Best bbq in the area. Go at high traffic times so it's fresh. I also love their blackberry and peach cobbler. Always a friendly staff

It was ok. The food is precooked and does not have the flavor I need in a good BBQ. Perhaps growing up in Texas has me spoiled when it comes to good BBQ. Eat from here when you have too but I prefer Hitchinpost BBQ up by the mall.

The sides (today) were flavorful, much better than our last visit, and the meat itself was fantastic! The beef ribs (which I had) were juicy and perfect off-the-bone tender. It was worth $22. My husband ordered the pork ribs, brisket, and sausage, and while the pork was considerably smaller there were absolutely no complaints to be made. Excellent lunch!

Best brisket ever! Yum. Everything was top notch and very affordable- Great pit stop

I got the chicken, sausage, mac n cheese and potatoes. The sausage was so good. The chicken was slightly dry but I dipped it in their BBQ sauce and didn't even notice the dryness. I loved their mac and cheese. It was so cheesy and warm. The potatoes were really good too. Over all I really liked my meal. My husband got the brisket, sirloin, jalapeño beans, corn on the cob, and the potato salad. I tried all of his food and it was all very yummy. Brisket was tender, sirloin was juicy, beans had a nice kick, corn was great and the potato salad had a nice flavor. The staff was super friendly as well. The inside is clean and the set up/decor is nice as well. The only issue I had with the food was the temperature, but I like my food boiling hot. I eat straight from the pan when I cook. The food was warm and for most people the perfect temperature. I was very surprised that the place wasn't busy for how good the food is.

I read all the reviews on here and so went for dinner with some trepidation. I think the fact that they have all their meats/protein on display is both good & bad - you can see how much is left of any item and how "good" it looks; the downside is that it might be dry and also not as warm as you might like. I tried the carnitas and I think the sirloin tri tip. The carnitas were very good and I would have those again, the tri tip had very little flavor and was a little tough. For sides I had the corn, jalapeno beans and the jalapeno cornbread. The corn was pretty flavorless; the beans were good but the jalapenos had next to no flavor/heat, but the cornbread was the worst - very dry and had no flavor. I poured the spice southwest sauce onto my meal and it did have a good sweet and spicy flavor. I thought the prices were okay (my combo meal was $10.99) and there was a lot of food. They do charge a 50c additional fee if you pay with a credit card.

Not busy at all on a Wednesday night at 6pm. The staff was friendly and the interior was clean and bright, but the food didn't impress. I didn't know ahead of time that all the food is already cooked and kept warm behind a glass display - nice because you can see what you're getting (and they do offer a large variety), but not the best for overall freshness. I had the following meal: Meat 1: Carnitas: the best meat I had. Looked dry on the outside but was warm and moist and had great flavor on the inside. Meat 2: Beef rib: overcooked and dry - the outside was all blackened, the meat fell off of the bone as a whole dry piece, and I needed a good amount of BBQ sauce to finish it. Meat 3: Sirloin: not too much flavor, nothing special Side 1: Garlic potatoes: looked better than they tasted; did not have much garlic and lacked some saltiness (and I usually never add salt to any meal) Side 2: Green beans: looked plain and tasted plain, nothing special Overall, nothing spectacular. Probably would only come back again for the carnitas.

Meats here are great, and there are a ton of choices. We had pretty much one of everything, and no complaints. The sides leave a little to be desired, but maybe I'm spoiled by the array of choices at my local Poke-E-Jo's. The cobblers and pies look very good, but sadly I'm now full of meats. Oh, and no beer. Sadface.

I really enjoy the chicken, ribs and kelbasa, lots of options. I found the chicken was juicy, not greasy and really tasty. The sidesare also really good, and I am always tempted to buy a gianormous cookie or something else. For $10 or so I end up with enough food for two meals, so I always end up taking some home. It's hard to drive by when you are hungery with plans of eating somewhere else, as the whole neighborhood smells like really good BBQ.

Bring your appetite! The food is great and there is a wide variety in which to choose! The servings are large! The platters come with corn, sides and a dinner roll or jalepeno corn muffin! There is also 3 kinds of cobbler and huge cookies! We will definitely eat here again!

I would give this 3 1/4 stars if the system would let me. I got the two-meat combo with brisket and carnitas, green beans, jalapeno pinto beans, and jalapeno cornbread. The brisket was legit! The carnitas were pretty good, but a little dry. Everything else was good, not great. I'd go back just for the brisket! No beer for sale, which was a bit of a let down. Would probably stop in again and recommend to others. They've got a serious selection of desserts, cobbler, pies, humungous cookies, ice cream, etc. Got some blackberry cobbler with ice cream for the road. They charge a $.50 convenience fee for credit cards, FYI.

I get a little irksome when I see small-time restaurants advertising franchising on their website. You got three locations in the middle of nowhere, NM - you're not going to be taking on McDonald's anytime soon. With this bit of grump in mind, I didn't intend on necessarily trying Can't Stop Smokin', but it was the Sunday night of a holiday, and most of the town was closed. I got the four meat Pete's Picks combo - brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and - because they were out of ribs - carnitas. The pork sausage was tender with a bit of snap, though I'd be hard-pressed to find a sausage at a barbecue restaurant that I haven't enjoyed. This being the brisket part of the world, the lean slices of cow were thinly cut and pull-apart tender, not necessarily needing sauce, but the sauce was good, so there was some dipping going on. Pulled pork is the easiest thing to make around here, so I was disappointed with the overly-sauced presentation. A slice of jalapeno cornbread provided more kick than I was expecting, whereas the mac and cheese made exactly the kind of fast-casual blandness I was expecting. The most surprising part of the meal was the carnitas - large chunks of pork that were tender, heavily-spiced, and unsauced, making them everything you would expect to find in a southwestern barbecue joint, and something to which Can't Stop Smokin' can hang their hat on truly unique to them. Maybe not franchise-worthy, but as good as it gets in Alamogordo.

Ordered a #3 combo, carnitas pork and sausage w/green beans and potatoes. I was offered a free taste of the sausage when I first walked to the counter... Awesome and it was delicious. The carnitas pork and green beans have a good spicy kick to them. The BBQ sauce is on the sweet side and compliments the meat well. Nothing mind blowing at this joint. Good selection of meats and deserts and the flavor is decent. Staff is friendly. This could be the best restaurant in town as I didn't see a whole lot of other choices. I would recommend a stop in here. I wanted to sleep after eating here-fair enough portions.

Great BBQ food for any location, even better for Alamogordo. Lots of choices and the flavors are amazing. Pork, chicken, beef...its all good. Some of it can be spicy if you are a wuss like me. THeir deserts are outstanding and especially like the peach and blackberry cobblers. We even got a BBQ turkey from them for Thanksgiving. Be ware, can be a little pricey.

Pretty darn good BBQ. The inside is nicely designed, and the bathroom is the cleanest I have ever seen. The pricing is a little on the high side for what you get, but it's fantastic. I have not had anything I was utterly disappointed with. Give it a shot.

If I were wooing a redneck girl I'd take her here to impress her. Kinda nice atmosphere with as many napkins as you need. Oh, and the BBQ is like West Texas style... very good, and you won't leave hungry.

Great ribs! We drove by and saw it was all you can eat ribs (Tuesday) and that's all my husband needed to see. The ribs were nice and tender and the meat just fell off the bone. Plus they had a good kick to them. I got the garlic potatoes which were delicious, but my Mac & Cheese wasn't very warm and kind of bland. Husband had got green beans and they were not impressive at all. The reason I give them such a low rating is because before I got back to base my stomach totally disagreed with the food and both my husband and I spent the night in the bathroom.

I wish I could give this place more stars, but alas.... The restaurant is really bright, clean, and well decorated. The staff is hip and friendly, and they play really cool music. The sweet tea is spot on, and their pies were nice. The spices, sauces, and flavor profiles are very traditional, and the sides are fairly okay. The problem is the Meat... What's supposed to be the star of the show; the BBQ, is just not as good as one would expect. The pork ribs, beef ribs, pulled pork, and brisket are all a bit too dry and bland... I'm certain this is because the meat just sits in those steam trays up front, and overcooks for hours. I know they slice some cuts to order, but even those whole portions they cut from are kept in the same steamer/hotel trays. Because of this, it seems that the flavors just aren't there. I mean, yes, there's a little smoke, yes, there's spices... but the flavor of the meat is just killed by overcooking (or from just sitting around, toughening up, and drying out). Words like "juicy", "meaty", and "delicious" unfortunately do not jump out at you as great BBQ should. I will say that their chicken is quite tasty, and fairly tender. But for a BBQ place, I feel like everything should be "fall-off-the-bone-tender", juicy, and not dry at all. I've gone here about 4 times in about 5 months, and it's always been the same. It's probably the best BBQ in town, but it leaves a lot to be desired for sure. My only other gripe, is that the food is too expensive in my opinion. And yes, I understand that Alamogordo is a high-desert, dry climate... but I've cooked/smoked plenty of brisket, ribs, chicken, and roasts here (at home); and my stuff never dries out. I will go try the Ruidoso location (the original I believe), and see if theirs is any better.

I went here solely on the good reviews. I'm sadly disappointed, friends :( It's too pricey and the BBQ tasted pretty bland to me and our jalepeno corn bread was cold/smelled like body odor. Guess we got them on their "miss" day.

Great BBQ! The sirloin tri-tip was delicious! Sides were great too! Staff was very personable, offered suggestions and seemed to genuinely like their work.

Truly fine barbecue. The meats are flavorful without any sauce, and the sides are delicious. Occasionally, they have live music on the covered patio. On any day, you can choose beef or pork ribs, chopped or sliced brisket, sausage, tri-tip, pulled port, carnitas, chicken, turkey legs, and chicken ribs (must be tried to be believed), as well as whatever the pitmaster had on hand. On this last visit, I got the #3 combo (1/2 pound of meat, two sides, and a bread) with lemonade. I chose the sliced brisket and sausage, with the cornbread, jalapeno beans and blackberry cobbler. Any place that will include blackberry cobbler as a side dish is worth trying out. The brisket had a good smoke ring, and nice smoky flavor. The sausage was a nice counterpoint, and a bit of the spicier sauce helped them both without overpowering the flavor of the meat. The beans were not too spicy, but had a nice cooked-overnight flavor to them. The jalapeno cornbread was slightly sweet and paired well with both the beans and the cobbler. The cobbler is dangerously delicious. Can't Stop Smokin' is truly fine New Mexico Barbecue

We had lunch there today before visiting a nearby state park. The lunch was good, but we've been to better BBQ places in the past.

great bbq !!

Great BBQ, best in town by far. Only complaint is some times they can be cheap. Depending of whom you get, if they over give you any amount of meat when they weigh it, and its over they will take it and put it back...... Any good place loves to give people lots of food and this clearly isnt the case. Doesnt sound like much but when you order a half pound plate and it comes out to .60 and they remove some its kind of ridiculous. SOOO many flies as well.

Best BBQ that I've ever had. Ever.
