Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I ordered the Salsa & Chips...what I got was soggy chips covered in Pico de Gallo. That's gross. Eating soggy chips is a crime. Also, why Pico De Gallo..that's not salsa! On the plus side the prices are good. But I was majorly disappointed! C'mom Filibertos...WHY soggy chips??

They used to be ok before they got lazy with their food. After I got a bad carne Assad burrito I stopped going for months.. Also heard they got shut down by the health dept.. Gave them one more shot and now it's a bigger rip off than politicians! $5 for a small freaking burrito is a joke!

Advertises green chile posole on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays but never has it because they don't make it. In the past three months or so I've tried four times to get that dish and it's never been available. If they're not going to make it available then they just need to take the sign down. I'm tired of driving all the way up there for nothing.

Gross! Don't eat this! It's a crap chain from AZ. They think burritos should have onions instead of green chili

After living in the 505 for a few yrs, it's difficult to eat here, eventhough I grew up eating here. There's too many awesome Local fast food spots in ABQ, I always leave wishing I had went to little Anita's drive thru. Grease, carne asada burritos, and tortillas are consistent no matter the location of fili b's,. Again, it's a NM thing. I'd rather get fat and happy at twisters or golden pride, than just fat here.

This is the closest thing I'm gonna get to drive thru Mexican here it seems, and I've got no problem with that! They're pretty quick and the food is good for drive thru Mexican food. Everything here is homemade. Make sure you don't go there at 8 am and ask for a bean and cheese burrito cause the beans usually aren't made yet :( I'm OBSESSED with their beans right now (I'd like to blame it on pregnancy, but really, I've been obsessed with the beans before I had a little bean growing inside me.) I think I'm gonna go get me a bean and cheese burrito for dinner!

We ordered the chicken asado burrito & the carne Asada fries. My husband thought the chicken was a little salty but I thought it was flavorful. They do need to cook the fries a little longer so its not a whole soggy, greasy mess. Guacamole is bland. We like Frederico's better.

I used to love this place! I don't know if there was an owner change or what but it went downhill quick. Prices went up and the portions became so small. I've had numerous bad experiences here but I kept going back thinking they were having a bad day. One day my girlfriend was actually told that they were out of tortillas! How does this even happen? I finally quit visiting after they gave me a stone cold under cooked chicken burrito. I am going to give it a month or so and try again because I use to love it so much. Hope they turn it around.

Good Prices, not particularly super clean and food is mediocre at best. But super friendly staff!

Just ate here yesterday for about the 10th time. Reminds me of So Cal Mexican food & love that their taco shells are made not bought.

STAY AWAY- seriously disgusting- I live barely a mile away and when I got home I was disgusted by what I saw. I ordered the #14. 2 Carne Asada burritos plate 1 of my burritos had a rancid looking yellow staining on the tortilla and the tortilla itself was dry and cracking like it had sat out overnight. On top of that it was one cold!!!!!!! Like not even room temperature!!!!!!!!!!! The other burrito was a little better- room temperature at least and the tortilla was flexible and not crumbling like the other. Next the beans and rice- both cold as well....... I think maybe the cook forgot to hit the start button on the microwave or sonething...... Beans were so salty I almost spat them out. Rice was cold and bland- Needless to say I only had 3 bites of my $12 order and my wife had 1 bite of her cold burrito. Tried calling to talk to the manager- guess they were too busy getting other orders out of the refrigerator or something because they didn't pick up. So- try at your own risk! !!!!!!!!!! Best advise other than stay away I can give would be to stick your order in the oven or microwave once you get home so that at least it's to a safe consumption temperature.

I've been here a few times and thought it was mediocre every time. The staff was friendly and fast, and the menu is full of options. I had a vegetarian burrito and wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't impressed either. They need to add more spice to this place.. And I'm not just talking about the food.

I would normally only have nice things to say, but I went by this morning when they were supposed to be open and no one was there..

For a restaurant that was recently closed down by the Department of Health, these guys have a pretty cavalier attitude about throwing away customers due to poor service. My roommate went in and ordered 8 beef tacos, to go, for dinner. When she got them home, though, all eight tacos were chicken. She called Filiberto's and told them what had happened, and that we would be right over to swap them out for the tacos she had ordered. Not two minutes after she hung up, she gets a "return call" from them -- it is some snotty little puke telling her that she'd "better bring back the chicken tacos if you want YOUR order." We got to the restaurant and got a half-assed apology from the little puke, who then proceeded to look at us like he was smelling $h!t while he put her order in to be cooked -- fully ten minutes AFTER he was made aware of the fact that he screwed up. In the meantime, he did nothing to make the situation better, and, of course, the manager was not available, and his phone number is, apparently, a better kept secret than Area 51 -- so we had no recourse -- the little puke believes that he won. And so, I take pen in hand... Let's recap. Filiberto's -- recently closed down by the Department of Health; lousy customer service; cashier speaks and understands English PERFECTLY -- he just doesn't care what you have to say -- all in all, I gave it two stars. Federico's (their competition) may give you the green-apple trots, but, at least they understand customer service.

In Arizona, Filiberto's is king. And for good reason. The food here is amazing, and I've tried probably every menu item they've offered over the last 15 years as they've expanded from a single location to ubiquitous and delicious presence in Phoenix metro. This isn't New Mexican cuisine. They don't offer green chiles, the tortillas are nice and thin, and their dishes are different in general from those you'd expect to find at an NM place. But that is because it is authentic Mexican food, like they serve in Mexico D.F., not the kind you find in Sante Fe. I grew up on this stuff, it's comfort food for me, so it's nice to have a taste of home in ABQ. If I had only one thing to recommend, it would be the carne asada burrito. The meat is perfectly grilled angus steak, served with fresh pico de gallo and guacamole, and wrapped in some of the best tortillas I've had. Simple, but fantastic. The burritos themselves are beasty, but relatively inexpensive, coming out to about 5 bucks for a meal. Like I said though, if you're expecting NM style food, you're not going to find it here. The carnitas, adobada, barbacoa, and carne asada are all prepared quite a bit differently from the way they do it here, so make sure to check out the pictures on the menu. However, they do offer a pretty good assortment of breakfast burritos for those who want to stick with what they know. The menu is extensive, authentic, everything is stellar, and the prices are cheap. What more could you ask for? Oh yeah, green chile... Well, besides that?

No chili at a Mexican food place? Hmmm.... but I tried it. I hate their menu. Their overhead menu has pictures, but it doesn't tell you what's in things. I ordered the Texas burrito based on the picture on the window. I could see chicken and cheese, so that was a pretty safe choice. I like it. I order it regularly. My boyfriend has tried 3 or 4 different plates and can't find anything he likes. He has designated it a breakfast only place. He recommends the steak burrito. I am a churro addict. They have 3 or 4 types, and they are all delicious. No matter what you get, you need to add a churro!

Great Mexican food at a very decent price! Not New Mexican food, but Mexican food. Expect to wait a couple of minutes for the food though, because it's cooked to order. They have friendly service. And they have some of the freshest tortillas in town! My favorites are the fish tacos and the veggie burritos. I don't drink cola, but for those of you that drink that name brand cola stuff, they carry it in glass bottles in the cooler--the real stuff that's made the old fashioned way with sugar, not corn syrup...

Certainly wasn't bad food but felt like it lacked that amazing factor. Probably wouldn't go back just because it seemed kind of blah. Places like Taco Tote are very similar but have better salsa bars.

Used to go to "fili-b's" in Arizona 10+ years ago. The Albuquerque NM restaurant off of Gibson rd was great! Had the double carnitas burrito plate and it didn't disappoint! Service was somewhat lousy, but it's pretty much a higher end fast food joint so go figure...overall great food(tortillas) for a good price.

Over the years I've had several opinions about this place. It is right down the street from our house and I watched as they put the fixtures in when they opened - you might say I've tried them a few times, but left for 3 years so I had to go get a breakfast burrito this morning while in town. I never felt like the BB was lacking - it's usually pretty big and fills up nicely. For the most part they're on par with other local examples, but it's mexican and not NEW mexican so don't expect the usual focus on fresh, amazing green chili like....every other place in town (d'oh!). The specials and lunch/dinner offerings are questionable, I'm not going to lie I've walked out of this store feeling like I got ripped off more than once. It just didn't feel right at the time. After waiting ~5 minutes or so for your food - they cook it to order on a flat-top in view of the counter- it's just anti-climactic to shuffle to a table with a droopy plastic tray and the same kind of mexican food you get at a nicer sit-down place for 3/4 the price. As for the cleanliness, it looks like they've got a handle on the visible surfaces and interior of the building. When they first opened it was staffed by some pretty enthusiastic younger guys who made a little bit of noise at closing time each night, now it's staffed by dour, older folks. Looking for drive-thru real mexican? Worth a stop. Pass if you've got time to visit any of Albuquerque's more unique, authentic places.
