I enjoyed the chili relleno and the salsa... While not the best I've ever had, they were solid. Anything with meat in it, however, was disappointing. Overlooked and bland (beef, chicken). You can kind of ignore it when whatever you're eating is smothered in cheese, sauce, lettuce and tomato, but it's still not up to par with some other places in town. They had recently moved to their new location at 2300 N. White Sands Blvd when I ate here (29 Sep 14). It's clean and comfortable inside. The waitresses and hostess were very polite and accommodating. Would've gotten more stars from me if I was only reviewing the service...

You should eat here just for the queso alone! Friendly service, delicious food, reasonable prices.

The food is amazing. Best Mexican food in Alamogordo. Staff is very friendly. Have never had a bad experience there in the the past six years. Would recommend this to everyone!

Arrived here at the recommendation of several locals who raved about the food. We had a short wait before being seated and I immediately noticed one of my good food local barometers - sheriffs deputies enjoying lunch. I ordered Flautas Chile con Queso and hubby ordered the combination plate. We were not disappointed. The food was well prepared, tasty, and made fresh. It was well seasoned but not overly hot. The owners here understand that good food is well seasoned, and not a "how hot can you make it" contest. These customers are pleased.

I had the bean-stuffed sopapilla. It was very good. My husband had the beef taco. He liked his. The guacamole, salsa, & sour crew dipping sauces were all very good. Don't let the boring outside fool you. The inside decor/ambience of the restaraunt is nice. The waitstaff are very efficient & friendly.

I love the food here. True taste of south central New Mexico. A number of good local options for Mexican food, but CJ's Si Seniors is my families favorite

Always one of my favorite places to eat in Alamo. Their new location is great, and only adds to how much I like the place. I love the white sauce! Though I rarely get anything beyond my cheese enchiladas (green hot), all rice, no beans our whole large family gets different items and loves the place. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. I am not sure why others have rated it low but I have never in 20 years had a bad meal there.

I've been here many times, even in the old location. I have had the stuffed sopapillas, beef, enchiladas, tacos, chimichanga and a few more. Love all of them. The chips and salsa are served with a white which is really good. I usually order more to go with my order. It's moved to a location where nothing has survived previously but has been very busy since their move. I'm sure they'll be just fine as it's much better than it's last building. Not sure why the low ratings, it's always a hit with me.

This place is the shit!! The only Mexican food I really like in town . I recommend a dry or wet green chili's/ steak burrito with beans rice guacamole cream. Num . The horchata is the real deal too :)

I have been going to Si Senors for more than 15 years and always love it. The cheese enchiladas are great. The jalapeño dip is great and I love it. We always have problems finishing our food because we fill up on tasty chips, dip and salsa. The place is old and could use some decor updates but it is great food. I think some critiques don't take into account that New Mexican food is different from Mexican. I love the cheese enchiladas, get them every time I am in town. The owners are so friendly. The staff is always friendly and great.

Very well worn interior. Our waitress was quite nice and attentive. The food was really nothing special. At all. Still, the place was packed, and I don't understand this. With so many other stellar options in and around Alamogordo, I have no compelling reason to return.

I'm not sure what's going on with all of these negative reviews. They may be true. But all I can say of my experience is that this place is wonderful! I am a vegan and so came in with some strange requests but NEEDING some amazing NM green chiles. Wendy accommodated all of my additions and subtractions like it was nothing, and proceeded to give me directions on my way on my road trip, taking some state highways instead of the interstate on a route that was both faster and more scenic. My food was orgasmic, the directions were spot on, and everyone was as friendly as could be. Highly recommended! Also her daughter got married not long ago. Wish her congratulations!

Last night's Taco Bell... just re-heated. Yum! The horcata was too sweet, my fajita tasted like it was last night's re-heated Taco Bell, our sopapilla dessert tasted like bland fried bread. We ended up with plenty of left overs that NO ONE WANTS TO EAT. Everything we ordered LACKED FLAVOR and was DISAPPOINTING!

Meh. Chips & Salsa: decent but confusing. The red sauce was good, but it also comes with a white sauce that I'm told is sour cream and jalapeño. I'll take their word for it as it has no appreciable heat, the dairy of the sour cream totally killed the heat of the pepper. The chips themselves were either stale or not made here, I'm not sure which. Food: I had a shredded beef chimichanga, had to ask if the chimi was available that way as the menu only said beef or chicken. It does come with rice and beans (again, had to ask, the menu did not specify), but not sour cream and guacamole. I suppose I could have put the sour cream mix that came with the chips on it had I been so inclined, I wasn't. One thing that I found perplexing was a square chimichanga. It was 4-5" square, not your typical fried burrito. Flavor was acceptable but unremarkable and not worth a return trip. I might come back to try something else, but I don't know that it's worth it. Music: they were playing Andean pan pipes covering rock classics. I heard Scarborough Faire and I'd Rather Be A Hammer Than A Nail, among others. Very strange. I'd've been a lot happier with classic mariachi music. Cleanliness: not impressed. My table had not been cleaned from the previous diner. It wasn't filthy, but neither was it clean. Will I return? Doubtful. I've never understood or appreciated food coming on those big plastic plates with the steel inserts, it reminds me too much of bad buffet food, and the overall food quality did little to improve this opinion. The location falls into what Anthony Bourdaine calls a cursed location. In the last five years, I haven't seen any restaurant here last more than six months or so. Will Si Señor survive longer? Frankly, I do not care.

I don't know how this place is even still open. The chips and salsa were ok and that ended up being the highlight. I ordered chicken fajitas. They came out on a prison like tray. I don't think I saw a whole bean in my refried bean "soup". The rice was terrible also. Then to top off the experience a fly landed in the fajita I was making and got stuck. I told the waitress and she was going to bring me a new tortilla that never made it to us. The took $2 off our meals and were very rude about it. Will never go there again.

Has to be about the worst Mexican I have ever had. Taco shell was very tough, massa on tamale was bland and gooey, green Chile was tastless, tortilla on enchilada was soft and slimy and cornbread served with pasole was terrible.

We are so glad the woman at the front desk if the Hampton Inn recommended this place. Yummy! Salsa is great and food was amazing. I had a green chip cheese enchilada and tostada. Hubby had green chile chicken enchiladas. No regrets! Service was even better!

About as good as it gets for a full menu Mexican restaraunt in Alamogordo, though that is not saying much. Tacos are good, as are the rice and beans, which can't be said of many places around here. Chips (from Lowe's) and salsa are very good, so that helps, especially since they give you two type of salsa; red and a sour cream based one with a little heat. Someone told me that the price is high for the small portions. True.

Although not the best Mexican food in town, it is dependable and arrives quickly, even at busy times. Think of it as Mexican comfort food. My favorites here are the shredded beef burrito and the pork tamales. The chimichangas are also good; the burritos are stuffed with meat only, while in the chimichangas the meat is mixed with potatoes, tomatoes, and seasonings. For kids who won't eat Mexican, you can get hamburgers, corn dogs, and other American fast foods in kid sizes. For dessert, the sopaipillas are very tasty and always served straight from the fryer, too hot to eat right away. They have a small meeting room in the back that seats 12.

I had the beef taco plate and it was really tasty! The beans and rice had a funky flavor. Burnt? Not quite sure but I'd eat here again. As for all the posts regarding the interior. Firstly, it's Alamogordo. Secondly, most great Mexican joints are a bit ratty on the interior. After seeing a dozen other places in the town it's actually not that bad.

The restaurant itself looks like it was built in 1965 and never updated. All of the tables chairs and fixtures are sticky and look like they were last cleaned during the Reagan administration. My waitress was rude and seemed like she made a point to slam everything down on the table. The food was greasy all of the vegetables tasted like they were from a can. There was also hair in my food! Super gross and not recommended!

The only good part of the meal was the chips and salsa with the sour cream dip. My dinner was very bland. I could've made more flavorful food at home. Hubby did approve of the chili relleno but said everything else wa bland.

The highlight of the meal WAS the chips and salsa. I ordered cheese enchiladas and got a stack of corn tortillas soaking in a thick, bland green sauce with a little bit of cheese sprinkled on top. The beans were good.

High point was chips and salsa. I've had better food, and decor is badly run-down. Waitress friendly. No alcohol.

Was here a few weeks ago. The food here was subpar at best. We hit it up on our way out of Alamogordo for lunch....I had the chicken chimichanga...it was just.......uhm....okay. The rice and beans were decent though. This restaurant was way packed, not sure if because it was lunch time or because people really felt the food was that good? The place was a little rundown and had a slight hint of dirt and mold, don't think I'd come back even if I was in the area. My search for GREAT Mexican food...continues.

WTF is this? Si Senor no es bueno Get me out of here (Yikes! I don't know what to say, except that I'll never be going back to this restaurant. I don't like my green chile sauce 'creamy', and I CERTAINLY don't like it with HAIRS in it... *yuk!*)

Stopped by for lunch yesterday and the place was packed...I usually take that as a good sign of the quality of the food. I ordered a bowl of their tortilla soup and the steak & enchilada lunch special, and a mug of their hot spiced cider. The bowl of soup was delivered to my table about 5 minutes after I ordered it and it was literally still cold...not lukewarm, not room temperature...I mean still cold. So I sent it back. The waitress told me she'd pop it in the microwave for me. 10 minutes later, she brought it back to me with a warning, "Careful you don't burn yourself, it's really hot now!" Um, no it was not. It was now "warm", not hot...and not warm enough to be served as a soup. I ate it in silence, since I didn't want to become "that guy" while still waiting for my actual meal to be served. Took me all of two or three minutes to eat the soup, then my steak & enchilada platter arrived...barely warm. The beans were room temperature, the enchilada was room temperature, and the rice was room temperature...only thing on my platter that even came close to being hot was the steak. The steak was properly cooked. That's the only good thing I can say about the platter. Best part of my entire visit was my hot spiced cider. The salsa and chips were okay, too. I paid $20 for lunch and wasn't happy about it. I won't be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
