Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for Diabetics:
If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. All the beverages except Iced Teas must be avoided as well to control your sugar intake.
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol
If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's

Take a second look at the menu prices before you order. The old menu used to have a soup and salad lunch special for $6.99. The new menu only allows one salad for that price. Everything else is $8.99. At $9.00, there is a lot more value in the main section of the menu. Its too much money for a cup of soup and a salad...................... Just my opinion.

Service was great. Liz was both attentive and personable. Food was very good. I had the bleu cheeseburger and it was cooked perfectly. The fries were a little dense and not hot, as if they had been sitting out awhile so that's why I didn't give this 5 stars. Husband had Fish n Chips and except for Two Fools Tavern, they were pretty good. The Apple Chimi dessert was a perfect tastebud closer. All in all it was very good and we will be back.

This place has gone down hill fast and bad. Sad part is there isnt much to choose from on the Westside and when you have crappy service or much less no service pickings are slim. The only reason I am even giving this location one star is because the hostess..other than that I wil never go here again. The times we have gone we have waitwaited 20 minutes for drinks and left without ordering then the next time we waited 20 minutes and no one even took our drink order or acknowledged us. staff are more worried about who they're taking home then working and attending to their tables.

We were just passing through the area looking for a place to grab lunch, read the poor-ish reviews beforehand but we were craving Applebee's so we went anyway. Positives first: our waitress was very friendly and the food was good. The negatives: THE SERVICE! Good Lord I have never been somewhere that was so disorganized. My friend and I thought maybe we were on some hidden camera show. First, the waitress couldn't remember our 2 item order as she was writing it down. A different waitress brought out our food. My friend was given a side of gravy instead of mayo (cuz it looks the same, right?) I asked her for a side of dressing and she said "I'm busy waiting on another table, so you'll need to ask your regular waitress." WOW! So then a different waitress brought us the sides. A bit later our first waitress came back and said "you were asking for your check, right?" Um no but we'll take it I guess. Then she said "did you want dessert?" we said "no thanks." She came back a few minutes later and said "are you paying with cash or card?" Um, does it matter? We said card. Then she asked us if we wanted dessert, again. My friend asked for a refill on water. A few minutes later she brought a glass of water, TO THE NEXT TABLE, as they were leaving and said "here's your water!" Whaaat? She literally was to our table and back 10 times during the meal. Then she asked if we just had water to drink or water and iced tea. Seriously? The drinks are on the table! Then she brought us the bill and asked us to fill out the survey to rate her performance! I thought "Oh Honey, I think its better that I don't fill it out!" Doubtful I'll be back but at least the food was decent. It was just kind of funny actually. Looks like service is not the forte of this location, yikes, but at least it gave us something to talk about on the way home. I don't think some people would be as understanding as we were so I could see this being really an issue for management in the future.

Goodness Gracious! We decided to have an early dinner ...4ish right after work. We had to wait 15 minutes just to get our drinks, then an additional 5 min just to get chips and salsa. We were starving at this point and asked for more chips. The waitress looked at us very annoyed and sayed...of course. She went to a register and chatted with another employee And finally returned to take our order. We asked for the chips again and she brought them with our dinner. Are you serious!! The food was not good! It really wasn't ! The service was terrible and the food was awful as well. Where is the manager? Doesn't he see all this? Very dissappointed!

My friend from Dallas and I wanted to catch up, grab a few drinks, and keep it casual. As we got there the waitress asked us if we'd like to sit at the bar. We agreed and she walked us around realizing there was nothing open, no big deal. We sat down and waited for about 10 min for someone to come and take our drink order. Our appetizer (boneless wings) came out but we were not given any silverware or plates. After stopping a different server because ours disappeared we also asked for celery. Our waitress brought us the plates, silverware and 3 measly pieces of celery and said our chefs said they're not going to share anymore celery so this is what you get. After getting upset our food arrives. I ordered a Hawaiian burger and noticed what was supposed to have pineapple only had one little chopped piece maybe the size of a quarter. After that we paid the bill and the waitress gave my friend someone else's receipt and charged her the wrong amount. I must say, I've been to this place before and it's really gone down. Not happy!

First off the smell when we sat down smelled like old beer and throwup. I have a sensitive nose so really didnt say anything to my husband. He later confirmed that it smelled bad. Service was bad. Not toddler friendly at all. We ordered an appetizer and did not give us plates for our little one . My husband ordered a swiss cheeseburger, and when it came it has 2 mushrooms, didn't come with any lettuce or tomatoes, and tasted like bun and cheese.. I ordered the chicken wrap which was cold chicken on the inside with a warm tortilla on the outside. The soda were flat. It was over priced for the food we received, we get a better burger at Wendy's. Also cleanliness was at a lack. Picture hanging in our booth was dirty and had splatters on it. The bar chairs looked like they haven't been cleaned in a while. Staff was in a corner talking the whole time. We will not go back. And will tell friends/family not to go here.

I came for dinner with a friend and her kids on a Thursday night. The restaurant was decently busy, but our server was attentive and never let our water glasses run empty. She was good with the kids at our table. The only issues I had were with the food. The spinach-artichoke dip just tasted off; I couldn't quite figure it out, but it tasted weird. The pasta I ordered, while good, definitely gave the impression that it had sat a little too long under a heat lamp. Other than that, no complaints.

We went to this location on our way to River of Lights last night. We were looking for a relatively quick bite to eat before our evening out. Service was friendly but painfully slow and it wasn't very busy. We waited a while for our drinks and I had to ask 2 different employees for a highchair. Our daughter's food was brought promptly but we waited for 20 minutes for our server to come back and take our order. It seemed very disorganized. We ended up spending 2 hours for what should have taken an hour, tops. The food was fine, typical Applebee's. We won't be going back to this location.

On my first visit, I wanted the orange chicken with no mushrooms.....they can't do it because their food is premixed and sent to them. Uh....yuck. Why would I want to pay good money for frozen food that they reheat? And on my final visit (there will be no more) I ordered the riblets. I didn't know there was a smaller riblet "basket" or I would've specified that I wanted the "platter".....the one with the cole slaw. I recieved my order but there was no slaw. I asked our waitress if I could get my slaw and she told me it didn't come with the basket. So......she just decided what I wanted instead of asking. When the manager came by and asked how it was, I told her what had happened. She said she'd "talk" to the waitress. *Oh boy*!!! They didn't even try to make up for their mistake! Just gave me a "sucks to be you" attitude. I won't be back......I'll go to Chili's across the street. At least they make their food fresh.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
