The Tappan grill was wonderful. We had two picky kids and the chef was very accommodating. The food was very delicious. We had tempura (which the kids loved). Sushi was good. And the food off the grill was very good! So fat this is my favorite Tappan grill in Albuquerque.

We had the Hibachi. Our group was big enough that we took up the whole table. The food was incredibly delicious even next days left overs were so good. We happened upon this place only because the other restaurant we intended to go to was closed. My kids loved it. They keep asking to go back. It's kinda pricy for kids but they do give you a lot of food for them. So if you figure you are buying their dinner and lunch the next day, it isn't so bad.

I love this place so much! When you sit at the sushi bar, its amazing! Excellent service everytime my friends and I dine there. The food is great, especially the sushi! If you haven't tried the BMW speciality roll, you definitely should!
(5)Isah K.
Awesome experience. The chef was very engaging and entertaining. Overall atmosphere was comfortable. They have a fish pond on the inside and they let our little one feed the fish. So nice. Oh the food? Yum. Everything worked together well.

We stopped in this afternoon with friends for a bite of sushi. I'm by no means a sushi regular but we all decided to try something different then share the bounty. Our drinks were always kept full and the service was spot on. On this day we arrived around 4:30 and it was pleasantly quiet. We sat at the sushi bar and could easily have a semiprivate conversation while enjoying our eats.

The chefs personality and the quality of food is the only reason I didn't go lower. I hate ordinary posing as upscale. They need to take a note from other hibachi locations and consider who they are seating people with like immedatley. Across the restaurant I saw nice dressed couples on dates, like us, each looking painfully displeased, as they sat with thier own set of loud drunken groups, or parties with more children the adults flicking rice around with thier chopsticks, standing in chairs. Etc. It wouldn't have killed them to sit the couples together in a corner. We were a side note, had to ask for water and our edamame over and over as the "family" ordered sake bombs by the rounds, moving children from lap to lap. Who's driving those kids home? I don't know. Shouldn't be my problem at dinner. It's a shame the food was good, the chef fantastic. Atmosphere... ZERO. This isn't an upscale date location. It's a zoo.

We came for my grandson's first birthday and we were blown away! The teppan grill was fun and exciting and the food was delicious, especially the garlicky noodles! Nothing was overcooked, as can sometimes be the case at hibachi. It was all cooked to perfection, amazing sea scallops! The chef even got us some spicy mayo for dipping! The waiter was outstanding, never hovered but drinks were refilled without asking and plates were whisked away when you were done! He even gave us ice cream to go just because my grandson loved it so much! We have eaten at other Japanese restaurants in the city, but we won't again, this place is yummmmmy! We will definitely be going back!
(5)Stephanie K.
Food was ok, but lacked flavor in my opinion. I've tried several hibachi places given we are from out of state and relocating. This place seemed overpriced for lack of flavor, cuts of meats, and all of our food being over cooked. For a steak and chicken meal you get a small salad, bowl of soup, small NY strip steak, and a small piece of chicken, noodles, fried riced, and hibachi veggies. All for $24. Overall an entertaining experience, but definitely will look for another hibachi place to try in the near future.

We are from Arkansas and ate at Hayashi last night. Our experience was excellent. When we walked in we were amazed at how nice it was. From waterfalls to nice padded leather chairs. We sat at the hibachi grill with a large family. It was the sons birthday. Our waiter was very friendly and kept our drinks refilled. Our cook, Sam, was very good at his job. He was friendly and funny. Very fast cook but he knew what he was doing. We have a go to hibachi restaurant back home and this place is right up on the top of our list next to it. Hayashi had grilled noodles, which I've never seen before. The shrimp was amazing, the fried rice was flavorful and the fresh Teryaki sauce was to die for!
(5)Erik H.
The sushi is excellent! Very fresh! I came here for the first time with my friend that goes all the time on her recommendation. So glad I went! I kept finding myself turning around to look at the chefs put on the show for other families that ordered Tappan (Is that the word?)!! I enjoyed myself thoroughly and can't wait to go back!
(5)Alex D.
This is my favorite restaurant in Albuquerque. Everything is always fresh and delicious! It's always clean and every person that works here is super polite and friendly. It can be a bit pricey but it'll be worth your money. The dinner portions are very large, two people can definitely share a plate. Danny is the best cook, the way he makes his shrimp is to die for!
(5)Victoria G.
This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in Albuquerque! The chicken katsu is my favorite meal and the sushi is always fresh and flavorful. I especially enjoy the happy hour specials. The service is usually good. I've only sat in the dine in section. My next time I'll try the hibachi bar. This place is absolutely wonderful.
(5)Vincent H.
Not impressed at all after tonight's dinner. The egg rolls were tiny and weren't that good. The soft shell crab wasn't cooked properly and wasn't able to tell it was a soft shell crab at all cause it was over cooked. Sushi was ok, just like California rolls, fish wasn't fresh. Only that saved this place was the ambiance and fried rice. I was impressed by the fried rice. Service sucked, waitress got 2 out of 3 orders wrong. Never bother to ask whether or not we needed to order more. Will I come back? Probably not.
(2)James W.
Great Dinner, Got Beef Negimaki for app and side Salas with ginger. For dinner wife got kids hibachi steak meal and a cali roll wrapped in cucumber. I got the fire roll and west Texas roll. The food was awesome the reason for 2 stars our waitress was not good at all messed up my roll with my wife's didn't bring the meals out together. I waited15 more minutes to get my 2nd roll after waitress messed it up. She didn't seam care didn't offer anything to fix the issue. This meal was a $56. I will go back not for the waitress but for the food.
(2)Josh L.
Food was great and the portions are good for the price. Kid's chicken hibachi was only $7 and was a full sized meal. The service by the hibachi chef was awesome. He even put on extra fire shows for my son. My only complaint is that the wait staff could have been a little more attentive. To me, empty dishes should be cleared quickly and drink glasses should be quickly refilled. All in all, a good experience and we will eat here again.
(4)Veronica B.
Fun atmosphere and wait service was prompt. Good selection of spirits, food prep waa fun too. I highly recommend trying from the sushi menu! Great place for a first date or a large group (went for our work holiday party).
(4)Michael N.
Excellent stir fry with medium well cooked beef. The quality of food and atmosphere is great. I also enjoy the private Japanese rooms. The private rooms are great for a date or b2b meeting. If you want a private setting or family or group setting, they always seem to accommodate my needs. I will be bringing my grandmother here soon.
(5)Jenn H.
Came here to give the sushi another go around. Still not one of my favorites. Played it safe by just ordering the rolls. Spider, Dragon, spicy salmon, and crazy cajun rolls. Salmon was a bit "fishy". The others weren't too bad at all. I'm sorry but, this establishment just doesn't wow me. We ordered Green tea...but I do not believe it was green tea, tasted more like Jasmine. ?? On the UP side...GREAT service and ambience.
(2)Miriam A.
This place was awsome. Love the food, the decor and the service. Will so be coming back soon.
(5)Casey K.
The food was excellent. The service was good. Atmosphere was welcoming. But man is the food super pricey. Will only be going here on special occasions.
(4)Jeff M.
I have been here twice now, and I am not sure what to make of it yet. The first time we were here, the host staff was awesome, friendly, answered our questions - awesome! (Then, we had an emergency phone call and left 30 seconds after sitting down). I returned this week, and the host staff seemed utterly confused and annoyed to help me. We sat in one of the private rooms, where the table is actually sunk down, and you sit on the floor (but it feels like you are sitting at a normal table - kind of confusing, I guess). I liked it - I thought it was kind of cool (of course, I love watching the teppan chefs work, and I missed out on that). The food was alright. I felt like the portions were a little small for the price, but it was pretty good. The potstickers were fairly good, although I think they are the same frozen ones that everyone else offers as well. Their fried rice was fantastic!! The only food quality complaint I have was that my salad was a little "juicy" at the bottom, like they did not drain it very well after washing the lettuce. The service was also good and very attentive. I don't recall ever having an empty glass of tea. Ultimately, I would pick Jinja over Hayashi any day of the week. I think the menu is broader and the food quality superior. BUT, I don't eat sushi, so that may be the tie breaker for many of you (Jinja does not do sushi). The teppan angle is a fun dining experience, and I am sure we will be back.
(3)Liz N.
I had gone once and had been pleased. I brought a guest today and was embarrassed. It took 15-20 minutes to get a waiter. The waiter brought both meals on one plate and we had to ask for another plate. We were given 2 saucers. Poor service. Our whole visit was a dissopointment.
(2)Anamarie R.
One star is too generous. Horrible food. For a place that makes me want to dress up, this place is a total crap joint. From the get go the grease traps and hoods smelled so dirty I was tasting grease in the air as we walked in. We chose regular dining do to the smoke at the habachi grill. Our salads came out. Green iceberg and dressing. And interesting mix of thousand island and what I would soon find out, the sweet sauce they serve with their calamari appetizer. Which we had also ordered and not a pleasant surprise. The frozen to fried calamari was so chewy I had never had calamari like that before. We sent it back because it was over fried and freezer burned. Then we ordered a bento box with pork pot stickers, fried rice, shrimp teriyaki and a California roll. And my company ordered the veggie tempura. We were going to share everything to get a full experience of the restaurant. Well not one item in the bento box was edible. The rice was so old and chewy, tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The shrimp for the teriyaki was way over cooked, tough and hard. Luckily the sweet teriyaki made it tolerable because I was so hungry. We ate two pieces each before we grossed out. The california roll was also very dry, and the seaweed had not been properly reconstituted. Yes crunchy seaweed in a california roll. Despite my good instincts I decided to try a pot sticker. Before I could even eat it, I noticed the whole rim was freezer burned. I still tasted it and well, the smell was worse then the looks of it. It was so hard and disgusting. And the brown bead of green they were parked on was horrific, wished I hadn't looked. We still had hopes for a partial meal as we decided to eat the tempura. Started with the asparagus, yummy and perfect. As I decided to try to pick up green chile I noticed the weight. It was so heavy, considering it was tempura and not stuffed in cheese I was curious. I pressed my two fingers down and the greased pooled around my fingers. I dont know what face I made, but my company started laughing uncontrollably, the whole thing did become laughable. So, no to the chile, on to the mushrooms. The tempura batter was so thick, it was completely raw and doughy on the inside. We checked, everything on the platter was like that. That was all returned, wished the server looked surprised. Besides every sauce we were served was in a plastic to go container, and that large menu, the average of $10 a plate, we were looking forward to a great belated birthday lunch. Instead we got gross, frozen to fried food that was sorely disappointing. My clothes and hair smelled like dirty grease when we left which was appropriate for the dark greasy experience we had there. There are so many better choices in the city I cannot believe this place is still open. Now I really miss Bennigan's!

Clean and great service. Tons of items to chose from. Really great for large groups and families.

So last night while running out of ideas to go eat my husband and I decided to try this place out. I know this place is fairly new and we have never tried it so we decided to give it a chance. You get three choices: Dining, Sushi or Hibachi grill. I was interested in the Hibachi until I peeked in the area to find that it is just your typical Teppan. So we decided on dining. The service overall was very good. Our server was very attentive. The food was average . We had ordered grilled squid that was good except it came with teriyaki sauce which to me was unexpected. We also ordered the Yose Nabe which was absolutely amazing. Overall because it was like every other sushi restaurants here in town, I am giving it a three star. We would come back here for the Yose Nabe but that is about it.

I knew from the moment we walked in that this would not be a good visit, and unfortunately I wasn't wrong. First, there was no one at the hostess stand when we entered. Another employee came over to get something from the stand, but he pretty much pretended like he didn't see us, said nothing, and walked away. About 2 minutes later, the hostess came over. She wasn't overly friendly, but did seat us at the hibachi grill as we requested. We visited for lunch during the week, so you would think the staff would have an eye on speed of service since people have to get back to work, but that was definitely not the case. It took well over 5 minutes for us even to be acknowledged by anyone and have our drink orders taken, despite the others at our table being served their soup and salads. Then it took another 8+ minutes to receive our drinks and have our orders taken, which were messed up when given to the chef, but the chef did get them straightened out. After we were finished, it took more than 10 minutes to receive our check, and another 10 minutes for the server to come back to pick it up. Even our check was wrong (by $1, but still..), but the server did not fix it even when we pointed it out to him. He just mumbled something under his breath and walked away. Our meals were fairly tasty, but the portions were not huge for the price. Seriously, by the time we ordered sodas and a hibachi lunch each, $30 plus tip is rather spendy in my opinion. If the service had been up to par, I might think it was worth it. But that was definitely not the case. We won't be returning to Hayashi, and unfortunately I have to recommend that you skip it too.

This review is for regular dining as I've yet to try the table-side cooktop or sushi bar areas. Which surprises me because I enjoy at other similar establishments watching the food being made, but the few times I've been here were for working lunch meetings, and they have been great. All I can say is you must try Bento Box C. This is amazing, and so far it's the only thing I want to eat there. California rolls, veggie and shrimp tempura, teriyaki chicken, plus soup and salad. And the best wasubi in town. It's a lot of food but I just take the left overs for another meal. The Jasmine hot tea is great. The staff are friendly, don't mind you taking the table for a couple of hours with paperwork, and they're great about keeping the tea/soda/water glasses full.

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE SUSHI PRICES ARE PER ONE PIECE!! Nowhere in the country is sushi ordered this way.Making their prices in excess of 6.00 per order more expensive than any city restaurant in the US. When confronted manager was rude and unwilling to do ANYTHING. Manager said that is the way it was ordered in Texas
(1)Jerry L H.
Always great sushi at the bar....lunch specials are good...10 bucks for 3 rolls Wasabi is fresh...atmosphere is quiet
(5)Jerry S.
Saturday afternoon, wasn't busy at all but with a full staff of waiters. I sat at the empty sushi bar, waited 15 minutes before someone noticed me and asked if i wanted something to drink. "Hot green tea, please". She left to grab the drink I guess. I watched as the sushi chefs sat behind the bar, never acknowledged me. Waiters came and went. My tea never arrived, so waiting for more than 25 minutes to order any food.....I just got up and left. I'm sure they didn't notice.... If want any good sushi, go to samurai on Montgomery. Japanese sushi chef that KNOWS fish. Not just some hacks that pack rolls.

Went in on New Year's Eve with my wife & daughter. We didn't have reservations for the grill but put my name down & was told 30-45 minute wait. 20 minutes later we were seated at the grill. The server was quickly upon us & before I even had my jacket off he was asking for our drink orders & our appetizer orders. I told him that I needed to look at the menu first. The place is really really loud. There is no separation from the grill area & the bar. Also there are random outbursts when people apparently do Sake Bombs. Not for the faint at heart. It reminded me of a sports bar with sushi. The waiter took our orders & I thought my order was right... It was half right. I ordered some sushi & it was right but my actual dinner order ended up being wrong. The chef said that he'd fix it and cook what was forgotten but I graciously declined & told him that it wasn't his fault. The food was very good and I enjoyed what I was served with what I received. Although we enjoyed our dinners & our bill was slightly discounted, I probably will not be returning due to the extreme noise level and inaccurate order taking. If you like noisy frat parties, then this is the place for you. But this isn't my bag.
(3)Vincent M.
Lunch Service was terrible. Walked in at 1:45pm and sat at the Sushi Bar hoping it would be fast service. Place was emptying out at this time. Waitress asked for drink order and disappeared. Asked Sushi Chefs for menu to no avail. 15 minutes later walked out and went to Azuma where I was served promptly. Should of went to Azuma first.
(1)Amy B.
I really enjoy the sushi here! We ate lunch at Hayashi and had wonderful food and great service. I have never eaten from their teppan grill, but I'm sure it's good!
(4)Sara P.
I was let down with my experience at Hayashi. We went as a group of 4, asking to be seated at the grills. Our waiter tried to be helpful but he wasn't very informative, which was a must considering none of us had been to a hibachi grill before. My friend and I ordered cocktails, her a pina colada and me a wine based rum mixer. When she got hers, she said it tasted funny. We asked the waiter and apparently, though not listed on the menu, they use saki as an ingredient. She chose that drink because it didn't have saki in it. Fail. My sushi loving friend and I ordered the Dynamite role. It was delicious but hard to eat because it was rolled so large. There were only 5 pieces, so it seemed too fat and too few. Tasty though. Our main dish was the hibachi teryaki beef, a safe choice for my friend who is a asian food newbie and the rest of us, who were ordering safe as first timers. Our chef was great, very skilled and entertaining, but the rice and noodles were very tasteless, bland and got hard quickly. The teryaki beef was somewhat flavorless. I'd be willing to try this place again, but at those prices, I'd skip the hibachi, maybe try a bento box or sushi, but over all.... not a place I'd recommend or go back to unless someone I was with chose it.
(2)Tricia K.
The sushi here is horrible. The portions are tiny and the fish is skimpy. Do not eat sushi here, I cannot comment on the other food. I am a long time sushi snob and I understand that getting authentic sushi in a town like ABQ is near impossible. But I will not eat here again.
(1)L.C B.
Everytime we go to eat there the food is great, the service is great. The server Micheal is great. I recommend you request him as your server.
(5)Adriana M.
If I could describe this place in 1 word it would be bland and boring. It seems like the money is spent on trendy lamps and high quality forks, but not on the quality of food. Miso tasted like water (how does any Asian restaurant mess that up?!?!?) I ordered a roll from a picture, when I got it, it didn't look like the picture... The waiter said they needed to update the pictures... Horrible- will never go back!!!!
(1)Jenn W.
When this place first opened it was great! Great service, clean, good food and an all around great experience. Oh how times have changed. The place has gotten sloppy in all domains - the service is bad, food portions are inconsistent, even the pricing is inconsistent (every times husband gets a side of noodles it's a different price!?!!). We always sit in the dining area so maybe the grill is better.
(2)Kris P.
Such a great place! I've eaten both the Hyashi and the sushi, both are delicious and worth the price. Order the white tuna- the buttery tuna will melt in your mouth! Highly recommended for any sushi or Japanese enthusiast.
(5)Chrissy K.
Yumm! We have tried this place when it first opened and have been fans since. Both the dining and the grill were delicious. Never have had bad service or rude waiters. Try to go with people you know when eating at the grill, last time we were there it was an awkward meal with a couple on one side of us arguing with passive aggressive comments, the other couple were terribly rude. The food is always good. Delicious sushi! Always very happy to eat here when we visit.
(4)Isaiah P.
One of our go to places! I never get tired of this place, everything on the menu is very good! A friendly atmosphere that is laid back and children friendly.
(5)A C.
We tried the omakase sushi, bento box C, and the hibachi steak. All of them very good. The only drawback was the loud, drunk patrons doing sake bombs next to us in the dining room. Too bad this place attracts that kind of people.
(4)Peter L.
Food: 1 Service: 3 Value: 1 So we decided to try Hayashi since we've never been there before. Probably should've reviewed some of the other Yelp reviews before we decided to go. I ordered the Hibachi Beef Teriyaki dinner, and the wife ordered the sukiyaki. The sukiyaki was basically stir fry beef, with glass noodles, in a soup. No egg, just in a soup. Pretty bland, bad, and not remotely close to a sukiyaki. The hibachi beef came with some veggies with 2 shrimp on top, buttered noodles (?), and fried rice. The veggies were decent, the noodles were confusing (buttered noodles at a Japanese restaurant?), the fried rice was nothing to write home about, and the hibachi beef was inedible. I'm not sure how much lighter fluid they put on the beef, but it was disgusting and hard. Avoid this dish at all costs. The only saving grace was that the server was apologetic about the food, took the food back, and had us move to the grill... where we then saw firsthand how they were preparing the food. Upon seeing what they did at the grill, there was no way we were getting anything from the grill. Wife ordered a sushi roll (which they got wrong, and we had to send it back again), and I ordered (out of sheer frustration) the pork tonkatsu... because it's pretty much impossible to screw up a pork tonkatsu. The restaurant tries to put up a good front as a Japanese restaurant, the food is nowhere near authentic. Completely not worthwhile.
(2)Nicole O.
I'm such a fan of Hayashi! I went their for my bachlorette party a few years ago and it was a hit. They gave us great service. I often go for lunch and the BMW Roll is a MUST try, its the best roll ever and I tend to crave it. lol But every time I go, every body that I take enjoys themselves.
(4)Daniel G.
I love this place! Fairly new/renovated location. I usually order the calamari hibachi steak and I have never been disappointed. I have brought friends and relatives here on numerous occasions and they all have wanted to come back again. The prices, especially at lunch, are hard to beat. Your meal comes with soup, salad, fried rice, and vegetables. Definitely a place worth trying out!
(5)Lorna N.
I have been to Hyashi a handful of times and each time is a different experience. Sometimes it is amazing and other times not so great. I had a bad experience this time. I know most people state they go for the Sushi, but I went for the Teppan Grill. My experience this trip was not good. We waited 20 min to be sat, because they wouldn't seat us "until our whole party arrived" I explained we were only waiting on one person and I knew what sushi they wanted. They still didn't sit us. Let me add that this was a Monday night and it was dead. We got seated and to make a long story short we waited 1 hr and 15 min before our chef came to our table to cook. We had a toddler with us and the wait was ridiculous! I kept seeing workers everywhere standing around and actually saw our chef sitting at the bar too busy drinking beer to cook our food.) There was no reason what so ever to leave people waiting so long for food when you've already taken their order.
(2)Patricia A.
Great food and good service. Dinner was tasty and our waiter was friendly and attentive. Lunch is affordable, love their bento boxes
(4)Bri P.
Told 10 min. Then waited 40 min while they sat several people in front of us who had been waiting less. Slow. Unfriendly.
(1)Ricky M.
I came here for a luncheon with my work and like any other teppan around everything was pretty standard and really didn't WOW me much. I had the steak and shrimp teppan along with a sumo roll which was pretty good. Overall I would go to Japanese kitchen or Azuma over this place.
(3)Andrew L.
Ordered teriyaki salmon lunch and teriyaki chicken bento box. The salmon tasted like fresh water fish, muddy taste. Benyo box was ok.
(2)Patrick F.
It's too bad I didn't get to try any food. We were sat at our table and waited for our server for over 10 minutes. So my wife and I just got up and left without anyone saying a word to us! We went to I Love Sushi just down the street and had miso soup, salad, and water served to us about 30 seconds after being seated.
(1)Christina H.
A typical teppan grill with good food. Nice atmosphere and pretty good service.
(3)Sandra N.
I really like this place. Great happy hour prices for Stella and that's may favorite, served frosty cold. The place is newer so the restaurant is really pretty and definitely gives it the one-up on the other local Japanese grills. The prices are average I think for this type of dinning. They have private rooms available, and even floor seating if you're into that. Over all awesome experience, great for keeping the whole family entertained!!
(4)Matt A.
We love this place

3 starts for a mixed review. Food: Great, no complaints here. Price was comparable to what I would expect to pay. Service: A mess. Order took way too long to be brought to us. Miso soup took 20 minutes to come out and practically came out with our entree. Half the entree showed up after waiting about 30 minutes. Then it took another 20 minutes for the other half to be brought to us. The waitress had put in the order twice so we had to clear that up as well. This resulted in food being brought to us, then disappearing and then being brought to us again. It was very strange. Finally payment. We asked to split the charge between two cards. Mine and my brothers. The waitress split the charges and then used the same card twice. She was a mess. Food was great if you have 90 minutes to eat sushi.
(3)Glen C.
This is probably pretty unfair of me to judge a "Japanese" restaurant that's located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. First, I blame myself for going and second, what else could have I expected? Hayashi is basically a Benihana's without the crowd and with a little more emphasis on the sushi. I had the bento box and a "Dragon Roll." The "chicken" in my bento box was rubbery, old and hard. It had zero flavor and was just awful. The miso soup was ... different. California roll pieces that came with it was just sad.. imitation crab meat obviously... but it had a distinct odor... The Dragon Roll was smothered in some sauce... I had zero clue ... but I was so hungry, I just muscled it down my throat. It does get loud since there are TV's blaring and teppan yaki chefs doing their thing. The wait staff were abundant but a lot of them were really chatty amongst themselves and there seemed to be a lot of sitting around.
(2)Intrepid T.
Another in the growing list of ABQ's non-Japanese "Japanese" restaurants. The food is less then mediocre. My sushi scallop was served with jalapeños and then topped with tobiko!! This is absolutely the worst japanese restaurant in ABQ. Also, drunken dudes shouting and doing shots of sake makes the place seem more like a sports bar. I would rate this place a minus number if I could.
(1)Ramona H.
Place was soooo dirty from my chair to the utensils. And to top it off the sushi wasn't fresh. Our waiter was pretty quick though. That's about the only good thing i experienced. I will never go back.
(1)Keira M.
Such a fun place to have a large group. We went here for my birthay and I was treated like a celebrity. The food is fresh and the staff is hilarious. I highly recommend this place.
(4)Dave M.
A typical teppan grill with good food. Nice atmosphere and pretty good service. Service: A mess. Japanese" restaurant that's located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. should say enough
(2)Brian E.
We stopped here for happy hour and decided to sit at the bar and have a few drinks and appetizers. I had soft shell crab; don't do it! Hardly any crab meat and didn't have any flavor. The rest of the aps we had were just ok, certainly not memorable. I tried making small talk with the bartender who seemed to have a chip on his shoulder and ended up in him discussing how much he hated Albuquerque and how his native Houston was just beautiful and glorious. Yah OK 'rolls eyes'. I won't won't be back.
(2)DavidDavid M.
The food is great here, but getting a table from the clueless teenage hostesses is the challenging part. They are more interested in talking about the party after work then seating guests. They will literally forget you are in the waiting area even though you are ten feet away from them. Try to call and complain, the phone is always busy. I'll stick with PF Changs.

The dining option here is our favorite. We can stop in for lunch on a weekday, pay half the price of the teppan grill experience, and the plate is identical. It's just quicker. This is one of our family's favorite options for a special lunch or dinner together. The food is excellent, and very consistent.

I tried this place again with a friend and then once again recently. The sushi has been very tasty the past two times so I'm increasing my rating for this place. I really like the ambiance. There is a considerable amount of fish and good quality fish in their rolls. Quite filling. I have yet to try the teppan but I'll have to check it out sometime soon. We sat at the bar the last two times I've been here. Both times the wait staff have been very friendly and attentive. We're very excited we now have another sushi option in the NE Heights. :-)

Great atmosphere, great customer service, and really good food. We went there thinking it was something else and just decided to go in. Very happy!
(5)Ramona H.
Very disappointed at how dirty the restaurant was and our sushi wasn't fresh.
(1)Jonathan M.
Amazing experience!! Lucked out w chef but gonna go back just because of him... Showed us an egg roll by rolling an egg across grill, and a butterfly by tossing the butter in the air. Best experience ever at a Japanese restaurant... Cambodian chef not sure his name but request him!!!!
(5)Rachel M.
We went with a group of 4 for the hibachi. The cook put on a good show and the food was prepared perfectly, not too salty and fresh ingredients. The restaurant itself was very nicely decorated and had a nice ambience. Would go for 5 stars, but the price was a little high. If I came back to Albuquerque, I would come again.

Beautiful restaurant! Delicious Japanese food with very good presentation! Menu has so much to choose from for a sushi and Japanese food lover like me. Not over priced to me at all! In fact, reasonably priced. I was like a kid in a candy store. Finally a Japanese restaurant I like!! Satomi was such an awesome server. One comment about dessert, which we waited so patiently for. We ordered the Tempura Banana for dessert, and they were out of bananas and the chef went out of his way to leave and buy bananas. When Satomi came back to announce that the bananas were here, she exclaimed "The bananas arrived!" With her Japanese accent, my husband thought she said that the bananas were alive (lol) A little more chocolate sauce on it would have made it worth the wait. The only thing I didn't care for were the black toilets.

have to drop one star as i think the service could have been a tad bit better, but could be that they are so new. also, get rid of the television in the room where we ate. the cooks did a terrific job here. the food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was great. have eaten a lot of teppan over the years, and this compares with the best of them. the steak was extremely tender and the scallops were superb. the rest of our party ordered lobster combos, and there was no skimping on the portions. was suprised to have fried rice on the plate and not in a bowl---a first for me. definitely will be back
(4)Roland L.
The place is pricey but service makes it worth your while. The service people are very attentive. It's a good place to bring a group of friends or bring on a date. BTW, the food is good and enough to fill you up if you're really hungry. Overall, it's all good.
(4)Jen T.
The Tappan grill was wonderful. We had two picky kids and the chef was very accommodating. The food was very delicious. We had tempura (which the kids loved). Sushi was good. And the food off the grill was very good! So fat this is my favorite Tappan grill in Albuquerque.
(5)Jill M.
(5)Alyssa T.
(5)Elise C.
It's a zoo.
(3)Victoria G.
(4)James H.
(5)Michael N.
(4)Jenn W.
(2)Alicia H.
(5)Anamarie R.

(1)Christina H.
A typical teppan grill with good food. Nice atmosphere and pretty good service.
(3)James O.
(2)Jeff M.
(2)A R.
(3)Lorna N.
(4)Patrick F.
(1)Matt A.
We love this place
(4)Brian E.
(1)Peter L.

The dining option here is our favorite. We can stop in for lunch on a weekday, pay half the price of the teppan grill experience, and the plate is identical. It's just quicker. This is one of our family's favorite options for a special lunch or dinner together. The food is excellent, and very consistent.

Very happy!

Very disappointed at how dirty the restaurant was and our sushi wasn't fresh.

The place is pricey but service makes it worth your while. The service people are very attentive. It's a good place to bring a group of friends or bring on a date. BTW, the food is good and enough to fill you up if you're really hungry. Overall, it's all good.
