High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

11/4/14 a group of friends and I went out for "half apps" which we usually do every 2 week or so. We were seated on the left side upon entering where we normal do and we were taken care of by Chris Principe. He has been our server before and he is usually pretty good. Food was ok and we were not charged for sodas because we usually tip very generously. After our meal and paying we left. During the ride home our friend realized he had forgot his wallet. Being only 5 minutes away it was no big deal and we simply turned around and headed back to the restaurant. Upon arrival the manager handed my friend the wallet and we began to walk outside. On closer inspection my friend realized that $140 had been taken from his wallet. He walked back inside and asked what happened to his money. He told the manager that money was taken from his wallet but the manager swore up and down that he was the one who found it and the only one who had touched it. We demanded to see the video tapes but the manger heavily resisted. We then proceeded to threat to call the police. Which one of the ladies in our group did. The manager eventually showed us the tape and it shows the waiter Chris picking up my friends wallet and taking it into the back room where you cannot be seen on camera. After he disappeared into the back room he came out and gave the wallet to the manager. The video showed only Chris and the manger had the wallet and when the manger had it he was on camera the whole time. We are all well paid adults that have no reason to lie or try to steal from Applebee's or a waiter that we have. We were regulars at this location who tipped the servers well and spent a lot of money on food and drinks. We simply want what was stolen from us back. The police were called and a report has been filed. We will see where this investigation leads. Disappointed in the management at this location. As a fellow business owner myself I understand the difficulties but this was uncalled for. The manger did nothing besides try to lie his way out of the situation. We will not be returning and I highly suggest that you do not return either! Shame on you Applebee's.

I stopped by for an early dinner and the lot was empty. Not a good sign. I have not been here in a few months but I saw that they came out with some new burgers. The staff has always been pleasant & plentiful, not today ! I sat at the bar & waited. Sarah & Dave have always been welcoming but missing today. Three guys were talking at the end of the bar, I was guessing one of them was the bartender. I never found out ! I read some recent reviews mentioning some lack of management, I did not see any of those either! It's a shame, I liked their burgers...

Really suprised at the reviews. The service has always been great when ever I have gone. The salads are always tasty and good portion. The happy hours always fun.

The staff is very friendly from when you walk in to you walk out, food was very good , I sat at bar got my food quick, Zak and Chris were working the bar. They were friendly and polite. Other restaurants should send there staff here to learn how to treat customers.

First, let me tell you that I'm a bartender in a Steakhouse and am Retired Navy, so attention to detail is one of my pet peeves.. I was there at about 3:30 or so on a Saturday afternoon. The place was pretty dead. There was about give or take, 9 or so tables, so we were sat very quickly. The first thing I noticed was all the servers. There had to be about 9 or 10. Also a bartender and two or three hosts'. Overkill in my opinion, but it is Saturday. Our server was Chris. He was very polite and came over to introduce himself in a timely manner. I asked him if he had Leinenkugels Summer Shandy on tap and was disappointed when he said no. He then went to his cheat sheet to tell me what they did have and I decided on Heineken. I've rarely seen this on tap other than in Irish bars, so I ordered the tall boy. Pet Peeve #1... Clean glasses.. I HATE dirty glasses and will never serve a drink in one. I am very happy to report that this glass was very clean. You can tell by the foam left on the glass after you've drunk it.. No foam residue, the glass is dirty. Both my tall boys, the glass was clean. My son ordered a Coke and me a water on the side. Both were delivered, quickly, but he forgot the straws. His pocket was full of them, so maybe it was just an oversight. The second glass of Coke, no straw. As one of the 10 or so servers passed me, I said, "Excuse me Miss...." I know I said it loud enough for her to hear me, but I guess she didn't.. Or had a text to reply to at the waitress stand. Next point, the waitress stand. This is not where servers need to be gathered. 3-4 at all times are there. I know that you only get paid $2.18 an hour and probably get meal money deducted like I do and you only work for tips.. As I do. But we don't need to see you guys talking and laughing it up. Go in the back, or in a back room if you have nothing to do. One thing I will say about the servers (females), very easy on the eyes. They must have a prerequisite. And they were all very beautiful. The one blonde girl I saw, she made it a point to work the room. Well done Hun... But like I said, it was dead. Save that for when it's busy or for Hooters. So our food.... We ordered the Appetizer Sampler. It was good, nothing to get excited about, except it was almost $15.00. For our main meal, we both got burgers. My son ordered the Cowboy burger, with fries and I ordered the Bourbon Black and Bleu burger, and asked for Onion Rings instead of fries. Pet Peeve #2.. If something is going to be more if you order it, it is polite to let the customer know (me) that there is an upcharge for a substitute. Even if the menu states that. When I got my bill, the Onion Rings were an extra .99 charge. I was assuming they were going to be, but the average guest isn't aware of this. It takes five seconds to tell them that there is an additional XXX charge for XXX. They are going to order it anyway, but it's just nice to know about the charge instead of getting the bill and seeing it. It also shows the Server knows the menu. We got our food, quickly after we finished our app. It's nice to get your food after you're finished with the app, not during or even after (yes, I have been served an app after my main course was served). Burgers were good, cooked to order and were very beefy. They were yummy and I will certainly order another one when I go back. And I will go back and see how the service is during busy/peak times. So all in all, it was a great experience. Our bill was 54 and I tipped 10.00.. Just a bit over 18%. I think that 4 stars are just a bit high for a rating and would actually give it a 3.5 stars. I definitely recommend this Applebee's and I will go back like I said

Food is what you expect, however the servers are always very nice. A regular stop for good affordable food.

The lighter fare here is wonderful! This sirloin over spinach and whole grains was magnificent! Had it with additional green goddess wedge salad. Good job, Applebee's! They also make a mean Old Fashioned. Not too sweet.
(4)Vivian C.
We usually go to the Paramus Applebee's and just happened to be in the Kinnelon area...First impression was the place was dirty...Carpeting was dirty with food under the tables...We sat in a booth and the tables were sticky...the waitress was very friendly and helpful...The manager walked around the place but never said anything.... We counted 4 times that he had passed by our table...Food was the usual Applebee's food...Except the nachos appetizers are now with brisket or pork...no more beef (chili).....We chose brisket... It was slimy beef with a spicy cheese covering it.. When we were getting ready to leave I caught that same manager checking me out...even after I caught him, he continued....GROSS, just like the giant stain he had to on his shirt!!!...And to top of the skeevy (yes I'm using this word) feeling I had there, the ladies bathroom smelled like a men's urinal!!!...I had to make sure I was in the ladies room...I walked out with the sounds of my shoes sticking to the floor....Giving it 2 stars for the nice waitress...

WORST. PLACE. EVER. horrible service, management sucks, food sucks, everything sucks. Do yourself a favor and don't come here
(1)Melissa D.
I've been to many Applebee's throughout the years but this one in particular is beyond a pleasant experience ! Wait staff is always polite and on the ball . Many times our drinks are filled without even knowing and if anything is slightly wrong they smile and gladly fix it . Not making you hesitate one bit . And the deals and able to change parts of our order are always making us want to come back ! Not to forget curbside is a breeze :) fast and friendly and they never miss a beat on getting it right ! So if your looking for your local family restaurant or just a place to grab a drink and watch the game this is your to go place !!
