Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

These are some good tacos. I've been in a few times in the last six weeks, the last three visits all coming from cravings... So that lets me know these guys are doing a lot of things right. I've had the Carnitas, Fish and Baja Shrimp tacos and have been really happy with all three. Probably won't get the Baja Shrimp tacos because the batter/breading is a bit too hard and crunchy for me -- would love it if it was more of a tempura batter than what it is now. Fish tacos, though? Although a touch pricey at $4.25 each (I think that's right), they were really good. Freshly fried, tender, flaky fish. Add some Chipotle Ranch sauce? You've got a winner. But I like to stick with my old favorite: carnitas. Easy on the onions, no cilantro. Chipotle Ranch and sometimes the mildest sauce (I'm forgetting the name -- tomato something). The queso on here is PERFECT, the light cabbage/lettuce is good and crunchy, the onions are tangy and acidic. It's just a good taco. Pricey? Yeah, that's probably my big sticking point. Can't get out of there for much less than $7 if you get one taco and a drink and one taco when they're good like these are just ain't enough. I do like that it's counter service, and the location is great, and I especially love that I can sit at the bar thingy that lines the windows looking out into Aksarben Village. Looking forward to trying some different tacos, but for now I'll stick with carnitas and a Cherry Coke. Tasty.

I walked into the VOODO TACO restaurant @3:15pm on a tuesday afternoon. There was a couple leaving... There were 3 people at the bar. Guest ? Or employees? Who's to say? There conversation must have been pretty serious... Too serious to acknowledge a hot, hungry PAYING CUSTOMER NEVER GOING BACK!! NOTHING SUCKS WORSE THAN BAD SERVICE!!

Vodoo Taco in Aksarben, 2pm Tues 8/4/15 Greeted by Kate who was attentive and helpful. Ordered: Steak Fajita (rate 5), Chicken Fajita (5), Pork Carnitas (4), Mahi Mahi (4), Chips (3.5), Queso (4.5), Refried Beans and Rice (3)

This is where tacos go to prom...they get all fancy up in here! I must preface that I'm most definitely a traditionalist so I am most likely not their target audience. I would prefer my tacos from a sketch cart at 2am in South O...straight basics. Back to Voodoo...love the name, the decor and there is one older gentlemen that works there (don't know his name YET), who makes the experience hands down 10 stars...LOVE HIM!!! The decor is very industrial and cool. I like to sit in the back on the purple chairs, makes me feel all fancy or like I'm in a vampire lounge. I should've also prefaced that I'm also a nacho connoisseur, so when I saw that you can make any taco combination into nachos for $4 more, I was in voodoo heaven surrounded by crispy chips. Thus far, I've had the barbacoa, brisket and carnitas taco combos made into nachos. Yes, I've been there 3x in the not so distant past...don't judge. They were all delicious in their own right but maybe too over the top for my love of plain basics. Will I be back, hell yeah, plus I need to find out that gentleman's name...he's that AWESOME!
(4)Erin P.
Came across voodoo taco in a "sorry I'm hangry" moment and stopped to fix my bad mood from lack of food. The menu is different but I am pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. You can turn any taco on the item into an order of nachos! Which is exactly what I did and it was amazing. I had the fried chicken nachos. Yes fried chicken...BOMB! All of the staff is extremely friendly and so helpful! I will definitely be back here to try something else out!

This review is for the Aksarben location. Service was top notch, for real, the guys (I wish that I could remember his name to give him proper credit...but I do remember that it was his birthday) was super cool and so nice. The food: never fails to impress. I love this location and the people who work there.
(5)Bryan H.
It's looks like Austin TX, but it tastes like a gas station. Microwaved unconsidered food on plastic plates, plastic bowls, plastic everything.

Great gourmet taco restaurant with cool ambiance and an alcohol license! This location is new and is well decorated and clean. I absolutely love the pork carnitas taco and I paid it with the Doña sauce (you get to pick your sauce out of a handful of options). The reason I gave four stars instead of five is because I haven't really enjoyed the other tacos I've tried besides pork carnitas. I'm not sure if that's a reflection of the quality of the taco or if they're just not really my style so I'd still suggest trying what sounds good to you. The only other complaint is with the margaritas. I've tried them twice now because it seems like that's one of their specialties (I think they do a margarita Monday?) and just really haven't enjoyed them, very very sweet. If you're in the aksarben area this is one of the best restaurants in the area so far in my opinion!
(4)Nicole C.
My husband and I stopped here after a movie at Aksarben Cinema looking for a quick and cheap snack to tide us over until later. Voodoo Taco fit the bill. I got a steak fajita taco for $4.00 and he got an alligator taco for similar which we both enjoyed. My favorite taco trucks are a little better and cheaper but this was very good and I liked the voodoo themed decor. The service was prompt and very friendly. I will be back for a full meal soon!

I waited for a few weeks before trying this Voodoo place out, until they caught up with all their opening day mess-ups. I was at their 90th St location its first week and was very unimpressed with the place, so I came here expecting the worst of it. This one has a great location, and upon arriving (even though I had seen the blueprints months ago) I was very impressed with their layout, even though it appeared smaller than I was expecting. You are streamlined right to the ordering station (which probably needed on more register), and even though there is a large menu overhead, you need the hard copy to really make your decisions. As I wrote, I have already tried their 90th St. location and their 2.5 Food Truck, so I was looking for something a little different, and saw on their Facebook page that the Taco of the Month was the Marley (Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Cilantro, Cotija Cheese, Jalapenos, and to top it off Grilled Mango) That was a piece of Taco Mastery! I could have used just a little more Mango and a little less Jalapenos, but that is Voodoo... I also tried their Barbacoa Beef (shredded beef, bbq sauce, Cajun fried onions, Cotija cheese and Cilantro), though I received mostly the beef and bbq sauce. it was good, but needs a little tweeking, or maybe I didn't get the whole enchilada (sorry). I also wanted to try their side of rice and beans, I was shown a larger than I received (a circular bowl instead of the larger rectangular one shown to me at the counter), and had to get a Deschutes to wash everything down (did I mention they have some really good beers on tap?) I wholly expected to wait 10 to 20 minutes for my order, and even though there was a nice crowd this Saturday afternoon, I received mine in about 5 minutes. I sat at the window seats watching traffic go by Stinson Park and construction happening at the new UNO Arena, instead of choosing a booth or several open tables near the entrance. For two tacos, rice & beans, and a beer, my order totaled $18 which wasn't too bad... I will be back though, I will watch their Facebook page to see what their Tacos of the Months are... and their new beers on tap!

One thing I dislike is places that advertise a range of spiciness (is that a word?) that shows their sauces getting progressively hotter until they reach "volcano", "inferno", etc. But, when you actually try them, they all taste pretty much the same. That's not the case here. I ordered the steak fajita bowl and asked for the habenero lightning sauce, which was toward the far end of the "hot" spectrum on their menu. WOW. That stuff really kicked a$$. I was really glad I sprinkled it sparingly on my food because it packs a punch. They were not kidding when they said it was hot. This a great place for a quick lunch.
(4)Kevin E.
This place is absolutely awesome ! Came here for a quick lunch while attending a training session down the street. I'd love to have one of these back home in Va. I got the steak fajita soft taco and the fried avacodo taco. Both were Bangin!!!!
(5)Brian B.
So I've been here twice and both times this place didn't know how to handle a lunch crowd at all. The people are very friendly and the food is great but they probably need to hire a few more people during lunch. The pork tacos are amazing and usually there specials are great.
(3)Kitty B.
Taco with fried avocado...yum! It was our first time visiting, and the employee at the register was happy to suggest sauces on the side of the taco to try!
(4)Koshya W.
I really wanted to like this place and was excited that they opened a store on this side of Omaha. The cashier was very friendly and very enthusiastic which is always nice to see. The store was very clean which is always a plus, but the food was lacking that spark. We ordered chips and salsa, cheese and rice, and 2 fish and chips tacos. We started off small because we were gonna order more after. We received the chips and salsa pretty fast, but everything else took about 15+ minutes. For two tacos and some rice, that's a little unreasonable. When we started to eat, we realized the tacos were spicy. It wasn't noted on the menu or identified as a spicy item. Not a problem for me, but my friend isn't a spicy person so it was an unpleasant experience for her. We might return to try other items, but I don't see myself visiting for awhile.
(3)Michael Tate J.
Why did I wait so long to try this place?! So far I've tried the Mahi Mahi, the Pork Carnitas and the Ghost Pork which is by far my favorite so far. It's hot but not melt your face off hot. If you like spicy don't be scared of the ghost pepper ;) The flavor is great and leaves a pleasant a warm burn in your mouth. The Pin Heads are amazing too. Deep fried corn on the cob sprinkled with cheese and a chipotle aioli sauce? Yes please. Sauces are free with your order just don't forget to ask for them. My faves are the Aleppo and Dona so far. Only gave 4 stars because it can be a bit pricey to get filled up (about 3 tacos in my case) plus a beer will run you $20 bucks for just one person. Wish you got more Tacos for the price.

Cleanliness 4 Service 4 Food Quality 4 Likelihood 4 1-5 (5 Best!) 4.0 I sure did think I left a review for my last visit. I see that I did not. THIS is flavorful food. THE dining room is made with supplies from deconstructed buildings and homes in Omaha, HOW COOL! The service s awesome. And the place is clean. I am a happy customer! More topping choices than you can imagine, all tasty. My friend tried alligator (mmm not my favorite.) Support a local restaurant, have fun, and experience great tasting food.
(4)Amanda H.
We ordered Voodoo Taco for lunch today - it was delicious! Just the right amount of food - and everyone was very satisfied with their orders. I had breakfast tacos, and it was like being home (I'm from Texas and breakfast tacos are EVERYWHERE). The gents really appreciated their alligator sausage tacos. The tacos are on the smaller side, so grab 2 or 3 per person. All in all, definitely a hit. Plus the staff was amazing! I only wish there were more options for spice-weenies like me.
(4)Nickolas K.
Slow, slow, slow. It took forever to order-the one was delivered incorrectly, and it was very dirty (granted construction next door) but wiping down tables is not hard.
(1)Amanda L.
I had the gator and fried avocado tacos while my husband had the brisket and beef tacos. All were great but the gator was especially delish so he had to try one and I got myself another this time with extra sauce! Just a bit of heat with a ton of flavor. The owner came by and is friendly and cool and we also had table side magic which was a lot of fun! Try the voodoo drink.
(5)Charity C.
I love going here or taking friends to this restaurant for the first time. The atmosphere is so unique and fun and Thor tacos are great too! If you're in the mood for seafood there mahi-mahi tacos are amazing, but so are this fajita tacos! Also I love their queso! They have a variety of sauces to choose from but I actually skip out on them and add my queso because it's that good!
(3)Karen K.
Loved the decor. Tacos were very tasty. We ordered lots of extras and sides, which brought our meal ticket total up, but the food was good.
(4)Jason S.
Really love this place! Tacos are amazing but a bit on the smaller side for what you pay for. Ends up being around six bucks for just a drink and a taco the size of the regular ones at tj's or Taco Bell. Granted the ingredients are 150% better. Great quick lunch to keep ya goin through out the day without slowing you down or sacrificing your tastebuds.
(4)Cimmone F.
I am addicted. If you dare come here, prepare to be a regular. Haaa The first time I came in I ordered to go, I was sort of in a hurry, didn't check my order until I got to my destination and found that it was completely wrong ( I ordered chicken, not beef. I ordered no cheese and there seemed to be extra). I picked around it and ate what I could. It was pretty yummy. I was disappointed that I didn't get to just eat what I ordered. Anyway, a couple days later, I went back, told Charlie at the counter what happened. Right away he apologized and took care of me. You see, even though I could only eat a part of what I got before, I could tell they made great food. And I wanted to give them a chance to make up for it before leaving them a lousy review here. So, he got my order right, comped my meal and I was a very happy camper. I've been back again since. I love their selection, the freshness of their food and the service. Also, the place has a fun atmosphere and great place to come with friends. There is also a full bar. If I lived in Omaha this would definitely be my fav place to eat out at. Oh, and they actually have for real in house made spicy hot sauce salsa. Hehe
(5)Aaron R.
We were driving up to Omaha and searched for a place to eat, and Voodoo a Taco sounded great. It completely lived up to our hope! I had the Barbacoa Taco, and it was tasty. The guac was smooth and fresh. My spouse's margarita was good (although they did forget the salt she ordered). And there was Mr Charles who made the experience great! This is why I love great local places with personality.
(5)Marie D.
Excellent service, friendly and energetic staff, cool vibe, and delicious tacos. First time here and couldn't have left happier. Got to see my overly cocky, spicy-loving boyfriend break out in a sweat and claim he was "going down over here," thanks to their amazing habanero sauce. We work at one of the most popular Tex-Mex joints in Omaha, so we know tacos. Only complaint is there isn't one in the Old Market where we live.
(5)Kyle T.
Yes, the prices are a little high, but these are some great tacos. Only thing I wouldn't order again is the guacamole, which seemed like the pre-made goopy stuff. Biggest thing to be aware of are the patrons with small kids. Without fail, this results in an epic wait in line while they ponder the options for Little Johnny the Special Snowflake. Each and every taco will be a special order that begins with "once upon a time there was a young prince..." and it will take a lifetime. Not the staff's fault -- they're usually on it and are able to get things out pretty quickly. But indecision on the part of the customer isn't something they can do much about. My suggestion: if you see a line of kids, go next door to Spirit World and get a drink and come back. If you don't see strollers or toddlers you're good to go.
(4)Will O.
I had the taco of the month and a chicken fajita taco. Was not fond of the taco of the month by the chicken fajita taco was delicious and I will order it again.
(4)Lisa H.
I've heard great things about this place, but our experience was just ok. 3 stars seems generous, but I didn't hate it. . We visited last Monday evening when kids eat for 99 cents, so maybe it was busier than usual. There were 3 parties ahead of us. The ordering process seems a little tedious for this type of service, especially for a business lunch rush, but we were in no hurry. We stood in line for about 10 minutes. Littles were getting antsy. Due to the wait, we had plenty of time our decisions before we got to the front and hoped to get our party through and not hold up the line further, as now there were several parties behind us as well. Little placed their orders (pb banana taco and smash taco) and then it was time for us. My husband ordered his barbacoa taco, some chips and queso that the cashier recommended and then a craft beer from the chalk board. She informed us that they are out of most of those beers. She tries to keep that sign turned off but someone keeps turning it on. He ended up with a basic Bud Light. I ordered the shrimp taco and was told they ran out much earlier today (the way she said it made it sound like I should have known better). I ordered the Mahi Mahi taco instead with a margarita. The wait once we ordered was 5 minutes or so- enough time for the kids to fill their drink cups and wait a few more minutes. All of our food did not come out at once - something they need to work on. Food was fresh and tasty, the sauces we chose were just right and the kids liked their meals as well, in fact they ordered a second smash taco (fried cheese quesadilla) to split. The margarita was good too. The queso was ok, but not "amazing" as I had heard. We will try a different side next time, just to experiment. The tacos are on the small side so if you want to fill up, plan on ordering more than one taco, or adding sides. We went back to order dessert, but the cashier informed us that most desserts on the lighted menu behind the counter haven't been available since she started working there. Another disappointment. The decor is funky urban (I love the Reclaimed Wood accents). Seems like they have a few kinks to work out, but we will give it another try soon. Maybe it was just an off night with not the best staff on duty?
(3)Josh K.
For over a week, I didn't know what to think of this place. With these mixed emotions in mind, I had to try it again. Is the food good? Yes. Is it worth the price you pay? No, at least not in my opinion. The portion sizes are small. Like 6" tortilla shell small. This isn't a huge issue until you consider the fact that these are $3-$5 tacos. No way that is going to fill me up unless I spend a lot of money here. I would have said getting the bowl is similar in price to Chipotle, but the portion size still seems small. Voodoo Taco is a good place to blow your bonus on during a shopping spree, but definitely not somewhere you would go to for a hearty meal.
(3)Haleigh K.
Superb quality and atmosphere. I was very surprised at the service speed since it was grand opening rush*. Can't wait to see the non-rush speed of service. The Mardi Gras purple velvet king thrones are a nice theming touch as well. Plenty of attention paid to the theming, modern yet Cajun, but not overboard. * Note, this is a copy of my review I made on Facebook, my visit was on December 17th at noon, which was lunch rush of grand opening day.
(5)Brandon M.
Food and service are very good. Taco's need to be about a dollar cheaper to make this a regular visit because they aren't very big. Also only one register open that accepted cards. Alligator taco was great
(3)Kristina A.
My husband and I stopped in for our visit today and already know what we'll order on our next visit! We ordered the Barbacoa Beef with Aleppo Sauce, Baja Shrimp with Dona Sauce, and the Chips and Queso along with a beer and a House Margarita. The breakdown... Service: Excellent. The gentleman at the front was a lot of fun and both he and the lady were very helpful with the menu and selecting sauces. Food was delivered quickly as well. Food: Pricey for the size but delicious. (Minus 1 star here.) The Barbacoa Beef taco was fantastic and made even better with the spicy Aleppo Sauce. The Baja Shrimp was good. Nothing special though - just your standard shrimp taco. (Neither my husband or I was a fan of the Dona sauce.) The chips and queso were also good (Again, nothing "wow" but good.) and the waitress kindly offered to refill our chips when she noticed we had cheese leftover. Drinks: The beer was... beer. Not much to say there but the husband liked what he ordered. The House Margarita was hands down the worst margarita I've ever had. (Minus another star.) It was so tart my husband actually shuddered when he tried it. $7 for a mason jar sized glass of straight up margarita mix with next to no alcohol it. (I actually thought to myself, "I could've had 7 (SEVEN!) margaritas at Don and Millies!" Yes. Theirs are better.) We'll be back! And this time with the kids. My daughter was ecstatic when I told her they have Spaghetti Tacos (a la iCarly) on the kids menu.
(3)Rick F.
This is a big step up from Taco Hell and other fast food Mexican. It is a great concept but needs to improve execution. My green chili taco was loaded with tasty pork but had no apparent green chili. My special goodfellas taco had plenty of sweet Italian sausage but was lacking the roasted peppers. The pickled carrots would have been a great counterpoint if they had some flavor. This set of near misses really whets my appetite. I will revisit. Absolutely.
(3)Jim B.
What a great alternative for lunch or dinner. Love the different choices and best caso in town.
(5)Monica B.
Saw the reviews and had to try this place when I was in town to visit. I liked the cool, casual, not trying-too-hard decor. The Darth chicken fajita was out of this world. I consider myself a hot fare fan (i.e. fan of Ghost Pepper) and it was hard to finish this dish without crying! So tasty and well-flavored! Small portions but I'm not sure I could have eaten more. The service was attentive and quick. The Ghost pork (which my friend ordered) did not touch this meal in terms of heat or flavor. I will be back for another fajita when I come back to Omaha!
(4)Barbara L.
Who doesn't like the idea of eating at Voodoo anything? I wanted to love them. However, having lived in Colorado, serving a taco on an uncooked flour tortilla is simply sacrilegious. I have not tried their nachos, but I'm sure they're probably good, hard to go wrong with chips and anything. Would love to see Aksarben Village up their game not only in terms of food, but in sustainability. Filling every square inch of land with rentable space, tasteless.
(1)Mary Jo P.
Barely edible and overpriced. So disappointed 4 of us and all agreed.
(1)James H.
Our third time here and it was a downer. Took our order and went to get our drink and the hostess walked back to the kitchen and the hostess was fed up with people ordering food. She look over and didn't realize I was there listening to her. Next our order came and my wife and I had the steak fajita tacos. Tasted good except there was a lot of gristle in our tacos. I had one large piece and she had three pieces. You would expect to be able to eat the whole taco since that is the only one you get for $4 each. To bad, hopefully the Aksatben Voodoo Taco doesn't end up like the Nebraska Crossing one. Poor, poor, poor. Today this was first place on everyone's list to try again for lunch. Not at the top to try again for sure.
(2)Craig P.
This place could be so much better! Inconsistent service, inconsistent food, makes every visit a crap shoot. Hopefully they'll get organized, actually train (& manage) their prep & wait staff. Green Ghost tacos are awesome, but I'm inclined to drive to their 90th & Fort location (or hope Mula opens for lunch) even though I live in Aksarben.
(3)Robert N.
Good tacos. A nice addition to the Aksarben area.
(3)Katie F.
I heard good things about Voodoo, but I wasn't impressed. Overpriced and overrated, I had the vegan avocado taco. Nothing I couldn't make at home, as it consisted of a half of an avocado. Decent beer selection on tap for a place that isn't a bar.
(2)Dennis K.
Ugh I hate to give a bad review on a place u wanted to be a regular. Tacos should be cheap and delish. Voodoo taco was the exact opposite. I had a Baja shimp taco that was awful. I hate feeling ripped off.$5 tacos and $6 beer. They will prob make a killing though
(2)Papagos M.
My 'go to' item to test the mettle of any new taco place is the 'carnitas' taco. It's supposed to arrive piping hot - crispy little bits of fried porky goodness with charred tips to bring your taste buds to life. My counterman/order taker Charles was very friendly, explaining the menu to the Aksarben area businessmen in front of me while I pondered my own porcine future. I selected two of the carnitas and settled into a booth with my number and a glass of cold water. The paper tray arrived in about 4 minutes containing...wait for it...two of the barbacoa tacos. I double checked my receipt...yup...barbacoa instead of carnitas on the ticket. I guess that review of the carnitas will wait until next time. The barbacoa tacos were slightly small on the ingredients - 6" fresh flour tortillas with about 3 ounces of dark mixed beef, a small crumble of cotija cheese and a generous squeeze of hickory flavor barbecue sauce along with two small containers of reddish tomatillo sauce. The beef was soft and melty and the sauce was...well...barbecue-y. I added the tomatillo sauce to the second taco in an attempt to balance the sweet sauce with a tang of peppers and the result was a bit better. Prices were on par with the quality of ingredients. Service was top notch, with Charles coming by later to clean up the paper trays and napkins from all of the nearby tables. All in all, I'll give VooDoo's Aksarben place a thumbs up. Great atmosphere, plenty of room instead of cramming in a couple of extra tables, sorta open kitchen where you can spy on the cooks, knowledgeable and helpful staff, quick service.
(4)K M.
Great intro in meeting Charles at the counter; he's King of Personality and made coming worthwhile just to engage with him! The food however was just average with lots of variety. Hubby and I ordered bowls one chicken the other smoked brisket. Both were short on the meat. The rice and beans are oddly served in a plastic to go container with rice and beans lumped oddly at opposite ends of the bowl. The rice was sticky and flavorless while the beans were ok, we think that Chipotle offers a better product with more meat and fresher product. The salsas we tried were a little odd too with vinegar obvious in one and the other flat. We had chips and salsa to start and he salsa was really very good and we'd give it a 4 all by itself; worth reordering! I'd come again just to meet Charles but more likely we'll stick with Chipotle for overall value and quality!
(2)Stacey P.
Cajun inspired tacos and sides. Always tasty. Only thing keeping them from a 5 star rating is the price for what is served at an average of $4.25 per taco. As a native Nebraska girl, the pinheads (fried wheels of corn on the cob) are amazing and right up my alley.
(4)Hollyanne F.
I've been to both their NE Crossing location and their food truck, but am really happy that they've opened up another brick and mortar location dangerously close to my house. First things first, the space is a very nice size and I love the decor. Although it still feels casual, it's definitely slightly more upscale and a place I wouldn't mind having a sit-down dinner, although on this visit we go our food to-go. I've had great service on all my other Voodoo visits, and this was no exception. Our cashier was very friendly and gave us some suggestions off the menu, and even suggested corresponding sauces to go with each taco we ordered. Then, while we were waiting for our order, one of the other staff came out of the kitchen and made the rounds with customers, introducing himself and asking how the food was and expressing his excitement for the new location - a nice touch. The one downside is that we waited about 20 minutes for our to-go order - a little long for a casual lunch, but it was their first week, so I'm sure they'll get that worked out. They initially forgot one of our tacos (we didn't notice), but one of the staff ran out after us in the parking lot and let us know, then got the rest of our order all squared away quickly. We noticed when we got home they had forgotten to include the sauces we ordered, which was a bummer, but no biggie - again, first week jitters that will surely be fixed. As for the food, I've tried most of the tacos over time at Voodoo and have liked them all. Great chips, salsa, guacamole, and queso as well! Overall, excited to have this new shop with the same great service as other locations.
(5)Royce M.
Wanted to really like this place but I can't say I do, have eaten there twice and the tacos are average at best and of kind of pricey. I will say the staff was very helpful, but the food is just not that great. I am not sure why people like it so much. much better tacos in Omaha.

Been here a couple of times now. I have heard many negative reviews and wasn't expecting to like this place but I did. The tacos here are good and they have interesting flavor combinations. The barbacoa is my favorite so far. The brisket taco would be good if they would put more than 2 tiny slices on there. Not a place I care to go to all the time because it is pricey. Expect to pay around $4 per taco. But it is a gourmet taco joint so that is expected. I wish they would label them or something so I know which is which when they bring the order out. I would give them 3 1/2 stars but rounded it up to 4 becsuse the service was really good. Would recommend this place if you're looking for something different to try and don't mind paying $4 a taco.

I'm a sucker for great tacos and voodoo hits it out of the park. I have tried almost every taco on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. I try to get there each month, as they have a taco of the month, which keeps things interesting!

I've been to this location twice and to the Gretna location once. A+ on each visit. Excellent tacos and very friendly staff.

Love their food! So many unusual ingredients and combinations, and all I've tried so far were delicious! If you're not a big fan of spicy food, beware as there are some dishes with a lot of heat!

Great tacos! Very creative selections and they have a new taco every month to try. Great menu!

I had heard a lot of great things about Voodoo Taco and was pretty disappointed when I tried it for the first time. I am a vegetarian and there was really not a lot of options for me as it is. I tried the Fried Avocado salad and it was not anything special. I personally did not like the chipotle ranch or the fried avocado. The salsa, guac, and queso were also just OK.

This place is SOOO good! I had carnitas tacos and nachos off their food truck at Rockfest at Westfair where they had a limited menu. It was delicious, and I can't wait to actually come in to the restaurant. Even my boyfriend, who is a notoriously picky eater, liked the nachos and queso! (This was a huge shocker to me!!)
