Move over PlaToo, I found my Thai hook up. Get the Groupon, it's worth it. Small, dim building with some adult contemporary instrumental music. Nothing fancy, but nicely decorated. Thai food....I can't even get over how good it was. The portions are double the size of PlaToo, and anywhere from $4 to $10 cheaper. Only drawback: perhaps short staffed, hence the 4 stars.

Outstanding food and service!! Highly recommend!!

My only regret about my visit to Taste of Thailand is that I waited this long to try it. The food is amazing! I am pretty dedicated to a Thai restaurant in South O, but this place would give it a run for its money (and it is much closer to my house). I placed an order for take-out on a Friday night. I ordered the Thai Spring Rolls and the Orange Curry with Chicken (served with jasmine rice). I was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes and it was waiting for me (and still hot) when I arrived 20 minutes later. Paying took a few minutes, most likely due to the fact they use one of those informal credit card processing systems used by many small businesses. I was still in and out within 7 minutes, though. I tried the spring rolls when I got to my car and had killed 3 of the 4 rolls by the time I got back to my house 10 minutes later. They were awesome! The flavor of the Orange Curry Chicken was also amazing and the portion was enough for two meals (and a late-night snack)! I will be making many visits to this restaurant in the future!

Well, the evening started with disappointment when my cup of tom yum soup came half full but looked up when I tasted my food. The amount of spice was perfect at an 8 out of 10 for me. The odd thing was that both of our dishes looked the same. I didn't see any of the presentation I've seen in the pictures online. The Singha beer was ice cold and refreshing at least, I had to ask for another :) . I would say it was good enough if you were looking for a quick Thai fix but I've had better. It could have been that they were just closing up and we got the left over plates but in my mind it shouldn't be an excuse if you are consistently good.

I've tried pad thai, pad see ew, and the taste of thailand noodles. The pad thai was ketchup based which I love. It isn't overly sweet or tangy. I think it brought some thing extra to it. The pad see ew was average. It isn't anything special. Now the taste of thailand was really good. If you like your noodles with extra sauce and veggies, you should try this. I had it spicy and it was amazing! It was even better on the second day. I like the size of the portion. There was enough for lunch the next day. The service was average. One guy was running the front of the restaurant. Felt kinda bad for him. My only complaint was there wasn't enough meat with the noodles.

I was surprised what a nice dining area this place has. You're sort of expecting some typical strip mall kind of place and it's actually a nice sit down restaurant. Dining room is pretty small and that can create an awkward situation on busy nights when you walk in expecting to grab a table and find they're all full and you're standing in the middle of the dining room being stared at by customers. They don't really have much of a waiting area. Food is very good. I was lame and just ordered the Pad Thai, but it was very good and decently portioned. Service is friendly and mostly attentive, but it's a small family run restaurant, so there tends to be just a few employees floating between every position in the restaurant. Restaurant is clean and well-maintained.

This was only ok. I went with the intention of getting one of the catfish dishes on their menu but they've swapped the catfish out with cod which it don't care for. Definitely bummed out because that was the only reason I bought the LS deal. The spring rolls were great- those were four star. But the drunken noodles were not great at all. By the time I got the food home it was super dry. It also didn't taste... or look... like the drunken noodles I'm used to. The service was fantastic, and that's why I gave it an extra star. And it's probably the only reason I'd give it another chance.

Taste of Thailand is a small family restaurant nicely decorated and have a very friendly staff concerned with the customers overall experienced. We started our meal with the Thai Lettuce Wraps appetizer and loved them! Unlike other restaurants with lettuce wraps these are served cold, crisp, and plentiful. The honey and chili infused sauce is so good they could bottle and sell that product. My wife ordered the Cashew Chicken level 3 and I tried the Bankok Beef level 1 since this dish already has red curry paste as an ingredient. The Bankok Beef has a strong ginger profile but is quite tasty. We both thoroughly enjoyed our dishes and will definitely return. Having read other reviews from fellow yelper's, I decided to revisit the Taste of Thailand to try the popular Popeye Chicken at level 2 on the Thai Richter scale. This dish included Chicken, steamed vegetables and a very tasty peanut sauce with just a touch of heat. Would definitely reorder this dish again (level 3, here I come).
(5)Dominic B.
The service was excellent, our host even teaching me and my date how to say the names of the dishes in Thai! I got the Drunken Noodles with chicken at a level seven and it was spot on. Only my second time ordering this dish but Taste of Thailand's was much better than the last restaurant I tried. My date got the yellow shrimp curry at a one and she really enjoyed it. Prices were reasonable about $10-15 a plate. Only downside to this place is that the decor is somewhat lacking and it's in a very hard to see/get to location! But it was top notch Thai and superb service.
(4)TRC G.
I had the Pad Thai, the sauce had a very strong tomato paste taste, and although I asked for a spice level of 4, there was no spice at all, definitely a zero. My husband had Orange Curry, it was ok but very sweet. The place was very clean, but the food wasn't good enough to bring me back.
(2)Rachel S.
My noodles were super delicious! The restaurant had a steady stream of lunch time business which is great but I feel like another waiter perhaps might have been a good idea. It seemed that the man working was rushing around and trying to put out fires rather than provide a casual and relaxing lunch vibe. My interaction was very friendly and no complaints there I just felt bad for him.
(3)Rich S.
Great food, nice relaxed atmosphere. He only complaint is their lack of staff. There seems to only be one waitress and one cook on a Saturday night. Could have used one more server and one more in the kitchen.
(4)Lia S.
First time here and we'll be going again. I had the Taste of Thailand Noodles and ordered a 1 for heat. I'm a huge pansy and will try a stronger level next time. It was wonderful. The guy ordered Ginger Shrimp at about a 5 and was very happy with it. The host was super friendly and our food arrived very fast. We're looking forward to going again.

I was in the mood for thai food, however I work out west otherwise I would have gone to the amazing salween thai. So despite some bad reviews for this place I figured I would give it a shot. Unfortunately I have to say I'm disappointed and wish I had passed this place. I ordered the chicken pad thai, and it simply lacked flavor. It was also a weird consistency of wide noodles in some strange sauce that almost reminded me of spaghetti sauce. Needless to say I barely ate half of it, and threw out the rest. Take my advice and go elsewhere for thai food.
(2)Mandi F.
I have never had Thai food. WOW is this place awesome!! It is small and quaint. I had a noodles with brown sauce that was Superb. The Ginger chicken was VERY "gingery" and not as tasty to us. But the cheese biscuit and veggie roll were also very yummy!!! There was only one sever and they were quite busy but we didn't wait. Service was excellent!! Can not wait to go back!!

By far one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha. My wife and I go there enough that the owner knows our regular orders. Must get the vegetable balls, thai iced tea, and mango and sweet rice. Be careful when ordering anything hotter than a 7, especially if its a curry, it can get very spicy.
(5)Sheng S.
My favorite Thai restaurant in Omaha, better than Thai Pepper. Their curry is very good. Their noodle dishes are delicious. Their tom yum soup is great. Can't forget the Thai Iced Tea.
(5)Josh A.
Oh man, I ate here once again the other night, my first time being there for dinner rather than lunch, and they completely blew my mind. The hot and sour soup in the volcano bowl was absolutely incredible, and the Red Curry with Beef, ordered "As hot as you can make it, just go crazy and do whatever you want" kicked me in the face in the best way. So very worth the trip from Midtown.
(5)Gus K.
Among my favorite restaurants in Omaha. I frequent the place during lunch with co-workers. As for spiciness, they use a scale of 1-10. Be assured, when you order a 10, its going to be FREAKING HOT. True heat here. Relaxed and casual atmosphere. Favorites: Orange and Red Curry, Thai Fried Rice, Bangkok Beef

3 stars feels a little harsh, but 4 feels too generous. I wish I could give it 3.5. Anyway, here are the details: Awesome service. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and funny. We ordered thai iced tea, which was the first time I'd had it, but I was very impressed with it. I'd come back here even just for that. We also got the sweet rice with mango ice cream, which was really really good as well. For my entree, I got pad thai, and unfortunately I'm with some of the other reviewers here... It was way overdressed, kind of sticky, and weirdly ketchup-y. I have definitely had better, even in Omaha. However, I have to give them major props for being so accommodating. I'm a vegetarian and I'll tell you, living in the home of grade A beef does not make that a cakewalk... I asked for "vegetables instead of chicken," expecting them to throw on some carrots and a couple pieces of broccoli. I was pleasantly surprised by a generous serving of corn, mushrooms, bean sprouts, broccoli, carrots, and green onions. My plate was super colorful. I would come back again because their menu is huge and other items seem to have good reviews, but I just wish I would've read the reviews on the pad thai before ordering.

This is my fav. thai joint. Very authentic and traditional thai food. This place is run by family and very good service. I visit this place once a month....
(5)Lily G.
Literally this was the most disgusting meal I have ever eaten. My family is crazy about Thai food, and we are all very familiar with authentic Thai dishes. But you know something is wrong when the restaurant can't even make pad thai. We ordered pad thai, hot & sour soup, and ginger fish. I could already tell there was something strange about the pad thai when the waiter sat it down in front of me. It was red-- and smelled strange. Maybe it was from a different part of Thailand? I don't know. All I know is that it tasted and smelled like old socks. And my dad took about two bites and pushed the plate away (and he LOVES food-- I've never seen him push a dish away before!) The hot & sour soup tasted like garbage. Literal garbage. And it was not cheap. My elderly grandfather paid for it, and I feel guilty about him paying for such a terrible meal. DO NOT EAT HERE. YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY IF YOU EAT HERE. THE FOOD IS DISGUSTING. YOU WILL GAG. GROSS GROSS GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(1)Ray A.
We love this establishment. The food has always been terrific. We have now tried 4 different offerings and have been extremely pleased with the quality of all 4. The product is fresh, tastes great and is always to proper temperature. Taste Of Thailand recently completed a complete interior re-model. You will appreciate the extremely clean and modern environment. Great for take-out also! We highly recommend this restaurant. Great service, too!

4.5 stars. We've been coming to Taste of Thailand for close to 10 years. We visited Thailand shortly before coming to Omaha, NE about 12 years ago, and no one in this area can make Thai food like that prepared in Thailand because procuring all the ingredients is either cost prohibitive or simply not possible. That said Taste of Thailand has been the best approximation in the Omaha area to the wonderful food of Thailand. The ingredients are always fresh and good quality, they're prompt, their portions are large (I always have enough for a second meal; YMMV), and it's simply the most delicious Thai food I've had in Omaha... for 10 years running. If I had to fault them on anything I guess their decor could use a little bit of a refresh, but we usually do take-out so that's not a big deal to me. They also had a period where they had purses for sale hanging down all over the walls, so that was a tad tacky. But they weren't there on our most recent visit. Recommended dishes: Bangkok Chicken; Siam Curry w/tofu.
(5)Katharine B.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the entire world. Some reviewers on here say it's not authentic and I can't help but think maybe they're only used to one restaurant's variation or they work for one of the competing Thai restaurants around here... I order yellow curry chicken very time- it's awesome! My friend always orders the pad Thai and loves it. Call ahead if you plan on eating here during the summer as I know the owner closes up shop when they go to Thailand for a few weeks.

I heard that the people running this now are new owners, but I didn't ask. I could tell however that there seem to be a number of people who are regulars here. The service has always been great the few times we have been here and a young man who seems to bean owner always checks on us to make sure we are happy. Because curry dishes still kind of freak me out, on our last visit I had the garlic Chicken and it was fantastic and there was plenty of it. My boyfriend loves all types of curries, and this last time he had the Orange curry chicken. He also ordered asked to have shrimp added and he had at least 6-8 fairly large tiger prawns added to the dish. He said it was great, and he couldn't have eaten much more than just that dish. We didn't order any appetizers this time, but we have had a few different ones. My boyfriend loves Thai peanut sauces, so we have ordered the Chicken Satay with the peanut sauce. I liked it,but he loved it. And he is very particular about peanut sauces!! I understand that the Taste has been around a while and had become lackluster. Not sure about that as we have only recently started eating here, but I must say, I really like it as it is now. Nothing to complain about at all. And we always feel satisfied when we leave!
(5)Allison B.
Absolutely amazing. We have been here a few times before and the food is consistently stellar. We had the Thai Vegetarian Curry rolls which were crunchy pockets full of flavor. We then had Southern Beef and Bangkok beef. The service was impeccable- friendly, expedient. They are currently redecorating and I'm sure it'll look great.

I was really impressed. While visiting Omaha for work, a colleague insisted that we stop here for dinner. Although she repeated how good the food was, I had my doubts having tasted lots of good Thai food where I live...Plus when I think of Omaha, I think of steaks, not Thai food, but hey I'm a team player so I agreed to go. We pulled into the parking lot and when I saw the look of happiness over my colleague's face after realizing this restaurant was open, I knew that her recommendation was serious. She didn't guide us wrong. This is a quaint, casual, eclectic restaurant that seems to sell Thai scarves in the back (random, but perhaps after having a good meal from a region, people are immediately enticed to buy garments from that same country- doubting it, but crazier things are possible). The table service was great and friendly. The waiter (who I believe was the owner) was able to help me navigate the extensive menu and pick the right choice for my taste buds. Everything was delicious. I started with lettuce wraps and as an entree had the Bangkok chicken, recommended after I mentioned loving spicy food (and it was). To finish up we ordered mango and sticky rice for the table - Impressive! The only drawback is that this place doesn't accept American Express and they try to encourage you (with signs on the wall) to use cash rather than credit card.

Their food is always amazing and is my favorite Thai restaurant I've been to! The Panang chicken is amazing and the pad Thai is always a great option!
(5)Nikki W.
Awesome Restaurant off West Center by Bob Boozer Dr. Love that we can here in 25 min from Ashland. Love that they serve all my favorite Thai dishes. I had the Pad Thai Noodles! Delish! My teenage daughters loved their basil chicken and taste of Thai noodles as well! Plentiful servings too and a decent wine and beer list. The spice was just right! 7 out of 10 for me! They are offering a Groupon right now for newcomers! I would stop by! The place was packed on the weekends which is also a great sign :) We will be back!!!
(4)Lyn S.
Excellent! The coconut chicken & shrimp (Tom-Ka-Kai) Soup is unbelievable! And the variety of additional spice options suited everyone at our table.

***NEW OWNERSHIP! Family owned along with their mother's and grandmothers's recipes*** I didn't like previous owner at all bit recently heard that another family had purchased and remodeled. Give this sppt another chance, folks. Say "hi" to Rick, who runs "the front of the house." He graciously explained how his family bought it and their dream is this restaurant. His brother is chef and they lovingly replicate family recipes with fresh ingredients. I am so happy! Just had the most DEEELISH Chicken Popeye. O. M. G. I love the restaurant now that there are new owners: clean, remodeled and classic. Understated. Waitstaff knew their menu and had great suggestions; the Banglok Dumpling should be something that I will order soon, and in quantities. :-)
(5)Katie M.
We've been coming here for a while. The food has always been excellent, but in the past service was sloooow. Tonight was totally different. We had apps in 3 minutes and entrees in 10. The dumplings were fantastic, and so was the pad thai. Very impressed. We will be coming here more often!
(5)Suzy W.
I ate here last night after a long absence and I don't think it is good as I remembered. The highlight is the Tom Yum soup-best in Omaha. I ordered the basil shrimp, which was lacking in flavor. I think there are better Thai restaurants at better prices in Omaha, and I will go back to those restaurants. I did appreciate the coupon on yelp.
(3)Judy R.
Made a return visit here on Saturday, and had another exceptional dining experience. This time I had the Drunk-Noodles with Shrimp. The shrimp were large, perfectly cooked and plentiful. The sauce was rich and at a perfect heat level. My friend had the Red Curry with Shrimp. I had a taste of that, and it was equally delicious. Service was attentive and prompt. I can't wait to go back!
(5)Scott L.
Good food! Good service! Good atmosphere! We really enjoyed our meal. Really appreciated that they asked what level of spice we wanted!
(5)Darin B.
Really loved their food. Spicy Chicken Noodles, lettuce wraps, spring rolls, and dumplings were all excellent. Very small place but did not feel cramped. Elegant colors. Will come back!
(5)Meghan B.
I have been a customer of Taste of Thailand for nearly ten years, and even though I haven't lived in the Omaha area for quite some time, Chalie (the owner) always recognizes me and remembers that I typically order the Broccoli Noodle with tofu whenever I'm back in town. Aww. Here are some other favorites on the menu: -Thai Spring Rolls & Vegetable Balls (both come with your meal at lunch for free!) -Skinny Noodle with Gravy (love the gravy) -Bangkok Shrimp
(4)Stephanie K.
We ate here recently. We ordered three different dishes. I don't know if it was because it was the end of the night, or we just ordered the wrong thing, but the food was not good. The smell of the food was not appetizing & the taste was poor. I ordered 3 classic Thai dishes& none of them were even worth eating. I went home hungry and disappointed. Is this place worth Trying again?
(1)Brittany S.
My husband and I ate here after a friend suggested it, and we were extremely happy with our meal! The pad thai I ordered was fresh, flavorful and delicious! I loved that I could have my food very mild while my husband had his very spicy. I have eaten a lot of Thai food, and I'm honestly confused as to why some of the other reviews question this place's authenticity. It is definitely authentic, and it is definitely delicious! My only complaint here is that they have weird hours. I tried to bring my mother here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, and they were closed. They were also closed several other times I tried to come here... If you can hit them up when they are actually open though, everything is fresh and delicious!
(4)Stefanie N.
Was extremely excited to try this place after a casual friend mentioned that she's a huge huge Thai foodie and have tried places in other cities and none can hold a candle to this place. I love Thai food and was tired of having to wait till I travel to big cities to get my fix. Boy, was I hit with a huge slap-in-the-face disappointment. Maybe it's because I had such high hopes that finally, I would find a worthy Thai place in Omaha. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing?? I am very familiar with Thai food and a Thai place isn't any good if they can't make their one national dish right...Pad Thai. The Pad Thai here was...interesting to say the least. The noodles were extremely overdressed and semi overcooked. I would agree with one of the reviewers here in regards to the red color of the sauce. AND I really really hate ketchup and couldn't eat more than a few strands of noodles until I almost gagged. The whole dish tasted nothing but of ketchup. If you're a ketchup lover, get this dish! Maybe it's Pad Thai style from a different region of Thailand?? We ordered a few other things but I couldnt wash the ketchup taste out of my mouth and really forgot the rest of my meal. The staff is friendly. Try it and be your own judge.

I was excited to try a new Thai place for lunch, but unfortunately for Taste of Thailand, when I already have a 'place I go for (insert food here)' it takes me being 'wowed' instead of just marginally impressed... which is all I was with this restaurant. The food was fine, nothing exceptional and kind of on par with any other Thai restaurant I've been to in Omaha so far. Certainly not anything I'll ever drive out of my way for. Portions were also slightly smaller than the competition. I wasn't personally negatively affected by the service, but can't say I was thrilled with the overall speed. No real sense of urgency, as only one person was taking care of the entire restaurant's ordering, paying, food delivering, etc. We had to ask for our check twice and never did get a couple of items we asked for...
(2)Lars W.
One of the really good Thai places in Omaha. You can even shop there for scarves and hand bags. Now, if you like to go there for a business lunch, plan for an extra 30 minutes due to the wait time for the food once you place the order. The food is good and that means, the chef doesn't rush things.
(4)Rick M.
The best! I love Thai and Taste of Thailand RARELY disappoints. Try bean noodles with shrimp (tiger prawns!), spicy noodles with chicken, and ask about the mango and sticky rice--owner Chollie will tell you if mango not up to par.
(5)Sarah C.
This is one of the restaurants I had hit up on a search for a good pad Thai. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. I ordered a Pad Thai with a 5-6 spice, take out, brought it home because I was so excited about the smell, open it up, and my pad thai was bright red! Maybe I'm looking for a certain pad thai, but they definitely put way too much of the sauce that it tasted almost like ketchup. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I wouldn't recommend the pad thai to others, but I have heard it's good, so maybe I'll go back and try something else next time.
