The setup here is good for a sports bar. The TV's are everywhere and the seating is nice. The staff is friendly also. Now let's get to the nitty gritty. Yes I know that this place is owned by O'Neils, but I was hoping for better beer prices. I can go to any other sports bar in town and pay the same for more beer. The pizza was a B, just edging the c+ grade. The appetizers we had were good but the pricing is a bit high. I could deal with higher food prices though if the beer prices and selection were better. This place could be a slam dunk but I probably won't go back for a whole game on the tele. I like my money and I plan on keeping some of it.

Upscale sports bar, clean, good furniture and design. Choose your game and the staff puts it on the nearest TV for you. Very helpful getting us our food in time for us to make the game nearby. Good menu with what you expect plus a good ceasar salad. The Gioco IPA was real tasty and fresh. We were looking for a soccer-mad setting...most of the crowd was watching American football. Good addition to Albuquerque's roster and near the sports complex at Cesar Chavez and University.

What I expect to experience at a sports bar in ABQ, or anywhere else, for that matter: Female servers in skimpy outfits. Drunk fans. Wangs (yeah, wings, but ya gotta call 'em wangs). Messy, crappy mixed drinks. Lite beer. What I found at Gioco: a cool mix of male and female servers, in smart outfits, generally sporting polos and respectable attire. Sober fans. Good beer, including the Gioco White IPA, very respectable. Smart food: wangs, indeed, but not the focus. Appetizers included Korean pork ribs and pork belly. Sandwiches and salads compete for prominence with the pizza, which was indeed uninspired. Don't do the pizza. Do the sammies. Overall, the space emphasizes a modern sports lover feel. It's a box, TVs line every inch, and when I visited the Bears/Packers fans owned it, the sound was loud, only for that game. The north wall frames a huge screen, one of the biggest I've seen in town. My Italian sammie was very tasty, my wife's Cobb Salad was pretty good, but yo, a Cobb should have bleu cheese, right? Nada. One recurring menu ingredient is the jalapeño bacon, which is indeed a spicy variation on the crowd fave. Your tastebuds will be lit. Smart, modern, tables are a little too tight. I'd watch a game here. Once the Vikes get it together, that is.

Subpar Sports Bar. Have been here a couple times and sampled a fair portion of the menu. The only thing I really liked was the Thanksgiving Sandwich. The pasta salad was inedible, pizza was comparable to chain delivery, and the salad was boring. The atmosphere is what you'd expect from a sports bar and the service is just okay. Overall I'd say look elsewhere for your food and football fix.

Sports bar with lots of tv's. The stuffed mushrooms are good and the nachos are solid. Would come back for beers to see a game.

Their menu has changed. A lot of the items are from O'Niell's menu. Gioco doesn't have a fryer and I know a lot of people wanted fried food when they watch sports! So they did what I thought they should do, offer food from O'Niell's. Pork belly is gone and no more hummus. Wings are fried now (courtesy of O'Niell's). They still have their wonderful pizzas.

Having been a customer of O'Niell's for 20 years, we decided to try their new sports bar. The decor is modern with high and regular tables We counted 16 flat screens. Service was fine. The server was still learning about the wine selection. The craft beer on tap is limited and not cheap. Good that Stone IPA is on tap. The Italian sandwich priced at $12 was not up to that standard. The pizza was loaded with cheese and garlic. There is much better at other venues. Since this is really part of O'Niell's, we expected more for a new venture. We probably will not return.

The food was Awful, simply awful. Waitress gets an A for effort.

The pros: Good food, great service, great setup for sports. The con: Outrageously expensive for Abq.!! Far too expensive without specials. Not cheap, but spending $100 on some drinks & food for the game for two is excessive. Don't recommend unless there is some sort of special happening.

I really wanted to love this place. Visit 1: We loved all the tvs and modern decor, the food was mediocre but everything was overpriced about $2 too much, service was good. Took some friends back before a Lobo game to try again and the kitchen was in the weeds so bad we waited 1hr for a salad and appetizer and finally had to cancel cause it was never made. I understand that items get lost but to top it off we asked for guacamole and chips to hold us over and it came out frozen. The manager and waitress were very nice and professional about it, maybe they will get the kinks worked out .

Not your typical sports bar. Way more classy with better food. Try the "Salumera" and "Carne Adovada" pizzas!

Awesome atmosphere and a much needed sports bar for the area! Lots of room inside and great TV viewing.... That being said the food could use a little work. I'm hoping it's because this place is still so new. Everything on the menu sounded so delicious and was priced well that we had a hard time deciding what to order. We ordered the Italian sandwich with pasta salad and the carne adovada nachos to share. It all arrived to our table surprisingly fast and was presented well. Then it kinda went downhill.... When we ordered the nachos, I was expecting typical New Mexican carne adovada with a red chile sauce, and lots of green chile and jalapeños on top. That's not what we got. Instead there were a few chunks of pork (well flavored but not saucy), a smattering of green chile (maybe frozen... Definitely not roasted), and a few pieces of jalapeño. I was disappointed. It really lacked flavor and spice! The sandwich was a little better, but the cheese wasn't completely melted so the spinach and olives kept falling out, and the pasta salad had WAY too much dressing that was also a little oddly flavored. Overall it was decent and based on how yummy O'Neills food is I expect that the quality will get better. We will be back!
