About Taco Bell
Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.
The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.
Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I can't believe this is the same place I ate two years ago that I was so excited to return to. Disappointing. I saw "Combo plate," which means I can sample a bit of everything. I asked what it was - tostada, enchilada, taco, rice & beans, perfect. I ordered it with no cheese at all and no lettuce. So when it came out, sans taco, but plus cheese on the enchilada AND beans, I politely returned it to the counter (this isn't my first rodeo, after all, since some people can't respect some dietary requests), and was greeted with apathetic, borderline RUDE service. I am nice, even when you add cheese, I ask you to politely fix it. I was informed that it was a CHEESE enchilada. So, please, servers, if I order a plate with no cheese, could you make mention that the enchilada has JUST cheese in it, so I can order something else? They fixed it with a bean burrito, but had to be reminded twice to bring my taco. The whole meal was just rather bland. I used a LOT of hot sauce on it all, and when the server brought me my taco finally, she commented sarcastically if I had enough hot sauce on there. Well, apparently not enough to spice up bland food they were serving me. The rice was mushy, clearly overcooked. The beans were missing salt and something else I couldn't put my finger on. The tostada had a very thin layer of beans "painted on it" and the chips were really not tasty. I won't return here next year. I'll go to Taco Town instead.

Always a hit when we go back to visit family!

Just a warning they don't take credit cards. Great Mexican food though, good prices. Not a lot of menu selections, but the pork chili they smother enchiladas in is awesome.

I'm still on the search for a decent "Mexican" place... Failed again:( This place is packed! (12:30pm) but sadly, food is not great. I mean, can you really go wrong w/ a basic beef burrito?! I'll post a pic of my burrito and you be tfe judge. Can't believe I spend $3 for this burrito and an additional $.50 for the sauce.

My mom and I went here for dinner last night. We quickly realized they don't accept CC/DC. I mentioned to the girl at the counter we were from out of town and we had never eaten there before and what did she recommend, she looked at me like I had two heads and said "I don't know." I settled for a combo plate and a side of green chili, my mom got the smothered burrito platter. Their hot sauce is heavy on the tomato and slightly spicy, I covered my entire plate in it to add some kind of flavor. Mom mom didnt finish her food because it was so bland. We won't be giving them any more of our out-of-town money. To say we were not impressed is an understatement.

We were really looking forward to enjoying Scottsbluff Mexican food. Having grown up in the area and traveling all over the country, we've never found anything quite like it. Sadly, we were beyond disappointed. Not only did they forget to prepare our food, but what we found in our take out bag upon returning to our hotel was actually pathetic. The taco's had decent flavor, however they are grossly overpriced for such a scant amount of meat. The bean and cheese burrito had just enough beans and few shreds of cheese to make the tortilla stick to itself. The smothered burrito, enchilada, tostado, beans, and rice really weren't much better. Hoping that they had a bad day, we returned with the wimpy burrito. We were told that the owner had made our food and we were sent on our way. Well, okay, be like that. Dig your own grave people. There are too many other options, don't waste your money (or calories) here.

Taco De Oro is a great little Western Nebraska Mexican joint. It's not unlike other things in the area (like Taco Town). It's inexpensive, and the food is very good. I had a taco, and some cinnamon chips, both pictured above. They were both very tasty. Next time I go, I will likely try the "TDO", ("Taco De Oro") which is the most deluxe taco on the menu, alluded to on their sign. Their pork chili and smothered enchiladas seem to be popular. In this case, a "Smothered" enchilada is one that is covered in Taco De Oro's homemade pork chili. I didn't have that myself, but it looked pretty good. Keep in mind when going that this isn't exactly the cutting edge of all of Mexican joints in the world. For Scottsbluff, it's as good as you can expect, and I'd argue that it's a little better...

On the spectrum of Mexican cuisine, this is out in some weird Nebrex-Mex territory. And it's not bad, per se. It does taste good. Or at least hit my salt craving. But it's not even Americanized Mexican food. It's like someone's grandmother - the kind of grandmother who never misses a potluck and always brings home an empty dish - tried to reproduce Taco Bell by hearing about it over the phone. So on the level of comfort food - it works. But there's something just odd about it...
(2)Andrew H.
One of my favorites. Don't forget to bring cash. It is definitely a Nebrex-Tex but the pork chile is very flavorful.
(4)Anne O.
It's alright, not too shabby....I've had much better, but, when I'm in Scottsbluff I usually go to TDO....just seems pricey for the amount of food you get....
(3)Sarah A.
My all time favorite Mexican restaurant! I love the smothered enchiladas and fried tacos (made with flour tortillas!) and the pork chili can't be beat. If you like taco salad with pork chili, get their signature dish: the TDO.

My friend's wife raved about this place and their amazing Mexican food. Even went as far as to say that it's better than what we have in California. Fuck that! Everything I tried was bland except for the soda. It seemed like the place to be though because the place was packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. Local fast food joints there weren't all that great.
