LOCAL IS AWESOME Truly local in every sense, from the ingredients, to the beer. My girlfriend and I enjoyed ourselves in every way here! First of all: BEST. BURGER. EVER. That was the best burger I have ever had. And I've had a lot. I got the Local Burger, with Gouda and Bacon Jam. The perfect mix of sweet and savory, with local Nebraska beef. Just phenomenal. My girl got the beer braised pulled pork sandwich. As a Kansas Citian, I have high BBQ standards. This sandwich was right up there with KC Joes. The meat was moist and tender and just fell apart in your mouth. The beer cheese with it was phenomenal as well. We got fries on the side, perfectly cut and fried to perfection. Everything you could want in a good fry. And of course, the beer. Every beer I had was delicious, but better yet every beer I had was excellently suggested by our phenomenal waitress. She knew everything they had and every single one she suggested was delicious. The Zipline Indian Red Ale, the Brickway Hefe, and the Zipline Copper Alt. Some of the best beers I've tasted, made right here in Nebraska and served in the perfect chalice. Just great! And the atmosphere, oh the atmosphere. The staff was dressed casually to assure a great time and not an uptight one. We ate on their lovely patio with a fire pit and several tables. It was a very busy place for lunch on a Sunday, and just escalated the atmosphere. The chairs and tables were cozy to sit at. A great place to spend a few hours! All in all I loved my time at Local. It was not only delicious, but the best place we ate at all our trip. We will be back!

I always hate to be "that person" who gives a bad review, but I kinda expected better. We went there today just after happy hour started, around 3:45. The place was rather empty which you'd expect during a week day. There are a lot of TVs and trendy looking tables. Besides the guy who was obviously drunk as can be the place was quiet. We sat down and after about 5 minutes a lady came over and gave us 2 different drink menus and a happy hour menu and told me if I needed a full menu she could bring me one, then she walked off. Sigh, okay I'll wait til she comes back. Thankfully I had looked up their menu before hand, but my husband wanted to see the full thing. After a few more minutes I got my full menu and then we sat there for another 5 or so minutes wondering when she'd come back. Mind you, this place wasn't that busy, but I'm patient. We ordered their Beer Mac & Cheese ($4), a pretzel ($3 on happy hour, normally $5), and 2 of these bierock things. ($1 each, normally sold in sets of 6 for $7.50). It then took what I thought was a long amount of time to receive items I'm rather sure were pre-made, but good food is worth waiting for... right? The food comes and I'm less than impressed. The pretzel looks over cooked, the mac n cheese has a thick crust from where it had obviously sat for awhile, and the two little bread puff things looked rather gross. I pushed on and tried them anyways. The bierocks are nasty. The shamrock was under-cooked (VERY obvious when we cut it open and saw what looked like raw dough) and the beef version had no flavor. My husband had to use mustard to get them down. The pretzel (the main reason I waited all day to come here) was a big let down. Overcooked on the outside, gummy and under-cooked on the inside. honestly I'm jealous of all you folks who got a good looking pretzel. Upon the return of our server she asked us how we liked it and I honestly told her that the pretzel was gummy and she flat out asked "Oh is it still frozen?" Really...? -_- Well thanks for tell me you use frozen pretzels. She had the manager take it off our bill. The mac n cheese is VERY rich, and I don't know if it's because of this my stomach started to hurt half way through eating it or what. It's 1 hour later and honestly I'm in a lot of stomach pain, I don't know what the deal is, but I don't feel great just being honest. The noodles were dry and I really think they either microwaved it warm or it had sat under a lamp of some form for awhile. I get that it's a bar and in the middle of the day, but lets be honest. Mac n cheese isn't hard folks. So yeah I hate to be "that person", but I was not impressed. I can't even go somewhere else and enjoy dinner now because my stomach hurts. The place is cool looking, I'll give ya that, but the food and the waitress leave a lot to be wanted. I would have ordered more off the menu, but we were trying the other stuff first. I'm glad I didn't. We won't be returning.

A friend and I came and dined about 3 weeks ago because I had heard good things and we wanted to check it out. I was totally blown away! I'm a vegetarian and so I had convinced myself that I would end up eating a salad or a pasta dish at a place like this. But when our waiter told me about how different the mushroom sandwich was, I had to try it. I normally don't like mushrooms, but the waiter said he also did not like mushrooms but he liked the sandwich. And he was right- it's was really delicious! And it came with a mountain of yummy tots! We also both tried a flight of beers and utilized our waiter's expertise in choosing which to order. And he was correct again- all of his suggestions were delicious.

An easy 5 star location. The staff has had the chance to try their stuff and have some great recommendations. The beer is the main attraction here. I am a fan of the Oud Bruin which I have stated. the Sonar from Spilker is also one of my faves. The best thing about Local is the amount of choices. If you are familiar with a particular brewery they have them listed that way on one side and if you know the styles you like flip the menu over and they are listed by type. The food is also really good. A somewhat no frills Mac and Cheese hits home with a great beer cheese sauce. The beirocks are pretty small, but you get more than enough with your order. the Frots are great and the Waffle fry nachos look super tasty. I hope to see more usage of locally sourced items to complete the meal like 'Crazy Gringo' hot sauce. the music is always just about right. The TVs have something for everyone If you are visiting Omaha, stop by for some great times. If you live here, I will see you there.

Pumped to try this out. Such a disappoint, really not sure how service dropped the ball before the cooks did. Place is supposed to be "Local" I wanted to enjoy a local beer, but the servers had to clean tables before serving anything so that took a minute. Food was served.. The burger was burned .. Stop burning, serving, Sysco burgers and things would be better. Hope this spot plays out better than the last 3. JBBK..out

Local is a wonderful establishment. The main draw is the fact they have 100+ local beers available, many of them on tap. Stop by, chat up one of the very knowledgable bartenders and sip, sample and enjoy the glorious beer offerings from Nebraska and Iowa breweries. Many are seasonal small batches or one off runs, so the selection is constantly changing. Also, the food is great, naturally focusing on using locally sourced foodstuffs. The menu consists of reimagined pub grub. Yes, you can get a delicious hot dog, but with bacon jam on top. For my next visits, my eyes are set on trying the spicy Spam sandwich and the BPLT (p for pastrami!). Plenty of vegetarian options as well. If you're into craft beer and/or supporting and trying all things local, well, Local is a must try.

I was in Omaha for work and Local was right across the street. Great tap selection and the happy hour were very good as well. Definitley worth hitting up anytime your in downtown Omaha.

Service was excellent. Every question I had, they answered. Love he concept--everything made with 100% local ingredients. Quite a hefty beer selection. I had a hard time deciding on food--the whole menu looked so darn good. Eventually I decided to try the spicy spam sandwich--I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not, since I'm not the BIGGEST spam person, but I thought to myself, "Why not? When in Omaha..." So I pulled the trigger and got the spicy spam sandwich. I was skeptical. I had my doubts. But once I tasted it, my mind was seriously blown. AMAZING. Seriously a work of art. I can't wait to try making this at home. Also, I really appreciate that this place put on the game I requested (Go Chargers!) without hesitation, and on a TV that was right in front of my face. There's honestly nothing I can think of that would support me removing a statement, so this place gets all 5 from me.

Fun spot in Omaha! Great to watch a game and enjoy some craft beer. My big thing is to try a brew that's local when I'm in a different city. This is certainly the spot to get any Iowa / Nebraska local brew. They have over 60 local beers on tap. I really appreciated that the flights came with a paper with a number and name of each beer. The flight board was numbered too. Most places you forget what you ordered or the line up may be different than what the server tells you. Food was good too. I went with the house salad since I had heavier meals earlier in the day. This came with cheese curds, croutons, and barley. I also got a side of the malt vinegar tater tots too which were excellent. We were part of a large party of about 20 people but the Local was able to accommodate us very nicely. The food came out quickly and everything seemed to be accurate. My girlfriend and I also enjoyed a few games of the giant size connect four boards!

I am sooo happy this location has finally turned in to something worthwhile!! The Local is a huge upgrade! It's got a fantastic urban, industrial feel to it. They only have local beers on tap, which I support 100%, of course! Their menu is varied and reasonably priced. They have great vegetarian friendly options. I hear the crispy mushroom sandwich is excellent but haven't tried it yet; looking forward to it tho. We actually stopped in for their Sunday brunch. I can attest that their bloody marys, breakfast poutine and the breakfast sandwich are all great. I'm loving their happy hour menu. Good beer specials... ~$2 off regularly priced beers. Small HH food selection but worth checking out and decent discounts. $1 bierocks and shroomrocks! Lots of tvs. NFL network. Good service (yay!). I hope they do well and stick around!

Waited a couple of weeks after the open, and after the Garth Brooks rush to check this new place out. There is some parking in the back lot with easy access to the eatery. I like the decor, the huge Connect Four games, and I really like the "local" branding. Sat at the large bar and noticed all the taps were either Nebraska or Iowa (and the Nebraska handles had a tag hanging from them saying "Local" for those from out of state-and probably many instate). Bartender hit me up immediately and asked what kind of beer I liked. I told him and he handed me two samples right away. I chose a Zip Line IPA based off of his recommendation and the sample. I ordered a mushroom cheeseburger with "frots" (a mix of fries and tots). While waiting for the food I enjoyed looking at the walls with the names of Nebraska towns on them, and checked out the nice patio area. My food was up in a good amount of time and arrived hot in a burger basket. I dove right into the burger, and wow! Moist Brioche bun, perfectly cooked juicy medium/medium rare burger (quality meat) and the cheese! The cheese was at the perfect place when it stretches from your mouth to the burger and you have to cut it off with your finger. Kind of like what you see in commercials, but that rarely happens in real life. I didn't even put ketchup on this burger and I normally drown things in ketchup. I was so focused on this burger and enjoying it that I let the tots and fries go cold. They were still good though and not over seasoned or over thought. Just good basic fries and tots. Good atmosphere, focus on local, good beer selection, a great burger, and excellent service. Sounds like a winner to me.

I tried this place about 2 weeks ago with my companion, and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Things to note: -There is a small parking lot behind the restaurant, but I imagine it is impossible to find a space here during peak hours. -Samples of beer were ample. Right when we sat down, the friendly bartender offered to give us any sample. He also had some great opinions/information to offer when we were unsure about our selections. -Pricing is on par for local eateries. Beers will cost you $6 or so, depending on your selection. I loved how they had some of the smaller local Omaha breweries available. Sandwiches were $10-12. -Vegetarian options seemed ample and were clearly marked on the menu. I'm sure some items would be customizable for vegans. -Cool interior design with concrete floors, ropes and lighting. The inside felt like "warehouse chic." I don't even know if that's a thing. -Trivia is coming soon, Tuesdays at 7 pm, if I remember correctly (August 18 maybe?) I didn't try as much of the food as I wanted, but alas, I only have one stomach. I had a pretzel as a starter and the portabella burger with onion rings. I just have to say, the highlight of the meal really was their beer cheese sauce. I love pretzels, absolutely love them, BUT! the pretzels were merely vehicles for the fantastic sauce. I tried to see if I could upgrade my included side to the poutine for an extra charge (trying to be sneaky), but the kitchen turned down my request. I guess I'll have to try to those on another occasion. The onion rings and burger were excellent. I believe the rings might have been beer-battered. I tried a few tots, and I have to say the rings are the better choice, even with the upcharge. (Don't forget your side of ranch). The burger was a great take on the portabella burger, with the mushrooms being battered in pretzels(!). Service was fantastic while sitting at the bar, and I will definitely be back to enjoy more local beers. And possibly take a bath in their beer cheese.

My husband and I were in town to visit friends. The first night we arrived late and decided to go find something on our own. I had over heard people on the plane speak of this place and my husband enjoys craft beer so we decided to give it a shot. We were staying next to the baseball stadium so drove. The parking lot is a tad difficult if you don't know where it is. Once you find it you will never have any trouble. It isn't a large lot and I could see it filling up in the weekends. We got there at 8:30pm on a Thursday night. The place was very empty. We sat at a picnic type table by the large connect four games. It took a bit to get a server but eventually he showed up. He helped my husband pick out a beer. I ordered a local vodka and Sprite. It was a tad sweet but glad I tried it. We ordered a mushroom burger and a brat both came with tator tots. My hamburger was fine but the tots were over cooked. So over cooked I only ate two. Way too hard to eat. Overall ok experience. I don't think we would ever eat there again. Maybe we would come back for drinks. Noise level not a factor as barely anyone was there. The do have patio seating.

What a great concept! A single place with a focus on local beer and locally sourced food. Not to mention the large connect four games. When I went, the menu was limited due to the Garth Brooks concert and the beer was served in plastic cups. The service was slow due to the large number of people priming before the show. I was impressed with the beer selection even if it was a bit pricey. I had a beer from Scratchtown Brewery in Ord, NE. I also ordered a local burger with cheddar and frots (fries and tots). The food was good but not great. I suspect it will improve with a little more experience under their belts.

Great place to visit if you like beer or even if you don't. As a general rule I do not like beer. That being said, I found three beers that I would actually order. They carry local beers from Missouri, Iowa and of course Nebraska. The also carry mead and other liquor.

Went here during the college World Series as we had some time to kill. Great atmosphere, lots of beer on top; obviously local. Huge fan of porters and stouts; this place was awesome. Weren't able to try the full menu and it was event menu only during that time, but provided great appetizers. Only gripe was short staffed when we went in; even though we were there close to opening; bartender had to step away constantly to help with patio tables and such.

Tried LBPK last week on a weekend. For a sunday, the place was not crowded but the pace did pick up towards the evening/night. Our server was a young kid who looked frazzled and could barely keep up the pace. The local beer selection was excellent-all of NE/IA's beer in one place-great! The Sriracha burger was excellent as was the Fried mushroom sandwich (yes, we want to die young). I really liked this place. Our tab for 2 beers and 2 sandwiches w/tip was nearly $45. The location of the place is too far down-I'd suggest the establishment have specials on food and beers to keep the distant locals coming/trying this place. Parking was a breeze but I can see it being a nightmare during a show/festival in downtown.

When you walk into a fancy type sports bar and they are cranking, your favorite Elvis Costello tune, "Man Out of Time," you know you have found a good spot! Thanks to a tip from Omaha Elite Mike S. we found ourselves at Local! This is the ultimate spot in Omaha for trying multiple Local Nebraska Brews, and it's got a cool modern layout, lots of tv's, massive connect 4 for kids, great pub food, and they were playing killer music! I have never heard my favorite band the Olivia Tremor Control in a bar, I had to ask the bar tender about it and he directed me to another bar tender who made tonight's playlist! After we high fived and I did a R.I.P toast to Bill Doss of the Olivia Tremor Control we ate some grub! We got some Fries to start with sea salt and black pepper, then dug into our main dishes! I got a Mushroom sandwich was quite delightful and it came with Tots which were darn good as well! They let me try multiple beers and I ended up having a couple different local pints! With all the ones I tried I forgot what I ended up drinking, but they were both awesome and got me in the right mood for my last night in Omaha! This is a must stop, if you are in the area, its a bit off of the Old Market, but was perfect for us as we were staying at the Courtyard Marriott! Would be a killer spot to hit pre or post show at the arena! They also have a nice patio as well! And non alcoholic beers if you need one of those too! Something for everyone here!

Life sized Connect Four! If that wasn't a big enough reason to go the food and literally every beer made in Nebraska should be. On my last visit my love of potatoes wouldn't let me skip over the waffle fry nachos. The actual waffle fries were super crispy and well seasoned. Thick enough to actually support the toppings and crispy enough to emulate a chip sort of crunch. The beer cheese was a great substitute for nacho cheese, having the same amount of space while having more depth of flavor. I've gotten the Peace Tree Blonde Fatale my last two visits and it hasn't disappointed yet. Love the patio and the fact that there is an option for parking in the back (still metered and normally full unfortunately).

Coming in, I was very skeptical. My wife and I have had several bad experiences at the places previously located here, so we were going in with very low expectations. That being said, they blew us away! They had several options for vegetarians, did some excellent upgrades to the layout and had a great selection of local beers and mixed drinks. I had a delicious bloody mary that was made of everything that could be locally sourced and it was delicious. I got the breakfast poutine (as we went for a sunday brunch) and my wife got the breakfast sammy. It was all very good and flavorful. Best part was, great service from the bartender (granted they weren't very busy, but still a huge upgrade from the last place in the same location). Overall I would recommend this to anyone, especially if they are fans of locally sourced, owned and operated type of business.

Solid 4 stars for a new place! The inside remains mostly unchanged from when it was 9th Street Tavern. Big open room with a large bar in the middle. There's tables along the wall and windows, a back room near the kegs with large picnic style tables, and of course the patio with the giant fire pit! Did I mention there's giant connect 4? This place has over 50 local beers on tap. However, this does not mean local as in Nebraska. I am OK with this though! Local includes outstanding breweries from Des Moines and elsewhere nearby. Local enough! They were the first to have beer on tap from several different Nebraska breweries which is awesome, as well as the ONLY place to have some stuff on tap. A+ Food menu is small but great. Some good appetizer choices and some pretty unique dinner choices. As a SPAM lover I HAD to order the SPAM sandwich. Two slabs of SPAM with melted cheese, a fried egg, and jalapenos all over it on Hawaiian bread. It was AMAZING. Super, super spicy though so watch out. My parents ordered a BLT and a burger and unfortunately were not impressed. I'll have to go back so I can form my own opinion on those items. Overall great job on the concept of a completely local place! If you love beer and want to try more stuff from your own state and nearby this is the place to go.

I would give Local 5 stars just for the concept itself. As many on here know I am a huge beer snob, so hearing that there would be over 50 Local beers on tap they immediately captured my interest. My second visit was on a Friday evening and really enjoyed the atmosphere and how they changed the place from its previous tenants. Eric and Sara came over and entertained my guest and I, sharing stories of different breweries in the area. My next visit was for a Sunday brunch (which is open till 3), and tried a flight of the previous tap takeover Kinkaider from Broken Bow. I ordered the Dad's Breakfast, and loved their hashrowns, and I love my hash browns! But their bacon was exquisite. I couldn't find out where it as from, but it was perfectly cured and seasoned. I will go back just for the bacon itself (and, of course, the beer). Sara also came over and chatted for a while... She is such a peach!

I came on a Monday evening, so the place was somewhat empty. I initially felt overwhelmed by the large selection of beers and the large menu. I started with a chocolate double stout, which didn't pair well with my delicious spicy spam sandwich. After I expressed this to the bartender, he offered me to taste other beers till I found out the right one. This is another good example of a new wave of young entrepreneurs bringing good food to Omaha.

I think this place has a ton of potential but still has a few kinks to work out (which is to be expected as they are still pretty new). I went on a Sunday afternoon with a friend to eat and have a couple drinks. I really enjoy the decorations and the set up. They have a really nice patio with a good view of the downtown area. I think that having entirely local beers is an awesome concept and was impressed with the large selection they had. This was tempered a little bit when I was told that they were out of the first two beers I tried to order. Luckily they had my third choice and it was very good. Since it was Sunday afternoon, they had their brunch menu. I wasn't super hungry, so I just ordered a single pancake with their maple bourbon syrup and a side of fruit. My friend ordered the Local Hash (shredded potatoes, chorizo, onion jam, gooseberry gastrique, with a fried egg) and the Breakfast Poutine (fries, bacon, cheese curds, hollandaise sauce, green onion, and a fried egg) at which point the waitress told us they were out of fries, but could replace them with tots. This was a perfectly acceptable (and delicious) substitution, but at this point we were raising our eyebrows at the fact that they seemed to be out of quite a few items. This was at the end of a weekend with two festivals downtown, though, so it is possible that with being new they are still trying to figure out demand. About 15 minutes later, two other friends unexpectedly joined us and also ordered food. About 15 minutes after they ordered, the newcomers' food came out, but my original companion's and mine was nowhere to be found. It was another 5 minutes before our food came out, which was odd considering we had ordered 15 minutes before them, and my order was pretty far from being complicated. Also, we had planned to order a second drink, but our waitress went MIA after our food came until we were finished eating. The pancake was a pretty average pancake, but the syrup had a nice flavor. The side of fruit contained a nice selection of good quality fruit. I tried my friend's Poutine and it was pretty good. One of our friends ordered the Chilaquiles, which was supposed to be topped with Chorizo but wasn't. She also said the tortilla chips were pretty soggy. We all agreed the food was good, but needed some work on the presentation to make it great. I will probably wait a few months and give this place another try after they have some time to address some of their issues. They have an awesome beer selection and their menu has many interesting items on it that I would love to try.
After a few visits to Local, I have found it to be a lot better than the previous tenant in terms of food, ambiance, and vibe. The theory of dining here is cool- Local beers and sourced foods when possible, and a variety of ways to dine (by this I mean sitting at the bar, the high top tables, picnic benches, regular tables, or outdoor patio- gorgeous patio by the way). It gives you a different perspective each time you come in. I personally have chosen the picnic tables and the patio and bar as my choices so far. There is also a large party room off the to side that can host bigger parties or events-keep that in mind for your next birthday party or work event. Parking is hidden if you're creeping up (north or south) on 10th, its actually behind the building and can only be accessed using Capitol Ave. Curse Omaha and it's one way streets. Don't be surprised if you have to circle the block to get yourself pointed in the right direction. It's metered parking but free after 6pm! Service here on all occasions has been great. The staff was able to answer all questions about the menu and the different beers, even if they had to check which ones had run out for the day. It seems like they do run out of some beers and replace them with something else quite often because that happened each time I was there. Not too much of a big deal to me because the beer list is very extensive to start with and they replaced the ones they run out of with something else...sooooo unless that specific beer was the one you wanted, you'll be just fine with a lot of other options. There is a full bar, so beer haters will be happy too. I had a gin and tonic with the well gin, not the greatest! I will be sticking to Hendricks or Bombay in the future. Other than that, drink specials for beer range $3.5-6? during the happy hour and 3.5-5 for mixed drinks during happy hour. The food style here is "refreshed" American, so you'll get burgers and fries but also poutine and sirracha melts. The happy hour menu is pretty good for grazing and having drinks early evening-I liked the nacho waffle fries, frots [tots and fries], and the pretzels with cheese. For main courses, all the things I have tried so far are pretty good. My favorite thing so far is the sirracha melt. The only negative in all my experiences here is the picnic table area where they have the connect four. It's a fabulous concept to have that but the noise and clatter the chips make as they are released into the bucket will make your hair stand on end, or spill your drink on yourself like I did. It's not a good area to sit for people who are easily startled. I believe they are working on making that a more enjoyable experience for patrons and customers. The management is the same as Pana88 or Hiro88, so they know what they're doing. The patio is to die for in nice weather! I suggest a trip here for your summer dining and enjoy the menu and beers.

Stopped by to check this NEW place out last night. I'd give 3 1/2 stars if I could. Typically don't go to a new restaurant/bar until they've been open several weeks, but decided to check them out on their 4th day of being open. The first thing I noticed was how great the patio looked. The previous bar/grill did not do much to maintain a patio that had so much potential. Kudos to Local Beer & Patio for remodeling the patio and making it into the classy patio it always screamed to be! The inside also has had some remodeling. Still similar to the previous place, but new tables and chairs really class it up. Great selection of local beers. The GM even stopped by our table to ask what we typically drank and offered up some suggestions on beer he thought we might like. We started off with the Nebraska Beerocks for an appetizer. They came out unusually fast, and where not as hot or crusty as I had hoped. The hamburger inside while good, was a bit too chunky for me. I prefer hamburger inside these to be very finely ground. They did not come with any dipping sauce, but once we asked we were immediately brought some. For food I ordered the Sloppy Charlie. Basically a Sloppy Joe classed up! I found the roasted tomato sauce on the Charlie a tad bit too sweet for me, but I ordered it with beer cheese sauce and it was pretty tasty. My dining partner ordered a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich which I also tasted and it was very good. Super tender strips of steak and the beer cheese sauce was a good compliment. Both sandwiches came with a side of fries and tots...and a lot of them. They could almost cut down the fries/tots and still have a good sized side. We also ordered a side of mac-n-cheese to split. Again...the beer cheese sauce was delicious on the elbow macaroni! I asked what their soup of the day was, but unfortunately they have not started to have a daily soup because they had not been open long enough to have what they needed. (Again...another reason I try to wait several weeks to visit a new place!) Time will take care of some of these trivial problems. All in all we enjoyed our dinner and will certainly be back to try other items on the menu! Me thinks they will do well!

Update: Third times a charm. Came backs for a third time with friends and was highly impressed with the service and food. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. Service was super nice and accommodating and food was delicious and came up fast! We will be back again! Older Post: Very neat atmosphere. We went there opening week and waiting over 15 minutes to be waited on, then over 20 minutes for our drinks and another 45 minutes for our food to arrive. That's completely understandable, being that they were new and still working things out. Although we left not too happy, we decided to give it another try because it seemed like our kind of place. Just last week, we gave it another try and although there weren't many tables occupied we sat there again for over 15 minutes before anyone waited on us. Both times we visited, I had to go inside and find someone to and ask for a waiter, even then there was confusion on who actually had our table. The bar tender sat on his phone and texted before finally realizing someone was trying to grab his attention. Again, it took a long time for our food and we were left flagging down our waitress multiple times. although the food is good, it's not worth the 1+ hour wait. We Probably won't go back unless invited out with a group of friends to place.

Mike S. is a big fan of this place, so do check out his 5 star review. He's been there numerous times. There's just more there that he enjoys generally (e.g., beer, pretzel stuff). It's not for me, it might be for you. I had 2 things here: frots and a signature cocktail. I was under the mistaken impression that frots are some wonderful hybrid of fries and tots, but they're just a basket of fries and tots. No biggie... misunderstanding on my part. My fries were clearly old. I know this for sure because my friend who ordered frots later had fresh fries that I sampled just to make a comparison. No one wants old fries. Don't serve them. Not sure what to make of the tots. For my beverage, I went with the Scofflaw, a citrusy bourbon drink. It was tiny, but I believe it was prepared properly and with the right amount of alcohol to justify the $8 I spent on it. It saved Local from a lower rating. I don't like their wine selection, but this has no effect on my rating because it's not a wine joint.

Experienced, friendly bartenders and staff that serve local microbrewery beer and delicious food that goes above and beyond the typical heavy bar food. They have a creative menu offering waffle fry nachos and pickled shallots on the salads. Wonderful spot in downtown Omaha.

How do I spell "Yummy Yum Yum"? With an "L" because I Love your Nebraska beef burgers & wide assortment of beers! With an "O" because if in Omaha, you are the place to be! With a "C" because everything you Cook is Cooked to perfection! With an "A" because your Bacon Jam gets an A Plus times thousand! and ending with another "L" because I Love you that much... I'd kiss you again and again ...and always with a "Yummy Yum Yum"

Nice local beer selection, but that is easy to do. Don't come for the yucky food. Mostly regular ole bar food sourced from Sysco's "local" warehouse. Not much, actually nothing we could determine, made fresh in house.

Was excited to have a new Sunday Brunch spot in downtown, had a bit of a hangover so decided to check it out. Beer selection of taps was impressive and the remodel that was done really livened up the space. However remodeling the space didn't carry over to the staff and the food who seemed to be remnants of 9th street tavern. Frequent were gatherings of 6 staff members joking around the bar as my coffee remained unfilled. I ordered the chilequiles which is a favorite of mine but it was prepared more like an american nachos platter. The poutine was pretty good, recommended. There is a large scale connect 4 game which is cool in theory but really loud and startling in reality for those not playing. Will be back for beer but not brunch.

The family and I are moving to Omaha this summer and I was in town recently trying to find a place to live (we made an offer and it was accepted, so YAY!). I have been browsing the Omaha reviews the last few weeks looking for places to try while here on this house hunting trip but also when we all arrive later this summer. This place popped onto the radar after reading some positive reviews and seeing some pictures posted by fellow Yelpers. So, I stopped in on a recent evening to check it out. The location itself is off of 9th and Dodge, which is not all that easy to get to for someone not familiar with the downtown streets. Dodge is one way going west downtown, so getting to it off of 10th requires knowing this. I didn't, being a newbie. But, if you take the next street north of Dodge, Capitol (I think, don't quote me on that. I'm not from here yet), there are some meters and I think it swings around so you can hit Dodge. Either way, the parking situation isn't ideal but if the weather is nice, just grab a spot a few blocks away and walk over. I like the set up of the place, with plenty of TVs, a cool bar area in the middle, and seating both outside and inside depending on your preference. I sat at the bar and was greeted right away by one of the bartenders (didn't catch the name but he did a nice job). He asked me if I wanted something to drink and let me sample a few beers before deciding. I had an imperial mango IPA and a brown ale from Empyrean. Both were OK, not sure Empyrean will be my local brewer of choice, but that's just a personal preference. But, I love that the beers on tap are almost all (if not all) local, allowing those of us not familiar with these breweries to get an introduction. The menu had some nice items and I went with the sriracha patty melt, which is topped with jalapenos, bacon, and a creamy sriracha sauce. The sandwich was very good, though I would have liked a bit more of the sauce. It didn't show up much for me but I can just ask for extra next time. But, I would definitely get it again. The frots offer the best of both worlds, fries and tots, and were perfectly done. I can imagine this being a place where I spend some time once we get here. We will be living way out west but I will be working near downtown and will stop by for lunch/happy hour and maybe even Sunday brunch with the family. It's a cool place that I hope takes hold and is successful. I am definitely a fan, so I am going with four stars now but will re-visit the review once I've had a few more visits. Check it out!

This was our first time there. We went there because I got a Facebook from the Omaha Police Dept. telling of a fund raiser with all proceeds going to the Kerrie Orozco Family Fund. It is fairly large and has a nice patio area. It has more craft beers on tap than any other restaurant/ bar that I have been to in Omaha. From looking at the liquor menu, they appear to also have one of the best stocked bars in Omaha. We took seats on the Patio. The service was friendly and efficient. Our waitress checked on us a couple of time to see if the food was ok and asked whether we needed anything else. I like that degree of attention. I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich, which was ok, not the best nor the worst that I've had. It cam with Tots which I thought were very good. My wife ordered the basic LOCAL Burger. She really liked it. It also came with Tots. The is have no free parking. There is a small area in the back that holds maybe 6 to 8 cars otherwise you have to park on the street. I think if you go there on a weekend, finding a parking space might be difficult. I didn't notice if there was a parking garage near by. For me that is the only negative. We will definitely be going back there again.

I really wanted to give this place a higher review, and hopefully after future visits I will change it. This was our first time here and after reading some of the positive feedback we were looking forward to trying it. We started out with a couple beers from the expansive beer menu, although I will say that the first beer I tried to order had been "86-ed", so that was disappointing but we both enjoyed the beers we ended up with. We ordered the pretzels with beer cheese sauce as an appetizer but unfortunately they never arrived. Our burger and patty melt arrived with no sign of the pretzels and it turns out they were never entered. My burger was decent, definitely overlooked for my liking. They didn't ask how I wanted it cooked so that should have been a red flag because I prefer my burgers medium and this was well done. Overall, we will come back to give this place another shot since they're still new but for our first experience it was just okay. I will say, one of my absolute favorite things about Local is that they have postcards on all of the tables and you can fill it out and drop it in their mailbox on the way out and they mail them out once a week. I thought this was a unique and fun touch!

The only reason this place didn't get a 5: all burgers are cooked medium. Medium is slightly too well done for my taste. Other than that, the mushroom Swiss was great. Also, the staff was very nice, helpful, and attentive. Overall good experience.

Pretty good food! I love when pretzels are an appetizer option. I definitely want to come back and try some more foods here. Mac and cheese was the perfect portion. My friend had a tasty BLT. Huge local beer selection! Only thing I would change is thinning out the cheese for the pretzels. It thickened up after it cooled off and was hard to use as a dip. I will be back!

Reminds me of the Varsity in CB. Good beers, good food and service that is below par. Tator tots are delish. I had a special request and the chef said no problem. If the servers would get up to speed with the look and feel of this place it just might make it in this location.

Looking for a place with burgers and beers, and we found a gem! The burger was awesome, perfectly cooked and the add-on options were great! The bacon flavor was smokey and tasty. I had tots, and they were great! Good option to pick up all of the extras that fell out from the burger. Wife is gluten free, so burger without the bun. Still enjoyed it and asked me first if I liked my burger, because her "burger was great!" Had an IPA sampler, and the infused pineapple IPA was amazing! Had games on the wall in the back to entertain the kid. It appears that lots of people stopped by after work for a beverage. Our waitress was attentive to our needs, and the food came out fast. We will return!

(3)Patrick W.
(4)Lorie M.
Great place to visit if you like beer or even if you don't. As a general rule I do not like beer. That being said, I found three beers that I would actually order. They carry local beers from Missouri, Iowa and of course Nebraska. The also carry mead and other liquor.
(4)Eric W.

(5)Ashley Rae T.

(5)Mike D.
(4)Mark N.

(5)Moira R.

Nice atmosphere with a good beer menu. I came here with my fiancé during the CWS because we're always looking for something new with a great beer menu. Unfortunately we didn't get to try the full menu since they just had an event menu, but the frots were fantastic! The beer menu was nice because they offered more stout and porter options than the typical bar and grill. The beers all being local was also a plus! Overall we had a good experience and would go back!
