The best Thai food in Omaha! My wife and I found this little place several years ago and we have yet to find better Thai food. The service is always great and the food is amazing. It's clean, fresh, and delicious. Start by asking for the spring rolls. They will come in a portion of 4 small crispy rolls with a citrus dipping sauce. Careful! They are hot hot hot. You'll burn your fingers if you're not patient. When you order your dish they will ask you how spicy you would like it. The range is from 0 to 5. My wife loves the Red Curry Chicken and she usually asks for a 3. She's pregnant now so she will sometimes go for a 2. My favorite dish is the Thai Pepper Chicken. I always ask for "Thai Hot" which is a 5. This dish is a stir fry with chicken, onion, and bell peppers (possibly more). As with most dishes its serves with a neatly piled portion of white rice. You'll also receive a small Thai salad on a crispy cracker like item topped with a citrus dressing. You'll often notice "The Grandmothers" as we call them sitting at a table on the back wall. They are the nice ladies who own the place. Lek (possibly Leck) is the nicest server I have ever met and will go out of his way to make sure you have exactly what you want or need. Once you've finished your meal you have to try the desserts. Our faves are the mango cake and the sweet rice, All of this and it comes at a very reasonable price too. My wife and I typically have an appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts with drinks for under $50.

So I stopped in yesterday for a pick up order. I decided to get the pan fried noodles with chicken and a order of fried egg rolls. The noodles were ok with a spice level of 4 and the egg rolls were super greasy and fell apart as soon as you picked them up. I've come to a conclusion I don't like Thai food!!

Those who actually gave this place a good review obviously have never had good, fresh, thai food. I only got the red chicken curry, but when you're a thai establishment, this is not something that you should go wrong with. The curry was grainy, as in when you don't shake up the can of coconut milk and it looks coagulated, then cook with it...I hate giving such a bad review on my first experience here but when you can't get the basic right, you shouldn't be in business. Just saying! I can go on & on about what was lacking in this dish, but I think you get the point. The server was nice.

Just had some take-out from Thai Pepper and this experience was in stark contrast to my earlier review. Without all the good feelings stemming from the restaurant's atmosphere or staff, the food doesn't really stand on it's own very well at all. This time I had the Thai pepper chicken (supposedly level ***hot), the heat was as I anticipated it would be, but there just wasn't enough (any) flavor. Heat doesn't really mean anything if there aren't some spices to back it up, and my meal of white rice, chicken, bell peppers and onions didn't really have any more flavor than that of the individual components. This was definitely an example where the sum of the parts doesn't always add up to delicious. I had to pour my salad (which came with the meal) onto the dish to enhance the flavor.

I've eaten here a few times, and have always found it consistent-both in flavor and service. I haven't had the curries, but the dishes we've had were always good. And you get this little sweet/spicy side salad that's tasty too.

Used to eat here once a week when I lived close by. Never once was I dissatisfied. My favorite dish was the Bah Mee Kung or however it's spelled. I recommend it to everyone who goes there. Their spring rolls are also very good. Service was perfect. Always polite and ready to help out.

Average is the best way to describe this restaurant. I had the pineapple fried rice and it was ok. The place itself was clean & decorated appropriately, the service was fair. But there isn't anything to set this place apart. If back in the area I don't know if I'd go back.

I started eating here back in 2000 when their primary location was at 128th & Q. They've since consolidated into this location, bumped up their décor and food presentation, and raised their prices. They've been in the Thai restaurant business for over 20 years now. I haven't been here in probably 7 years, so it was nice to rediscover the place. On my most recent visit I ordered the Summer Rolls as my appetizer and the Chicken Pad Thai as my entrée. The Summer Rolls (unfried) were very good and the dipping sauce they came with was very tasty and had a bit of heat to it as well. They're a great alternative to the typical deep fried egg roll and Spring roll. The Pad Thai was very good as well. I could tell my food was cooked for me. Everything had a great texture and the rice noodles weren't overcooked or mushy. Ingredients weren't homogenized like they tend to get when they've been mixed together and holding for hours. You can choose a heat level of 1 to 5 stars. I chose 3 stars and it was a nice medium heat level as it should be at that level. Portions were fair - neither skimpy nor over-the-top gluttonous either. Service was very friendly. I was promptly greeted when I walked in the door and seated. They were attentive throughout my visit and kept my iced tea glass full (by the way, they have great iced tea). I never had to wait for food, wait for a refill, or wait to pay. Restaurant is very nice inside. Definitely a few notches above your typical strip mall Asian restaurant. Many of the negative reviews I see around the web about this place are in regards to the prices. First, let me say that with the number of online review services as well as the restaurant's official website no one should ever walk into a restaurant not knowing the price point. Second, I think there is is unfair double-standard with ethnic cuisine. It is okay if French, Italian, and Japanese cuisine are priced through the roof, but the moment Mexican, Chinese, or Thai cuisine cost more than $7/entrée people start screaming. What gives? This is very good food, made with quality ingredients, in a nice facility, presented well, and with superior customer service. You are getting what you pay for here. If you want a dump truck full of food for $5 then seek it elsewhere. They do have cheaper pricing for weekday lunches. For example, Chicken Pad Thai is $11 for dinner and on weekends, but only $9.50 for weekday lunch.

The first thing I notice as I'm looking at the menu is how overly pricy everything is. They charge you for every little thing! Switching out regular chicken or tofu for shrimp is like, beyond expensive! So, I'll assume that the food must be pretty good then. Appetizer: Fried tofu. Tasty. Good dipping sauce. (Read more on the tofu via entree section) Entree: I ordered the Pad Thai with a chicken and tofu combo and "hot" for my heat setting. Though it wasn't spicy or "hot" at all, the food was good when it came out. In fact, I really like how they fried the tofu. It's airy, has a good crisp outer layer and a more delicate center. Texture-wise, it reminds me much of the French macaron for some odd reason. All in all, it was a decent dish. I finished it and enjoyed it. Drink : Thai iced coffee. Tastes like a regular Thai iced coffee. Service was fine. They let us sit wherever we wanted. Filled out water in a very timely manner. I'm not feeling the umbrella on the wall thing but that's just me. Here is my problem: my problem is that the food tastes a little better than normal (authentic) but it's so overpriced for something that I can get anywhere else, like Salween Thai. If you can go to Salween Thai, go there instead. The food is great there and you feel good after leaving the restaurant rather than here, where I'm feeling ripped off as I'm paying for my bill.

Amazing. Delicious. Dreamy. Wonderful. Almost like a vacation for your mouth. I highly recommend trying everything...seriously. It's all good. I loved the Pad Thai, my boyfriend got Pepper Steak, and my mom got this chicken combo that was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I wanted to trade but didn't want to give up my food lol. If you didn't like it the first time, go back and try it again. Ask for recommendations from the staff, other people at tables, or check other people's glowing reviews on here...if you still don't like it, check your pulse. Happy eating to you!
(5)Paige Y.
The pad Thai I had here wasoverly spicy and the noodles were so weird, almost like egg noodles. My boyfriend had the pineapple fried rice and it was better, but still just OK. Save yourself the money and go to Salween Thai instead.

My favorite dish here is the chiangmai dinner (grilled chicken dipped in sweet / sour / spicy sauce + rice + papaya salad ). Price is a bit high ($15 for this dish) but definitely worth it. The beef salad is also very good. The sticky rice with mango is a must try ! The food is consistently good and I keep coming back :).
(5)Paula Z.
Amazing food ! Every Time I go I have no disappointments !!!! Pad Thai is one of my favorites ! Spring rolls are delicious you must try them !!!!
(5)Joe O.
Heed my warning, Don't go here unless you want to be ripped off and disappointed!!!!! Expensive!!! Quality is poor! Quantity was jaw dropping small. Talk about disappointment! Took them 40 minutes as i waited and waited!!!!!!! I paid $33.45 for a green curry, summer rolls (tasted like they rubbed there penis all over these rolls and costed $7 dollars!! ), coconut shrimp (only 5 shrimps for $9 dollars what the f***!!!) Curry was $12 dollars and portion was small. Oooo boy, there curry isn't even got Thai spices in it and it really really suckss big time!! I tossed all of it out and went to a really good Thai Restaurant that isn't open till 5pm and paid only 8 dollars amazing curry with real Thai spices.

I stopped in for lunch, what an lovely place, the staff was so friendly and the food delicious. i mean like.. WOW. i am in search of my favorite of all time thai dish for the last 22 years Garlic Pepper Pork ( stir fried pork in garlic and white pepper sauce with jasmine rice and chopped cabbage topped with scallions and cilantro) i did not see it on the menu at Thai Pepper so i ordered my backup dish basil beef which did not disappoint and crispy egg rolls and the Thai iced tea which was delicious. i have a feeling i shall be back.. often.. YUM!
(4)Lynnsey B.
I agree with everyone else on here. Good food, but way overpriced. I had the Thai beef salad, fried tofu and water. My bill was $25.... For lunch.... The food was good though, The salad had a good balance of sweet, sour and savory flavors but the beef was overcooked and dry. The tofu was delightfully crunchy yet creamy and smooth inside with sweet and sour peanut sauce. Overall, I might eat here again but they should add a reduced price lunch menu as I would not eat here for lunch again.

Awesome Thai food in Omaha. Been looking for a good place and this is it. Highly recommend it!

Best Thai in Omaha !! Anyone in Omaha looking for a great place to eat needs to come here. Great service, very clean, fast and amazing food. Try to come once a week.

I really enjoy Thai Pepper with my family. The menu is easy to navigate for anyone unfamiliar with Thai food. They can make each dish with a range of spiciness and selection of meat or vegetarian to appeal to each family member. The wait staff is very polite and you get the sense that you are welcomed there. Some reviewer's had remarks about the food, but I have spent time in many regions of Thailand and personally find no issue with it here. It's just how I want it. The right proportions of vegetables, rice, and noodles with sauce... the flaky spring rolls...mmmm

We have eaten here twice and had a great experience. The service is friendly and quick. The restaurant is clean and I like the atmosphere. It's a smaller establishment but we've never had to wait for a table. Most importantly, everything we've ordered has been really fresh. We've ordered the green curry, pineapple curry, eggplant basil stir fry, and silver noodles. We have also tried the golden nest appetizer (shredded sweet potato that is lightly battered and fried). It was delicious! The portion sizes are great - just the right amount of food. I've even brought home leftovers before. I like that you can order any dish as spicy or mild as you like. This place is authentic, affordable and fresh. I highly recommend it!

Best Pad Thai in Omaha!! It is fresh, not greasy, and always consistent. The Pad Thai also comes with all the proper accoutrements -- a tiny cup of chopped peanuts, fresh sliced lime, and side of thai coleslaw. I've tried Pad Thai elsewhere in Omaha, but none of them can touch Thai Pepper.
(5)Charles K.
This place rocks! The decor is great with umbrellas in the ceiling and large photographs from Thailand on the walls. The food is amazing! Very fresh and made to order. Favorites for me are beef basil, cashew chicken, silver noodles w/ tofu, and spicy curry fish. Don't forget to try the desserts-mango and sweet rice is my favorite.
(5)Francisco F.
Ordered the lemon grass chicken. It was about as bland as is humanly possible. The service was very slow and there weren't that many people there.
(2)Shannon D.
I love this place!!!! I've been eating here pretty regularly for about 6 years, and I have never had a mediocre experience. Everything is fresh and delicious every time, and it's so clean you could eat off of the floor! Service is great - prompt, attentive, and always very friendly. The prices are what I would expect to pay, and the portions are generous for me to eat another full meal. I also never leave feeling stuffed because it's so light and fresh tasting, not greasy or heavy. I have also come for lunch shortly before close, and never received rude or poor service, only the same great service I always get!

The 'Thai Pepper Steak' tasted like something my mom could make, and that is not a good thing. I can't remember which noodle dish my sister ordered, but the noodles looked like they came out of a ramen packet. It was just...not very Thai. Won't be going back.

Great Thai Food In Omaha At Thai Pepper Coming from California and being used to really good Thai food, we did not have high expectations of good Thai food at a strip mall in Omaha. We couldn't have been more wrong. The food at Thai Pepper was delicious. I first ordered a Thai iced tea and didn't want too much milk in it. The super friendly waiter, wanting to please us, brought us out a sample to try, and it was just right - the typical Thai iced tea - sweet, smoky, and very cold. I then had the Pad Thai with tofu, no fish sauce, and medium spicy. It was very good, with nice noodles that were properly cooked, in a medium spicy sauce. It had some egg, bean sprouts, and scallions in it. Chopped peanuts were in a separate container that came with it, probably figuring that not everyone enjoyed peanuts. The dish also came with a deep fried wonton with a cabbage, carrot, and dried cranberry slaw on it, which was a nice touch, and that was quite good and refreshing. My husband ordered the same thing, only with chicken, and hot. Yes, it was quite hot, not inedible, but definitely hot. Order carefully! The wait staff was friendly and very helpful, in answering questions and getting us what we wanted. The décor at Thai Pepper was really cute. The walls were painted a dark red, with beautiful posters of Thailand. It was the ceiling that was especially cute. The ceiling had upside down paper umbrellas hanging from it, in pink, purple, and blue, with the pink ones being illuminated. It was very neat and festive. Overall, I would definitely go to Thai Pepper again, because it was a delicious, friendly, and nice place to eat.

Good Thai tea . Enjoyed the green curry chicken. All the food was really good. Seem to pay attention to detail. A little pricey for lunch I thought. It was a Saturday so maybe they have weekday specials to make it more reasonable

New to Omaha and needed to get my Thai fix - this place is excellent! I've been here 4 times and am a big curry fan - I have not been disappointed yet. The service is excellent and the restaurant is warm and inviting. I love the salad they serve with the entrees - I'm hoping to deconstruct it so I can make it at home!! This is my Thai restaurant!!
(5)Ann K.
This is the best local Thai place in Omaha. Decor is warm and fun. The red curry is wonderful. I highly recommend this place for Asian food. On our list now as a favorite.
(5)Ali L.
While the owners were very kind and it's a nice place, thai food needs to have flavor! Like S.A. and Sarah G. have both written, it just wasn't there. They customized my meal to have veggies added to the pad thai, but it was just too bland to kick my thai cravings. Looks like I'll be sticking to driving to South Omaha for my fix at Laos Thai Market.

This is the first Thai place I ever went to and it's great. Food is spicy so if you don't like that be sure to order on mild side. I love it. Great ginger chicken and thai coffee. The atmosphere is very nice and thai!
(4)Vinnie O.
This was the first time me and my girl ever had Thia food. The atmosphere was relaxed and the waiter was okay with us asking any and all questions. The food was amazing as I had the red beef curry and Jaime had the ginger chicken. We were able to make the meals as hot or as mild as we wanted. We both did hot and talked about moving up a level the next time we go back. Thiapepper is a great place for a relaxed date night spot to eat and I look forward to eating there again.

Wow - when has Thai food been so bland? And when has curry been so watery - despite paying $11 a dish. The inside was nicely decorated, the service was fine, but when food is this disappointing, there isn't anything that will bring me back. I wouldn't pay $5 for that curry, much less $11.

I made an order for yellow curry with beef, spring rolls, and sticky rice w/mango. They told me 15 minutes. As I was on my way to the restaurant to pick it up, I get a phone saying that they can't make me yellow curry with beef. I asked why and the lady on the other line says that it doesn't taste good together. I mentioned other Thai restaurants accommodated my request, she said that I should go to those places then. Well, lady ....I will and take my business to someone who appreciates it and who delivers great customer service to their customers. Sorry that I even considered trying your restaurant.:(

The Ginger Chicken was great.

Thai Pepper is a cute little Thai joint in a strip mall at 114th and Dodge, in Miracle Hills Square. I gather there may be other Thai Pepper restaurants in Omaha, but I'm visiting so I'm not sure. The dcor is quite nice, with orangish-red hued walls and opened blue/purple/reddish umbrellas suspended from the ceiling. It may not sound attractive, but it makes for a very subtle and warm atmosphere that is still casual. I have only gotten lunch takout from Thai Pepper, and in both cases I ordered noodle dishes - spicy noodle with tofu, and pad thai with tofu. The spicy noodle was the better of the two, but both dishes were carefully prepared and fresh, with plenty of fresh bean sprouts to add some texture to the soft noodles. The noodles were properly done, not overcooked and gummy, but still the texture was welcome. The pad thai had peanuts on the side of the dish, not dumped on top, so they didn't get soggy while I transported the dish. There was a good amount of egg and fried tofu mixed in, too. What I thought the dish lacked a little of was tangy tamarind; I prefer a little more zing in my pad thai. But it was still quite good. The spicy noodles were a little more flavorful, but then the noodles themselves were wheat not rice, which may have helped. Also, I had fewer expectations of the dish than I do of pad thai. What I remember was a sauce that amounted to a gentle reddish-brown glaze on the noodles, plenty of bean sprouts and fried tofu, and maybe some cilantro? Very very tasty. I wanted more immediately. Accompanying both dishes was a small side salad of shredded cabbage (slightly parboiled maybe?) on a lettuce leaf, with some flecks of carrot (I think), and a subtle dressing that had some tang to it without drowning the cabbage. I think this is what really put Thai Pepper over the top. Add to that the very friendly service that I received, and it has made me a fan (though I may never go there again after this week since I'm in Omaha on business).
(5)Angela W.
My dinner here was great for small, Mom&Pop Thai food. I heard a rumor that the owners/cooks may or may not be Thai; I really don't care. The decor is home-y and simple. Service is good. The avocado basket (?) appetizer was fantastic! That alone assures I will be back! My date had a hard time finding anything Super-spicy, but still enjoyed all the dishes we tried. I am marking moderate price simply due to ordering multiple dishes; I am sure a person could eat quite cheaply there, due to the adequate portioning.

I'm new to Omaha and this place got great reviews! I tried it tonight and asked for medium hot on my dish and it had no taste at all! I'm not impressed at all! YUK!

I had previously visited Thai Pepper on February 4th, and the service was phenomenal. This time, the experience was without question, the worst I have ever received in any restaurant. I have never before been made to feel so unwelcome in any place of business. We got to the restaurant at 1:35. The posted hours state the restaurant closes at 2:00. Upon being seated, even before being greeted, the very first words spoken to us were, "Hurry up and order. We close at 2:00" Two ladies arrived shortly after us, and after we saw the host roll his eyes, he seated them with the admonition we had received to be quick about ordering. It was somewhat funny to view their trepidation every time a car pulled up in front of the business. I can only imagine they were muttering a silent prayer for the potential customer to please go away! We placed our order, and our appetizers arrived. As with my previous visit, the lettuce wraps were out of this world good! I will have to find a good recipe for them on the Internet. The spring rolls were also delicious. The sad part was, our entrees followed a mere 40 seconds later! That presented us with the choice of not eating the appetizers we had paid for, or letting our entrée get cold. We continued to eat the appetizers, and were glad we did. As far as the entrees went, my mussel and shrimp curry was OK. I would rate it 4 out of 10. Sadly...that is a HUGE improvement over my last visit. My wife's green chicken curry was garbage. There was absolutely no flavor other than an overpowering taste of jalapeno peppers. That is definitely consistent for this restaurant as on my previous visit, I had the pineapple curry, and had the same complaint...tasteless, inedible and dominated by the taste of jalapenos. We took her lunch with us in a box, and threw it in the garbage at Trader Joe's. I would have loved to tried the fried bananas, but we were never offered a dessert option, and it was apparent, they wanted us to leave. The employees were all sitting there eating their lunches by this time, ignoring us, and it was pretty darn clear, we were done! I could understand this to some degree if we sat there for 2 hours past closing time. I worked in restaurants when I was younger, and there was the occasional customer who would sit there and sip a water for an hour after closing. This does not apply here, as we walked out the door at 2:06. I definitely will never return to this restaurant. Tried twice, and was disappointed both times. I would love to swing by and get appetizers to go, but I cannot find it within me to ever support such a poorly run business again. They do not deserve my money, nor my support.
(2)Pukar R.
Nothing really sticks out about this place. The food as well as the service is good, and the place is clean. Located in a strip mall, it's a good place for a quick lunch or dinner. I go here from time to time if I'm in the area but since I live near Bellevue I really don't make it a destination in itself. Their yellow curry is good and you can't go wrong with any of their appetizers.
(3)Morgan H.
Went here today for the first time. The restaurant wasn't busy and our service was fantastic! We ordered the Golden Nests for an app and loved them!! Our entree took a bit longer than we expected but the ingredients were fresh!!! We enjoyed every bite!! Everything was made from scratch and had great flavor. We were very happy with our meal and will definitely return!!!
