Superb! Very authentic and delicious, lots of creative dishes with a twist as well. I got the Red Curry Noodles with pork and it was fantastic. The curry was done up and spiced perfectly. My girlfriend got the Jade Bok Choi with Tofu, which they also cooked to perfection and made scrumptious as you could imagine- this coming from some one who usually hates Bok Choi. The Atmosphere is very inviting and pleasant, our waiter Jared was a super nice guy, very friendly, helpful, prompt and eager to answer any questions. My whole experience here was just fantastic, I left feeling excited and happy... And full!

One of the "go to" Asian fusion places that I've enjoyed since their original location on Juan Tabo. The coffee chicken is absolutely delicious and even though I tell myself to try other dishes, I end up with coffee chicken. I've been to Chow's sporadically in the last few years, but it will always be my first choice for to go dishes.

My husband and I have eaten here many times and we keep coming back. The food is consistently delicious, and there are lots of options to choose from, not to mention everything is reasonably priced and they give you generous portions. They often have live piano music at dinner, which creates a very nice ambiance. If they are offering any sort of specials that they don't normally have on the menu, it would be a good idea to try them while you can as they are always amazing! The reason I took a star off is that the service can vary. For the most part, the service is good if they are not particularly busy, but if they are crowded, service can either be fine, or you could end up not seeing your server at all from the time you order your food until the check comes (someone else will likely bring your food out), and never getting a refill on water or tea and having to ask (sometimes more than once) to finally get one after you are finished eating. There is also one person in particular that works there who we have encountered a few times that always seems to be in a bad mood. I've witnessed this person yelling at other employees in front of customers which is rather unprofessional, and get uppity with some of the customers as well. The owner, though, is there most of the time and he is really nice and will do what he can to make your experience enjoyable. If you haven't been, it's definitely worth a visit, but try to hit them when they're not crowded, or opt for take out.

Where to begin? First off, I feel bad because obviously, the server was new...like really, really new and super young. If it wasn't for the horrible service the whole night, this would've been a solid 4 stars. I was really pleasantly surprised by the food. Yay! A Chinese place that doesn't make every dish taste the same and almost nothing we ordered was deep fried! We had the Bangkok shrimp, which packed a punch, but holy cow, was it good; the Thai basil (which he ordered with beef) was amazing; the coffee chicken...what?! Never heard of it but it was amazing; and lastly the asparagus chicken, which was unremarkable and i wouldn't order again. The shrimp was perfectly cooked--not fried and not rubber! The beef was tender, spicy and had lots of basil flavor. The coffee chicken was really great--it had the sticky sweetness of sweet and sour or sesame chicken without being fried or overly sweet and with the lovely aroma of coffee. The Bangkok shrimp was tender and came in a delicious SPICY sauce over rice with veggies. It was really good but definitely hot hot hot. Drinks were ok. Beer selection was pretty poor sine for some reason they weren't offering anything on tap. Tha saketini was ok...a girly drink so too sweet for me but the wines I sampled were meh. Overalls, pretty darn good. I'll be back.

Delicious! I have ordered several different dishes and appetizers. I have never been disappointed. Food is fresh, hot and seasoned perfectly. Very clean and quiet restaurant. Customer service is superb.

What a great meal! We ordered carry-out but next time I think we will dine in. We tried the coffee chicken, walnut shrimp, Mau Fun noodles w pork, Chow's tuna rolls, spring rolls and chocolate trilogy dessert. I appreciate the fact that they offer brown rice instead of white with your entrees. The famous coffee chicken is moist and delicious but a little too sweet for my taste. Everybody else swooned over it, though. For me, the walnut shrimp was a home run with that lemony cream sauce and steamed broccoli. The noodles were good but it's hard to achieve a good result with wide rice noodles for carry-out. That is something you should order when dining in. They tend to stick together in a big clump unless you eat them right out of the wok! The baby bok choy in the noodles make this dish superb. The tuna rolls were fabulous as were the spring rolls with that ginger sauce. The chocolate trilogy was amazing, too! All-in-all Chow's Asian Bistro is now on our faves list!

Jason Zeng does not settle with your typical Chinese restaurant. Not only is the atmosphere elegantly upscale with a fine collection of antiques, perfect subdued lighting, and a quiet P.A. System with show songs, Sinatra, and a healthy mix of middle jazz, silent TVs behind the handsome bar, but...and here's what we came for...incomparably fine oriental cuisine. Jason is always tweeking the menu with surprises. The tuna rolls are exquisite with fresh Ahi with mango and (is it?) cucumbers rolled in rice paper. "Crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside." Served with a sensuous Sriracha mayo sauce that has you asking for more...which the friendly wait staff are happy to provide at no extra charge. Then there is the walnut shrimp. lightly fried, liberally topped with roasted sugared walnuts and what the menu describes as "a sweet creamy sauce" This almost custardly very lemony sauce is in its own league (and they will bring you more upon request.) If you like beef you will be delighted with Chow's tender applewood tea smoked beef. And the list goes on along with the usual cashew nut shrimp and all that you would expect to find at a Chinese restaurant. The egg drop soup is so delicious that when I arrive the wonderful servers, led by Kristina and Vince, just bring me a bowl without asking...talk about intuitive service. And the hot sake... I could go on. Conveniently located at the northwest corner on the Cottonwood mall is a fine culinary emporium you will want to visit regularly. Personally, I'd love to hear some Chinese music on the P.A. System...

I have eaten at a lot of Chinese restaraunt's and this place blows them all away! I had the General Chows Chicken and it was amazing! My wife had the Coffee Chicken and it was also amazing! Great service and prices! We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!!! Don't let that it's in a mall fool you! It's a nice place for the entire family!

Decent Chinese food. Parking is shared in the mall since this restaurant is part of the Cottonwood Mall so it can be hard to find a close parking spot. The Kung Pao chicken is my choice of entree here.

This is my first yelp. Had to join yelp just so i could yelp about this restaurant. I read EVERY review. Looked at every picture. And ordered. Delivery. The lady that answered the phone was sweet, patient and very helpful. We are in the midst of a long term contract about 450 miles from home. Most dinners are restaurant prepared. I did not know which hotel i was in as there are two of the same chain within 3 miles. I confused the lady on the phone and the delivery driver. Our food was still hot. And yummmmmmy. Calimari. Coffee chicken. And no roof noodles. Wow. Really. Wow. Does not compare to panda express as a previous reviewer paralleled. Much better. NO COMPARISON. I modified every item. No complaints. Very fast delivery. Less than 30 minutes. And very nice driver. If i am ever on death row... Serve me coffee chicken.

I have been to all the Chinese restaruants in the Rio Rancho area. This is by far the best! I absolutely love the sweet and sour lunch special. No other place can compare and now this is the ONLY place I come to when I want Chinese food. The places is very clean and staff are always nice. Food comes out quick and fresh.

Wow who would have thought that i would great authentic Chinese food in new Mexico. It was amazing. Seriously. The coffee chicken is so unique and yummy. The sesame chicken is incredible and tastes like authentic Chinese sweet and sour chicken (if you know authentic Chinese then you know what I mean). Its a bit pricey but not much more than Panda Express. It is seriously amazing. The only thing I would avoid is the crispy duck as it seemed "old" and the chinese pancakes were stale.

I've been here three times now and each time I've been very happy with the food. I've had the Peking duck, the walnut shrimp and another chicken dish. I've tried the Cashew Chicken, Firecracker Chicken and a couple other dishes here. So far everything has been pretty good. I do like Tao Bistro up in Rio Rancho a little better but this place is closer to my office.

Yea this place is really good. It's quiet and dark decor make for a really pleasant dining experience. We get the craving for pot stickers they come with a most delicious and spicy dipping sauce. Tonight we had the nuts and birds with brown rice. My stomach is always smiling after I eat here, hopefully yours will too.

Chow's is a nice place with a quiet & aesthetic atmosphere. The first time I visited, I think the male waiter was "uninterested" & he made it a really "odd" experience: he forgot about our appetizer, our drinks, & us in general. But I thought hey, my coworker warned me about the wait staff here, let me go back & try again. Glad I did; the rice was undercooked, but the meals were spot-on; our server was weeded, but attentive-really sweet. You've got to try the Walnut Shrimp; it really is that darn good! All four of us loved our meals & we'll be back in 2-3 weeks I've no doubt. This establishment has been quiet & it's been loud; there's a piano player in the center-it's a wee bit loud, but tolerable. Try the lettuce wrap appetizer; that was the fav of the table. We got there at six in the evening & we barely waited 5 minutes. Definitely a family friendly place to eat; a huge menu, & hardly any wait time. Check it out sometime if you're on the West Side; I drive 15 miles out of my way to have a yummy meal there! This was the 3rd worse Chinese food experience in ABQ. The iced tea tasted like dirty water. The waitress was more interested in chatting with 2 guys that came in off shift from the mall, that we never received our appetizer. I ordered the Dragon Sesame because of the mixed reviews ( because I like sweet and sour chicken with bell peppers and onions) and it was so garlicky not sweet at all and not very flavorful... It only left me with heartburn (something I rarely get) and a garlic stained tongue (even after chewing gum and brushing my teeth). My Boyfriend got the Coffee Chicken- he said it was "ok- but not Asian ". We said alone in the restaurant listening to 2 waitresses and the bartender talk about how much their jobs sucked. The atmosphere was not relaxing. Most of the tables were dirty. Quit depressing. We are not going to return.

Really like there pot stickers and the sauce that comes with it..Kinda a different throw from the other Chinese places in town but some times different is good, Wish they were still open closer to house but its not that bad of a ride across the river.I would go back.

This is my favorite chinese place in the WORLD! Service can be a little lacking, and they actually turned the lights out on a friend of mine and me (and several other patrons) while we were dining during the lunch hour. Apparently they close for a bit in the early afternoon and they want you to know when they are closed! LOL That particular incidence is the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. Check out their lunch-in-a-rush menu. Very good. Love the chicken with green beans and the sesame chicken!

Chow's may technically be located in the mall, but this is definitely not mall Chinese food. Instead, Chow's is an upscale bistro that serves classic Chinese dishes alongside culinary offerings from other areas of Asia and several tasty fusion options. After a fairly thorough tour of Chow's menu, this restaurant has become one of my favorite westside eateries and one of my favorite places for Chinese in ABQ. While the lunch options are somewhat restricted in number, the several I have tried have all been quite good. Among my favorites are the Orange Peel Chicken and the Pad Thai. The Orange Peel Chicken is among the best I've ever had. Easily top five. It's got deliciously rich, thick sauce with plenty of orange peel and spices in it adorning nice big, white pieces of chicken, lightly breaded and actually crispy. Unlike a lot of orange chicken, this stuff wasn't overly sweet, but had a very nice subtly bitter flavor to counterbalance the sweetness. For me, I find this dish to be a nice litmus test of place's overall quality. The Pad Thai is also an excellent choice, with its well balanced sweet-tangy flavor, and slightly chewy noodles. While it's not quite as good as the Orange Peel Chicken, it is certainly the largest item on the lunch menu and a good deal for those, like me, who are always tempted to order the dinner portions at lunchtime just for the bump in portion size. The dinner options are where this place really shines, and mostly in the Chef Specialties category of the menu. The Dragon Sesame, for example, is straight-up amazing. A little sweet, a little fiery, with notes of sesame and peppers, the sauce is the perfect compliment to the crispy, perfectly fried pieces of meat. And, it works equally well with chicken or beef. And, it would be remiss not to mention Chow's outstanding signature dish, the Coffee Chicken. As the name suggests, this is lightly fried chicken in a surprisingly delicious coffee-based sauce. The bitter coffee flavor balances with the slight sweetness in just the right way. Don't worry though, it doesn't taste like a latte. In fact, my wife hates coffee and very much enjoys this entree. And, of course, let's not forget appetizers. Chow's offers many of the usual suspects and a few surprise guests. Except for the Vietnamese rolls, which are a bit phoned in, all of the starters are good. But, I would especially recommend the Tuna Rolls and the Beef Rolls, which are absolutely stellar and well-priced. The atmosphere is also wonderful: dimly lit, cozy, beautifully appointed, so well done, in fact, that you quickly forget that you're technically in the mall. Service is typically prompt, unobtrusive, competent, and friendly. I have also been impressed that the chef occasionally comes out of the kitchen and ask patrons how the food is. Nice touch. The prices are quite good for the quality and quantity of the food, but of course, dinner prices are a significant step up from those of lunch. We experienced a few letdowns in the dining experience, but these few were handled to our satisfaction each time. If you find yourself at the Cottonwood Mall or anywhere on the upper west side of ABQ, give Chow's a shot.

Probably thee best restaurant in new Mexico. Very accommodating and the sauces are made from scratch. Disregard that it's in the mall building. I'm getting super hungry thinking about it.

Environment: 5 The environment was perfect for an Asian-themed restaurant. Very calm and relaxing on the end of a chaotic mall. The employees were well dressed, and they have a good piano player in there on occasion. Food: 2 The food was extremely iffy. One thing was great, and the next was not so much. I had a cashew chicken the first time, which was amazing, and everything I wanted. The second time, I went for the Dragon sesame shrimp, which was advertised as a spicy meal. It never came close. It was disgustingly, thickly sweet, with zero spice to it. Imagine sweet and sour, minus the sour. Coincidentally, someone at my table ordered the sweet and sour chicken, but it was more like a spicy sesame glaze (basically, he got what I wanted, and vise-versa) pay close attention to the menu! Staff: 1 I couldn't help but feel lied to the second time I went. The first time I was there, we had a party of 18+ and each of us paid separate, no problem whatsoever. While the staff seemed really disconnected the first time, I didn't care, I had many friends and it didn't affect the time I was having. The second time, however, was hideous. The waitress told our party of 7 we could only split the table two ways, to begin, which none of us were prepared for. Everything else was fine until I complained to the waitress that the food didn't at all end up how we expected. That's when things turned sour, she barely so much as looked at me every time she came to the table, so I got the attention of the manager, who didn't help much more, and was even more unfamiliar with the menu. Also, be weary, for our party of 7, the automatically charged an 18 percent tip, ringing that waitress up for a good 30+ dollar tip for service that wasn't exactly above a 10 percent tip. Be careful here, I more than likely will never go again.

Different stokes for different folks , right ? I got take out from here a few months ago. Probably ordered the wrong thing, either that, or folks here in ABq like their food DRIPPING with sauce and oil. Now, I've eaten bad chinese food before, this ranks right up there with some of the worst I've had. I'm glad some people liked it, I will NEVER go back.

I love Chow's - it's my favorite Chinese food in Albuquerque, even if it is in a mall! After living on the east coast and working next to a Chinatown, my standards for Chinese food are a bit disciminating. That's why I was so pleased to find Chow's. Yes, it's not your completely traditional Chinese food, but it's a significant step up from most average take out places. Some of our favorites for appetizers are the tuna rolls and the pot stickers. For entrees my boyfriend and I rotate through the Dragon Sesame Chicken, Coffee Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Marco Polo Beef, and the Peking Duck. Mmmm. The No-Roof Noodles and Low Mein are also worth trying. The Xango! Dessert is also worth a try if you have the ability to eat after the generous portions served. Anytime I'm on the Westside or need to stop by Cottonwood Mall, I'll be in Chow's for a meal for sure.

I must have walked past this place a hundred times on the way out of Cottonwood mall, and always associated mall restaurants with "food court" food. This is absolutely not the case with Chows! Chows makes everything you thought you liked in Chinese food, except they make it fresher, larger, and better. The shrimp are larger...full sized, not quarter sized midget shrimp. The cubes of chicken are an honest bite, not some quarter-inch cube thrown in the wok. The peas had a snap to them, not steamed to death. Everything tasted like it was just made, not thrown in a pan and ready a half hour before you got there. Entrees are served 'family style' so you get a big plate of stuff and get to spoon it onto your plate as much or little as you like. One entree is big enough to feed 2 people. 2 entrees gives you a chance to try different things, plus 2 people will be completely stuffed and still have enough to take home with you. The desserts are big enough for 2 people to share as well. We got the green tea ice cream and the Xango! and ended up leaving some of both melting on the plate, unable to take another bite. Service was quick and friendly, drinks were refilled promptly, and the floor manager made an appearance to check on us as well, which is one little thing I always like to see. The night we went it was very quiet in the restaurant, even the diners were quiet. Speaking at conversational tones sounded like someone speaking aloud in a library. Neither good nor bad, just...odd, and I thought I'd mention it. Adjusting the spiciness of your meals is a testament to the fact they're making it fresh, and it is not a problem to make your Kung Pow with more Pow, or make your curry more or less spicy. A big appetizer, one beer and one lemonade, 2 entrees, 2 coffees and 2 desserts came out to just over $50. I felt like I got every bit of my money's worth, especially since I can probably make 2 more decent meals from the leftovers. Their excellent execution of the meals that we had made us curious about how they'll execute other dishes that looked good but we didn't choose, and that puts Chow's on the "definite" list of places we'll return to.

I noticed this place the first time I visited Cottonwood Mall, but I figured that (since they were in a mall) it must be a cheap, mass produced, all you can eat buffet type place and I opted not to even peek inside. Recently they offered a Groupon, so I figured I would give it a try! WOW! This place is not at all what I imagined. Instead, it is a nice, sit down restaurant with great, tasty selections at a reasonable price. The portions are very generous (enough to share) - so family style dining is certainly possible. It doesn't quite have the ambience of PF Changs -- but the food is great and it is right in my backyard! I'll be going back again and again (and I noticed they also offer take out).

This is hands-down the finest Asian food in the state. We are regulars and vegetarians. They accomodate us with nearly every dish. There was a pianist Sat. playing light classical and jazz. It was a wonderful piano bar. Try the tofu in any dish even if you're carnivorous.

Unfortunately, since it's located in a mall, it carries the stigma of a food court with bad food. The good news, though, is that it really is a very good restaurant! We've dined there three times now using the Groupon we bought each time. The atmosphere and service is great. The food is very good with very large portions. We always leave taking home another meal or two. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.

This chinese restaurant is the best in the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area! I enjoy the dishes I try, such as, the Chow's Chinese Salad, Sesame Dragon Chicken, Kung Pao (chicken or shrimp), Walnut Shrimp, and of course Sweet n Sour choices. The service is generally pretty good, friendly, and pretty quick most of the time. I like the ambience too, nice and serene--not overly garish typical Chinese artwork. It's nice that they have finally included lunch combos and different alcoholic beverage selections, but I've ended up getting a pot of hot tea which is quite deliciious. I'll be back as usual..atleast once a month!

Food here is extremely sweet, definitely catered for Americanized palettes who like their Chinese food full of thick, sweet, sauce. I once ordered the Coffee Chicken because it sounded interesting, couldn't even finish it because of all the goopy sauce.

Located in the Cottonwood Mall this is not your ordinary Chinese Restaurant. Food is excellent with the service hit and miss. The Ranch Spring Rolls with the Wasabi Sesame Sauce as an appetizer was excellent and the Lettuce Wraps were over the top. Entree's included the Coffee Chicken - I know it's off the wall and didn't sound appetizing but try it. This was always on our table every time we ate here. Located in the Cottonwood Mall - This place is not to be missed.

This is probably the best Chinese restaurant for me in Albuquerque. Their staff and friendly and service is quick. Had the pleasure of coming here for valentines day and the atmosphere was great. The portions are great and you will leave feeling full.
