Their regular menu is alright, but what sets them apart are the sopapillas. I'm not a dessert guy, but you can't go here without getting a sopapilla after the meal. Fresh, hot, made-to-order right after the meal, it's truly a treat to feast on one of these filled with the fresh bottle of honey they serve you with the dish. No matter your experience, the sopapillas here would bump your review up at least a star.

Ugh. Do not eat here. So much for quaint Mexican food. I ordered the red chile con carne. Awful This is going to burn so bad on the way out I'm certain. Although I thought my friends order of chicken soup was odd he is rejoicing in the fact he is less likely to suffer sphincter convulsions this evening as it was straight from the generic Campbell's soup from the can) .I did force him to try several bites to ensure we are both on the same page for the lengthy ride home. We do have a roll of TP.

Not mexican ... menudo was nasty ... no flavor ... Tacos ... hahaha ... worst ... i order some beef tacos and they brought me shell tacos ... if i wanted shell tacos i would have gone to taco bell ... rice and beans plain no flavor ... the salsa was bad ... no taste ... we had to put salt and pepper just to get some taste ... sorry for the bad review but it says mexican and well ... in my eyes not even close ... i could do a better salsa by just doing it on the microwave !!!

Did some research before before we went . This restaurant is the oldest operating restaurant in town , owned by the same people . The service was great ,an example- they never let your drinks run low and they remembered us when we went back . The building is old as stated in the other reviews , but then again if your looking for your restaurant to be new and not have a small town vibe like pictures for sale on the wall try the Mc Donalds . And why would you goto a mexican restaurant and order fries ? Your in New MEXICO , not a Las Vegas buffet. So lets get to the food , the Chilie con Queso was delicious. We also had the Guacamole with everything we could think of. Beware the green chilie they serve you with the chips , its not for amateurs. But do try the chiles rellenos, rice, beans ,enchiladas anything, sopapillas. Over all highly recommended , Good prices , Nice staff .

Our group of four arrived just before closing time and the waitress was still very pleasant and accommodating. Menudo got great reviews from our group. Salsa was very hot! Be aware that this is cash only.

Honest and delish Mexican food. What caught our eye was they had menudo on the menu and it was as tasty and authentic as my wife has ever had. You won't be disappointed. FYI salsa is green chili and it packs some heat

Went there a few years ago with my mom a couple of times. Was not impressed. My brother said people had told him it was good, so he tried it with a friend. No it wasn't.

That server was excellent. The freshly fried tortilla chips were seasoned hot to my wide-eyed delight. I just wished that this hole in a tiny wall of a town had better customers so that they could actually improve on the rest that need improvement. Driving along a small town, I always wonder about discovering a gem. Not this time.

Very meh. Bread on my sandwich stale. The fries were undercooked. Food was lacking flavor. The fresh tortilla chips were good. Reportedly opened in 1969, it looks like they haven't done much for the place since. They've gone with this odd mishmash of kitch/thrift store style. They'll even sell you the paintings off the wall (the painting next to my head was labeled $35). The place has a weird, well worn vibe to it. The service was excellent, the food was not. Sorry guys.

My husband and I thought we would try this place since we have been to almost every other restaurant in Alamogordo since moving here. The interior is run-down, which we thought might be a sign of good, authentic Mexican food. The service was good, the food was very mediocre in taste, and when it came time to leave we were notified that only cash or checks are accepted (luckily our checkbook was on hand). Upon walking out, we noticed a small handwritten sign that says, "Cash or checks only." Just a couple hours later and for the next 18-20 hours after that, it was apparent I had gotten FOOD POISONING from the chicken enchiladas I had ordered. It's the first time in my life I've had food poisoning, and it was terrible. We will NEVER go back to El Camino.

I was not impressed. The food was flavorless. I did not feel it was a very clean place. I was almost afraid to try the food. If one doubts the cleanliness in the front, what in the world is the back of the house look like? I gave my review an extra star for the sopapillas.

I brought a group of 15 people here with no notice, and they hooked us up. I appreciated this- I would have called ahead, but couldn't, because I am a cat and I find dialing difficult. There was one woman cooking in the back, and while the food was average, the atmosphere and people were wonderful. Looking forward to going back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
