Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

A bit hidden, but worth the search. This is one of my grandpa's favorite place to eat. The service is great and they always remember what he wants and his coffee stays full. The food is pretty good. Chile is great! Sopapillas are always hot, fresh and that perfect mix of fluffy with a bit of crunch. They serve both breakfast and lunch all day, and always have a daily special. The prices are probably the best in town. I got beef and cheese enchiladas with rice and beans and two Sopapillas for under $6. Have been coming here for years, and will continue to.

I came here for breakfast and got the stuffed sopapilla with bacon and green chile. The chile was flavorful, but had barely any heat. The sopapilla was good, as well as the hashbrowns. The only real issue I had was that the beans were cold. It's located in a kind of bad area, but I would come back again. Very affordable.

Have been coming to this Bea's on and off for over 10 years. Service and Food have always been good. On this visit I had the Carne Adovada plate which was excellent. My wife had the Beef Sopapilla plate which I got to try and it was also excellent. The Sopapilla's served were very good. The Salsa and Chips were OK. The Salsa was good, however the chips were just chips, I've had much better. We will continue to return.

This place is a hidden little gem. I say hidden because it's off Central, on Zuni. I have lived 3 blocks away for 7 years and had never been there. I finally went on the 4th of July because I was without my car, and it was the only thing open within walking distance to get a proper breakfast. The inside is kind of dark. It's not hip, or urban, but I wouldn't go so far as calling it a dive. It's just old fashioned decor, like someplace you'd stop to eat that was close to the interstate while traveling. But, who cares!? Not me! My breakfast was so delicious, I wished I could have eaten more. The bacon pieces were beautiful. Yes, I used the word beautiful to describe strips of fried meat. I had pancakes and eggs. Standard type meal, however, had I gone to IHOP, I would have had to wait 45 minutes just to sit, then another 30 just to order, all for bad service and a crappy over-priced meal. No, thanks! I mention IHOP because who doesn't love pancakes? Well, I hope this place is consistant, because I will go there for the rest of my life just to have their pancakes. They make them just like my dad did. He was the pancake/crepe master of the house growing up. I have no comments about dinner yet.... but, it just occured to me that i'm starving and they still might be open. I hope so!

Had a wonderful breakfast here. It was a Friday during Lent, so options were limited. I saw the bacon and it looked good. I ordered an omelet with green chili. It was a big omelet served with a side of hashbrowns. I ended up scraping the green chili off and putting it on the hashbrowns. Such a good idea! Rather than toast or flour tortillas, I asked for corn tortillas. The waitress looked at me funny, but brought me 3 super dry corn tortillas. I forget that in New Mexico, corn tortillas aren't served as often. Good service, good music. There were regulars in there. I think they had a breakfast bar, but I didn't go investigate.

I've lived here since 2004 and haven't been a big fan of the local New Mexican food until eating at Bea's. I usually prefer regular Mexican over New Mexican food but I was pleasantly surprised by the food at this establishment. Most of the other places I have been to (Sadie's, Los Cuates, El Pinto, etc.) the food seems overly heavy, not very fresh, and overpriced but that is not the case at Bea's. As the other reviewers have said, the prices here are extremely good and the food is fresh and tasty. I LOVE the sopapillas here as well and the carne adovada was excellent. This is a local's place and is very popular with the national lab crowd. I am surprised there aren't more reviews for this place because it was so good. There is a buffet of some sort in the middle of the restaurant although I am not sure what was in it.

This seems to be a pretty popular place in Albuquerque. My Aunt from the North East takes a dozen of their tamale's home every time she visits. I personally think the food is average new Mexican fare and while it isn't bad, it isn't the best. However, I do prefer their Sopa's anytime over those you find at most places, including gardunos.

Inexpensive with great sopapillas

Eh. Food was edible but really nothing worthwhile. Standard New Mexican in a rather dingy dining room.
