The worst service you can imagine Curries do not come with rice and you have to basically order everything separately. Dont forget they do not tell you about the lunch special. It is in the very back of the page. You would think that the food is so great the service is forgettable. No way. Because of the service your appetite will be soon to be gone

Loveeeeee the food here. The food at this restaurant has been my favorite over and over again. I've been coming here for about two years now....and the food is made fresh on the spot..their barbecue is juicy and to die for! And the staff is friendly as well especially the owner of the restaurant who is always there. Also try out their mango lassi and their Garlic naan yummm

As a foodie and always on the hunt for great eats, I cannot believe I did not find this gem being an Edison local myself. The food at Zaika Grill is simply amazing. Not only is the food delicious and fresh, (grilled-to-order) the presentation and the way the grilled meats just sizzles off the hot cast iron plate is stunning. Usually, the "scoville heat index" of Indian cuisine, depending on the dish tends to be off the charts on how spicy it can be; however, our dishes came perfectly season with the right touch of heat being the biryani. ( I recommend letting the staff know if you prefer xtra spicy, medium or mild as they seem very accommodating to requests) I will sure to be back soon and bring my friends along. Decor: 3/5 (clean, tidy, typical decor) Food: 5/5 (tasty, well marinated and sizzling) Value: 4/5 (great portions for sharing!) Service: 4/5 (service was friendly and welcoming) What my crew ordered: Chicken biryani rice Garlic naan Tikki masala Mixed grill Lamb chops Next time we will be trying something with more kick!

First, the bad news: the lighting inside is probably far far too bright; operating table bright fluorescents make for a really take-out-counter style place. I don't care really, but it's not a fancy place. This might also be taken as good news. The other major problem: it's nowhere near my house AND has quite possibly ruined me for all the Indian/Pakistani restaurants near my area. So obviously that last one is a seriously backhanded compliment in disguise; wow, I'm incredibly impressed with the food. So I don't care at all about the diner-type booths and the sauces in ketchup/mustard squeeze bottles; irrelevant! So I had the mixed grill, and it's absolutely stunning. Juicy flavorful, and definitely the must-get item here. OK, I've only been once, but that seems to be the general consensus as well. I really enjoyed the garlic naan as well, it was flaky and puffy and just right. As I waddled out, I made a mental note to come back if I'm ever back in this part of Jersey again; it's that good. And I'm just wishing that other South Asian places in the Boston area had to compete, and could raise their game to this level. For all I know, this is the worst place in the area, (note: i doubt this, as the constant walk-in and take-out traffic attests to their popularity with people who at least to my uncultured eye looked like they'd know what good food was) but it's so far above the usual standard that I've been having that it's really amazing. The service was ok, I chatted a bit with the owner dude, and he seemed very nice and friendly; the menu could probably stand to have a bit more explanation (if they had an onsite menu vs. just the take-out folder) but the onus is on the visitor to ask questions! I wish that I had gone with someone else to be able to sample more foods than just my own plateful, too. Oh well. Just visit, and enjoy!

My sons and I went to this place a few weeks ago after I had purchased a GROUPON. Much to my chagrin, the coupon was for the other Zaika location but we hadn't had lunch yet so we sat down anyway. The place is clean enough if not exactly upscale. Mismatched tables do give it a "thrown together" look. One of my sons had to ask for a different spoon because the first one had water spots but the tables were clean and there were no other issues in this regard. Normally I'd talk about the service next but let's save that little nugget for last. The food was tasty. I had goat paya and my sons and I all had samosas. The goat was good and the samosas were as well. If for the food alone, I'd recommend this place and it's probably a fine take-out option. Eating in means you have servers and that's where our visit really fell apart. I can count only three times in my life that I've eschewed leaving a tip with my payment and this was one of them. The person who greeted us when we walked in didn't show us to a table and just basically waved us over to wherever we wanted to sit. That's fine; it's that sort of place. The waiter took our order quickly enough and brought our beverages pretty quickly but that was it. The food took a very long time to come out to us. One of my sons ordered hot tea and we were midway through the entree and it hadn't arrived yet. We were finally able to get a server's attention and mentioned the missing tea. He left and came back a couple of minutes later with a glass of unsweetened iced tea. We tried to explain that he wanted hot tea but the waiter didn't seem to understand. Finally we just told him to forget it. The waiter who took our order neglected to tell the two of us that got curries that the entrees were not accompanied with anything. To be fair, the menu doesn't mention any side dishes but the waiter might have suggested some bread or rice. We wound up having to share in the vegetable biryani my one son got. Finally, we had been greeted by one person, had our order taken by a second, and delivered by a third. All three of them were standing around chatting when we were done. One of us had even gotten a take-out tray. We were obviously done but we still had to wait and finally ask for a check. We didn't risk having to wait another 10 minutes or more for someone to finally collect payment and just got up and walked to the register. Needless to say, I don 't think I'll be going back...

Probably closer to 3.5 stars. Stopped by for takeout on a biz trip. Wanted roghan josh but, after they spent some time in the kitchen, I was told they were out. Settled for chicken karahi, turned out to be pretty good. Very spicy, but not unbearable, just the way I like it. Garlic naan had way too much garlic, and I am generally a fan. Took the takeout to hotel and found out they don't include rice (not a huge deal) or silverware (huge deal).
(3)Mario F.
Me and a friend from work stopped by for lunch one day and I have to say were pretty happy with what we got. We both ordered the garlic naan, samosas and the grill plate platter. Everything was served hot and fresh and was very tasty. The samosas were baked not fried and very crispy and flavorful. The grill platter was also excellent and had just the right amount of spice and heat. The portion sizes were also really good. We both were very happy with the food. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that the service wasn't that great and a little slow but I would definitely still come back again for the food.
(4)sumi s.
When an indo/pak restaurant says grill it means it is whats traditionally known as a dhaba restaurant. The best food here is what can be made fast and fresh. Everything grilled was delicious. The naans were amazing I wish I could have tried them all. Any dish that is considered more.formal or time consuming is probably not going be as good. The chicken biryani was bleh and boring. Drinks are great here and there is zero atmosphere. Take it for what it is and leave it at that.
(4)Toby M.
place for the mutton biriyani...... Simply awesome Other stuff... Curries... Didnt impress me much.... With too much oil, fat..... And then there are the teas.... Kashmiri chai, peshwari kehva...... Service has to go miles though......left very much to be desired...

This is the second time Ive come to Zaika since it first opened years ago. This two star review is based off of my experience tonight. I ordered a chicken burger which I expected to be a chicken breast grilled which their menu describes it as however it was nothing more than a skimpy frozen-food section halal chicken patty (not even all white breast meat, it was that awful ground substance). I could only make it through half before putting it away. The butter chicken at one point was extremely tasty however it has now become a thawed-out re-heated dish where u can taste that the chicken is absolutely not fresh. It was an extremely disappointing experience from a restaurant I had high hopes for which seems to have succumbed to complacency and no longer strives for excellence. The mixed grill tasted good and was obviously fresh which is the reason for the second star.
(2)Julius S.
Great BBQ, but unique style: Pakistani, so unlike American BBQ, it's wonderfully flavored with aromatic spices. They are masters balancing spices that creating a symphony of flavors rarely found in much more expensive restaurant. And the staff is very friendly, if somewhat limited in their English. But that's usually the sign of a good ethinic restaurant. I have a theory that the food in an ethnic restaurant is inversely related to their mastery of the English language. Just kidding a little, actually the manager speaks English very well.
(5)Manny F.
Truly a great experience at Zaiqa BBQ & Grill. Behari Kababs are awesome and Haleem was off the hook. Kheer and Falooda were good too. A must visit place if you like Desi food.
(5)Krish M.
WORST FOOD EVER. Worst Biryani & no taste ever, very oily chicken 65. Chilli flakes all over the Biryani to increase the spice level. BEWARE. Don't ever try to order from them.
(1)Aminah K.
Me and my family went to this restaurant. My brother is very picky about food so we ordered him a plain hamburger, but when the food came it had everything on it. My brother was upset so they gave us a new one but that one was way too spicy . All the food was very spicy my nose was runny and my tongue was on fire . Also to go to the bathroom you had to walk through the kitchen. This was awkward.
(4)Majidah N.
We went for dinner and loved it. Everything was cooked fresh and very flavorful. Ordered the chicken kabab roll, brain masala & nihari. Would definitely come again.
(5)Nikki A.
I don't know how this place got such bad reviews! All their kabobs are tasty. Everything is made to order. I personally recommend the Chicken 65 (dry), chicken cheese kabob and the Lahori chicken. Their chapli kabob burgers are really good too, and the french fries didn't disappoint (I was shocked! Desis aren't known for their fries but theirs are really good!) The servers are always attentive and have always been more than helpful when we've dined in. The manager, servers and those in the kitchen are very polite and respectful as well. The place is clean, tables are always wiped down and I've never seen any flies in here like others have stated. We've eaten in and ordered take out and have never had a complaint. Their a bit pricey than the competitors in the area but their food makes spending the money worth it.
(5)Sameer S.
Food is great and so is the owner! Catered from them for my Nikkah (Wedding Ceremony) After party and my guests were happy with the selection. I usually get the mixed chicken sizzler grill with garlic naan when I visit! YUMMY!
(5)Erica M.
We were in the area and looking for a great Indian restaurant for an early dinner. Yelpers suggested Zaika, so we decided to give it a shot (Yelp deal in hand). We were quite impressed. The mixed grill was delicious - chunks of chicken breast marinated in different types of marinades, BBQed and served on a sizzling hot plate. Their coriander and mint sauces should be used generously - they were delicious. We also had the chana masala, which was OK. Not our favorite (and it was quite oily) but the chickpeas were perfectly cooked. The garlic naan was delicious. The best part of the meal was that even with the oily chana, the meal felt fairly healthy. The naan wasn't greasy, the chicken wasn't heavy. Overall, it was a delicious meal and I would highly recommend this spot!

We had just landed from Milan in JFK and were driving down to DC and were craving Pakistani food so we found this place. Absolutely awesome place. Wife and I got mango lassi's which were pretty good. Wife got saag paneer which she liked a lot. I got chicken tikka masala which was very good. Wife and I split a chicken wrap which was probably the highlight for me. The people running the shop were very very nice. This places is a ways away from the other Pakistani places in Edison but well worth going to. Will be back when we're in the area.
(5)Samantha L.
I'm not familiar with Indian cuisine but I must say that this place was really good. The BF and I ordered a the Chicken Tikka Misala, Goat Nan (ground goat meat), sesame bread, he got the beef bread, and a chicken and rice dish. Sorry but all the names escape me at this time. Either way there was a party in my mouth and all the spices were invited. There really isn't anything that I ordered that I wouldn't order again. The portions were plentiful and the cost was affordable. Between all that we ordered we had alot of left overs to bring home and stuffed ourselved to the gill. All this for less than $40. The decor leaves something to be desired but I'd pick good food over decor any day
(4)Ozzy U.
Place was completely empty when two of us walked in. Host/waitress was pretty helpful. Ordered some lamb kebabs with rice combo, not so bad but too spicy. Did not like samosa at all, I've got chicken and vegetable ones. I noticed that this place can't make regular black tea, don't even try to order tea here. Overal, this place is located in a good spot, you can have some good food if you know menu items well.
(3)Sara A.
This place is great! Their food is authentic Indian, cheap prices and great taste. It's in an isolated place in NJ but I love the food so it's worth the visit. Their bathroom is in the kitchen and that's annoying, but rather than that this place rocks.
(4)Tara M.
Ive been to this place several times. Although they have okay bbq. The food is subpar. Decor is basically a fast food take out indian bbq. The staff is not very attentive n seemed to b bothered by american customers. The chicken tikka masala was grilled chicken thrown in some tikka masala sauce that was a little too fluorescent for me. I do have to admit that the garlic naan was delicious. They dont do buffet in less its a holiday. Prices are reasonable but if I am in area again I would look for another place to eat. Not worth it.
(3)Shahrukh S.
Very unorganized! We ordered butter chicken and it was so bad my sister spit it out of her mouth. The chicken biryani had no taste and the rice was uncooked. The samosa chaat was pretty good besides the channay being canned. The chicken kababs were really good and the mix grill was good to besides a few pieces of chicken being a little pink. I never got my samosay which upset me. They just need to fix up a few things like learn how to cook and how to give good service and then I would come back jk I won't! I still could go on...ps the naan were good too
(2)Scott S.
Bought the deal on yelp. Not very busy. Had the grilled chicken combo. Was pretty good variety and very flavorful. Lots of chicken. Could not finish the portion.
(3)Vinayak B.
We have been here on two different occasions. Their kebab platter and the chicken haleem were really good. The biriyani and some of the veggie entrees like saag paneer and mirchi ka salaan were ok. The pakoras were greasy. If there's one reason we'd be back, it would be for the haleem.
(3)Ana N.
I've heard that their grilled meats are pretty good but the food we ordered today was just ok. We had the chicken tikka masala ($7.99) which was too creamy/watery but it had a lot of chicken. The veggie samosas ($2.49 for two) were nice and crispy, but had a weird sour aftertaste. Overall not terrible but with so many places in this area with awesome Pakistani or Indian food, I'm not sure I would go back. Also, we ordered takeout but by the looks of the dining room and kitchen I might question the cleanliness.
(2)Romeo M.
Amazing Amazing Amazing I was very impressed with service, very friendly environment, delicious food. Food came out steaming and hot, just amazing. I wish I knew what I was eating cause I would suggest it. I just walked in there and told the owner "don't worry about the price, just make this trip worth it" an that's exactly what he did lol I was amazed. It was fantastic.
(5)Carlo A.
I went there last night and looked at the menu and almost walked out. I had never heard of anything they had. The man who was our waiter spent a ton of time explaining it and offered us over ten minutes of help. We prefer the mixed chicken with garlic naan and it was fantastic!!! Guilt free also, because it is all fire grilled on a clay oven! I'm definitely going back sooner than later and often!! Great deal! The mixed grill is 13.99 and it feeds two! Solid choice for a healthy meal! Loved this place!
(5)Robert M.
Sorry- maybe it is just my American palate- but I thought my 3 curries were all watered down without much flavor. Maybe the biryani and other items are good- but I'll pass on this place for now.
(2)Ken M.
Wow......where do I begin? On 5/19/15, I visited the Zaika establishment located on Woodbridge Avenue in Edison. I ordered the AMAZING mixed grill combination, excellent onion stuffed naan bread, and an order of tandoori chicken.I arrived at a time when no other customers were present. The desert was galag juman.Amazing food all around and the man that took my order was super nice. My advice at present is this:Overlook the one star reviews and try this establishment.
(5)Fatema S.
We ordered chicken tikka boti.. it was hard and burnt difficult to chew.. the chicken kheema and garlic naan was good.. i had the 10 for 20 deal so the owner literally made a face at us and the service was very rude. nobody knows english there and they cant even smile.. i complimented the kheema but the lady had no courtesy to say thank you and she immediately opened our bill to see her tip right in front of us..there were so many flies in the restaurant and very poorly maintained place. I am definitely not going there...
(2)Muhammad S.
Simply one of the worst desi food I have ever had. Bad service, burned kababs and lethargic waiters. I seriously wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone l.'
(1)Ashu B.
Awesome food, the quantity was good too. They delivered it pretty much faster than expected. The jumbo tandoori shrimps were the best! :)
(5)Erica S.
We just may not be Indian food lovers but ordered a little of everything and ate none of it. Just didn't like anything (Even the mango shake was kind of icky ) which is unusual for us but oh well. They delivered late but and all was hot. So that's that.
(2)Thomas M.
There service great!!!! Every all the workers there are great . Especially the food is amazing . I recommend this to place to everyone!
(5)Moe K.
*Update I've visited this place twice. The first time was with my family and we kind of liked it. The second time around, we were extremely disappointed. Here are some of the pros and cons I've experienced during the 2nd (and final) visit. Pros: Absolutely none, horrible experience this time around. Cons: 1- These guys just simply don't know how to run a business. Again (Just like the first visit), the order was totally messed up. They forgot to make one of the plates we ordered and by the time it was made, everyone was full. Even though I made sure they got the order correctly, they still managed to mess it up. 2- Flies all over the place, but don't worry, they come included with your meals and you don't have to pay extra to have them fly all over you and your food. 3- The guy who was bringing out the plates to the table had a really bad burn on his right arm. It was uncovered, infected and untreated. (Major turn off and is absolutely disgusting) This alone cost them 2 stars on my rating and it is one of the main reasons why I won't be returning to this place. 4- They charged us %18 gratuity for basically doing nothing to serve us but to bring the plates to the table. I had to walk up to the refrigerator to get drinks and I had to walk up to the counter to ask for napkins and of course, I had to make room on the table for dishes by removing used dishes or empty ones and put them on the empty table next to us. The funny thing is though, they counted a 5 months old baby towards the 5 person count to charge the gratuity fee and when I brought it to the manager's attention (His name is Shahab) he said "It's our 'store' policy and we can't do anything about it". (Oh gosh, lol, I can't help but laugh at how people like Shahab wonder why they lose good customers for such stupidity and greed.) I left tips on the table the first time I visited the place and I always leave tips regardless of where I go. It's only the right thing to do. But for them to have the nerve to hit me with it on my bill is just WRONG. 5- Dirty Restroom 6- No AC on a hot summer night. 7- Smaller portions then the first time. Would I return to Zaika? I definitely won't be returning to this place.

We had karhai chicken and chicken tikka masala from here. The karhai chicken was okay. It was pretty spicy, but nothing special. Then there was tikka masala in a cream sauce, and it tasted like butter chicken. It was also just okay tasting to me. The person who was working there said that these dishes are their most popular entrees. We also had the mixed grill entrees and my family really enjoyed it. It was made up of spicy chicken grilled up into pieces. I really enjoyed the grilled entree more than the curried entrees. This place is pretty popular, and if you like inexpensive pakistani food then you should come and try it.
(3)Sudie B.
My friends and I stopped here on a road trip because of its proximity to 95. We were pleasantly surprised by just how delicious our pakoras, daal, Chana masala, and mixed meat platter was. If we lived nearby, we would definitely come back!
(5)Bharadwaj P.
The food was bland, the portions sizes are small for the price they charge. I wouldnt order delivery again. I have no idea if the dining in experience is any better,
(1)Deepak R.
One of the best authentic Indian/Pakistan restaurants in jersey area. I have been there number of times and I like the bheja curry. It deserves absolute all start for the pricing and its taste.
(5)Siju V.
I was at this place with my friends, it was one and only bad experience coz I will never go back. Some of the food wasn't even cooked well. It felt like the curry was picked up from some frozen food store they just microwave it and was served at the table. Chicken Seekh kabab was good though, may be that's their speciality but not worth next visit. One star is just for the seekh kabab, I didn't really wished to give that too ...
(1)Ian N.
I ordered on grubhub, which was nice. The food was cheap, also nice. Unfortunately, that's where the nice cut off. The tikka masala was a bizarre highlighter pink color and very sweet. The chicken was boneless, but looked and tasted like chicken breast. The whole dish was weird. The chicken korma was super spicy, and the chicken was bone-in. The bones were broken and and there were inedible parts all throughout the dish. Also, the oil had separated and I could not re-integrate it into the dish. Very hard to eat, and lucky that I like spicy food or that would have been scrapped. The naan was good. Remember to order rice on grubhub if you want it. I'll be skipping this place from now on.
(2)Nancy E.
We came here yesterday and it was so good! Everything was fresh and made to order. I had the beef biryani and the hubs had lamb boti. Both were so flavorful and came on these piping hot plates. The sizzle and char were fabulous! The naan was very good as were the samosas. Definitely coming back!! Don't be turned off by the decor. It's all about the food baby!!
(5)Mike S.
My girlfriend and I stopped here on the way home from the airport, not being from around the area and knowing nothing about where to eat. This place is unassuming and quiet, but we were pleasantly surprised by how great everything was. The service was good, we had an attentive waiter who also explained things on the menu and made recommendations. The food was very good. We ordered two different curries, garlic naan, and pani puri. While the pani puri wasn't amazing, the naan may have been the best I've had, and both of our curry dishes were so good we were sad to be full so we couldn't eat more. I would highly recommend this restaurant, and I hope I happen to be back in the area some time soon to eat here again.
(5)Srini T.
The place is pretty small and service a bit slow. Kati roll was good. Biryani was not authentic and I would not try it again.
(3)Samantha C.
We hired them for our event and the service and food was by far the best I've ever had from a caterer. The chicken baryani, tandoori chicken, lamb korma and bhindi were among the delicious entrees they made. Everything was freshly prepared, perfectly spiced and did I mention delicious. Will definitely go back to them for other events. Shahaab's guys rock!!
(5)Nadia B.
A little annoyed at yelp since my previous review had been flagged but I'll rewrite an abridged version since I really like Zaika! I would highly recommend their BBQ items (chicken tikka, bihari kebabs, regular kebobs). Definitely try to trek from there if you're close by. They do a lot of takeout which you might want to try it out! I was told their ambiance would also change which would be nice for sit-down gatherings. Their vegetarian options are also nice! We also do catering from here and they definitely deliver on flavor every time!
(4)Nez B.
I had the beef bihari (its a huge serving), chicken masala, malai kofta (veggie dumplings), and naan for the first time and they were all great. Entire meal came to about $25 and was well worth it. Waitress was very nice, dining tables and seating are cozy and plenty for a small place. Definitely will stop by here again if my next road trips brins me near
(4)Alex C.
Came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon...aaaand found a sweet Yelp deal $20 for $10 to go along with it! Ordered the lamb chops, spicy beef entree, a veg. samosa, paneer masala, and some garlic and sesame naan. The dishes were all very good...I am a big Indian food eater but not well versed in Pakistani food. The spices were clear and sharp, the curry was buttery, and the naan was lovely and different from others I have had before. I will say, the lamb (3 pieces) comes out sliced in very thin chops across the rib (similar to Korean galbi but thinner), and ours was pretty dry. The beef was very good, and tasted particularly delicious with the accompanying tamarind sauce. The paneer was this oddly vibrant color, and tasted slightly different than every version I have ever had. It was sweet and creamy, but the cheese was cut into such small cubes that it felt somewhat lacking. I will say, the naan mopped up the bright red-orange sauce in a wonderful way. The interior is pretty divey looking, and I didn't really mind it. However, they didn't clean up very well after the last group (apparently a table of 10-12) and there was food all over the floor. The waitress was friendly but when we asked her about the different sauces, she just set three bottles down and breezed over them. We were the only people in there, and since it was a new experience for us, I was really enthusiastic and trying all different dishes. She really seemed uninterested and went back to flipping through her phone and yelling for her son to stop messing around (7 year old running around the small restaurant). The food is worth a try, and maybe if you know the cuisine better, it's something to come back for. I wasn't huge on the service...we walked out full and somewhat content, but I think most of it was from the satisfaction of saving ourselves some cash at lunch (though we did still tip on the pre-discounted amount because we're not a bunch of a-holes). Skip the lamb, maybe go for kebabs and naan.

Four stars on Yelp? I'm confused. Maybe the sit-down experience is better, or maybe we just somehow ordered the very wrong things. Someone before us posted not to order the curries; guess we should have read that. We ordered from GrubHub and figured out from the low prices (circa $5 for channa masala and other entrees) that they wouldn't come with rice, so we got rice too. GrubHub requires $25 minimum for delivery, which was a stretch for the two of us, but we were staying in a hotel with a fridge, so we figured that over-ordering meant we'd get breakfast leftovers. Yeah, not so much. The channa masala was nothing like any channa masala I've had. It was watery and oily. When I mixed up the oil, the substance was still a sort of grey slurry with occasional lumps of chickpea. CM is one of my all-time favorite dishes, and I couldn't eat this stuff. Daal wasn't much better, but at least had more random bean bits, so I strained some out and put them on the biryani rice. Glad we ordered that, because it was what I ate the most of, along with the samosas and samosa chaat. Those weren't anything amazing - I pulled a long stringy thing out of my samosa that I'm sure was vegetable fiber, but still kind of unappealing - but were edible. Naan orders were small single pieces, but I think that's reflected in the price.

Can't go wrong with most items on the menu but anytime I go here, I always get at least the Mixed Grill Platter.

Good food but bad service. Seems to be a family run place, so expectedly service was not up to par. We had to ask three separate times for water, napkins and silverware. There was also a fly giving us company. Mixed grilled platter was really good. Samosa was just okay. The price seemed reasonable. Probably better as take out.

The mixed grill was terrific! The beef and lamb curry were very tasty

The food was OK but the customer service was awful.

I would not recommend this place. I got the bhel puri and 3 different vegetarian curries. The bhel puri was very strange and completely different than the bhel puri I've had at other Indian restaurants. The curries were ridiculously watered down and with water and oil. I threw out my leftovers.

Legit bbq. Slammin lamb chops and kabobs. Great Tiki masala, very creamy. Mix grill is a great sampler. Owners are very friendly and will speak to you about all the different dishes they have. Will return very shortly.

I walked in to an empty restaurant except 4 employees sitting around. I was seated at a table with a food stained tablecloth. There were boxes stacked all over in a corner area. The benches were sticky. I started with Samosas, they were so overcooked I had to ask for silverware to cut them, there were none at my table or napkins. When I asked for silverware the dude didn't know what that was, he had to asked someone, for real? He did speak English. Anyway I couldn't eat them, they were horrible. All the sauces are served in squeeze bottles, yikes. The Chicken Korma was just chicken bones in sauce, seriously with no meat. I told a guy that seemed like a owner, he apologized and brought a different chicken dish, it was tiny slivers of chicken and tasted milky and was just gross. Very small portions for $8 but I didn't care, I just wanted to get out of there. I'm very confused about the high ratings. This truly is the worst Indian food I've ever had. You can get superior Indian food at Whole Foods hot food bar and then eat it at a clean table.

Saw them listed on GrubHub and decided to try them out for lunch the other day. $25 delivery minimum, which is a bit hard to meet on even a large order with their low prices. They took a long time to deliver, which I've come to expect from GrubHub orders, and much to my annoyance, asked that I not use that service in the future. (Then why are you on it!?) However, the food was really good. The Mango Lassi was tasty and fresh and really hit my sweet spot. The Samosa were quite good, even if they called me 20 minutes into the order to say they didn't have any Vegetable left and would give me chicken samosa for the same price. (As a matter of fact I ended up with a Vegetable Samosa, even though they said they didn't have any!) I wish they did give more sauce or used larger containers, as the samosa are quite big. I had the chicken biryani, which tasted wonderful. Unfortunately there was more bone than chicken, and not too much meat on 'em! That said, the rice was good enough to stand on its own and the pieces of grilled chicken mixed in were excellent. The naan was very good and an additional chutney is given to dip them in. I finished off with some kheer. While good, it was a little bland compared to the tastes in the other dishes and could have probably used some more nuts and raisins mixed in. I would definitely order from them again, some issues aside, as they were the cheapest but best quality Indian/Pakistani food in the region. Especially as many of the Indian places I've come to trust - that deliver! - have closed shop. A very well priced container of Tikka Masala was bought for lunch the next day, but was summarily forgotten about by the reviewer and had to be thrown out.

Not so good for vegetarian people. Had ordered three times different curries but all with very bad taste. Uses extreme dark pink food color for their paneer makhani. Chana masala was with too much garam masala. Dal makhani was without cream or butter. Food is cheap but you get what you pay for.

Yes their food is excellent! The brain masala and chicken kadai were mindblowimg...even the dryish lamb chop. Ambience- not much, super basic. If you call them for delivery they only deliver within 5 miles and if u are even 5.1 miles away they wont accomodate-they are very curt about it. I would go there just for the food but dont expect great service or anything.

Great food and excellent service. Definitely I one of the best Pakistani restaurants in Jersey.
(5)Muhammad M.
The Mixed grill is great. Naan smelled amazing. The Mango lassi is fresh, probably the freshest you're gonna get in the US. In fact, everything tasted pretty fresh which is why it took a few minutes before it came out. Ill definitely be back.
(5)Jasmine R.
Best and cheapest chicken biryani in Jersey. Also, their Bihari kababs are really good.

Great kabobs!! Was in Edison for work, stopped by here as it was close to my hotel...Marriott. I't's a small hole in the wall kinda place, but loved the food. Got the kabob mixed plate sampler with a naan, perfection. Had to yelp. 4/5 as bill came to close to $16 with a soda and that's a little pricey, but well worth it.

Very bad service and it felt like the owner/manager was mad that we had the Yelp deal. We had to get our water by ourselves which was inside a fridge. Cups were dirty and service was so bad that we grabbed another pair from another table. I eat Indian food all the time and I would say food was hit or miss. I Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

We were all excited to find an Indian spot that delivers, and judging from the other reviews, I thought it would surely be good. Oof. So wrong. The food we got was decent (the tikka masala was pretty tasty), but the service was abysmal. Let's start with the fact that we didn't receive all the food we ordered. I suppose we should've seen something like that coming since my boyfriend had to repeat our address at AT LEAST six times. But since the person who took the order made it a point to enforce the $25 delivery minimum (communicated THAT just fine), it seems extra ironic that they left out items they were so adamant we order. When we called to say, "Hey, you charged us for samosas that weren't in the bag," there were more communication problems and a hang-up that may or may not have been accidental. We finally got a refund, but wow. Take-out drama. Oh! And bonus: none of the curries comes with rice (guess that's extra even though EVERY OTHER INDIAN RESTAURANT I'VE EVER BEEN TO INCLUDES IT WITH THE MEAL), and the salad (shredded iceberg) comes wrapped in tin foil. Just. Tin foil. Classy. Overall, not impressed. And not likely to order from here again.

This location is where the better food is at. We are a fan of their Beef Nihari, Mixed Grill and Chicken Tikka Masala. no parking lot attached so street parking is the option here. We have never had a problem finding street parking. The restaurant is clean, the staff nice and responsive and food is delicious. They have cheese kebabs on their menu which we absolutely love but really need to try next time.
(4)Omkar C.
The place is worthwhile only for the kababs. Do not order the curries , we tried the chicken rogan josh , dal makhni and paneer masala and it was horrible. We did not eat more than a spoon of serving.

Zaika BBQ Grill recently opened in Edison NJ. W stopped for lunch one day. Having visited a nearby Pakisatani restaurant (Kashmir Nan Kabob) several times we decided we were familiar enough with the food to give it a try. The interior isnt anything special to look at a couple of tables with mirrors on the walls. The Briyani was great, as was the mixed grill (tandoori chicken and kabobs) They have some great samosa and deals on Kabobs and Samosa if you get a dozen to-go.
(4)Abdul S.
It's by far my favorite place to go and eat.all the grilled kabobs are awesome and the owners run the place very nicely.i eat there once or sometimes twice a week and I will always do that.
(5)Moose S.
I go here every time I have a cheat meal. Real home made Pakistani food just like how Auntie made it. Freshest ingredients & great service!
(5)GR K.
Wonderful food and wonderful service. The kabab platter is recommended by the owners and it is worth it. Great food i went there on my birthday n its d 2nd best food i had on my birthday...best being my mom's

This restaurant is conveniently located near my apartment, so I am able to come here frequently and try new things served on the menu. Everything is pretty good. They have really good deals posted behind the register area. I typically get the chicken byriani ($4) or the platter combos that come with rice, naan, and 2 types of curries for under $10. The portion sizes are good for the price and the customer service is great. The manager is extremely nice and willing to take the time to go through the menu with you!

Went here a few days ago, food was alright not that great. We had the mix grill and the lamb boti (don't recommend). The only good thing in the mix grill was the malai boti which I have to say was amazingly delicious! We also had the garlic naan and it was soft, buttery and great. Mango Lassi was ehh, wouldn't recommend it.

Setting wise this is a takeout place with a few tables. Liked their Papdi Chat (chickpea in a red sweet and vinegary sauce) and the Mango Lassi drink. The mix grill lets you try different kinds of grilled chicken (Kabab, Behari, Chapli, Tikka, etc.). The curry dishes (Chicken Korma and Beef Nihari) were just ordinary and each only had two or three pieces of meat for $8. $4 for a plate of plain long rice was on the expensive side. Also the garlic Naan was a non-starter for me.

I used the $20 for $40 worth of food Groupon for my first family meal at Zaika. For a Gringo, the various dishes were quite spicy hot (Zaika Mixed Grill, Lamb Masala, etc.). They could not adjust the spicyness of the Mixed Grill as the meats were pre-marinated. The only mild dish was the Butter Chicken. My husband liked the food but I was less enthusiastic about it. The 20-25 min. wait for the food seemed very long. We could not understand why the large Pakistani group who ordered right before us got their food in probably about 15 min. or less while we waited much longer especially since the restaurant was only half full. Also, the appetizers came AFTER the main course! I was shocked that the Rice, Naan and Roti were not included with the entrees. The plain Basmati rice alone was $4, the Roti (1 piece) was $1 and the Onion Naan (1 piece) was $3 or $4! Interestingly, another reviewer mentioned that naan and rice were included with the meal. I now have a growing suspicion that since I had told them that I had a Groupon, they added in the additional charge for the naan, roti and rice to reduce the discount. Not very cool in my book. This suspicion soured my whole dining experience! Note, there is only on-street parking but I did not have an issue finding a spot on a Saturday night. Although the food was probably decent but the service and extra charge for the naan, roti and rice were mediocre to poor, I only give this restaurant 2 stars. If you plan to use your Groupon, definitely do NOT disclose it until you have a written check!

Went here two weeks ago. This place is really good! We're Russian and by the name of this place thought it was a Russian restaurant, but we were not disappointed at all when we tasted the food. The lamb chops were great, so was the garlic naan, chicken rice and Chicken Keema. The owner and his sister were very friendly and helpful with helping us choose the dishes. Flavors and spices were very well balanced.

I ordered for a delivery from Zaika on a Thursday night at 9:45pm. Paneer tikka masala, Chicken Kadhai and mutton biryani. The paneer tikka was not good at all, it looked as if they had added some color to it,the chicken tasted good but very oily, the biryani was fine. I would not order from here unless i have no choice. I guess it's a decent find if you want to spend less and feel full.

Absolutely humble service and great fresh food, I went to their new location with the groupon and they were awesome. I think I will go again and again here. Great casual night even on a weekday u get freshly prepared food not microwaved like some other places. Keep up the great service and food Zaika!
(5)Sigmund B.
Nice service. Food a little hot for my taste. Maybe best for locals.
(3)Ji M.
I would have to give this place a THUMBS UP! Small, and humble looking place with awesome food! Not much ambiance going on (Maybe that's why I only had it To-Go or Delivery Very friendly (I only had it Take-Out, and Delivery) I ordered for Delivery 20 mins before they were closing, but they did not give me any hard time. Delivery was very promt and deliverer was very friendly! if you are low on budget and want great food, Zaika totally recommended .

This place is great. I recommend the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala with naan bread. Tastes good :)

In Edison for travel and looking for great Indian food. First of all we got completely lost, and the manager spent 15 minutes on the phone with us to help us find out way! Very nice start. The atmosphere was mediocre but the food was delicious, all made in-house and very fresh. We went vegetarian and the manager was nice enough to explain all of their veggie options and made great recommendations. Highly recommended and hope to go back soon!
(5)Rotem B.
Great authentic dishes. Everything is delicious, with super-friendly service. I found my place for dinner in my next visits to Edison.

Stopped by to try them out for lunch today. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Seemed to be a family operated establishment. It was evident that care was placed in ensuring our dining experience was pleasant. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and palak paneer. Both were delicious. I also had a Lassi to drink and Ras Malai (my favorite dessert) to round out the meal. Both were excellent! Price point was right on the spot and the meal included rice and naan, which was nice. Ambiance and decor was meh, but I hadn't expected anything better before we got there and the food/service made up for it. I'll certainly be coming back and I plan to order take out as well.

We weren't very familiar with Pakistani Food but decided to be adventurous and give it a try. The staff is helpful if you have questions which makes you feel comfortable. The Lamb/Beef Kabobs were good and the Chicken Tikka Marsala was the best I have ever had. The sauce was buttery and had actual saffron threads in it and the chicken had been grilled and was caramelized in spots, really tasty. Not fancy but great food at reasonable prices. We will be back to try something different or maybe just take something out. Definitely worth checking out.
