Okay, I spent 19 months traveling to Omaha late 2012 to mid 2014. I was lucky enough to have an apartment in Old Market. I usually cooked at home, but when I did go out to eat it was usually within walking distance. That limited approach kept me from getting to what is now, based upon one visit, my favorite restaurant in Omaha, Twisted Cork Bistro. First, the place has a great vibe. Comfortable, chic Seattle referenced decor and really great music. Second, my waitress was freakin' phenomenal! First she let me know what was fresh. Tonight it was mussels, scallops and ahi tuna. While that info was very helpful, it left me with three choices and I looked to her for direction. She ranked them for me, putting the ahi tuna at the top of the list. She put the cioppino second and added that people rave about it. Third was the scallop dish. I took her advice and ordered the ahi tuna. The Union Pinot Noir was excellent! And while they claim a six ounce pour, it seems like more. My ahi arrived and the waitress told me the sauce, which was used sparingly on the plate, was wonderful and brought me a small pitcher of the sauce. THANK YOU!!!! The ahi was served with a slaw and a small amount of jasmine rice. The tuna, slaw and sauce (dressing?) was simply delicious. It was 'yummy sound' delicious. I had to keep it down since I was by myself and I didn't want to draw attention to myself, but after many bites I did let out a low, "Mmmmmmm". It was SO good! And I wasn't enthused to have rice on the plate, but it was just a small amount that added subtle flavor to the meal overall. This was seriously one of the best meals I've had out in a long time. At one point the waitress apologized for being away so long. I really hadn't noticed. I did not feel neglected. I am here through Thursday afternoon. I AM going back to Twisted Cork Bistro tomorrow for the cioppino. The only thing that could make this place better is a more natural setting for the outside seating. I didn't sit outside, but would like to. Unfortunately, the view is the parking lot. Please, please, please open a a Twisted Cork Bistro in Hayward, CA! I have the perfect place picked out.

You have to try this if you are a foodie and like fresh unusual libations! The front of the restaurant is unassuming....go in!!! My husband had the San Juan Salmon Tacos. He was oohing and aahing like "When Harry Met Sally". I had the cheeses board oh wow I can't think of an artsy description just get it if you like good cheese and accoutrements. Then I ordered the corn chowder and the pear salad. Incredible. Sadly we didn't have room for the awesome sounding desserts. Service was very good! Tammy Tulsa, Ok

A for effort. F for execution. Chicken with figs should of be good but over salted and over cooked. Next night I had the rib eye and couldn't even eat much of it. Very, very tough and tasted like it had been frozen for a month and defrosted in the microwave. If your traveling and looking to eat in Omaha like I was, please avoid!

I stopped in here for lunch on a weekday. I would peg their menu as a mix between a bistro and a gastropub. They label themselves as a bistro/tavern. There's a definite bistro look and feel to the place, but the menu is a bit broader than most bistros with some great gastropub selections like a gourmet burgers. I had their Twisted Cork Burger (which, apparently, some show on Food Network called the #1 burger in Nebraska). It's a tasty, if not terribly large, burger. I resisted the urge to have the slaw removed as I am not usually a slaw fan, I decided to try the burger as the chef intended. I was not let down. It was a tasty juicy burger with a non-bland patty and all of the topping blended to create a perfect mix of salty savory from the burger patty, a refeshing crunch from the slaw, and a great tang from the mustard and pickled red onions. It reminded me of several other tasty gourmet burgers I've enjoyed at upscale gastropubs. I'm certainly not the kind of food snob that thinks the more something costs the better it is, but I will say that upscale gastropubs seems to be turning out much better tasting burgers these days than those old greasy spoons we used to rely on for great grill fare. Burger was served with another version of slaw (Apple-Bleu slaw) and kettle chips. Second slaw was good and I am a slaw hater. It wasn't swimming in mayonaise or anything disgusting like that. The cabbage still had a good crunch to and it paired well with the blue cheese crumbled into it. Kettle chips were very tasty, but they only gave me about 8 of them. I've certainly been served bigger plates of food in similar restaurants at similar price points. However, I ate most everything on my plate and left feeling full, Not unsatisfied or stuffed. They have a great selection of craft beer for a bistro. There were something like 20+ craft beers available from a wide variety of breweries. Service was very friendly and attentive. My waitress, Pam, was extremely nice and genuine. I will say that I am not a big fan of the "bistro" style of restaurant. I don't mean restaurants that throw that word in their business name just to sound urban or chic, but actual bistros with a bistro atmosphere, bistro seating, and bistro capacity. They're just uncomfortable. I cannot stand it when the tables are that close together. I hate feeling claustrophobic in a restaurant. For people who live/work downtown or midtown or have spent a lot of time in much larger cities this kind of dining is probably somewhat normal for them and they're probably numb to it. I'm from the semi-rural suburbs and I like my space. I have a very unreasonably large personal bubble. I don't want packed into a "bistro" like a sardines in a tin. I also frequently dine alone and being in such a visible non-private seat just makes the lone diner experience awkward. In large urban areas (or old European villages) bistros are a necessity because space is at a premium (either due to population density or 100+ year old streets and buildings). In West Omaha it mostly looks like the owners failed to lease enough space for their restaurant. I'll definitely be back, but probably during their off-hours to enjoy a little more space.

REALLY yummy food! I've been for lunch and dinner and their menu changes a bit for each. For lunch, I love the fisherman's stew! It has a large piece of salmon and some very large shrimp. Delicious with some crunchy bread served along side. They also have an amazing wine and beer selection. The only downside is how loud it is - difficult to have a conversation if you're trying to make it private. Otherwise, this is a really fun atmosphere. One of my favorite restaurants in Omaha!

First off, I'll say this is a solid 3.5 stars and I would eat here again. Decided to try something new, and since my wife and daughter were in the vicinity, I met them here for dinner on a Monday night. Decor is nice as others have described. The wait staff was great, my wife had me add a little extra to the tip because of how nice the server was while they waited for me to arrive. They had a good selection of microbrew, both local and from around the country. The waitress made a great recommendation on my wife's red wine, she really liked it. We started with the mussels as an appetizer, and enjoyed them. The sauce had a lemon zest flavor with crumbled blue cheese, that was a great combination with a piece of bread all together. For the main course I had the Plum Creek Farm chicken. I like that they source local, and have had chicken from this farm at other local restaurants. The chicken had a cinnamon apple glaze/sauce on it, which was actually pretty good. I am a fan of sweet, and it definitely added to the flavor of the chicken. The downside was the chicken simply wasn't as moist and tender as I have had it at a number of other places. It was good, but not great. My wife had the salmon and it was cooked nicely. She said it seemed like a very nice piece of fish, but maybe wasn't super fresh (which we did both concede that it was salmon on a Monday night in the middle of the country, so not much you can do there). Overall it is a nice restaurant and a was an enjoyable meal. Would we go back, for sure. Is it one of my favorites in town, no.

An absolute hidden gem in town. Amazing farm to table spot and able to get us in on a Friday at 7pm immediately. Mostly fresh fish dishes, great wine and fantastic small plates! Service was a little slow to start, waited a bit for our greeting and drink order but our server was very sweet.

I came here for dinner with a few of my coworkers after seeing good reviews on Yelp. As for the decor, the inside of the restaurant looks great, with a neatly organized group of wine bottles on the walls along with some pretty homely coloring (think light brown). The lighting made for a casual atmosphere. It was surprisingly crowded for a Monday night, but my party of four was able to get a table pretty quickly. The waitress was nice and let us take our time with the menu, which was an interesting foldable menu with a nice design. It didn't feel cheap like other paper menus that I've seen before. I got a dark IPA from Handle that I found to be alright. We weren't particularly hungry, so we didn't get any appetizers and went straight for the entrees. I ended up picking the Food Network recommended Twisted Cork Burger. I felt that it was merely ok, with the meat being a little less juicy than I'm used to. I did like the side of cole slaw and potato chips though. It made me feel a little better than eating some french fries. Although I didn't think the burger tasted all that great, I didn't feel bloated or gassy afterwards, and my mouth wasn't dry at all. I'm thinking that the quality of beef is probably higher here than in other places. Maybe grass fed beef simply tastes different and I'm not used to it. My coworkers got the seafood and chicken dishes, all of which looks delicious. We're probably going to come back here at some point in the next month so I'll update my review accordingly then.

First timers last night for dinner. We tried the lahvosh, Juan de Fuca tacos, and the Elmwood Prairie Fire. I thought they were all pretty good, but the tacos were especially delicious! The miso glazed salmon with bacon mayo, avocado aioli, and blue corn tortilla shells created a unique flavor. I was hesitant to try to salmon having recently had a terrible experience elsewhere, but it was fresh and had great flavor. While the Prairie Fire (espresso and cayenne flat iron) had great flavor, some slices were gristly, which was a drawback for me. For drinks I had the Farmer Mule with cucumber and mint. It was stiff, but refreshing. A good thing in my opinion. My husband had the Mai Tai. It had 3 different types of Bacardi and was topped with toasted coconut. He wasn't that into it, but I thought it was decent (though be warned as it was sweet and really strong). Overall it was a good meal with a nice environment that I will try again. I would like to check out the patio once the weather is nice again!

Northwest meets Midwest at Twisted Cork Bistro in Omaha, NE. The menu pays homage to the founders' Seattle roots while embracing the warmth and bold flavor of the Great Plains. My dinner choice was Red Salmon, a wild sockeye filet served over sweet corn and Jasmine rice. The dish paired perfectly with a glass of Alexana Chardonnay, of Willamette Valley near Portland, OR. Business travel doesn't take me to the Northwest but now it doesn't have to. A stop in Omaha will do just fine.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha. be warned that on weekends its best to have reservations, we have been turned away many times even after they expanded. Also, seating can be very close to your neighbors. The atmosphere is casual, the owners are from the pacific northwest and its obvious looking at the menu and the wine list. They have made a strong effort to use local ingredients when they can and combine it with a northwest spin. Small but very well done craft beer and cocktail selection and the northwest wine list is outstanding especially if you like Oregon pinot, probably worth the trip alone if you do. For lunch my favorite is the corn and tomato soup, but especially the shrimp Cobb salad, a little bit unusual with mango's and a pineapple salsa with a wasabi aioli/vinaigrette but really well done. Sockeye and Greens salad is very good as well, wild salmon filet is always excellent. Burgers are above average, the Duet is really good three small burgers one of which is a wild salmon slider. Dinner menu is heavy on Seafood, again great salmon and the halibut is usually very good. Again, burgers are good with a small but good list of aged steaks. I really like the Branched oak cheeses or Lahvosh for starters.

Couldn't believe this little gem existed amongst all the chains and boring options. Staff was super awesome, drinks were great and the food was outstanding. Will return for sure!

My favorite restaurant in Omaha. The lahvosh, salmon, fish tacos, and burgers are my favorites so far but everything I have had has been great. Always great service and a great atmosphere.

Delicious burgers served with great side dish. Wine was a little pricey but delicious none the less. A dear friend and I pick somewhere new and interesting for lunch when we're in town. Beautifully decorated, fun atmosphere and attentive staff. Good job!!!

Great service. Great food. Great menu options. Great wine selection. Have wined and dined and lunched and brunched here with my husband and sons at various times on a regular basis. We have never had a bad meal or experience. Instead, we have always received attentive and friendly service and Knowledgable and honest advice about menu and wine selections. Our favorites include the scallops appetizer, the shrimp avocado lime cobb salad, chef's selections specials, the tuna for lunch and the housemade and fresh desserts! Like none other in Omaha.

Twisted Cork Bistro Pros: Excellent, memorable dishes. Good prices. Cons: Small, busy, limited seating In Omaha on business on 9/18 at 6:30 pm. Had a dinner craving for a good burger and Yelp! reported that Twisted Cork's burger was one of the top rated in all of Omaha. I was alone, so I sat at the very small bar. First, this is not a burger joint. It's a small, classy, and un-pretentious American bistro started by owners originally from the Northwest. You'll find fresh seafood, steaks, chicken and salads on the menu all with a Northwest influence. They just happen to have an outstanding (famous?) burger. The dress code is casual, but the clientele keeps it classy. Plenty of parking out front. They have a fantastic wine selection and craft beer options. Of course, many from the Northwest region where the owners are from and the menu choices are influenced from. To start, I had the Northwestern salad, which I absolutely loved. Fresh mixed greens in a sweet apple vinaigrette with pear slivers, pine nuts and cranberry raisins. I have a sweet tooth and this salad was singing to it. Next, the burger. Not huge. Not slathered in cheese or bacon. No pageantry or pantomime. Looked odd with bright pink onion rings on top of it. However, one bite settled it. Delicious!!! Beef flavor with a hint of peppery sausage (think Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage). Pickled onions add a tart sweetness to the subtle mustard. Just a touch of cheddar cheese. Definitely one of the most flavorful burgers I've ever had. Finished off with the Ginger spice cake with vanilla ice cream and fresh shaved orange zest. The zest smelled incredible and everything was delicious. I'm going to offend some Omaha residents here, but I've suffered through years of bland, forgettable meals in this city. People's standards seem to be very low here. Twisted Cork is a shining example of what a quality restaurant should be. Unpretentious and classy with simple but delicious meals made with fresh ingredients. Prices are spot-on for what you get. I will be back to the Twisted Cork. Many, many times if I'm lucky.

Fresh ocean scallops, tender muscles, sweet sea prawns, and wild Alaska salmon bathed in a spicy red basil tomato sauce and served with an order of hot crusty artisan bread....... What else could you want??? Why more Reshill Pinot madam! Here's to Thursday nights and greeeeeeat food!
(4)Kate L.
Very special, outstanding food, impressive wine list especially for Oregon/Washington reds. Portions were on the smaller side, but sufficient. Cons: only one table can accommodate a party of six; no separate offerings for kids.

I'm failing to see the 'awe' in this place. Having only eaten here once a few years back, I gave it a try with a group of friends for lunch. First, be prepared to experience a loud dining room, we could barely hear each other. Also, our server was not around much.... After ordering the Shrimp Cobb salad I had high hopes for a satisfying meal, since this was a $12 salad with promises of a cornucopia of ingredients. After waiting a while for our food, this salad was a pretty big let down. 3 small pieces of shrimp sat atop some wet, chopped romaine with no dressing I could decipher. One piece of overcooked bacon, and some blue cheese crumbles sat on one side of the dish, while some chopped mango and brown avocado slices sat on the other side. A very bland tasting salad, with no punch of flavors to redeem it. I ate the whole thing because I was very hungry and was hopeful for a protein packed salad for my mid day meal. Yet, here I sit, typing this review munching on a granola bar because I left this lunch still hungry! For my almost $20 lunch, I shouldn't need a snack an hour and a half later. The last time I was here, I think i had the same sentiment, small portions and hefty price tag. Let me just say that I'm perfectly fine with petite portions, as long as they pack a punch and the old adage "Quality over Quantity" falls into place. I find the food average, on every level at this place, even salt and pepper didn't help. The next time someone suggests this place for a meal, I will kindly steer them in another bountiful/ flavorful direction.

Twisted Cork is a must do in Omaha. The infusion of just outside the box ingredients makes for a great meal. Additions like bacon jam, espresso infusions and apple smashed potato cake turn the ordinary into extra-ordinary. Everything in Twisted Corks ever changing menu will tantalize the senses. I come to Twisted Cork every time I am in town. This place is a true gem.
(5)Nick B.
This is an update to my earlier review. After seeing my credit card statement, I noticed they added an extra dollar to my tip. Hmmm. If it ever was in doubt, now I will for sure never go back. And that's one less star - wish i could give negative stars. Tacky as hell. (from $89 to 90 - that was the total, not the tip! I'm not familiar with using restaurant computers, but on most keypads i've seen, the 0 isn't by the 8 and 9. And 89 can't easily be confused for looking like 90.) --------- My wife and I went there on a Thursday evening. We had a cheese plate appetizer. My favorites from that were the goat cheese and cheddar. It was pretty good. I got the supposed best burger in town and was frankly very disappointed. The bun was dry, burger unevenly cooked and I just didn't find the flavors appealing. It came with some chips that I might have bought at the grocery store and sat on my shelf for 2 weeks. The apple-bleu slaw it came with was pretty good. I have had many better burgers in Omaha, and many for way under $14. My wife had the steak and shrimp. The prosciutto wrapped jumbo shrimp was overly salty and her steak, ordered medium rare came out as red as I've seen a steak in a long time - definitely extra rare, not even close. We had it sent back for a little extra cooking and when I got to taste it, the flavor was decent. They were out of the beer I had been waiting to try (and a few others she listed from the menu), but I got my second choice. The wife liked her wine. Our waitress was fine, no complaints there. Overall, I was just expecting more after the reviews. We have had much better in Omaha (Lot 2 in Benson comes to mind as a similar type of place with locally produced food), and doubt we will go back.

We decided to try Twisted Cork based on Yelp reviews. Yelp almost never steers me wrong, and I will probably try this place again because of that fact, but we had a pretty bad dining experience. First off, we stood at the entry to the restaurant for five minutes with no check in from a hostess. Not a big deal, except we made eye contact with three of the waitstaff. Eventually we got seated, at a table directly in the middle of the restaurant- almost like we were on display for everyone else. Again, not a huge deal, just an inconvenience. Also, we didn't make reservations, so I guess we were lucky to get a table at all. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. After 12 minutes (we said we were getting up at the 15 mark) someone came over and asked "Have you been helped yet?" Ovi we haven't been helped yet, lady, we don't even have waters. So we ordered some drinks (I ordered the grapefruit gimlet, DH the twisted mule) and she scampered off. The waitress came back with waters and offered to give us an appetizer on the house, super nice of her. We looked at each other, didn't really feel like eating that much food, so we declined and told her we were ready to order. Perhaps it would have been classy to take care of one of our drinks instead, but no dice. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. After FORTY-FIVE minutes, our drinks showed up. Wow. And, I didn't really care for mine. Rogue spruce gin, lime, agave, grapefruit segments, shaken sounds pretty effin' delicious. I'm a pretty big gin fan but this drink did not tickle my fancy at all (but I did finish it, of course, you shouldn't waste alcohol!) Almost directly after our drinks arrived our food came out. I got the Juan de Fuca tacos since I had read raves about them on the internets, and DH got the yellow fin tuna. Both of our mains were fine. Not great, but fine. The only thing that was really bad about my tacos is the shells were stale. And not day old stale, like week old stale. Yuck. DH liked his mule drink though. So two stars for mediocre food and one good beverage, also the farm to table aspect. Minus three for the service. One note on the restaurant itself- it's small in there and there are a lot of hard surfaces so it is LOUD. That fact was exacerbated by the lady sitting in the corner with the most ear splitting laugh of all time. And her dining companions must have been pretty funny because we heard it every five seconds.

This is a really cute place and the concept of the northwest to Omaha using local, fresh foods is great and drew us there in the first place. The twisted sister salmon was really good as was the ribeye that my husband had. The problem was the meal left us wanting more; I wanted a carbohydrate as the salmon came with none, just some kale. I feel like for the price there should at least be some bread offered. Or the waitress should encourage us to get a soup or salad or something to go along with it. Also, the grapefruit gimlet was horrible. My husband was able to drink it so luckily it didn't go to waste. The food was good, but there is nothing to bring us back again. There are a lot of other similar type food places in Omaha which would be more memorable in my opinion.

Took my friend for a goodbye lunch today on the recommendation of another friend - we were cowed by how delicious everything was. I took a meal to go for lunch tomorrow and I will definitely be recommending this place to everyone! Creative and thoughtful food, brilliant flavor, friendly service. Excited to check the drinks next time, especially the Moscow Mule spinoffs!
(5)Jim K.
Wow. Read a recent review and stopped out here between lunch and dinner on Sat. Friendly staff, great food, cool atmosphere. Drinks and food sourced either locally (NE has some GREAT breweries!) or from Northwest. We don't live close but this is now our new "go-to" restaurant!

It's like having a little of Hawaii in Omaha! The bathrooms are labeled wahine and Kane. The menu items and decor are influenced by the Hawaiian Islands with a midwest flare. We have been here several times for business lunch and special occasions. My coworker is a good friend of the owners. They allowed us to use half of their restaurant for a retirement party. That day I give them a five. They received a four because the service is inconsistent. Their food deserves a five. I may have tried everything on the menu and they were all memorable. My favorite items are the tacos, seared ahi, mussels, fishermens stew, charcuterie and Seattle burger. Yes they have a touch of Seattle too. Their wine selection and cheese pairing is lovely. If you haven't eaten here, what the heck are you waiting for! This is a must try!
(4)Jeffrey S.
Twisted Cork Bistro is a very popular restaurant with average to above average food. It's a noisy little place specializing in salads, sandwiches and burgers. Ingredients seem fresh, and I give them decent marks for inventiveness and presentation. The burgers no better or worse than you can find at dozens of restaurants in Omaha. Overall, it's a nice looking restaurant with good atmosphere and a central location. The food quality is good, nothing special.

What a great meal. We had mussels and a steak. It was so good, staff excellent . Chefs even came out to visit.. Totally loved the place . 5 star in my book.

First time at Twisted Cork. As a Seattle native, looking for genuine Pacific Northwest fare. Showed up for appetizers and wine on a Friday without reservations. Limited happy hour options but the Juan De Fuca Fish Tacos were good. The happy hour wine list has only one Washington State red wine. The Washington wine list is extensive if you plan to buy a bottle. If however, you prefer a glass, the option for wine is limited. It is difficult to have a conversation in the tavern side because of the close proximity of the seating. Will try the lunch menu soon.
(4)Brian C.
Twisted Cork is a quant small restaurant with great food, very clean, and excellent service. Our server Elsa was the highlight of our visit. Can't wait to come back and see her for dinner.

Food was excellent variety of wines and micro beer to choose from. Definitely worth a try I will be back!

In Omaha for business and wanting to avoid the many chain restaurants, my colleague found this place on yelp and it's a home run. Is tucked away but well worth the trip for a great meal and good ambiance. Basically everything on the menu is local or rooted from the Pacific Northwest. They had a great craft beer selection and organic vodkas if that is your thing. Started with a sesame crusted tuna topped with pineapple salsa with a wasabi, Siracha aoli which was excellent. The tuna was perfect and was told they get their seafood delivered fresh daily. For the main I had the twisted cork burger which was one of the best burgers I've ever had. The patty was 80/20 beef/pork mix, all locally sourced and totally delish. It was served with white cheddar, pickled onions and house slaw and dead guy mustard and house slaw. It sounds like a lot, but don't be scared, they all fit together beautifully and stays together nicely with each bite. I guess the only downside is they don't deliver, which my colleague asked about because he wanted this burger again for lunch the next day! This burger was amazing, try it you won't be dissappointed!

I have visited this restaurant twice and enjoyed the food both times. The first visit I ordered fish tacos bust asked if shrimp could be substituted for the fish which they did with no problem. My husband ordered the burger and was very happy, but we couldn't say it was the best burger we've ever had. The beer selection is great, love that there are options from breweries in the Oregon area. The second time we visited we had family with us visiting from San Francisco so we brought them here as it's always a challenge to find unique food options in the Omaha area that they haven't had in SF. Our tab was supposed to be paid for by my boss, and the server completely forgot and had my boss' credit card information out on the server table for all passing by to see. This is no reflection on the good food, but it was poor service and an apology should have been sent to my boss. The atmosphere is cozy and chill; very nice for a night out with your spouse or a small group of friends. I would not recommend it for a large group or children.
(4)Julie E.
Comfortable bistro with a great menu, although I don't think I'll ever get past the JUAN de FUCA tacos. I may just order these every time! They are as tasty as they are beautiful! Stephanie stirred up a special Moscow Mule just for me! When dining here, I have a designated driver, you see my hubby is a bud light only guy and they don't serve any domestic beer. Good for me, sad for him!
(4)Jeremy S.
Great place for drinks, wine and food. Service is always great! One of the best burgers in town. In fact, get the sliders. You won't be disappointed. The cioppino is their best menu item in my opinion. If you've never had this San Fransisco / italian stew you need to try it here. It is the right amount of spicy tomato broth and plenty of seafood to fill you up. Don't forget to dip the baguette (from Le Quartier bakery) in the broth and soak it up.
(5)Reed N.
This was a 4.5 star experience for me. So close to five! I think I saw Twisted as having the best burger in Nebraska according to some Food TV network thing. I saw that on a wall poster in Blanc Burger in Kansas City. Comical, as Blanc could not make it in burger-crazy Omaha. Anyway, I had to try it. I immediately like TC, as they tell you where most of their ingredients come from. The nuts, pork, beef, etc. All the farms are printed on their menu. Your food has a name. That's cool. Be advised that good ingredients or known origin cost more money. Expect to pay a couple of buck more per entree here when comparing, say, a standard burger to their $13 burger from Hollenbeck Farm in Elmwood, NE. That's fair. I started with Mulligatawny soup. This was a hybrid curry/coconut soup, with a good medium spice level. I loved it. It was a little rustic and chunky in texture with flakes of coconut and not being a fully emulsified coconut milk and broth combo. The flavors are fine, just don't expect a silky texture. On to the famous burger. It was served on a perfect toasted bun, which was smaller than the patty diameter. Nobody should ever ask "where's the beef?" It was really tasty and tender... with the slaw and pickled onion providing crunch/tang and the cheese providing creaminess and the brioche a little sweetness. There is a balance to this burger... a harmony. It is not the full-on seasoned grease bomb you get at Stellas or the perfect diner burger you get at Dinkers. This is a bit more thought out. The kettle chips were delicious and the Apple Bleu slaw was so good I could just eat a plate of that stuff alone. Add a 471 Double IPA from Breckenridge Brewing and you have one hell of flavorful meal! My service as a solo diner seated at the bar was great.

There are so many fun, simple, casual bistros where I live, but in Omaha they seem to be a rarity. This restaurant serves good, fresh, and yes even healthy food! Even the burgers! They have expanded and now have two rooms. The waiter was hip, young, cool and did a fine job. We ordered two locally-brewed IPA's at 9.2% alcohol. Yum! The corn and potato and cumin soup was filling and good. Then on to the Twisted Cork burger. Organic grass-fed beef, interesting sauce, pickled red onions, potato chips, a slaw, and a potato-bread bun. Wow. Really good. Best food I've ever had in Omaha. Gotta keep searching for modern cuisine, it DOES exist in Omaha!!!

I wasn't impressed. I went for brunch and got the hash. It was pure salt. I had to eat it on dry toast to make it edible. The horseradish quark was also leftoff
(2)Sylvia M.
This place is adorable. The mizo salmon tacos are amazing as is the caprese sandwich. Stefanie, a server, is always smiling and makes lemonade from scratch for you if you are nice :). Great food. Great customer service.
(5)Brenda C.
Went in just to see what type of menu they had. It happened to be happy hour so I got a twist on a Moscow Mule and had the mussels that were on the happy hour menu. Loved the place as soon as we walked in. It was early so we were the only customers at the time. Sat at the bar and a wonderful bartender/waiter explained the background of the restaurant and the menu. Sorry we didn't have time for anything other than the mussels but would absolutely go back and try the food. Really enjoyed the time that we were there.
(4)Caitlin O.
Absolutely delicious. One of the best burgers in town, no question. Also have had the mussels, tomato soup, and a few other items - all good. Intimate atmosphere makes for good conversation. Love the local ingredients.
(5)Laurel R.
Had a lovely dinner here, food was excellent (I tried the seasonal pumpkin, goat cheese and spinach raviolis - awesome!). Wine was delicious and the server was very educated on parings. Loved the décor, upscale comfy. Will definitely be back!
(4)Amiee H.
Great service!!! I ordered a bottle of wine that I didn't care for and she gladly took it away and brought me something I liked! Classy!! Great food. Cool atmosphere.

My sister and I decided to go to the Twisted Cork on a Saturday afternoon and I'm pretty sure we were the first customers for the day haha. It was super nice out, so we decided to eat out on the patio. (just a side note - no dogs allowed even on the patio!) I got the Juan de Fuca tacos (aka the salmon tacos) that everyone seems to be raving about and I don't know if it was over-hyped or something, but I just found them to be okay to be honest. And I LOVE salmon, so it was kind of disappointing. It only comes with TWO small tacos with a side of white rice. And they were served in hardshells, which I don't like at all (more of a soft taco person). And it was about $11, I think. Not worth it in my opinion. My sister got the Bang Bang Chicken salad. YUUUM. It had pieces of chicken with greens, almonds, carrots, bits of ramen, etc. The dressing was very tasty! Highly recommend for someone who wants to have a healthy option, but still have it taste good! Oh, and our waitress was super nice and friendly. Great service! Overall, I'd come back, but not for the salmon tacos.
(3)Kimberly P.
Nice craft beer selection, excellent Pacific Northwest fare. I had the Ginger-crusted Red Salmon, my husband had the Grilled Sea Bass, and my mother-in-law had the Salmon Tacos. They were all amazing, and my mother-in-law said this was the best fish taco she's ever had. My father-in-law had the burger and said it was pretty good. The server was attentive and the food arrived quickly. She split the bill within about 30 seconds when asked. We are visiting from Florida, but if I lived here, I'd be a regular.
(5)Ingrid S.
Very chic but I'm too hungry to care...(oh but I do!) This is a farm-to-table restaurant with a menu that is full of must-try items. Enough stuff to keep this foodie extremely happy. I had the mussels but my colleague had the house burger....mine was delish and he thought he was in heaven. The wine list is extensive with many selections from the Pacific NW. The waitstaff? Well I did come in during that in-between lunch-dinner twilight zone. She was helpful and cheerful nonetheless. Truly a great place.
(4)Rick M.
Excellent food! I enjoyed the kettle chips, the caprese and tomato soup entree. Interesting choices on the menu. I am eager to return to try something else. Outside patio available. Not loud inside. Service was excellent.
(4)Andrew B.
We had really high expectations. This place had great reviews on yelp so we thought we would try it. The wine list was great, decor was amazing. Place is a little cluttered seating wise but we could look past that. Portions size for appetizers for price was extremely small - but again we looked passed it for out main meals. Thoroughly disappointed. The "famous" burger they have is pretty ordinary, my girlfriends steak was not very good either. We won't be going back. Maybe for a wine, but that's it.
(3)Whit E.
The food here is fantastic!!! I am originally from Seattle and have lived in Southern CA for the past 13 years. Being accustomed to high quality fish, I was amazed at the quality of the salmon (I had the Twisted Sister, which is Red Salmon). My husband had the Twisted Burger and it was exceptional. We also shared the Twisted Salad which had a complex combination of flavors. Excellent beer selection (as well as wine). Dessert was the best I have had in years (chocolate ganache with a custard center). Price was extremely reasonable for the quality. I would highly recommend this place and hope I get to go again one day!
(5)Rhondia K.
Salmon slider was terrific!!!
(4)Jon R.
Fabulous food northwest flair definitely one of the great restaurants in omaha especially when you consider that none of these restaurants in omaha seem to have wine from the northwest. If you're interested in quality ingredients from local vendors put together in great recipes this is the place to be. Don't forget to ask for a good wine recommendation to go with your menu selection .
(5)Mark E.
Service was great. We've chatted with the entire staff--including the owner--and they're all lovely people. It's close to where we live. We really want to LOVE this place. Too bad the food is "meh" at best...
(3)Alice H.
YUM! The ambience is so quaint & welcoming this evening. The staff is warm, happy, efficient & embracing of each party that walks in the door. I had the tomato soup which had a kick and was delicious. For dinner, the seared Yellowfin Tuna. Could cut with a fork. Delightful! Extensive wine list from the Northwest. Thoroughly enjoyed my Wine by Joe Chardonnay. Many thanks to Melissa for taking outstanding care of me. My first visit to Omaha starts off
(5)Aren R.
Really cool restaurant. Good ambience and look. Food was all fresh and made with very good ingredients. I've been here twice and look forward to coming back. One of the better restaurants in Omaha!
(4)Stefanie N.
I love their corn chowder! It's delicious and perfectly seasoned everytime! As for their buger that was featured on the Food Network, it was good but I've had better. Their salmon burgers are great, they definitely don't skimp out on giving you decent sized fillets. As for the theme of the food/restaurant, I would have to agree with one of the reviewers, that its a tad confusing. Hawaiin and Seattle fusion? Whatever the case the food is delish, but if you're thinking it's Pacific NW cuisine, think again.
(4)Ann W.
I'm a bit floored that so many of the reviews for this restaurant are so glowing. Maybe my experience was not the norm. It wasn't a bad experience, but certainly nowhere near exceptional. A co-worker and I went here for dinner during a recent visit to Omaha. I spied the Honolulu Salad on the menu and immediately decided I had to have it. It is described on the menu as, "grilled wild jumbo shrimp, lime-jalapeno vinaigrette, mango, avocado, tomato, crisp prosciutto, Maytag bleu cheese, macadamia nuts, mixed greens." Sounds delish, right? It was actually just barely ok. The greens were fresh and lovely, but the salad dressing, despite a bit of bite from the jalapeno, was otherwise relatively flavorless. There were three over-cooked rubbery shrimp on my salad that were NOT grilled as described on the menu, a negligible amount of bleu cheese, slimy room temperature thawed frozen mango, a couple of slices of avocado and no tomato at all. The one thing on the salad that helped a bit to amp up the flavor was the macadamia nuts which were a nice touch on an otherwise lackluster salad. The salad was over-priced at $19. For that price, I would expect a pretty outstanding salad, but what I received definitely missed the target. Service was a bit slow considering that the restaurant wasn't very busy, but water was refilled fairly quickly and our waitress was pleasant if not a bit perfunctory in the performance of her duties. This is not a restaurant I would go out of my way to visit again, but it wasn't so bad that I'd never be willing to try it again.

Good service, good food, good time. A cozy bistro (32 seats) in a business plaza off of Pacific Ave. Fully natural and organic. Nice selection of wine from the Northwest. Mostly seafood on the menu with a chicken and meat entree available. We had the Filet Mignon, which while small, was extremely tasty and the Seafood Duet consisting of shrimp and scallops which were prepared well and not overcooked. The duet was served with jasmine rice and a mango/coconut curry sauce (very nice). Be sure to make reservations. We saw people try and walk in who had to be turned away.
(5)Amy O.
The Twisted Cork Bistro is a great place, and recently expanded. The menu is unique and the wine selection vast. I enjoyed my experience at the Bistro!
(5)Ouida W.
Went to twisted cork for a post valentine's day brunch and wasn't overly impressed. The Bloody Mary with pickled asparagus was my favorite. Was excited for bacon jam on the bacon Benedict but I don't think it was there at all and the bread was very tough. The bread on the totem tartine was also very tough. I would not go back for brunch.
(2)D K.
Excellent food, very friendly attendants, great atmosphere. A little pricey, but very tasty.
(4)Francisco F.
This is my must stop place every time I travel to Omaha. Great service and the food is extremely fresh. I love the fact that they have natural organic products (including beer, wine and sodas with real sugar). The soups are delicious and the salads always crisp and fresh. The burgers and the salmon tacos are a must. Try this place, you won't regret it!
(5)Doug W.
Holy cow! We tried this place for the first time this week. After a week of bad service, I was blown away by the very spicy and vivacious waitress right away! My wife and I thought she was fantastic, and so knowledgeable about the menu. She quickly navigated us through, while explaining the whole "farm to table" concept. I ordered the burger and my wife ordered the chicken. Exactly how she explained it-the chicken had a sweet bourbon reduction and the burger had all the juicy flavors mixed inside with cheeses. And to think...its all local! There is a lot of great food in this town, but the service is what I feel is lacking at a lot of places. We had such a good experience-Steph was fun and she was genuine. The only thing that was a little off was the music. I would have liked to hear some jazz as opposed to American Pie. The atmosphere was great. Food was great. Service was outstanding. We will be back.
(5)Chloe P.
Yum! Stopped at this place on a road trip (found it based on yelp) and it was good! We wanted a quick but good meal. We sat in the pub and had a few beers and some food. I had the seattle burger and my mom had the salmon tacos. Both were very good. Well cooked, and properly seasoned. The salmon tacos had a really yummy bacon mayo on it, and the blue corn shell was perfect; not too thick or thin like some hard shell tacos are. The seattle burger was flavored which coffee, which I was hesitant about at first but I am glad I ordered it. The goat cheese and rosemary was a great compliment. The decor was nice, very clean/modern but with a cozy feel. The staff was friendly and helpful.
(4)Jordan J.
Great food options and flavor. A bit pricy. Would definitely recommend this place but be prepared to pay more than most spots.
(4)Reid R.
Great Food! Don't order the Lavash because its PERFECT!!! Yummy Service Is Great, but they could have 1 high chair at least.........
(5)Megan K.
Yum. I was pleasantly surprised by my recent trip to Twisted Cork Bistro. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon to a busy lunch crowd and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. It was worth it though, as the food was delicious and fairly priced. Also, they have a decent beer offering to wash down the food with. My boyfriend and I split the Twisted Cork Burger and the Juan de Fuca Tacos, both of which we were pleased with. The burger was extremely flavorful and paired nicely with the slaw and chips on the side. As for the Tacos, I've never had salmon tacos (a tragedy, I know) so I was excited to try these. They didn't disappoint as the avocado aioli, bacon, and pico de gallo complimented the salmon and was all wrapped up in a satisfying crunch. I wish I could say more about my experience here, but the service, atmosphere, and food came as a welcome surprise to my idea of the Omaha restaurant scene. The next time I'm in town, I'll be back.
(4)The Prophet C.
Enjoyed an early lunch here the other day, sockeye salmon salad was great. I have yet to have a bad or even average meal here and the service and attitude is always great.
(5)Matt G.
I honestly can't think of anything wrong with my experience at Twisted Cork. But for some reason, a 5 star rating just doesn't seem right. The service was great and the beer selection and prices were definitely a huge plus. For dinner I got the Seattle cioppino because, well, cioppino is probably one of the best things ever invented. If you're not familiar with the dish, it originated in San Francisco, CA and, I guess you could call it a tomato/fennel based seafood stew. This one has salmon (that's what made it "Seattle" I suppose) instead of crab, mussles, shrimp, a huge scallop and avocado garnishing. I thought it was good. The flavor profile contributed by the fennel was noticeable...which was great for me because I am a big fan of the stuff. Some of my other friends got the seared ahi appetizer and the fish looked fresh. In fact it looked exactly like seared ahi I got at the Common Market in Seattle...whether or not it was even close to as good as that one was, I can only guess but my friends really seemed to enjoy it. One thing I noticed as a little curious, being from Hawaii, were the "Hawaiian" things on the menu. I'm not so sure that including macadamia nuts or mango in a dish makes it "hawaiian". It's sort of like putting pineapple on a pizza and calling it hawaiian. One major plus, however, was that I noticed they had Aloha Maid Guava juice on the menu. Let me just say that first, Guava juice is awesome. When I used to bartend, it was something I'd drink every single day. In Hawaii, Aloha Maid juices aren't typically the type of quality of juices that you'd find at most restaurants. Despite it's branding, I don't even think Aloha Maid is made in Hawaii. Regardless, the stuff is tasty and isn't a bad introduction to Guava if you've never had it. One last thing that really caught my eye was that they had affogato. Affogatto = gelato w/espresso. If you can imagine how awesome that usually is, then yeah. And although I didn't order it at Twisted Cork, I can only imagine it's as delicious as everything else was. Definitely recommended! Oh and this is Twisted CORK not FORK.
(4)Brandi R.
I was a little concerned when I pulled up that there were no other cars in the parking lot but my company was set on trying this little gem. I ordered the salmon and beef sliders, the salmon slider was phenomenal, the beef was ok. My friend ordered the fish tacos and could not stop raving about them. Please know before you go that this restaurant is a "organic" friendly place... the only sweetener they have is Truvia and all of their sodas are stevia sweetened. Cute ambiance as well. Great little find.
(4)Erika T.
This is the perfect place for a Friday Funday! I had the Juan de Fuca Tacos and my sister had the Twisted Cork Burger. Both were made with super fresh ingredients and each had a unique twist to them - delicious! I'd also highly recommend the Templeton Mule from their Libations Menu. Our server was super nice and genuine; he even came to wish us a good day as we got into our car. Also - although we opted to sit inside and beat the heat, there is a great little patio area.
(5)WAJ W.
9 months later and we tried to return for lunch on a Friday. There's a major construction project on Pacific Street so we called ahead to make sure they were seating for lunch. They were, and more--the woman ("R") was rude about it. When I asked if the construction would mean we'd have to pull in from a different direction or anything like that, she insulted my intelligence. The end.

Awful. Really Awful. I went on date night with my boyfriend a couple weekends ago, and maybe we went to a different place than the rest of the people that have reviewed this place. I saw that this place had some good reviews and we were going to go out West anyways, so we decided to try it. I only give the one star for the cozy feel of the restaurant, our nice server, and the good beer list. My boyfriend got the Steak Oscar. He ordered it medium, and it was definitely more on the medium-rare side. It was flavorless, and the meat had a strange texture. I got the house special, Cioppino. Being originally from the Northwest and also with family in the Bay Area (SF), I was really excited that this place was supposed to be a Hawaiian/Seattle theme place. The menu doesn't really reflect that, except for the Cioppino. I LOVE cioppino. It's supposed to be this yummy, spicy, robust, savory, and steaming hot seafood soup/stew with a crusty baguette or crostini to sop up that goodness. What I got at Twisted Cork was a sad, lukewarm seafood medley consisting of one rubbery scallop, a few mussels, a few dry shrimp, and an EXTREMELY overcooked piece of salmon resting on top of a chunky tomato sauce more appropriate to be poured over some pasta and a few pieces of untoasted ciabatta bread. I only ate it because I was starving. Both dishes were around $25 a piece. Not only is that overpriced for the quality of food we received, but even if they were $10, I wouldn't order those dishes again. In fact, I will not be visiting this restaurant again. Such a disappointment. Being from out of town, I've actually really enjoyed most of the restaurants I've been to in Omaha, but DEFINITELY NOT this one. P.S. On the other hand, I get my eyebrows done (she is the only threader I know of in town) w/Yon in the same building, and she's AMAZING!
(1)Denise P.
Staying at the nearby Marriott Omaha -- this is just around the corner and it so surprisingly original. I mean really, really surprising. Worth a try. Food quality is outstanding.
(5)Anna H.
I've visited Twisted Cork Bistro four times and each merited 5 stars. Service is top notch, the atmosphere is cozy, and the food/wine divine. First time we went with another couple, upon their recommendation. Outstanding, fresh ingredients. I had the steak and a delightful pinot noir. Wines were very reasonably priced. Next two visits were lunch, featuring the salmon sliders and chowder (oh. my. gosh) and the salmon tacos. My husband had the famous burger, also tasty. My last visit was a girls night out, and I had the chicken. So fresh, so yummy. Just the right amount of seasoning and sauce. I would've licked the plate if I could. Can't wait to go back!
(5)Ross P.
I'm not even going to be specific. This place is great, with awesome food all around. If you don't like it, you shouldn't eat food at all. Just die.
(5)Mike M.
Like a previous poster, I have nothing bad to say about TCB. The food was good, but I felt a little pricey for what you got. I had the Twisted Cork Burger which was recommended. The ingredients were good and I especially enjoyed the apple slaw. Portion size was very lunch like. Not big, but not small enough that birds wouldn't have gotten full. It's near a fire station and when I ordered the sirens went off. I thought I had won a super prize, but unfortunately it was just a fire somewhere. Oh well.
(4)Amy K.
I had lunch at The Twisted Cork Bistro while in Omaha for business. My favorite spot so far! I got the Caprese sandwich with the tomato soup. The soup was phenomenal, and it wad actually more of a roasted red pepper/tomato soup. A little, fantastic, kick to it. The sandwich was also delicious. My coworker had the smoked salmon and there was absolutely nothing left on his plate when he was finished, he made sure he got it all. I have two more weeks in Omaha and can't wait to go back for dinner and try some of their wine pairings. Oh, service was perfect too. Laura was very knowledgeable about the menu. Food came out less than 10 minutes. I felt like I was on vacation while eating at the Twisted Cork.
(5)Rick B.
Stopped in on way back to Omaha from Lincoln for lunch Saturday. This spot puts out some serious food, commitment to fresh quality ingredients clearly factors in. Loved the Northwest Salad and TC Burger. Salad had tasty apple vinaigrette, fresh greens, sliced pear, almonds, pecans, and pistachios. Burger was perfect medium rare and mixed grass fed beef with pork for a bratwurst flavor that paired perfectly with apple slaw. Lemon bar for dessert also made from scratch, even took time to add fresh lemon rind to whip cream.
(5)Hiram D.
So far, this is my favorite lunch spot in Omaha. The burger and the salmon tacos are excellent, all the flavors balanced and distinct. I have tried all the soups and can recommend them all. Service is efficient, knowledgeable, polite, and friendly. Nice selection of beers, even have a hard cider available.
(5)Sarah G.
I really enjoyed my first time at TC and can't belive I hadn't heard of it before. My first thought after looking at the menu is that this is the kind of place I could easily fall in love with. Local business using locally obtained food with a committment to natural foods all while excluding the use of preservatives... these things make my heart go pitter patter. I actually didn't even make it inside Twisted Cork and therefore can't comment at all on the interior. It was such an absolutely nice day I just couldn't force myself to check it out... next time. We split the Steak Sandwich, Lavosch Pizza and I had a Ginger Ale. Everything was absolutely delicious. Simple enough that you can taste all the ingredients and appreciate them for what they are individually as well as how they compliment each-other. I honestly haven't eaten anywhere else in recent memory that I couldn't wait to rush back to at the soonest opportunity. I was exceedingly jealous of the table next door that sipped large cool glasses of white wine over lunch. If it wern't for the parking lot to my right, I could have easily imagined myself on vacation. Except for the fact that I was on a lunch break and had to rush back to work. Service was a little slow, but the meal more than made up for it.

Craving the Hawaiian Nachos right now
(5)Jennifer W.
Great atmosphere, real food and extensive wine collection. Employees are more than willing to take time and talk wine with you. Enjoyed my night and would go back in a heart beat.
(5)Christine S.
Had a good lunch here last Saturday. They have a selection of iced teas, if you like sweet tea try the plantation tea, if you prefer unsweetened they have both green and black iced tea. All were strong enough, and made with good tea. I had the Sockeye Salmon & Greens salad and my husband tried the Twisted Cork Burger. I really enjoyed my salad, the salmon was done to your taste, and the salad was very well dressed. The burger was good, but did not blow my husband away. Plenty moist, and done well, with nicely melted cheese, but it just wasn't amazing. I really liked the interior of the restaurant, but thought it was very loud with the high ceilings and open plan for only having 2/3 the tables full. Overall I would like to go back again, but might try it for dinner next time because their tasting menu looks good.
(4)Michaela O.
The vibe was nice, the service was WONDERFUl, and the salad with mango and shrimp in it was an explosion of flavor! The restaurant seemed to be one part Hawaiian, one part Seattle, and one part Wine Bistro. Hmmm....I'm a California girl, so I can't say I completely understand or support their choice to serve wine exclusively from the NW, but hey, at least they're consistent. We also had the burger, which was pleasant, but not spectacular. I know, I'm a hater. :) In all, a funky little place to try. And make reservations because in true Bistro style, it's small!
(4)Liz L.
OMG. My first time to Nebraska and I did not expect this. Awesome is all I can say. Got the tasting menu (w wine of course.). Perfect.
(5)billy c.
Always fantastic food. Small bistro with big flavors. Nationally famous for their award winning burger - but don't stop off there. This should be a regular addition to your Omaha Foodie List! (And prices are great; considering the fresh ingredients and recipes!) Now, how about that second location downtown??
(5)Cmh H.
Salmon tacos were very good. Husband had the burger with chips. I tried a bite and it was very flavorful. The place is rather small. The service on a slower Saturday afternoon could have been better. Our server ended up chatting with some people at another table, and it took a while to finally get our food. All in all, we will return for an afternoon lunch if we are in the neighborhood.
(3)Rachelle K.
My Favorite place in Omaha. Unique atmosphere, Great Food, extensive wine list and Unbelievable Service. My favorites are the salmon sandwich with corn chowder and the vegetarian cracker bread pizza. Excellent.
(5)Lisa G.
This place is great--absolutely simple and fresh. It plays to popular demand of being organic and homegrown. Try the salmon and burger--you can't go wrong!
(5)Mary G.
Wonderful intimate place with outstanding selection of seafood. Interesting and creative menu. One of the few top restaurants with many selections that are not only delicious but also heart-healthy. Just had dinner with the seared yellow fin ahi, nori rice cake, wasabi aioli, pineapple salsa, market greens, and wasabi vinaigrette. Fantastic! One of Omaha's best little gems!
(5)Kerry G.
In between the great reviews here and the emphasis on fresh, sustainably grown/harvested food, a philosophy I always love to support, I've been wanting to try this place for months, and we finally managed a trip for lunch yesterday. The ambiance was very nice, and like many of the other reviewers here, the owner stopped by for a chat and actually took our order himself. My husband got the Salmon Slider with tomato soup instead of corn chowder. The soup was great, with a very pleasant Southwestern zing, and the salmon was perfect and moist. I had the duet, with one Salmon Slider and one Twisted Cork burger. The burger is a beef-pork blend, nicely seasoned, and it came out a true medium-rare as requested, and very juicy. The side was an excellent, tender coleslaw with a nice, light sauce - very tasty, and I say that as someone who usually hates coleslaw. We got a Ghiradelli truffle cookie for dessert - yummy, but not as outstanding as the rest of the meal. The Chocolate Moose Cafe still reigns supreme in the Omaha area for desserts. Pricey for Omaha relative to the amount of food you get, but well worth the splurge!
(5)Meg M.
Great food and great service! I have been here multiple times and everything I have had is great from the drinks to the food. The owners are very friendly and take the time to meet their customers. Being from the northwest this is a nice reminder of home!
(5)Jeff H.
Wow... this was a REALLY good spot for lunch. I was driving through Nebraska and had a bit of time to kill before my flight out of Omaha so stopped in at this unassuming place. The result was nothing I would have expected for Omaha. It's a fairly small restaurant... maybe 15 tables in a single room. The place feels very homey but with a definite elegance to it. Incredible ambiance. As far as the menu, everything looked good... I hope that I can return sometime in the near future to try some of the other options. But I opted for a dish that was a combination of two of their dishes so I could sample as much of the menu in a single plate as possible. It was the 'slider' combo which has a small beef burger with a small salmon sandwich served with sides of cole slaw and chips. In writing this I understand that this sounds completely underwhelming. But this was in no way your average burger, chips and cole slaw. Everything is prepared with the highest quality ingredients and served perfectly. Fabulous garnishes and cheeses and sauces used in the preparation made this a REALLY incredible lunch. I think I read that the owner is from Seattle and has the salmon flown in from the fish market in Seattle. The quality of the ingredients was unmistakable. Service was good, warm and unobtrusive. The owner came by and checked in on me between visits from the waitress. And the owner sat and chatted with other tables throughout my visit. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. I can't think of a single complaint and just given my expectations for Omaha, this was a complete and unexpectedly good experience!
(5)Jim C.
This place is outstanding! Clever well contrived creative twists to basic wholesome comfort foods. My wife and I loved everything...salad...soup...sammy....seriously we could eat here every night! Also well balanced wine list and beers! You'll miss a diamond in the rough if you don't go! Jim and Holly

Omaha would benefit from more establishments like the Twisted Cork. I mean it in a most flattering way when I state that you can actually taste that which you are eating. I generally prefer to post regarding cuisine of the weird, abhorrent or campy, but the Cork embodies none of these. Thus, I am inclined to play it straight. The Twisted Cork is located in Shaker Place. This is an "ante-bellum" inspired strip just off I-680 that looks like it should house a country gentlemen law firm that one might be more accustomed to seeing when stopping in Benevolence, GA (pop. 322). And in fact, during our last dinner there, a stately, goateed, gray-haired fellow stopped in for takeout. All that was missing was his seersucker suit and a , "Y'alls not from 'round here, are ya now?" The Cork occupies the space of the erstwhile Synchronicitea (they should have named it Stupiditea) and is next to nightspot "The Naughty" (they can always change it to Naughtea if they lose their liquor license). In between are a law firm and a dry cleaner. This begs the question, would Omaha be better organized with Koko the Gorilla manning the zoning office? In any case, the space is warm. The red room seats maybe 25, and one has a sightline into the kitchen. The pace of dinner is leisurely and the owner/operator staff is friendly. The owner couple moved to Omaha from Seattle to open Twisted Cork. The restaurant features fresh, often local and often wild/organic ingredients. The flavors are clean and the preperations simple. The ingredients take center stage here and the kitchen merely plays accompaniment. The salads are well constructed and a diner can actually detect vegetables. The endive, grapefruit and avocado salad allows its ingredients to shine through, drizzled faintly (and adequately) with a light vinaigrette. It is a pleasant combination. The house salad is sprinkled with walnuts and maytag blue cheese. Fruit and nuts complement many of the dishes, including the fantastic cheese plate. The soups are a strength of the kitchen. The corn chowder was delicious, light, and only partially pureed. The consistency was perfect and the seasoning did not overwhelm the corn. The tomato bisque also reflected the chef's light touch. Homemade croutons gave it some life and a salty kick. The main courses did not disappoint. The house burger is beef-pork hybrid delicately peppered and served on a soft, sweet, buttery bun. The burger is satisfying, but the homemade potato chips that come alongside make this a meal. The sockeye salmon is cooked adroitly (i.e. they do not turn it into a hockey puck). It is shipped from Seattle and it is the real deal. Served over potatoes or rice, this is one of the better fish offerings in town. At lunch, I dig the bistro sandwich with tillamook cheddar and granny smith apple slices. Almost all of the wines are Washington/Oregon offerings and there is little markup on them. You cannot miss with a northwest pinot noir. I am told the coffee is Seattle-worthy, though I cannot vouch for it personally. Save room for a chocolate, chocolate chip cookie. Being small and family operated, the Cork is only opened two nights a week (more of a lunch place) and is sometimes booked for private dinners. If you have young kids, it is BYOH (high chair). These are really sweet people making great food.

Oh, yum. We went in for lunch after seeing the World-Herald's article a little while ago. Being from Oregon, we went in hoping for something delicious and familiar and met with success. I was hard-pressed to decide what to order because of all the tempting options, but settled on The Duet (mini burger + mini salmon sandwich) and subbed out the Kettle Chips for corn chowder. The salmon was my favorite part of the meal. I could have eaten four of five of those things, what with the lemon-mayo and basil and perfectly cooked salmon, oh my it was tasty. The burger was nicely seasoned with multiple layers of flavor. The corn chowder was very good, but I would have liked it a bit richer. Service was friendly and attentive; our coffee cups and water glasses were refilled often--I do with they would be better about keeping their fingers away from the lip of the glasses, however. Nice decor, comfortable setting. We are already planning to go back for the three-course meal. Must try dessert, salad and wine!

Great little Bistro with fantastic food, primo wine selection, and personal touch customer service! Whether it's the best burger in Nebraska you're seeking (per Food Network) or fresh seafood...it's a must!

Was VERY optimistic when we arrived. Stellar beer list, funky environment, great menu... But then it started. The mediocrity. They were out of two of the tap beers. Thinking the Seattle-inspired menu would make Cioppino a safe bet... So I went for it. With the recommendation of our server who, to her credit was very attentive to our group. Had the Prairie Fire appetizer - sirloin slices on potato with cabbage melange and spicye - really liked it! I was REALLY looking forward to the Cioppino. Then it showed up. While I was warned it was "spicy" - the salty Ragu-esque pureed sauce with bits of overcooked seafood (I could not find any salmon) disappointed. It was too salty to eat. My colleague's steak was ordered medium and served medium rare. Our server did a stellar job, expressing appreciation - so she gets high marks for trying to recover and delivering a solid response - taking the marinara sauce in a bowl off the bill and bringing dessert on her/the house. She earned a solid tip. Not sure if I'd be coming back for the food... The kitchen needs an overhaul, methinks.

What a surprise to find such a neat restaurant tuck away in a strip of stores next to the hotel I was staying in. I had yellowfin tuna seared and raw inside with a pineapple salsa over a bed of greens with a wasabi sauce. Yummy is all I can say. A decent glass of wine served in a reidel wine glass. My friend ate a lovely smelling and tasting scallop and shrimp curry with jasmine rice. Excellent restaurant with very friendly owner/wife combo there to serve.

I need to come back and sample more stuff. It probably isn't the smartest idea to come for dinner because it is on the pricey side... but given the freshness of th ingredients and how they are cooked to perfection, the price is right. As much as I like the plating, the long plate for the steak and shrimp course made it a little awkward when I tried to rest my knife somewhere along the edge. I wonder what others thought about that.

Just had lunch at the T C B ... LOVE it there. My husband and I arrived a little late for lunch, but were lucky to score two seats at the window bar. I had been there once before, and had been longing to go back ever since. I ordered the wild salmon brioche sandwich with corn chowder and slaw. The salmon was moist and tender, the bread lightly sweet and oh so soft. The sandwich also had a simple mayo with shreds of wonderful basil! Every bite was a treat! The slaw is so simple and flavorful! Hint of onion ... a bit of sweetness and tart apple with the light vinegar dressing and crumbles of blue cheese ... (Can you tell I LOVED it!) I shamelessly have tried to replicate it at home to no avail ... I will just continue to go back! The chowder was also full of flavor and the two colors of corn I can only assume were cut fresh from the cob. I paired it with the owners suggestion with a generous glass of Pinot ... It was a GREAT lunch! I GREATLY appreciate the attention to detail and passion for great food and wine. The owner was actually our waiter ... he felt like a friend and took the time to talk to us ... one could tell he loves what he does ... it shows! I cannot wait to return!

Excellent food and atmosphere! The soup was amazing! The service could have been a little better though. I did have to get up and fill our water glasses myself once. Larger glasses might help.

I wanted to love this place, especially after reading all the 5 stars reviews, but it was definitely a mixed bag. The Good: Atmosphere was very quaint and warm. They do a lot with the small space they have and the smells were amazing (grilled steak was predominant). The corn chowder was fantastic - almost like a white chili with corn instead of beans and chicken. It was spicy (but not too much) and delicious. Even my husband liked it when he tasted it and he hates corn chowder. The Bad: Our server was just OK. She looked put out from the time she seated us and her manner was perfunctory at best (the waiter for the table next door to us was the complete opposite - very warm and welcoming). I ordered a shrimp appetizer and had they not overcooked it (definitely fishy tasting and rubbery) it would have been good. My husband got the hamburger and again, it was OK. It had a more pronounced pork flavor than beef and was kind of dry. The bun was too large and overpowered the rest of the ingredients. We would give it one more try - there were several items that looked good on the menu. But I'm not in any rush to go there again.

This is based on 1 visit. I had the Twisted Burger as recommended by the waitress. Overall, it wasn't so great for a $10 hamburger. There was pork sausage mixed into the beef which, for me, lowered the quality, and meant they had to cook it well done. The spices did give it a slight sophistication, but I don't understand why it would be trendy to add pork fat (Those cooks on TV are fat, you know). The accompanying potato chips tasted like silghtly improved ruffles. The bun was was brioche and way too buttery to go with the rich burger. The accompanying coleslaw was very nice and fresh with apples and blue cheese. It was the highlight. The atmosphere was a nice combination of warm and modern; I might bring a date there if in the neighborhood. It was small, too; so, I understood the prices have to be a bit higher. But, overall it was one of those meals that I didn't feel so great afterwards but didn't really get enough to eat either. I'd give it 2.5 if I could; I'll give it 3 because I've only been there once, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Delicious burgers served with great side dish. Wine was a little pricey but delicious none the less. A dear friend and I pick somewhere new and interesting for lunch when we're in town. Beautifully decorated, fun atmosphere and attentive staff. Good job!!!

(5)Royce M.

(2)Chris F.

(5)Scott S.
Food was excellent variety of wines and micro beer to choose from. Definitely worth a try I will be back!
(5)Caitlin O.
Absolutely delicious. One of the best burgers in town, no question. Also have had the mussels, tomato soup, and a few other items - all good. Intimate atmosphere makes for good conversation. Love the local ingredients.

(5)Kari R.
(4)Laurel R.
(5)Carolyn H.
My first visit to Omaha starts off
(5)Brandi R.

The end.
(1)Aren R.
Really cool restaurant. Good ambience and look. Food was all fresh and made with very good ingredients. I've been here twice and look forward to coming back. One of the better restaurants in Omaha!
(4)Monica C.
Oh well.

Salmon tacos were very good. Husband had the burger with chips. I tried a bite and it was very flavorful. The place is rather small. The service on a slower Saturday afternoon could have been better. Our server ended up chatting with some people at another table, and it took a while to finally get our food. All in all, we will return for an afternoon lunch if we are in the neighborhood.

My Favorite place in Omaha. Unique atmosphere, Great Food, extensive wine list and Unbelievable Service. My favorites are the salmon sandwich with corn chowder and the vegetarian cracker bread pizza. Excellent.

This place is great--absolutely simple and fresh. It plays to popular demand of being organic and homegrown. Try the salmon and burger--you can't go wrong!

Great food and great service! I have been here multiple times and everything I have had is great from the drinks to the food. The owners are very friendly and take the time to meet their customers. Being from the northwest this is a nice reminder of home!

Wow... this was a REALLY good spot for lunch.
