I had wanted to try this place for some time now. I wish I had been to it sooner. The food is amazing to look at as well as eat. There are items I want to go back and try. The Cuban Sandwich is one of the best I've had. Service is a little slow but I'm sure it will get better.

Could be the best thing to come out of the reopening of 4th street downtown. I have been wanting to try this place for some time now. I went with the cubano. I figured if they could not make a good one of these then I would not need to comeback and try anything else. I was not disappointed. The sandwich came in the shape of a panini. The portion was a little bigger then expected. I am glad cause it is a little bit pricey. If you are looking for an authentic Latin restaurant then this is the place. There is not a lot of seating, so it may be a little bit of a wait. It is worth it though.

A bit of a divey restaurant located in Albuquerque downtown but serving excellent food. The food might take some time to come out but only because they maybe a bit understaffed but the food come out piping hot and tastes very very fresh. They serve great cocktails and also a wonderful assortment of lemonades. Their plantain chips are served with a very different garlic dip and an avocado salsita. The Vegetarian Stuffed Peppers are delicious, not cloyingly cheesy and gooey but melting with the rice and well backed. The serving portions are quite substantial and I can assure you you well eat every last crumb!

Caribe catered an event I was at. Food was good, large portions a plus. Unfortunately, however, it arrived late, which is a big problem for me as far as catering goes. I understand based on the other reviews that this may because they're a bit understaffed, so hopefully that's something that they can work on!

Pros: fresh, friendly, clean, the food was made and plated with care Cons: pricy, slow, the place felt dead

Love love LOVE this place! Such a needed edition to the downtown scene! Even though they aren't "officially" open, I've been going weekly! They have an authentic Caribbean menu that is definitely packing a punch for their price. My favorite dish is the Pernil, I recommend that if you're just trying out the place. They also have the best empanadas in burque that come with these sauces that totally shine on their own and are enough to keep me coming- especially since they're only $2 each! Definitely try the cheese one! They also serve REAL fruit juices from mango guava berry and others that they can also turn into shakes (juice con leche) I'm super excited to see this place grow. The owner and staff are the sweetest, and really seem to know what they're doing. Go! NOW!!

It was a sweet and sour experience. The cons: there were two waiters,a friendly male and a not so friendly female. The bathroom was dirty! The waiting time to get our food was crazy! 45 minutes it is way too much. The pro: food is DELICIOUS!!! Almost worth the wait :) we had the masas de puerco and tostones very tasty then we got ropa vieja, pernil and arroz con camarones, wow!!!! So fresh, so tasty, delicious!! I felt it was a bit pricey but I also think it is worth your money, we had one appetizer and 3 entrées totaling $51. Overall I would come back in a heartbeat but I might call ahead of time to order so when I arrive I don't have to wait this long. Message to the owner: congrats on your new restaurant! The food is delicious but please think about your customer service. We need places like yours in Albuquerque, with really amazing Latin food. We want to support you but your customer service and having a clean bathroom are key! We will continue going and we hope to see you thrive! Good luck!

Located just north of the main drag of Central Ave, Cafe Caribe is tucked into the newly renovated 4th Street. Loud outdoor Caribbean music could catch the ear of anyone walking down Central. I ventured into Downtown with no particular place in mind and was pleased to have found Cafe Caribe! I will definitely come back. The fresh lemonade was fantastic and my Ropa Vieja left me feeling extremely content. I have ordered Ropa Vieja at several other Cuban/Caribbean restaurants and my plate at Cafe Caribe met expectations. I wish I could have ordered some Maduros, but I ran out of time. Customer service was great and the Latin music playing in the background made for a nice, relaxing mid-week lunch.

Finally walked by when this delightful neighborhood spot was open. Kind staff. Delicious treats to take you back to the Caribbean for awhile.

We were so excited to try this new restaurant based on the reviews. We ordered juice, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees. It was not busy and there were four people in kitchen. After 45 min they brought out one entree. We asked about our juice and our appetizer, they said we did not order anything else. The waitress twits everything down so I know she placed the order. We told them what we ordered and they brought my juice and one appetizer. ??? They said they wouldn't charge for my juice. We never did get the other app or entree. Our 12 dollar panini was ok but 12 dollars? The service was inexcusable. Our waitress was very nice But very frustrated with manager, manager (owners daughter) was outright rude. We prob will not be going back .

Pros: fresh juices, well cooked tender meat. Fresh and simple. Cons: Bit pricey and somewhat plain. Definitely worth trying, though.

Welcome to the neighborhood! I hope this place stays around for a while; it's such a nice change from the typical downtown food scene of burgers + fried food + pizza. I HIGHLY recommend the pork pernil; super tender, flavorful pork with choice of white or yellow rice + black beans. I don't even like pork, but this is really good. Add to that a side of fried yucca (on the menu it's called "steamed cassava", but it's definitely fried), because yucca fries make every day happier. The chicken soup is good if you're feeling sick + craving that, but otherwise it's not especially special, flavor-wise, though it's made w/fresh ingredients (shredded chicken, sliced carrots, celery- no onions, yay for me!). SKIP the lemonade; it might be made w/fresh fruit + agave syrup but it was way too sweet for me; I had to water it down to finish it. veggie options somewhat limited; check the menu first. OPEN EVERY DAY + late on wkends.
