Furr's... it's a name most New Mexican's know well enough. Probably most of us from childhood and from there being way more of these than there are now. It used to be our requisite "Friday night dinner" place. Cheap enough, good enough, and the kiddos could find things to eat, too. I remember when they were set up far differently than they are now. The line you went through to get your food and then sit down? Well, that's a thing of the past! Now you go through a buffet-type room and pick up your own stuff. The exceptions are the carved meat and the steaks. Steaks are a little hard to find, you have to realize you can go to the back counter and ask for them (behind the carved meats). If they try to give you one out of the little boiling water pot they have, don't fall for it though. According to two employees, that's not now this should be done. You can request a newly made steak and they need to actually do it for you. When they're fresh, they're actually quite tasty. (Boiled.. nope.) The quality was better the past few times I went in comparison to the last one. Not sure what was going on, it was only 7:30 and all the tables were filthy, the food was mediocre... and my stomach hurt after I left. The other times were MUCH better. I know there was a huge party in the back, so maybe all attention was on them. Either way, that's where the 3 stars comes from this time, guys!

Very disappointing. Must of gotten spoiled at Golden Corral's breakfast. Have had dinners here and they have been fine. Expected the same for breakfast. Not even close. All food, sausage, bacon, eggs, etc, were merely warm, not even close to being hot. You have no one making omelets, eggs to order, or even waffles. No milk unless you want to pay extra. The more I think about it, more of a one star than the two I generously gave when starting the review. Oh, and the price...... $20.00 for two? Are you kidding me?

Good food and service. They didn't have my favorites though which include the sweet potatoes casserole. Overall I always find the food consistent and good. You won't find many better buffet options than this.

Got here right before the change from breakfast to dinner. Great start to my day! There is just something about a plate of mashed potatoes, gravy and mac n cheese that make me happy! Fried chicken here is delicious. They are busy enough that the food is always fresh. Service is better than any other buffet I've been to. I have been eating at furrs since the old ladies would serve you in a line. And I have every intention of working here when I'm old and gray...that's how much I like this place.

When google searched the infornation says the open at 10:45. 5he Door says 11am. yhe food this day was typical good Furrs bufett food. Typical selection. Everything was fresh. Thank you Furr's fresh buffet!

Shhhhh....don't tell anyone but I like this place almost to the point of giving it 4 stars just for the nostalgia alone. It took me back to the days, where as kids when a trip to Furr's Cafeteria was a treat. No frills, simple American favorites. Even as recently as 3 years ago my Dad suggested the Furr's Cafeteria on Coors and I-40. I didn't object. When my brother brought this up as an option on my last visit I was skeptical because I did have the option to go to some of my other ABQ favorites, but I decided to give it a try. I am typically not a fan of American food buffets (i.e. Hometown Buffets, etc), we stood in a short line (and beat the crowds in by about 30 minutes). I believe it was about $9 per person including a beverage. Our server greeted us promptly and brought us our drinks. I proceeded to wander through the stations. Looking to see that they had all the favorites I remembered as a kid. [Of course I never strayed far from my usual here.]. They had 2 salad stations one salad bar and another with the mixed salad favorites. I saw my favorite carrot and raisin salad here. Wandering through the other stations, the options seemed endless. Baked and fried fish and shrimp, baked and fried chicken, chopped steak, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy (white and brown), macaroni and cheese, turnip greens, green beans with bacon, okra, fresh bread and rolls......OH I COULD GO ON...... furrs.net/menus_complete… The flavors and quality were just as I remembered. Not gourmet wonders that teased the palate....but simple home cooked flavors. The desert bar was loaded with all the favorites. I had to flip a coin between a piece of pecan pie or the millionaire pie.....millionaire won the toss. My brother also informed me that this location also has breakfast (I think it is just on weekends).

The food is plentiful and mediocre. There is quite a lot of selection, though. Several fish, chicken, beef, and pork dishes, some different breads and starches, a middling salad bar (lots of toppings, but only iceberg/romaine, no spinach). The meats are mostly fried or coated in sweet or greasy sauces, and are sometimes tough from sitting under the hot lights. The food is overall both salty and bland. On the other hand, you can eat a lot of meat and drink unlimited soda (Pepsi... shudder) for around $10. So there's that. If you're looking for a place with an actual variety of "fresh" salad/greens and hot items with actual flavors, you would be better off paying the same amount at Sweet Tomatoes.

Furr's seems to be that spot that my better half and I can always agree on. Those evenings where we each desire something quite different usually ends in a trip to Furr's. The offerings vary and unlike the old cafeteria style, here you serve yourself the heaps and mounds of your liking at your discretion. My favorites usually include the mac and cheese the chicken fried steak and oh of course the Millionaire Pie, which I urge you to save room for.

We flew in from the Bay Area on business for 5 days. We ate here the first night we were here. It was the first time eating at a Furr's because we don't have a Furr's in California. It was dinner time and the place was full of people. The food was wonderful, lots of dinner things to choose from. The salad bar and dessert bar were wonderful. My sister hates this place. I don't know why. It isn't haute cuisine, but it isn't government subsidized food, either. I like that they have options for just about everybody. The salad bar has lots of toppings. There is even another cold bar that has jello and cold things like cole slaw, carrot salad and other things that I associate with older folk. Those who are vegetarian are going to be fine here. I like that there are usually several kinds of fish out. I like the baked fish. If they have the tamales out, I'll eat one. They are small but tasty. I usually also grab a hamburger patty. If I want a burger, I can grab a bun from the nearby bread/dessert station. There are multiple desserts options. Service is generally pretty good, depending on who is your server. If you like people watching, this is the perfect place for you.

Eating at Furr's on Wyoming and Menaul was the most disgusting experience of my life! We used to eat there when it was a cafeteria, and though I wouldn't have given it 5 stars it would have at least received 3. I only rated it 1 because it won't let you give it a 0. There was a woman eating a roll while strolling the different eating bars with food falling out of her mouth onto the tables! I wanted to vomit! People will run you over to get to the food and I'm not exaggerating. Another time the manager was wiping his nose with his finger! Again... vomit. The last straw was at the dessert bar when a man was serving himself and licking his fingers! I wouldn't eat here if I were starving to death and it was the only food on earth!

During this single visit I witnessed an old lady scrape mashed potatoes off the serving spoon with her finger, a man thumbing through the cheese slices with his bare hands, an old man picking up and inspecting every piece of fried chicken with his hands and finally an unsupervised child reaching into the jello container with his hands and shoving jello into his fat face. I can't even imagine what I didn't see.
