This is my wife and I's favorite Chinese restaurant in all of NM! They remember us every time we come and are very friendly. The service is fast and all the food is amazing. I love their egg drop soup and sweet n sour chicken, so tender!

I'll keep the review of today's visit brief: Walked in apprehensive. Ordered to go at the counter. The Asian lady at front seemed a little irritable and annoyed while taking order, but stuck to it. She could have been ruder. I told her I don't eat meat (only seafood) like 5 times so she helped me pick a lunch special that would help me suit my needs. Waited in the dull feeling restaurant (some static-y mono-speaker radio on, somewhere, dark and not too appealing interior)... Received food: Tasty shrimp with lobster sauce and a good portion.... Only problem were the giant chunks of *meat* in the sauce. I'd rather spend $7 anywhere else.

On my way home from a long day of errands and I stopped here for some takeout. As far as chinese food goes, I was unimpressed. I ordered lunch menu versions of cashew chicken and sweet and sour chicken. The chicken in the cashew chicken was an odd shape an appeared to be made up of some grissle and fatty parts too. There were maybe 8 cashews and two snowpeas. Mostly celery . The eggrolls were made up of all cabbage...I am no expert, but don't eggrolls have other ingredients? It was cheap food and very fast for takeout. I probably won't return in the future, but if anyone needs a large amount of mediocre super cheap chinese food...this is your place.

The lunch specials are cheap for the amount you receive, but I was not happy with the taste of the pepper steak. The food came out way to fast within 5 minutes of ordering, I just received my egg drop soup, the pepper steak sauce was almost clear in color and the onions and bell pepper were under cooked and the beef slices were small, mostly onions. They use a cart to wheel out your order which seems over used to bring out 1 plate. The waiter did not check on you until half way through dining which sucked when I did not get a straw for my drink.

I've driven by this place several times and it always looked dirty and greasy. Then one day a friend of my wifes said it was the best Chinese food she has ever had. You get a lot for very little (5 bucks) I'm still not convinced

Oh gosh. I feel terrible about this whole experience. Davis was really feeling like Chinese food (let it be known I wanted Thai) so we went to Ho Lo Ma. I could have saved us by looking at Yelp but my phone was dying so we were short on time. So we go to Ho Lo and we regret it. The staff was so friendly and nice. Everyone was really a joy. And efficient too! But the food was so bad. I mean, it was so greasy and even hard to tell what it was. I ate chicken in foil that I have no idea what part of the chicken it was. And the chow mein was very light on noodles and heavy on bean sprouts. The sweet and sour pork was so bland. I tried to put the sauce on the chow mein and it was basically tasteless. Plus, all the grease. Soo greasy. It was just not doable. I know, these people are really trying and I feel terrible. But it just wasn't good. Thanks for trying Ho Lo, thanks for trying.

Think I have a new favorite Chinese restaurant. They aren't any run of the mill Chinese buffet place. You sit down enjoy some soup, have a look at the menu and bam! They have true Chinese food. Love their specials for two or more. Their shrimp in lobster sauce was awesome, so was the ramaki. I'll definitely be back to try other menu items! Yum.

For two years I've driven by this place on Menaul and wanted to go in; and finally I talked a co-worker into going with me on a day when several of our regular places were closed. I'm super torn. On the one hand, the food was delicious, particularly since we found the menu with real Chinese food. My friend had the hong kong noodles, and I had Chinese broccoli with beef. On the other hand, I felt miserable all night. Not food poisoning or sick; just not good. So take it how you want.

I think this place is better than the other reviewers give it credit for. We had the crispy duck and it was awesome. First, you get enough for two people and second, it is very tender and flavorful. Maybe the other reviewers aren't ordering the right stuff. Service is quick and friendly.

I had sweet and sour chicken, egg flower (drop) soup, and crab rangoons. The chicken tasted really good. The batter they used was crispy and sweet. The sauce was weird and thick, kinda wax like. The soup was ok, as were the rangoons. The plus for me was they were open on Christmas. Fa ra ra ra raa

Went for lunch. Service was good, prices weren't bad. The foil wrapped chicken was tasty! The rest of the meal was an oily, greasy cheap Chinese food. They use MSG there, and lots of it! I was having flushes and a headache before we left the parking lot

I don't want to bash this place because they haven't done anothing wrong to me, but the food here is adequate at best. I feel like to they are not even as good as panda express, which is a fast food franchise. I gauge a restaurant's potential by the crowd that visits it. All I saw were old white retired people. The food was bland and unappealing. I will not visit this restaurant again but that is not to say that if you have a bland palate, you actually might like it.

Ho Lo Ma wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad either. I'm sure it would've been more pleasant had the two women sitting a few feet from us weren't being so damned loud and obnoxious...but c'est la vie The food was perfectly acceptable, the service was prompt and courteous. Overall

This restaurant has probably the best Chinese food in Albuquerque. This is a family owned restaurant and has been in Albuquerque for at least 20 years. The quality of food has never gone down since I have known of this place. Attentive service and just incredible food.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
