Had a free appetizer for dear husbands birthday so thought we should stop in before heading to an event downtown. We were quickly seated when we walked in although it was awkward to see and hear the hostesses make fun of the couple they had just taken care of. Perusing the menu I saw they had gotten rid of my favorite burger (sigh) and since the husband was going to have a steak, I thought I would have the prime rib. The prime rib was just OK. I make MUCH better at home. The crust did not have a lot of seasoning. It was a nice piece of meat, but the flavor was just not there. The center was barely room temp. The mashed "white cheddar" potatoes were a bland (we tasted no cheddar), and the rosemary gravy tasted like a powdered mix with rosemary tossed in. Husband liked his steak, but agreed the potatoes were bland. The best part of our meal was the appetizer - Firecracker Shrimp - however we were glad it was free. Think Bang Bang Shrimp at Bone Fish but not nearly as good. And sadly when we looked it is actually more expensive. The beers as usual were tasty, but I don't think we will be returning anytime soon.

First of all, they were very accommodating for our walk-in group of 13. The servers and hostess were all very nice. The food took a minute to come out, but that's expected with such a large group. My "side" salad (needed more dressing but) was the size of a dinner salad for only $3.95. The steak blt sliders were great but the sauce was forgotten. All-in-all a very pleasant experience.

My wife and i stopped there today for a early dinner. We started off with the crab and asiago dip, which was pretty good. I ordered a long Island ice tea which had way to much sour in it. For my main course, I ordered the Cuban sandwich which was not good at all. They deep fried it and that is all I could taste was the oil and not so good beer batter. I wish Jackson St or M's Pub would of been open today instead of stopping here. They really could of done a better job cleaning the place also.

I loved the Rock Bottom Brewery. The service was excellent, the ambiance was fantastic. The decor made you feel very welcomed from the huge wooden entry doors to the open rafters and open beautiful brick walls. The service was excellent and very welcoming. It made me feel like they had known me for years. The food was magnificent, fresh, the presentation was fantastic and to top it off the bison burger was fabulous. The topping was refreshing with a mix of onions, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes and a wonderful addition of some spice. Overall I would love to come back in the winter and have another chance to enjoy this wonderful place. Thank you for an excellent lunch experience.

I rarely dine at chains, so I definitely gave my dining companion a suspicious glance when he suggested Rock Bottom. Get the kale and smoked tomato salad! It was fantastic and I can't wait to try to recreate it at home. Lots of kale tossed in a spicy caesar dressing and then topped with cheddar, tomatoes and black beans. They adorably arranged blue corn tortilla chips around the entire salad. Their current IPA is tasty and got me tipsy. Parking isn't exactly plentiful, but you'll always find a spot....Eventually. Follow up your meal by taking in the surrounding beauty of downtown Omaha :)

I went here for a girls' night on a Saturday night. There were 8 of us and we were able to get right in with our reservation (always a plus). We were seated at one of the tap tables which seemed like a really cool concept even though we did not use it. This restaurant has a great atmosphere - lots of copper and heavy wood. The service was very friendly and efficient. Our waitress was very accommodating of our large group of 8 and handled our orders and splitting our checks very well. My meal however was disappointing. My friend and I both ordered the Makers Mark Burger (Maker's Mark bourbon glaze, gorgonzola cheese, and crispy onion straws) because it sounded like a great combination of interesting flavors. I ordered my burger medium and she ordered her's medium rare - both burgers came out well done. I could live with that but the burger also lacked flavor and was super salty. The glaze was served on the side and did not have much noticeable flavor other than saltiness. The fries were pretty good, though. Someone ordered the jalapeno pretzel sticks and they were very good. Overall this place is just ok. Some of their food is good (I still really enjoy their mac 'n cheese) but the prices are high for what can be hit-or-miss food. They do have good beer and their other drink prices are pretty reasonable for downtown (my Jameson was around $5). As I mentioned before, I usually end up here at least once a year but it is hard to go out of my way when there are so many consistently great restaurants in this area.

The service is a little slow, there wasn't a hostess for the first 5 minutes so I just sat at the bar. Then I sat there for another 5 minutes before the bartender came back... But after that first interaction the bartender was pretty attentive. I ordered the BBQ chicken salad with a couple of modifications and she was accommodating. It was a huge portion for the price I paid, it was full of moist chicken, and so flavorful. Really good for a chain restaurant! I like how the manager goes around and speaks to every customer individually to see how their experience went, that makes a difference.

I WAS (past tense) a loyal RB patron. Not now, we won't be back. My wife and I, and our 8-month-old son, walked in at 5:30 on a Saturday night. It was to be our meal before the Creighton basketball game. There were multiple open tables. But, because we had a baby and needed a high chair, we were told it would be a 30 minute wait. OPEN TABLES, 30 MINUTE WAIT. I won't say more. Old Chicago got my business tonight, and RB won't be getting my business in the future. SEE YA.

We walked into Rock Bottom, excited for a beer and some good pub-style food. The restaurant was crowded and active but not packed. The crowd was typical for a Thursday night in the Old Market. We walked up to the host's stand and waited. It took 12 minutes to be greeted by someone (three people had come and gone without even making eye contact). There was a line for the host's stand! The host said hello and asked how many. Then he stopped us and said "um, let me get them set up first" and walked away. A few minutes later, someone else walked up and asked us how many. We asked about patio seating. The man replied "we're in here right now." I'm not sure what that meant. The sign out on the patio directs people inside for patio seating. So, instead of beer and dinner we got a strange, cryptic message about where we were? Ok... Uh, nevermind. Bye. I usually wouldn't review a place that I didn't get a chance to eat at or one that was so obviously busy that I immediately turned around and left/was told there would be a long wait for a table...but that was such an unusual experience and example of just poor service that compelled me to review. A host's stand with a host was a very welcome sight at the next restaurant.

Not a bad spot to pop into for some pub grub and a pint. The restaurant is large, almost cavernous. In the middle of it all is a wrap-around copper top bar. Their claim to fame is being a brew pub like, say, the Upstream. I suppose they pull it off, but in more of watered down, large chain sort of a way. It seems the aim of Rock Bottom is to basically give you a completely average "trendy" dining experience. Let's just call it Spaghetti Works for adults. The IPA: Neither too hoppy nor bitter. Sure. Fine. The music: '80s hip, but was played at a very respectable volume. Mmmhmm. Service: Nice and friendly. OK. Ambiance: Comfortable and safe. Other patrons: Average Joes and Janes.

Of the dozens of breweries that serve food, rock bottom is one of the better ones in town. The chicken and Mac surpassed my expectation for bar food and the atmosphere always seems appropriate for the time of days.

The food was not good. I had the chicken bruschetta. It was very gross. The chicken was rubbery in texture and pink in some areas. The broccoli was so badly burnt that all I could taste was char. In hindsight, I should've sent it back. I would not recommend eating here. However, I would recommend the beer. The IPA and the brown ale were delightful. If I had only come to drink, this would've gotten 5 stars.

Great food. I had the burbon Gorgonzola burger. Hubby had the brisket burger. Beer was great. Had the flight. Couldn't sit at a tap table because we had our baby with, but other than that great atmosphere.

There were some good, ok and bad things about my visit to this restaurant. Good: - The decor is really nice and unique. I liked the brick and the overall layout. Also, the noise level was amazingly minimal. Considering it's kinda 'loft' like I thought it was going to be really loud. - The have Diet Mt. Dew - OK: - We all had burgers. Mine was just so-so. It was pretty greasy but I was really hungry. Also, it didn't have any cheese (not that I should have gotten any since it was so clearly crazy fattening) Bad: - Our waiter tried to be helpful but he was really short with us and was clealry trying to rush us out even though there weren't that many people in the restaurant. I get the impression he probably is pressured to have high turnover especially on a Friday but it was kinda uncomfrotable. Overall, ok experience. I'll probably check out somewhere else if I'm ever in Omaha again.

Service was good but the food was better. Had the bourbonzola Rib-eye the first night, and it was so good I came back for a burger the next night. I'm from out of town. Maybe it's the Omaha steaks that are so great, but I would give the meat very high marks. Perfectly cooked medium rare on the steak and medium on the burger. In other words, if want a good burger or steak at a brewery in Omaha... don't go to Upstream, go to the Rock Bottom brewery.

We capped our evening out with a stop in at Rock Bottom. The beer selection looked pretty good, and I settled on their Dark Munich lager, which tasted remarkably close to the traditional dunkles I have had when in Nuremberg -- it's a solid drinker, but not so heavy / overpowering that you can't have several of them. While I enjoyed our time at Rock Bottom, I'm afraid that it was because were at the end of our evening, I can't think of anything remarkable about the place -- we ordered beer, drank them, and left. I read elsewhere that this is a chain, so perhaps there is that. This is the tenth of a series of ~13 reviews about a weekend getaway in Omaha.

Two visits and I'm okay with the beer. The Kolsch and Scottish ale are both nice beers. Others are okay as well... I've had the sampler and really didn't dislike anything. The problem hear is service without snap. Hire some people who want to serve. Who LOVE to serve. There are good bartenders here... I've seen two... but the rest are not so good. Slow to spot new customers. And the hostess was very confusing when she told us we could not use a high-top table for drinks only. It was almost 1030 pm and she had few diners... so the bar got PACKED because you could not sit down to drink. This place is called a brewery... so whatever seating policy she was trying to explain needs to change.

OK, for a chain restaurant this is actually a very cool place to come eat. I've been here several times and have yet to be disappointed. It's in a great location, they have a nice outside patio, it's not expensive, and they have their own beer. Sounds like a winning combo to me. Great atmosphere inside surrounding the circular bar in the middle. Lots of nice decor and signs, mostly advertising their different brews. Service has always been nice and helpful. Food in my opnion has always been very good. Their burgers are awesome. Some of the best I've had in Omaha. And that's coming from a chain restaurant. Their burger with the egg on top is fantastic as well as the Roadhouse burger. Their beers are pretty great as well. Their brewery is in Denver but they are Rock Bottom's own brews. They have a range of beers from IPAs to Stouts, to ciders. They're all pretty decent in my opinion. I wouldn't buy a six pack but they're worth trying. Overall, I think it's a great place in the Old Market to stop and have some food. Especially if you don't want to stop at some of the more ecclectic, expensive choices. And the patio/deck is awesome.

I ordered the shrimp and lobster enchiladas and they were very tasty. The flavors were balanced and not overwhelmed by the green chile cream sauce. Their tomatillo salsa had great flavor and was only a tiny bit spicy. The cilantro line rice was a little bland and inoffensive, as was the black bean side it came with. The Belgian Stout was perfect. Overall I loved it and the staff was very friendly. My food arrived in a timely manner. The bathroom was clean.

No server for 20 minutes, no menus, no drinks. The place is infested with Gnats. Gross. They were flying all over everything. Sick. We had reservations at 7pm for a party and they came back and told one our girls that they were out of the Cubano sandwich she ordered. Awesome. Then she orders some type of brisket sandwich. All our food arrives except for hers. Of course the pregnant lady doesn't get hers! The party was half done eating by the time she got her food. Then we got our checks....no offer for a second drink...ok good let's go spend our money somewhere else. Get some help with the gnat problem and order food correctly. Shouldn't be out of the "cuban sandwich" at 7pm ...ridic

Food was good but service lacked! I realize that it was a busy night but he wanted to take our order immediately after sitting for ten minutes for him even to introduce himself. The food had great flavor but didn't feel like staying long because our waiter checked on us once then brought our check! I had the Mac n chicken great flavor.

We were in town for a long weekend, and we were so excited to enjoy some craft beer and lunch. We were seated right away, but then had to wait for over ten minutes for even our water. We ordered a flight of samplers so we could taste their craft brews. It took over thirty minutes to get our beer, and when we did, we were informed that 3 of the 6 were actually different that what we ordered because they ran out. How disappointing that they were out but then also that we did not get to choose other brews that we were actually interested in. We ordered the calamari, with intention of also ordering lunch. It took so long to get our beers and app that we decided not to order anything else. We also never got refills on our water. Even the MOD couldn't tell us about the beers we ordered. Plus, for a flight sampler and calamari, and bad service, we spent $30+. A disappointing experience to say the least. Glad we left and moved on to another downtown brewery for our lunch. If you're looking for mediocre beer and poor service, this is your place, otherwise, keep looking.

Do yourself a favor and go next door to Old Chicago. Walked into this place after the Garth Brooks concert to get some food and was told that they wouldnt serve us because someone with our group had too much to drink even know they ordered a water. We werent even informed by our server we were told by our friends that were sitting by that they wouldnt serve us. We then sent our group of 12 next door to Old Chicago. Terrible customer service. We won't be back.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and the drinks, my food however wasn't too great. I had the BBQ Bacon chicken sandwich it was bland and they forgot to put BBQ sauce on it. Other than that it seems like a decent place to eat.

Casual brewery, bar menu with an upscale atmosphere. The menu is limited I thought, but it had all of the basics on it--chicken, steak, fish, hamburgers and salads. The prime rib was delicious. The pork chops in the cranberry sauce was way hotter than I expected. Unless you enjoy a spicy kick with every bite throughout your meal, I would avoid the pork chops. It's a place I would definitely return. Feels like a nice restaurant with no pressure to dress up without feeling like you're going to a local bar or fast food restaurant.

for being such a large restaurant it certainly felt like crowded and echoing in a bad way, maybe it was because of everybody celebrating St Paddys at the Old market tonight ( or that I was sober) but this place did not contribute in a positive way to my intentioned good night out and experiencing my new city. even with tables open early in the evening I was rushed out. I like to eat on a schedule so I was planning to meet friends later at the place by the time they got there it was an hour and a half wait to eat and people were leaving in droves and moving onto the other places so I am glad I ate when I had the chance. I understand it was busy but I was not even asked if I wanted dessert my check was presented already totaled, pay when I was ready and GONE. ( magical server this one was) yea- I know that trick it means " give us our money and get out" I wasn't ready but I left anyway and waited outside and people watched which was really quite fun actually. when asked by the people coming in I answered: the burger was good ( I got the chili cheese burger special) but the fries could have been fresher frankly for the price. I don't like to be a complainer, but having not really that hot fries annoys me along with undercooked ones mixed in. they are fries. I manned the fryer for several years back in the day. it wasn't that difficult to make hot fries! I really didn't attempt to tell the server that because I already was getting the vibe that I was taking too long just eating much less there was no salt on the table and such. when my friends got there later by that time it was echoing packed and crowded with people constantly interrupting our conversation wanting by and since I had eaten I just wanted to go because the place was giving me a migraine.. so I went. they were called that their table was ready. I don't know. I hope their fries were better than mine. I hope everybody's fries were better than mine! again.. burger was fine. but yea.. I have experienced better especially with the fries and denied dessert. fry-gate! no lukewarm soggy fries! I got cupcakes elsewhere.. so there. my friends just now are eating their food and they have been there since before 8.

This restaurant is severely under appreciated in the area. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the drinks are amazing! We received better service here than any other establishment in Old Market. We came through during their reverse happy hour, such a good deal! Our favorites were the Ultimate Arnold Palmer, Specialty Dark, Mac and Cheese, Jalapeño Pretzel Stix and the Guac!

When we got up to the host stand, we were greeted very rudely. There were three people there and we were treated like we were a burden. One guy was telling the two girls to take us to a table and they were literally sighing loudly and rolling their eyes. This went on for a couple minutes. Then one "graciously" led us to a table, and it was super super rude. It was busy but it was a good ten minutes before we were asked for our drink order. Our order was wrong, so they took a couple dollars off the total for that. Our waitress was good but she seemed stretched thin and we never got refills on our water.

Having been to Rock bottom brewery ten times now I am finally ready to write my review. When this place opened in the old market there was a lot of hype about how cool it was and this was before omaha really saw our craft beer/ brew pub scene really awaken. Food: The food at Rock Bottom is good not great. For the price I would expect more of a WOW! Factor. I've had nearly everything on the menu and the burgers, wraps, sandwiches, appetizers are all good just not great. I will say that if you visit during happy hour the prices are spot on and that's when the value of the product and the value of your dollar really meet equilibrium. Drinks: The main reason I give Rock Bottom 3 stars and not 4 is because of their beer. They pose as a brew pub but their beer is just OK. I will admit I am very much a beer snob and a lot of friends would disagree on this point but I have sampled nearly every beer on the menu and everything from their house IPA to their ales and stouts are just under average. As a brew pub you have to excel at your beer at minimum and Rock Bottom quite simply does not. Atmosphere: This place holds a large corner spot in the old market and does a lot of business and the design and decor are above average, the bar is pretty neat looking and takes up the entire middle of the restaurant. Your average crowd consists of anywhere from twenty somethings to families and they happily accommodate families and people with disabilities with a huge ramp outside for easy access. Conclusion: Great place to go for happy hour if you want tasty snacks and average beer. Stay away for lunch and dinner as you won't get your money's worth!

I'm not certain it deserves a 3, but it wasn't awful so I don't want to give it a 2. Let's start with their beer, cuz they are a brewery, I had a 6beer sampler and I wasn't impressed with any of the beers. They weren't horrible, just bland. If I had to choose one to stay alive, I'd pick their IPA. The rest were very boring. Now the food, I had the ahi tuna salad, which wasn't anything to brag about. My wife had the veggie tacos and she said they were just okay. The service was also, "just okay". All-in-all, it ain't bad, but it ain't good. If you're debating between this place and another, I'd try the other.

My husband and I were in town for thanksgiving and stopped by for a late lunch. Place was not busy and we both ordered the chicken tortilla soup and a salad. When the food came out my order was a turkey reuben. They fixed it fast and the waiter said it was on him. Soup was very good.

Had reservations for Friday night for a bachlorette party and was placed at one of the big tap on table booths up front. Obviously at a bachlorette party, there is drinking...and when the waitress came over to tell us she thinks the tap is broke, that was a big bummer....You would think they would fix that. The food was ok.....but they really need new ranch. It has NO TASTE. Everytime I come here I forget not to order a salad or chicken fingers or anything that you want to use ranch with, because it has zero taste. Overall it was a ok experience, just wish they wouldn't put a party at a broken tap table. Especially when I had reservations weeks in advance.

Came here with 3 other people. We were sat in back booth. Our server was nice and informative about the menu. I ordered the pulled pork quesadillas. Quesadillas were served as tacos. Now, I know this is Nebraska. However, I think if there's a restaurant or chef naming something quesadillas, I should get quesadillas, right? Well, I had to cut the tacos into quesadillas. Pulled pork was like barbacoa. I had had pulled pork earlier during my trip in another restaurant. Pulled pork has a sauce. This "pulled pork" from Rock Bottom, was barbacoa. I should've sent it back but I wanted to have a nice dining experience with the group I was with. Especially since everyone on my table were enjoying their dish they ordered. The last thing I want to mention is that all of us at my table were still enjoying our drinks and it was obvious we were not done when our server puts the check on our table then seconds later came and asked if we were ready for her meaning to pay for the check. We told her, "no". This came across all of us at this table that she was pushing us out. At that moment the restaurant wasn't full, so it wasn't that the restaurant needed our table. I think this server wanted us to leave so she'd get another group to maximize the tips in her section. I won't name this server but it was the server who also has a body lotion business on the side. My group and I will not be coming back to this restaurant in the future.

Franchise. I can't justify more than 2 stars if it's the same trite experience i could get in Portland or Denver, etc..... I don't go to McDonalds because i don't like McDonalds. Threes guys are no different. With a billboard that had woo girls the time i was here was worse than the HIMYM finale.no surprise, i just learned i wasted my time trying to learn to like it

Prompt, polite service. Was greeted immediately by the host who was very friendly and then continued on to the bar. Bison burger was well prepared and absolutely delicious. I enjoyed the wicked elf and the red ale beers. This is my first stop here, but as I work in the area I will most certainly be back.

When I first came in, it seemed like any other brewery and restaurant type place. I assumed the focus was on the beer and the food was a side note with the typical mediocre items. The beer might be their focus, I can't say either way, since I didn't try it, but the food didn't at all seem like a side note of mediocre items I expected. They had a featured menu with Oktoberfest items that looked pretty good. What really caught my eye was the Laredo Burger, though. I'm not a huge fan of burgers, but it's hard to go wrong with a burger, too, so it's always an easy, safe choice for me. The Laredo burger features pepperjack cheese, housemade guac, and chipotle mayo. It was definitely the best burger I've had in Omaha. And it was the perfect size; not too big to be difficult to eat, but big enough that it absolutely stuffed me. Everyone I was with really enjoyed their food too. And there are several items on the menu I want to try, so I will definitely be going back. Another cool feature they have that I haven't seen before is beer taps right at the table. If you choose to use them, it's the same price as if you were to buy it by the glass or whatever, you just pay by the ounce instead. I could see that being great for a group... but getting expensive in a hurry with such easy access to the source! This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha and I'm excited to explore more adventurous items on the menu.

Came here a few times on my visits to Omaha, & it seems to be staple in the Old Market area. I have come when it was empty for lunch, and also during a busy night when it seems to be a lot of young locals coming out for drinks. Service here has always been good and friendly. While they don't have many healthy vegetarian options, they are definitely willing to customize the meal as best they can, such as subbing veggies for fries. However, I was disappointed they don't lettuce wrap their burgers! Either way I just left out the bun and ordered extra lettuce & tomatoes to round out the meal. I love their seasonal pumpkin beer- make sure to order it with the cinnamon & sugar rim!

This place has the absolute best staff. They know the brews. They know the food and what pairs with what which in this day and age is hard to find. A couple of recommendations. The molly brown ale is the best I have ever had and I have tasted quite a few. And the ahi tuna appetizer is superb. You wont find Better anywhere. Supremely fresh. I'd give it more than five stars if it were possible and take it home to Kansas City with me.

Came in with a big group for a business lunch. Great service, very attentive but not overbearing. Good beers, but nothing that wowed me on the sampler. I'd probably try a few different ones before saying its a wash on the brews. I got the 2am burger and the hashbrown was overwhelming. I took it off and are the rest of the burger without it. Without the excess potato taste I was pretty happy with the burger, I've had better but still good. Had the mac and cheese for a side and it was pretty good. Cheese is a bit runny but I enjoyed the mild heat with it. I'd come back and try something different for food and drink.

My boyfriend and I went on a triple date with his siblings and their significant others because we had a groupon. It was super super crowded when we arrived and we waited about 20 minutes to be sea.ted, which seemed appropriate. However, as soon as we sat down our waitress was efficient and fast. She was accurate with our orders and they come out in a timely manner. She even made recommendations hangout was to what her favorites were. The atmosphere is definitely a place to hangout with friends and try some beer if that pleases your taste. The food was pretty good. I thought my chicken was a little dry, but the huge nachos was delicious. My boyfriend enjoyed his burger and the arrthink that array of beers we tasted was good as well. Our favorite part of the dish was the dessert, a sundae. We thought it could do without the nuts, but it was super good as well! Yelp 365 Challenge: 91/365

This place is "middle of the road" just like the 3 star review represents. Every time we end up here I leave not feeling good or bad about the experience. Everything is fine and nothing is terrible, it's just not a place that you want to rush back to.

OK for bar food. We had a great table outdoors, so we could watch the food traffic. My advice is, don't arrive too hungry, or you'll over order those too-salty appetizers, and end up sorry.

While every brewery isn't for everyone, Rock Bottom has something for everyone. I'm a foodie, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that I'll spend a lot of time on reviewing the food. While the food is passable, it can't really compare to nearby microbrewery, The Upstream. Sorry to disappoint. Where The Upstream takes full command of quality of food and beer, there is an area in which Rock Bottom excels, and that area is uniqueness. At Rock Bottom, you are given the option to be your own "beertender" as they offer tables with a tap at the center. The entertainment value at these tables, alone, is worth it. While the food is a bit pricey for the flavors (or lack thereof), being able to enjoy others' company and have access to an unlimited supply of the brew seems to make it all worthwhile. Careful, there, too, though... Rock Bottom charges their "beertenders" by the ounce - and that can be a pretty hefty charge if everyone partakes but doesn't join in the cut when it comes time to pay. All in all, the ambiance is pretty cool, crafted beers flow, and a good time can be had by all - but, if you're into the food, take the extra block and a half walk down to The Upstream...

  • Miguel R.

It's a small chain. Have the same thing in Chicago - and there is nothing unique about this one..... except it's in Omaha. Titan toothpicks are amazing. Micro brewery selection can satisfy a majority of everyone's flavor. Food is fairly priced and the quantity is sufficient to fill up Shrek.

I recently stopped in here for lunch with a few co workers and had a terrible experience. At first things were ok, we got seated right away and our drinks came quickly, but then out waiter disappeared for long stretches despite the fact that it was not at all busy. Once we finally ordered our food, it took nearly 45 minutes to arrive. My chicken spinach burger was ok, however it had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. My wife's turkey burger was disgusting, seemingly with more huge chunks of onion in the patty than turkey meat. A coworker got a salad and asked for no egg on it, and they messed that up too. It took another 10 minutes to get her salad right. I've been here before with much better service and food, but something in this place has gone downhill.

Imagine you're at Granite City, but it's owned by the same company as Old Chicago (and take away the 100+ beer options) and you'll find yourself at Rock Bottom Brewery. While they do take reservations, the hostess assured me they weren't needed and when our party of 6 showed up we were seated immediately. The restaurant was much larger than I anticipated and there was no trace of the Famous Dave's that used to occupy the space before. The interior was well designed, except for the industrial sized ductwork, which was painted an eggshell white. I could go on about that ductwork (as I did at dinner), but I'll leave it at that here. Our server was attentive and friendly at first, he recommended drinks and took our order, but then disappeared. He re-emerged to bring out bill and was apologetic... something about low staffing. The other employees that were left with the responsibility of our table didn't quite measure up. Waters were left to go empty, ketchup and malt vinegar for the meal had to be asked for specifically (of which the vinegar was somewhat unceremoniously slammed down on the table by the food runner). The beers were good. I tried the seasonal wheat, but ended up with a mojito (described as 'the best in town'... Restaurants take note, I just can't say no to that line). It was ultimately too heavy on the lime and was not, in my opinion, the best in town. In fact it ranks behind both Gusto and Mark's. But that shouldn't be too much of a surprise... we were at a brew pub after all. Now, on to the food. Appetizer and salad looked good, but I didn't try either of those. I went for the Laredo burger (southwest inspired), which ended up soggy and relatively lacking in terms of flavor. And while I did appreciate that they have the option of chicken, turkey or beef for burgers, I had to go for beef which I'd say was on the same level of the two new chain burger places I've been to in town. All the sandwiches (and fish, fried walleye) were served with shoestring french fries. This was the second time in as many weeks that we found ourselves confronted by this conundrum. And while there is a time and place for shoestring fries, this was not it. The pile of frites went cold immediately and were either overcooked to the point of being crunchy or undercooked with a most undesirable texture. Bottom line, if I find myself here again, I'll stick to the beer and appetizers at the bar. But if I'm close enough to go to Rock Bottom again, I might just opt for the Old Chicago next door instead.

The convenience is perfect, seconds away from where I live. I've tried a few different dishes but the cobb salad is the only one I've had twice. While the food is ok, the service is pretty bad. I'm composing this next door at Old Chicago since I left again after no one appearing to work there... third time in 2 weeks no one is there. Is it too much to expect service? I think I'm done with this place no matter how close. 5pm must be a bad time for food there.

Someone made a crack about the Applebee's-with-custom-beer vibe. Not far wrong, except Applebee's makes uniformly horrible food, and what we had was very, very good. The fried mac 'n' cheese appetizer was fantastic, crunchy outside and creamy inside. The salsa verde was assuredly homemade. Could have been spicier but hey, this is the Midwest. We ordered the ponzu salmon, which was perfectly cooked and very tasty -- just one quibble here: the rice was on the short-grain/cheap side. What was it, Calrose? Jasmine rice would have been more the thing. The fried chicken was very good. The mashed potatoes didn't taste like white cheddar at all, but were nonetheless very good. The Groupon we used included a larger-than-usual flight of six tasters. The red and brown ales were nothing to write home about, but the koelsch was very good. The stout was fine; the chocolate stout very good; the raspberry wheat quite good. I can't think of anywhere else to get a koelsch easily. Service was a little slow, as others have complained, but what the hell; it was our first date night in a long time, and the babysitter wasn't in a hurry. I'd recommend this place to anyone and i hope to come back.

Traditional bar food. It's good but nothing special. Beer is very good. Their IPA is better than Upstream's IPA just down the street. Max is a cool bartender. They put the Mets game on for me in Nebraska. Cool place.

I've tried all of their beers, and was not disappointed. Favorites are Red Rocks Ale and Molly's Brown Ale. We recently reserved one of the tap tables which was a lot of fun! They charge by the oz and there is a little computer screen that tracks what you've drank. Big fan of the food! Favorites are the 2am burger and the Bourbonzola burger. You can get the burgers with beef, chicken, turkey, or veggie which is nice. Definitely one of my favorite spots in the Old Market - great pregame spot for basketball or hockey too! They also have a late night happy hour starting at 10pm with some great appetizer and shot specials, and $3 pints.

We stopped in this place a little hungry and very thirsty while visiting family in Omaha. We were seated outside on the patio, per our request. Our server was an attractive young man that was either new in the service industry or just didn't care about earning tips. Because we had never been to this brewery before we had questions about their beer. Our server was not helpful in describing the different beers and seemed to be bothered by our presence. We felt like we were wasting his time even though the place was not crowded, there was just one other table besides ours out on the patio at that time. We gave up on making an educated choice and just pointed to a beer. While our server was gone filling our beer order, which turned out to be the wrong choice, we noticed that we could have started off with a beer sampler, which is what he should have recommended in the first place. Unable to finish beer we didn't care for and unwilling to be a further burden on our server we closed our tab and went elsewhere for dinner. I wish we had been able to get past the bad service to try out the food but we didn't want to stay in a restaurant where we didn't feel welcome.

Much like Maggie's review, our lunch started off good. Quickly sat on the patio at lunch (1st people out there) got a waitress and beverages right away. That's about where the goodness stopped. People start arriving on the patio, orders start coming out. I had ordered a salad off of their "special" menu of the day- only asking for my dressing on the side. BF ordered avocado chicken sandwich with fries. No special or crazy ordering here! The waitress finally came by at one point- ONLY after my BF went to ask about our food (about 40 min had passed at this time) she said, oh, we are just waiting on your side- really; you are waiting on the fries..? More time passed. Then she came back and gave us a story about the button to order chicken versus steak- what, I thought...there was no chicken involved in the salad at all. She wanted to know if we wanted the sandwich- oh the soggy one that has been sitting under the heat lamp for 45 min now, sure. Manager #1 brought the salad out. Which did have steak on it, but was the Southwest salad or something, with dressing (on the side) some ranch/salsa mixture...I tried to explain that this was not the salad at all on the "special" menu. Bless her heart; she seemed utterly confused about the whole order. It was apparent that she was new and not trained about the menu or the entering of food on the system. I have been a waitress, so I get it, but own up to the mistakes. Manager #1 did not give a shit about the mis order; he was rude, and unconcerning. Manager #2 who arrived, applause to you! Hell, we even laughed chatting with him. he comped our whole lunch- although since I didn't care for the salad, I am left still hungry. We did of course still leave a tip for waitress, it's a hard job- and it is the restaurants responsibility to train the wait staff, and train them on how to respond when something goes bad. I will return of course...for happy hour only and to eat those delicious pretzels!

We had a Kolsch, a Red Ale, and a Stout. All were quite bland, without much flavor. Our table ordered a pulled-pork sandwich, a lunch-sized Santa Fe chicken salad, a non-memorable sandwich, and a non-memorable burger. The lunch-sized salad offered more food than the full-sized sandwiches. The only meal anyone was happy with was the salad, which can be recommended. Everything else was forgettable but edible.

The beer is good. If you are only interested in beer...go forth. While I was interested mainly in beer, my sizable gut was also interested in food. And my sizable gut left angry. Had the prime rib sandwich and the absolute worst cole slaw any one has ever invented. Great location though.

I can handle bad service if the food is incredible, and I'll tolerate mediocre food if the service is sublime. Rock Bottom has neither great food nor even acceptable service. When we walked in, we had to ask the hostess if she would seat us, or if we needed to seat ourselves. She seemed bothered by the question. Our beers were good, but not worth the 20 minute wait to be served by someone who was not our server. When our server finally approached the table, she asked if "we were sure" we had already been helped. The reason for the bad service may have been the crush of Husker fans who had early packed the restaurant. I know this to be the case, because my server offered this excuse for not having taken our drink order. The food was ok, though the fish and chips were too salty and the chips were a middle of the road frozen fry that was mediocre and not worthy of the entree's price point -- if I wanted fast food fries, I would have gone to the drive through. The staff was uneven. Some servers seemed to be well aware of their responsibilities while others were occupied with keeping up with the college game scores. Many of the employees seemed unfamiliar with good service and would narrate what they were doing. I didn't need the server to explain she would bring my entree when it was ready, as she set down my salad. The bus boy called attention to himself as he cleared the plate I had put to the side ("Let me take that"). I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that when I eat out, my focus should be on my dining companion, not the service staff. The final straw came when I made the mistake of paying in cash. When the server brought back our change, I noticed it was $0.55 short. Assuming it was an honest mistake I tried to find our server, but could not catch her attention. Another server asked if he could help when he overheard us express the desire to speak to a manager. He called over our server, not a manager, and she could not understand what was wrong. She was unable to do math. When I pointed out the error, she offered the excuse that the restaurant only dealt in quarters. She went on to say I should be familiar with this practice, many bars to it. I had to demand my proper change and the server made a show of digging the proper coin from her personal pocket book. Overall experience was terrible. I will never return.

Rock Bottom has some of the best "bar food" I've ever had. The pizzas, hot pretzels with cheese, and their 2 am burger are my favorites. It is definitely a bar however. Don't expect gourmet. The beer selection could be a little more extensive. I think they have 7-10 beers made by Rock Bottom. Everyone I tried was good but not great. They have a few "tap tables" with a tap right at your table. It keeps track of what you drink. I've seen tables like these in Europe but this is the first one in the states. We went here on opening day for baseball and reserved one of the tap tables. They suggest reserving the tables especially for busy days, but I've never found it that busy. They have quite a few TVs around the bar, but I wish they would have sound from the sporting events. We spoke to the waitress about it and she said that the bar would have to pay extra for the sound so they skipped it. Sad because I think it would really improve the atmosphere. I debated whether to give them 3 or 4 stars and ended up with 4 because it is my favorite bar food so far in Omaha. If you are in the mood to watch a game and get some decent food this is the place.

Beer trucked in from Des Moines? Are you kidding me!? Well, at least it's decent beer, and that's about what I'm compelled to say about everything else here: decent. Not great, but not awful. I tend to like Rock Bottoms simply because they have independent brewmasters who are more or less free to do their thing. The menus aren't anything spectacular, but they're tolerable chain food. I see a lot of complaints about service here, but on both visits I got good service. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Just... pretty average in all regards.

Good service. Food, not so good. Although I was told this previous to my going, I figured I'd go with an open mind. Those people were right. The food had potential to be decent. But I believe the entrees were poorly executed by the cook's. Beer that we tried went from okay to terrible. Tried a margarita that was about the worst I've ever had. Don't think I'd go back.

The food and drinks (martinis especially) are yummy and decently priced. However, the service is the worst I've ever experienced. I am a server in the Old Market myself and understand it can get busy. However, I've been to Rock Bottom 3 times in the past 3 weeks: two Monday nights and a Tuesday night and each time the service was horrible. I went on a Tuesday night and my boyfriend and I sat outside by the firpit. There were dirty plates everywhere and noone greeted us. When I finally flagged down a server, she picked up the tip on the firpit and I asked her for a menu. She rolled her eyes and never came back. We left and went to M'a Pub next door-the service there was friendly and the food was great. I wont be returning to Rock Bottom. If you go, be prepared for snooty service...or not service at all.

I went here last night with a few friends and it took a while for the food to come out. The waitress was nice but most of us were pretty hungry and we really noticed the delay on the food. I ordered a burger and the patty wasn't very juicy at all. The bun was dry. The fries were just mediocre. Friends mentioned that the portions were small. I probably won't be coming back here.

Old Market in Omaha is this great area to spend a day at. There are so many places to stop in and have a drink or eat some great food, to do some cool shopping. Rock Bottom is a real nice place to get a drink and watch the game. They have some cool bartenders and some fantastic beers. The place is big enough to bring a good size crowd.

I loved this place! We met with two of my husband's good friends at this location this past summer. Using the garage across the street, we found parking very easily, and even noticed some street parking available, which was nice. Inside, we were welcomed by old-meets-new type decor, with tasteful seating areas, and exposed brick. Nice! It was a moderately crowded evening, but we were seated quickly, and as soon as we opened our menus, we knew that this was going to be a great meal. After our shared appetizer of fried pickles and peppers, I had the ponzu salmon, while my husband tried a steak (we WERE in Omaha, after all!) while our other table companions ordered the mac n' cheese with chicken, and the ribs. Everything was good! I enjoyed every bite, and the two guys of the table enjoyed their brews, too! When it came time for dessert, I had already planned to imbibe, but was not even close to prepared for the deliciousness which was to follow...a slice of their equivilant of a guiness deep dark chocolate cheesecake. I looked it up later, and yes, just one slice is going to tip your scales at more than 1,000 calories, but boy, I'd run to Des Moines and back to even that sucker out...THAT good!

Crap service, 8pm on Friday night with plenty of tables and booths open. We asked for one of the booths with the taps as two were open. Waiter returned with the hostess with that huge fake flower in her hair. She proceeded to tell us in a rude snotty tone that we couldn't sit their because we needed a party of five or larger. With so many tables open one would think that you'd like customers sitting in them. This is the 2nd time the service has been bad, the bartenders are usually more concerned with their hair and gossiping with the other servers to pay any attention to the customer. Food for thought!!!! Empty class on your side of bar usually mean walk your ass over and ask if the customer needs more. We wont be going back.

    (1)
  • David C.

Our party of 8 was seated quickly and we ordered some beers. 10 minutes later half our beers came out. 10 minutes after that an excuse for the missing beers was made, and an appetizer order. 20 minutes later we got the food but still missing the beers. (note this is 40 minutes after we sat down, we are still waiting on some of our first round of drinks!) We ask to see the manager, she comes to our tables and makes an excuse about the bar computer, and promises our drink will be right over. 10 minutes later we grab our waitress as she flies by, she says she will "check on it". The bartenders are standing around playing with their phones. So we got up and left. On the way out the manager tried to shove an $80 tab in my face. We refused to pay a single cent!

Food was slightly above average and the beer was good. I had the BBQ ribs and chicken and the BBQ sauce was surprisingly good for the sports bar like atmosphere. I was expecting the BBQ sauce to be mostly high-fructose corn syrup but it wasn't. Service wasn't the best but the waitress was new. I would go again.

Hearing other people talk about Rock Bottoms in different cities left me with some optimism that this would be a place I would want to frequent. I can tell you that I will be back for the beer, but many other things were just plain lacking. Maybe the "newness" hasn't worn off and the kitchen/wait staff are still finding their stride? If that is the case, I hope they find it fast. Located at 11th and Harney, parking is at a premium. There is street parking if you luck out, or you have the parking garage just up the street (for a fee.) The restaurant itself is good size however, with the bar taking up a good portion of the room, seating can be at a premium (that is once you get seated.) A big issue during my visit was the amount of people that were waiting for seats. I have no problem with the amount of people if there is actually a place to put them. The waiting area can hold about 8. The rest are left to hope for a bar seat or just mill around the tables up front (which would be very annoying for those who are seated there.) When we did get seated (call ahead seating available...) I found the chairs to be comfy over the long haul. In my book that is a good thing. It makes you want to hang out (good and bad for the restaurant/waiting customers.) We were seated "on the fly" and were left without silverware or menus. Those arrived 5 min later. We ordered our beer and an appetizer at the same time. Appetizer came out before the beer. Whoops. The Nacho appetizer was more than enough to give 7-8 people a nice plate before their meal. The beer was surprisingly good. I say surprising because they don't actually brew the beer on site. It is shipped in from another location that has a brewery. Between the group of 8, we tried all of the beers. Honestly, every single beer (including the apricot wheat (not a fan of wheat or fruit beers)) was good. It wasn't until after the appetizer arrived that our beers showed up. Only then did we get a chance to order our food. Our fault, maybe? At our table - [3 orders Chicken Mac N Cheese - Comments: Where is the chicken? Wow... that has a lot of pepper.] [2 orders of Fish and Chips - Comments: Brewery Slaw - just OK. Apples a nice touch, but for being advertised as "Brewery Slaw" it could have been prepackaged with apples added. ] [10 oz Prime Rib - Comments: One of the best values on the menu. White cheddar mashed potatoes: Blah. You sure there is cheddar in there? Veggies - Blah as well. Prime rib was good especially with the creamy Dijon horseradish sauce.] Buffalo wings: Good and average. Spicy enough to get a bead of sweat going. When you think wings, you think of these. Pork Chop: The only thing that was truly liked at the table. I am going to end with the "review sandwich." Start with the Good Move on to the not so good Then end with another Good. Good: Beer: Surprisingly good. Every style offered I would have been happy to take home. Hops fan? Go with the Hop Bomb.... Wow. Not so Good: Cold food. We had to send several dishes back to be warmed (yes... there were several large parties, but that shouldn't be an excuse for food that sat under the heat lamps.) Appetizer came out before beer.... Asked for a lemon for my water. Waiter brought it over in his palm. Yum. Seasoning was off on quite a few dishes. It was almost like the lid wasn't on the pepper.... 8:30, Friday night, bathrooms in shambles. No TP, garbage over flowing, etc... Plus... what is the deal with the sinks that look like urinals? Only 4 non-burger sandwiches on the whole menu? Seems like there may be some room to expand. Good: A nice place to go with a group. Be sure to call ahead and make reservations for one of the "tap" tables. Two beers on tap at your own table? Love it! This is usually the point where I give out tips. I think I have rambled on long enough. Just go back and you will find the good stuff! Going back? Yes, but maybe just for the beer. I will be hesitant to try the food (or the table service) until they have had some more "practice." Three stars only because the beer saved it from less. Cheers!

Nice atmosphere. One of the quieter bars downtown on a Friday night. Good beers and bar food. Worth a stop.

The place's name is Rock Bottom Brewery. It's about the beer. Food - it looks good, but the New York Strip I ordered had zip for seasoning. It was cooked properly, but could have been better. No fillet on the menu? Nope. Rib Eye! Yikes! The Cesar salad was okay - I must have missed the anchovies, and there was no fresh ground pepper. If you love sports, try to sit around the bar - it is wrapped with big screen TVs that are covering every sport channel (I think they even had ESPN 8 - the Ocho! for you Dodgeball fans out there). The service was solid - the food came out fast and hot. This place screams "I wanna be a chain restaurant, just like Applebees, but with Custom Beer!!" loud and clear. If you're looking for a good steak, well, you can find better places in Omaha. If you are looking for a place that has lots of beers, well, I think this would be for you. Me, I'm in it for the food.

Not much to say on this one. Dinner with family plus some last night. Server and hostess were very good. Strong Jack and Coke, nice. Food was about as average as it gets. Seems like typical chain...Meh, whatever. Sorry to say it b/c the help was very polite and right on the spot. I could easily never eat here again and not miss it. Not totally opposed to chain restaurants...but their food better be great to keep my interest.

We are big fans of Rock Bottom Brewery. Having tried them in Denver, Omaha, Chicago, and Milwaukee, I have found the food and beer to be reliably good and satisfying. We enjoyed the Omaha restaurant so much we ended up eating dinner here both nights that we were visiting. The highlight was the Kölsch they had on tap this summer. A light and flavorful beer that is perfect for hot weather. We had the Shepard's Pie, Chicken Fried Chicken, and Pepperoni Pizza the first night and were all very happy with our choices. On the second night we enjoyed the Southwestern Shrimp & Chicken, Macaroni & Cheese, and a cheeseburger. We liked the ambiance, the food, and we loved the beer. Good choice for downtown Omaha.

I've been to Rock Bottom twice and enjoyed the experience both times. I had the Patty Melt the first time and it was awesome! They throw the burger into a sliced bun and place some onion strings on top. It may be one of the best that I've had. The fries were also very good. They were thinly cut and crunchy - just the way I like 'em. I also had a couple of glasses of the season ale which was Apricot. I actually enjoyed it very much. It's right up there with Nebraska Brewing Company. The second trip I had the nachos and the same beer. The nachos were good but not great. The atmosphere is pretty upbeat and fun. I will definitely be going back.

Been to Rock bottom a couple times now and haven't been disappointed yet. The beer (on-site brews) are great and the cocktails are delish. You MUST try 'The Derby' it may sound overwhelming on the menu...lots of different flavors...but they pair so nicely and make a fantastic drink. Another good one is the Stormy Bottom Punch...a bit like a long island but better. The first time I was there I had the salmon. It was so tasty. Perfectly prepared with a bed of rice and some veggies. I left me ful but not stuffed. And ad a peanut butter dessert thing to that and it was a great meal. The second time we sat at the bar with some friends and I got the nachos. I will not be doing that again. For two reasons, but mostly because they are like 1200-1500 calories a plate. WOWZER. They were alright and the guac was great but seriously people, learn to put cheese on you nachos. Who has ever heard of nachos without cheese??? The piddly amount of cheese was such a disappointment that even with the extra meat (i ordered beef, they gave me chicken, so I got both) that it really took away my enthusiam. My husband ordered a flat bread the first night (not so great...too much oil) and the prime rib the second (was really good). The drinks are typical Omaha range ($8 for a cocktail, $4 or so for a beer) and the food decently priced. Our meals came out around $60 -$70 but that was with 2 or so drinks each and dessert. you could easily eat here for $30-$40 bucks. All-in-all a good restaurant to go with friends or family and enjoy some good food and drink.

Dont come for happy hour too late, or you'll get ignored. Also if you show up during happy hour you can't order menu food only"happy hour food" which is not that good. We sat while the bartender and manager did inventor of the bar and ignored us for 10 minutes. Yeah I timed them before my fiance got up, went around the bar to grab their attention.

Went on a Thursday afternoon with some girlfriends at about 2:30pm and we waited about 5-7minutes to be seated. Through out our whole time there we had two different people helping us, which was a little confusing. Food was goo but a little over priced, along with the drinks.

Good beer, OK food, horrible service. Our last visit there was probably our last due to the service. Service was acceptable on the first visit but totally unacceptable last time. Had to flag down our waitress 2-3 times plus our order was wrong, she didn't even attempt to make it up to us. There are plenty of good restuarants with much better management in Omaha.

Gave this place a few chances, poor service every time. Ordered carryout, no napkins or utensils, and took way too long to get it. Last time, I dined in for lunch, ordered their lunch club, and got a dinky half sandwich with fries. Its off my list in Omaha.

Went here for lunch and had the Salmon burger and my friend got an Italian style burger (I think that's what it was called). Both of the burgers were really good. The service was great and our lemonades were always promptly filled. The total bill was $25 which isn't bad at all.

For an old market restaurant this wasn't bad. Nice bar area and patio. Food was right for price.
