Hate it when reality sets in upon a local establishment that had something special to offer and then is forced dumb down the menu do to local economical restraints. Heartsone has taken a step back. The once interesting menu is now BBQ focused. The selection of bourbon has been diminished to just a handful of usual basics. There is however a magnificently big beautiful oval wooden bar in the middle of the dining room. The new menu of course comes with more affordable prices. The portions are sizeable, yes the value is there even if the quality has slipped. The pizza is still good and nicely thin crusted right from their brick oven. Chicken to ribs to brisket fill the menu along with the unique BBQ sauce which is kinda tangy. Only one or two steak options which I find strange for a joint like this. My NY strip was just OK. The staff quite attentive and friendly. Clean with a pleasant home town look and feel. BBQ at good prices with daily specials along with happy hour every day from 4pm to 6 pm. Half price apps every happy hour is a nice touch along with $3 home brewed craft beer options. So they took a step back, still a decent bite and brew bar/restaurant in a area that offers minimal options close by.

Unfortunately, need to update review. Returned twice since the great first visit, and not great results. First revisit, ordered one of the specials - Shepherd's Pie. Server came back and advised the mashed potatoes were not ready yet. Offered to substitute roasted potatoes or french fries (?). OK, let's try the roasted. Not a good substitution, and did not enjoy the meaty filling. It was overwhelmed with a powerful spice (thyme?). Second revisit, ordered one of their home brews, described as "almost a porter". Not good. Seemed watery, like it had been poured in a glass that was heavily iced on the inside, and virtually no carbonation or head. Manchurian cauliflower was unique and tasty, with the minor application of a bit of salt. Mrs. I. enjoyed the Double Dog. I tried the sliced steak sandwich that Mrs. I had enjoyed so much on our first visit (and I had sampled), and it just didn't cut it - steak was overcooked, and the béchamel sauce seemed lacking in taste. This was a real disappointment. French fries served with both sandwiches were very good. Service is still enthusiastic and timely. Everyone is so friendly. Might be a good idea to serve drinks on coasters, to avoid flooding the table. They still need a beer menu, so the server doesn't have to run and check with the bar. But the food and home brew seem to be very "hit of miss".

2 Appetizers, mine was good, my wife's sucked. Wings which might have been good had they not been grossly overcooked were served with Kraft (or Shop Rite) quality dipping sauces. My shrimp and sweet sausage was pretty good though. The new condensed menu eliminated a few of our favorites. Joined the brew club some time ago....I guess there isn't one. Never heard back. They made a really nice IPA.....evidently couldn't make it twice, it's gone after saying for a couple of weeks that it wasn't ready yet. They had 1 good batch of stout but couldn't replicate that either and there's no Guinness. Sooooo...I guess we're off to greener pastures, still searching for the new hangout....been searching since Pop-Pop Dugan's in Englishtown closed.

Went here to try something different. The bar was very nice, but the tables were too close to the bar. Wanted some light fare and ordered wings and a sausage sandwich When I took the first bite I knew something was wrong. When I opened up the sandwich the sausage was black, I mean burnt How does a kitchen serve this to there customers My friend ordered wings. They were pink inside We'll they will never see us again. They need quality control, and that's up to management.

We've had company parties here and everyone was very happy. Food was great and so was the service. We'll be back!

I have to say after eating at and reviewing this place once before and not having such great service, I did not think I would be back again (see my previous review). My husband and I decided to give it another shot and needless to say we were pleasantly surprised! As I stated previously the food is great (I even adjusted my previous review from 1 star to 3 to reflect that) I love all the different types of empanadas they sometimes have on special and the pizza is AMAZING. The handmade pretzels are awesome and the service has improved GREATLY since last year. I must also say the girls tending bar are fantastic. Very attentive and friendly and a great asset to the staff. We will definitely be back again!

The only reason I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars is because the first time I came the bar food was not bad, and the home-brew was pretty good. I would have probably gave it 4 stars for that visit. However, today we decided to try a pizza and buffalo wings and it was pretty bad. The wings did not come with any blue cheese and were very chewy and salty. They seemed to have been sitting around for a while. They did not have that good tasting buffalo wing sauce you would expect from any local dive. The pizza looked dehydrated and was extra salty. There was just a thin film of sauce on top and the cheese was nearly non existent. I really wanted to like this place and have it as my local go to spot when I was in the mood for some greasy dive food, but unfortunatley, I will probably never give them a second chance. It sucks because the owner was a really nice guy, but the food was just not palatable today. I say skip this place.

Ya know, I was going to save my review for when I come back to Hearthstone. Sadly, I live pretty far away. Not too far, but far enough to the point of where I probably wouldn't make a regular trek out of coming here, but I also wouldn't advise against it. I can't exactly put my finger on what was so good about this place. I think it's maybe the fact that they're not trying to be something they're not. At the end of the day, you are getting hearty, American comfort food for a relatively cheap price tag, with personable servers and it just feels completely right. Not a hard concept, I know, but hard enough to the point of where you just don't get that feeling as much nowadays. From the moment we walked through the door, the hostess was joking with us and practically threw a parade in our honor when we had said this was our first time there. The main reason I decided to take the ride was due to learning that they brew their own beer. They had two beers on tap and I can't say I loved them, but I also can't say they were bad and I give them a ton of credit for even offering home brewed beer along with a solid craft draft selection. Don't even get me started on the food. The bacon burger with bechamel that was cooked to a perfect medium rare? It never occurred to me in my life that a burger with bechamel would be so good. The pizza also proved to be on point as were the accompanying fries with my burger. It kills me that I don't live closer because I could see this being a regular hang out spot if I was even 10 mins closer. Just the kind of place where the food is good and you feel like part of the family in no time at all.

We have been here three times in the past 3 or 4 months. Last week my family of four came here for dinner, we really like BBQ. I don't often eat pasta but the last time I had tried my daughters Mac and Cheese (side order), which is actually mac and cheese-bechamel. Oh boy, I find it tough to believe that they even let this out of the kitchen last week. It was horrible, no taste of cheese AT ALL (although I know there had to be some in there), it was the consistency of water and the pasta was mushy. Come on folks, you know you have problems when you can't get the simplest of things like pasta cooked correctly. The owner sat us and served us. Pleasant but kept saying "nice to meet you" and we have been here before & we have seen him, but I guess he never noticed us. Another interesting, really, seriously strange thing is, my husband (2 times ago) ordered a top shelf long island iced tea. Again, a no brainer until the waitress came back and let us know that it would cost $18.00. Last week we also (smiled and) commented that we noticed they 'rearranged their digs'. They switched their bank of booths with their table seating area. The owner said, "yeah we did that when we put the bar in". #SMH, are you for real? We were here one month ago & your bar was ever-present, as it was 4 months back too. Your BBQ isn't that amazing for me to blog on my own blog about it and/or recommend. Maybe better sticking to a quick lunch and beer if you drink it.

One of the cleanest restaurants I think I've been to. I have driven past this place hundreds of times never thought to stop in but I'm glad I did. My niece and I came for lunch and I have to say that I'm happy I did. I will definitely be back. Have to mention Steve our server was beyond friendly and helpful, I'm excited about this little place....thanx Steve we will be back!!

Place is very inconsistent. I want to try to like it and I like what the owner is trying to make of the place but it needs much work. The food isn't bad but like I said is not consistent. Sometimes over/undercooked and your waiting forever for stuff and no attention whatsoever. I've tried it about three times but not worth giving them your money in my opinion.

Fourth time's a charm! Those of you who read my reviews know I am a big supporter of local businesses, and will always dole out a fair and honest review regardless of how good or bad the experience ends up being. Things were a mixed bag the last time I brought friends out to the Hearthstone Grill for dinner, but I am happy to say we came back tonight and everything was executed perfectly. Several weeks back, the owner/manager wrote me a note acknowledging the issues we experienced in our previous visit, and welcomed us back with a pledge to act on our feedback -- no strings attached. Having seen us walk in, he reintroduced himself with a friendly handshake and was quick to tell me that I would have no issues ordering bourbon tonight. (He was right.) It really says something good about a place that remembers its customers, remembers their feedback, and then genuinely tries to make sure they have the best time possible when they return. I appreciate that immensely. And a good time was indeed had by all. Bourbon on the rocks - check. That amazing, handed-down-by-god-himself bubbling cauldron of melted provolone cheese - check. Those awesome little pretzel nuggets with the "magic" sauce - check. Margarita pizza - check. Loaded cheesesteak - check. My 5 year-old daughter was thrilled that she could concoct her favorite sandwich -- a beef burger slider topped with bacon and french fries, and dipped in ketchup and sour cream. Yep, gross. She's a total freakshow like that. But like me, she likes what likes, and when she gets what she likes, she's happy. And when she's happy, I'm happy, and yes, I'll take another bourbon please. Good times. As it was a Wednesday evening, there was live music in the form of a man and his guitar. He was excellent, and it really complemented an already cozy mood made cozier by that lovely wood-burning fire situated in the middle of the restaurant. The real highlight of the night was a surprise tasting we got to do at the end of our meal: beer gelato. Oh, I'm not really doing it justice calling it "beer gelato," as one was made from a delicious, light, homemade brew, and the other was decidedly heavier, made from another beer that I can't remember nor would be able to pronounce if I could remember it. Do you like cold beer? I mean, do you like really, really, really cold beer? Then you will like this beer gelato. It was a little strange, to be sure, but it tasted great. I highly recommend trying it if it makes another appearance. So if you're in the area and you haven't been over to the Hearthstone, definitely pop in, try out the menu, and show these guys some support. One thing is for sure - if something isn't to your liking, they want to know and they want to make it better. That's the kind of place that deserves my business. Keep up the good work, boys and girls.

Great local place. They make their own beers and have many unique ones. They also recently added a new bar which truly makes the place great. The staff is very friendly, and the owner is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. The food is also unique. They have a wood burning stove that enhances the flavor of all their food. Not only do they have great food, but they have something for everyone. Cheap burgers and wraps, and more expensive filet mignon. They truly have something for everyone. Check their website for their weekly events and live music!

It was not my plan to eat here--heck, I didn't even know the place existed--but my intended dining destination was a bit more divey than I had expected and, with the weather turning foul, I didn't want to drive around. Oh happy accident! I know some of my trusted Yelpers have had some mixed results here, but I kept it really simple--beer, pizza and burgers--and we had a great time. The staff is enthusiastically engaging, almost hoping to find something wrong so they can do something to make you happy. That attitude is always appreciated, and worked in their favor on this evening. We started with skewers of chicken, steak, shrimp and potato, a festive dish accompanied by tasty dipping sauces (the Hearthstone Sauce is a nicely spicy BBQ mix that I recommend). We split a pizza--sausage, mushroom and homemade mozzarella--and a Hearthstone cheeseburger. The pizza was excellent, and it was a good choice to go with the homemade cheese. They also supplied a dish of their Sunday Gravy--a classic Italian meat sauce filled with chunks of sausage and, I suppose, veal. It was superb. The burger was also great. My only gripe is that they undercooked the meat. I asked for medium rare and got something that mooed back at me. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it--I used to eat rare all the time and still enjoy it when I'm in a meat mood--but I can assure you that others may be not as flexible. I opted for their homebrew beers, first a surprisingly light ale that appears strong because of its color, but is more akin to a Coors light in body. For round 2 I went with their Russian-inspired brew that was far more interesting. In summary, this is a great local place that, because it's completely out of the way, should get more attention from the locals. I know they have my attention.

Came here for some drinks and dinner with a couple friends. They had a great beer selection with some of their own stuff that was delicious. Their whiskey and wine selections are rock solid and the prices on everything you cant beat. Food was fantastic and came out pretty quick. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good bar environment with some friends. Has a very layed back feel and a little something for everyone.

I discovered this hidden gem a couple weeks ago and have stopped in three times now. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The staff and Mark are friendly and attentive. The Smoked Jalapeno Hummus is made in house with the perfect amount of spice and served with tortilla chips. I've also had a juicy burger cooked medium rare and it was served just as ordered. Tonight I had Pulled Pork Empanadas that were on the special menu and a Jerk Chicken Kebab. There is a extensive selection of different types of kebabs. The empanadas were probably the best I have had. The pork had just the right amount of sauce and the shell was crisp and not greasy as empanadas tend to be. The jerk chicken was just as delicious, tender, charcoal grilled , and seasoned with a dry rub. I look forward to my return and will be trying a fish dish. I don't think it will be a disappointment.

Awful . I cannot fathom what people would find worth eating. I would never return nor recommend. It was easily my worst dining experience in years!! We ordered tater tots appetizer, we received fries. We asked for pretzel appetizer, you were out. The salads which were part of our entrees never arrived. My cavatappi with sausage and Sunday gravy (sauce) wouldn't be served in my daughter's high school cafeteria. And my daughter's Shepherds Pie resembled dog food. After waiting more than 30 minutes to settle the check , I sent my family to wait in the car, hoping to get the servers attention so we could leave!

My wife and I went here for lunch on one of our date lunch days (i.e. when the kids are in school). I always wanted to go here based on the fact that they brew their own beer and pull their own fresh mozzarella. I must say after reading mixed reviews and one of my colleagues who went here (and did no like it), I was genuinely wowed! The Oat Meal Stout was really good! Even my wife (who is very picky about beer) like it. We ordered the Pretzel bites with magic sauce, but they were out of it. So we got the bang bang shrimp and it was really awesome. It was a bit on the spicy side, but my wife who loves anything spicy enjoyed it. We ordered the plain pie which was really good. Hearty sauce and fresh mozz with chiffonade of basil. My wife ordered a couple of kabobs - jerk chicken and shrimp, and they were also awesome! I will be coming back here on my date days and bring the kids also somedays. Looking forward to warmer weather and lazing around drinking beer and eating yummy food!

I wanted to love this place and expected to love it based on word of mouth. I don't know if I came on an off night, but I was somewhat disappointed. Party of 2 ordered a cup of French onion soup and caprice salad. They claim the mozzarella is made there, which was partly why we ordered it. This salad was not good, the roasted peppers were fizzy like they were going bad. We shared a burger with fries that was fairly decent, and actual cooked medium rare as asked (lots of places overcook burgers). The service was inconsistent, the server either came over too much to check on us when we were eating and didn't need her, or didn't come over when we wanted to leave and needed her to give us our check. With so many restaurants out there to try, I don't know that I will be back.

The pizza was delicious and cooked in a wood fired oven. The crust was perfect and served with some sunday sauce to dip the crust when you get to the end. :) The wings were cooked over a wood grill and had a perfect amount of wood flavor to them. I also love that they serve some a nice homebrew to accompany the meal. Try this place. You should be pleased. Can't wait for the next time - I am going to try the BBQ pizza.

Hearthstone Grill is a small restaurant and bar in Jamesburg. The menu is eclectic in nature and certainly offers a wide range of meals. There is a projector screen set up for sports TV. Beautiful dessert case upon entrance which is a clever ploy to get you to order their desserts. I dined here with a group of co-workers and we were happy to use the 15% off coupon offered in the local paper. I had a glass of their red house wine. For dinner, I had the pork chop with asparagus and mac and cheese as my sides. I chose the smaller chop which was plenty with the large sides. All were enjoyable but the asparugus was my favorite. It was delicious and perfectly cooked on their "hearthstone." I was impressed by the service and we were also chatted up by the owner, main host and a chef during our visit. Excellent pricing. I will definitely return.

Well we stopped in for pizza tonight and wasn't disappointed. Delicious pie. Had half garlic and onions for me and half mushrooms and olives for my better half. Great pizza like I said. As to another poster who commented on the service. The couple of times we've been there has been nothing but great, he must have caught them at a bad time. I suggest he definitely try them again.

This place is amazing. Everything I tried here is excellent. Key here is everything is cooked in their wood building grill. Try the satellite appetizers To whet your appetite. Also make sure to try a pizza.

Stopped by because it was conveniently located from the turnpike and had outdoor seating. They were very accommodating and had a great beer selection. The food was also very good, one of the best pizzas I have had in a while. Would recommend and stop by again.

Went for dinner last night. It was my second time there and it was a disaster. We waited 10 minutes after being seated before a server came to take our drink and dinner order. She never brought the drinks. We got our appetizer and it was good, but then after considerable waiting we got our main course instead of our salads which were supposed to be served beforehand. We complained to management as we no longer wanted the salads after the fact so we got a 50% discount on the meal as we only were served 50% of it. Then the waitress comes with my husband's drink at last and says it's on me. I will most likely go back because I really like the atmosphere but hope they get rid of the poor wait staff

Bad. Really bad. I ordered the ribs with mashed potatoes and gravy, with mac and cheese. First off, the ribs were from last week and appeared to be reheated in a microwave. TOUGHER than the hickory wood they apparently smoked it with. Next were the sides. Mashed potatoes had very little gravy and were cold. Mac and cheese although good tasting, was also cold. I really wanted to like this place but with this experience, i wont be back. Especially after i told the waitress and she did nothing. a twenty dollar meal wasted.

We went with my inlaws on a cold night and the warmth from the fire felt nice. Our waitress was mostly attentive and helpful and the place felt cozy. Except for the loud party sitting nearby. We got the pretzel bites with magic sauce which were enjoyed. Hubby had a bacon mushroom burger that came out the way he ordered it the first time (that is a big deal!): he enjoyed the slightly smoky taste with crisp bacon and shrooms. I had the garlic chicken with veggies and fries; enjoyed the side salad w magic dressing of honey dijon and basil. I don't normally order fries but they were good. Others had kebabs and a sandwich. Only complaint was sandwich came out about 10 minutes after the rest of the food. The desserts looked good and so did the beer list on chalkboard - maybe next time.

Ryan, the bartender, was great!! He was really knowledgable of the beers on tap along with the food menu. We had the bang bang shrimp and pretzels as appetizers - magic sauce OMG! The fish tacos were amazing and super filling and my husband had the turkey blt which was great also! We'll definitely be back - soon!!

Came here on a Tuesday night to check out the long trail they were featuring along with their usual in house craft beers. We were greeted warmly by Tom. He described all the beers available that night and was fun to chat with about beer in general. We got delicious pretzels with magic sauce to start.. The sauce is tasty! Food was good.. A little slow coming out.. (service in general was on the slow side).. But I came to eat and relax.. So I wasn't in a hurry. Jerk pie was spicy.. But good. The cole slaw gave it to nice sweetness to balance the spicy. Hearthstone sliders were great... I may just get the full size burger next time. The woodfire grill really brings out the flavor in the beef. Beer flights.. The portions were on the small side.. I've had flights with much bigger glasses... So you'll definitely need another pint or two for the rest of your meal. Plenty of cupcakes to choose from... My friend and I went with the cannoli and pistachio and liked them both. Definitely coming back with the husband. The service was friendly... Coming back on Tuesdays (i think they have special beers on tap on Tuesdays).. This time they featured long trail (took home a growler.. The limbo ipa was awesome if you're a fan of ipas)

There is something about hearthstone's pizza crust that I just love. Chewy, moist and very tasty. There is always a few homemade beers on tap, and all the pizza toppings are spectacular. Margarita is my favorite.

Great food and the service staff really try to earn your trust! The food is really over the top... gotta try their wings and wood fired pizzas if you go- like no other! Our whole family has established favorites from burgers to gourmet cheese steak sandwiches. Craft beers and just a great bar area too... Go when you have time- good food made to order will need a fair amount of time. But the wings and beers will be a good appetizer while you wait!

Hey Mark. First off do you even know what gluten free is?! You serve pizza, pretzels, macaroni and cheese... None of which is served at my place, nearly an hour away from your establishment. How in any stretch of the word am I direct competition when we serve nothing alike? Are you saying every other bad review is from a troll or are you just going to man up and admit that while your food may be good - and I'm not taking that away from you, it is - your service is an atrocity. I saw an old friend there the other night when I went and he echoed the same gripes but his food took an hour and a half to come out. Man up to your mistakes. Don't cry wolf because I happen to have a restaurant of my own nowhere near your place and nothing even close to what you serve.

I had high hopes for this place, as many owners have come and gone from this location. The food is actually pretty good, but the killer is the service. It's generally very slow, and they are not attentive. They have local beers on tap, which sounds great, but it's always flat. I've given this place quite a few chances, as I love to support local businesses. The owner is actually a very nice guy, but he is just too nice to his employees, and he seems to be oblivious to the fact that his employees just don't have his best interests at heart. To that end, perhaps he is just hiring the wrong people. Not sure if its a lack of organization that could really turn it around for this place. I hope they can get it together, as there is some real potential here if nurtured properly.

When I ate my food my first thought was "man I hope this place stays open for years and years!" Seriously the best jerk chicken and shrimp kabobs I have ever had. Me and my bf just ordered a ton of kabobs and some sides. And it was plenty! I cannot wait to come back! It's a cute towny restaurant, with live music, and they brew their own beers. The growlers are the best bang for your buck :) The food is so incredible, you won't know what to eat first! AND they have cupcakes. Amazing.

Oh where do I start. Let us start with the fact that they do not have an American whiskey in the place. Are you kidding me? Not even Makers Mark? They were also out of half the beers on the menu. Full bar my Ash. I had the wedge salad with blue cheese dressing. It was OK but how could you REALLY screw that up? Next up was the special...a beef potpie. You would think this would be beef chunks, peas, carrots, potatoes and a light flaky crust. Nope. It looked and tasted like dog food. My friend ordered salmon and we could not identify the piece of fish that showed up on that plate. I was told the pizza and burgers are good here so I may give it another shot with the guys but no more date nights here.

I came with coworkers for an dinner here on a Thursday night. We were seated right away and there were only about 10 other people dining in the restaurant. To the right of the entrance is a small bar equipped with different wines, beer and liquor. There is also a giant projection screen that was showing ESPN. To begin our meal, the waitress brought out small pretzel bites paired with their "magic sauce" (honey/dijon/basil). The sauce is magical because one second it's there and the next second it is devoured. I ordered a small plain pie with mozzarella cheese since Hearthstone features a brick oven. The pizza was cooked to perfection and it was so good that, to my friends' dismay, I didn't want to share. I also ordered a side salad with "magic sauce" dressing (I couldn't resist). Other friends ordered the filet cheesesteak, pork chop with mac and cheese and a chicken sandwich and all were very happy with their orders. Desserts are available but I do not think they are made in house. A friend ordered the cannoli cupcake which was good but too sweet for me. The service was great! Our waitress was very attentive and nice. The manager or owner even came over to our table during our meal to ask us about our experience. I will definitely be back to dine at Hearthstone Grill!

Went there tonight for dinner and I encountered the most laziest server ever. I think the server walked by my table 7 times without asking our table for refills, napkins, etc. What made it worse was the server only had 3 tables. Another server had to come over and help our server because our server was busy talking in the kitchen. Of course, my wife tipped the second server rather than the first. The food was not cooked all of the way through, (cheese not melted on the hamburgers, soggy cold french fries, and the quality was mediocre. I guess that had to do with the long wait time for the food. I rarely patronize chain restaurants, because I know the local guy would make a better meal than a chain resturant, but I was wrong on this occasion.

Fantastic place, we live right around the corner and never knew about it. The satelitte special appetizer (kabobs of shrimp, pork, chicken and beef) was incredible! Their grilling technique is to phenominal. Wood oven pizza was fantastic, We had an AMAZING North Carolina BBQ pizza with smoked pork, fresh mozz, North Carolina BBQ sauce and PICKLES. You have to try it to believe how good it is. My daughter got the smoked BBQ chicken which was also amazing. Tender with a great smokey flavor. All of the sauces were great (both regular bbq, NC bbq and thier Magic sauce)! The owner is friendly and welcoming. This place is here for a long time. Its a great place and we will definiately be back again!

Amazing food! Wonderful staff everything made fresh to order had the smoked boneless jerk chicken thigh sandwich and had pork loin BBQ sandwich full of flavor! The owner was really nice he was giving a pizza class while we were there to the staff. Very impressed! This will now become one of our regular places to eat!

This place is hit or miss. I've had good experiences, and I've had bad. The menu is ever changing... each time I go there it seems like they have a different menu. The food is decent but the service is usually painfully slow when the place is not busy at all. I can't imagine on a busy night. I always enjoyed their pizza but the last time I had it, something was off. We asked for fresh mozzarella but it definitely seemed like shredded packaged cheese rather than fresh. I really wanted to like this place but it's hard when there is no consistency with the food. I will give it another chance in the future and I hope it's better than my past experiences.

Had dinner there with friends. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Dinner was awesome beginning with wings served with an accompaniment of homemade sauces on the side for dipping and pizza baked to perfection. Lots more goody stuff on the menu. A feast for the palette for sure.

Solid place. Good wings, good pizza. Probably best bar food between here and Barnacle Bills..

This place was a pleasant surprise when we stopped here for lunch. Compared to other restaurants in the area Hearthstone deserves 5 stars, but compared to the real world it is average at best. Having said that our server did a fine job, the food was good, and I would gladly eat here again. The atmosphere needs some work. A few thoughtful touches would make this place feel more like a restaurant instead of a diner. I am reading the other reviews and I completely understand the enthusiasm, because you have to travel at least 20 miles to find a good restaurant in this part of NJ.

Stopped in on a slow Sunday afternoon. The bland exterior masks a very nice set up inside. There is a small standing bar/waiting area (it's not a 'bar') to the right when you walk in, the host stand and brick oven straight ahead, and to the left a two room dining area. Decor is clean and inviting. Classy but not pretentious. I had a small pizza and the hot wings. Pizza was better than expected. A bit too much cheese for me but it was a light, fresh mozzarella with a tangy sauce and fresh basil. Crust was delicious - not cracker thin but not a mushy bread either. Wings yummy and not too greasy with a good medium heat. The menu is split nicely between the $10 plate and the $20 plate making it a great place for a semi-casual lunch or kinda-classy date. One complaint? Driving by it's really hard to tell if the place is actually open! The signs are very subdued.

Good food, poor service. -1st dine-in visit: we asked our server to put in an order to go (for family members at home) while we at our food at the restaurant. When it was time to leave the server stated she was just putting in our "to-go" order, because she "didn't want it to get cold." We could not wait for the order to be finished and thus my husband had to go home and then come back to pick up the order. When he came back to pick up our order, there was no apology. It was VERY frustrating considering we explained our circumstances and why we needed to the food to be ready when we needed to leave. -2nd dine-in experience: Husband and I went for dinner on Valentines day. We ordered the PreFix meal that included salad, soup, appetizer, dinner, dessert. We had approximately a little over an hour to eat dinner. In 45min of sitting, we received ONLY our salad. Our waitress stated they were out of the soup we wanted. We left the restaurant after an hour, having only ate the salad. My husband came back for the remainder of the meal and they were also out of the dessert. We like the food but are very UNIMPRESSED with the dine-in experience.

Please don't be fooled like I was. We drive out of our way to get to this place, and I wish we hadn't. Though the staff was nice, the food was undercooked (raw chicken), overpriced, and not very flavorful. We had a few kabobs and a pizza...even the pizza (which is hard to mess up) wasn't very good.

I am a local and have been here many times. They had a bit of a rocky start when they opened last summer and you may still experience a minor hiccup here and there but they have really gotten their act together. The owner is really nice and very knowledgable about food and beers. If you're into it, he will educate you on the beers he has available and point out his favorites. The food is great and I almost always get a nice server, which cannot be said for any of the chain restaurants. The owner has lots of good ideas for specials and continues to innovate every time we go. Try the baked cheese dip appetizer. It has fire roasted jalapeños in it and is awesome! They also have new craft bottled beers every week in addition to the selection of main stream beers and in-house brews to choose from. Great addition to Jamesburg!

Our group of 8 pounced on this place for a quick lunch, unannounced, between segments of a photographer's seminar. Awesome service...they ushered us right in, menus at the ready, orders were taken and good delivered fresh, hot and in a timely manner. Everyone who works here takes real pride in the food, its taste, and the manner of presentation. Great place for a delicious speedy lunch or a more casual dinner. Awesome homemade food with fresh ingredients. The Sunday gravy (marinara sauce) is to-die-for fresh! The crispy, artisan, thin crust, pizza, fresh shredded mozzarella, mushrooms and roasted red peppers...A-ma-zing!!! Comes with a side of Sunday Gravy...crazy good! I topped my meal off with their delicious homemade oversized pistachio...yup, mind blowing goodness. We were well taken care of, fed and watered and out in time for the second half of our seminar. Glad I found this place on Yelp! Thank you, Hearth Stone!

Thank you, Yelpers, for recommending Hearthstone! I dragged the hubs up to Jamesburg (anything out of a 5-mile radius is "dragging") to try it out after reading some great reviews. I'm all about wood-fired, smoked, or grilled anything, but throw in craft beef & I'm in heaven! I was excited when we pulled in the lot & saw the smoker. He was excited as soon as he opened the menu... pizza, burgers, wings, & meats... it's like it was written just for him. When the pretzel bites came out he really knew I made a great choice. Score 1 for wifey! The servers are very friendly and really seem to love working there. We decided on trying a little bit of everything. We got naked wings, which were smokey & delicious on their own. Our server brought out all the sauces to try and my fave was the Carolina BBQ. We also got a small (made in house) fresh mozz pie. It was also delicious... really thin crisp crust, flavorful, bold sauce, & just enough smokey flavor from the wood oven. Hubs got a cheeseburger & I got the kebab special for an entree with a side of chili cheese fries. The kebabs are buy 1 get 1 free this month on certain days, so I got jerk chicken, pork, shrimp, & steak. The jerk chicken was by far my favorite. It was spicy, but in the best way. :) The shrimp were good, but I don't love smaller shrimp. Would love to get fewer larger shrimp than more smaller ones. I tried a bite of the burger & it was cooked perfectly & had a great smoke flavor from the Argentinian grill. We (obviously) couldn't finish everything so we were happy to have leftovers for lunch. Beer! I had a flight to start which was their two brews, Mother's Milk, & a Blue Point Toasted Lager. Their beers have nice flavor, but the red saison didn't taste anything like a saison. It was very sweet & didn't have the refreshing carbonation you'd expect from one. As a red ale, it would be ok. The other beer was pretty good. I ordered it after finishing my flight to go with my meal. I'm not going to take off a star because the point of a craft beers is experimentation... some are great, some not so much. Overall, quality of food, service & prices are all on point. We can't wait to return & hubs is hoping they can deliver lunch to his office.

Good food but the service is bad in an inexperienced way, and the kitchen cannot get any variations to the menu done correctly. First time I went, I got pizza to go but stupidly picked carmelized onions. They didn't have plain onions on the menu and I must have onions on pizza, so I got these, but they make the crust soggy, particularly on a to-go order. Second time I went, I ordered pierogis with onions to go. The menu lists them with onions and mushrooms, and I said I did not want mushrooms, just onions. I got naked pierogis. The order was also late. I got something else too, I forget what. The third time I went I stayed in person. The waitress was very well-meaning, but this was one of the most mistake-ridden and disappointing dinners I have had. I had checked the menu online and it was packed with fish, so I went hankering for blackened something (but not salmon). I was informed that they didn't do blackened, IDK if it was just that night, or always. So I started to try to think of something else to get. The waitress said there was a scallops and polenta special, so I said oooh polenta, I'll have that. I also asked for asparagus, but cooked to a crisp. I said even if they are black, that's good. And I figured I'd get the pierogis I'd wanted the other time, and try them and bring the rest home. Once again I harped on NO MUSHROOMS, and asked to have the carmelized onions cooked super well. I knew from the pizza I had ordered that I didn't think they cooked them enough. To me, carmelized means you cook them until they brown, at least. And for me, some should also have black on. I mean I think that's the definition of carmelized - it's even the name of a color. The carmelized onions on the pizza were only cooked until they just began to go clear, and there was a lot of liquid left. There were some kind of free pretzel treats brought out with a dip, they were very nice. Then I get some scallops, and was informed one had dropped and a replacement would be coming. My asparagus were pretty raw, and I said please could I get these cooked more. No sign of polenta. The onions on the pierogis were the white watery raw-ish kind. I mentioned it and the waitress kind of nodded sheepishly. Asparagus come out again, pretty raw. IDK why she even brought them over, knowing how I'd expressly said how I wanted them burned. They tried once more; raw again but I gave up asking for well done. My root beer I hated, it was too watery. I wanted to order a different drink but it was hard to get a hold of my waitress who was flying all around the place. IDK why, it wasn't that crowded. Waitress wisks by dropping a refill to my root beer unasked which is nice, only I did not like the root beer. I wanted something different. But it was like a drive-by shooting, I didn't even have time to say could you get me something different. Out comes replacement scallop. I ask if the polenta might ever show up, and then discover the wrong order was put in and until that moment I wasn't going to be getting any. So the meal gets changed to the one with polenta. Out comes the polenta and the waitress informs me she's made an executive decision about my meal which comes with a vegetable, and she's chosen carrots instead of the asparagus I could have gotten as a choice, "so I wouldn't have two of the same." Obviously I want asparagus, why give me the carrot choice? I'm paying, can I pick? I don't like their carrots much, too thickly cut and hard for my taste (but could be perfect for others). I would actually go to a restaurant and ONLY eat asparagus if they made it right. So anyway, the wait staff needs to learn to CALM THE HELL DOWN, and there needs to be some kind of visually reinforced system for the kitchen so they cook the right things. If those two things were fixed, this would be a great place. The people, although rushing around for no good reason, are very nice, and if the food is what you asked for, it's really good. They obviously WANT to give you great food and service, there just needs to be adjustments to the system. Also, it's hard to tell when they're open. They should get some huge OPEN signs.

Wow, my wife and i love dining out. We normally do the New Brunswick scene. But tonight we wanted to try something different. We decided to look up local area restaurants and found Hearthstone Grill. We read the reviews on Google and saw that there wee some really poor reviews as well as some really good reviews. we decoded to go and judge for ourselves. we got there at around 6:00pm we were promptly sat at a booth. It took a little while to put our drink order in but nothing nuts. I asked for a sample of their "Black Light" after i tasted it i wanted to know what type of beer it was, i said is it a Ale? or a lager? she said it was like Smithwicks beer. Sorry but that confused me a little. know your beer especially one that is brewed by them. I ended up ordering a Monkey fist beer and my wife had a 3 beer flight of their home brews. her flight looked so sad it should be called a plane crash. the under sized glasses weren't even filled completely. and to make matters worse they were not to our liking but that is all preference. so we order dinner we ordered a pizza, fish and chips for our daughter, a salad and a burger to go for our son, when we ordered the salad we wanted the waitress said sorry we are not serving that because we don't have cucumbers so we ordered a different one. the waitress then said don't get that type of lettuce get the spring mix so we did. dinner eventually came the pizza looked great and tasted great as well, my daughters fish and chips was also pretty good. but then the salad came... to our surprise it had cucumbers on it, hmmm i thought we couldn't have the salad we wanted because there were no cucumbers well ok, so we started to eat the salad and the mixed greens that was suggested to us was all wilted and limp= nasty ass salad. no one came to check on us until they brought us the check. NO burger for my son they forgot his food and we were not about to wait around listing to that dread full suicidal music, come on do i really wanna listen to " Loving you" by Minnie Riperton, or Michael Jackson songs from when he was 5. hopefully they go online and listen to the people and make changes. it can only make them better.

Stopped in here for dinner and a couple of brews. Limited on site brewed beer. a red ale which i had, it was pretty good, and two others, one of which was a fruity beer. Ordered some mozzarella sticks, burgers and a meatloaf, no complaints, actually food was very good. Problem was the service, we were probably there about 1.5 hrs for what was intended to be a quick dinner. There appeared to be only one waitress on duty, felt bad for her, she was hussling. Probaly actually more like a 2.5 stars

Tonight was our 33rd anniversary and my wife felt like going out for a drink and maybe just an appetizer, I suggested the Hearthstone Grill, knew nothing about it except that it was about 5 minutes from home and I knew they had pizza. Her rule of thumb was if it's not busy we're not going, we drive by and the parking lot was crowded enough, we go in and head right for the bar, grab one of the tall bar tables and wait for someone to come over. I don't think our wait was that long, my wife would beg to differ, she doesn't want to wait, I don't want to go to the bar and order, shortly Christopher comes over, very pleasant and says he'll be taking care of us and he did, very attentive but not in a way we felt pressured or hurried. He asked if we'd like to order and my wife replied that we'd rather finish our drinks first, Christopher agreed that our plan was the way to go. He was such a good server that he quickly turned my wife's mood and opinion of the Hearthstone. Aside from drinks we ordered a 14" pizza with the sweet sausage...EXCELLENT! Both the pie itself and the sausage....EXCELLENT! Then Christopher comes over with a serving of Sunday Gravy to dip the pizza in. I have no words, what is better than EXCELLENT? Sunday Gravy that's what. Outside we met Mark the owner of the Hearthstone Grill who told us that we were now friends, we told him how much we enjoyed ourselves and I said that I would have been happy with a bowl of Sunday Gravy, yes, it's that good. Mark, we'll be back, the Hearthstone Grill is an excellent addition to the Monroe Township/Jamesburg area!

Reading the menu online I thought this would be the kind of place that has interesting food, well prepared, with great beers. Time and again they came SO close but fell short. The hostess told us a story about the pizza dough being special because they "capture the wild yeast from the air". When asked about what that meant or why it was special, she wasn't sure... On the table was a "craft beer menu". There were no sizes or ABV% listings. The prices were pretty high ($8.50). I expected a nice pint of craft beer, but wound up with a warm 12 oz bottle of mediocre beer. Others in our party attempted to order mixed drinks only to find the waitress knew nothing of the available options. They are leaving A LOT of money on the table by not having a better bar. Hearthstone clearly needs a bar manager. Beers need to be served COLD and the wait staff should be able to make suggestions! Apps were good. The complimentary pretzels with "magic sauce" was awesome. The magic sauce should just come to the table with EVERYTHING. The roasted Parmesan cheese was really good. The wings were cooked well and tasted good. Edamame pot stickers were awesome! I ordered 2 more beers and found them to also be warm and served with out a glass. One came in a large can that had instructions on the back for pouring and I still had to request a glass (which was also not chilled). I ordered the 16 oz porter house, medium rare. It was cooked to perfection! It was so soft and tasted great!! This was the sweet spot of the night. The sides were okay. Cooked carrots were missing something. The Yukon Gold potatoes were very plain. Some rosemary olive oil and sea salt would have made them a comfort food home run!! One of our group had ordered the "Beef Pot Pie", it looked very disappointing. More like a beef stew in a pie crust. No peas, no carrots, very thin broth, and the beef looked like it was pre-chewed! As I was enjoying my great steak, suddenly the room temp reached about 85!!! Everyone started sweating and became less and less hungry. It got so hot we all lost our appetites!! I few minor adjustments and hearthstone would be a home run and a regular date night spot. Better bar management is key!!! Ice cold beer is a must to increase appetite! A few extra additions to the items already on the menu and this would be a sure fire hit!!!

We love this place! It's not even ten minutes away but I never knew it existed until I got the flyer in a valpak. I've been twice in the last 2 weeks and everything was great. The magic sauce is delicious, bang bang shrimp was great, and the pizza was good too. My boyfriend got the BBQ steak kabobs and said they're the best he's had since he had beef in Kansas City last year. Love that they have such a nice craft beer selection too. Bartender was really nice and let my boyfriend try both of the beers he was torn between before ordering. We'll definitely be back

Checked it out last night. Ordered the Pasta Alfredo with Chicken. Although the place looks great, the dinner was not. If you want a good pizza and a beer this is probably a good choice. To many staff personnel running around while your eating. I'll probably give it a second chance but will stick to something simple on the menu. I think the place will improve. Growing pains.

Like walking into a friends house, everyone here is super friendly! And the food has options for those looking for healthy (salads with a variety of protein options) to not so healthy (chili and cheese with tater tots). All the food was very tasty. Kids meal was a great deal and they gave her a cookie to go! I would definitely jump of nj turnpike to eat here again!!

Went to Hearthstone for the fourth time, and it confirmed my previous impressions: the food is very good, but the service is wildly inconsistent. The waiters are generally friendly, and always seem happy to help, but sometimes aren't the most attentive or proactive when it comes to refilling drinks or clearing empty dishes from the table. The kitchen also seems to get backed up when they get busy. I really want this place to succeed, because I love the food and ambience, but it's hard to really recommend until they work out the kinks in the service.

I have been driving passed this place for years so finally went with my husband for lunch on Tuesday and I gotta I wasn't really that impressed. From the outside it looks so inviting and would be all cozy inside well that's not the case this place has such potential and needs a lift me up otherwise very clean. Anyways the menu well not much of a selection so we had the french opinion soup and cheesesteak with béchamel it was good but the soup needed more cheese and we had the cheesesteak with béchamel and that I have to say was ok I believe the sauce overpowered the meat which was tough and it had a freezer burn taste to it but I salted it and it was ok the roll was so fresh and was perfect I should have gotten different cheese béchamel was on the heavy side but I did eat it all!!! It wasn't a horrible experience the ladies who work there were very nice and attentive but we will definitely come back for their pizza and beer!!

I was here with a large group for dinner and everyone seemed to enjoy the place. We had a wide variety of apps, most were great, especially the wings and the mozz sticks. I had a pizza for my main course and it was awesome. The service was good, and the owner Mark was very personable and made sure we were well taken care of. I look forward to coming back again when I'm in the area.

Love this place, I'm a local and eat here all the time. The pizzas are great, made rite there in a brick oven. They have these great free pretzel bites for while u wait. There a micro brewery and have 3 good beers now, and more on the way! This is a must stop spot.

Can't believe the reviews about this place. Went 2 times with wife and then brought kids each time hoping it would get better. Sad to say it didn't . Service was slow and unorganized and food was mediocre at best. Pizza tasted bland for kids and full meals were a disappointment .

Unassuming little place tucked in the middle of nowhere. Their pretzels with magic sauce should be a menu item. I wouldn't give something that good away for free. For an appetizer we had chicken wings. The oven gives them a really nice flavor. My wife had a plain pizza which she really liked. She made sure to grab a takeout/delivery menu. I went simple also with a BBQ burger. It's not easy to make a good burger and they did it right. My only complaint was the fries and onion rings came out cold. Guess they didn't time it right with my wife's pizza. Not a big deal. I'm being picky. Just want them to stick around so I have more local choices. So keep up the great work!

Really good food an reasonably priced. My favorite things to order are the queso dip (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) and Cesar salad. I love the hearthstone and would have given it 5 stars if their service wasn't so slow. The food is worth the wait though.

We were pleasantly surprised. The macaroni and cheese and wings were very good. Everyone liked their food, burgers, grillers, and a turkey club sandwhich.I like the idea of their homebrews but they were a little dark for me, but they do change it up so i'm looking for a pale ale. Oh, the pretzel bites with their sauce, very good. On Weds they have music, not to loud you can't hear each other. My family will be coming back. We also met the owner and he is very passionate about his restaurant and the community.

On the way to Washington dc, we couldn't find any other restaurant so we gave it a try. I ordered a steak tip sandwich and my boyfriend ordered a pizza. It looked like everyone else a los ordered pizza and it was a popular item on the menu. Our food took forever to make. We waited about 30 minutes for our appetizers. It was so bad. We decided to give it up and waited for our main course. My sandwich wasn't great. It was so so. Then came my boyfriends pizza. The pizza was missing pineapple that my boyfriend ordered. But our waitress kept saying that we didn't order it and that it was so loud in the restaurant that it wasn't her fault she couldn't hear us. Anyways, we decided to give up. The pizza was really bad anyways. We were both disappointed. Plus, the service was so bad. Our waitress looked so unhappy to be there. Overall it was a bad experience - both and service were disappointing.

We stumbled across this place by accident. The pizza was amazing. The steak was delicious. Food was great for the most part although my Mahi Mahi salad wasn't that impressive. The service was outstanding and the passion really shined through the owner who visited our table frequently. I would definitely come here again!

This was my third visit to Hearthstone and it never fails to impress. I met a friend and we indulged in the Cinco de Mayo specials and they were fabulous. Fresh homemade empanadas were great. In my previous visits I have sampled the burger with fresh cut fries. Omg. I couldn't get enough of those fries. And the pizza is cooked in a brick oven which makes it even better. Fresh mozzarella put it over the top. Looking forward to my next visit, a real find here in Monroe.

Driving through Jamesburg we stopped in to Heathstone Grill. A neighbor ate there recently and said they had good wings and pizza. We ordered the wings and a small pizza for apps. The pizza was served after the entree and the wings were disappointingly fatty. My husband ordered the $25.95-5 oz filet mignon entree. The meat was overcooked and very salty. Best part of his meal was the half piece of corn served with the entree. For the price, we could have gone to Brennan's Steakhouse. I had the 2 for 1 kabobs. It was 4 small cubes of dry ,overcooked chicken with one slice of pepper and one slice of onion. The order could have been served on a saucer. The assistant manager asked us to return and to try the food again. She offered me a 10% off coupon for a lunch selection and a free appetizer. For the $58.00 check, plus tip, I have no intention of going back. The diners around us all had pizza as their meals. Should be a sign of what to order.

Amazing food, clean and crisp decor, great service! All around wonderful experience and I can't wait to tell my family and friends to come here! We'll definitely be back!! The food was sooo good! House dressing is yummy, every meal was made with the freshest ingredients, and the salmon was the best I've had in a long time. Check out the photos I posted of the salmon, cheesesteak, house salad, and provolone & bread appetizer!

Being a Jamesburg resident, I know how restaurants have failed in this ideal location; however, the Hearthstone Grill has staying power: 1) The food is amazing! While the chef/owner is still developing his menu, we had the pretzel bites with their mystery sauce as an appetizer (the bites were the perfect balance of crunchy outside, chewy inside while the sauce provided the perfect level of mustardy sweetness). For the main course, we had their large pizza, with half of it having homemade mozzarella (amazing - definitely the way to go) and the other half with normal store mozzarella (still good, but not as great as the margherita side). The crust of the pizza was perfect NJ thin with even substance to hold their sauce and cheese. 2) The atmosphere is great inside. It has an open kitchen and several times, I saw people talking and sharing compliments with the chef. When we spoke to him, he was genuine and sincerely grateful for the good words we shared. 3) While the menu is still developing and the service was ok, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

Place itself was done very nice inside. Went on a Saturday night so it was busy but not too bad. Food itself was very good. Prepared very well and very tasty. We had a little of everything. Appetizers, sandwiches, steaks, kids menu. The service on the other hand needs some improvement. It was slow at first but manageable. But then orders were completely missed and other than getting a pizza because it was the quickest thing to get, nothing was done to make up for it. Overall I wouldn't say I wouldn't go back. But it's not going to be my first choice to go back either. Hopefully the service part gets worked out because it has the potential to be a really good restaurant.

I think this is a welcome addition to the area and, with a few tweaks, could really be top-notch. We arrived to a half-full restaurant on a Friday night. We were greeted, seated & waited on promptly. Complimentary pretzel rolls/bites were delivered warm to the table with a basil/dijon dipping sauce. Tasty! More patrons followed and I think the kitchen was quickly overwhelmed. The dishes were delivered staggered from the kitchen. Hubby's porterhouse steak was good and cooked to order. A side of grilled asparagus and mac & cheese accompanied. My daughter and I sampled his food while waiting for our pizza; it arrived a few minutes later. Their stone oven is the main attraction and, while it made for a tasty pizza (and steak), I felt like both were in need of seasoning. Bottles of herbs & spices were delivered to the table with our pizza, but if it came seasoned from the kitchen, we shouldn't need to add our own, IMO. I can do that at any ordinary pizzeria. Toppings are limited to pepperoni, sausage, bacon, mushroom or onions. Not sure why the variety is so limited. We couldn't help but notice the couple at the next table waited awhile for service & then sent a burger back to the kitchen because it was undercooked. We may return in the future; I hope they continue to improve and work out the kinks.

A couple of friends introduced us to the Hearthstone about a month and a half ago. We have been back four times since then. Although our initial experience could have turned out very badly. Our server the first time was unresponsive to our needs and was rude. But Tom the manager stepped right in and turned the experience around for us. I ordered the 9 inch personal pizza with pulled pork and cole slaw with the house made hand pulled mozzarella. First off, GREAT combination! Second, the personal size is more than enough, I was able to take half of it home and boy was I glad so I can experience it all over again. My wife had the salmon. She said it was also great and the serving size was also more than she could eat. Our two friends had the special, smoked turkey dinner. We were all so pleased with our entire meal. The house beers are flavorful and well crafted. Although on our second visit they ran out of many of their home brews. but we continue to go back. Each time I tell myself that I'm going to order something other than pizza but I'm hooked on it. Tonight I had the personal size pizza mushrooms with smoked jalapenos. Another great pizza and once again I have half of it for later! This place does not disappoint. My wife had the firecracker shrimp which is similar to a large chain restaurant item of a similar name. Well it was better than the chain restaurant, hands down. I also have had the corn chowder, baked mac and cheese and of course a cupcake for dessert. The cupcakes are good but not the best I've had. I would love to see them create a dessert pizza! Overall I love this place and so glad there is a place like this so close to home that is consistently a home run every time.

The food is delicious! We went with a party of 6, everyone got something different & loved it. I recommend the hot wings for an appetizer & the jerk chicken entree, also definitely try the s'mores dessert!! Yum!

Best pizza I have ever had anywhere, ever. Even though the topping selection is limited, the basics get it done. Pizza was served quickly and seemed reasonably priced. I will be back to sample the rest of the menu.

Hubby and I were looking for a something new. Drove past before and were intrigued by brick oven. Their excuse for slow service is that everything is fresh homemade. The menu is VERY limited. Not one chicken dish, which was surprising. Our pot sticker appetizer was nothing special. Hubby's steak was ALMOST well done as he requested, but enjoyed it anyway. My mahi mahi was tasteless, tough on the outside and dry on the inside. When we told the waitress, she looked baffled. Manager told me chef blamed the grill and basically it wasn't going to get any better. He offered me steak or tuna. I agreed to the tuna and it was at least better than the mahi mahi. The odd thing was that rather than charge me for the awful mahi mahi which was cheaper, he charged me for the tuna which was more! Normal restaurants would give you break since the food sucked. They raved about the s'more dessert which was just a marshmallow on top of a Reese's and a cookie - big deal. Probably won't bother coming back....
