Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Very inexpensive yet very delicious. I've been eyeing this place for a year or two, and it was recommended by some of the locals, so I finally visited with a family member. A boy, perhaps 10 years old, took orders and appeared to be the only English speaker present. My empanada was tender and as close to perfection as I can imagine. I get the impression that they adapt whatever ingredients they can get at the market, so the character and quality of the food may vary a bit from visit to visit. I was a little nervous about parking there, because the immediate neighborhood is a notorious crime zone. But the parking lot is somewhat separated from the foot traffic and they've arranged the restaurant so you can watch the parking lot and keep an eye on things. If you're doing a "taco tour" of South Omaha, this place is a must-visit.

I caved to the pressure and ordered a corn cup with the rest... but suprisingly couldn't stomach the amount of cheese and specifically mayo that accompanied the canned corn. Hmm, who would've thought? The tacos were decent, but didn't really stand out compared to the others in the area. My favorite item here was definitely the churro (even the plain one was amazing since they're cooked up to order) and they also had a nice selection of frozen fruit bars. Maybe a dessert stop after eating tacos elsewhere?

This was another stop on Taco Tour II. It's a order at the counter kinda joint and the young boy working the counter was awesome. I have never seen a 10 year old kid that had everything so under control. The food was all ok, it's just that we weren't "blown away" by any of it and we had alot to compare it to that day. We ordered quite a variety here from corn cups and churros to tacos. Everything was ok and I would definitely like to go back and try some of their other offerings like Goat Stew.

Popped in for another visit tonight, decided to try carnitas and al pastor tacos. The carnitas are a revelation. Best I've had. Not kidding. Al pastor, well, about average, but the other two tacos I had were still fabulous. The wife had salad and a cheese and chorizo burrito. Burrito was quite good. All that and two big Mexican Cokes for 16 bucks. Can't beat it. Get there soon.

I thought that this was authentic Mexican food...not tex mex. VERY good. I ordered the Burritos, beans and rice. The refritos were possibly the best that I ever had. The rice was good too. I posted the picture of my place, there was a lot of food for $6, I could have split it with someone. Also, there were 2 dishes served on the side to accompany this. One was chopped lettuce w/ chopped cilantro on top of it. And the other appeared to be chopped red onion. Also, when the boy brought our food, he had two bottles. One was salsa verde and the other red. Goooood too! The canned pop is $.75 but they had tall glass bottles of pop too, don't know the cost. My son got two things. One was the Chicken Empanada.$2.50 He loved it. He added lots of the two sauces, he loves spicy. He also got the Chicken Cast Tomal (sp?)$3.00.... Super good. So, we both left stuffed for $12.75. Great place, we'll go back.
