What a great find. We were on our way from the New Mexico Museum of Space Travel to White Sands National Monument and wanted to quick lunch. The sandwich selection is extensive with many featuring local flavors. Try the green chili turkey melt. They also make 2-foot "family size" subs. You can save a little when you buy big. Pickles, pepperoncini and jalapenos are with the condiments. Take as many as you like.

This place has great food! I do not live in this town or state but whenever I visit I always leave full and happy. The only negative thing is some customers are somewhat judgmental. I have tattoos and piercings so among the people of Alamo I stand out haha But this of course has nothing to do with the restaurant. Great food, love this place.

great sandwich shop and very nice staff. I had BBQ chicken and my coworker had a hot pastrami and swiss. We were both happy. Good ingredients make a great meal. The breads are really good and the meats and cheese are high quality. There's not a lot of seating, so beat the rush!

Such an amazing sandwich shop! Subway doesn't even come close! Great service as well! Prices are fair, and the quality is amazing! Haven't had a bad experience yet!
(5)Ryan Y.
Fresh, high quality (Boar's Head) ingredients, friendly staff and fair prices make this otherwise nondescript establishment a winner. I had the #5, one of several "Italian" options on the menu. Delicious. Highly recommended.
(5)Mark H.
Had the Ultimate Green Chili Sandwich w/ Chicken. Pretty awesome. Place is small and when busy for lunch it can be hard to find a table. Menu is also on the wall to the right and the bags of chips are the large size. Great place for lunch.

Awsome subs! The meatball sub is especially good. I haven't gotten anything I haven't liked so far, and the food is always made very well. I'd give it 5 stars, if the staff was better. There always seems to be new staff, but they have all been very rude or full of tude. If the staff improved, I'd give it 5 stars. Even still it's awesome, and a fun treat for our family. Would definitely recommend. Better than sub way, and cheaper than anywhere else I've seen.

Best sandwiches in town! Fresh vegetables, a dressing that is delectable and Boar's Head brand meats. The service is amazing and the prices are great. My one wish is that they delivered.

First day in Alamogordo, Brown Bag was the first place we went to eat. As my husband and I walked into the shop, I was in awe of their wall of options. As we stood with our jaws hung open, drooling over the choices, the people who walked in behind us simply smiled and said "everything's good here". I ended up with the #17 Meat choice & avocado and my husband got some Italian deal. I liked his sub better than mine. When you place your order, they ask you what toppings and condiments you would like. We also ordered their coleslaw and potato salad. Everything was DELIcious. My recommendation is order smaller sizes. I ordered a medium sub and couldn't finish it. Also, they have a banana pepper/pickle bar that you can fill to your hearts content. Definitely try out Brown Bag and find out what your combo number is. Bon Appetite!

When you first come in, you might think you're about to experience a normal subway sandwich, but my wife and daughters really liked their sandwiches. The bread tastes homemade and the cheese was delicious, so they were quite impressed. The bags of chips are double the size of most places you go, and there are a lot cool choices on their menu. I eat gluten-free, so I ordered one of the sandwiches as a salad and it was a 100% better than the mainstream sub places I've been to. Great job, Brown Bag.
(5)Ruth R.
Super friendly staff and were really quick with our orders. They have really large selection and portions. I got a small sandwich, which was way more sandwich than what I thought it would be. My boyfriend got a foot long. It was probably our first legitimate foot long, and we've just been cheated out whole lives eating at other restaurants that claim to sell "foot-long" sandwiches. All in all, a great meal. Will probably go back their the next time were in town.
(5)Sven W.
Pastrami like you only get on the east coast. Toasted rye, brown mustard, and provolone. They ask you exactly how you want your sandwich so there's no confusion. Great service and a great sandwich.
(4)Jill B.
I believe the sandwich I had here was the best sub sandwich I have ever eaten. I thinks it's due to the great bread they have. I thought their prices were very reasonable but I'm from California where food is a lot more expensive. Prices were comparable to subway. The wait time to get your meal is excessively long but definitely worth the wait.

Huge menu.... freakin fantastic food! It is very difficult to find sandwiches this good anywhere! My husband and I are fairly new to Alamogordo, but it doesn't take long to try most of the restaurants in town. I have been fairly disappointed with most places here, but Brown Bag Deli is the best! Everything was really fresh. This was the most delicious sandwich I have had in months! The portions are large, and did i mention it was FRESH?!? The meats are quality (Boar's Head brand), the bread is amazingly fluffy, and service is quick! I will be returning very soon... hmm maybe tomorrow... I have definitely found my favorite in Alamogordo!

Most important: open on Sundays. We were searching for grub post-hike at White Sands and drove around Alamogordo only to find almost everything closed on Sundays. I found Brown Bag Deli via yelp and off we went. Boars Head meats and sandwiches sounded solid. I got the green chile chicken club sans bacon and added avocado. Hubs got bologna and monterey jack with avocado. Just a good sandwich to give us energy for the ride back to ELP.
(3)Jace V.
Huge menu, way better than franchise sandwich shops and cheaper. Even a sandwich on plain white bread is loaded and tasty. My favorite is a Rueben on grilled sour dough, with the hamistrami. And it's only 4 blocks from my house... The staff are always friendly, and just good local folks. Lunch time gets busy, but that's because it's so popular.
(5)Jason J.
Fantastic sandwiches and absolutely friendly staff that keeps the place clean. I really wanted to try the cake but pretty small pieces for $4.00 so I passed. All the sandwiches we had were fantastic, though I would pass on the chicken and green chilie sandwich and go for a larger sandwich :)
(5)Toby W.
Pretty good sandwiches. I would recommend coming here if you're craving a sandwich, but not if you're wanting to try something unique and absolutely delicious. The man making the sandwiches was really nice.
(3)Peter H.
I had the green chile chicken club on sourdough. It was a great sandwich. They have boar's heads meats. The bread was just ok but I guess I am spoiled. It seemed like a popular spot; there was a line to the door when I got there at 1:30 and the guy running the counter said it had been like that since 10:30!
(3)Lloyd R.
A large is a lot of food. Quick, decent service, and better than a franchised sub store. However, the sandwich I chose wasn't anything super special. It's not that it was bland, per se, but there wasn't anything that I would taste and say "man, I really want brown bag again." That's not to say it wasn't just what I ordered, I'd try it again and get something different next time.
(3)Oscar C.
Pretty good place for sandwiches. Stomps subway in the ground any day of the week. Lots of available options, if you're in the mood for sandwiches, you should check it out.
(4)K B.
This place has delicious sammies. Big in portion, meat and toppings. The bread is a fluffy cloud to nestle the meat and cheese on. I wish there was one located where I live. Way better then other chain sandwich shops.
(4)Allen S.
The hot sandwiches here are under-appreciated, and give you tastes you can't get anywhere else in town. The green chile chicken club is their signature dish, but the barbecue chicken is also yummy (get it with onions and ranch dressing), and the marinara supreme is accurately advertised as being like a supreme pizza in a roll (even down to the pepperoni grease dripping from it - get lots of napkins).
(4)John L.
Boar's Head Deli in Alamagordo. So for starters the are using the best ingredients. 10 min from Space Museum. Independent. Not a corporate chain. Clean. Affordable. All sandwiches come in three sizes. Easy to get in and out. What's not to like? Here gets a 5 star with good margin.
(5)Cyndy L.
Good sandwiches at a fair price. I got the green chile chicken club with avocado added. Service was a little slow, but we were not in a hurry so did not mind.
(3)Amanda H.
I dont live in Alamogordo anymore I live in San Antonio Now, But man do i miss BBD! :( Every time I go back I always swing by for a bite to eat!
(5)Ryan S.
Lots of items to choose from (even though I get the same thing everytime :P LOL). Staff is very friendly! The food is DELICIOUS! Whenever BrownBag is mentioned for lunch or dinner, I will never be sad! I have eaten here literally since I was born- my Mom and Dad used to buy tiny trays of shredded meat for me when I was an infant! (: Their long subs are great for parties too! Yummy yummy yummy- 5 out of 5 stars (:
(5)Jazmine V.
A good find in Alamogordo. There's not a lot of restaurants/food places to talk about in here. Brown Bag Deli is always a place I can count on to get a good deli sandwich when I am back home. I love the selection of hot peppers and pickles so you can spice up the sandwich just the way you like it. They have a great selection of drinks including snapple. I like the chip selection, too. This place makes you forget all about Subway and Quizno's. The sandwiches are legit, hometown goodness :).
(4)Malia R.
I sooooo miss this place! It's definitely in the top 5 of my favorite restaurants ever. Everything is so fresh and delicious. Definitely a local gem. I head straight here whenever I'm in town.
(5)Nikita W.
Let me start by saying this was my favorite place to eat in Alamogordo. The Sandwiches are amazing and it's a nice quaint place to eat. I order the same thing every time... #17 with the *special* carribean jerk turkey, olives, lettuce, onions and green chile. My husband and I split a foot long. I went to bed happy at 730 pm and woke up at 930 pm drenched in sweat, nauseous and had some of the worst stomach cramps I've ever had. My husband had the same symptoms. You can imagine how the rest of my night went. I should have known when the cashier said she had to check if they still had any more of the turkey left. I had a horrible night, and I'm just glad I only let my 11 month old nibble on bread from my sandwich. As much as I loved this place, I don't know if I'll ever eat here again which is a shame because it was by far my favorite food shop. So beware... And at a minimum, id reconsider the carribean jerk turkey- just in case my husband and I didn't get the last of it.
(2)JP W.
I love BBD, they have the best sandwiches in Alamogordo (not saying much, but still.)
(4)F. S.
Good, probably the best subs in town, but too expensive. And skip the sides unless you want to pay 75 cents for a thimble full of potato salad or whatever. Potatos are cheap guys!

I called on Jan 12, 2014. I wanted to place a large order for Monday pick up. I asked if they had a menu on the web. Was told NO. I asked if they could tell me the soup for Monday, was told NO. I asked if they could tell me what is on the menu and was told we are busy. I asked if they could call me back and young lady said, "maybe I'll call you back "if" we have time" . I said this is for 15-20 people and she did not seem to care. I am taking my business to Subway or elsewhere. I hope the owner is aware of the poor customer service on the phone. I also suggest you consider delivery, for advanced orders. I'd be happy to pay a deliver fee and tip. Oh, when she hung up she did not say good bye, or thank you it was just click..... whatever.....
(1)Heather M.
Amazing sandwiches with quality meats. Food is very low cost and tastes great! I have had their salads, soups, sandwiches, and desserts. Everything is excellent and ready in a timely manner. Their desserts are exceptional (red velvet cakes and cheesecakes are my favorite).
(5)Sydney C.
Really great sandwiches a good location around the corner from the zoo and not too far from White Sands. Really great prices and the sandwiches are pretty big with a nice soft bread. Good selection of toppings and add-ons as well. Mix it up by getting a sandwich with cole slaw on top!
(4)Brandon P.
Great sandwiches!! Highly recommend over Subway, although they don't have Spinach. The bread is so good and fluffy and the meat is fresh. Great place.
(5)Dianne L.
Fantastic sandwiches, big and filled with the works! Had the #21 = SO good! A MUST if you're in the area.
(5)Ryan S.
Great sandwiches, I will come back. All the meats and cheese are cut fresh for your individual sandwich.
(5)Greg F.
Great place for a sub #31 is a favorite it's a fast and friendly place.
(5)Trelsie S.
This deli was a diamond in the rough. We were on a trip to new mexico and were looking for so something to eat while traveling to white sands sands. This place is extremely reasonable and has great sandwiches and the portion sizes are perfect. I lived their sandwich with ham cheese and coleslaw. The staff was really nice and they have a huge menu.
(4)Celeste H.
Fast, fresh, clean, and best of all - it's not Subway. It's the Brown Bag Deli! It's fun coming in for lunch, relaxing, and listening to their satellite radio. Sandwiches are great, and there's always different soups of the day, and cake slices. I love it. The owner and rest of staff are usually super-friendly. Lunch is busy, but I've never had to wait very long because they are so fast. Glad this place is in Alamogordo.
(5)Nathan M.
We tried this place on a whim after a full day shopping. The smell walking in was nice, warm bread. Reminded me of a great sub place where I grew up. Menu is big and diverse, with lots of sandwhich choices. I had the Reuben (a personal favorite of mine), and it was good. Fresh sandwhiches made to order. Highly recommend this place to all.
(4)Robert B.
Very good homemade sandwiches. We had there turkey pastrami special. Perfect size and really good price.
(4)Vanessa D.
I haven't had a sandwich that I haven't liked. Sandwiches are fresh and delicious!
(4)Laura W.
Great selection of sandwiches. Everything tastes fresh. Quick service. Good bread.
(5)Aris B.
Fresh ingredients, good bread, great sandwiches as a result. The chile chicken club is as good as the reviews say. Cheese and avocado was great for my special vegetarian.
(4)Nathan B.
Awesome grub and my favorite sandwichs! They use Boar's Head meats and they are so yummy! My fav, a #9 and also #16. Give the Salsalito turkey a try!
(5)Chad L.
Jesus De Cristo I miss this place! Its like if fergie and Jesus had a sandwich baby this would be it! Their selection of sandwiches are huge, the prices are fair, the employees are pretty nice, and there is plenty of room to sit. I grew up eating at this place but back then they were down the street on 10th st. If you live in Alamo and have never tried this place slap your self right now! Its a must if your passing through or visiting.
(5)John B.
I ate here twice in the past three weeks, both times ordering a foot-long roast beef sandwich on their white sub rolls. Both sandwiches were off-the-hook fantastic. The sub rolls were big and soft, and all the roast beef was fresh with great flavor. Ordering is easy, service is fast, and the prices are damn decent! All the girls working there have excellent, positive attitudes...and I'm a sucker for a nice smile! I'll definitely be eating here again.
(4)Bill Z.
Nice place. Low key, casual. The Green Chili Chicken Club sandwich is EXCELLENT!
(4)Jesse F.
This place is awesome. I especially enjoy their avocado spread and their bread. It doesn't leave you bored like Subway and the staff is always incredibly friendly.
(5)Scott S.
Brown Bag is awesome! The Green Chile Chicken Club is a culinary marvel. Definitely the best thing on the menu. Lots of other great sandwiches to choose from. The Marinara is good and the Turkey Avocado is awesome too. Great place, great service, fantastic food.
(5)Luke M.
Great Italian subs, very good service! Not a lot of atmosphere, though.
(4)Derek B.
We were driving through after a visit to White Sands National Monument on our way to Texas. Out of laziness we were going to stop at Subway but when we spotted this local deli, we were all over it. The place wasn't too busy, the staff was friendly, the selection was basic and the usual as far as delis go and everything was really clean. Sandwiches were pretty big and overall it was a fine experience. I really liked all the 4-H and state fair photos on the walls. Nice touch. P.S. The whole time we were there we were wondering... where are we... where the f is Alamogordo... who lives here... what is there to do... Such a random place.
(4)Casey S.
Sandwiches are well made and enjoyable. A tad overpriced.... The ice bucket doesnt seem to be sanitary at all to me and should be removed completely. Staff is friendly at the cash register but some times can make a lot of noise in the back.
(4)Rex S.
Still top of the pile when it comes to deli food here in the Tularosa Basin. Always fresh and good.
(5)Darcey B.
YUM! My husband and I love this place. We have tried a few of the sandwiches, and all were very good, but our favorite is definitely the BBQ Chicken Deluxe. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
(5)Karen S.
Lots of yummy sandwiches. I love the pastrami Reuben on sourdough. Generous portions, sandwiches made to order with Boar's Head. You can also order any sandwich as a salad. This place gets to be very busy at lunchtime, so allow extra time if you go then.
