Very charming and loved the atmosphere, the food was delicious and served promptly both times I have eaten here. However...the wait staff needs to cheer up, smile, and not have an attitude. It's off putting.

The atmosphere is the best feature. Cute old house converted to a restaurant. The food was ok but the service was mediocre at best. The staff was not very friendly and not very attentive. We accidentally spilled a glass of water on the table and there was no attempt to help us clean up and despite the restaurant being almost empty, no offer to move us to a dry table. I might go back but probably not.

Horrible. The food was beyond sub par. I took my wife here for our anniversary, expecting a wonderful meal, and left bitter and disappointed. We ordered the "coconut shrimp" as an appetizer and were very unimpressed as they were clearly pre-made, frozen and tasted awful. I ordered my steak medium-rare, and it came out medium and totally under seasoned (very bland and unflavored). The mixed vegetables that accompanied my dinner were cold and lacked seasoning at all. My wife's "Chicken Cordon Bleu" came out, and I nearly laughed... These are the same pre-frozen, spongy footballs that I ate in chowhalls in Iraq. By this point, I was done. After mentioning our disappointment to the waitress (who simply said something like "well, I'm sorry you feel that way").....we just paid our bill and left. Overall, the long wait for our "meals", the terrible food itself, and the lackadaisical attitudes of the staff leaves a lot to be desired. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Steak, go for steak! It was great. Tender, perfectly grilled, we were pleasantly surprised and happy. After a long day of playing in the sand (White Sands National Monument) come here for steak and recuperate!

I happened upon this place after dinner plans fell through because another restaurant was closed when it was supposed to be open. We were greeted by an attractive and really nice hostess, promptly seated and taken care of. It was a little dark but nice, for turning an older house (1920's maybe?) into a restaurant we really enjoyed it. The food was simple but good. The French Onion soup was good, but could be better just by simply covering the cup or bowl with cheese and broiling it for a few seconds. I enjoyed the battered cod and went for the baked potato over the fries, on the side

Memories was a nice surprise on a Friday afternoon. A woman in town recommended it to my visiting friend and I so we tried it out. It's in a charming house and our service was quick and friendly. We had the baked potato soup and french onion soup -- both great -- and the spinach salad with sweet onion dressing. The salad is quite big. Will definitely come again.

This is an actual house that was converted into a restaurant, and I've gotta say: It is the cutest restaurant I've been to! My husband really enjoyed his lasagna! He said it was flavorful and delicious. Plus, the portion looked reasonable. Sadly, I didn't enjoy the cat fish that I ordered, the portion was very small (3 nugget sized pieces of fish), and I had to submerge the fish in tartar sauce to add flavor. We'll try again though.

The locals (for whatever reason) love this place, and many Alamogordo natives recommend Memories to "new arrivals." I've eaten here at least a half dozen times, and not once was I ever impressed. While the atmosphere is nice for a dinner date, the food is mediocre at best. I've never eaten the same thing twice, constantly searching for what is "so great" about this restaurant. I've yet to find it, and after 6+ tries, I think they've gotten enough of my money. If you skip it, you're not missing much.

Really nice ambiance and great food. Definite place to eat in Alamogordo. Really nice location in an old house that was homey and local.

I like Memories. I try to visit when I'm in Alamogordo because I like the food. I've never had bad food there. I've tried various menu items and I haven't been disappointed. The sauteed mushroom appetizer is good. My favorite thing at memories is the baked potato soup. I usually have a cup of it when I'm there. It's loaded with perfectly soft baked potatoes and topped with a little sour cream, green onions, and (wait for it.....) crispy crumbled bacon! They also cook a mean shrimp scampi dish. I really think this is one of the finest dining experiences available in Alamogordo. This being said, it's also versatile. It's a great place for a romantic dinner date, to meet up with friends, or have a business dinner/lunch. They sometimes have live music and it's usually really good!

This is better as a dinner place than for lunch. The lunch menu, although competent, is mostly sandwiches and nothing special. The dinner menu is much classier. My favorite dinner dishes are the chicken teriyaki (grilled chicken breast with pineapple and a modest dash of teriyaki sauce), the pork tenderloin (cut in thin chunks and with a yummy sauce), and the filet mignon (very tender and tasty). You should start with a cup of the baked potato soup (creamy and sprinkled with cheese). For dessert I like the German chocolate cake and the carrot cake. The restaurant is usually not busy at night, but can be, and it's best to make reservations.

It started out good, was sat in the sun room to get some work done. Music was great, loved the staff, wine and beer selection was good. Then came the food. Don't go for the fish. It was frozen and over cooked. The rice was out of a box and the vegetables were frozen. Really you could not serve fresh food. restaurant-impossible needs to visit this place to teach the cook how to cook and the owner how to manage. After I sent the fish back and asked for anything fresh I got a grilled chicken with frozen veggies and boxed rice. then the owner justified and clarified that yes something was wrong with the fish. No cramp. And no we don't serve fresh veggies. Yes I can get over the fact that they could not steam fresh veggies. Really don't go.

I have like the soup and sandwitch combos at lunch. Dinner is less good. Don't order anything fancy, even if this is one of the better places in Alamogordo. Remember what a low standard we are comparing too... I had chicken cordon blue, ane while not awful, I'm sure it was a frozen entree, probably right out ot the case at Walmart. My dining companion didn't like her meal either. However, I had a great Ruben sanwitch with sweet potato fries once. Really good lean corned beef, seemingly fresh saurkraut, nice rye bread. Another in my party also loved it. One who ordered a Monte Cristo was not so impressed.

I'm a big fan of Memories. I used to go here all the time with my mom when we lived in Alamogordo, and now try to go back whenever we visit. Great setting, the home is beautiful. Delicious food..never had anything there I did not like. And their cornbread is absolutely amazing. Two big thumbs up!

A nice change of menu from typical fast food places that swarm this town. Very cute ambiance and good food.

This was reviewed as one of the best places in town, so when we stayed overnight in Alamogordo, we sought it out. It's in an old house, crammed with knick-knacks galore. We did not have a reservation, so we had to wait a while. The table they finally put us at was near the front and had been vacant when we arrived, so I'm not sure what the wait was for. I had a salad and a salmon dinner, and all was good. My wife just had a salad and a french onion soup, which she said was not very good. The final bill (over $60 with tip) was quite a bit more than we expected for a town like Alamogordo. I guess the defense contractors at the missile base can afford it. We thought it was OK, and if you need a place to eat in Alamogordo, the ambiance is certainly better than Chili's, but the food may or may not be. Our memories of Memories are not among the best of our trip.

We tried to go there the day before Valentine's Day. The hostess and, without a hello or an ounce of friendliness, flatly told us that all their tables were full and they were not seating more people. We asked if there was a list, and she looked fretful and went to talk to what I assume was the owner or manager. Came back and informed us that "if you want to wait we might be able to seat you in half an hour." It's clear when you're not really welcome, so we left. This place appears to not quite get customer service - either the "customer" or "service" part of that phrase. Apparently, once the tables are filled and dinners served, any latecomers are chivvied out. I'm not sure how they make money if they can so easily watch folks walk back out into the night, because every other restaurant I've ever been to greets you, cheerfully puts your name on a list, and seats you when there's a table. In any case, Memories never has to worry about finding me a seat again.

I really enjoyed my steak here. The staff is great, service is good. I don't need much more.

The place was old-fashioned. The food was old-fashioned. This is the geriatric hangout for lunch in Alamogordo. I got a salad, which was just a handful of spinach with some green onions, topped with four slices of hard-boiled egg with a green ring around the yolk. I also got charged for iced tea that someone else ordered. I made it out of there only spending $9 but was hungry again in 20 minutes.

I really like the food here. Being that I'm gluten sensitive, I just order salads, which are usually good. Sometimes I get really wet lettuce, depending on the kind of salad I get. The reason for my 3 instead of 5 stars is because the wait staff are not outgoing or really friendly, except for the owner. The girl who works the register has such a low affect, she seems angry most of the time. The waitresses seem bothered when you ask them for refills of any kind. If this restaurant upped their level of customer service, I will be happy to edit my review.

I liked this place a lot. Nice place to go. I have taken my wife here several times. Older crowd mostly, which is actually a good thing. You wont be bothered by kids. Service has been good everytime we went. The food is good, which many choices to pick from. Parking can be tight if a lot of people attend.

A small place what looks like an old country home turned in to a restaurant. It is small so you have to go early. Bev's Salad was amazing and the steak was also done right. It is exactly what it is, a small restaurant that was a 1920's home before. People go back because the food is good and the people are very friendly. I felt like I was eating at someone's house who had an amazing cook and their family served the people. I was feeling greatful or blessed eat at a place where it was owned by a wonderful family.

Hmmmm... What can I say? I was expecting more. Food was pricey given the basic nature of the menu.... I ordered Prime Rib and although the cut was nice and flavorful, there was nothing spectacular about it. I ordered medium rare and it was more consistently medium than medium rare. Only one side item was offered with the Entrees, so I chose a salad, which again, given the more upscale nature of the restaurant, was less than appealing. The salad consisted of two cucumbers, 3 tomato wedges and iceberg lettuce with my dressing served on the side. All this for $ 20 and change- definitely not what I would expect for the price. Also ordered a bottle of wine to compliment the meal and was more than a little shocked that it had a twist off cap.... Obviously this establishment is holding back on the quality. Based on the desserts we saw delivered to other tables, a square brownie about 2x2 inches similar to one I could get at a bake sale and a bowl of ice cream, we decided to get dessert at Chili's.

We've been to Memories on 3 separate occassions. The first two times was on the weekend and this last time was on a Thursday night. I'm not sure if the restaurant has a different chef on the weekends or what but my food tonight was not great. It was cold, bland, and the shrimp and clams were overcooked. I'll still go back, but primarily because this restaurant is one of two in the area that I can dress up little bit and not feel overdressed. One more thing, this place is categorized as modern European; it's not...it's more of an American/Seafood eatery

Memories is set inside a 1920's style house that has been decorated to within an inch of its life and filled with enough Victorian-style knick-knacks to make you nauseous, but at least it has plenty of atmosphere. (if that's what you're into) The restaraunt initially looked expensive, but its upscale image was undermined by the gloppy pink sponge-paint on the walls, left-over Christmas strip lighting, and cheap, not-so-Victorian place-mats and chairs. Likewise, the dinner was less fabulous-tasting than it initailly sounded from the menu. I recommend forgetting about dinner at Memories and instead going there for a light, simple soup and salad lunch.
