This is a pretty good diner. We had dinner here the other night my boyfriend got a steak and I got the seafood jambalaya. He said his was delicious and so was mine. Mine even came with a lobster tail in it!! All the seafood was perfectly cooked which is impressive for a diner. I was really excited to get such awesome food for cheap at a diner!! The food Is great but the service is usually pretty terrible. The waitresses ignore you whenever they can. They never ask how the food is or if you need a new drink which is pretty annoying. But that's usually how diners are around here at least. I always get the salmon Benedict for breakfast and it's delicious!

A gold standard in diners. Good food; served fast. Excellent wait staff. Fun "classic" metal dining-car diner look. Since it's a diner, it's not gourmet but the food is fresh and well prepared. Surprising considering the huge range of items on the menu. Standouts are their burgers, gyros, eggs, pastries. Omlets are average. Coffee is ok. Fish is usually good. Steaks and meats are very good. The prime rib is exceptional and reasonably priced. Soups are heavy on the salt; my favorite is the Yankee Bean. Downsides: this place is popular. Expect a wait during peak periods. They have an exceptional maître d'who coordinates the throngs of customers well. He has been here for at least ten years. Owners stay out of the way and let their excellent staff do their jobs. Been eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner here for decades. I like that the management has been able keep of many their staff for decades as well; my hat is off to you.

This is definitely your quintessential NJ diner. The menu is ridiculously huge as well as the portion size. The food is pretty tasty, basically on par with your diner food. I got a Mexican wrap and fries. Probably not the best thing to get at a diner, but it was good. A coworker ordered the chicken sandwich and it was literally two chicken breasts. I will certainly be back in the future.

  • Rae M.

Wow. This food is fabulous. I order the chicken a la Greco and wow. It was amazing. It came with a Greek salad and their house dressing was wonderful - I judge all Greek diners off their dressing, this was the best I've had in a long time. The service was fantastic, too.

The boy, ahem the husband and I love this diner. It's nowhere near where we live but we make it a point to stop in if we're in the area. We've never had a bad meal and the service has always been great. Today was the first time we went in when it was crowded and loud, typically we've been in during off hours. Their matzoh ball soup is delicious! Last time we were in I had a patty melt that was also so so good. Today the husband had a tuna salad platter, we both enjoyed it. I'm typically a bit weary of tuna that we don't make at home but theirs was quite tasty. The menu is like a giant playbook with a gazillion choices. Typically diner fare, fair prices and tasty food! We'll be back for sure.

If you believe that America's best days are over, then this is the Americana for you. A Tuna Melt is a simple dish that's a good measure of a restaurant. By this yardstick, the Americana comes up short of an inch. The attached picture of my Tuna Melt here appears that they may have actually left the plastic on the single-serve slice of cheese that is barely melted. The picture hides that the tuna was actually cold inside. The meal came with a desert, but I asked for the check before they had a chance to poison me.

One because i had to give star. Sux, sux, sux, sux sux, sux, sux...and yes it sucks. How much I miss the Broadway Diner in Red Bank but alas, its gone. Now the nearest Diner is this place and the owner is the reason the place is empty. I had a bad experience here about a year ago, yet no other choice since Red Bank's Broadway Diner closed. But. I gave it another try and the owner is still an asshole. Please open a diner in Red Bank again, somebody.

We stopped in for take out on our way to our hotel on a night randomly in Tinton. I was a little skeptical- diners can be hit or miss but had a fantastic experience. The staff was so welcoming and our food was delicious! I had a veggie burger and my fiancé had the turkey bacon club. Highly recommend stopping at the Americana diner!

I went to this diner to have a nice New Years Day meal with my son and his friend and to say we were dissatisfied would be a tremendous understatement. I was in the mood for a nice big fresh fluffy hot Belgium waffle, and what they gave me was an extremely dry, small, frozen waffle that wasn't fully heated up in their microwave as the middle was ice cold to the touch. A man who appeared to be one of the bus boys came over and I said this doesn't look like I expected, and he was very very rude and nasty to me and said there's nothing wrong with it! What's wrong with it, what you want! I was taken aback by his behavior, and immediately became upset as I am going through cancer treatments and haven't been able to go out much lately but thought it would be nice to go out for New Years Day. I was almost in tears, forget about my waffle, but the way this guy spoke to me. I said well, I thought it would be nice and hot and with powdered sugar on it, then he grabs a glass thing of powdered sugar and slams it down on the table in front of me and goes, there's the powdered sugar, now what else do you want! I said nothing because I really just wanted him to get away from me, he then stormed off. I had the waitress take the waffle back and I said I wanted a fresh one, I broke the first one in pieces so I could be sure they wouldn't just heat it up in the microwave again. And guess what she brought out literally 30 seconds later, another waffle that was nuked in the microwave..... Well then that same guy passes by and goes you want anything else? I asked him if he was a manager or owner or just working there, and he said manager, and I asked what his name was and he said "Jimmy" When our waitress came back I asked her how long was "Jimmy" working there, and she goes, oh I don't know, he is one of the owners..... My my my.... nice "owner", Jimmy is not only a nasty rude person, he's also a liar.... Better off going somewhere else to eat.....

Good food, big portions, but over priced. $10 for a small Greek salad with no meat?!?!

  • Jennifer C.

Stopped here last night on the way home from the shore. Excellent service and great food. The restaurant was very clean too. The 2 boys had standard burgers with disco fries (if you don't know what this is; you really haven't lived!). I had a salmon panini which was extremely fresh and tasty. My friend had a rib eye steak sandwich over garlic bread. She said it was the best she ever had !

  • Sara S.

The food here is lackluster, to be kind. The high point is their French toast. But maybe I'm a snob- I refuse to pour that putrid "smuckers maple syrup" on anything. There's no maple syrup in it!! Dude, if you want to step your diner game up, do the following: -real maple syrup. I'd pay an extra .50 cents for it. Anyone who cares a little but about what their food tastes like probably would too. - sausage. I'm not too sure why it was white...but perhaps visiting a local Salumeria To support another local business would allow you to serve something that has flavor and isn't visually unappealing. - serving coffee in tiny cups is not cool man. Not cool. A solid 8 oz coffee mug for adults would be appreciated by many I'm quite certain. Aren't NJ diners supposed to be awesome? Because so far they haven't been.

  • Michael P.

Not the best or worst I've had. Menu is pretty pricey for the foods. But when I received the large portions of them, I understand that now. Our server was rude and he never said welcome. Took our orders and never to be seen again. I spilt a drink on the table and then a bidder came over as I jumped up and he said "move" real snappy. I almost wanted to spill another drink just to piss him off again. Lol. I ordered the lemon chicken breast with fried broccoli and home fries. Everything but the chicken was good. This place is not horrible by any means. I have been to plenty worse. But they need some improvements. Including adjusting their portions and prices. And they need to retrain their staff and teach them politeness.

I've been here twice and I left disappointed both times. There are much better diners around. The food quality is below average and the waiting staff all seem pretty miserable. The 2 star review is only because I didn't get sick or die from eating the food, other than that I'd give it a 1 star.

Has been my favorite diners in nj for the last two decades. All of the diner food is delicious at any time of day. I highly recommend their: Disco fries (ordered with mozzarella cheese and gravy on the side) Cheese omelette Cheeseburger deluxe (love their steak fries and Cole slaw) French toast Pancakes 2 eggs over easy with potatoes and toast Coffee Like I said... my favorite diner..... any dire staple, this is where I want it from. Perfect every time and never disappointed. If I want something that isn't a known diner staple, I go elsewhere so I can't really opine on that. But as far as diner fare goes, it's the gold standard.

Haven't been here in a few years, but I used to come all the time when I was a kid. First thing I noticed was that they needed new menus. They are pretty much the same menus that were used when I was going there in 1999. Just give 'em an update! I got a panini with curly fries and it was great! I mean, it's a panini. You can't really screw up a panini. I also got a bowl of matzo ball soup and eh, not my favorite. Broth was pretty bland and tasteless. Prices are a little steep for a diner, but I guess you get what you pay for. A good option since the Broadway Diner closed.

Haven't been here in years but decided to give it a try today as my family and I were in the area. I'll keep it short as we never ate. The employees were very rude about seating as as we were an "incomplete" party. My wife was in the car with our sleeping baby. Amazingly the first employee was going to seat us at a smaller table (that wouldn't fit my whole family because we didn't all walk in together) luckily he was told it was ok to seat us at a larger table as an "exception" but next time we must come in as a complete party. When I went to explain the situation ("do you want my wife to wake up our sleeping baby?") he walked away because he was too busy. Well we walked away as well and will never be back.

We went for breakfast with work colleagues. We got there at about 10am and were having a really great brainstorming. We got full breakfasts and the food was good. The waitress was nice. It got to about noon and we were still going strong. There were a number of empty tables around us so we definitely weren't preventing the waitress from a potential seating. We noticed the host kept lurking and eyeing us. Finally he came over and said "we are going to need this table" and he did so in such snarky way. We looked around and there were no signs of a wait. Our team had planned on ordering lunch but the manner and attitude in which we were treated left a bad taste. We promptly got up, tipped the waitress generously and left for the last time. Will never go back there. Little host man with a Napoleon complex ruined it.

Ate breakfast here on Sunday with my boyfriend on our way back to South Jersey. It was absolutely packed when we got there! But we decided to sit at the counter so we were seated immediately. Our waitress (possibly named Claire?) was running around like crazy but was able to still be so nice and make sure everything was okay. She was great! My boyfriend got the 2 x 4...it had eggs, pancakes, home fries, and bacon. I got an American cheese omelette, bacon, home fries, and toast. Everything was delicious! The pancakes were especially outstanding. I was stealing bites from my boyfriend because they were so good. If we go up that way again, I will definitely be stopping here for breakfast and getting pancakes! Yum!

If you like Matzo Ball Soup, this is the place to go. They also have a platter that has dolmas. Huge portions on entrees and sandwich platters. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is that the food is slow to come from the kitchen. The waitresses are excellent and all very friendly. The slow service is not because if them.

I've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed except one time I came with my mother. She ordered a side of toast and wedged in between her toast was used cherry stems. We thought that was gross and I don't know if any of the young guys working there thought it would be a funny joke to do that but it wasn't...

classic diner look. The menu has a wide selection. The thing I love about NJ diners is that the waitressess and food are always pretty much the same even though they have different owners. I'd say this one is no different on the food and service side. On the other hand,it does have a classic diner look

The food is good. But honestly, I haven't been here in several years because on two separate occasions I found a large dead bug in my lettuce. Once in a salad, and once on a turkey club. I even forgave them and went back to give them a second chance. What are the odds, really?! And I love their matzoh ball soup, but I just can't bring myself to go back there again.

Went here with My Family for lunch. The service was HORRIBLE. Also when my Strawberry Shortcake Dessert came out the CREAM was SPOILED. I told the cashier on the way out because my waiter was no where to be found. She said OH OK. Nothing else not even Sorry or let me let you talk to the Manager just OH OK. I will NEVER RETURN here ever again.

I had the chicken and sausage and it was fixed perfectly. The sausage was spicy but not too hot and the chicken was juicy and full of flavor. If you go here bring a big appetite or be prepared to take some home. The portions were very large.

Don't know why I never seem to get around to writing a review on the American, which is the only decent diner at the Jersey shore, but here goes. Very decent food for breakfast and lunch served swiftly and at the right price. Have not had dinner here but I suspect it would be equally as good. Clifford the manager and greeter is always friendly and helpful. We have known him for over 20 years and he is a real pro. So if you are in the area and in the mood for diner food you can't go wrong at the Americana. Do give them a try...

the waitress was rude as hell, she had this kill me now look on her face, and then when we ordered drinks she just threw the straws and left, didn't even ask us if we're ready to order or she gonna come back. We just left becuase we didn't feel welcomed there. Went to Friday's instead and the waitress was more than friendly and polite gave her 20% tip.

This is a great diner. I've been to many diners all across Connecticut and New Jersey, and this place has delivered great food every time. I've probably been here fifty times and not once did I feel the food was subpar. These folks know how to cook an omelette. I'm a simple guy... I almost always order the American Cheese omelette with home fries and an English muffin. And when I order that somewhere else, I am invariably disappointed. Their pancakes are also delicious. I will rue the day my kids actually eat all of theirs. Their leftovers are like my breakfast dessert. Thank you, children. The atmosphere is very nice and welcoming, the waiters and waitresses are super nice. Having a go-to diner is such a nice thing to have, and the Americana certainly fits that bill.

Typical Jersey style dinner, nothing strikes us as above and beyond. Actually we were struck by below and gross. Service was horribly slow. I mean who goes to a diner and can't get another cup of coffee during breakfast time. I had to keep asking other servers and they gave a nasty look with each pour. The cream that was served was expired and sat in the cup like a mucus ball. We will not be back and asked our hotel NOT to recommend this place.

    (1)
  • Nicole R.

Eh. The food was ok at best, and service was lacking. Those reviews that said not to expect refills? They were right. Hubby ordered a large OJ. The cup was probably 8 ounces. Makes me wonder what the small looks like? We didn't get refills on water or coffee. Sat waiting for about 30 minutes for our check. Food came out at different times. Overall, not impressed. Food was good enough though. If I'm ever back in the area, we'll find somewhere else to have breakfast (and drinks ... with refills).

Above average for diners. Quick service and good value in the specials.

The only reason I'm giving this diner two stars instead of one is because of all the other times I've gone with no problem and good food. However, tonight I went in and ordered a plain Caesar salad. Lo and behold I found some mouse poop in it. No joke, no mistaking it. The waitress took it off the menu, but didn't make a big deal to apologize or anything, which was disappointing. Maybe it was because I didn't make a big scene about it, but the manager didn't come over or anything. Sadly, I will not be returning.

The Asbury Park Press' 2012 Best of Monmouth County readers' poll rated The Americana Diner one of the "best of the best" of Monmouth County. The people who rated this place so highly must not get out much. The Americana Diner is a poor representation of a New Jersey diner. The restaurant was crowded when I recently ate lunch there on a Friday afternoon. As a result, my waitress was rushed. She wrote down my order incorrectly and then charged me for something I didn't order. Additionally, she wasn't particularly pleasant or attentive. She was busy, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. Now for the food. I ordered the Jr. Chicken Salad from the salad section of the lunch specials. I am not sure I received what I ordered, but what I got was a plate with three salad scoops- one chicken salad, one potato salad, and one cole slaw. The plate also contained some hard boiled egg and a couple strips of carrot. It was certainly under-impressive. The salads were average- nothing special. The chicken salad needed something; it was devoid of flavor. I also ordered a cup of soup for which I had to pay an extra $2.05 even though I ordered from the lunch specials. NOTE to MANAGEMENT: Other local diners give the cup of soup along with the lunch specials. Would it kill your profits to add the soup instead of over-charging $2.05?

In my opinion, it's overpriced and not that tasty. Service was okay, but they sat us in the first booth and the one waitress kept putting her arm on it over our heads. One of the men in the front ran after a customer to pay, and they already had. That was funny and awkward. lol So many other places to get fries and burger that taste like something. I don't see us ever going back.

After a nice evening of music in Red Bank, my son was jonesing for a burger, so I consulted Yelp and the Americana Diner had pretty good reviews, so we trekked south for about 4 miles. It was around 10pm on a Thursday evening, and there were perhaps a dozen customers. Service was decent, though the older woman who served us didn't seem very happy. My "healthy" turkey burger (sans bun, with cottage cheese, peach half, lettuce, tomato, olives) was the best I've ever had. Usually turkey burgers are hard and dried out, in my experience. this one was tasty and moist. The portion was above average, too. The classic burger scored an "A-" from my choosy son, largely because no raw onions were provided (I gave him mine). We got desserts - pound cake, baklava (2), and a muffin - to go so we could share with family at home. They were very good. Late dinner for two plus desserts for four came to about $31 - reasonable for the amount and quality we received.

Late night grub sesh with some friends. Everyone was happy with their choices. There was no complaints. Got the grilled salmon wrap at like 3 am. Why? I have no idea - somewhere in my mind i probably thought it was the most healthful option, too bad it came with french fries...HA! Just like other diners except i heard that elvis dines here.....i mean i saw him there!

My first Jersey/East Coast Diner! Why I was so excited by a diner, I will never know. Maybe it's the fact that we just don't have them in Southern California. If we do, they lack that air of authenticity. They look too new and the waiters are too young. Their food falls under 'American (New)' on yelp. I need a real diner. The kind that have been around forever. The ones with regulars. The ones with menus comprised mostly of deli type sandwiches and burgers. I want that. So that's what brought me here. Good enough for what I wanted. The food was average (just what I expected) but it was SOOOOO cheap! My meal was $12! Huh? A sandwich, fries and coffee for how much? Maybe I am just so used to the exuberant food prices in San Diego, but I still can't get over how cheap that meal was. The cake we ordered for dessert was stale though :( I guess it adds to that air of authenticity I wanted? lol No complaints on the coffee though. That stuff was great.

Like most diners, they aren't afraid to skimp on the salt, but the food is very good. The portions are truly gigantic. Good salads and soups. My favorite is the gyro omelet with feta cheese and grilled tomatoes.

Ate here late one night after 11 00p... food was horrible... bathrooms were filthy and service was terrible... the burger tasted like it was sitting around since lunch. We told the manager and later learned he checked the temperature of the burgers and threw a whole tray of burgers away. Gee... glad he was proactive after I ate part of my burger. Do yourself a favor, and keep on driving.

Not to be confused with the Americana Diner/Restaurant in East Windsor, THIS Americana is what a Jersey diner should be. Breakfast all day. Doesn't try to be upscale or trendy. Gigantic menu. Bright interior. Quick, no nonsense service. Gets very busy on the weekends. Has its own parking lot, but at peak hours you may have to circle a few times to get a spot.

The food is great there! Fabulous! Only thing I wish they could fix is when you order for pick up. IF they could have a separate line and automatically give a receipt with the order. Otherwise, you have to wait for them to reprint one. Otherwise, I love them!

I don't how anyone rates this diner less than 5 stars. Big portions, tasty food, excellent service, nice atmosphere and clean. This is the best diner in the area without a doubt.

We went here for breakfast. I had corned beef hash and eggs. It came out pretty good. Hash was nicely crispy just the way I ordered it. Hubby had french toast and eggs. He liked it. Daughter had the Eggs Benedict and liked it. Service was friendly and quick. Will definitely return!

  • Wendy Y.

I would come back here again for breakfast if I am back in Jersey. The diner kind of reminds me of a diner you might see on Guy Ferrari's diner show in the Food Network. But not as fancy and does not have that wow factor. Just saying it looks like a diner. I got the 2X4 (Pancakes, Ham (choice of meat), Eggs, Hashbrown) and I love their pancakes! It's not that expensive. They're quick to seat you - food time is decent (not fast but not too long). Note: There is no Biscuit & Gravy here! Total disappointment! But their pancakes makes up for it. :-)

The atmosphere of main dining room is pretty classic diner, some nice sports memorabilia and big booths that are great for family dining....I like a booth for the boys so that they're sort of contained / restrained. I've been trying become a more heathy diner, so I didn't try all the great stuff. Maybe I shouldn't be going to diners and deli's every weekend! Just a New England clam chowder and Greek salad with chicken. I know, it kills me too. Neither we're disgusting, but didn't blow me away either. The waitress was real sweet to the kids. The boys enjoyed the chicken tenders, they looked about as good as they come. Overall this was a quick and easy family dinner, but nothing notable.

Typical diner style and feel. Cheeseburger deluxe, the standard by which all diners are judged is A-OK !! Definitely ranks in the upper half of diner burgers, which for some reason all seem to have the same taste!!

  • Robert M.

You have to rate a food service establishment for what it is and this is a diner. As diners go, this place is first rate. A host seats you quickly and then you get fast, friendly service. The food is better than anyone would expect diner food to be. We go almost every Friday night for the seafood bisque, which is really something more like a chowder or something but spicy and delicious. A very big menu and very high quality. Diners should all be like this one so, on the diner scale, this rates a 5!

Affordable and plentiful breakfast. Our bill for a family of 5 was $39.00. The French Toast is thick like Texas toast, I had the corned beef hash and eggs which was pretty much standard. The pancakes were also pretty good too.

We live in Maryland and close to us diners are a joke - in my opinion, there's no a single one that is decent and is worth going to, but maybe it is because every diner I go to is compared to Americana, which sets the stake pretty high. Every time we are in the area we eat at Americana, often times several days in a row. Breakfast there is as good as it gets: pancakes are fluffy and perfect every single time, waffles are light and crunchy on the outside, eggs Benedict are really good, and according to my husband, they prepare the best pork roll around. Their coffee is a must have; never bitter and always tasty. The only "meh" thing about Americana, in my opinion, is their pastries. They used to have an awesome bakery but in the past couple of years they changed it to get their pastries from someone else, and I'm not happy with the change. Everything is beautiful, but first of all, huge to a fault, and second, not tasty. Americana had the best Napoleon a now it looks the size if a brick and tastes like nothing. Not worth the 5,000 calories that the monster packs. Not even the apple pie is that good anymore... But since I don't eat pasties anymore anyway, I still give Americana 5 stars. To me, their breakfast is as good as it gets.

OMG - the food here was so fresh and delicious! We go to diners semi-frequently and, being from NJ, have practically grown up in them. There were 3 of us and we had a breakfast entree (can't remember which one), a burger and a chicken gyro. Everything was SO good! The fries were outstanding. No complaints about the service. For some reason, I left with an impression that the lights were really bright--I don't know, something was off in that regard. Give it a try. After many disappointing or just plain mediocre diner food lately, I just loved the food here.

Rates right up there with the best diners in central Jersey, although the service is casual. Their specials, many of which appear to be scratch-made with care and attention, have been very good when sampled. There is an Americana diner in the Princeton area (E. Windsor, I believe) which isn't anywhere near this good. The extensive menu and equally extensive chrome trim are a part of the diner genre; they just taste better here!

This place is great for families traveling. Cool retro-50s decor makes for a fun atmosphere. Clean facilites, courteous service. I ordered a simple breakfast and the food was fine. Not spectacular. Cookie cutter... which would serve a traveling family well. If you're looking for something special or original, this is not the place. Good parking. Accessible.

Good customer service. Not pricey, so you can have a breakfast around 5 bucks.

Sweet waitress, amazing pancakes (seriously just a side order and I was dead from buttermilk goodness) and some of my favorite eggs benedict. Dying to go again!!!

Hello Pancakes, have you met butter and syrup? Once these three ingredients married on my plate I was happier than Santa in a Cookie factory! Sunday morning at the diner is as important as making it to church, ok in some cases dare I say it's even more important than going to church! The Americana Diner is just like what you'd see in the movies. It's got the aluminum looking exterior and fluffy plastic booths on the interior. I'm learning the average weight for a diner menu is in the vicinity of at least a pound and a half, The Americana is no exception. I ordered a 2 x 4 - 2 eggs, home fries, 2 sausage links and 2 pancakes. I also opted for a side of English muffin (i like to break my yolks over it). I am not a fan of breakfast meats, but these sausages were GOOOD! The pancakes phenomenal! The only thing I felt fifty fifty over were the potatoes, had they kept warm longer or been a little more cooked I may have devoured them, in this case however I only took a few bites. The service at diners, I'm learning is pretty good. The people are nice and efficient but not overly friendly. They kind of just let you eat and go, I don't mind that too much especially when I'm running off to the beach to sleep off all the breakfasty goodness I just ate. Breakfast accomplished Americana, thanks!

A reliable choice for astonishingly fresh, delicious homemade food. I recommend the broiled salmon and garlic escarole!

I ate breakfast in here one morning - I could not believe the wait for a table! I figured I must be onto something if the locals come out in force for diner food! The outside of the diner is very retro - the place has a stainless steel finish to it - feels like a bit of diner-dom from ancient days of yore! I finally got a table - the place was really busy and the place appeared to be a bit understaffed wait staff-wise. When I finally got the attention of a waitress - I ordered the Gyro omelet. First time I've come across gyro meat in an omelet. Turned out to be really good! Paired with some home fries and strong coffee and it was a quality diner experience!

This is probably the only reason I'm proud to say I'm from New Jersey. I know I've been reviewing a lot of Waffle Houses because I hit the road a lot while I was in college, but those breakfast food chains are just poor imitations of the classic Jersey diner. And the Americana Diner is the paragon of Jersey diner. I've never been disappointed when I go here (which isn't nearly enough). I highly recommend their breakfast specials -- they're a steal. 2 eggs of your choice, coffee/tea AND juice, toast, homefries all for under $4! Add a meat to the platter and it's still under $6! The portions are ginormous for the price. The service is just top notch. The establishment is retro in design but slick and clean. Come here for a good meal and to get an idea of what the REAL Jersey Shore is like, not what MTV has been telling you.

yes, this indeed, is one of the best diners i've been to, in most recent memory. this is how a diner should look like, bright, a bit gaudy. the four of us friends enjoyed what we had here during early dinner time; i had large greek salad, several cups of coffee, stuffed mushrooms (greek style), & those others shared me by my friends from their plates. it's a mini-feast! it was simply filling! great friendly service, too!

As diners go Americana is top of the heap. They have a huge menu. The portions are extremely generous and fairly priced. The service was perfect. The decor is really just fun. It's very brightly colored and well lit with lots of Yankees paraphanalia decorating the walls. I was glad we made this stop after going to the movies in Red Bank.

Classic diner fare and great quality, just once in my life I'd like my toast with no butter when i ask for toast with NO BUTTER, that aside this place is like every other Diner. Great at any time of day.

Today I went to the Americana Diner in Little Silver, New Jersey with my brother. We had two eggs over easy, $3.95 on the menu, and a spinach and feta omelette $7.95. And $.50 for egg whites. I had a diet coke, and the bill was $2.00 more than we expected, so my brother went up to the register and asked the cashier why. He doesn't care about the money he cares about the discrepancy between advertised prices and what he was billed. The cashier called over the waitress, who said we both ordered lettuce and tomato instead of toast. The manager then appeared, and told us there was an extra charge for lettuce and tomato. My brother, a successful retired photographer, real estate investor, and now middle school teacher (giving back), said it wasn't stated on the menu and the waitress didn't tell us. The manager flipped the six-page menu all the way through the breakfast part, the lunch part, and the dinner part. At the end of the menu, it said: no substitutions. No substitutions on that page, when "egg whites avaiable $.50 was clearly listed with the omelettes? Defending the indefensible? My brother pointed out that "no substitutions" is not the same as "lettuce and tomato $1.00 extra." The manager replied, "don't get rude, I am taking it off." it never dawned on him to say, "good point, we will tell our waitresses to tell that to people," or "when we reprint the menu, we will fix that." instead. He said, with heavy irony, "have a nice day." Up until then, I was pretty disengaged, but his tone finally swayed me. "you don't really give a fig," I said, using the other word you shouldn't use in blogs. And out the door we went. My brother told me later that he gave the waitress a $5.00 tip on the $10.00 check. "It wasn't really her fault," he said. Food doesn't matter if attitude sucks.

This remains our go-to place when we're visiting our grand kids. We visit the area for at least a week, twice a year (some years three times) for the past six years. We eat at the Americana at least three or four times during those visits. My son and his family eat there about two or three times a month. Never had any service issues of any kind. In fact they're very accommodating to special requests we make on behalf of the kids.

Silver Diner, Hollywood Diner, they want to be Americana Diner. What composes of all the restaurants in Jersey? Pizza places, Japanese Hibachi/Sushi restaurants, and your classic American diners. You can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner all the same time here. With a menu that would take years for you to finish if you chose to eat 1 different dish everyday. Had the pot roast sandwich special. Nothing special, but the service was fantastic. Everything you would expect from a diner.

Best diner in the area. The menu is like reading Huck Finn...it's like two hundred pages and covers almost every cooking style out there. The staff have always been very attentive and professional, and the food is delicious, quick, and served in generous portions. Definitely worth it.

Good daily specials. Stopped in for lunch and had the fish and chips. Very good. Always a crowd in this diner. You can have counter service if you need the feel of an old time Jersey Diner.

This is the go-to diner in the area. If you aren't from Jersey, wait until you're bored and hungry with friends at 11pm and then go here and order... whatever meal you're in the mood for, cause diner menus are like that. Or go here any other time. I'm a fan of their breakfast items. Burgers/wraps/sandwiches are all good too. The food is good for a diner. Prices are a little high, but that's normal these days. The manager always comes and greets me and my bro, which is heartwarming.

Best Diner in Monmouth County. They have the best Matzo ball soup, french toast and breakfast. They give you huge portions and a friendly smile. It can be a bit pricey but its good quality. My favorite is the french toast, they use the Challah bread and egg to make the yummiest tasting french toast. They have a huge menu, as diners usually do and everything tastes fresh. Whatever you desire, Americana will have it. They have a lot of booths, plasma tvs and the usual counter service. It does get pretty crowded in here, but its worth the wait. Enjoy Jersey finest diner!!!

Pretty good diner. Pancakes are delicious, I think they put vanilla in the batter or something. Really great. Pretty typical NJ Diner. Wait staff can be hit-or-miss, but food is consistently palatable.
