I will never not give this restaurant less than 4 stars because it won us over a long time ago... However, based on tonight alone I would've only given it two stars. If you go for Omaha Restaurant Week DO NOT order the steak!!! Granted it's a sirloin, it was on the menu as "Waygu beef" which the definition is " the meat from Waygu cattle known for its quality and demands a high price..," so regardless if it was a sirloin it should've been an amazing cut but it was absolutely awful!! We could barely cut it with a steak knife and it was very gristley and inedible. We both ordered medium but moms was almost all brown and mine was so bloody my plate was bloody. Our waiter was, as usual, AWESOME !!! The service here is the best around!! He tried to tell us the things to order on the restaurant week menu were either the Osso Bucco or the lamb ribs but we weren't adventurous enough and we regretted it so , please, take our word for it if not your servers... Get anything but the steak!!! Our appetizer was our favorite part!! Definitely check out the lobster hush puppies and the charred carrots !! Tons of lobster in the hush puppies and the charred carrots were unique and delicious!! Our Key lime pie was also a huge piece and very delicious! While our server steered us another direction, we've had so much amazing food here we didn't think it was possible to go wrong but this steak shouldn't even be an offering. It doesn't represent them well at all!!!

Probably the best meal I had in Omaha yet. Ordered chillaquiles on the brunch menu. More crunchy than traditional style but full of flavor. Excellent service, even good with our kids. Looking to back soon.

Ohhhhhh, I could really, really like Railcar. Although located in a random strip mall just south of Blondo on 144th, you step inside and feel like you're NOT in said strip mall (especially with the evening mood lightening that kicked in around 5 p.m. or so). Sunday afternoon meetup with friends who were in town for the holidays. 1/2 price wine Sundays...HH menu at the bar...could a girl and her friends get any luckier?! Three-plus hours spent in a cozy little nook in the bar area consuming two bottles of wine, the short rib flat bread ($6 HH), charcuterie plate ($6 HH) and order of fries ($6 not HH). The flat bread was the clear winner of the evening (who doesn't love short rib on anything??). The onion jam and housemade pickles on the charcuterie tray were also clear winners. While the meat and cheese selection was quite nice, I'm not a cracker fan (unless it's crushed up in my chili) so did wish for a bit of bread to go with that jam. And fries...well, obvi a perfect pairing with a bottle of Malbec! Service was good, albeit a bit slow because the bartender tended the bar and the area tables. Prices were good, but a given since it was happy hour. Going back with another group of friends this weekend to give non-HH menu items a try to get a better sense of the culinary possibilities. Stay tuned...

I ended up going to Railcar twice in the same week. The first time a friend and I met for lunch and this was a good 1/2 way spot that I'd been meaning to try. I liked it so much I brought the family back a few days later. For lunch I had the twofer special with the short rib flatbread and corn chowder. The flatbread was the winner here, the chowder was okay but could have used a hit more spice. Great deal under $10 for lunch. My friend had the steak salad which was huge and delicious. When I went back for supper my family had the vegetarian burger (one of two vegetarian main dishes), the london broil, the prime rib, and the cherry ribs (clearly only one of us is a vegetarian!) Plus the lobster hush puppies and carrot tops for apps. The only vegetarian appetizer is hummus but the waitress suggested the carrot tops and they hold the lardon. Leaving out what is essentially fancy bacon seems likes a food crime, but we gave it a try. This is not an app I would have tried without the waitress suggestion and the vegetarian along but am so glad we did - these were delicious! Unique spice and cooked perfectly tender. Will be having them again. The lobster hush puppies were solid, not too heavy and good flavor. And it is served with a side of guacamole which those at the table that like guac raved about (I tend to skip food that is green and mushy - yuck.) The vegetarian burger was great. A different take on this, not just the standard black bean burger but a mix of garbanzo beans, mushroom, onions, etc. that they make in house. So often the veggie option seems to be an afterthought but here it was clear it had the same eye to quality and flavor as the rest of the menu. My foodie/picky eater/vegetarian daughter really liked it. All of the meat options were wonderful. The only thing wrong with the London broil is that my husband liked it so much that he ate it all before I could steal a bite. It was perfectly cooked medium rare. My son's cherry ribs had a nice crunch on the outside and the cherry adds a nice flavor. My prime rib was delicious. I personally didn't like the presentation of the meat on top of the mashed potatoes, but I don't like it when my au jus gets all over the rest of my meal. That said, the mashed potatoes were good with the skins included. We also tried the sangria and punch mixed drinks - both were winners. And the pretzel bread! Next time we are looking forward to trying the cronut sundae, because we will definitely be back!

We were looking for a place to meet our daughter in west Omaha & found the Railcar on the Passport Dining Directory & on Yelp... Reviews looked good & we were NOT disappointed. Showed up without reservations at 1PM on a Sunday for their brunch. Menus was limited but adequate & most items ran $10-$12. My daughter had an open-faced flatbread sandwich that came served on a bread-board ... Looked great. My wife had a club sandwich on wholewheat bread with a fruit cup. Fruit was fresh strawberries & 1/3 of a medium apple in chunks. I had an egg dish they adjusted for my dietary needs without a hitch. Great service, fast & excellent food! Total was $50 with a $10 tip & 3-coffees ($2.60@) We will be back! We will be back!

Cherry ribs are still top notch! The lobster hush puppies are OK, I thought they would be better. I tried the chicken and goat sandwich which was pretty good. For dessert my friend had a pecan-raspberry-something and another cookie, seriously it had like 7 names in the title. It was good but very very sweet . Decor is still really nice and the staff is super nice. Railcar continues to rank high in my list!

We tried Railcar for the first time tonight, mainly because we had a free appetizer coupon on yelp. The restaurant is located in a strip mall - a bit unassuming from the outside. We almost left and I'm glad we didn't. We walked in and were immediately faced with a sign: right for the bar or left to the hostess. The delicious smells wafting through the air made that an easy choice. The hostess that greeted us was pleasant and seemed genuinely happy we were there. A nice change of pace from some of the other places we've been to recently. It was a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was maybe 30% full. We were greeted by our waitress immediately and she too was smiling and pleasant. She explained the wine menu, July special menu and the regular menu. A little to many menus...but whatever. I was to hungry to care much. Water was brought out, we ordered our wine and appetizer while we looked over the menu. With our free appetizer coupon, we chose the CAST IRON SHRIMP AU GRATIN for $11. This came out as a dip/bruschetta topping - piping hot and with four crusty, buttered slices of bread. The au gratin is made with white wine, roasted garlic, red pepper and asiago cheese, topped with corn kernels. It was quite tasty and every bit was scooped up. Next the waitress brought out the bread - not a usual loaf either. A hot pretzel loaf with butter. A wonderful change up to the normal bread and butter. That went down quickly while we sipped on some wine and waited for our meals. We were next served our starters: a gluten free mixed green salad with garlic vinaigrette for me and the jalapeño corn chowder for my friend. The salad was delicious and the dressing wasn't as garlicky as I had worried about. There was a little to much dressing overall and next time I would order it on the side. More corn as a topping on the salad as well. The jalapeño corn chowder was sweet and good but with very little bite. The waitress explained they remove the seeds to take out most of the heat. I would like to have the flavor with a bit more of the jalapeño heat - a nice chowder overall but we wouldn't have ordered it if we knew it wasn't going to be spicy. Next came the entrees. I ordered from the July specials menu and had the London Broil steak ($25). It came as ordered (medium rare) with a large portion of buttery smashed potatoes. They forgot the grilled asparagus but quickly caught their mistake before I even noticed. The flavor of the steak was wonderful. The sauce was tasty but there was to much of it. I would have liked about a quarter of it so it didn't drown out the flavor of the steak. Overall a great dish that I would order again with small modifications. I was to full to finish and about half came home with me. My friend ordered from the regular menu: the GRILLED VERLASSO SALMON (Gluten free). The salmon was moist and flavorful and the pinot noir vinaigrette was a nice fruity compliment to the salmon. It came with tender grilled asparagus for $21. We were to full to try dessert but I'm not sure they have it. I didn't see it on the menu and the waitress didn't offer. Overall we had a wonderful dinning experience and I would recommend giving this place a try. Especially with the free appetizer coupon :)

My husband and I went here for dinner on a Friday night and were very impressed! This was one of the best dining experiences we have had in Omaha in a long time. The restaurant is set in a strip mall and the outside is completely deceiving of the dining experience that awaits you. The service at this place is impeccable. We were greeted by the hostess immediately upon entering and she quickly found our reservation and passed us off to an extremely polite young gentlemen who guided us to our table, presented us with menus, and told us our server would be with us shortly. Within a minute our waitress greeted us, explained the menu (including their extensive specials), and left to grab us waters. Our waitress was awesome! She was so friendly and informative the entire time. To start off, I ordered the Honey Crisp Apple Sangria (unoaked chardonnay, local honey, peach liqueur, white brandy, orange, lemon, lime, cinnamon and ginger) and my husband ordered the cider beer. He just got a pint, but they do offer growlers which is 2 1/2 beers (a very cool option!). The sangria was awesome and I want to try to replicate this recipe at home! Our waitress said they soak the chardonnay in fruit overnight every night. For an appetizer we ordered the Sweet Potato Tots and I ordered a cup of the Jalapeño Corn Chowder. The Sweet Potato Tots weren't really "tots," but they were awesome! They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and had an awesome flavor. They were served in a small cup on a platter that was drizzled with aioli sauce for dipping. The Jalapeño Corn Chowder was also delicious! It wasn't too hot, but had a nice low heat and was super cheesy. For my entree I went with the B&O Maryland Crab Cakes (real lump crab, blue crab, fresh corn, red pepper, scallion, fresh lemon, stone ground mustard aioli, and grilled asparagus) and my husband ordered the Filet Mignon with a side of the corn on the cob. The Crab Cakes were served with the asparagus spears on top. They had huge chunks of crab and the perfect amount of the other ingredients to create an awesome flavor. The mustard aioli added an awesome flavor without overpowering the flavor of the crab cakes. My husband loved his filet mignon, which was perfectly cooked. It is served with bone marrow, which we tried and decided it wasn't our "thing." Our waitress explained the concept of how it adds a buttery charred flavor that many people enjoy. The corn on the cob was incredible! In addition to the standard butter and spices, it was also coated in ground parsley, which added the most amazing flavor to it. Everything we had here, from the drinks to the sides, was delicious. Price-wise, this place is on the higher side for Omaha (entrees are $20 - $45), but for two alcoholic drinks, an appetizer, two entrees, a cup of soup, and a side, our bill came to around $85, which is extremely reasonable considering we loved everything we had here. This place is awesome and I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Love this place. Always a new menu item for me to love and the drinks are killer. Most of the time my bartender isn't the friendliest but I get that often. Still keep coming back.

A good option for dining in west Omaha. I think the happy hour menu is worth a stop after work. On the happy hour menu we ordered one each of all the flatbreads 5 or 6 total?, the roasted nuts, a cheese and meat platter, the truffle fries and the potstickers. The meat and cheese tray was quite savory. I loved the various cheeses and pickled vegetables that came with a type of prosciutto and lavosh/cracker. The roaster nuts were unique and flavorful. I also really enjoyed each of the flat breads, they were all rich in taste and texture. The garden harvest one with pesto and butternut squash was my favorite. I think the potstickers and the truffle fries were definitely a miss- the potstickers were nothing to write home about and the fries were over cooked and not at all truffley. My drink was also a miss. I ordered a Moscow Mule and found it to be quite dull. It was watery, and flavorless. Even an extra lime could not salvage the drink. Both hits and misses here. I senses that there are some inconsistencies here, but the restaurant is a good size and has cool (minimalistic trendy/rustic/very suburban vs urban) style. Its very "west O" as I believe if it were located in Dundee or Old Market it would have to step up it's game a bit in decor and menu. But for it's location, I think it does well. I gave it four stars instead of three bc I left happy and optimistic I could have a better experience at my next visit.

Ate there once... nice but nothing special. Numerous competitors do as good a job. Small so you get to know all about the people next to you as you can't help hearing their conversation. An okay place but off the path...limited parking too.

Spur of the moment decision to try this place out and enjoyed our meal thoroughly! Located in a fairly unassuming strip mall, the interior was warm with a lot of wood and a bit of a rail car inspired feel. It was a Saturday night and we were able to be seated right away which was nice (I'm surprised this place wasn't busier!). We started with the 'Pretzel Curds' as an appetizer (which by the way we're free with a Yelp Check In), they came out piping hot and were actually quite tasty. A light pretzel/salty coating on the curds, I really liked them. For the main course, I tried the Prime Rib with mashed potatoes. Brought hot, and cooked a perfect medium rare. It was delicious and the portion was big enough that I took home a nice lunch for the next day:) My wife had the Braised Short Rib Stroganoff. She loved it. Only tiny critique was she wished the gnocchi would have had a little pan fry finish to them for a little more firmness. Minor item as the dish was excellent still. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Overall it was a nice experience and would recommend!

Heard a lot about this place from friends and fellow yelpers. Since moving here from Phoenix two years ago, we've been trying to find our "go to" places. Well, we've just uncovered a new one. Unassuming little shopping center in a strip mall, missed it 100 times. Went for a brunch for our 15th wedding anniversary (thank God love is blind- or at least far sighted). Came in and we were seated at the bar- God I love Omaha. Bartenders were excellent, explained the limitless drinks and made their recommendations. My bride chose the farmers Benedict with pork belly- like you put a Farmers Market in your mouth- that fresh. I had the honey glazed chicken and waffles and I'm a Southern boy...seriously ridiculous and good. Drinks were, did I say? Ah yes, endless. Atmosphere and vibe was fantastic. Service, fantastic. Prices? We got out for under $60.00. No deductions, this place is really fun.

First of all I have to start this review by saying that I am obsessed with the pretzel rolls! They are delicious and I could eat 10 of them in one setting. We tried Railcar for the first time after it was recommended to me by a coworker. When we pulled up to the restaurant it was definitely not what we expected. The restaurant is located in a "strip mall" like setting. Don't let that fool you though because the food is delicious and the inside of the restaurant is themed like a railcar. On my first visit with my husband I had the Cubano sandwich which was absolutely delicious! The next visit I went for brunch and had the Lemon Ricotta pancakes which were really good too. The fruit was sprinkled with mint leaves which was a little detail that made it that much better. The wait staff is very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be returning again!

Cleanliness 4 Service 3 Food 4 Likelihood 3 1-5 (5 Best!) 3.5 My first visit. I VERY much liked the ease of making a reservation. I was VERY promptly greeted by a very friendly and helpful host. Great first impression. I am a large man AND find that most chairs are accommodating. The chairs where MOST uncomfortable. The server was very nice. I enjoyed her personality. Refills were a little slow, even prior to busy lunch rush. Food was tasty. Hot. Fresh. Good job. I DO recommend the Honky Tonk Burger. I feel the portion sizes (burger and fries) where a bit on the smaller size for the price consideration. Quality is very good. OVERALL: I think it is a great niche venue for that side of town (144th and Blondo) If I where out that way I would consider it. It is not a destination location for me, especially coming from Dundee.

Overall a solid American fare place in Omaha. My coworkers and I came here for lunch one day because we thought the exterior looked cool (seriously). I was glad we did. We came a bit late in the afternoon, so it was pretty empty and the waiter was attentive. We got seated quickly and just ordered entrees because we weren't that hungry. I went with the honky tonk burger, which looked a little more interesting than the standard classic burger. I thought that it was solid. The fries were nice and crispy and weren't drenched in oil. The burger itself was a little different from what I expected. The cheese was a bit weird tasting at first, but ended up complementing the meat well. My other coworkers were pretty satisfied with their meals, except for one who ordered the chicken. The waiter overheard his disappointment and actually took 7.50 off the final check to compensate for that. Wow. Great service! I'd come here again.

Good food and great service. Solid restaurant in Omaha. For apps, got the Short Ribs Flatbread ($10). The flatbread underneath is crispy but soft, the short ribs tender and flavorful topped with crunchy strips of onion? Not sure what that was but you didn't taste the onion. Great app. Per the waiter's recommendation of salads, I got the Rail Hacked salad ($12) without red onions. Yum! I was very pleasantly surprised by the presentation (looked decently fresh) and the taste of the peanut vinaigrette! It didn't taste peanuty at all but very light and tangy. Something about the dressing made it soooooo good. The grilled chicken was okay- was a little more dry with a shreddy texture. My coworker ordered the brick chicken fricassee which he didn't really like and when the waiter asked him how he liked the chicken, my coworker said "eh it was okay". The waiter suggested next time to get the chicken schnitzel and also gave a discount on his entree as well. Nice going! Other coworker's got the honkey tonk burger ($12) and the salmon & pork belly BLT ($12) and they both enjoyed them.

Quite possibly the best brunch in town! Blown away by the eggs Benedict and the lemon ricotta pancakes. They have cheap bottomless drinks as an added bonus!

Delicious! I was here with a friend on a Monday evening and ate in the bar. The wine list was very good, and our server was knowledgeable about the wines available. We had the pork belly tostadas, the cheese curds, truffle fries, and the cheese and charcuterie plate. All were extremely delicious, well prepared and as expected. Decor was nice, service was friendly and prompt and the food exceeded my expectations. I will definitely go back for appetizers again, if not a full meal.

This place. This place is probably one of the best places I have ever eaten. From the moment we walked in, to when we left, service was phenomenal. It's not very big inside, but they do have a separate bar and a private dining room. It's moderately decorated, far less than most places, but it does look very modern and classy. They have the exposed vents and pipes, metal and brick style look. They do have some train decor and pictures on the walls, but not as much as I would like for a place called the "Railcar". Anyways, on to the food. Our waiter, Zach, was awesome. Easily the best and most friendly service I have had from a waiter anywhere. He knew every special, the specifics to every meal, and was just overall helpful and a nice guy. We ordered the pork belly tostadas for an appetizer. They come four to a plate and are fried flour torillas (more like chips) with avocado, pork belly, slaw, and some kind of sauce on them. They were out of this world. I wish everything included pork belly. For our meals we ordered the flatbread and french-onion soup and I had the London Boil Flatiron. Everything got a 10/10 from me on presentation. The french-onion soup was the only let down of the meal. It wasn't your normal french-onion soup. The flatbread was good and my flatiron was amazing. I ordered it medium-rare and it comes marinated with Woodford Reserve and a wine sauce over it and the potato fingerlings. It's a little more expensive but definitely worth it for the atmosphere, food, and service. Not to mention they serve Borgata, Zipline, and Nebraska Brewing Company beers. I enjoy eating at places that support other local businesses. AND you can use PayPal to pay! How convenient is that?

Wife and I have frequented this place for several dates. We've always been please by the food and service. Low key locale is a plus. This is the kind of place you hate to see on Yelp because you want to keep it to yourself but they do such a great job that they are definitely deserving of becoming a popular restaurant.

  • Vicki S.

I've been here a few times and like the menu, which does change periodically. My date tried the pork belly and is a convert now. We will come back to try more entrees and to get more pork belly bacon. Yummy!

Elevated comfort food with good cocktails. It's good, but similar to a lot of other nice local restaurants in menu and style (Lot 2, J Coco, etc). It is a bit pricey as well, but the food is great.

The Pork Belly Tostadas will be in heaven when I die! Enough said. (Actually, Yelp says my fingers are more dexterous than this and I must continue.) So... I've been in twice now. The first was for brunch and I ordered the Lemon Ricotta Panckes. They are huge (as in plate-sized) and came with a little dish of ripe, fresh fruit. My husband ordered their pork belly Eggs Benedict which was accompanied by a salad and fresh fruit. I loved what I ordered but the husband said his was "just good," and he didn't think pork belly was the best choice for eggs benedict. (Personal preference I suppose. ) Our second visit was for happy hour. We stuffed ourselves stupid. The Rail Chips are amazing if you like bleu cheese. The Thai Flatbread and Crab Bisque are both wonderful and packed with flavor. The Cheese Curds are just ok (we're from Wisconsin and hugely judgemental when it comes to cheese curds.) The Pork Belly Tostadas though... words can't even...

A friend and I had lunch at The Railcar August 13th, as part of the Omaha World Herald Dine Around program. It was a new place for both of us, but we were impressed with our dining experience. Heather greeted us and was our server...so knowledgeable and she explained they were using a new menu that day, pointing out unique items. One thing I was happy to see was being able to order a CUP of French onion soup...many other places only serve the bowl. We opted to each enjoy the cup of soup, and then to share two entrees, the crab cakes, and the charcuterie board. Both were excellent! The crab cakes had little filler, lots of crab...served with asparagus. The charcuterie board was delightfully varied with sausage, prosciuto, cheeses, honey, caramelized onion, baguette slices with EVOO. All of the flavors were so fresh, and they complemented each other so nicely. We were too full for dessert, but the service was exceptional, the food surpassed our expectations, and this is a train we intend to board again!

Visited here for the first time a week ago after a recommendation. Was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere and our waiter was extremely helpful. We had the Cuban, which was probably one of the best I've come across in a long time, and the pretzel cheese curds. Those were fantastic, and the portion just the right size so that I didn't spoil my appetite. Salad could have been a bit larger, and the portion of vegetables on the steak special could have been more plentiful, but all were well executed.

Even though the Rail Car name is somewhat offensive to all the migrant Chinese workers that died in the 19th making of the railroads, I decided to try it out. I do not have have any Chinese relatives that worked the railroads nor am I Chinese but I did have a Chinese friend in 6th grade. Scratch that because he was kind of a dick. The food was pretty good and the soup(french onion) was also ok. The flat bread was a bit too flat for my liking. There is also too many parking spaces

I picked Railcar for my birthday dinner as the reviews of the food were mostly positive. I was apprehensive about the service though as many have stated it was terrible. We were seated immediately at a very small table near the ramp leading into the dining area. Not my first choice in seating but it was fine. What I noticed about the wait staff is that everyone seemed like they didn't want to be there. Our server was good and attentive but just seemed bored with his job. We started with the pork belly appetizer. It was very good, the apple slaw was amazing. Seemed like there should have been more pork belly though. My husband got the grilled chicken and clam pasta which was outstanding. $15 got you a very good amount of clams. I opted for the land and sea which was a flat iron steak, crab cake, and wild mushroom risotto. Each element was delicious but on the plate it didn't make sense. There was no element that brought the. three things together. Overall I would recommend this to friends. I think the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food.

Went to an early dinner here on my birthday. I was very happy with my food. Everything was delicious. I had Cast Iron Shrimp Augratin for my appetizer. Then I had a cup of French Onion Soup. For my entree I had Grass Run Farms Braised Short Rib Stroganoff. I also had a drink called Zombie Run with my dinner. My boyfriend had the Cherry Ribs, which I also tried a bite of. They were very tasty as well. Our server was very nice and helpful.

Food was excellent jambalaya and wife had the lamb ribs also very good. Our server was the best Nathan really delivered. Only negative was I sat at the bar while waiting for our table and no one acknowledged our existence. I had to ask if we could get cocktails. They were very good cocktails kudos to the bartender!

From the atmosphere to the food, everything was outstanding! I'm really impressed that Omaha even have a restaurant like this! We ordered some sangrias, dumplings, grilled salmon, crab cakes, and the thai chicken flatbread. We all loveee the food! I got the crab cakes and replaced my veggies with a side of wild mushrooms risotto. There were chunks of crab in the crab cakes and it was well season. The risotto was one of the best I've ever had. It has a slight texture to it rather than being mushy. I will definitely come back here again next time when I'm in town! The service was awesome too!

Not sure why we don't go back more often. We try to set at the bar when we go in and chat with the servers. Jared, the owner always makes an appearance and always remembers us when we walk in. Everyone is Always Very Welcoming! Normally I have the Chicken and the Goat sandwich, which I truly think is the best chicken sandwich ever. This time my husband had the Coffee Rubbed Ribeye and I had the Chopped Ribeye Churrasco. We've both had the Coffee Rubbed Ribeye before and love the flavor. I was intrigued to try the Chopped Ribeye Churrasco, which was a huge plate of Ribeye cut up and grilled with garlic and herbs. Totally out of this world! We went on Saturday and today is Wednesday and I'm still talking about it. We also tried the Charred Carrot Tops as an appetizer. Wasn't sure exactly what to expect but they were to die for. They are served with an aioli, pesto and smoked prosciutto, the presentation alone was spectacular. I so want these for my Thanksgiving Dinner! We love this place and would highly recommend.

Surprising find. Lovely dinner and nice folks. I love the large rail map too.

Since my original review I've returned to Railcar twice more. Once for brunch and another time for lunch, ordering up the burger as I'd prescribed in my other review. They really knocked brunch out of the park, I'd say. Lunch was really good, and because I haven't heard great things about dinner (and I'm rarely in this area for dinner unless I already have a planned destination) there's a good possibility I won't ever know how the later meals are here. But my suspicion is the brunch is tops. Their signature bloody Mary had a nice spice and flavor without being overwhelming... plus, fried prosciutto! Always a bonus! I decided on the chilaquiles... Which were amazing. And they even served a lemon ricotta pancake as a side item so we could try. Everybody in our party at brunch raved about their food too, and I could see this being on par with any other 'gourmet' type brunch in the city. It's not bacon and sunny-side up eggs with toast squares, but it pushes my buttons for sure.

Dinner is good, but do not go for Brunch. Went for mother's day, wanted to try something different. Husband had the Farmer's Benedict I had the Farmstead Sausage and Egg Melt. Husband did not like his at all. Neither did I. If you were supposed to eat this as a sandwich, the bread was huge, no way to put it in your mouth. Egg was overcooked. Bread on the bottom of the sandwich was too hard to cut through. The crispy baked potato had no flavor. We ordered a side of bacon, that was the best part of the meal. i do like the dinners, but will never go back for brunch. AND the 4 people at the next table, did not like any of their meals also. They sent it all back to the kitchen and left without finishing anything they ordered.

This is one of my favorite Omaha restaurants. We have eaten here three times and have had a consistently great experience. The service here is top notch. The hostesses and wait staff are personable, friendly, and knowledgeable about the food. According to other reviews, this may not have been the case in the past, but in our experiences, the staff has seemed to really enjoy working there. Of the apps and entrees we have tried, I would suggest: - Pork belly tostadas (tons of flavor packed into two bite tostadas) - Pretzel bread is AWESOME (it was overcooked one time, but still good. NBD.) - Crab cakes (some of the best I've had - large chunks of real crab meat, great seasoning) - Thai Chicken Flatbread (You get a big serving with this appetizer - good for groups. Loved the tangy sauce and the peanuts) - Asiago Chicken Schnitzel (loved the mashed potatoes, the sauce and the herb sauce on this. Chicken was crispy but juicy) - Short Rib Stroganoff (ridiculously tender meat, full of flavor, and great gnocchi) - Crab bisque (again - tons of flavor, loved the seasoning, not too creamy) - Cherry pie (tangy cherries, tons of whipped cream) - Strawberry Cronut Sundae We have also tried the Korean short ribs, which were tough. When the waitress asked how our food was, we were honest and told her they were tough, so she notified the kitchen. She came back and said that the chef said that was just the way the cut of meat was. I have had very tender short ribs here before (like in the stroganoff!) but this time, they missed the mark. At least she told the chef. We will keep coming back here and trying out more menu items. I'm excited about brunch! I also love the seasonal menu that changes each month. I also appreciate that the ingredients are all natural, organic, and local whenever possible.

For starters we had HH drinks which mostly caters to whiskey, bourbon & wine! However they're a full service bar! We shared a wedge salad that was surprisingly served with Catalina dressing! I was a fan but Paul prefers Blue Cheese dressing. We also had the Crab Cake entree-3 large crab cakes filled full of crab but still not 5* like the East Coast! We give them 4* we left happy, full & will go back! We did go back! the pork belly tostadas & cherry ribs are a new favorite!

Service is a bit slow, but the food is very good. The prices are a bit high, but the quality is there. They also have some very interesting and unique menu items. Give it a try!

Hands down the best place to eat in Omaha. If you're a foodie you will love this place. If the location was midtown or Dundee there would be a wait everyday.

Enjoyed dinner at Railcar this evening for the first time. It won't be the last. There is a wonderful selection of both beer and wine to enjoy with your meal. The flatbreads are a great way to start; I had the harvest, but they all look great. The pork chop was thick, tender, and juicy, perfectly complemented by the maple bourbon glaze. The side of Asiago mac and cheese was light and well seasoned. I added the clam bisque, which was very flavorful. Several reviews comment on the wait for food, and I understand what they describe. I guess I'd say this is a place to plan to enjoy a leisurely meal. Granted, we were a group of 12 celebrating a birthday, so we weren't in a hurry. But everyone in our party enjoyed their entrees, from salmon to crab cakes to meatloaf to cherry ribs to prime rib to schnitzel. Railcar is now on my list for a nice dinner evening out, and I'm looking forward to working my way through the menu.

We had a late afternoon Easter brunch at The Railcar yesterday. We were a party of 8. Our drinks, the wonderful Charcuterie, our meals and dessert with coffee all came out in a timely manner. We all ordered different meals and nobody was disappointed. The shortcake & apple pie a la mode were wonderful finishes to a fine meal. Service was excellent. Everyone on the staff was so nice. This is our second year of treating our friends and family to Easter Brunch at The Railcar MAK, I think it will become a tradition

One of the best restaurant experiences I've had in awhile. A little bit on the fine-dining side but plenty of reasonably priced items on the menu. The menu descriptions make the food seem a little more quirky and intimidating than it really is. The Cherry Ribs for example only had a hint of cherry and were excellent. Even down to the french fries, the selections of seasonings, herbs, and sauces that these guys use is worth the money. Overall, very good blend of atmosphere, food, and price.

Went last night with a friend and found the joint to be solid. Good variety of items and price points on dishes. (Everything from $10 flat breads to $25 entrees) I had the pot roast melt, which was tasty. I also ordered a cup of corn chowder, which I found to be a little on the bland side. My friend had the short rib flat bread, and really liked hers. The vibe is very rustic meets old time train station. I have heard great things about brunch here, and will have to come back to give it a shot.

Had dinner with my family. The food was a 3 out of 10. Scallops were rubbery. Burger was covered in some nasty cheese sauce (likely from a can). Brussel sprouts were cooked to death. All in all not a great experience. Asked to talk to the manager... Come to find out he was the owner who really needs some customer service training. Said that because we were upset about the poor service and sub-par food that we were threatening him. We even "attacked" the server who was not only unhelpful but argumentative and condescending... *pathetic* I have never been accused of being threatening when I am simply trying to help someone's business by providing them with feedback on my experience. Honestly, I wish this restaurant well... I doubt it will last - but good luck anyway...

Overall the food was really good. Pretzel bread was awesome and my son really enjoyed his meal. Ribs had good flavor but were a bit dry.

I ordered the mixed grill Shrimp& grouper the shrimp were obviously out of a can based upon how tiny they were & there were only 7 of them. The grouper was the smallest piece of fish ever. It was 2 inches by 2 inches & was-served with 4 very tiny asparagus spears. Thank heavens for the 1 pretzel roll that my husband & I split. For $24.00, I will eat elsewhere!!!!!
