Went here again for the 4th time. Still not loving the place. We ordered the fisherman's soup ($12), which was actually quite decent. Then we had an order of beef pad thai ($8), and I subsequently ordered chicken pad thai by default. The beef was extremely dry, tasting like cardboard. Both dishes were covered in a heavy ketchup-like sauce, not a tasty sauce one would expect with Pad Thai. The search for my favorite thai food in Omaha continues...

The food is always hot and fresh and they make the best vegetable fritters I have ever eaten. I always eat the Pad Thai and different curries when I eat at a Thai restaurant several times. I am so hooked on their Pad Thai that I can never get myself to order anything else. The prices are incredibly reasonable. They do seem a bit understaffed at times during lunch and can take a while to get your order.

This is a great little Thai place that I tried when on travel with work. It is located in a strip mall kind of away from most things, but was the closest Thai place to the Marriott that I was staying at. With Thai food being my bosses and mine new favorite food joints to try while at new places this place did not disappoint. We had a thing of egg rolls for an appetizer that was nothing really special, but our main course was really good. Since we enjoy curries we each had the pineapple curry with shrimp. The meal was a decent size with rice, and surprisingly really good. I normally eat green curry dishes and my boss likes the red curry and we both enjoyed the pineapple curry. It seems to be based on a yellowish curry sauce and had great flavor to it. Service was average for a place like this and overall it is a place I would go back to as I did enjoy the meal there. I am a fan of this place will have to try more dishes here for sure, but appetizers you can pass on.

Small establishment that I've driven by many of times, decided to try on a weekday afternoon. So my gf orders some type of pad Thai noodles, which contained scrambled eggs, with a heat level of 4, nonetheless she didn't eat it, nor did I. I got a shrimp stew with sticky rice, omg I love sticky rice, and my meal was were tasty. We also ordered some spring rolls, which were very yummy, their sweet and sour sauce was more of a chili sauce, which was the best chili sauce I've yet to come across. Long story short, I don't think Thai is our thing. On to the next...

Have had better. I went here on the insistent of my co-worker. We were both tired and just wanted something quick and good. We got our food fast but the quality was definitely lacking. Soft Tofu for appetizer was okay but the coconut soup was too salty. The sauce on my chap che was overwhelming and the veggies were overcooked. I could be harsh since I live in south Florida and good thai food is abundant in the area.

The first time I ate here was in the late 90s when I moved back to Omaha after a long absence. Back then, I found the food and service to be exceptional, with no punches being pulled on the level of spicy heat in the food. It was ranked "mild, medium, hot, and hot hot" at the time. I made the mistake of ordering my dish "hot hot" and wound up using it as a condiment in several other dishes for the next couple of days to dilute the spiciness. And now I'm back in Omaha again after about a 10 year absence to find that the restaurant is not only still open, but they've added a second location. It sounds like success to me. The girlfriend has been biased in her Thai food experience with another longstanding restaurant, but I (and some positive Yelp reviews) helped to convince her to order takeout from here after we had both had a very long exhausting day, and neither one of us felt like cooking, or getting dressed up to sit in a restaurant. Yesterday's cold weather was the catalyst for our desire for some hot spicy "comfort" food, and after perusing the large selection of menu choices we decided on a small order of Tom Kha Gai (hot and sour soup, about a pint) and two chicken dishes, one with red curry and the other with yellow curry (each about a quart), and some coconut sweet rice for dessert. All in all, the food was quite tasty but two things kept this from being a 5 star review.. 1) The Tom Kha Gai was overly sweet and had no sour quality to it, and 2) The spice level (we ordered 8 on a scale of 1-10) was not in our opinion hot enough, but more like what would be expected for a 6 or 7. These are minor complaints, and they will not keep us from going back. Maybe we'll eat out next time.

Just discovered Thai Spice last week with a vegan friend who loves e accommodating menu. I loved my chicken curry & papaya salad. I will definitely be back!

The noodles, the curries, the soups, the thai tea... not much else to say besides that and the fact that one meal is large enough for two, so you can really get some mileage out of it. The rice is pretty plain though, which is why it's worth heaping some sauce onto it. I don't think I'd recommend for dinner, but their lunch specials are definitely worth the price.

I never expected to find great Thai when I moved to Omaha, but Thai Spiced really impressed me! They don't have my favorite dish, massaman, but their southern chicken is pretty darn close witha semi sweet yellow curry instead of that elusive sweet red curry I love so much. The food is very reasonable too at $9-$12 for most plates. There's never much of a crowd in for dinner so it's usually quiet, but there's always people picking up to go orders - which makes me feel better because I love the place! The staff is always great about keeping water filled and preemptively gives you more rice if you've finished yours before your curry. The only down side, other than no massaman :( , is they don't take amex.. visa it is!

Great take out service. Food was above average. Had the fried tofu app and by the time we got it back to the hotel it dried up. Also had the yellow curry, I would have preferred for it to be a little spicier.

We love this place! I recently Introduced my husband to aThai food, he tried the Southern Chicken which is a yellow curry, we have been eating there weekly ever since! Every meal I have tried has been delicious, my two favorites are Southern Chicken and Pineapple Fried Rice. The service is friendly, and once the staff gets to know you they are happy to make recommendations! Highly recommend.

First try at Thai food. My wife and I recently took my parents here for supper and we loved it. As previous reviewers have mentioned, the place isn't much to look at (both outside and inside) but the food is great! Inside it's a pretty small and straightforward setup. There are four or five booths of four along the north side of the restaurant and on the south side as well. In the middle there are I think five or six tables (two and four-seated). We love the dinner menu (and maybe the lunch has this too) because they did a great job of explaining what the dish was made of and they even had a picture for each dish. Ok ok...now on the food! Appetizers: - Thai Spring Rolls. These were great, especially with the sweet chili sauce. Soups: - Thai Hot and Sour soup. Very unique taste. Would not order again though. Entrees/Noodles: - Bangkok Chicken. Good. Red sauce. Ordered at a spicy level of 2 but will go up to 5 next time. - Ginger Chicken. Great. Brown sauce. Ordered at spicy level of 5 and that was hot enough! - Garlic Chicken. Great. Brown sauce. To us this tasted exactly like P.F. Chang's lettuce wraps (which is a great compliment). Spicy level of 5 and could have gone higher. - Pad Thai. Amazing. Red Sauce. Spicy level 5 which was perfect to me. This was my dish, I know it is already popular but I can't say enough good things about it. I really like the sweeter taste and texture of food. I never would have thought the ingredient would have combined so well. This was everyone's favorite dish. Pros: Food, Service, Price, Location Cons: Small, Pretty plain/dated decor. You come here to eat, not look at the walls. Which is why I give this place 5 out of 5. If you like Chinese food you can definitely take the leap into Thai. This was our first experience and we'll be back for more.

I always get the cashew chicken. Best I've ever had by far.

4 stars because of their spring rolls alone, including the sweet chili sauce. They have lots of other good things there as well. I particularly enjoy the cashew tofu and cashew chicken. Very reasonably priced and quick as well.

Hands down the best Thai food I've had. I've had the red curry, the yellow curry, and U-Don Dinner. I haven't had one thing there I didn't care for. If you go with an appetite, get the U-Don Dinner. It comes with a few of the appetizers and rice with the entree. It is seriously amazing and definitely split-able. I will be returning... frequently!

This place is a delight. The food is fresh and the staff is amazing. I am experimenting with a gluten-free diet (i know that screams "koo-koo") and I was nervous that this place couldn't accommodate me. Guess what -- they did. They can prepare most of the dishes as gluten-free and the waiter gave me several options to choose from. and the dish I got was DELISH. And my "normal" friends -- they loved their dishes too. And they are not bonkers like me -- they can eat anything. The only downside is that it is located in a strip mall -- but what isn't these days? Give it a try at once.

Best Thai in town! Love the Southern chicken. I have never eaten a dish that I didn't love from this place and it is always hot! Thai tea is delicious. Only downfalls, I wish there was more of a bar and the service is never overly friendly.

If you're a fan of Thai and around the Omaha vicinity, sorry to say, but this is probably the best you can get. On a positive note, it's a cheap lunch spot that'll keep you coming back especially if you like spicy food.

Have dined in several times but mostly get take out. Love the bangkok chicken. Food is great. You can order it 1 - 10 star degree of spicy. Large portions. I usually order an entre and some appetizers, and make two meals of it.

We dined at Thai Spice last night. Lincoln only has one good Thai restaurant, but it's usually too expensive to hit more than once every couple of months. Thai Spice prices were right on and the food looked very authentic on the menu. Food was very uneven. We started with some tofu fresh rolls and they were okay... a bit bland for Thai food. For entrees we ordered papaya salad, heat level 8; spicy beef salad, heat level 6 and cashew chicken, heat level 7. I think my sister really enjoyed her papaya salad and the cashew chicken was excellent. The beef salad, however, was weird... it tasted a bit like it was doused in hot sauce. I've made Thai beef salad once or twice and I don't remember any tomato in the sauce. My sister also ordered a bowl of Tom Ka Kai and did not like it. She said it tasted like a bowl of warmed up Campbell's soup with some lemongrass and coconut milk stirred in. I tasted it as well and thought the same thing. Service was ok and wine was cheap, so those were the high points. Since I live in Lincoln, I won't ever come back here. Just beware that the dishes here might not be that authentic. Spend your money elsewhere, or drive to Lincoln and hit up Blue Orchid.

Thai Spice is so nice. the decor left a little to be desired, but this is a food review right? the menu covers all genres, some dishes I never expected to see in a thai restaurant. (cashew chicken? sweet n sour chicken?) We tried the red curry with chicken and the pad thai vegetarian style with tofu. The red curry was deliciously complex with fresh vegetables and that sweet/spicy curry combination that warms my belly while entertaining my tongue... the thai basil smelled so fresh. The pad thai a true test of any thai place was also delicious and he was even concerned enough to ask if eggs were okay when she ordered tofu. Service was warm but not overly friendly, for a first time we're so pleased.

YUM! I crave the Southern Chicken!!!!! The rice is cooked correctly, chicken is in nice pieces, the veg is chopped well and all has great flavor. You can have a great meal for $7 (not including tip), and I always have leftovers. Friendly staff remember you, and you get what you pay for.

Ketchup. In the pad thai. Some of the most disgusting food I have ever tried to eat. Never again...

  • Jim P.

My wife & I don't like "Pad Thai" made with ketchup. This is how Thai Spice cooks it. From what I've read, there is nothing wrong with using ketchup. Some places do and some don't. So, when we got our Pad Thai; we were disappointed that it had ketchup in it. Our friend got the "southern chicken" and from the little bit that I tried, I liked it. We will be back, and we'll try some other dishes.

This is the second best Thai restaurant in Omaha (see my reviews for numero uno)! I've tried a bunch of their dishes and can't recall disliking anything. The wait staff is always nice and prompt and the restaurant is clean.

When we lived in Omaha we ate Thai Spice at least once a week. We now think/talk about Thai Spice once a week. We miss it bad! We have been away from Omaha for about a year now and need to find a Thai Spice Support Group or better yet a Thai Spice needs to open up in say Fort Collins, Colorado! The food is fabulous, the people that run the place are fabulous, the Thai Iced Tea is fabulous, no one can make a green curry with tofu like Brenda or oh, the Thai Eggplant with tofu!!! Rick is always there with a recommendation or something new for us to try - my husband is still talking about that noodle dish! The people at Thai Spice got to know us, they knew my picky order and got it right every time! I love them! It is a vegetarians dream too - almost any dish can be made with tofu! The service and the food will having you coming back again and again and again...

The food here was excellent, although not quite what my wife and i were expecting when we ordered the foods flavor was excellent. Be careful on their 1-10 heat scale of their food, for most average people, a 3 or four 4 would be plenty spicy. I like a little above the average, so a 5 is good for me, my wife likes it spicy, and she thought a 6 was perfect.

From the outside, it doesn't look like anything special, but Thai Spice features some of the best Thai food in Omaha. I especially love their shrimp rad nar and pad won sen, but the curries are also extremely popular choices. Good service, bustling but pleasant atmosphere, and moderate prices combine with the great food to make this one of my favorite haunts.
