We visited the place for the first time. We didn't really know what to expect. We found a large menu with many good looking dishes. I tried the shrimp a la diablo. It was very good, but packs some heat. The spice level was about right for me. My wife had a shrimp quesIlla. She said hers was good. The guacamole was made to order and mixed with pick. Very good and fresh tasting. We will be back. Our server was great and very helpful.

Pretty small place so don't plan on bringing every co-worker here over lunch. Delicious homemade tortilla chips (they didn't get an order of corn tortillas the day we visited but the flour replacements were delicious as well) and chunky fresh guacamole. The carne asada fries are a good value for the price ($7.50) and big enough to save some for a later snack if you aren't starving. They don't have very many people working there at any given time so be prepared for a bit of a wait but the food is worth a repeat visit.

Extremely welcoming and courteous staff and waitress' made for a very nice visit right from the moment we walked into the door of this small and unassuming "Taqueria". This place definitely has some delicious items - my Husband's chimichanga was stuffed and fried to perfection and my chicken nachos were piled high with toppings. The complimentary chips and salsa were great, however their hot sauce (in the squeeze bottle) is absolutely spicy and divine! A real treat for delicious about-as-close-as-you'll-find-authentic, Mexican food that reminded me of back home in San Diego.

Oh my goodness, I have just found my new favorite place to eat. I have been on the hunt for some delicious and authentic Mexican food in West Omaha and have had no luck... until I found this place. The food was made-to-order, quick, super affordable and so yummy! I had the carne asada sopes which are my personal favorite and carne asada tacos. The staff was also very friendly and attentive which is always a little plus in my book. I will be back to try the desert because I was just too full this time. You will not be disappointed with the restaurant. FIVE STARS AND TWO THUMBS UP!

I had lunch with Janet Yellen and she gave it 4.5 stars. Yellen remarked that the price was cheap even though she was paying with the Federal Reserve's credit card. Yellen hit the jackpot with her lunch. She ordered a steak and seafood fajitas dish and polished it off quicker than you can read a single page of Veblen's "Theory of the Leisure Class." She thought it was very fresh; the food, not the book. The book was written by a Carleton College alum in the last century. I had a burrito. I had previously had the tacos. Both were good. The place is small and slightly noisy due to the metal ceiling. The workers and many of the customers were authentic. They know real Mexican. Yellen will be back. Not sure if she will bring Greenspan and Volcker.

Outstanding! We stopped here a few weeks ago on what happened to be taco night (Mondays)! It was perfect. Only $.99 each and you can choose what kind of meat you want on them...and they have quite a few choices, 8-10 from what I remember. We started out with Chips and Salsa which was good. But basic, nothing memorable about either which was fine. My brother decided to get 4 tacos (they are small)--Asada, Chorizo and 2 Carnitas. They are very authentic--no cheese or tomatoes on these. Just cilantro, a bit of onion and a lime to squeeze on top. My brother really enjoyed them all but said the carnitas was his favorite. I had been on a bit of a taco binge lately, so I went completely out of my comfort zone for Mexican food and ordered the Chicken & Chipotle. It was sliced chicken in a creamy chipotle sauce with a good amount of heat. It came with rice, beans and tortillas. This was seriously so good. I would never think to get a "cream sauce" at a Mexican restaurant, but I am happy I tried it! Good spice level, well-cooked chicken and I may have tried to lick my plate when no one was looking. The only down-side was the service was sub-par. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived--it is fairly small (10-12 tables) and almost completely full when we left...Yet there seemed to be only 2 people working. A cook and a waitress. Of course I didn't hold it against them, but I would have to assume its their busiest night considering the $.99 tacos...maybe hire someone for Mondays? Regardless, I will be back.

Solid Mexican food in this neighborhood! I would compare it to Abelardo's in the next shopping center over. The staff was really personable and my burrito was out within minutes- perfect since I was on a tight lunch break. It's a simple lunch and dinner stop, perfect for a quick meal or take out after a long day. My lengua burrito didn't wow me too much--also as a tip you have to specify you want rice inside or it'll be beans and meat only. At $5.50, I wasn't too upset about that. Since I live closer to South Omaha anyway, this will not likely be a frequent stop for me!

Really good food. Decided to try them out instead of Abelardos which is right up the block and we are happy we did. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and the owner is very personable.

I wanted to give a better rate because the food was pretty good. The problem was they are under staffed. The manager was doing the best she can but she was the only one waiting tables & working the register so she could only do so much. Either way she was nice & did her best to provide a good service.

The beef cheek and carnitas tacos were delicious. Tender meat atop perfect tortillas. Only regret is that we didn't order more. The chicken quesadilla was also really good. We were initially disappointed when we opened the to-go container but again, the tender meat and simple but delicious flavors stood out.

So far I am digging this place. It is fairly new and occupies the same space where Zemogs used to be (and way better than Zs). The tacos are $1.50 for any meat. Best way to describe these are mini street tacos. Double 4 inch corn tort, meat, cilantro, and onions. On my first visit I ordered the Carnitas Burrito and it was pretty tasty as well and packed with pork. The same woman has been at the counter both times. I am not sure but I think she is the owner and is very nice.

Loved it! I had the burrito al pastor. My wife had shrimp enchiladas. My son had nachos asada. All were very good. They have tongue, cheek and tripe on the menu as well. Authentic Mexican food in a very clean restaurant. We also ordered guacamole which was made fresh to order and was delicious. Our new fav for Mexican food in Omaha!

New favorite place for Mexican in my neighborhood. Great food, similar in vein to Abelardo's and D'Leon's. However, you can tell the ingredients are a little better here, and this place does cost comparatively more as a result. But worth it to me. Very small dining room, maybe 6 or 7 tables, don't bring a huge group. But they make your order up very fast to go. Only complaint is they are only open till 9. Hopefully that changes as I generally eat dinner later than that.

NOT OPEN SUNDAY!! Good tacos. Salsa was just ok. Nothing too spicy. Better than chain mexican.

Mediocre service and bland food (no salt). The chips were very stale, so it was ok that we only had around 10 for two people.

Good selection of food, fresh ingredients, decent service, mute environment, would recommend.

I was bummed out when the old Mexican place Zemogs left this space. Loved their food at first but it had gone down hill to some extent before it closed. Anyway, I was happy that a new Mexican place opened up in it's place. the food at Los Compadres is fresh and tasty. Nothing bad so far but I've only been twice now. The owner really goes out of her way to make sure your happy here, which I love at a restaurant. I love the entrepreneurial spirit, and she has it. Would definitely recommend people try it.

I walk by this place once a week getting groceries and saw that a new Mexican Taco restaurant had opened up here and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. They have small authentic Mexican tacos at a great price (as well as a full Mexican menu). The tacos have onions and cilantro, not lettuce and cheese (although, you can get more americanized tacos if you like). I prefer the small authentic tacos. I got a sampler of meats, Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Chorizo, Chicken and Carnitas. They were all hot, juicy, and tasty. I preferred the Asada and Chorizo but the Carnitas was very good, too. They give you free chips and Salsa while you wait. The Salsa is somewhat spicy with a fair amount of onions, Cilantro and hot peppers. The salsa they give you on the side in a squeeze bottle with the tacos is very hot and tastes like habaneros. They said they have .99 cent tacos on Mondays so I'll be back for sure. The lady who owns/runs the place is super friendly and happy to chat with customers. I felt welcome and appreciated as a customer. Thanks!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
