We've eaten at Flamez several times, and I'd like to be able to say I like this restaurant more than I do. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean and in a convenient location. The menu has some interesting choices. But the last three or so times we've eaten there (which is a period of six or eight weeks), the deep fried things, like fish and chips, onion rings, and the asparagus appetizer, which used to be our favorite, have suffered from being way overly breaded, which really ruins the flavor. We were hoping the first time was a fluke, but no such luck. Still, the Angus beef burgers are good, and my wife loves the omelets. So give Flamez a try, but avoid the fried stuff.

Awful. We waited 40 minutes for our food. The waitress said "sorry, they (presumably referring to the cook) take forever." Luckily my two year old had her "mickey spaceship" game to keep her occupied but once the food came it was bad. My daughter's mac and cheese was full of pepper and my burger was underdone. As we were the leaving the cook (who is in plain sight) sneezed all over someone's food. Y. U. C. K.

This place was good. They have a nice selection of meats for the burgers. I had a chicken wrap. The salad that can with it was fresh an the chicken in my wrap, cooked really well. It was a little pricey, so this isn't one of our "go to" places to eat.

Food is great. What I look for in restaurant food. Unfortunately after eating here for a 3rd time and receiving rude service from the same waitress, as well as witnessing how she treats all the customers I will not be returning. She acts like were all a bother to her and her time. She does not belong in any job based on customer service. 5 star burgers is just as good and service there stands out positively compared to these experiences.

I am struggling to properly rate this place, the server described the menu and it started off great then he forgot out drinks after being reminded twice. I ordered the fish tacos and thought they were great. However everyone else ordered a burger and they all complained. Dry and flavorless they also forgot to add bacon to one of the burgers and wound up bringing two slices on the side. I did try the onion rings and they were undercooked grease soaked messes. So for 8 bucks for a plain burger and 3.75 for a side of onion rings go to five guys. If you want a decent fish taco come here.

This would probably be my favorite burger joint if I lived in the Heights. The selection of meats alone is enough to give Flamez the title, grass fed beef, buffalo, venison, lamb and salmon, could keep a burger eating fool busy for awhile. But, even better, they taste good too. My little group had the beef, the buffalo, and the lamb, with everyone super happy. There's a choice of cheeses and other toppings like grilled onions or avocado. But wait... One more choice, homemade Kettle chips? Fries? Sweet Potato Fries? Tater tots? You get the picture. The fries came out hot and the kettle chips were awesome. The selection of brews needs to expand, but the brews that were available (Santa Fe and Marble) were cold. I'd say Go!

Just moved back to the area and have now been here twice in a span of only a few weeks. Don't be fooled by the size of the restaurant it may be small the the menu is huge. He wait staff is friendly, accommodating and seeing your dishes come right off the burner is amazing. First visit I had an angus burger with side of sweet potato fries. The burger was juicy, perfectly cooked to order, the fries were delicious. Also fell in love with the green chile Mac n cheese. On the second visit we started with the asparagus fries based on our server's recommendation, asparagus fried with tempura batter and a Gorgonzola aioli, de-licous. For my meal I opted for a burger salad. The Greek comes with a lamb burger that was falling apart on the salad it was so juicy. The Greek dressing is homemade and delicious in flavor. Sampled my husband's Cuban sandwich and it was perfect. Already planning my next meal!

This is the best burger in ABQ. Starting with the meat selections: Angus beef, grass fed beef, bison, lamb, venison, salmon. I had the lamb burger with goat cheese avocado and a fried egg. One of the best burgers I've had anywhere. Came back again to try the venison but they had just run out so I had the lamb again. The food is made in the open, leading to my only nitpick being you could see the cooks getting snotty with the wait staff. Probably the reason you can't see the cooks in most restaurants. Btw also tried five star burgers also very good with really good bread, but flamez is definitely still the better of the two.

Very unsatisfied! I brought my grandmother in for lunch during a weekday because she wanted to try something new. We were seated and given menus...now keep in mind my grandmother is 91 and cannot eat a full meal. I asked the waitress for a senior menu and she said they did not have one. I then asked for a kids menu and she said you had to be 12 and under to order from it. I explained my grandmother cannot eat such a large portion but the waitress said it was management policy. After asking for an exception and being told no my grandmother and I decided to leave. Very sad seniors are treated this way and we will not recommend this place to anyone.

Went here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon with a good friend at her recommendation. This is the kind of funky little place I love to find this close to home. If it continues to impress like this visit it will become a go-to for my family along with 5-star burgers. Crazy diverse menu - like a bunch of middle eastern items plus fish tacos...WHAT????? My bud had the gyro and sweet potato fries because she is apparently addicted to them. I did try the fries and they were perfectly thin and crispy. I had the chicken schwarma because I had never tried it before and it sounded like something I would like, and it was delicious. I would probably try something else next time but that is just because I want to try everything. I saw the table next to me receive their burgers. Wow. Ginormous, seriously. I wanted to stay and see if they were able to unhinge their jaws to get a bite. Unfortunately I got distracted by my glass of pinot grigio....Mildly snotty waiter but pretty good service and super food.

Fantastic food -all around. I had lamb burger with bacon, carmelized onions & Swiss. It was bodacious -juicy, tasty, perfectly done!! Run, don't walk to this place! BEST BURGER IN ABQ, hands down!!!

My husband and I had lunch there today. We had gotten take out a week or so ago based on other peoples reviews. We live very close but didn't know it was there. What a delight. We each tried something different this time. I had the mexican bowl (EXCELLENT) and my husband had the chicken sandwich with salad. THE SALADS ARE SO... FRESH WOW!!. Everyone there was busy with their job but the service was incredible. So friendly and helpful. There are so many things to try and it all looks great. No need to be stuck when he wants this and you want that. Creative food that you just don't see everywhere and they aim to please, which they did. We will be back again and again!

Got the buffalo burger and it was bland and was frozen Patty. Bun was dry and fell apart while eating. Wife's grass fed beef patty also tasted frozen and not like any other grass fed beef I have ever had. They burned our side as well. The sweet potato fries were the best part of the meal.

The server needed training. Got there at 12:15 on a Friday, which should be lunch time. The dining area was nearly empty, but it still took over 25 minutes for the cook to prepare our burgers. It would not have bothered us, but he was only working on our ticket for two bugers. I had the lamb with feta cheese, my friend had angus with chedder/green chili. The food seemed ok, but several hours later, my friend and I both paid dearly :-/ 5 Star Burgers is by far better!!!

Went for a late lunch on a Thursday with the wife. Never heard the waitresses name but she was very attentive to our needs. Started with the asparagus fries which were very unusual but excellent! Wife had the Comfort bowl which she said was very tasty and cooked correctly. I had the Buffalo burger with egg, bacon and jalapeno. Man, this burger was perfection! So tasty and juicy! Finished with the lemon cheesecake which we split. $47 for lunch is pretty pricey in my book. We will go back but this will be more of a treat place as we can not afford to eat here weekly. $15 just for my burger alone. If prices were to lower to a more reasonable cost around $8 for a burger and the beverages were $2.25 each I would give it 5 stars and be a regular there weekly.

My boyfriend and I have been several times and are always impressed! The service is great and the food is amazing. I love the turkey burger, and the falafel wrap is excellent as well. Worth checking out! Ps the desserts are delicious! I recommend the cheesecake

So delicious!! The wedge salad, YUM! The mac n cheese, so good. They need to get coffee for a perfect score :-) You can tell they use top notch ingredients. We will be back!

Fresh, great tasting food. I really enjoy Greek Salad with a lamb. The owner is always on site making sure quality is always superb.

Its a small place on a strip mall. It has beer and wine, but its not a place to sit and have a glass of wine and chilax with food. Not that kind of palce. It's pretty similar to a lot of the new gourmet burger places. BUT it has great Bowls that are a huge salad with the burger on top. They got Turkey, Buffalo as well as beef and chicken. A little spendy but what isn't these days?

  • Mia G.

Maybe an off night?? The burger was dry, the Mac & cheese oily and not creamy. Biggest cooking foul- unclean chile! Full of seeds and skin- so awful. It's NM, get that right! But the truly shocking part, we were told we couldn't order chicken tenders off the children's menu for someone over age 8. We offered to pay adult prices but we were told people get fired for doing that. Skip this awkward, mediocre, overpriced place and go to the Range down the street, with the best homegrown food and customer service in ABQ.

Excellent food! I had a hamburger with some great toppings! I must say it was GREAT! This place has a lot of potential... Waitress and cooking staff seemed annoyed we were there (but maybe it was because it was New Years). I

Really good burgers and sandwiches. You can customize your burgers in many ways. Salads fresh and generous in portion. Great onion rings (tempura style) and home made chips. Friendly service. Dependable and fairly priced.

Wife and I went for lunch on recommendation of friends. Surprised by the very neat and clean surroundings. Bistro type menu with a twist. Wife had the Angus Burger and I had the Onion soup with Romaine wedge, followed by chocolate ice cream and lemon cheese cake. All the food was excellent and the service was attentive. We can whole heartedly recommend for a whole some casual dining experience.

The wife and I both had burgers, and they were great. Kids meal was a little expensive. Very good food. Service was good. One thing we thought was strange, no kids cups with lids or straw. Our little Cowboy received a large to go cup, did not work out to well. The chips and fries are awesome.

I went here today for lunch with my mom. The food was great. All off the burgers are "build your own" style so I chose Angus beef, mushrooms, bacon and blue cheese. My mom had Angus beef, green chili and Monterrey jack. The burgers were a little pricey and the waitress was a little slow for bringing water but other than that it was great. The onion rings were freshly made onsite and the chefs were very efficient. I would have given 5 stars but we paid 26 dollars for 2 burgers and 1 side and I am a penny pincher :)

Went to dinner here for the first time based on many recommendations from friends. What they failed to tell us was to expect a 50 minute wait for our food. I had the turkey burger which was just ok, turkey patty was cooked dry----hubby had a burger. Ordered kettle chips to share with our burgers but we got the chips 30 mins before the burgers.... Only one friendly waitress In the place the others did not look/act happy to be there. Will not go back anytime soon.

Let me tell you, we were regulars here. Going sometimes multiple times a week for lunch for their fabulous cooked to order burgers... And then we tried their "MORE" than burgers menu. :( Not just merely disappointed, but sad and disheartened. Not only were the Madam Croque and the Gyro both cold, they lacked flavor and were not as described to us. When I finally got the waitress' attention (while being the ONLY guests there) I told her that the lamb on the gyro was definitely not cooked on the grill. It was cold to the touch and looked like it might have been lunchmeat in another life. Not only did she not apologize or ask if we wanted something else, she just went straight to her "manager" (who just gave us dirty looks and didn't even bother to come over about the food). He told her, apparently, that the meat was cold because everything else in the gyro was cold. So contact with the cold lettuce and tzatziki that caused the meat to become cold and limp? No, she didn't ask us if she could get us something else, in fact it took about five minutes of me insisting that he get something else in order for it to happen. Just ridiculous! I work in a restaurant, and I'll tell you, you will NEVER catch me or any other server just standing around, nor if there's a complaint do I ever just stand by and let my servers tell them that they can't help them. I hate to complain and give so terrible a review, but chances of me going back to my favorite burger joint after that are slim to none. I'm even more ashamed for them that there was excuses, no reason for the manager to not come speak to us directly after we had made a complaint and certainly no reason to give me and my boyfriend dirty looks for keeping their standards up to par. I will NOT be returning, unless, the management and servers undergo new training. The burgers are not good enough to keep me going back to be treated like scum.

Really delicious burgers! My husband had the premium Angus beef burger with fries, and I had the Colorado lamb burger with sweet potato fries! So delicious and HUGE! Great friendly service, and they serve beer and wine. The only reason why I am giving it 4 stars is because it's a little pricey for my taste. Every little thing costs extra. Cheese or any other topping is extra $, and the fries are extra $! How can a restaurant burger not automatically come with fries, and have to charge for it instead? Other than the price, it's a nice little burger joint.

This is one of the best burgers I have had in a very long time! Huge, flavorful, cooked perfectly to order...their buttery buns are super yummy! Homemade mayo! I had the Angus burger, but they have other burger choices of lamb, buffalo, turkey and veggie. I topped mine with Dill Havarti and green chiles. Sooo good. I will be back!

The food is good, we love the burgers and croque madam sandwich. Our waitress was very friendly but the owner seemed grumpy. We had a kid with us and they refused to serve him off the kids menu because he was a few years over the cutoff. We even offered to pay more for the meal to compensate but there were no exceptions apparently. Makes us not want to come back again anytime soon as it was a bit off putting.

Went for the first time with my Mother who raves about the place and I was not disappointed. I had the chicken sandwich and the olive relish was amazing. Can't wait to go back and try the turkey burger!

I've been had there a couple of times. I've had the bison burger with mushrooms, the Cuban sandwich, and the Colorado lamb burger. All were excellent and pleasantly large.. I liked the grilled vegetables, regular fries, and sweet potato fries, too. The lamb burger was a standout among all the burgers I have had anywhere.. Now I need to try the lamb burger at 5 Star Burgers to compare. Like 5 Star, this place is head and shoulders above "a burger joint" like Five Guys.

for a place called Flamez, I was hoping for a flame grilled burger. not something cooked on a flat top. not a bad burger, but definitely not what I was expecting.

I was on a Burger Binge and had the opportunity to check out the NE Heights Burger destination "Flamez". Were always happy to check out new locations and support local, so glad we stopped in as the staff was friendly and told us about the menu and everything they had to offer. We decided to start off with the Big Gigantic Onion Rings, boy where they mighty good, a little greasy for my belly now a days but back in the day this belly could take on anything! We ordered the Angus Beef Burger & Venison Burger both were cooked to perfection as well as Flamez prides themselves on custom-blended fresh hand formed burger patties and they were beautifully & deliciously made. Plenty of burger sides to choose from, probably to many for me, but for the masses this is too cool! We were able to meet & talk with the owner gentlemen "Salim" who is a passionate & strong minded individual who knows his business and how he wants to run it! I have respect for any owner who stands by what he believes in and is owner-operator. Another fine Burger joint to patronize :)

Pros: It's local. Cons: Just average food. After perusing their menu online and trying this place, was surprised to find that it was small inside (about the size of a Subway restaurant). with less than a handful of customers during a weekend lunch hour. We got our food almost an hour after we ordered. No big deal, I am willing to wait for good food. But the food was just... Eh... It was ok, nothing great. I had the green chile mac n cheese. I had a hard time finding the green chile. I mean, the flavors were there of onion and bacon, but the green chile wasn't "there". Not in flavor and not in sight. If you are going to name your dish "green chile".... anything, then green chile should be the star, not green onions. A bit disappointed in that, and overall it was just average food and WAY over priced.

I have been continually looking for fried pickles on this side of town. I was SO excited to discover that these guys not only had fried pickles but also asparagus fries with Gorgonzola aioli! Sounds amazing! Unfortunately, when I called to order for pick up, I was told "Sorry, I'm not allowed to do appetizers for to go orders." This was after I had to call three times because no one would pick up the phone at 2pm on a Sat. I'm vegetarian and don't drink and so have no interest in being forced to sit in your restaurant just to try your appetizers. What kind of obsessive control freaks tell customers who are happy to pay and would easily become regulars that they can't buy their food unless they want to sit in a specific geographic location while they chew it??? Thanks to this short sighted policy, I will NEVER be visiting your establishment and will not have the ability to recommend it to others.

  • Matt B.

Eh. That's about all I can say. The menu is nice and diverse and I love some of the choices, sadly, the 4 times I've been the burger is over-seasoned and the rest is just.....eh. Price is more than some places but the quality backs it up. Just for some reason it's just...eh.

Ordered two green chili cheeseburgers medium well, potato skins, and a side salad. All the food was pretty good except for the fact that my husband's burger was well done and mine was definitely medium and more red than I would've preferred. The side salad was pre-dressed and just drenched and balsamic vinaigrette. Next time I will ask for the vinaigrette on the side.

Went during Burger Binge Week and was happy to try out their $5 burger. It was a sirloin burger that was excellently seasoned and formed nicely. I added cheese and green chile and avocado. The amount of toppings was well proportioned. I appreciated the size of the burger and the way the bun worked with the burger. I often find buns can either make or break it. The bun is either soggy right off the bat, falls apart, or is too small or big. These buns were just right! I really liked their fries and the onion rings were great. Not too greasy and served with a green chile ranch sauce. The place was pretty empty when we got there but quickly filled up on a wednesday evening. The kitchen is open to the seating so you can really spy on the guys cooking. Staff was helpful and attentive. There were nice beers on tap too. I am looking forward to returning to try out some Middle Eastern type faire. There's gotta be a connection here I'm missing, and I'm gonna figure it out. For those who aren't looking for a burger, there are other items on the menu to definitely try out.

I have been here twice after reading their review in the Journal. The first time I went, the service was horrible and the place smelled like old grease and was kind of smoky on the inside. I had the turkey burger and it was okay, it didn't knock my socks off. I would have only given them 2 stars at the time. The second time I visited this place I ordered the Moroccan Burger Bowl, it was fantastic. The only complaint I had was again the slow service by the wait staff.

The fried asparagus are superb--delicious! The grain-fed burger is the best in Albuquerque, rivaled only by those at the Buckhorn and the Santa Fe Bite.

Downtown, EDo and Nob Hill all have their very own super cool burger joint, and so does the Northeast Heights. Flamez is unique, and they offer creative, fun burgers and more. I'd truly love to eat anything on their menu, including their non-burger items. They have the local, sustainable burger options. You build your own burger. All excellent flavors, toppings and sides. But what really gets my attention are their burger bowls and burger salad dishes. I'm sure this isn't a new idea, but it's the first time I've seen it executed by a restaurant. With their burger bowls, they take a favorite dish and serve it with a worthy hamburger patty on top. They have the Russian (Stroganoff) with egg noodles and mushrooms in a traditional Stroganoff sauce and a burger patty on top. Or a personal favorite, more because it's healthier, is the Moroccan with steamed couscous and vegetable Tajine. Again, the patty is placed on top. They have the Comfort, which is green chile macaroni and cheese, bacon and the requisite burger patty. These are dishes you can dive into and get lost forever. I bet the Flamez staff would be happy to even hold that requisite hamburger patty. Each is a complete meal without it. If you're feeling like ingesting a surprisingly healthy salad instead, try one of their burger and salad dishes. You start out with the basic salad, which is topped with a hamburger patty. They have a Greek, chopped salad, Asian and more. Their Lebanese (Fattoush) burger salad comes with beef Shawerma. The Greek comes with a lamb burger. If you think these all sound good, they truly are. Flamez has the tried and true flavors down pat. Flamez knows there are times not everyone in the group wants or needs a burger, so they offer an extensive non-burger menu with fish and chips, mussels, Alaskan Wild Cod, an eggplant dish and a wide variety of sandwiches such as bratwurst, Croque Madame and a chicken club. I could go on and on about all of their wonderful dishes and sides, but let's just get on with it and head over there to eat already!

The food was pretty good. I was hoping for $10the burgers would have come with a side. The biggest downfall was when they brought out a regular bun for my wife when we ordered gluten free. They just gave her a gluten free bun on the side for her to switch herself. The bun pulled all the cheese off and had crumbs all over the burger. They still charged us for the gluten free bun, too. In short: the food is decent (but might expect as good or better for the price). Not the most gluten knowledgeable place.

Gave this place 2 chances. The first time I ordered to go they said it would be 15 minutes. It was over 30 minutes. Annoying as I really wanted to run in and run out. They were soooo busy that they should have adjusted the pickup time. The food was nothing special. I decided to try this place again and we again ordered it to go. One burger was ordered medium rare but when we got it home it was visibly raw. We had to continue cooking it on our own stove. Again the food was unremarkable. We have no reason to return.

Great menu selection. Burger was ordered medium rare, but was served too rare. Fish tacos were relish. Fried pickles with spicy mayo were perfect.

Inasmuch as I enjoy a good burger, I'm surprised it took me as long as it did to find this place. I had just come back from the Caribbean, and I was seeking something distinctly American. Flamez looked promising, and away we went. Location's a bit strange. Strip mall, next to a doggie bakery. Still though, enough parking and a friendly, open interior. Simple menu, and very high quality food. You can get your burger bunless here, which I love. They also have an interesting green chile mac & cheese which I highly recommend. The lamb burger was delicious. Service was fine by me, place wasn't too busy when we arrived. Also, beer! Who doesn't love a little beer with a burger?!

  • Karen M.

When we first looked over the menu I was a little reluctant. I thought oh no another gourmet style burger joint. But this place put a nice twist on their burger dishes. At first sight you may think they're a little over priced; however, I split a burger bowl with my 12 year old. It is enough food for two. We went for an American classic - burger nestled on top of home made mac and cheese. It was delicious. HB went for a New Mexican classic - the Enchilada burger bowl. Service was excellent. We will definitely be heading back to try something else.

Burger bowlz is a great idea! My friend and I shared the Italian bowl and sweet potato fries after much debate. Would definitely come back to try other bowlz... if only I could stop myself from ordering the yummy Italian bowl again.

On my second trip to Flamez, I brought my wife, who was initially hesitant to go to another burger joint. We looked through the menu, and we're surprised at the unique and tasty sounding Burger Bowlz. We ordered the asparagus fries for an appetizer. I went for the Comfort Burger Bowl (green chili mac and cheese with the burger steak over the top), and my wife opted for the Mexican Burger Bowl (red and green chile cheese enchiladas with an egg, Pico de Gallo and the burger steak over the top). Boy were they tasty! The meat was perfectly cooked, and the unique spin on burgers being served in bowls with other meals is brilliant. We will definitely be back. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves burgers and that wants to try something new and tasty. 5 stars.

Hidden in a funky strip mall next to a bakery for dogs . . . Flamez is appropriately funky . . . an upscale burger joint with an amazingly vast number of burger options, most of which don't involve buns. On my first visit, I couldn't resist the Comfort Bowl - a pumped up version of Mac & Cheese with green chile, bacon, scallions and a burger. My friend's Moroccan Bowl was great, too. Tonight, I enjoyed my Greek Salad - a huge bed of lettuce with tons of Kalamata olives, plenty of feta and a lamb burger. It was good, but I will try other things or go back to the Comfort Bowl on future visits. My husband's Mexican Bowl was tasty. Don't miss the great "appetizerz." I tried the asparagus fries on my first visit. They were fabulous! Tonight, we had the kettle chips - light and crunchy chips with Swiss and Bleu Cheese - yummy!

Delicious, clean, inviting, and a must visit. Had the Mahi Mahi in a spicy coconut curry and it was amazing. Huge piece of fish and the curry was well balanced and excellent. Probably one of the best fish dishes I have had, ever. If I had a spare piece of bread I would have eaten every drop of the curry on the plate. The asparagus fries are excellent as well. They are very long and cooked in a nice batter, served with a delicious dipping sauce. The staff are warm and helpful and provided the right amount of attention during the meal. The kitchen is open so you can watch them work. Friends of mine have had their grass fed beef burger and said its excellent and a very good sized portion. If you are looking for a place serving grass fed beef you can add this to your list. I will definitely be back and if you have eaten here yet make sure to add this to the list! They have a little bit of everything on the menu to appeal to a wide audience.

Over priced, very bad service, decent food. Not a single person greeted us when we walked in. I wasn't sure if I should seat myself, order at the counter, wait for a hostess or what. They all seemed to make eye contact with me, but not a single person acknowledged us. Eventually I asked the male waiter if we could take the one open table and he said yes. When we hadn't been acknowledged again for another 5 minutes I got up to grab some menus. That was when we were finally told that our waiter would be with us in a minute. We spent the next 10 minutes debating whether or not to leave. I know it was a little busy, but it only takes a second to acknowledge a customer and say "I'll be right with you." Finally the female waitress came over to take our order (which we received about 40 minutes later, so not so bad). To start off with we paid $4 for fried pickles. Fried pickles should be slices, not spears. These were basically just warm pickles with greasy tempura batter. Don't bother! I asked to have ranch as a substitute for the spicy mayo, but our waitress forgot and brought the mayo anyway, then charged us extra for the ranch that she brought out later. Hubby got at buffalo burger, I got a turkey burger. They were $13 and $9, respectively, withOUT any sides. I paid an extra $3 for mashed potatoes that were cold on the edges and lukewarm in the middle. The burgers themselves were well cooked, but otherwise unremarkable. I have to say the buns were great! They were out of chips so the hubby didn't order a side. I think this place is a decent burger joint, but it's trying too hard to be more and kind of failing. It shouldn't cost over $30 for two average burgers and one appetizer. The owner (at least that's who I'm assuming he was) was very, VERY strange. For the first 10-15 minutes we were there he didn't help any customers, or the two waiters, or the two cooks. He just stood around looking awkward. He eventually started doing stuff, but it looks pretty bad to just stand around while the place is busy.

I came to Flamez Burgers at the recommendation of a friend. What an amazing place. Not only did I get impeccable service but the Burger Bowl was delicious. I had the All-American, which had an amazing hamburger patty over a creamy bowl of mashed potatoes, grilled onions mushrooms. So delicious. My friend had a hamburger served over green chile mac and cheese. Mmm. I can't wait to get to Flamez again. The Burger Bowl is the best.

I like all kinds of burgers excuse me-- burgerz. Flamez may have hit the mark with most patrons, but to me they fell short. I will say that I WILL try this place again every place deserves a second chance. So let's get this review going. A table of 4. Two adultz and two kidz. We got greeted from across the room saying to sit where ever. We sat down and a friendly waitress handed us these large...no huge menus. The waitress never asked if we have been here before or made any suggestions. I asked what kind of fish they use with the fish and chips? And she didn't know so I just went with a Rueben. My kidz went with a cheeseburger and chicken strips. My wife went with a skirt steak filled torta. I know only my son had a burger but I wanted to see how their "and more" was. I did taste all the dishes we ordered and not wowed. Cheeseburger- good bread but patty was over cooked never asked how we wanted the burger cooked Chicken strips- looks and tastes like frozen strips Rueben- greasy and the pork not seasoned and ham seemed like hill shire farms. Plus the plating was plain. No wow factor. Torta- skirt steak was dry and under seasoned. NOTE: when people order sauce on the side when it is normally in the sandwich the meat cannot hide in the sauce. I did not complain because it wasn't horrible or inedible and if that is what they serve then that's what they serve. Also I do have to say if you give a pint glass to pour a beer into, then the glass should be chilled. Like I said I will try this place again but not to soon. Clean - 4 Food - 2 Staff - 2 (was nice just didn't show excitement about the food) Give this place a shot because from some of the reviews you may have a better experience.

This place was very good. I love the menu with choices from all over the world. I ordered the torta with Carne asada and the kettle chips and I was not disappointed. My husband ordered the Angus burger with a fried egg and it was good, but he actually preferred the torta when he tried it. Everything was cooked exactly to our liking. Next time I think I would order the torta again, but maybe see if they could put it on a burger bun instead of the herb bread. The burger bun was really quite special. My kids had the kids chicken strips, which are done in like a fish-fry batter. Everything was good. I look forward to trying many more items on the menu. A clean, open kitchen and nice atmosphere to boot. Very friendly service. We will be back.

I was a bit hesitant to try this place due to some reviews. I have been pleasantly surprised. The menu selection is unique and appetizing. It seems they have something to satisfy every palette. The meat is also high quality with great flavor. My husband went with the comfort burger bowl, and I chose the Mexican burger bowl. Both choices definitely satisfied. The only negatives are the fact the dining area and plates are high end but they use paper napkins and cheap silverware, so the feel is inconsistent. The waitress was also unable to make a confident recommendation when first asked. Overall it's been a great dining experience.

Nice quiet place. I enjoyed the black Angus burger, and the mac n cheese. I would fatten the patties a bit more but overall its GOOD.

DON'T BRING YOUR KIDS. We wanted to try a new place, and thought this would be good. It was my wife and I along with our 9 yo daughter. After ordering, the waitress stated that the owner would not allow any one over 8 be served off the kids menu. I stated she was just a few months past the cut off, but after checking she said they could not. In my opinion this is business suicide. 8 is quite young for a cut off on the kid's menu. We will definitely not return or recommend to others. We walked out and went to Five Star and had excellent service and food. Plus we were even able to make a change to an item. I read other reviews, and it seems that the owner has a record of poor service. It's a shame he lost a $50 ticket because he is too cheap to allow a 9 yo kid to order a kids meal.

This place is a true hidden gem! Tucked away in a little strip mall, Flamez has an amazingly inventive and interesting variety of appetizers and entree options on their menu. "Burger" is the key here--they are great, of course. But the burger theme continues throughout a lot of the menu--burger bowls and salads. Great combinations topped with a carefully chosen burger patty on top--seriously, you have to try them! The non-burger options are fantastic too! Every time I've been their I've tried something new and was pleased every time! Standout favs: the Cuban sandwich, Greek burger salad, New Mexican burger bowl, the Torta sandwich (delish), the house made kettle chips, and the fried asparagus appetizer. I've got so many more things to try here, because they look amazing as the waitstaff passes by to the next table--fish and chips, fish tacos....I could go on and on. Beer and wine available.

We tried Flamez for the first time, as it was around the area and wanted something casual. The food was tasty, the restaurant clean and well air-conditioned, but the staff could be a bit friendlier. I had the chicken club sandwich with kettle chips. The sandwich was well seasoned, fresh, and although very messy, it was worth it. The chips were just ok, kind of hard to eat because they were huge and a little bland. My boyfriend had the Cuban sandwich, he said it was one of the better Cubans he's ever had, and that it was pleasantly filling. He also had the green chile Mac and cheese, which was very delicious! Our only complaint was about the staff, as our waiter only talked to us three times: when we walked in the door, when he took our order, and when we left. He never asked how we were doing, and just handed us the check without a word. Overall, the food was delicious and for a great price. The atmosphere was pretty chill, but the staff could just be a bit friendlier.

I finally found a really great turkey burger in ABQ. The sweet potato fries were also amazing. Nice, small place with great service. Extremely varied menu with reasonable prices.

Well, this is my second review and I have to lower the stars. The food is fine, but the service tonight was really bad. Actually, that's not exactly correct. The servers were very nice, but the food took 35 minutes to appear. The table behind us asked to talk to the manager, who happened to be the owner. They asked why the food was so slow. He blamed his servers for putting too any tickets in at one time and flooding the kitchen. Uh, what? People came in, sat down, the waitresses took the orders, and it's their fault the food is slow? Anyway, the lady at the table asked if he planned to do anything to apologize for the service. She suggested an appetizer. The owner said no, he wasn't going to offer anything and if they were unhappy, they could leave. Needless to say, they did. Frankly, he handled it about as badly as he could. They were mad, I was surprised! and the food was still slow. So he made no one happy and showed no character. When the food came, it was fine. It's a good burger, but let's be honest: It's just a burger. The bowls are good, and the Mac and cheese is really good. But again, I can get all of these items elsewhere and I am not sure I want to support a local businessman who tries to blame his staff for issues and who refuses to work with his customers.

We tried the Angus burger & the gyro both were great. I'm sure we'll drop in again, it's quite tasty and the service was spot on.

Went here for lunch. Service was not great, but wasn't horrible. Make sure you are not pressed for time if you there. My burger was under cooked and since I had to get my order to go, there was nothing I could do. On a positive note, the sweet potato fries are good.

Horrible service! Greasy food! Owner was very rude and did not care to hear constructive criticism about the food! Will never return! Many other restaurant choices to go to in town for great food and service! Never waste your time here!

This place has great food! I like my burgers well done and it was cooked perfect (not burnt or charred)! If you like Mac and cheese, you need to try the green chile Mac and cheese, it's so good!! We only get take out from here, but the place always seems to have people eating there. Burgers are huge so I recommend sharing! I usually order a kids meal, which I can't even finish! Sweet potato fries are one of the best that I've tried! I want to go back and dine in and try something different from what I normally get!

Some of the best food in the north east heights of Albuquerque. The staff is friendly, and the price is right. Perfect family restaurant. Great for dates. The owner is a super nice guy. I recommend the green chili Mac and cheese. Also the Cuban sandwich is amazing. The burgers are great as well. The salads are unique and delicious. Never had a bad experience.

The burgers, topping choices, sides, salads, and service are great. The prices and nick picky management decisions need a little help. They charge 0.50 for every little extra bit of sauce and dressing. Lamb, beef, Kobe beef, turkey, pulled pork burgers and sandwiches are excellent and good-sized. The sweet potato fries are better than Johnny Rockets, but that's not saying much. The mac and cheese burger bowl is awesome cheesiness but add some extra bacon. Hard to go wrong when you can build your own burger. Except when I was done building, I ended up with a $21 burger (sigh).

I really like Flamez. They have great menu items & I have never been disappointed here. I love the falafel wrap, however I preferred it when it was the vegetarian burger.

Went for a burger-way undercooked to my request and the bun fell apart at first bite, maybe bc of the bloody juices soaking through when I ordered it medium. You would think they would know how to cook a burger properly. No flavor either and I even paid more for the grass fed beef. Staff not great, cook looked like he was just angry and would stare at us when we were eating. Fries seemed like previously frozen but ok. I will stick to my favorite B2B or Holy Cow for the best burgers in ABQ.

Best burger I've had in NM - or anywhere for that matter! I can't emphasize enough how amazing these burgers are. You can customize everything - the bun, type of meat, and toppings. Always cooked perfectly, always incredible flavors. Gluten free buns available. Go here. Go here every day. You won't regret it.

I love their Burger Bowls! This place is one, if not, the best restaurants in Albuquerque. They have a huge verity of food to choose from including their large verity of burgers. This is a great place to come for a first date!

Flamez gets the rare "5 stars".... ok, maybe not all that unusual but the Comfort Burger Bowl was........well I told the Chef that there should be a law against such decadence. If you are dieting, by all means stay away from this one. OMG! I went there with my son as my wife was recovering from a cold and she asked me to bring her a to-go Comfort Bowl, which I did. In the meantime my second trip to Flamez, having had a Grass Fed Beef Burger with American cheese the first time, I ordered the Comfort Bowl. I am not a 98 lb weekling, let's just get that clear. I couldn't finish the mac-n-cheese resting under the perfectly cooked, medium 6 oz. hamburger resting atop the cheese and noodles. Maybe it was the order of sweet potatoe fries that tipped the scale (no pun intended) causing me to get a doggie box to take the remainder mac-n-cheese home for later. I asked for extra lemons with my iced tea and received them along with multiple re-fills (maybe I OD'd on iced tea?) My son thought that his grass fed burger was a little dry, though cooked medium, but when you order grass fed I think that means less fat, more healthy. So it was my second trip but not my last. There are a few more things I need to try including the onion rings, wedge salad, and perhaps the fish tacos. I withheld my judgtement until now. A little pricier burger, but worth it once in a while. Indulge!

First time and definitely won't be the last. The menu is unique. This is not just a burger joint. Great staff and atmosphere. Make sure you try this place before you hit another chain. You will want to come back and tell your friends.

I have gone back and forth about if I wanted to leave a review for this place. You see, i always try to find the positive and consider maybe someone is having an off day. But this was so remarkably underwhelming, it needs to be said. But first, let me touch on the positives, our waitress was lovely and nice. The waiter at the table next to ours seemed to be the same. And the potato skins with pulled pork, those were super. Crispy potatoes, sweet pulled pork, not a complaint to be had. The hubs and I both ordered grass fed burgers. And that is exactly what you get. There seemed to be not a single hint of seasoning. Nothing more than ground beef piled into a patty. Absolutely no flavor besides just beef. And despite having bacon, cheese, and fixings piled on. This burger simply fell flat. No flavor. Like, you may get more flavor at McDonald's and certainly at Freddy's or Blake's. We both forced ourselves to choke down less than half the burger and boxed the rest for our dog. The cost of this flavorless experience: $50 for an app, 2 of what seemed to be the worst burgers of our collective lives, fries, and a beer. So 2 stars for a nice staff and good appetizer. But next time we'll go to B2B or Five Star as we happen to enjoy flavors with our meals.

Really enjoyed my Sunday lunch here. Tucked away location off Montgomery with ample parking. Ordered fried pickles to start. Not tradition chips, but spears cut in half, making a little difficult to eat, flavor was excellent. Ordered grass feed beef burger with green chili Mac and chez. Very flavorful. Service was on the mark. Will be back to try cubano sandwich.

They have a lot of gaul celling this place Flamez when our burgers were clearly fried on a flat grill, they have a gas char grill, but it wasn't even running. We enjoyed this place when it first opened but it has gone down hill fast and the owner/manager with his nasty attitude is a great deal of the problem, he cant keep any help and the cooks are terribly inexperienced the food is never right, forgetting items and overcooked, we'll never go back!!!
