I thought that I had written a review for Wheatfields before; I guess not. This is one of my favorite places for breakfast. I love the Lobster Cake Benedict. It is very delicious. I have tried a few of their other option. Of which there are a tun. I also like the Morning Glory Muffin. If you are going on a Sunday I highly recommend that you go early. They get very busy.

I have only been to Wheatfields once before at the Papillion location. I was super excited to go back to Wheatfields, even if it was another location. They have a wide varity of desserts. I was overwhelmed and so excited to choose a dessert! It literally took me 30minutes to finally decide on one dessert. Also, on Mondays the desserts are on sale because they are trying to get rid of the extra/overflow of desserts they baked on the weekend. I decided to order the peach cobbler bars. I was so sad when I saw mold on top of my peach cobbler bar when served it. I sat there and waited for the waitress to come back. The waitress came and said, "it's not my fault mold is on there". But it was her fault for not seeing it and serving it to me. She took off the dessert from my bill and asked if I wanted another. I said no in fear of being served more moldy desserts. Overall, the Waitress was very friendly, but we arrived at 5:30 and didn't get our check until 7:30pm.

I've come to this restaurant dozens of times over the years. I would always try to stop in when visiting relatives. And now that I've moved back to Omaha, I find myself here with my wife and friends at least once if not twice a month. I've never given a five-star review to a restaurant, so take me seriously when I say if you like great food that tastes homemade and fresh and love a broad menu without spending a fortune, this might be the best place in Omaha to accomplish all those things. It's very casual with low to medium prices, great atmosphere if you want a fairly quiet restaurant experience, but you'll totally fit in as well if you want to bring a lot of people or have several children. If you're a cyclist, a popular Papio-Creek bike trail runs right by this restaurant. So if you want to combine a bike trip with a restaurant or snack stop, this is perfect for that as well. While there lots of excellent things on the menu - including the mashed potato and meatloaf Sunday, I almost always end up buying some version of the Ron's fried chicken with coleslaw and heavenly mashed potatoes. And I'm not kidding when I say heavenly. When the plate arrives, it always has three pieces of fried chicken on the right, and a healthy helping of mashed potatoes on the left with golden gravy that might as well be candy. I stick a forkful in my mouth and literally close my eyes and breath in the moment as I allow all my taste sensations to fully savor and remember this moment in all its glory. IT IS THAT AMAZING! I catch myself reliving those moments and pining for my next trip to Wheatfields at least weekly. One of the great joys of my life is getting to go here often after moving back to Omaha, to re-live that mashed potato moment over and over and over again. That's LIVING! And that's to say nothing of the fried chicken, which moist and not greasy on the outside. They even I think drizzle honey on the outside to make it even more pleasing. And the bird itself is juicy and perfect. I also enjoy the lemonade a ton, but the gravy and fried chicken and freshly squeezed lemonade often served in a tall glass all at once can be almost too sweat. You've been warned, Patrick

YUM!!! From the moment I walked inside and tried a small sliver of free sample chocolate chip cookie with marshmallows bar, I knew this place would be good. Went with the extreme French toast with cinnamon and apples and it was a real treat. Outdoor seating is a nice perk. Will definitely eat here or order baked goods here again.

I've eaten at the Wheatfields in Old Market several times. The food has always been good. The Wheatfields on 103rd has a nice layout. I looked up and noticed some of the trim could use some dusting. I ordered the crab cake benedict, which I've had before. What can go wrong with a dish that has crab cakes sitting on hash browns topped with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. I don't expect the crab cakes to taste like they would at a seafood restaurant sitting on the bay, ocean, etc. The crab cakes were just fine. The poached eggs, however, were overdone. I poked them with my fork and nothing came out. I was very sad. The yolks were pretty much done, which made it difficult, well impossible to spread what should have been gorgeous, creamy yellow yolk onto each bite. The raspberry muffin was good. Baked treats at Wheatfields are always delicious. Two stars seems rough, but I think it's appropriate especially when comparing this one to the one in Old Market. If you have never been to Wheatfields, you should go, but I recommend checking out the one downtown.

I had a very nice experience here. The wait staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean. Service was prompt. The staff was attentive to an infant in our party. I had the salmon salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly. I would happily come back again. The price was reasonable.

Going down hill. Used to be my favorite place but I can not being myself to dine there anymore. The staff is low and the owner is a terrible person. I know personally of him spitting into a pie in front of costumers. Never will I go again. It's seriously my last straw. Used to be my fav, now it's banned!

I really enjoy eating breakfast and brunch at Wheatfields. This location is very busy on the weekends, but it is larger than the other two locations and has some nice outdoor seating. They also take call aheads. I have tried several of their specialty pancakes, waffles, and french toasts. I also really enjoy their salads and potato casseroles. On a recent visit I tried one of their specials, the lobster cake benedict. This contained lobster cakes topped with hollandaise on a bed of creme brûlée potatoes. This dish was one of the most decadent and savory dishes I have ever had. I am obsessed with their creme brûlée potatoes and they were made that much better by the lobster cakes and delicious hollandaise sauce. They also have great baked goods. I had a muffin with my meal that was good and I also purchased some awesome cookies for a party later that day. They were buttery, perfectly frosted, and looked beautiful. Their strawberry wedding cake is one of my favorite cakes ever. I would recommend this place for breakfast or brunch or if you want to treat yourself to a baked good or need some for a party.

We went here for breakfast early (9am) on a Sunday morning. Even so, the place was well on it's way to being packed. We sat on the indoor patio. Nice if you like sunlight, but bad if you have back issues or are expecting. The chairs are brutal with no back support at all. The food itself was ok. The cherry struedel was the highlight. The eggs and hash browns were ok, the bacon was sub par. Overall this meal is better had at IHOP, except they don't have the fabulous bakery. The cake we had for my baby shower was made here. The Strawberry Wedding Cake and everyone loved it. I recommend skipping the restaurant and just going straight for the bakery.

We used to enjoy brunch here but had a few bad service experiences. Wanting to give them another chance, I called to inquire about their menu and dietary questions. The manager, Trent, informed me that "the customer should know what's restricted, not the staff, and we can't know what's vegan. But for gluten free, we can do things like leave off the hollandaise..." Really? It's been a while since I made hollandaise but I've never used flour... We likely will not be back unless they make some serious changes.

I love Wheatfields. Huge portions that taste like home cooking. I would have given 4 stars, but they recently fixed their portion sizes on the casseroles. For awhile they served a dink portion in a bowl. Now, I can hardly finish my KC potato casserole. Thanks for adding value back to the meal! I also noticed that they now substitue pot roast for sirloin in the KC casserole. Not sure if it's because it's cheaper, or they just wanted to put their own spin on things. I like it, even if I do prefer sirloin at the end of the day. Love the sticky bun sampler. I also love that I can order a meal off the special sheet and it comes with the sticky bun sampler or a huge cinnamon roll. Larger folk should steer clear of that option. Actually, larger folk shouldn't eat out in general. It's kinda like an alcoholic going to a bar. Anyhow, that's all for now.

My fiance and I asked our hotel for a good place to for breakfast and bakery items. Wheatfields was her suggestion and I'm so glad she told us to go here. We ended up eating somewhere else but stopped here to pick up some baked goods and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was simple and chocolately so it worked for me. The tray pecan sticky buns was insanely good. We ate them for the next three days and they never tasted stale or old. Plus the tray was only 12 bucks. We also got some huge lump of chocolate with caramel and pecans in it. It was only a couple of bucks too. Everything there was super cheap. I asked if they had priced the items wrong. Nope, everything there was so reasonably priced and cheap. I couldn't believe it. Especially for a place located downtown. Welcome to Nebraska my man told me. If this is how it is, I know I'm going to like it there!

I went for brunch on a weekday and the service was great. My waitress was very attentive. I got the fried chicken and meatloaf special. The fried chicken was awesome! It was juicy and perfectly sweet from the honey. On the other hand, the meatloaf was average. The sauce was too sweet. Without the sauce, there wasn't any flavor in the meatloaf. For breakfast/brunch food place, it was a bit over priced. I like their bakery. They have a lot of variety.

Look----what can I say----solid place and awesome food. We went for Easter morning and had such great food---and such great service---we plan to go back every Sunday after Church. Portions are HUGE---so consider sharing unless you are super hungry or a big eater like me :). The bakery items are soooooooooo fresh. Pastry gets 5 stars---and food a solid 4. PS--manager or head gentleman seating patrons does a bang-up job moving folks into / out of this gem. If you have not gone---give it a try. Cheers

They messed up our reservation time... So they squish us together at two separate tables. No separate check?? What is this - Omaha circa 1980? Then the waitress scolds us for not leaving a big enough tip! Seriously? Sadly we've been reuniting here for at least 20 years when we come into town...no more. We are finding a new brunch spot that understands customer service.

In Omaha, this is AS GOOD AS IT GETS for breakfast fare! There is no better place for the price. It's popular, so there is usually a wait, but I used to come from out of town for this food. Delicious, heaping portions in a friendly environment.

  • Matt M.

This place is just not as good as the Old Market version. Yes, it is bigger, but it feels more like a blue-hair, 70-somethings tuesday morning hangout than the really good bakery with great breakfast that the Old Market version offers. The staff is still great, the service, quick, but the feel is just different. I'm sure you'll enjoy the food just as much as downtown but the extras dont compare.

If yelp was food alone, I would give wheatfields a 4/5. Unfortunately this is the 2nd time I have had the same waitress who shouldn't be working there. She is horrible! Over 20 minutes before we got our drinks, messed up our order (after letting us know she would put our order in AFTER she helped a party of 10) and then at the end made sure to let us know the tip amounts are on the receipt. She also was assigned to my private party in the mini party room. We were having a shower and we were done eating and she did not clear any dishes, my mom had to stack them in a pile. Everyone's orders were messed up and she had no idea what the muffins or soups were Of the day. I don't think i'll be back.

Long story short today we ordered a to go order from Wheatfields and as every time we place an order to go we usually have a problem! Today was no exception! The order was not ready on time it was the wrong order which they said they would change even though it was their error! We ordered a quart of coleslaw and got a pint of bad potato salad! The chicken was good as usual but sometimes the hassle isn't worth it!! We all agreed it was a communication problem but I got a little more angry when we got home and found the potato salad! We'll definitely think carefully before getting another order to go!!!! I really don't think Wheatfields as a whole cares very much anymore!!!

Extremely disrespectful to my friend when she asked if bread had dairy. Was told the people working there weren't "dieticians" so wouldn't know these things... Also, owner yelled at the waitress for daring to ask about the dairy... Would never want to go somewhere where people were treated like this.

    (1)
  • Brittany L.

The owner yells at staff and instructs them to be rude to customers who ask which menu items are suitable for vegans or people with food allergies. (Not asking for them to make special food, just which items they are able to order) They point out a phrase on the menu that says they are not dietitians. They obviously don't even know what that word means.

I came with 3 friends & have never been more offended or embarrassed at a restaurant. I am vegan & politely asked the waitress to help me select an item on the menu that might fit my needs. We decided on the portobello sandwich but she wasn't sure if the bun had dairy so she went to ask. She came back & stated that not only would they be unable to accommodate me but got "yelled at" by Ron (the owner?) for trying to help me. She was instructed to point out a statement on the front of the menu to me that says something to the effect that "their servers are not dieticians". Every restaurant I have been to has been so helpful so me & my friends were shocked. Needless to say, I will NEVER go to this restaurant again. If anyone has special dietary needs or requests, you'll have to go elsewhere in order to avoid being chastised.

Cleanliness 4 Service 4 Food 3 Likelihood 3 1-5 (5 Best!) 3.5 After being away for over a year, we decided to give Wheatfields another try. We stopped on on Sunday for lunch. We were seated in the front sun room, 2 large adults and one small adult. No way we were going to fit comfortably there. We had to ask to be moved to a "grown up table." Perhaps if a table on each side was removed there would be enough room for guests to be comfortable. The serve was incredible, she did a good job. Thank you! The food was flavorful, and good portions. I had what I ALWAYS get there, the hot turkey meal. They are using their original gravy recipe again, GOOD! My food was not hot. If my meal would have been as hot as the extra gravy that was brought to the table AFTER my meal was delivered, it would have been most happy. I think it sat in the expo too long, waiting to come out. Overall, it was a better experience than out last visit. I would consider going again. I long remember the days that WOW food and WOW service was the standard set by THIS restaurant.

I was here on a work related visit. My co workers had been here before and wanted to try it again. It would be my first visit. Cute place with everything well placed. When you walk in you enter the bakery part. Then you are seated in the dining area. There is really a lot of choices on the menu. I got the Quiche, that came with fruit and it was very good. My co worker got the Strata with a cream brulee potato thing they offer. I tried some of his ,did not love it,but it was good, just not worth the calories. My other co worker got biscuits and gravy. She said that it tasted just OK. But, the look of it was so awful. It was all stuffed into a bowl and just looked so unappetizing. She could not eat it. Sorry to say that our server was miserable. Not happy at all and took it out on never refilling our drinks till we had to ask. They were not even that busy as we had come around 11am. I did get a Peach Pie from the bakery to go. I brought it all the way back to Phoenix. It was fantastic! The Bakery is awesome and it was less than $8.00. I do not know if I would go back for lunch, but all of us loved the Baked goods we bought afterward.

This place is big and normally crowded. I've ordered soup and chicken wings and cinnamon roll. I'm a fan of their pastry!

  • Khoa T.

Pros: Lots of items on the menu to choose from. Cons: Lots of items on the menu to choose from. Their menu is like a children's book--simple descriptions and big, colorful pictures of food. Really though, whenever I'm here I spend way too much time trying to find the perfect thing to eat. I've gotten the French dip and the reuben sandwich from the times I've been here and both were A-OK. Nothing too special but there's enough food to put me in that Goldilocks-not-too-much-not-too-little state of fullness.

Being from California. The crab cake Benedict is amazing. Better than Beverly Hills. It's one amazing choice. Good stuff. I have to say. Something is going on over there lately. It could be the cooks or something. But be aware. The service is so so.

Breakfast was good! The bumbleberry jelly for the toast is made in-house and incredible. Not too sweet, real fruit, just incredible. Bacon was kinda meh. Thin, nothing special. Expected more from this place since they are known for breakfast.

My experience here was okay. I wouldn't come back again, but I don't feel like it was a waste of time. The wait was pretty bad, and the place was beyond packed. That's probably partially my fault for coming in on a Sunday morning. Parking was odd. The parking lot was too full, so we ended up having to park at a nearby park and walking all the way to the restaurant. Seems like they should think about expanding their parking lot, but I don't suppose the walking killed me either. The time I came in probably has a lot to do with everything as well. The waitress was extremely busy, and refills for the drinks came about 20 minutes after the drinks were actually empty. Food took about 40 minutes to make it to our table. This was after the 25 minute wait to have our orders taken. The entire restaurant was really loud, and I felt pretty squeezed together to the people around me. The food itself was okay. I had a hard time deciding what to eat, but I'm a picky eater, so that happens more often than it should. Usually, though, at a breakfast place, I normally have TOO MANY options to choose from. Here, I was having problems finding even one thing that sounded good. Everything just seemed too fancy and piled on with too many topics. My friends were finding multiple options, though, so that's probably just me. Everyone got their food, and it was definitely filling. Nobody was able to finish their food because it just felt so filling. The food was okay, but not spectacular. Everyone agreed that they'd eat it again if it was put in front of them, but they wouldn't come out of their way to eat it, and with the Sunday crowd that day, "coming out of my way" is exactly how it felt. Maybe it'll be somewhere to return to someday on a downtime. I'd go again if it's somewhere my friends really wanted to go, but it's not somewhere I'd seek out of my own choice.

So very disappointed in our first experience. The food was fine but nothing amazing and the service was also ok. Our table got the Grandma scrambler with cinnamon roll, the Avocado chicken wrap, and two waffle kids meals. The adult meals were fine and had decent portions. The kids meals were a joke! It came with half a waffle and no sides for $6.99. We at least expected it to be a large half portion but it was half of an average sized waffle. It was another $2 to add a kids drink and another $1 to add one piece of bacon or sausage. This all added up to $10 per child (ages 7 and 10)! And to top it off, they were both still hungry. We do not plan on revisiting this place or recommending it to anyone.

We just finished breakfast here and will never go back... My husband ordered pancakes for 10.99 and received what would be kiddie pancakes anywhere else. When he asked if this was normal they assured him it was...This wasn't our first time here and anyone knows this place is typically known for their serving sizes. Long story short, incredibly overpriced for average food at best.

Came here before I left for the airport. Didn't really want to eat too much for fear of throwing up so I thought I'd be safe with a fruit bowl. Their fruit bowls are about $4 for a tiny bowl. Total rip off. The service was horrible. We wanted a booth and it took forever for the waitress to clean the tables and seat us. Also, a couple came in after us and was seated before us. They do have a lot of goodies in the bakery area so maybe I'll go back for that.

  • Kevin G.

4 of us had lunch there today and it was disappointing. I had a Belgium Waffle with 2 pieces of bacon for $10.99, waffle was small and over priced. The gals had the special peach cobbler combo, egg's were nearly uneatable. The fourth had a Strata that was okay, but nothing special. Waiter was funny, but slow and place really wasn't that busy. Will probably not be back anytime soon.

Wow wow wow wow wow....I can't say enough good about this place. If you're in Omaha, you HAVE to check it out!!! You walk in to a huge bakery with homemade desserts as far as the eye can see. My god. It was almost overwhelming. We were quickly seated, and our server greeted us instantly. We ordered mimosas and water, which arrived a minute later. My husband got the biscuits and gravy, and I got the crab cake benedict. Let me just say that it was THE BEST eggs benedict I have ever had...the cakes were so flavorful, the sauce was perfect, and to make it extra amazing, it was all served over a bed of cheesy, onion-y, seasoned hashbrowns....OMG. Incredible!!! The flavors were just absolutely out of this world. Afterward, we had to get some baked goods to take home. I had heard everyone raving about their wedding cake, so I got a slice of that, as well as an M&M square and a slice of Reese's cheescake (and by slice, I mean pretty much the whole cake....the portions are HUGE!!). Everything was soooooo good. The wedding cake was everything everyone made it out to be, the cheesecake was rich and peanutbuttery, and the M&M square tasted like a super-dense cookie....just awesome. If you go here, bring your appetite....the menu is huge, and so are the portions. I can't wait to go back to Omaha to try some other items on their menu.

From out of town, I tried Wheatfields breakfast and lunch at a training for work. I loved the tropical iced tea they have. On a return visit to Omaha, I had to stop and get that wonderful tea. I also tried the frosted cinnamon rolls, and they were great too. Luckily I'm not on a diet.

Went here with my family and was disappointed because previous visits were pretty good. The lunch crowd on a Saturday left the restaurant messy and dirty. Tables were not bussed and wait staff was behind in keeping up with customers. Served food late. Lots of customers waiting. Our food was poor quality for the high prices. Microwaved sandwiches with soggy bread, messy presentation with pools of pickle juice soaking the sandwich, stale bread, tasteless apricot chicken salad. We think this restaurant is on a downward spiral. The Shadow Lake location has become sub-par in terms of quality and freshness of food, atmosphere and customer service.

My favorite breakfast place in Omaha. You can always get a table, there's something on the menu for everyone and it is guaranteed to be delicious. Their creme brulee potatoes are so good we ordered from their catering menu and brought them to Thanksgiving last year! They were able to modify their fried chicken for me to do it without bones and be a chicken breast instead of thighs and wings. Their baked goods are all delicious and I love that they give samples. Their mother earth scrambler is amazing and one of my favorite things on the menu. My only gripe (and I eat here anyway knowing this) is that all the food is loaded with butter and not healthy. Still, it's what makes it taste good!

I normally do not review restaurants but felt it necessary to do so about our experience here today. I am from Denver, Colorado and I was planning a bridal shower for my best friend who is getting married in may. She is having a small wedding in the Dominican republic and not all of her friends are able to make it there so all of the parties that we have here is the only real celebration she will have with all our friends. Ok, so I called a couple months ago to make reservations at Wheatfields. The people I talked to were very helpful and told me they would make a reservation for us. Two weeks before the reservation I called to confirm to make sure everything was still good to go. I stated that I wanted to reserve one of the party rooms for us and I would pay the deposit. The lady I talked to said that she recommended that we just did a partial party so that no deposit would be required. She said we would be on the patio and everything would be fine. PERFECT! So I thought. So on my way to Omaha (I was at the airport) I got a call from a man saying he has been trying to call me all day and it was busy. He said he wanted to confirm my party and he sounded like he had no idea what was going on. I told him we had reservations for a private party of 14 people at 10am. He confirmed and said everything would be ok. Well, this morning, I showed up 15 minutes early to make sure I could get some party decorations set up before everyone got there. I came up to the front desk and told them about my reservation and they looked shocked. They said that we had to wait for all the tables that were in the room to get finished eating before we could go in there. We were patient and said ok and waited for the customers to get done eating. They finally led us into the rooms where the tables weren't even pushed together for us. I asked if we could move the tables together and they acted like that was against the rules.... That was only the beginning. We talked them into setting the tables together and then our waitress started getting our drinks. (Keep in mind that we weren't able to decorate at all because everyone was already there) it's all good though and we were happy to all be together. Our waitress was awesome though. She was good through this all. I would give her 5 stars and the management negative stars. Before we even ordered, we were told we had until 11 to get out of there. That's only 30 minutes for us.... We haven't even ordered yet. The bride to be was not very happy. They offered for us to take some seats inside the restaurant and that's where they ended up moving us. :( it was so loud and we did not feel special at all. The manager was VERY rude to the bride to be and basically said he would rather us go somewhere else than stay there. He kept looking at us when we were eating and just acted like we did something wrong. Not sure what we did that was so wrong, we were just trying to have a good bridal shower for my friend. Anyways, we ended up making the best out of it and gave praise to the waitress. Bless her heart she didn't deserve to have this happen either and she handled it way better than the management. We didn't ask for a discount our anything and we sure as hell didn't get offered one. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant my whole life. It's got great looking food and would do so well if the manager actually cared about the guests. Whew. That was a long review. Hope no one else has to go through that. The bride to be deserved to be treated so much better.

I love this place as you can tell from my check-ins. Whenever I go to a breakfast joint I always HAVE to order either sausage or bacon (preferably both). Their standard breakfast dishes including the stratta, the omlettes and quiches all set the bar very high. After multiple visits here, I felt it was time to venture outside of my comfort zone on the breakfast menu and order one of their Waffles with the fruit of the month. That breakfast was something special. Since I am quite close by, I decided to stop here for lunch one afternoon. The place wasn't as packed as breakfast and the fried chicken item that I ordered was kind of a let down. I will stick to breakfast and the bakery in the future since that is where they seem to excel.

What a shame. After being at the wheatfields at the Old Market three times in a month and finding each time wonderful food, I brought an old high school friend here for her birthday. Food was not good- the cook at this location must not be very good- I went on Friday 23 August at 12 noon- my stratta was dry- like it had been reheated several times. My friend ordered the chicken nachos asked if they could leave the sour cream off the dish or put it on the side- at first they told her it could not be done- finally the waiter came came and said it would be ok. Not sure if the cook got mad about it or what but the cheese on it was dry to a crisp and the chicken also was very dry - again seemed done on purpose. Let in an oven way too long. My friend did not complain- but rather ate very little- I ended leaving mine. What a shame- if I could give 0 stars I would but this system makes me give it a one. I stopped last week at a friends who also told me that they notice a decline in quality. Must be the day of the week and the cook that day. Another thing- before we even got done with our meal the vacuum cleaners came out and everyone started cleaning around us- made me feel like they wanted us to leave! very rude!

Needed breakfast before heading out of town. On my previous trip to the Big "O" I visited Wheatfields in the Old Market. This time I discovered there was one nearby right next to Ingredient (have many back home already reviewed) which wasn't new to me. I was VERY impressed by the bakery aspect of this place. Thank goodness I would be traveling all day or multiple items would have been purchased. After waiting almost five minutes I was noticed and seated, offered a menu and coffee . . . what I needed. Huge menu plus an extra legal sized sheet with specials or items which wouldn't fit on the regular menu. I'm dealing with it ok. I always ask what is recommended or what is popular. I never like to hear everything because rarely is it the case. I hear everything. I also don't like to discover that servers have not at least tried most items. Another negative. Well I settled on an omelette because they are supposedly extra fluffy. Before I go where you know I'm going I will say the coffee was pretty good but not $3.00 a cup good. The ciabatta toast was nice but cold. The homemade cherry-something spread = Awesome and I don't like cherry spread. OK, the omelette; ordered with cheese, bacon and spinach. It was not fluffy possibly due to the pound of cheese on top. It was not folded which is OK but that is a great place to put NOT TOO MUCH cheese. The spinach was not sautéed in the pan first to keep it from overpowering the whole omelette. Having a pound of spinach didn't help either. Bacon? What can go wrong with bacon - nothing, almost saved the day. Maybe if the pound theme would have continued the day would have been save. So my guess is that to justify $13.00 for an omelette too much cheese and spinach was added. That or the cook doesn't know how to make an omelette. In any event I know not to go to Wheatfields for breakfast and if ever I need to do so in the area in the future, I will go next door to Ingredient. I might stop in the bakery though!

The breakfast here is very satisfying. I like how they make their own bread and jam and their oatmeal was warm and fresh. Their eggs Benedict are very appealing! The service can get better, but I left the place wanting to go back (which means they did their job!)

Pros: Pretty good breakfast food, great bakery Cons: Dirty, poor service, somewhat high prices I ate at Wheatfields many times for breakfast when I lived in Omaha. Food quality wise, it's about a four. Many great meals. Good pancakes, good eggs, good sides. The bakery has many delicious items to choose from. So why the low rating? The service and appearance of the restaurant is extremely poor. The restaurant always looks dirty with tables never being bused, things scattered on the floor, and just an overall appearance of not caring to create a comfortable dining environment. This is further shown by the careless staff who seem to have never been trained in any areas of restaurant management. The prices are somewhat high for this total package. So I guess I could say that the food (breakfast at least) is about a four, with the service and appearance a one, and the prices about a 2.5. There are better breakfast places in Omaha.

Ordered chicken salad and later found two twisty ties mixed in the salad. I can't wait to see what is in the pie!

Two stars is way too generous for 3 and 4 dollar glasses of tea and fountain pop. When you order soup, you expect it to be HOT not tepid. The chicken salad sandwich was indeed stuffed in the bread, but what did that matter with no flavor except real mayonnaise. I also think it very wrong to serve coffee with the name of so and so running for such and such office. Every time I took a drink of coffee I got Stothert rammed down my throat, and Im not a fan of anyone at city hall, but I think campaigning should be left to radio, television and waving on the street corners, not high priced mediocre restaurants. Definitely will not return or take out of town visitors here. Oh yeah, one more thing, what idiot thought up the parking? The cars parked up by the building can hardly get out because cars are parked directly behind them along the curb.

    * UPDATE * The Oktoberfest recipe potato pancakes are back for Wheatfield's "pancake festival" in January. Had them again yesterday, and they were as fabulous as last time. At last the 3-month wait is over!

Love the Ron's Honey Fried Chicken and mashed potatoes!! Get the Blackstone Salad with it it is so good. The menu is so huge and everything is wonderful it is always hard to choose what you want to eat. The desserts here are to die for!! If you are on a diet close your eyes when you walk in the place, you will gain 10 lbs. just drooling over the cakes, pies & pastries. If you want a GREAT cake for a party, you must get theirs, it is the BEST cake I have ever eaten, No Lie!!

5 Stars for all bakery items. I order cakes and cinnamon rolls from this place exclusively and we've never been disappointed. Quite the opposite in fact: One is usually applauded if you walk into a party with a Wheatfield's cake. 1 Star for everything else there (i.e., food, service (lack thereof), prices, behemoth menu, weak coffee, ambiance, and cleanliness). I don't think I've ever sat at a clean table, and everything seems sticky. The hollandaise sauce is a bland, slimy monstrosity. The scrambles and egg bakes (I forget the official names) are usually cold and one-dimensional. To be fair, every now and then I order something that isn't a colossal disappointment (pancakes, eggs/toast, pot roast, or crepes) and it makes me at least feel a little better about dining here. That being said, the service is always slow, I don't "get" their dining room and sun room layout, and why am I paying this much for coffee??? In the interest of disclosure, we usually eat here when we are picking up an order from the bakery - mostly out of laziness and forgetfulness. Since the opening of ingredient next door, I'll probably be hitting them up for my bakery-pick-up meal. I realize my review is a little disjointed: but that is how Wheatfields makes me feel. All over the place and confused. How can they get some things SO right - in such a way that anchors them in Omaha food fare, yet continue to do some things so epically wrong?

Went to Wheatfields today for lunch with the wife and kids. Everything was as expected for the food. Good food, not exceptional. Here was the issue. The service was good. Our waitress seemed to know the food and the menu pretty well. We have a one year old and a four year old. Typically we order from the kids menu for the four year old and just a la carte for the one year old. The waitress indicated that this was a good idea from a price standpoint. We ordered one pancake and two sausage patties for the one year old. When the bill came, the ONE pancake was $4.00 and the two sausage patties were $4.00. Effectively making our lunch for the little one EIGHT FREAKING DOLLARS plus tax. Man, my lunch was only $10.00. I mentioned something to the manager and he acted like this was the norm and that he had heard about this from other customers in the past. Christ, know your menu. If a locally owned restaurant wants to keep customers coming back, this should not be typical. We might go back to Wheatfields but certainly not with the kids.

Loud, crowded, and average food. The Sunday after-church swarms had descended on the place when we arrived around 10:30, but we actually didn't wait very long for our table. It's basically just the Garden Cafe of yesteryear, all dressed up with a new logo. I hadn't been back to Omaha in more than 9 years, and if you'd brought me in here blindfolded for brunch, I would've sworn up and down that this was indeed the GC. I did quite enjoy my sourdough 49'r pancakes with the lovely raspberry butter. My dining mates each had a fluffy omelet, and they thought they were only fine. One's hash browns were a little on the lukewarm side. Our waiter was good - no complaints in that department. Generally, a decent choice for breakfast in the Big O.

It's tough to imagine an afternoon in which you set out to find some pie, eat it, and have that experience be the low light of your afternoon! In a country in which an object's American character is judged in comparison to apple pie, how can such a quest for such a delicious dessert go so wrong? Here's how. This lovely Sunday afternoon, my wife and I decided to go find some pie. She's team pie, I'm team cake, but I think we can all agree on devouring delicious desserts. We didn't know the good places for pie in the area, but after browsing the Internet for a while and seeing some reviews, Wheatfields looked promising. So we set off with dreams of pies and tarts and crisps dancing in our heads. Upon entering, the lobby looked promising, with breads and cheesecakes and other assorted pastries as far as the eye could see. The hostess quickly took us to our seat, and that's where things took a turn for the worse. We browsed the menu of biblical proportions while noticing that the table was not only greasy, but it had food particles on it as well. Not wanting to judge a joint solely on its first ill impression, we ordered a slice of cherry pie and a bowl of peach crisp and waited in anticipation. The service was prompt, the waitress was friendly, and as we were about to dig into our desserts...strike two. Every piece of silverware was covered in a greasy film, so was my plate, and my wife's fork was just plain filthy. The waitress promptly got her another fork, but the experience was starting to get uncomfortable. The topping of my crisp had been clearly mixed in with the peaches for quite a while so that the "crisp" was actually soggy, while the filling in the cherry pie just looked too shallow. I was hungry so I ate all the crisp, but truth be told, I didn't really care for the taste. The advertising seemed to imply that the peach offerings were seasonal and fresh, but the peaches in the crisp tasted no better than from a can. Add to that some weird flavoring that was in there, and this was not something I'd order again. After finishing up, with the relative filth around, we didn't feel like sticking around. We got our check in a reasonable amount of time, noticed that others had to wait forever or seek someone out in order to get theirs, and we were out of there. It's a shame that my impressions of Wheatfields ended up being negative. As I mentioned before, there were a lot of items on the menu, and I'd like to try a lot of them. But when a place doesn't place a premium on cleanliness, how much can you trust their food? And even assuming you can, why would I want to eat off a filthy table and silverware again? I have heard that there are other Wheatfields in town, and maybe someday I'll give another one a try. As of today, though, I'm just not sure I'll ever be back again. If I do return, it'll likely be for the promise of the food they have to offer, a desperate search for that pie in the sky, or a take out item from their bakery.

My wife makes fun of me for this, but this place has my favorite food in Omaha. I love the ribs and agree that they are the best in Omaha. Of course the desserts are great too. I think the menu is a bit confusing and think they need to try not using every font ever made on it, otherwise I would give it 5 stars.

So I've eaten at both the location on Pacific and the new one in the Old Market. While their desserts are wonderful (mmm Wedding Cake!!), the rest of the food is average. I would honestly compare this place to a localversion of The Cheesecake Factory. Huge menu, large portions, unmemorable food. I tend to prefer places with smaller menus that specialize in a few categories, since those restaurants tend to have gems on the menu that catapult my tastebuds to a new level of appreciation. Here, this never seems to happen. For my most recent lunch, I ordered the Honey Fried Chicken lunch-sized with a side salad and a mango smoothie. Somehow, the smoothie was awful and drowned with sugar, the salad was average, and the chicken was forgettable. I did, however, enjoy the mashed potatoes and cole slaw that came with the meal. This came to about $20 or so for lunch. Dessert-wise, this place has a phenomenal bakery. Food-wise, it's the average local eatery of Omaha. Good for brunch and taking out friends for lunch.

If I could give it negative stars I would. Sat for 22 minutes on a Saturday morning around 9:30 a.m. June 1. It was busy but not crazy. One waitress was running all over the place doing a great job. She noticed we were not waited on so she found our waitress. The waitress took our order. Sweet roll for starters and then main breakfast course. I ordered a diet coke but got a regular coke 28 minutes into sitting down. I asked for a new diet coke and waited another 5 min. and nada no diet coke! No diet drink and she was still in the dining room chatting it up with a table. Not sure if the waitress knows how to say to a table "hey I really would like to talk but I need to help out these guys over there". When your busy you have to know how to deal with wind bags. I have never just left without speaking or getting our order. Our complete order was in the kitchen but I was so tired of this by then we just got up and went across the street to a diner and we were served immediately and out of there in 15 min. Recommendations Fire the manager Fire the wait staff that waited on our area Coach waitresses on how to deal with a crowd. Be polite but move on and wait on your area. It's not a social hour for waitresses If someone gets something delivered to their table and its wrong. Fix it immediatley

We came to the Old Market location with the kids. It was very crowded and loud when we arrived at 12:30 but calmed down quite a bit after 1/2 an hour. The quiche was good if not stunning and came with a terrific blueberry muffin. Portions were large at this place and the menu was quite extensive. Something for everyone, if a little heavy on the traditional eats. Yummy pie and surprisingly gingery ginger bread men! The kids enjoyed their food and the friendly waitress said that they were well behaved which was very generous of her.

Elaborating on Kerry's review, Wheatfields was Ron Popp's third restaurant experiment after Garden Cafe and the Farmhouse. Having seen the evolution of Farmhouse and Wheatfields, it seems to go something like this: Hey, I learned a new cuisine! Let's make a restaurant for it. Oh... but let's still have an abundance of sweets cuz that's awesome. How about greasy spoon specials? And by specials, I mean an entire menu of them. Hey, at least one page of the menu is devoted to that new cuisine... The special cuisine at Wheatfields was crepes, and indeed, they did start out pretty rock star. These days they seem to be just average. There are a few things on the menu that are solid, but having gone there this morning for breakfast, I swear they just keep getting greasier and greasier, and they trade quality for abundance. (Don't like that cinnamon roll? Let me double the icing). Plus, as other reviewers have pointed out, the prices seem to keep going up. I was *shocked* at the price of the bill today, $65 for 3 people? Yowza. That's Seattle prices for Pittsburgh diner food. Nuh uh. Bring back the reasonable prices, and this is a 3 star review. As long as you find the right things for your diet, they actually have some great dishes. Plus, I love the lemon bars (nobody does them better), and some of the other bars are great to munch on too. And the hot chocolate!!! I had that this morning. Photo to be uploaded shortly. :)

I've been here twice in one day, and wish my four star review could count twice. Brunch consisted of a breakfast wrap sandwich -- scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and I think hollandaise sauce, but it was a bit different, all wrapped in a tortilla shell. Delicious! The menu has a ton of items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also included is a page that lists breakfast items available all day, every day. Though I wouldn't eat here every day as I'd soon be too huge to fit through the door, I'd definitely make it a regular stop. Later in the day after some walking around town, I came back for pie. Their chocolate creme pie is quite good. For $3.99, a mini pie can easily serve three people. Staff in the restaurant and the bakery were both extraordinarily polite and helpful.

Came here with a couple friends. First time visit. Food was okay. Service was realllllllyyyy slow and forgetful. Would walk by our table multiple times before bringing us what we asked for. It should not take 2 hours to grab a "quick" breakfast.

We have tried this place twice and will never go back. The bread on my chicken salad sandwich was stale. How can a bakery serve stale bread? My husbands fried chicken was re-heated and not very well at that. It was awful. The waiter tried to make up for the bad food with a piece of cake but we wont be going back. Oh, and it's dirty and dated too.

I truly love this place! Every time I visit Omaha, Wheatfields is the go to weekend brunch. I've never been disappointed with anything I order there. They have a great menu selection. I had their French Riviera Omelette which is "filled with spinach, 4 strips of bacon minced and pan puffed with cheese artichoke spinach chutney. It's topped with jack cheese, hollandaise, and fresh diced tomatoes. Garnished with a bacon strip and avocado slices. Served with hash browns & fresh baked muffin." IT IS AMAZING! I had their espressos, bakeries, and desserts. None were disappointing! Oh! Lastly, I decided to stop in for lunch one time and ordered their special which was beef stroganoff. One word...WOW. It totally hit the spot on that cold chilly afternoon.

I do not understand what people like about this place. Went for lunch the other day, expensive and worst meal I have had in a long time. Ordered onion rings as an app. They brought out 6 onion rings! Everything tasted like it came out of a box, which I am confident it did. Will not be back!

Every time I have eaten here I have ordered something different. I usually don't do that but everything is so good. I think I finally found my usual order - the cheeseburger sliders! Their buns are milk buns and so fluffy and delicious. I heart you Wheatfields!

My friend and I stumbled upon Wheatfield's during a recent trip to Omaha. The service was excellent, our server's recommendations for brunch were spot-on. The food was delicious, the portions were very generous, and everything was reasonably priced. If I lived in Omaha, I'd probably be a regular at Wheatfield's.

We ordered 2 traditional breakfasts and were generally pretty pleased. I wasn't too excited about the prices we paid but the food was edible, overall it was a pleasant experience. The orange juice wasn't fresh squeezed and the pancakes were fairly bland, however, the mimosas were yummy. We got there on a Friday right before the lunch rush. Right around 11am it started filling up and by the time we left most tables were full.

Second time at Wheatfields and very poor service both times, in different ways. The first time, the waitress was very unprofessional, complaining to us multiple times how she had been working ALL morning without a break (it was only around 10 or 11 at this point), and confiding in us that she was going to go sneak a break after she brought us the check, so if we could wait around for a few minutes she would really appreciate it while she rested. We were polite, but shocked at the way she was talking to us. The food was fine but not memorable. The second time we were seated right away on the patio, but waited several minutes before being acknowledged by a very harried looking waiter who said he would be with us shortly. Then several minutes later a different waitress brought us menus and took our drink orders. About five minutes later the first waiter comes back and says, "Did she help you already? Okay good." We then sat around for another ten minutes or so before the waitress walked by again and noticed us, saying "I'll have your drinks right out." We waited another ten minutes or so, still hadn't received our waters, let alone ordered, so we got up and left. Also, the menu formatting is horrendous.

Oh my flaming diarrhea! My body has never rejected a meal so violently ever in my life! Wheatfields was recommended to us by a friend who had never been but said "everyone seems to like it there." We gave it a shot. We laughed about how the interior seemed like my grandma's house...with booths. The menu is ridiculous! There is WAY too many options on the menu, plus a menu of specials, plus some other extra page of stuff and all of them were littered with typos. Our table was covered in menus! It took us a long time to order since there was so much to read. Crepes, meatloaf, knockwurst, lasagna, and salads. You tell me where the theme of the restaurant is. In the end we decided to try on of the fondues. Please...listen to me...DO NOT GET THE FONDUE. Beef, chicken, shrimp, bread, and veggies. Sounds good right? I thought so. The fondue was pretty much cheese dip in a glass bowl with a votive candle. A votive candle? Yeah. Whatever...it was okay. Directly following the meal my stomach was all "whoah...that was a lot of grease and cream." I went back to my hotel and didn't eat anything else and only had water. My stomach started really hurting. So did my wife's. Then the fun began. Approximately 6 hours after finishing our meal we experienced what can only be described as my digestive system saying "get this out of me now!!!" It was awefull. Its still awefull. I ran to the bathroom between the 1st and second paragraph of this review! My wife says she would go back for a salad...I don't know what to think. I was so excited for a fun meal...just wasn't prepared for the repercussions of it. Too much grease? Cheese? Undercooked food? Bad shrimp? Who knows. Either way...something wasn't right.

If the food weren't so tasty, Wheatfields would get a one-star review from me, primarily based on the service: slow, inattentive, and filled with mistakes. OK, so it was a Sunday morning, and the place was moderately busy. But there was certainly no shortage of waitstaff, as I saw lots of servers and kitchen folk milling about. Upon arriving, there were several empty dirty tables that could have seated me had they just been bussed and wiped down. The host told me it'd be "just a moment" so they could clean a table. Meanwhile, I watched and waited, and waited... No attention was being paid to the dirty tables. Finally someone came out from the kitchen and did a quick wipe and clear. Even then, it took several more minutes for the host to figure out that's where I should be seated. Finally they brought me to the table, which was only half-wiped (salt and crumbs still strewn about), and had no utensils or napkins, which I had to specifically ask for. And then i waited some more, well over five minutes until I flagged another server down to tell them I'd been sitting here for a while with not so much as my coffee order taken. They finally sent my rather bored-looking server over, and I was able to get my coffee and my order placed. I asked for water, but it never came. Meanwhile, surrounding tables (being served by others) who'd sat down AFTER me were already receiving their orders from the kitchen. Apparently it takes much, much longer to create a simple sausage/egg/potato wrap than it does to create quiches, omelets, and eggs benedict, which is what persons at the surrounding tables had already ordered and been served. During my wait, I asked a second time for water, and finally a glass came. Finally, my wrap came, along with the side of sourdough toast that I'd ordered. You'd think he would have noticed that he was serving me a plate of dry toast, but apparently not, as I had to quickly flag him down to bring me butter and jam. And then I remembered that the menu stated I'd be served baked apples as a side dish. Yet again, I had to flag my waiter friend down to ask for a missing item. Finally, as my wrap was nearly all eaten, my baked apples came. OK, so the wrap was quite tasty, and that's what prompts me to add a second star to my review. It was an egg/sausage/bacon/cheese scramble that also had buttery mashed potatoes slathered inside the wrap, which bound everything together and made the whole thing soft and delicious. The baked apples were pretty good, but the sourdough toast left a lot to be desired. it was rather thin and over-toasted... no softness left whatsoever. The couples that had sat and ordered after me were already paid and gone by the point I got the server to bring me my check. I debated whether to approach the manager about my checklist of things that went wrong, but I just didn't have the energy. To recap: -Took to long to clean a table for me. -Took too long to get any attention once seated. -My food order took much, much longer than the orders around me. -Had to ask twice for water. -Toast was served dry, had to ask for butter/jam. -Server forgot the included side order of baked apples. The takeaway: Put creamy mashed potatoes on your breakfast wrap. As for Wheatfields, you're taking a chance on the kind of service you're going to get.

Wheatfields is my favorite restaurant in Omaha. The main thing I like about it is the uniqueness of their dishes. I always try to order something new from their expansive menu. I've only had a couple dishes that there that I wouldn't describe as "the best whatever I've ever had". My wife always gets their fried chicken, which is the best fried chicken we've ever had. They also have one of the best bakeries in town. They have free samples of their bakery, who doesn't like that? Other reviewers have complained about the service but I've never really had a problem with it. This is the original location and I think it's the best. This location does all the baking for the other locations and then ships it to the others, so it's not quite as good at the other 2 locations.

I used to LOVE Wheatfields, but for the past year and a half, it's been letting me down. I ordered a special off their daily menu that was supposed to be hot bread stuffed with turkey and Swiss Cheese. When I cut into it, I was like, hmm, the cheese seems really firm. I took a bite and the cheese was ice cold. It's like they didn't put it in the oven long enough. I was there a month ago, and ordered the chicken salad sandwich. The chicken salad was completely dark meat. CHICKEN SALAD IS NOT A MEANS TO DISPOSE OF DARK MEAT, PEOPLE! The wait staff seems tired and stressed. I really used to love this place. I would bring out-of-town guests here, and they would be wowed. But it's consistently been going downhill. Go back to your old self, Wheatfield's! I miss you!

My 2 friends and I had a wonderful Fondue dinner at Wheatfields, with steak, chicken, veggies and bread all dipped in cheese. There was so much food, it took all three of us to eat it. We also tried the dessert fondue with fruit and cake dipped in chocolate. Yummo. We thought the price was fantastic for three people! Our waiter was so helpful and just a wonderful young man! The menu was * huge*! So much to choose from. And the cakes and cookies in the bakery were amazing. We will return to this restaurant!

Uh, my brethren diners must have burned off their tastebuds in a Big Fred's excursion gone horribly wrong (for the record, also one star). Let's highlight the lowlights: Counter Service- Jesus, does this move slowly. Never have I seen so many people moving so dramatically to such little effect. The longer my wait becomes the more I visualize myself as the Native American guy with tears streaming down his face in the Ad Council spots about the destruction of the environment in the late 70's-early 80's. But I digress. The clutter- Who buys all this stuff? I swear the oven has a random cake generator that just cranks out oversweetened, underleavened pap all day and all night. It is everywhere! No Russian Army, let alone all of West Omaha, could consume the amount of baked goods cranked out by the magic oven. And the menu! The refrigerator must be the size of a landfill. Not the place where they do a few things and do them well. The cuisine- OK, I get it. We are not concerned about cholesterol or healthy living here, but seriously. I like mayonnaise, but that does not mean I eat it by spoonfuls out of the jar (that means you club wrap, tuna salad butter bun). Every once in a while a cup of Wisconsin Cheese soup might sound good, but there are days where the soup selection consists of four cream-based delights and meat chili. Can I get that with a side of gravy? A quick inventory of some of the rest: Chocolate Chip Cookie- Tastes like somebody blew up a brown sugar factory. Butter Bun- Large, soft and unsatisfying, like a fat girl's breasts. Where is the energy? Eggs- been awhile since I had an omelete, but the eggs came out of a half-gallon carton. Salad- NOW I know what Meat Salad is. Apparently Californians cornered the market on lettuce. Mango Chicken Soup- Mango Chicken Soup? Need I say more? I just do not understand the inFATuation with this place. Oh, the black and white and chocolate raspberry bars, respectively, are not too shabby. They warrant the star.

When in Omaha, one does Omahaian things. Today, was that day. I dined today at Wheatfields - a [local] Omaha favorite - and, thoroughly enjoyed it. This establishment is a fantastic brunch spot that offers a tremendously diverse and rich menu featuring some pretty darn good stick-to-your-ribs midwest fare. Our table enjoyed: -Creme Brulee Waffles. And yes, just as good as it sounds. -Honey Fried Chicken. Always a family flavorite ( & it came with a free piece of pie!) -Bacon & Egg Frittata. Quite possibly some of the best brunch eats I've had. -Angel Food Muffins. Devinely inspired. Devilishly delicious. Service was slow - and, our server's attentiveness was weak; but, he was gracious and accommodating and managed to rustle us up whatever we requested. The problem was most (always) our requests were simple matters that could have been avoided had our waiter been a bit more observant and in tune with our table's needs. (When I lived in Omaha, I dined here frequently and enjoyed this place as a delightful go-to Sunday brunch location. It is comforting to know that 10 years later, that's still my sentiment.)

Our last lunch in Omaha and we were whisked away here as we were told this is THE restaurant we need to try before we leave. We were kind of scared. I was traveling with 6 others in my company and we are all from Southern California, so we were freaks in our own way. : ) But this is THE place if you want the sweetest fried chicken with honey, mashed potatoes so creamy you sure there is 1 stick of butter per serving with a chicken gravy, a fried pork chop sandwich (yes - doesn't that sound crazy) or a hamburger steak burger or a pastrami sandwich with so much cheese that it looked like the kraut. Wow. And they take us here before we get to the airport. Oh my freaking god. I ordered the fried chicken and my meal even came with a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie. Yes. Pie included in my meal. How fat kid is that? All this for $9.99. The Southern California equivalent of this place would have been Hof's Hut. But Hof's on crack. It was pie slices as big as my head, some sort of sugery white cake that they called an italian wedding cake? with giant strawberries.... Thank goodness I paid the $10 to workout this morning at the hotel!

Let's talk about food!! This place has it all. You can go just for breakfast, you can go just for lunch...and you can go definitely for brunch. This place has all types of food, mostly the stick to your ribs yet gourmet. When you walk in, you are first impressed by the bakery and all of its goods. It is really hard to get past all of the cakes, pies and cookies. Once you are seated, you are handed a menu which resembles some instruction booklets for bike assembly. Lots and lots of different kinds of entrees, salads, soups and everything in between. I have had the quiche, salads, and sandwiches here...all are good. My mother loves to just get the soup sampler and a huge piece of sour cream chocolate cake. While it may be the place where many diets go to die....this is a place to save up for...calorie wise. lol

I'm giving it 2 stars because the bakery is not bad. As for breakfast, it was below mediocre. I have tried it twice now and I will not be going back, except to buy cookies or a pie from the bakery. The omelette was flat and over-cooked and the french toast was made from dense thinly sliced bread that was dry and overwhelmingly eggy. The farm-cut potatoes were old and looked and tasted like they had been sitting out for a long time. I have tried the lunch tuna salad sandwich which was dripping with mayonnaise. Every meal I have ordered here has been very disappointing. I'm tired of forcing myself to find something redeeming about this restaurant. Too many loyal customers mistake loyalty for taste.

This is my second time here and once again Wheatfields did not disappoint! I ordered the Greek salad with chicken and it was probably the best Greek salad I've ever had. The balance of flavors are perfect, the feta is not too salty and it was very large!

Wheatfields is an overwhelming place to eat, to me. The menu is VERY diverse...it's actually packed with different foods to order. So packed, that it's really easy to miss something, and it's very hard on the eyes. I believe that if you inspect the actual menu items though, a lot of them are based on the same thing, with just one or two ingredients added or removed. I also find the staff unfriendly.

Oh how I go back and forth with you Wheatfield's!!! Here's the nitty gritty folks! Etc: -Weekends: Show up early or late---the place packs up like a chicken house--I hate lines--not worth it -Service: hit and miss---mostly hit for me (I ate here with my grandma and had one of the best servers I've had in a long time!) Food: -Coffee and cheesecake--not worth the price -Make a lot of things from scratch--all their dressings (ranch and honey mustard are really good), bread own chicken, soups etc. -Cookies and cinnamon rolls--D to the E licious!! -Honestly--it's a good place to go to please picky eaters because their menu is so large A couple interesting things: -Why are there always cats outside? -Flowers are beautiful outside -Why do they sell dog biscuits by the main door????

My sister loves wheatfields, she's mentioned eating there often. So when I came to visit her this time we stopped in for a Saturday night dinner. The place was packed and I took this as a good sign. We waited about 15 for a table and were finally seated in the very snuggly packed dining room. They're big on casseroles (which I'm leary about when dining out) but have an extensive menu. I chose the cheese frenchee, which is three triangles of bread and cheese with fries and salad. Of course they didn't have it that night so the waitress recommended the gourmet grilled cheese and I agreed. I got house chili and french fries with it. The chili was so/so. It was watered down and didn't have a lot of flavor, nothing special here. Grilled cheese came, it's 3 pieces of marble bread with very very little cheese inside (especially for that much bread). The sandwich was cut in half and one side didn't have any cheese in it at all. It was greesy and a not appetizing. Dessert is their specialty though so I ordered toffee cheesecake. They were out of course. I went with blueberry topped instead. The cheesecake slices were HUGE and pretty flavorful but on the rubbery side, like they'd been just barely over room temp all day. My sisters reeces cheesecake was just plain awful. I was not impressed at all.

Wow - I'm surprised this place only has 3 stars overall. It does a bustling business! When I was there for brunch, the place was packed and we could hardly walk through the bakery part to get to the restaurant. The smell of the sticky buns or cinnamon rolls or something totally took over the place. If I wasn't in bridesmaid bootcamp trying to fit myself in a bridesmaid dress soon, I would have totally imbibed. Anyway, I loved the atmosphere, loved that this place is local to Omaha (although they now have several locations), and loved the food. The service definitely could have been better, but i rarely hold that against a place.

First and foremost, Monday is "dessert day" which means they sell anything and everything dessert for $2.50. Quite a deal compared to $5.00+ for many of the items. The dessert is hit and miss, though miss is "pretty good" and hit is "incredible. give me more now!" The servers are nice and fairly knowledgeable, and the menu is gigantic. As the other reviewer said, the potato casseroles are right off the old Garden Cafe menu, due to Ron Popp being the owner. Don't waste your visit with a burger or something along those lines, get something different, and you'll be rewarded. The mashed potato wraps are excellent, as are the potato casseroles, quiches, and the salads as well. The swiss hotel salad is a great choice, especially if you get a dinner that has it as a side. The atmosphere is nice, you just feel right at home at Wheatfield's. The sun room in the front is nice but the seating is cramped, the chairs are too big for the tables or something. All in all, I can't imagine that someone would not enjoy a visit here. Make sure to give the whole menu a long look. It's worth the extra time to find a hidden gem you wouldn't be able to get anywhere else!

Man, this place brought back so many fantastic memories! Non-locals may not know that there used to be a fabulous restaurant chain in Omaha called the Garden Cafe. There are still a couple around, but don't go to them. They were bought out by somebody or other and went rapidly downhill. A few years ago, the founder of the Garden Cafe opened Wheatfield's, which shares the virtues of the old Garden Cafe even down to many of the same menu items. Going there for lunch with my mom and baby daughter the other day was like jumping back 15 years to my own childhood. The menu is huge and the food solidly Americana, freshly prepared and generously portioned. The desserts and baked goods are not as good as I remember them, but I think that's because my tastes have matured (and the Chocolate Moose in Plattsmouth has spoiled me for other people's desserts forever). My Kansas City potato casserole (man, I've missed those things, even though I'm not really a big fan these days of steak, cheese, or potatoes) was every bit as good, though, and I'm looking forward to going back for brunch sometime to see if their brunches are as good as they used to be, too. (The Garden Cafe was THE place for breakfast back in the day.) My only real quibble is that the place is perpetually packed and therefore can be quite noisy, but it's a good sort of noise, I guess. Alive.

This place pretty much has the worst service in Omaha. I've been talked into going here a few times throughout the last 10 years or so, and the food is just okay (Ron Popp just keeps starting new restaurants like the Garden Cafe, but each incarnation has gotten crummier and crummier), not as good as the old GC days, and the prices are sky high for what you get. The only halfway decent thing about Wheatfields is the bakery, and that's definitely not consistently so. Their cakes are *usually* good, except when they taste like a dry old sponge. I had a major craving for cherry pie when I was pregnant, and it was waayyyyy too sweet, and the crust was no better than a frozen pillsbury crust from the store. The servers usually act like you're an inconvenience and like you should be thankful for your refill or that extra napkin....The two stars is only because of their Sour Cream Chocolate Cake. I might get it for takeout someday if they still have their discounted desserts on Monday, but besides that, I can't think of a good reason to come here!

Mmm... when i ate meat, i ate lots of rons honey fried chick'n. That aside they have have this amazing tomatoe, spinich, and cheese sammich. i always seem to have the same server, kinda crabby, but not terrible.

This is my favorite brunch destination in all of Omaha. The menu offers a lot of options and the bakery offers even more! I can honestly say that neither myself or anyone I have been there with have ever had a bad food experience. I'm not sure what the other reviewers are talking about when they have complained about the bad service; I thought it was great. This is one place where you will regret not getting dessert though so it is worth the splurge. I dare you to see if you can leave without grabbing something in the bakery to go as well. If you can than you have more self control that I do...Enjoy!

I have an incredible sweet tooth and can stomach more sugar in the morning than most people can all day, but I'll admit that I met my match in Wheatfield's Crème Brûlée Waffles. There was actual crème brûlée custard smeared all over these things, topped off with delicious fresh fruit and what appeared to be home-made whipped cream. I think I recall going into sugar shock. However, it WAS quite delicious, and although I would probably try something a little less intense next time, I know I'd have lots of options to choose from...their menu looked amazing! I really wish I lived in Omaha so I could go and try more of their excellent sounding breakfast tasties...this is right up the alley of anybody who wants an excuse to have straight up dessert for breakfast.

  • Holly B.

The soup was amazing. But nobody in my party ordered dessert!!!! I regretted it immensely later. I should have bought something while they were in the bathroom and stuffed it into my purse before they came back. Note to self: do not eat with those people again, they were freaks!

Yum! I can't get enough of this place. I keep finding myself drawn back. Everything taste so homemade and like your Grandma made it for you. This is not a place to go when you are trying to watch your calorie intake. I love the muffins, breads, and cookie. All of their items on the menu are great and the staff is so warm and friendly.

Wheatfields has two locations. Do NOT go to the one in Papillion unless you are getting take out. The location at One Pacific Place is great. They have to die for desserts, make great comfort food, serve beer and wine and have a huge menu (there may be a few too many items on the menu). There are numerous places to sit -- in the summer they have outdoor seating.

    (4)
  • Russ C.

My recent visit was actually to the newer Papillion location. I had the black forest potato casserole, attempting to relive the glory of the old school Garden Cafe potato casseroles before they went to hell. It didn't quite do the trick. By that I mean it wasn't even close. First off, the prices here are ridiculous. The total before tip was 47.00 for two tater casseroles, the "chubby" omelet and three cups of coffee. For that I better get enough food to take home and eat for the week, but there wasn't even enough to fill me up (except for the chubby. That was enough for a family of four). I should never leave hungry after eating a potato casserole. Ever. The coffee? 3.50. And you had to chase down the waitress to get a refill. The only bright spot was the hollandaise, which wasn't instant. I could tell by the fact it had broken on my friends omelet. Mine held together and wasn't bad. I guess I should stick with Dixie Quicks.

Average. It's been a few years since I was here and I recall the food being a lot better. We shared the sweet roll sampler, swimming in toppings, nuts, icing, leaving at least 1/4 cup of icing on the plate. Husband and I ordered omelettes and we both were disappointed. I ordered French Riviera. Swimming in Hollandaise and added cheese. His had 'no flavor.' It was overcrowded, noisy and the food just lacked that real freshness that is actually easy when cranking out breakfast. I ordered rye toast which I had to ask for twice. Overtoasted and not at all tasty. I'd skip this place...unless excess is what you like.s

1 star is much higher than I would like to rate this. I should have seen the writing on the wall. While being seated, I overhead the manager "arguing" with a table near ours. After receiving our drinks, our neighboring table asked to speak with the manager and were obviously unhappy. I ordered crab cakes benedict and a cinnamon roll. The roll had approximately 5000 calories from the frosting alone. From what I could tell it tasted ok, but there was no way I could finish without a cardiologist nearby. When the benedict arrived, I had to drain the grease from the "hash browns". The poached egg was overcooked and had a solid yolk. The crab cakes were completely disgusting. They were soggy, most likely from being frozen several days ago, and the fishy taste made me want to vomit. Even average crab should never have this strong of a fishy flavor. I made my wife take a bite to make sure it wasn't just me. She spit it out and gave me a tongue lashing for insisting she try it. That's love! Because I was still hungry, I ate a few more bites of the hash brown goo. After waiting too long, the waitress stopped by. I informed her that the cakes were rancid and there was no way to eat them. She promptly went and got her manager. Now the fun part. The manager came over with the body language that I was bothering her and she didn't have time to hear my issue. I was very polite, but let her know I was strongly unsatisfied. She asked if I wanted anything else instead, I declined. I truly just wanted to inform her so she could check the quality in the kitchen and 86 them if there was an issue. Then I received my bill and my meal was still on there with no discount. Again she came to me and stated that their policy is to not discount food. I let her know that my policy is not to pay for food that is inedible. She stated that she had talked to everybody else that has ordered them and they had no issues (FALSE). I gave her an option, either we don't pay for my meal or we don't pay for any of our meals. Then she went to talk to the owner again. When she came back again, she said "Well you ate the hash browns didn't you?" Are you kidding me!!??!! I could hear the gasps from the neighboring tables. At this point I gathered my things, left a tip for the waitress, and walked out. When I reached the car she came out and said that they will take my meal off of my tab which is what I requested in the first place. It shouldn't have taken a scene to get a $10 inedible meal removed. Be careful. If your food is horrible, they will just try to give you more of it . . . it's their policy! PS: While writing this, my stomach is churning and I have the cold sweats. Looking forward to a great day in bed.

When walking into Wheatfield's you will probably have the bar set pretty low. The place has a weird atmosphere and decorations. I don't think it has a theme in particular... it ranges from deer antler chandeliers, to random paintings of fruit hanging on the walls. I should probably back up though... the first thing you will notice when you walk in is the ridiculous amount of pastries, cakes, cookies, etc. If you need some help breaking your diet, this is the perfect place for you. Once you get a menu, prepare to read for like 20 minutes. It's one of the longest menus I've seen before. Truthfully, it's too many choices. The meatloaf sundae has become my go to item; I highly recommend it. When people come to town to visit, we make sure to take them to Wheatfield's. While it's my wife's and Imy favorite restaurant, we have gotten mixed reviews from people we've taken there. Most have loved it as well, including one saying it was the best food he's ever had in his life. We have had a couple of just average ratings, though. So far, I have not had anything there I don't like. Appetizers, meals, desserts, it's all been excellent.

This is one of the WORST restaurants I tried in my life. This place is on a whole new level of disgusting. Eat there and you might not be one of the lucky people who avoided food poisoning...so assess the risk of being disgustingly sick from their horrible food before deciding to visit Wheatfields. I want to warn people about this awful overpriced place because their customer service attitude is disgraceful too. This restaurant needs to be shut down. They charge $14 for a sandwich that is gross or $16 for a greasy cold spoiled piece of chicken and even more for the rest of the smelly disgusting dishes they serve that we didn't even touch. When we informed the rude waiting staff about the issues, they just laughed and said their restaurant policy is to never offer refunds, then the manager who can barely speaks English swore at us and in very very abusive way refused to return our credit card! Afterwards, we were threatened by the greedy owner who came out and made some very rude remarks to my wife that I can't repeat here. Never eat there. Avoid this terrible terrible place and their disrespectful and horrific staff at all cost.

I have never had a bad meal at Wheatfields. The menu is huge, portions are huge, and prices are reasonable. I have tried several items on the expansive menu, including a weekly special if it sounds good, although I've barely scratched the surface of what they offer. I always come back to Ron's A.M. wrap, crepes Aphrodite, or Bjorn's croissant, and usually split a giant iced cinnamon roll. I've also tried some desserts from the bakery, none of which have disappointed. Even though we have gift cards elsewhere, we always end up coming back here for brunch!

How anyone could give this anything less than five stars completely blows my mind. This is by far my favorite place to eat in the Omaha area. Wether you are in the mood for breakfast, dinner and drinks, or just coffee and dessert...you can never go wrong at Wheatfields. They have a gigantic menu, so it might be wise to look it up online and decide before you sit down, unless you want to wait forever. Some of my favorite items include; 1) meatloaf sundae- it is tasty meatloaf served over mashed potatoes with corn, gravy, and BBQ sauce drizzles over it and then topped with an onion ring. It is a huge platter, definitely enough for two meals. This is seriously one of my favorite things that I have ever put into my body. You HAVE to try it! 2) the Eggstacy sandwich- This is just your typical egg, bacon, cheese, and mayo sandwich served on marble rye toast. It is served with hash browns that are topped with cheese, sour cream, and chives. This is my go to for when we go at breakfast time. 3) They have wonderful quiches, crepes, hundreds of home made desserts, fondue, home style cooking, casseroles, bugers, etc. The service is always wonderful, and I cannot imagine leaving here disapointed. Wheatfields is definitely a must try.

Boasting a huge menu of probably 5 or 6 pages, its best to have an idea of what you're craving before coming to Wheatfields. This is not for the indecisive. I found myself mindlessly fumbling through the menu in hopes of making a decision when really I felt like I would starve if I took the time to read every page. I opted to check out the specials menu since it only had a handful of items and made my decision much easier. They have tacos, meatloaf, nachos, mashed potatoes, and a massive bakery. The menu items were an interesting combination of everything imaginable. We started with the mini tacos which were VERY mini, you get about 14 for 4 bucks and they are like the size of a round tortilla chip stuffed with meat and topped with veggies. They were an interesting take on a taco since the whole thing was the size of my fingernail I pretty much used them as chips to dip in salsa. Very tasty though. I ordered a fillet of Tilapia off the special menu which was put over a scoop of mashed potatoes and topped with holandaise sauce. Served with a size of 3 measly stalks of asparagus. One stalk was really big but 3 pieces?! The breading on the fillet was soft and not crisp and the hollandaise gave almost a melted cheese flavor. It wasn't very exciting and was really a pretty mediocre plate for being on the "special" menu. The mashed potatoes were very bland and the asparagus was just steamed asparagus. I was expecting steamed asparagus but plain mashed potatoes? just throw in some garlic at least! This plate really reminded me of a small town diner with a chef that hasn't eaten much outside the traditional american meal, aka what I grew up with. The nachos were huge and I should have probably got them, but I would advise splitting them with at least 2 people. I only tried a little bit of them so I can't really review them however, they did make me rethink ordering the Tilapia. Service was great our waiter was very friendly and thoughtful of our experience. If I go back it would be just to try the desert from the bakery. Otherwise I feel it would be pretty easy to outperform the dinner plate I ordered.

I stopped in after the lunch rush for a late lunch. Wheatfields I don't believe was here "back in the day" so beyond a dear friend loving them I wasn't sure what to expect. it is a very clean place with a cheerful staff, easy to see the sign but the building is actually BEHIND the building I thought it was from Pacific St. there is parking as you pass the front entrance and its not a bad jaunt but its wide enough there to drop off anybody that might have mobility problems, after I drooled over the bakery part, I was seated right away and after I looked at everything ( menu is extensive) I decided on my old standby French dip and fries. French dip came with swiss cheese. awwweesomme. I had the fresh brewed unsweetened but fruit tea which was very tasty. I love iced tea. i'm so glad when its brewed correctly. this was. the sandwich was huge. the bread fresh and both the roast beef and cheese and au jus were in perfect balance. definitely one of the "yum I want that " on the French dip scale. the fries the thin kind and very crispy and both were hot. plus! my server was a sweetheart and checked on me often for refills on the tea. prices are reasonable would definitely bring family back here since the menu is so extensive and the portions are large there is something for everybody. I did buy a few take home things but at this point have not eaten them. will update later..

I ate at the Old Market location on Saturday, March 21 and was very disappointed. I typically love Wheatfields but not on this day. I ordered the ham and swiss sandwich which was supposedly on a whole grain bread, it came on white. They told me that I couldn't get a half sandwich and a cup of soup, had to order the entire sandwich. Service was pleasant but very slow.

Been here several times, mostly for breakfast. They have a HUGE menu! I've always been satisfied with what I've ordered, but never blown away. The portions are all generously large. Bakery is fantastic, I've gotten cinammon rolls here, and they are the bomb.

I'm no Martha Stewart so when it comes to desserts I've always relied on restaurants like Wheatfields when I have house parties. I bought my usual pack containing several slices of 6" brownies, etc., (I cut them up in smaller squares and they are perfect for mini finger desserts - voila!). I was also looking for frosted cookies (for the young ones) and they didn't have any frosted cookies so the gal (Jess) offered to give me some of their famous white frosting in a large cup. I thought that was a great idea! Even better she didn't charge me for the frosting since she "offered" (this time around that is)! Thanks Jess! You saved the day!

Had a bad experience here a couple weekends ago. We had a group of 7 for lunch. The waitress seemed to be very frazzled and rushed. We all had something different and not one person was impressed with what they had ordered. The salad and salad dressing that I had was warm. The wrap was ok, but lacked flavor. Someone in our group ordered the chicken salad sandwich and took one bite and did not like it. It was warm, and had chunks of very dark pieces of meat. She right away and very politely told the waitress that she did not like this and she ordered something else. The waitress proceeded to ask every single person at the table if they wanted the chicken salad, and everyone of course said no. When the bill came I was surprised that they had charged us for this. I very quietly asked the waitress about this. She went to ask her manager and next thing I know he is at the table making a scene about it, in front of all the other customers. He was very rude, and unprofessional. He said they do not take off for food, when their is nothing wrong with it. I am yelping about this to let other customers know that if you ever order something that is not good, or to your liking, you will have to pay for it anyway. I always try a restaurant more then once as everyone has an off day and maybe just try something else. But I will never be back here due to how badly we were treated by the manager. Sorry but customer service matters.

Wonderful bakery (strawberry rhubarb muffin was great). Lunch was pretty good, but not spectacular and was inconsistent. I had a really good salad, but my spouse's Reuben wasn't very good. The service was slow (we were at a table with 7 adults and 3 kids so maybe that is why?), I had to flag down the waitress a few times, which is always annoying. They have a varied menu- I would go back, especially with a large group because there were so many options.

I like Wheatfields. Why? Dessert for breakfast!! I got their Berry Creme Brulee waffle -- it's like eating dessert pudding smothered on top of a buttery waffle and a big giant scoop of whipped cream on top. On top of the waffle, is a massive amount of berries and bananas that gives you just enough of a justification that you're not completely clogging your arteries. I didn't work out the courage to order it, but if I come here again, I would love to order RuthAnn's Potato Chips & Chocolate with Marshmallows. Even if I ordered 10 fruit plates, I don't think I can work out any amount of delusion to justify eating it.

I just had the worlds driest day old cinnamon roll that was passed off as fresh. This while the owner stood right there. Quality has definitely dropped unlike the price. Historically I have been a big fan of wheatfields but this is just disappointing.

Excellent breakfast and service great! Shayla was our server :) We were greeted warmly and seated right away. I ordered an americano and she could tell I needed my coffee fix so she made it for me promptly and it was perfect. Our food came out quickly and it was delicious. I had the strudel heaven with scrambled eggs and bacon. Now off to the Husker game......GO BIG RED !

Avoid the "Hair Pie." More about that later... How does this place keep up a consistent reputation? This place runs average to below average. We have eaten there twice and on several occasions picked up casseroles or desserts for home. It's kind of hectic/busy. Parking can be ridic. I think instead of trying to offer so many varieties of items, they need to knock back the menu and offer fewer, but better dishes. Recently, I had husband stop by to pick up a casserole for the weekend. We like the Dusseldorf, it's like German potato salad with sausage. No problem. He picked up a Red Velvet cake for himself and reported it was dry, like it had been frozen or something. He loves RVC, so was utterly disappointed. My story is that I requested a piece of key lime pie and after we had dinner at home, I proceeded to cut this piece in half and stored the other half in the fridge for the next day. I have seen how busy this place can be and how the staff rushes around like maniacs, so understandable stuff happens... but NEXT PART NOT FOR SQUEAMISH Upon eating my key lime pie I took about 3 bites. It didn't taste very good, it almost had a mild mint flavor with some candied, gross food decorations on top. It was not refreshing, like the kind we make at home. OK, so now I think I won't have it ever again ...but it gets worse... This is the worst part -- brace yourself. About the 4th bite I noted there was a very long hair in my mouth with the pie; I about gagged on it, it was soooo long. It was not mine, nor my husbands. It was black or very dark brown and totally disgusted me. I had to almost untangle it from my mouth to spit it out into the garbage can and threw away the rest of the pie *dies* Brushed my teeth, gargled with Listerine and was skeeved out the rest of the night. I am soooo grateful this didn't happen while we were having a dinner party at home. Can you imagine the husband's boss pulling that out of his mouth? uhhhh hell no! Promptly emailed the restaurant and did get a gift card for a ... whole $10. Just wondering if we will get the guts to go back. I. Don't. Know.

Upon first walking in you are hit with a great aroma of all the baked goods. It's almost hard to walk past without wanting to get something from the bakery. As for the meal, I would say it was about average. They had lots of good old comfort food but I wasn't blown away by the meal. I had a chicken sandwich and the chicken was good but it was half the size of the bun. I also expected a bit more flavor out of the bun based on the great smells from the bakery but it was just okay. I would eat here again but probably not my first choice.

I have gone to wheatfields for years and they do have the best good comfort food around. They charge far too much for their coffee and fountain pop. They call it the bottomless cup of coffee but it really isn't anything to write home over. I have so many fond memories here. I don't think I will stop making the occasional visit, as it is a landmark restaurant in Omaha. But for a quick to go lunch (cup of soup and a fountain drink) $8 seemed a bit much today. Hopefully there is cougar gold cheese in my tomato cheese soup!

I love baked goods, so I really can't help but love wheat fields. The food is generally really good with large portions. The house ice tea is very good. They also offer LOTS of vegetarian options YAY! The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because my most recent visits was uncharacteristically bad. I ordered a tomato spinach melt but what I got was bread with cheese in it and no veggies ! Very strange, but they took care of it and returned with the correct dish. Also stay away from their Booz because it is stupid expensive. If you have a sweet tooth definitely give them a try!

The menu is broad, and felt original. I ordered crab cakes served over hash browns, with a poached egg served on top of the crab cake and hollandaise sauce over all. It was delicious! Service was timely engaged.

This place really sucks! I ordered the honey fried chicken with mashed potatoes and it tasted like it was sitting under a light all day long. It was very dry and bland. I left there wanting to vomit my food. Yuck!! Dessert was way too sweat. That was my first and last visit!

I have always been a huge fan of Wheatfields. I am a huge brunch fan so seeing as they have approximately a 8-10 page menu is phenomenal. I have never had anything there I am not a fan of. I try to switch it up every time because they have such a diverse menu. The wait staff is always friendly, especially when I went this last time. I had my pup with me and she was so accommodating and gave him attention too, which I really appreciate! I can't go to Wheatfieds without getting dessert, or at least a muffin! I definitely recommend their blueberry muffins and/or zebra cake. Their strawberry wedding cake is also to die for. We usually get that for any family birthday or celebration. Wheatfields is also great for celebrating birthdays, baby showers, etc. They have a great enclosed back patio that you can host parties in. The Regency location is my favorite as well. They have (I think) two other locations - one downtown and one in Papillion. I think the waitstaff and whole atmosphere is the best at their original location.

This place cannot be beaten for breakfast. Muffins: amazing. Dad's biscuits: sinful. Big burro burrito: delish. Must have Big White Iced Cinnamon Roll every single time. I've gotten something different almost every time and never been disappointed.

We started with a trainee and her training pro. Before we ordered, the trainee was rotated through to the kitchen. After about twenty minutes, the regular wait person took our order. After about another 50 minutes and having observed customers who'd arrived after us get served, finish and leave, we asked about our meal. They lost our order so it was to be expedited in the kitchen. Twenty minutes later, still no food. We offered to pay for what we'd consumed (4 beverages and the pastries that were part of our meals). The host, our wait person and an apparent manager could not resolve a check. It was somewhat like Laurel and Hardy doing "who's on first." Prior visits have had good food, reasonable service. Don't be in any sort of a hurry. Don't expect them to resolve issues or solve any sort of problem. Nobody offered any sort of apology, no rain check, no offer to comp what we had consumed and no ability to compute a check for us to pay for what we'd eaten. We left very disappointed with their handling of the situation.

Loved their quiche, hollandaise sauce on which is a great idea!..and the peach strudel was delicious! Not really a big fan of the avocado salad, the two different salad dressings combined were kind of gross and there was no description of the salad saying it had bleu cheese on it (im severely allergic to bleu cheese). I would be willing to come back and try their food again.

Slow service, but still friendly. The meals are not cheap but very tasty.

I came here with about 8 other family members for brunch today. The waitresses were very nice and accommodating of such a large group. First off, the menu is like a book. You seriously could do weightlifting with it. There were so many choices, that it was hard to decide what to order. I got the baked egg strada since it was listed as a "house specialty", but I was not super impressed by. There was a bready crust on the bottom, with hashbrowns in the middle, a cheesy layer, toped with large chunks of meat and eggs. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting, but I think I thought it would be a bolder flavor. It came with a strawberry muffin, which was decent but really sweet. It also had a side of baked apples, which was good and also really sweet. The veggie omelet that my aunt got was good, but was toped with a deep fried eggplant. Not exactly health food. Probably the highlight of the meal were the casseroles. One of my relatives ordered the Mexican casserole, which was really flavorful and spicy. We were so stuffed that we didn't get dessert, but they have lots of pastries in the entry way which looked amazing. I had a sample of a chocolate pastry of some sort, which was really great. Gopd place to come with groups for lots of options for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Portions are huge, but try to save room for dessert.

This place is on my list now... After arriving for a 10:30 am Sunday brunch (probably our first mistake) we were first confronted with a 30 minute wait. Meanwhile, I waited in line to get a couple cups of coffee, and was soon thereafter reminded how weak and flavorless the coffee was (clearly I didn't read my last review). But at $2/cup I had to drink several to make myself feel it was at least marginally worthwhile. When we were seated, our server showed up almost immediately. Upon a promise to bring waters for everyone, he quickly vanished for about 10 minutes. I could go on... including plenty of boring details about why I won't go back to Wheatfields (at least this location) again. But I'm in kind of a 'skip to the point' mood today, and that point is this: I'm willing to pay good money for nice restaurant experiences. But with borderline cold food, mediocre quality, and slow service (I ended up helping myself to condiments, napkins, etc from the server booth during long periods of inattention)... Next time I'll just stay home. On that last point, I don't blame our server specifically, as the restaurant was clearly packed full and they seemed to be understaffed. But the reason for the wait became immediately apparent when we sat, and sat, and sat needlessly at our table waiting for our order to be taken, waiting for our food, and waiting for our bill. Several items came out wrong, and the 'food runner' was what I'd call the opposite of polite. Nobody seemed to be enjoying working that morning, and the feeling at our table was pretty mutual. I'm sure there are PLENTY of people who will disagree with me, and I will admit I'm sometimes weird about places like this (where people go just because it's been ingrained in the collective community consciousness that it's good) but I wouldn't recommend Wheatfields to anyone and definitely won't be spending my money here anymore.

"Ka'ili, we're going to brunch at Wheatfields tomorrow." I'm thinking, okay, we're going to a place that makes bread. Why are we going someplace that makes bread, for brunch. I mean, Wheatfields certainly sounds like it would just make bread, doesn't it??? Uncharacteristically, I threw caution to the wind and went to brunch without checking the reviews on yelp, YIKES!! Yet, I was delightfully surprised =) It was a busy saturday and there was a line to be seated from the host stand to the bakery (about 15 people were waiting to be seated). We got there about 20 minutes early which was fine because we put our names in and waited for our friend. We got seated on the enclosed patio, small table and we could tell our server was busy busy, but we're easy going and just chatted until we figured out what we were going to eat. The atmosphere is casual & warm. A lot of families and couples seem to come here to eat, must be because everyone will end up finding something they want here, the menu is HUGE! They also serve breakfast ALL DAY LONG! We ordered the 5 mini sticky sampler as a starter. They're basically cinnamon rolls with different sticky toppings, pecan, maple, whipped frosting, and orange. So yummy, sticky, and SWEET. Dessert for breakfast, I'm down =) Next up, I ordered the Big Fat Greek Scramble: scrambled eggs with Prosciutto ham, green onions, roasted red peppers, and potatoes, with feta cheese and olive oil. It has now made my top five of my favorite breakfasts of all time! I also ordered the Hot chocolate, which they claim is the creamiest hot chocolate ever. And boy was it creamy! I believe they put caramel in it too =) topped off my breakfast perfectly. My sis ordered the corned beef hash with eggs and our friend ordered the quiche. Like girls do best, we stayed for two hours and watched the table next to us be turned over twice, but we enjoyed ourselves very much and our server was spot on and friendly. *Next time I wanna try their crepes!

I will never recommend that anyone ever eat here. I have never been treated so rudely in my life and to be treated like that by the owner of the restaurant. We had to wait an hour and a half for our food. Half of our orders were wrong and the food was cold. And never one apology from anyone, only excuses. Then they had the nerve to add the gratuity to our bills and when my grandma refused to pay her 90 cent gratuity he threatened to call the cops on her. So don't sit there and tell me that this is America and its my restaurant so I can do what I want because you dick are exactly what is wrong with this country today! I knew we should have left when we were waiting for out table and I heard other people complaining about the restaurant! I knew we should have went to Tommy Colinas, won't make that mistake again!

Worse place ever! No stats! negative stars!! The owner is a spineless horrible business owner I have ever in countered ! I have never been tested so bad by a restaurant owner EVER! It started off with the food taking forever when we asked the waitress she says we are really busy.. Yet people who came after us were getting there's. when we got our food it was cold. My mom asked to talk to the manager all he could say was we brought it out as soon as we could.. No apology. We asked to speak with the owner. He cane over sane thing.. No apology! He could care less!! My mom says then we aren't paying for this food. He then threatened to call the police in her! Needless to say we paid for the disgusting cold food he continued to harass us after we paid! I am telling everyone how horrible if a person the owner of Wheatfields regency is!!

I am shocked at the amount of people that liked this place. This place is all about volume and not at all about quality or service. I ordered a common roll. It was dark brown- way over done, and piled on with icing. It was hard on the edges from over microwaving. It was HUGE and tasted terrible. 4 people in my party all had one bite and were done. Volume is different that good. I can buy 14 boxes of Little Debbie snack cakes but it doesn't make them good. Food- over priced Very hit-or-miss on quality Prices- terrible Service- the worst in Omaha - tons of staff - I have no idea what they did Dirty, loud, dated, and I am done with ever coming back. With all the good places to eat in Omaha - I can not understand why this place is busy. I hate it there. I'd rather have a pop tart at home.

As soon as we walked in, we were in the wonderful cloud of bakery smells. This was our third trip and we came as part of a group of five. A first glance, the menu is just too big. But, our waitress was expert at guiding us through to find just the rig menu items. The coffee was hot, albeit weak. The cinnamon roll was massive in size and taste. I ordered a pork chip but was served chicken fried steak. The waitress must have read my mind--I really wanted the steak, after all. The food was fresh and hot. As with our previous visits, the portions were huge.

Note: I've only been here for brunch and breakfast. I like Wheatfields very much. They have a great mix of home style and more upscale offerings for breakfast. I've had a few different things there- The Berries Creme Brule is really great. It's a waffle with a creme in the middle topped with berries/bananas/whipped cream. It's almost like a dessert. The omelettes are great. They are well sized, well flavored, and a lot of options are available. Pancakes are big as well. I ate the corn beef hash today and was slightly disappointed- the CBH was very good overall, but the portions were smaller than others. The poached eggs I ordered weren't very well done either- there was little yolk there. But in general, the food here is very good. The portions are large, the service is good, and they have a very big bakery at the front. The prices are pretty solid as well (standard Omaha cheapness- maybe $9-13 a meal).
