I was glad to see this place was open after we left White Sands late on evening. I was kind of disappointed in their limited offerings. I got an overpriced croissant sandwich and soda after learning that they don't make their smoothies fresh. All that equipment and they use prepackaged smoothies? The lady helping us was nice but did not seem entirely comfortable behind the counter. The seating area itself is open and comfortable. Local art adorns the walls which is always nice to see. The place was clean but overall just an OK experience.

For people who love good coffee and a amazing view of the city. This is the place for you. The employees are always so nice and welcoming. My boyfriend and I come here and just sit-- drink coffee and relax. Great chai lattes with a nice blend of spices :)

When I lived here, I would frequent this place quite often. It was definitely a local gem. Whenever we visit, we try to make a stop up here to enjoy a delicious beverage and the beautiful view. It's up in the mountains, so you have a great view of the city. Especially pretty if you go around sunset. They seem pretty innovative with their menu as well, they always have something new offered. Prices are great, and service is super friendly. Definitely a place worth checking out if you find yourself in these parts. :)

If you're looking for a great coffee spot, this is the one. No Starbucks in Alamogordo, but there is Plateau Espresso which I find to be infinitely better. This place is warm and inviting, from a vintage wooden telephone booth to a bookshelf filled with great reads. You can sit inside or on their patio which has a gorgeous view overlooking the city, the mountains, and outdoor plugs if you've brought your computer. Free wifi is a plus! The lunch menu looks appetizing, sadly I can only base my review on the coffee. I went to Plateau 4 days in a row last week, its that good. They really know how to make a great drink without burning the espresso! If you're relocating to this area and are craving that coffee house vibe, welcome to your new spot at Plateau. Free drink refills on hot/iced house coffee.

The gentleman that works behind the counter, Chris, provided excellent service. Even if the food hadn't been as delicious as it was, we'd be back just for him.

This is a fantastic location to get a cup of coffee or a sandwich, enjoy an amazing view of the Tularosa Basin, and to use wireless internet. Every time I go, the staff is very helpful and tremendously friendly. The food is not fancy, but it is very good, and you get exactly what you order. I also enjoy their chai. My only minor recommendation is that they should have some containers of hot sauce or Tobasco (New Mexicans like spice, even on sandwiches!). Thanks Plateau Espresso for being a great place to eat and do computer work!

Beautiful & cozy. Love this place. It's the ideal place to go and study or just relax. Every time I go it's quiet and clean. Currently in Alamogordo for a few months and came across this sweet coffee shop. Once you have your cup of joe, you can sit back and relax. They have a sectional that is pretty comfy looking into some art work or you can sit in the back looking down at Alamogordo. It made me forget where I was because the view and weather was/is always pretty good. Their coffees are really good and as well as their gelato. If I could go everyday, I would.

Best place to lounge and enjoy some fresh coffee and pastries. The winter wonderland with soy (lactose intolerant) is my go to, aside from a small cup of hazelnut coffee. Yum! Always happy with the service no matter who is working. And with the instance they made my coffee with regular milk, they fixed it right away and made it extra delicious!

Spot-on and consistently good coffee in a place with a great view of the town and mountains. A little out of the way but worth it. Fast friendly service is hard to beat. While there you can enjoy some paintings of listed artist Lester Hughes, whose work hung in the Reagan era White House for reasons that are not hard to see.

This was a great place! They offer alternatives to regular milk and are very great with customer service. I will come back!

The customer service here was top notch.. I had a fairly odd food request for my sandwich and Amanda made it happen. Although the panini was simple, it was delish. The decaf soy caramel frap was on point. If I visit this area again, I will be sure to come again. The view of White Sands and the mountains make it worth the drive up the hill.

Mediocre coffee served way too hot. I burned my tongue. The cookie we had with the coffee was also not so great - poor texture, tasted only of sugar. Insipid music piped in through the ceiling. Nice view of Alamogordo though.

Good coffee and decent food. They also serve gelato which looks really good, but I haven't tried it yet. I had a peppermint latte that was perfect and a chicken portabello sandwich. I got a side of mustard with it and the sandwich was yummy! I love the view from the patio and all of the artwork available on the walls. It's a nice place and the patio is a good place to take the dog or some friends and have a good coffee or espresso drink :).

With only one coffee shop in town, the residence of Alamogordo lucked out with Plateau Coffee. This place is great! Good coffee, friendly workers, and and amazing view. Definitely come here during sunset for one of the most beautiful southwest panoramas you'll see within an urban setting.

Been here 3 times over the last month. Decent coffee, yes, but no real barista skills going on here, and would it kill them to get a better handle on all the flies inside the place? I mean, if I were sitting outside I would understand fighting with flies for my fair share of my food, but not when I'm sitting inside. Unacceptable.

Beautiful interior. Really relaxing place to enjoy you cup of joe, which by the way is great. Had some gilato as well. It was delicious. I look forward to visiting again

Good location near hospital. Unpretentious decor, nice view. Food includes vegetarian choices, arrived qickly and tasted fresh. The cappuccino shake is to die for. The other day, I got another one of those wonderful cappuccino shakes. It took longer than usual and then was "lumpy", not well blended at all. Can happen, but I think it was my last one, because of the smell in the restaurant. They had the mop and bucket sitting behind the counter next to the ice cream, which intensified the experience. Same unappetizing smell as the now closed Golden Corral. I am all for cleaning the floors well and they don't have to make the place smell of spring flowers, but it should not smell of puke either, especially around food.

After arriving in town, I wanted to find a coffee place. Realizing there was no Starbucks (closest is over an hour away in Ruidoso), we came across this place. Very impressed. Good selection of flavors, both the normal and foo-foo. They serve gelato as well, which is fantastic. They do have some sandwhiches/panini's here, which are great on a Sunday morning. Prices are respectable. Location is great, with a good view of the town. its far from the hustle/bustle of the day to day grind. Situated close to the mountains, it offers a relaxing place to enjoy your coffee. The owner is super nice and the staff is good. Crowd varies from the college kids, to the married couples, to the older folks. Reccommend this place.

i stumbled upon this place after driving around town trying to see if i could find a little alcove into the mountains. made a mental note to give it a whirl when i had a hankering for starbucks (which alamogordo does not have). it is on scenic drive...and pretty much anything on that street is in a fantastically scenic spot. you can sit outside or inside. outside has excellent views. inside is clean and large so that you do not feel like you are sitting on top of other people as you sip your drink and pretend your are writing your novel when you are really playing mindsweep. the guy that was working there the day i visited was on a crack riot bender! he was so charged up and ready to serve EVERYBODY ALL AT ONCE. it was entertaining to watch. anyway, the vanilla cappuccino was pretty fantastic and the ginormous lemon poppy seed muffin was sacrilicious. i am giving this place 4 stars because the music that was being played did not go well with the rest of the experience. it was like oldy but not so goodies. so bring your ipod...and have a 5 star experience!

They have the best vanilla lattes! I think this place is way better than Starbucks. The staff is always quick and friendly.

Free wi-fi, great coffee. Sandwiches are really good too. Popular spot for staff and students of NMSU and NM School for the Blind. Somewhat pricey but worth it.
