Every time I go I think I must branch out; however, I see that wheat bread and my mouth waters. I have it sliced for sandwiches and toast. Makes THE best toast, and I know it's healthy. Like others who have commented, it's hard to believe it's a chain. Tastes totally homemade. They also make gluten-free and have a variety of breads and treats. I must try them. . .I must try them. . .I must. . .

The cinnamon chip bread is a family favorite. I always feel bad bringing in a few kids- once they've all had a sample, we've practically gotten a free loaf. But we will always be back. Last time I tried the white chocolate raspberry bread. Wow. Wish that was on the regular menu.

Why the heck haven't I come here before?! This is what I was asking myself after finally going inside. The older couple that works the front area. You can just tell how much they adore their jobs and they are some of the sweetest folks. They're also familiar looking to me because they do both farmers markets. Anyways, their Coffee + a slice for $1 drew me inside. Upon entering, the most heavenly bread smells hits your nose and you know you have found the proper place. It's like an old fashioned bakery with real loves of bread on the shelves freshly, made and being brought out. They also had cakes and giant cookies for not very much. On one wall they had pre-made baking mixes and the other they had a small seating area and a drink cooler. The older gentlemen who works there offered us tons of free samples with real butter and local honey. He proudly told us they mill their own grains fresh and you can taste it in the bread. I was joking around with him about how good the bread is, but I thought mine might be better. It was good fun! He also told us they have some of the best sandwiches in town. Sadly I was waiting on food from the Falafel shoppe down the street otherwise I would have taken him up on the offer. My husband and I ended up getting a slice of honey whole wheat (which he claims is their most popular) with a bottle of water, he said you don't have to get coffee if you didn't want to. I put copious amounts of butter and honey on top and oh I was a happy happy girl. We even went back a second time for another slice with water and I WISH I would have gotten a sandwich there, oh well, maybe next time. They also have a monthly menu that does change and I find myself wanting to return to try them all. However of all the Tuesday breads, I think the whole wheat was best, which YAY they have all week! If you HATE whole wheat bread because you think it's too dense or grainy, you need to try this one. It was soft and fluffy like white bread would be. If I was to have one complaint it would be the bread is pretty high priced. The whole wheat was $6 but the loaf looked pretty large. If I didn't already have bread at home I would have bought one. I over heard him telling another lady to save the label because once you collect 12 you get a free loaf, that's pretty cool! The shoppe is also a little hidden, it's on the Underwood street just east of 50th on the north side of the road under what I'm assuming is their home. Seriously... I want to go back again!

FInd freshly baked loaves of wholesome bread here. Buy a whole loaf or order one of many sandwich options on your choice of bread. Add a bowl of soup and finish with a sweet bakery treat. This friendly shop is tucked into the east end of the Dundee business strip. Fresh. Homemade. Local.

Great place! You can come right in and have a slice of bread for free. I believe this was reasonably priced for a place that is local and fresh. We got the onion and dill bread. We really enjoyed it. Not just a bread and butter type. We made some great sandwiches with it, too. I would definitely recommend this place for others to try out!

Great Harvest makes absolutely the best bread I've ever had that my mom didn't bake at home. ...And maybe even then. They'll be more than happy (insistent, even) to give you free slices to try -- and they're not small slices, either. The bread isn't necessarily cheap ($5-7 for most loaves), but in a bite you'll know where the money goes. Plus, it's baked fresh, so it's bound to be better for you than store-bought. I am in love with their 9 grain, but have had various breads infused with cheese and their cornbread as well, and have found each to be as good as it gets. One small caveat: although I've only had their sandwiches once, I found that the quality of the sandwich didn't match the quality of the bread. But that was, again, just once, and besides, their loaves are so good I don't mind taking them home and making my own.

The oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with walnuts are really good. They are a little on the sweet side, but still yummy!

This place is awesome. They have free slices of bread every day, plus cookies, soup, etc. Definitely check it out if possible.

Seems no one's reviewed Great Harvest in a while. As we all know, both locations have been enticing customers in off the street with their "Free Slices" sign for several years now. And I have to say when I was a starving/hungover college student living in Dundee, this place was a real lifesaver on many an occasion. You'd walk right in and they'd offer you a giant slice of their delicious bread that you could slather in butter and honey if you'd like (oh, I like). Fuel for the soul when your tank is running on empty. Over the years, as I became less of a broke-ass and I started actually buying their bread (the bakery is located at their Rockbrook location, btw). And most varieties I've tried are extra-hardy but soft to the touch from inside to crust. While it isn't exactly cheap for a loaf of bread (they start at around $5 on up), it should last you an entire week. But since it's made fresh right here in Omaha, you should definitely refrigerate it to ensure a couple extra days of freshness. Also, their sandwiches are all good. Fresh meats, cheeses, veggies, etc. served up on fresh bread. About as simple and tried-and-true of a concept in the universe, but done well nonetheless. Kudos to Great Harvest for offering a pretty decent vegetarian option as well. Now back to the free slices. On my latest visit here, the free slices were shoved off to the back of the shop, whereas before you'd walk in to see the tray of slices right next to the cash register, which were then offered to you right off the bat. This time around, I had to ask about the free slices myself, and kind of awkwardly tip-toed around other customers to get to the goods. Not sure if this was a one time deal or if they changed their policy to not push the free slices as much. No matter. If fresh, locally baked bread is something you're into, Great Harvest has something you'll love.
