6/24/13 Update: So I went back to Forque with 2 dear friends and my Mother-in-Law for a sad, yet celebratory occasion. My one friend boldly walked up to the open kitchen and asked to speak to the chef. She then tasked Chef Ernesto Duran to come up with a multi-course tasting menu for our table. He did, and it was delightful! Not only did he serve us 3 wonderful courses, but when I mentioned after the salmon course that my one friend wasn't a huge fish fan (though she snarfed up Chef Duran's Salmon like a champ!), Chef added a 4th, skirt steak course that was as awesome as the prior 3. Plus, after each course, Chef came out to our table to personally ask how we were enjoying the course...it was a nice touch that made us feel special. Finally, we ended on a beautiful flourless chocolate "lava" cake with homemade marshmallows (that totally made the dish for me). What a lovely evening we all had. So go to Forque, people. It's a great, almost too quiet place with a nice wine list and lovely food. Plus, I'm pretty sure Chef Duran took over from the former Chef (whose name now escapes me), and I love that they support the growth of their staff, which is as it should be. Way to go, Chef Duran!!

Sunday night for an anniversary celebration. Our waiter could not have been more attentive. The new renovations were very comfortable. We had an infant with our party, and although we were aware of other parties in the restaurant, the noise level was very subdued. The flat iron steak melted in your mouth. The short ribs, although not served on the bone as one might have expected, were nicely done. The salmon was also well cooked, and the sauce added to the flavor. The wine list was reasonable, and not overwhelming in its content. All in all, a very pleasant dining experience for a very special occasion.

We went here because they have been getting voted as one of the better places in ABQ. I've got to say don't waste your time and your money. We tried both soups, one was thickened with flour and the other that should be a flavorful bright one was flat, and the cilantro that should be used as a garnish to add flavor had been cooked in it was dead and slimy. The Prime Rib was well cooked but the gnocchi it was paired with sparse and dry. The desert was also lack luster as well. This reaffirmed why I say away from establishments in hotels 9 times out of 10.

Swanky little restaurant conveniently located in a hotel downtown. We stopped in here for a quick lunch on a business trip since the selections are limited if you don't want subway or any other deli food. The quesadilla apps were just enough for a small meal; the pulled chicken was really seasoned and cooked well. My colleague had the salmon and said it was pretty fresh - quite the compliment in a landlocked state from a San Fran dweller. The staff was courteous and attentive. We will be back.

Located in the heart of downtown Albuquerque Forque Kitchen and Bar is a diamond in the rough! I was staying at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque in town for a round of golf and decided to come down to the hotel restaurant Forque for dinner, and boy was I glad i did! First thing I must comment on was how amazingly receptive and courteous the hotel and restaurant staff were during my stay, truly an experience! The server, the server assistant, and even the head Sous Chef continually made sure my meal and my experience were above par, pun intended. The quality and presentation of the meal was without question 5 star! I will definitely be coming back on my next trip!

I'm a big fan of "new American" cuisine but there are too few choices in ABQ. When a new chef comes to town, it's a big deal! So, finding Forque was a real treat. Although the services was slow (but very courteous) the food was excellent and well worth the 30+ min wait. We're carnivores - the flat iron steak and braised short ribs were among the best we've had (including East & West coast). Chef, we hope you love ABQ as much as we do - keep on cookin'.

This medium sized restaurant, located in the Hyatt Regency downtown, serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The food at the Forque for breakfast was very good but I can't say much about lunch or dinner as I was other places. It is a bit spendy at approximately $15.00 a head. It was a good buffet of French toast, bacon, sausage, and two other hot dishes plus watermelon, cantelope, honeydew, bannanas and other fruit. Add to that cheese, breads, pastries, juices of many kinds, and made to order eggs and omelets plus more. Buffet includes coffee as well. There was a menu if you didn't care for the buffet. The weekdays the servers were extremely service oriented and I was impressed by the customer service. However, during the weekend the servers were like college kids at a party. They greeted you when they felt like it, chit chatted about their plans for the weekend, huddled around a station in front of the cooks. The drinks didn't get filled up as fast, the plates not picked up as often and the check slow to come. The seater was professional and polite all days. The restaurant has restrooms inside the facility so you don't have to go to the lobby. Plenty of seating if you wanted to work at your table. It was a good place to go if you wanted protein and wouldn't have breakfast at your business meeting. Lots of leisure travelers on the weekend and families with young children. Overall though it was pleasant and I would return.

GREAT FOOD GREAT SERVICE. The portion sizes are amazing. Definitely will be going back! Had the scallops, husband had the flank steak both amazing. Our Waitor was very helpful with any questons, and the chef walked around asking if everything was ok not very many restaurants do that anymore. Cant wait to go back :)

I have been to Forque two times. The food and atmosphere are very good but the servers and frontline staff are BAD. There is not a shortage of staff but they are disinterested in customer service. Nobody was there to greet us at the door and we were unsure for quite a while of what we should do. The place was slow on both days we were there with more staff than customers, but still service sucks. The staff hides and occasionally show themselves and they walk around a lot but they rarely complete a task. We were watching them work while we were being ignored. The waiter on our last visit had an attitude and never introduced himself and never came back to see how we were doing. To say the truth that happened on our first visit too. He got snippy because I had to get persistent to get water refills and to get him to take our card so we could LEAVE. When he gave us back our card he just said "there". The males working there are wearing baggy faded jeans with untucked baggy striped shirts. They do not look like they are professional. The busser never completely finished cleaning a table. If you go there I hope you drink something else besides water because they serve you with a small glass and never refill it unless you can catch one of the elusive inattentive staff members and you are EXTREMELY patient in waiting for them to finally get back with you at their convenience There are a lot more restaurants out there that have good service and they have similar prices and those restaurants are packed with happy customers.
