I can only imagine was either iced tea or bloody mary mixes remained). Frankly, I was pretty bummed with the outcome. I'm of the belief that the head chef must have cut their teeth making hospice food as everything was just boring.

Party of 7 with 1 burnt, 1 wrong, 4 cold. Only 1 order was correct. After an hour of wasted time, the manager refused to comp drinks claiming it is NM law that you can't comp alcohol. He said he was doing us a favor by not charging us for the meal that was not eatable. I would give zero stars if that was an option.

This place has basic food service problems that won't be fixed by the people who run and operate it. Avoid. This is very basic bland cisco quality food served at below industry standard recommended temperatures. It needs to be inspected by state regulators more frequently and all the reviews about the bad and low quality service are totally relevant and true.

Worst service ever! Don't go here. May look charming from the outside but don't go! Waitress screwed up our order, we sent it back and then she never brought a replacement meal and when we asked when it would be ready she looked at us like we were crazy and said "you wanted it fixed" THEN when we complained to the manager we got a replacement meal but the waitress brought the check and said "here I just paid for that for you" so rude!!

Great fast service friendly and delish It's a chain all over town but doesn't feel like it. Very accommodating

If I have a second chance, I won't go back to this restaurant... Service level is excellent, I like the waiteress very much, just the food quality was below average. Can't really complain about comp chip and salsa, but the salsa tasted like its from a can, and it said it was homemade... Then, my tamale is 90% hard like a rock, so I only ate the 10%. Tasted was ok. The green chile beef stew was good, perhaps it was the best food from this restaurant.

We live in California and received a recommendation from someone whom used to live in Albuquerque to try Little Anita's while we were passing through. We thought it was delicious. Everything was fresh and well made. The chile relleno and adovado were very good! The chile/salsa/ pico de gallo were all fresh and great tasting. The service was excellent as well. We were cheerfully greeted and seated by Eric whom also checked on us a few times. Terae was our server and she was awesome. Thanks to both for making our experience so pleasant. I would recommend Little Anitas to anyone.

Service was excellent. Nice atmosphere. 7.95 for an egg burrito with hash browns for the kid seemed a bit much. Food was okay, nothing amazing. I had the Caballero, the chicken fried steak tasted like it was probably pre made. Okay place, wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but it's decent food.

Average, average, average, average... Did I say average? The food was ok New Mex. I haven't been to Old Town's Little Anita in about 3 yrs. We had sorta so-so experience that time. We decided to give it a try again. Now mind you, I have eaten some of their drive-thru fares & thought it ok and reasonably priced. Since the last visit to sit in, the drive - thru made it worth possibly trying again. The service was average. She seemed friendly at first. Yet she seem to get cranky as the meal went on. By the time we checked out she was short and very concise as she took our payment. We were sat in a back room with only one other couple. I didn't mind that. I did note that the male of the couple did get up to find the waitress at one point to ask for to go boxes or something. My son and I tried the number six combo plate. My son (teen) ate the enchiladas and said he was done. This is pretty typical of him. I had encouraged him to get more than just two enchiladas w/ rice& beans for 9.50 when the combo plate was 12.50 and he could have leftovers for dinner. My husband went ahead and ate our son's chicken taco that was on #6 plate. He said the beef tacos were quite a bit better then the chicken. My husband had a number 3 combo. As you can tell he had a beef taco with is. I am an avid busser of my table, trying to give the servers a bit of a break as I've done their job. Even with me busing, I only saw the bus- girl once. The waitress did finally take away the extra drink cups towards the end. We were not impressed with the $2. 50 soda cost with only a limited one refill for free. I felt my food was nothing special. The waitress asked me when she took my order if I wanted my whole meal smothered with both chiles or if I wanted more Christmas style. When it got to me it was half and half. I do not know if this was a miscommunication on the waitresses part or the cook not reading the order but it is sort of frustrating if they're going to ask not to get it right. As I said average about covers it.

For those of us I solated from New Mexican cuisine in Northern California, there's just nothing quite as tasty as fresh chilies. In California, Mexican food is drastically different and much heavier. We have been to Little Anita's several times over the years - and always leave feeling like we've been treated to quality food well prepared. I had the beef chimichanga and my wife chose the green chili stew. The chimi was cooked just right and was filled with tasty, lean shredded beef. It was topped with cheese, tomatoes, and chopped green onions. Since I had ordered the sauce "Christmas" style, fresh green and red Hatch chili sauces topped it off. It was accompanied with guacamole and sour cream. The chips and salsa were also freshly prepared. The "salsa" isn't tomato based but is a spicy red chili sauce for flavor not chopped tomatoes with flavoring to eat by the chipful. I have to add that we were eating early and may have received more attention than those who visit during peak periods. Nonetheless, Little Anita's is a great place to sample New Mexican food at a value price.

Food was cold and was not good. Of the 4 of us, the best entree was my son's chicken tenders. Waitress was nice. Drinks also poor. We paid extra to super size the margaritas which just made them normal size margaritas that tasted fair at best. Cost way too high for food we mostly left behind. Would not go back. I spent $70 for the worst meal I have had in years.

We are on a cross country vacation. We stopped at Starbucks before deciding where to have lunch. We found this place on a different site. We went in brought our frappuccino with us. They sat us down, brought us chip and salsa and right before taking out order the waitress asked to hide our Starbucks cup. She said it was a restaurant liability to have outside food. The manager came to our table and offered us another cup to pour our frappuccinos in, which takes away from out Starbucks $5.00/cup experience. She gave us no other option, so we left.

Food was prompt and delicious. Very clean restaurant and bathrooms - wonderful service and atmosphere. Easy parking and wonderful place to end an evening when you are in Old Town!

We have little Anita's in Denver so I really didn't want to go when we were on vacation but the munchkin insisted! Actually was great! Food was better than our location and nice to sit down sort of like a Mexican Denny's vibe but our denver locationis a strip mall so I was happy to see Margs. Margs were a mix but ok. Nice waiter and the food is what you expect but came out hot and correct. Not a bad place for a quick bite or breakfast burrito if staying at the hotel Albuquerque as its right next door.

We stopped in here for lunch at the start of a trip through the southwest. It looked to have good reviews but our experience was that it was just okay. It wasn't bad but it was plain and simple when I expected a delicious southwest meal. The best part of the meal were the sopaipillas at the end of the meal, pour some honey on and they were delightful. There have to be better Mexican options in Albuquerque. We drove from there to Gallup for the night. We ended up eating at the Matate Tamale Factory which was the best Mexican meal of the whole week. If you are heading to toward Gallup leave some room in your stomach for some real Mexican food.

Siiigggghhh... I have been on a quest recently for some ridiculously delicious refried beans(and nachos). After my fall-out with El Patio it is a craving that has taken over my existence. So, when my boyfriend mentioned we should go to Little Anita's I couldn't help but get excited for the possibility of refried beans. As a child, my NeenNeen would take us to a small Little Anitas hut on 4th to get breakfast burritos and bomb chile cheese fries, but I haven't really visited since my younger years. Either way, I for some odd reason, had high hopes for Little Anitas. We started with some queso which was fine. The cheese was fine, the green floaties were not fine, the chips were WAY too salty, so meh experience. I can't judge a restaurant for not having good queso, because as a nacho-like cheese connoisseur I understand this battle. I got a combination plate that came with a cheese enchilada and a soft taco with a side of BEANS and rice! Right off the bat, what the fork. The meat in my taco was not remotely edible. Some of you think the taco bell meat is disgusting, well let me tell you, this meat had the consistency of APS overly dried meat, with the taste of soggy dog food, or at least my understanding of the way soggy dog food smells. My enchilada was sad. The cheese inside wasn't melted, the corn tortilla was soggy and sad looking, and there were no freaking onions. NO ONIONS. NONE. IN MY ENCHILADA. The chile was also disappointing. It lacked flavor and spice and laid there on my plate without the luscious shine and smell most red chile gives up; it's like the chile was disappointed in itself too. Finally, my beans were fine. Not great, but they did come with cheese already on them which ignited some excitement in my little brain. The rice on the other hand tasted kind of like 90 second ride and it had green things in it. I don't understand why some mexican restaurants feel that by putting one or two pieces of shrively sad looking bell peppers in my freaking rice it will make me feel like I am eating more of a mexican meal. Leave your dumb peppers out of my rice unless you're going to do it right! My boyfriend got some chicken nachos. I didn't try them because Little Anitas already committed a crime against humanity by putting olives on their nachos. You are in New Mexico, not the midwest. We don't need some stupid black olives on our food to make it feel a little more legit. It makes sense for Little Anita's to use such ridiculous antics though. They're in the heart of Old Town and I'm sure most of the tourists can't handle all that is 'burque in spirit, in heat, and without stupid freaking olives in our food. So, all you tourists out there, please don't eat here and decide you have had a good New Mexican meal. You will be cheating all of us out of the experience that is Albuquerque. If you can't handle the heat and are slightly afraid to move a little out of the touristy box though, you're welcome to come here. I'm sure you'll enjoy it...

They weren't very busy when we had lunch here around 1 p.m. they had a variety of different dishes to choose from and they also had a good selection for kids. For all the adults you can get green chile or red chile or both! I had the #2 combination plate.

So I was absolutely disappointed in this restaurant. It was my first time here in 6 years and I thought that because they had so many throughout town, they had to be decent. Sadly, I was wrong and the only thing keeping this place alive are the tourists . We were going to see a play nearby so we chose this as our establishment to dine and the atmosphere was cheesy Mexican. Thy has a little white board when you entered showing the special and the price on drinks. We got the chips and salsa to start. Bland bland bland. The salsa was decent, but the chips were thin and reminded me of what they serve at chilis, not a Mexican restaurant. Onto the main course. I ordered the carne adovado enchiladas on blue corn tortillas. They came with the normal rice and beans and lettuce/tomatoes. The sides were well horrible. I had opened a can of refried beans at my house the night before, heated them and added a litle garlic salt- they had more flavor. And the rice was about the same- had been made and sitting all day. And here is the worst part- the enchiladas. I love a great meaty red chile sauce with pork and em, love it. but this was more like ketchup on top of some bland meat. there was not even that much meat there. The others at my table had the green chile enchiladas and the stuffed sopapilla. Both had similar expereinces to me in terms of blandness of the sides and the green chile. They were disappointed as well. the final course and most awaited- the sopapilla. A fluffy flaky doughy deliciousness that we coat in honey and enjoy for dessert. Again it was bland. It tasted factory made. utter disappointment enclosed as i walked away from this meal. As a native New Mexican, this restaurant is a disgrace to our food. I would rather you go to a fast food joint that this. I want everyone to know New Mexico for its flavorful green and red chiles, its fresh chips and salsa, and all the other unique flavors we have. YOu will not find it here. Do yourself a huge favor and eat elsewhere or if left with no other option, dont eat. I dont give 1 stars except for the worst of the worst and this is one of them

For the past two years, my father and I have driven to Phoenix to spend Christmas with our family. We always try to spend the night in Old Town Albuquerque and on both occasions have eaten dinner at Little Anita's. The first time was for convenience: it's open until 9, has its own parking lot, is close to the shops of old town, and even closer to lodging. This December, we ate there because we'd had such a positive experience the year before. I think it says a lot when you can return to a restaurant after 365 days and still enjoy the experience. Their food and service are consistently good. Our waitress was an absolute sweetheart, genuinely kind and incredibly attentive. Last year, the story was the same. My enthusiasm applies to the food as well. We tend to get the fajitas for two with both chicken and beef. The meat is tender and flavorful and your fajitas come with all the fixings. Good chips and salsa, too -- our basket was crispy and warm. We expect to be back next year, but for anyone passing through in the meantime, we recommend this place.

We stopped here while passing through Albuquerque on a DIY Breaking Bad Tour. Seemed like pretty average Mexican food, but it was good nonetheless. We got our food very quick too! If you're a fan as well, there is a little candy shop right next door that sells the blue prop meth used in the show! Pretty cool. It's also maybe 4 minutes from "Jesse Pinkman's" house.

Out of all the New Mexican places to eat in Albuquerque, I had to eat at one of the shittiest ones probably, ugh. There were so many cute restaurants to chose from, but since we had to get back on the road we went with Little Anita's because they had a carry out option. I ordered a beef and bean burrito, and it was horrible!!! Honestly, I like almost everything and will eat it if I'm that hungry, but not this time. The beans and meat were so greasy and over cooked. The meat had no flavor besides it's nasty greasiness. I felt like I was eating shitty food at a cafeteria in a hospital or something. The tortilla was also hard as a rock. :( I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1, because my sister's tostadas were edible, much better than that shitty burrito I ate. Also, because while waiting for my order we went inside and used the restroom inside the restaurant, and it was cute and everyone's margaritas looked yummy. Maybe if I had ate inside the restaurant, I would've ordered something tastier along with a delicious margarita to stop my complaining, lol. Where I come from Mexican food is done right! Maybe I just don't get this New Mexican food thing...I'll give it another chance though. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing here.
(2)Michelle W.
It was ok. Chips tasted bagged. Salsa tasted bottled. Sauces, both green & red were too bland. i was looking forward to some New Mexican food, but this place seems to cater to the tourist palatte, not the foody palatte. I had adovado stuffed sopapillas. They were ok. Needed spice. Regular Sopapillas with honey were delish! Recommended to us as the best Sopapillas in old town. i could not refute that. We all enjoyed them.
(3)Charles K.
Average southwestern fare, better margaritas. I usually go here with friends who appreciate the food a little more than I do. Service has always been excellent.
(3)Adam O.
I am a huge fan of New Mexican food, and I wanted to make sure we had some when we were in town for a friend's wedding. We were looking for a place we saw on yelp, but it closed down, so we walked down the street a bit until we saw some locals who pointed us to Little Anita's. This was a great recommendation. The food was delicious and the prices were really reasonable given the fact that it is right outside of the touristy old-town. I had a green chile enchilada thing, and it was crazy good. The salsas were tasty but my oh my did they pack a punch, and I really like spicy.
(4)Leslie T.
It has chain restaurant decor but there is noting generic about the food. The green chili sauce is spicy like it should be. I'm excited to go again on my way back home.
(5)Gail G.
Ok for Mexican food. Totally processed but ok for not being familiar with the town. Staff was nice though. My cousin could not find anything she liked though. Next time in town will try something different.
(2)Aimee L.
2.5 Stars. Since I'm a fan of Little Anita's in Denver, I had to check this place out soon after spotting the sign, which was the first day we arrived in Albuquerque. Even though this New Mexican restaurant is in New Mexico, and the menu is expansive, the food just isn't as good as I expected. FOOD: - Enchiladas Rancheras: I ordered this topped with red and green chile and two eggs over medium, refried beans, and Spanish rice; this was decent, though not outstanding. High quality ingredients are not used here. - Green Chile Stew: like chicken stew with some green chile mixed in; nothing special. - Sopapillas: bland and didn't seem fresh; disappointing. - Chips and Salsa: chips were not too greasy, salsa has a kick of spice. SERVICE: Pretty good. Our waitress, Shelly, had a nice personality and was attentive. AMBIANCE / LOCATION: This place reminded me of Chi-Chi's restaurants back in the day. Colorful decor, and plenty of booths and tables, fairly clean. It's much larger on the inside than it appears from the outside. PARKING: Free private lot on the side of the restaurant. I'm glad I checked this place out, but I don't think I would return because of the mediocre food. Sad.
(2)Karina V.
I give them one star for the fresh glass of water... everything else was a joke. The ground beef in the taco salad was cold and the shell was stale. Someone else in my group ordered the same thing and found a nice hairy surprise. Gross!
(1)Willie S.
Our food was delicious, service was super friendly and fast. Love is all we have for Little Anita's!!
(5)Kevin P.
All sauces and tortillas are not home made. The Carnitas was out of the can it seemed, taco shells were also store-bought.
(2)Nate J.
1st Mexican food in New Mexico and it was great! I had sopas filled with Carne Adovada... never heard of it but it was great! full of flavor and just yumm! W/ Green/ Red Chile Sauce combo BOMB!
(4)Jon B.
While in Albuquerque for vacation we went to Little Anita's for breakfast. The atmosphere made me think sort of southwestern IHOP so I wasn't expecting too much when I ordered the "Breakfast Burrito Grande". I figured it would be good, but what I got was one of if not the best breakfast burritos I have ever eaten! My biggest issue with most breakfast burritos is that they basically amount to an omelet rolled up in a tortilla. I like omelets, but if I want one I'll just order one. This burrito, though, had everything mixed and melded together for one flavorful bite after another especially with the green chile slathered all over the outside. It was pretty filling, but so good I was almost tempted to order another. Mrs. B had the "Huevos Rancheros" and said they were very good, although she didn't seem quite as enthralled with them as I was with the burrito.
(4)Vinh N.
I ordered a Chimichanga here with both red and green sauce. I didn't like the red sauce too much but I liked the green sauce. The food here is average, mine at least. Their Teriyaki Fajita was HORRIBLE. It looked very good when they brought it out but it has to be one of the saltiest things ever. They gave us some Sopaipilla and that thing was pretty dry. I thought it was supposed to come sugar coated or something but it was plain. I guess that's what the honey on the table is for. I still didn't like it very much. Overall, I thought the place was average.
(3)Julie N.
Mexican food is one of my favorite cuisines. I was so excited to try southwestern food being from Los Angeles. I have dreamed about the peppers. I did have lots of great meals in Santa Fe, but Little Anita's didn't measure up. The food here is really dull. Bland! I regret listening to a stranger I met on the streets of old town Albuquerque. Was looking at yelp when a women said to try this place, that it was really good. Well turns out it was really flavorless/boring. The servers are very nice, atmosphere average.
(2)Carlucci L.
Typical mexican food, pretty good and the prices are really cheap. The portions are big, had the guacamole salad (that was more like a dip though, not really a "salad") and my wife and I split a vegetarian enchilada.
(3)Linda B.
Just had arrived in NM from TX and was craving some good green/red chile. In a big way! We had decided on another place that had had good reviews but, alas, on Sundays it was closed. During Balloon Fiesta?? So we consulted Yelp again and decided on this place, partly because it was close and partly because The Giant was becoming a real "bear" due to hunger. So in we went. Kinda kitchy cute but apparently unprepared for a number of customers this late in the lunch run (3PM). We stood there waiting to be noticed for a while while the manager and several staff argued about who is and isn't entitled to a break just now, thank you. And who is and isn't scheduled, and so forth. Cut back to the waiting customers, and we finally get seated. Very cool and friendly waitress was ours, and helped us select just the right goodies from the menu. Had green chile stew and a combo plate. Good news: the waitress was very cool. Not so good news: if you're grading on a curve, as we ended up doing, the food needs a little attention. From the reviews Little Anita's has gotten on Yelp in other locations, I'm sure they've got it in them. We just didn't see it on this visit. Three stars for effort and potential! We'll probably give it one more swing...
(3)Lauri D.
Seriously we were excited to try Little Anita's but a very disappointing experience. Just so so food dripping in oil. Cold crunchy sopapillas. That showed up late and with no honey. The waitress disappeared after delivering our food and we had to ask at the front to get our bill. We were a large party and they added a 20% gratuity. Never going back.
(1)Michael F.
Average Mexican fare. To their credit the food is unapologetically spicy.
(3)Elaina J.
I think your satisfaction with Little Anita's depends upon what you order. It's hit or miss. Some "hits" are: quality, spicy salsa, the steak in the steak tacos (but not the tortilla itself). Some "misses" are the tortilla's for the steak tacos (GREASY!) -- (although the meat was good) and the chili rellenos (unless you like gobs of bland corn batter). And why don't any mexican restaurants in Albuquerque have black beans? My hubby can't eat pinto beans.... I would rather go to Chevy's which is not a good endorsement....
(2)Silver S.
This might be my new favorite place to take out of town guests who want to try New Mexican food, even though it feels like a chain restaurant. The complimentary salsa and chips hit the spot without guilt. They are super slender and taste baked, not fried. The vegetarian enchiladas are likely the best I've had in the state, chiefly because they are filled with yummy roasted veggies, not congealed neon orange cheese. You should order these with a to-go box because the portions are huge. The chile had a nice roasted flavor as well, not just plain hot, and the menu says that the chile is veg unless you specify otherwise. My guess is that the refried beans were lard free. I ended up craving my leftovers in the fridge and polished them off quickly. The sopapillas are a mystery to me. I don't know how you can make fried dough that appears not to have any oil on it. You don't even need a napkin after eating it because it doesn't leave anything on your fingers. I was suspicious, but I ate the whole thing at Little Anita's, even though I just eat one bite everywhere else. Given the fact that this seems to be healthier than normal New Mexican food, I was mystified why 90% of the patrons in this place were obese. Maybe it's the portion size? I've never had a problem with the service. Usually my problem is with the other patrons, who are letting their children run all over. This is a casual place.

Paging Gordon Ramsay! I just finished a meal at this restaurant with my family and will not be going back. Upon arrival, we were seated at a noisy table adjacent to the kitchen while many other preferable options were available. We asked the hostess to move us to a less noisy table and she honored our request. After taking our seats at the new table, we waited for at least five minutes before our server arrived. She took our drink orders and brought us our chips and salsa. The chips were ok--warm, light and crisp. The salsa was a thick Pace-like concoction with decent flavor. Upon taking our food orders, we asked the waitress' advice on chili spice levels. She explained to us that the green was hotter than the red. I ordered the #1 combo (enchilada, tamale, taco) with green chili. My mom and dad each ordered enchilada plates with the red. My sister ordered chicken fajitas. By the time the food arrived, our drinks were all empty, and we tried to order more margaritas. The waitress explained to us that the bar was closed and that we would not be able to get another round of margaritas to accompany our meal. Our food was terribly disappointing. Each plate (except for the sizzling fajitas) was lukewarm at best. My rice was old and crunchy, and the aforementioned chili advice was incorrect. The 'red' was extremely spicy (almost inedible to those who ordered it) while the green had a normal spice level. The beans were OK, but again lukewarm. I didn't even touch my taco in the #1 combo because the taco meat looked like it had been sitting on the steam table all day. The tortillas served with the fajitas were not warm, and their dryness rendered them unable to contain the fajita filling. The combination platters we ordered were also supposed to come with fresh sopapillas, which we never received. If I could give Little Anita's 0 stars, I would. As my disappointed dad said following the meal, this place doesn't deserve to be in business.

Because this Little Anitas is in the heart of a tourist community, they jack up their fake compliments and fake new mexicaness... when clearly they have got an unhealthy buisness. I LOVE the one near my house, but when me my boyfriend, my mom and her boyfriend, and my niece and nephew went there after spending the day at the museums we were bombarded by stupid people thinking us stupid. My boyfriend ordered the carneitas thinking they were like you get them at a mexican store chunks of pork, he asked there be no Chile... and here it comes... The portion was TINY i mean literally less than a cup of meat hiding under beans and rice, at first he was just going to eat it but upon tasting he realized there was chile in it. So we had it sent back, after a while the waitress came back to say the pork comes with the green chile already in it, so were both like 'forget it just get him a hamburger, a REGULAR tomato onion lettuce hamburger' While he was waiting for his hamburger my mom was trying to get my 2 year old nephew to eat his food ( it was chicken strips and fries) and they put a random piece of lettuce in it, well, that random piece of lettuce was brown on the edges and turing brown in the middle, my niece who had the same thing had the same kind of lettuce. It was disgusting and could have had salmonella! Then a random waiter came to deliever my boyfriend his burger but it was an indian burger (a sopapilla version of a burger but with chile all over it) the manager was like 'oh that was an order to another person' but we had to wait another 10 minutes to get his burger. After that he ate and we left. I had to take the kids to the car because my mom wanted a word with the owner. They were all unprofessional and refused to have my nieces meal be free because we only pointed out my nephews piece of brown lettuce. I will never go there and feel bad because tourists arnt getting the REAL Little Anitas experience that can be awesome at other places!

Pretty darn good chile relleno. The #2 combo plate is a good amount of food. Tasty.

I can't say that it was awful. After all, the food was perfectly edible, although extremely cheesy. That is once the food arrived. Which took forever. Actually, a lot of things took forever. Getting seated in a restaurant that was almost empty at dinner time. Getting a waitress to take our order. Bringing our drinks. Bringing silverware. Bringing the actual food. Refilling the chips. I would say that refilling the drinks took forever, too, but that might imply that they were actually refilled at one point--which they were not. Nobody really even checked on us the whole evening. I did appreciate a bit of entertainment in that the staff seemed to be bickering. Waitress against waitress. Manager against waitress. Everyone seemed angry about being at work, or maybe they just didn't like each other. Hey--I know waiting at a half-empty chain restaurant can be stressful, so who am I to judge?

I agree with Jaime -- outstanding ground beef red chile enchiladas, very good sopapillas. Chicken taco salad was also outstanding. They also serve Alien Amber ale -- of of the best beers produced in New Mexico.

Great place for New Mexican food. New Mexican's have their own version of Mexican food and it is delicious. I really like their red chile beef enchiladas with a sopapilla!! Esta muy bien! Buen Provecho!

Excellent margaritas. The vegetarian enchiladas were well prepared and flavorful. The sopapillas were also very well prepared with a great yeasty flavor like a good donut or dinner roll. Very nice way to end a good meal.

Nothing like a Pork Adovado Burrito for breakfast. You belch the rich chile/adovado sauce for at least an hour! Life doesn't get much better than this!

Not bad for being one block away from tourist central. The menu has a very helpful explanation of what is characteristic about New Mexico Mexican food, so I ordered an adovada/relleno/sopapilla combination. I've had better sopapillas (labeled Navajo fry bread...apparently they're the same), but they weren't bad. The food was reasonably good, though could have benefited from better plating (it all ran together).

Judging solely on a hungover breakfast ... perfect. Little Anita's is a part of the Albuquerque landscape.
