Took my Whiskey loving boyfriend here and was pleasantly surprised! The decor the small plates and crafted beverages were all amazingly great. This is the whiskey equivalent of Willy Wonkas chocolate factory. Great service fun and intimate setting great date night excursion.

Returned for about the 10th time and as I have always experienced, service was way beyond expectations and we had an amazing time. Joel has done a wonderful job with this bar and continues to impress. Hands down, best bar in Omaha.

Stopped for drinks on recommendation of our customer while traveling. Great recommendation. Was with a group of guys whose eyes lit up at the sight of so much whiskey. Decor is great. Not a lot of seating but we were there early mid-week and had plenty of room to stretch out and socialize. If you have not been to Brix which many of the reviewers mention, here is the concept: High and low range whiskey's (Irish, Bourbon) are connected to automated dispensaries. You load up a Grane card with as much $ as you want, then go around to the machines, pick a spirit, insert the card, and choose your pour (.5, 1, 1.5 oz options). That's it. I had the chance to try 5-6 different scotch and bourbons in an hour. It was great. And, if you find something you really like, they have full bottles of everything they were serving and more available for sale.

Great atmosphere and staff. While the mixologist was making my cocktail , he explained the history behind its origin.

I stopped in for a drink on a weeknight and sat at the bar. The decor is very nice with lots of leather, dark wood, and prohibition-style headlines on the walls. I'm not much of a straight whiskey drinker so I passed up the dispensing machines. The drink menu has a lot of interesting vodka, gin, and tequila options, but I went with a bourbon drink so I could try something close to the whiskey theme. I don't remember the exact name but it had "hammock" in it and was made with bourbon, a banana, toasted coconut water, ground nutmeg, and a couple other ingredients I am forgetting. They put a lot of work into these drinks, even hand grinding fresh nutmeg at the end. The final product was good, and reminded me a little of eggnog (although that may have just been the nutmeg). The bartenders are talented and relatively friendly (not bad to look at, either). The drinks are pricey (mine was over $12 with tip) and a little small, but they are also all made with high quality alcohol and ingredients. They do appear to have some more affordable options on their beer list. The one really odd thing about the visit is they card you at the door. I'm not sure the reasoning behind the policy but it cheapened the experience since carding at the door is something you generally only experience at crowded bars and clubs. This is a great place if you are a whiskey lover or if you are just looking to have a nicer drink than your typical beer or mixed drink. Overall I think this is a great addition to the Midtown area.

My first trip to this 1920s-themed speakeasy yielded a very positive impression. Space-wise, it's comfortable and not too large. The glass shelves behind the bar are dramatically back-lit and artfully arranged with bottles of fine liquors (a subject I'm happily still learning). We tried the on-tap Old Fashioned and Manhattan and found them to be perfectly executed. Our waiter, Bryan, had lots of good energy and suggestions. For food, we tried only the "Rail Mix" -- a spicy hot pretzel and nut mix. Grane's good vibe and properly crafted cocktails make it a must-stop on anyone's downtown-area drinking tour.

I wavered between three and four stars but I feel three is fair at this point. The atmosphere is nice but not quite what I expected. I thought this place would be "darker" and classier than it was. They do have a nice patio if you enjoy drinking whiskey & bourbon outside. The food is where they really fall short. On paper it sounds pretty good but in reality it is just ok. We tried almost everything except dessert. The whiskey charcuterie plate was ok but nothing really lived up to the expectations. The goat cheese fondue is more like a spread. The bread plate was fine but it's just bread. The rail mix is ok but it's just a trail mix with cocoa nibs. It's all good but three us spent almost $200 for a few cocktails each and the above food items to share. Probably a better idea to just grab a drink here and eat elsewhere. The cocktails were mostly very good and of course the selection is outstanding.

What a treat! Grane has a excellent selection of whisky. Behind the bar and of course the dispensers speak for themselves.. I had a server that knew a wicked amount of information about whiskey and the dispersors. He guided me through what might be a good fit for me. He had a beard and his name was Phil I think...look him up to make your way around the dispensors a pleasure. If you know a lot about whisky he will defiantly have something to add. My date was very impressed and he "thought" he knew a lot. I had a craft cocktail also and said date had the old fashioned on tap. They were both the best we have had. Don't go hungry but the appitisers were very good. You don't have to spend a lot but you can if you're you're into that high end of whisky. Great place to be. Great place for a group or date. Kudos to the staff at Grane!

I was excited when Grane opened as I live in the same building and was pleased to have another after work relaxation locale. The interior is very nice - clean neo-rustic simplicity. My mate and I were not greeted at the door so we simply sat at the bar. After 5 minutes of sitting at a bar with only 2 other people, the bartender finally approached us. He didn't introduce himself nor was he wearing a nametag. The whole bar crew had a highbrow atmosphere...unfortunately. Neither my mate or I knew a lot about whiskey and we were disappointment that the bartenders weren't more interactive. The drinks were above average - I tried 1 single malt scotch (glenlivet - very good) and 2 signature cocktails (backyard hammock - good; the kurgan - not so good). All in all the experience was average. I will likely visit again but I do hope the service is better the next time.
(3)Beth C.
Made my second visit here today. Staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Went in the afternoon this time with not much going on, but really enjoyed and learned new things about the whiskeys I tasted. Grane Rail mix is very tasty! Would stop by just to take it to go!

I love this place. The ambience is classy and dark. Seating options include large booths and a long bar. I prefer to sit at the bar and discuss each round with the bartender, all of which make good suggestions of which whiskey to try next. They aren't the most talkative bartenders but I don't consider that bad at a whiskey bar. I go here for whiskey served neat (sometimes with a few drops of water) and not for mixed drinks. Nothing against mixed drinks, but this is the type of place that makes you want to try every bourbon listed on their menu before you would consider ordering a cocktail... I have gone three times and tried 3 different 1 ounce pours of bourbon each time - I order through the bartenders and have yet to try the whiskey dispensing machines (you can get the same whiskey and a ton of other options at the bar for the same price). For around $5-8 per ounce, the prices are reasonable given the plethora of tasting options. The manager is very nice, works hard, and even offered to track down a bottle of my new favorite bourbon that is hard to find in stores. Will return (again and again)

One of my favorite places to go for a drink in Omaha. Super classy and the staff is wonderful.

My husband and I visited twice over Thanksgiving weekend 2014 while staying at The Element. We were pleased to find a place open late in the area. We sat at the bar and Devon was awesome. He had great suggestions for drinks and experimented with cocktails the second night we visited. He was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations for a flight. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town

My boyfriend and I save up to take a trip to Omaha every once in a while, and one of his favorite places is Grane. We were able to go a couple of weeks ago and were so excited to have a break from school and work to relax and enjoy some of the night life. We don't get to do these things very often so it's always something that is very special. We went to Grane around 10 pm on Saturday, March 7th. We found a couple of open seats at the bar and sat down to enjoy a relaxing evening of chatting and sampling. It was a pretty busy night so naturally we were not expecting all of the attention to be on us, but we were also not expecting the bar tender to be so rude. We are always very pleasant customers, as both my boyfriend and I have worked in customer service and always enjoy friendly conversation with whoever is serving us when we go out. At one point we asked him what it was he was making, as he was shaking a cocktail that called for an egg white, to which he sarcastically replied "drinks", and continued about his business. At first I thought he was just trying to be funny, but I was incorrect. That attitude continued until we finally just paid and left in order to enjoy the rest of our night elsewhere. I was not able to get his name unfortunately, but his sarcastic and generally unfriendly attitude would have made for a disappointing night if it were not for the pleasant atmosphere of Grane and a wonderful lady named Monique that chatted with us and made us feel very welcome. It would have been a perfect evening if Monique had been the one bar tending and serving us. Thank you Monique for your excellent customer service. Hopefully our next experience will be much more pleasant.

Tried Grane last Friday evening. I wasn't carded at the door; must look old. ;-) The interior is eye-catching. It is much smaller inside than I imagined. Very little seating, really. It was supposed to be a nice compromise, since my companion isn't really 'into' wine; one pass around the dispensers though, and he informs me that there isn't one on tap that he would like to try. Bummer. They do have a wide variety behind the bar, though; he managed to find something there to order. I should have read the other reviews more closely; I mistakenly thought that there was a more substantial food menu. We almost didn't stay, because we were both quite hungry. Instead, we decided to try the bread plate and the charcuterie plate. In between the two, we managed to stave off the majority of our hunger pangs. They were both generous and tasty, but I wouldn't say, "a hit". Nothing to bring me back for more. I tried the cocktail with the banana flavors; small for the price, and without the nutmeg... lacking any real pleasant taste. I can't say that I will ever have a reason to return, but if a person was more of a whiskey devotee, they should certainly get more out of this establishment.

First time at Grane tonight with the hubby. Atmosphere is awesome and drink list is extensive but drinks are quite pricey. My husband got a ginger infused craft cocktail which was pretty tasty. The reason for my two stars though is our bar tender was terrible. we sat at the bar and he was not personable, did not make recommendations even though we sought them out and he kept complaining about how he just wanted to go get a cheesebeurger. We have been to a lot of craft cocktail/nice places and sit at the bar and enjoy chatting with the bartenders and getting drink recommendations (Grey Plume, Side door, Boiler Room, Crescent Moon, Infusiion, J CoCo, Dantes, On and on), that had much better service. The topper was that I asked for something non alcoholic (as had drinks elsewhere before stopping here) and he didnt recommend one single mocktail or anthing. Just said we do not have anything. but then the whole time we were there he kept mixing him self soda water and lemon simple syrup or hibiscus simple syrup. would have been a nice recommendation for me but at that point I didnt want to pay for or ask for anything from him. Probably won't be back anytime soon.

Prior to the Yelp event on Friday night, we decided to check out Grane, as they recently opened in Midtown Crossing. While we had planned on eating there, we arrived and found out that the food menu doesn't start until Monday. So, we decided to grab a bite at Brix and return afterwards for a drink. As we walked in, we were greeted immediately by several individuals working, even through it was pretty crowded. We found a small booth to sit at and were given menus. The concept is very similar to that of Brix, as there are several serve-yourself dispensary locations throughout the bar, where you can pre-load a card with cash and sample many different kinds of whisky. The price ranged from $4.00 for a half ounce pour, to well over $100 at the high-end station. The menu has hundreds of whiskys to try as well. I was overwhelmed with the selection! We opted for the Old Fashioned On Tap for each of us. I must say, it was a stellar drink! I definitely can't wait to go back and sample the food menu, which looks to be delicious. At $9/drink, the price was definitely fair. Some might say it's expensive, but I'm used to $9-$12 for a specialty cocktail at a higher-end establishment. If you like whisky, this is definitely a place to check out! They also have a nice patio, which is an added bonus. Even if you don't enjoy whisky, branch out! You might be surprised!

The bar tenders are awesome. I come in and say make me a drink and they do, and amaze me every time.
(5)Jae S.
Love the variety of whiskeys, bourbons, and scotches they carry. Whiskey sommeliers there are great!
(5)Michelle L.
One of the best bars I have been to anywhere. Ryan the bartender was top-class -- helpful. knowledgeable, and with great instincts. He kept reliably picking things he thought I would enjoy, and kept getting it absolutely right. I usually stop at one drink, but I had five! Thursday night was very quiet, which meant that our group could kick back at the bar congenially and chat. The guys in my group were more interested in the vending machines, but I found that gimmicky (unlike for wine, it doesn't improve anything IMO) -- in any case, I prefer my spirits poured by a friendly face. :) Selection is great by the standards of any bar anywhere in the world. We tried single malts from Japan and Australia, multiple Americans bourbons and ryes, tasted their house-barrelled Manhattans and Old Fashioneds on tap, compared two different amaros (Cardamaro & dell'Erborista) as well as two different 18yo Taliskers (the regular and the Storm). My favourite drink of the night was the White Negroni Ryan mixed up from Suze, Dolin Blanc, and Bluecoat, though. Perfection. If I lived near this place, I would be an alcoholic. That is all.

Grane is a one of a kind whiskey bar! In writing this review you must understand I am not much of a whiskey drinker myself but my husband would consider himself a connoisseur. He loves the fact that you can sample fancy whiskeys and bourbons without dishing out the dough to buy the whole bottle. Grane also serves a wide array of cocktails that even I enjoy. They have delicious small plates and appetizers to snack on as you sample their selection. It is a great place to go for a date night or meet a large group of friends in their cozy seating area in the back. If you enjoy whiskey it is a must stop place in Omaha!

Service: Great! Interior: The furnishings and decor are nicely done. Stamped metal ceiling tiles, dark wood and a bar that is covered in back-lit brown whiskey bottles helps to give the room a warm feel. There are several booths and couch areas large enough to accommodate small groups. It is a little bit too bright in there though. I think it works for the retail aspect as you can shop and purchase bottles in Grane; however, with the dimmer lighting it would feel more inviting and a tad less sterile Tastings: The ability to dispense and taste various whiskeys is more of a novelty than a practicality. The cheapest pull will run you about $3 an ounce, but that's for bottom shelf stuff. To get the interesting, hard to find stuff you'll be paying around $15-$100 an ounce! It's cool a couple times but there wasn't exactly a long line of people waiting to do this. Cocktails: They have a house craft cocktail program. I was a little disappointed in some of the drinks and I tasted them all. One was so bad I went back to taste it again before writing this review just to be sure it wasn't a mistake on their part. I skipped over the classic whiskey cocktails since I trust that they know how to read and properly measure a tried and true recipe. Overall the house cocktails had laundry lists of ingredients whose flavors were either not expressed or muddied. The contrived complexity led to drinks that were less interesting and often unbalanced. Underdog- The Underburg over takes this drink and it is very herbal and medicinal. Although the Apple Brandy was masked it was still an interesting cocktail if for nothing else you get to taste an uncommon ingredient. Kerry's Backyard Hammock- Nutmeg and Allspice dram are pronounced in this one. Banana and coconut-water not so much. It seems like they are adding unnecessary items here to make it seem more craft. Main Squeeze- This beer-tail had Ransom Old Tom Gin and cardamom flavors which were pronounced in IPA base. This one tasted a little light in ABV and was a little sweet with no acidity. Temple Guard- Really bad! It's got mezcal, Branca-Menta, supposedly sugar, lime juice, chipotle and beet mole. I had to try this twice to make sure that it was intentionally awful. The first time I sent it back. The second time I tried finish the whole thing to be respectful and could not finish it. I was also unsuccessful in keeping it down. I like everything in this drink. I eat beets and have Branca-Menta and mezcal in my home bar. I guess you shouldn't throw random stuff together just because you can. All in all if I would have skipped the Temple Guard on both trips my experience might have been more positive but as a cocktail enthusiast I was just a bit let down.

Great place to get a top notch education on everything whiskey. The dispensers are one-of-a-kind and always have something that is intriguing. The staff is pleasant and not overbearing. Highly recommend the Old Fashioned on Tap, a lot of orange on the delivery. Delish.
(5)Allison N.
I like this place for the craft cocktails. Snipe is delicious. However, it is an inefficient use of space and they need more craft cocktails for the non-whiskey drinker. After visiting Multanomah Whiskey Library in Portland, I was excited to see a fun craft cocktail place in Omaha.
(3)Matt V.
This place is fun, but it's just a little too expensive for me. I went with my dad and we really liked the Rail Mix, though.
(3)Trisha H.
Just went for the first time on Saturday night for my husband's birthday. The staff was so welcoming & attentive. We got there pretty early in the evening so there was a lot of staff & only a handful of customers. The bartender was super knowledgable on their whiskey selections & was able to give my husband some great direction on things he would enjoy. They also make a nice selection of craft cocktails. I saw them cutting huge blocks of ice, torching cedar for smoking a glass & several other unique things I'd never seen before. The staff always made sure our water glasses were full, even as the night went on & the place filled up. As others mentioned, food is sparse. Small appetizers like a charcuterie plate or a bread plate are the most substantial items on the menu so if you plan to come here, also plan to eat before or after. Luckily there are lots of great dining options within walking distance.
(5)Max S.
Grane has the unenviable task of teaching an entire generation that was raised drinking vodka to love whisky. They do so by having a massive collection of the stuff, coupled with tasting stations and some first-rate signature cocktails on the menu, as well as knowledgeable bartenders who share a genuine enthusiasm for whisky. My lone complaint is that their selection of Irish whiskeys is a bit lacking, but it is more than made up for in the varieties of bourbon, scotch, and rye whiskies they have on hand. They also offer amaro, the marvelously bitter Italian liqueur that has long been a favorite of adventurous drinkers, including fernet, which has started developing a cult following of near-legendary status, as it is about as bitter a drink as you are likely to find. The bar itself is mellow and stylish, with walls covered with Prohibition-era images of gangsters and drinkers, including headlines from Omaha's own storied past as a wide-open town with a crime boss, Tom Dennison.
(5)Ashley Rae T.
Love Grane and their tasting machines. I feel like I learn something new about whiskey every time I visit. The clippings from Omaha during Prohibition are a nice touch and stopping here makes the night feel just a bit "classier". Glad Midtown has this little gem.
(5)Hannah D.
People normally compose wordy reviews with artistic detail about each beverage they ordered but for Grane I choose to let it speak for its self. I could write a book about my experience tonight, from the unique decor to the sultry fondue, to the Ardbeg Supernova I sipped with building glee, but.. To you reader, I say; Born in LA, college in Portland, two years in Denver- Omaha has no idea how lucky they have it to be graced with such an establishment. Bring your best friends or your new friends and watch their jaws drop. Bottom line; I'll be back
(5)Will S.
If you love sampling various types of whiskies, craft cocktails and more, visiting Grane is a must. We recently spent an evening on the patio sipping mint juleps, Mai Tais, old fashioneds and a variety of the single malts they had on tap. Yep -- they have whisk(e)y on tap. Shut up and take all my money. The decor is dark and comfortable, playing off a prohibition theme with mugshots of mobsters on one of the walls. It kind of makes you feel like you're in Al Capone's underground lair with a speakeasy bar to entertain some guests, complete with his stash of fine spirits lining the walls. Grane also offers a few light food options (try the locally-sourced charcuterie board). Not into bourbons, ryes or Scotch? Beer and wine is also available. For a relaxing night out full of palate-pleasing flavors and adult sophistication, Grane delivers.
(5)Abhishek M.
So if you've noticed, I am a wannabe whisky/cocktail connoisseur. I had one of the most fun and engaging evenings drinking whisky, cocktails and chatting with Devon, the beverage program director at The Grane. This is such an awesome bar. Devon really knows his liquors and cocktails and is most willing to share history as tips on various spirits and cocktails. He made me 'secret' cocktail that's not on the menu and was based on my comment that I was looking for a night cap (after an Old Fashion and a Japanese Taketsuru pour). Btw, they just hit 500 bottles in the bar and as result all whisky pours are half off and my food and cocktails wee 20% off. In all my travels, this was by far the best value for money and I can't wait to be back tomorrow, literally! Although,
(5)Rachel S.
What a cool venue! I have been a fan in the past of the wine bars with the similar concept of "tasting" a variety at a variety of prices. This venue is nestled in Mid-Town Crossing between a chain mexican restaurant and a sports bar. It's swanky and also casual at the same time. You don't have to be a whisky snob or amateur to enjoy this location. They offer a variety of other craft cocktails, wine and beer. We were lucky and able to enjoy the patio seating. The indoor seating seems cozy and amble to accommodate your trip-whether it be 20 min or 2 hours. The food wasn't anything I had the opportunity to try but it does look complimentary to the cocktail options.
(4)Colleen L.
A remarkable oasis. I love having such a prime classy spot to recommend to Midtown newbies. Drinks are available beyond the perfected whisky fare - wine, unique draft beers, even more bottled beers, and liquors, cordials, and home-made syrups to mix and match with a skill and knowledge rarely observed. Pick a spot near the bar to watch the magicians in action, or cozy up with friends in one of the many leather couch nooks. The decor is tasteful and a definite nod to luxury from a bygone era. The sky high, library-ladder-requiring shelves of booze also pack on the visual appeal. Light bites are on the menu, and the goat cheese one is spectacular! Truly a unique spot with lots to offer. It will not be your cheapest option, even in pricey Midtown. If you value more than the generic light beers, and especially if you are a whisky connoisseur, this is where you need to be. Tricky story, however - crafty cocktails approached with dedication and perfection take a lot of skill, and more importantly time. It would not be wise to wander in for a speedy minute, expect instant service, and get huffy about delays. This is a place to relax. Go to enjoy your evening. Bring friends, chat, explore, imbibe, and savor. If you are in a hurry, go somewhere else. The whisky vending machines are great fun and a way to sample a variety of flavors, or just help yourself to the one you know you will love. Great concept and well enjoyed!

A lot has already been said. They have a great selection that is constantly evolving. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. Surprisingly the bottles they sell are adequately priced. They could easily mark them up and go about their way. I try to visit when I'm in Omaha, just wish I was more of a high roller!
(5)Michelle H.
Quite the place if you are a whiskey drinker; huge selection and knowledgeable staff. Love the vibe here and the outdoor patio is very nice. I've had a few of the non-whiskey drinks and those have been delicious as well.
(5)Carolyn H.
Went here on a Saturday night and was immediately drawn in by the ambience - the lighting, dark leather seating, large bar were very nice! We sat at the bar but there are other seating options for more privacy and able to accomodate larger groups. I tried two of their specialty cocktails - the Main Squeeze which had gin, grapefruit, and pale ale and Kerry's Winter Solstice which included banana puree and lime. I enjoyed both! Overall, Grane is a great place for a date or a group of friends. I'll definitely be coming back to try some of their food options!
(4)Kurt S.
Wow. Finally a 'Brix for Whiskey'. They have about 35 whiskies in their 'automated bartender machines', and so many more behind the bar, which is an amazing sight you see right when you walk in the door. They offer outdoor seating, though minimal, but a very nice touch. For the 'bartender machines', you have to preload a card up with whatever amount. I preloaded mine with $30 and went off to the races! And you can always put more money on it at any time. One of their main sells is all of their craft cocktails that they offer. They have an Old Fashioned on tap, which was just okay, but I rather have the bartenders make mine from scratch. And instead of $9, they were $6 as we checked Twitter and they recently posted the special for that day, but you have to mention that you saw a special on Twitter. Some of the prices are a tad steep for .5 ounce, 1 ounce, and 1.5 ounces pours but they have a lot of very hard to find whisky. I was finally able to try the Pappy Van Winkle 15-year whisky, which they only have one bottle of and it was $20 for a .5 ounce, which I split with my brother in law. The waitstaff was extremely nice and helpful. I spoke to a man with a beard that put all of the machines together and I asked him how many of these he has tried, and of course he says 'All of them', lol. I asked him which one is his favorite and he chose the 40-year Glenfarclas Scotch, which is $40 for a .5 ounce. That'll be one that I try for a special occasion, but its definitely on my list. My brother in law spoke to one of the managers shortly about scotch and it seemed that he didn't care that much. That might sound harsh but that's what it seemed like. My bro in law was talking to him about Glenmorangie and McCallan and the manager was just staring around the bar, probably trying to find his way out of the conversation. Earlier I asked the manager which whiskey's he's tried, and he said only a couple and that he wasn't really a whiskey drinker. As a manager at a whiskey-dedicated bar, at least lie. They have very minimal food. Some cheese and meat plates, and a goat-cheese fondue dish, which I didn't try any since I didn't want to pay $11 for an app at that time. Overall, the place is pretty awesome. A very '1920's speakeasy-esque' setting in a great part of town. Even though the prices are a tad high, even for the 'cheap' whiskies, their selection is only rivaled by the Dundee Dell. i will definitely be going back; my goal, to taste every single dang whiskey in the bar. It'll take a while, but it'll be glorious.

Hmmm...why does this place seem so familiar?! Oh right...brought to you by the folks at Brix who have replicated their wine experience to the distilled beverages category. Smaller, more intimate, and equipped with dispensing machines, the menu of spirits offers a nice set of options for folks who love them some liquor. While not a whiskey-lover myself, Grane provides a range of options so that those of us who shun the whiskey can still chill with our pals who appreciate that particular kind of liquor that manages to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up at mere mention. With the craft cocktail movement in full swing, Grane is not yet on par with some of the other establishments concocting creative prohibition-style beverages that I've visited. However, I do appreciate their gin and tonics with tonic syrup and soda and have to assume that my "miss" is somewhat related to my shunning of the whiskey category. My one annoyance is the relatively lackluster food options. If you want folks to stay and booze (or maybe you don't), I would recommend expanding the food options. It's one thing to have a beer or two on an empty stomach, but sheesh...after a few glasses of grain-based beverages, an order of french fries would sure be welcome....unless, of course, you have some sort of agreement with Turner Park so you can cross the lawn with your drink in hand to get a plate of food at the other place. Overall, nice evening, good ambiance, friendly service and decent patio area. I waffle between the 2 and 3 stars.
(3)Christine H.
Loved grane! Ambiance is outstanding- lots of exposed brick, dark brown leather and prohibition era photos along with black and whites of mobster mugshots. With over 400 whiskeys to choose from you will find something you like. In addition they have some unique beer choices (delerium) and craft cocktails. I first ordered the winter solstice which I know won some drink of the year award. It was good but one element of the drink - puréed banana did not come through for me. I then moved on to the gypsy ballad- I really enjoyed the oregano in the drink. We also ordered a charcuterie board and smoked salmon plate- both outstanding. The charcuterie board had a great selection of meats, a fig and date jam and some caramel drizzled with chocolate. Outstanding service, staff is able to point you in the direction of whiskey you may like based upon preferences. Can't wait to go back to grane!
(5)Chunk G.
I'm updating my review (and improving my rating) based on several great visits to Grane, including some wonderful tastings they've been having. I appreciate the creativity they're bringing to their cocktails as well. It's still not the place to meet new people- you're better off bringing your own friends. But I do consider it 4 stars instead of 3 now.

A 5 star experience and new Christmas tradition! What a unique place, like Brix but for the whiskey lover. The atmosphere is awesome with cozy big booths and exposed brick with all the famous gangsters mugs on the walls. The service is fantastic and the cocktails are made well. These were really good! The charcuterie and salmon plates were quite tasty and good for a small group of 5. Can't wait to return, we had a wonderful experience with our family here over the holiday.

Whiskey dispensary - 'nough said. Checked this brand new bar out on a Friday night and was truly relieved to see things done right here. First off, the bar itself is beautiful. And not just because it's 4 or 5 shelves high of nothing but whiskey. Although that does help immensely. Outdoor seating is a huge plus, although we decided to set up shop inside - mostly so we'd be as close as possible to the dispensary. I loaded a Grane card with $30 and perused the whiskey selections to decide which ones I'd try. Being able to choose between a half ounce, ounce and ounce and a half makes for a great way to sample more whiskey without running up a huge bill. Glenmorangie Nectd'or was very good but the Pappy van Winkle was my favorite. And at $20 a half ounce it better be! There isn't much left in the bottle so get there fast for a taste! Also tried a Mamie Rodgers cocktail - blended Scotch whiskey, ginger beer and lime - and was happy with my choice. A nice cold drink for a warm summer evening. Waitstaff was very friendly and attentive - kudos to the managers, too. We jumped on Twitter to follow Grane and saw a tweet that said $9 Old Fashioneds were $6 all day that day. Double-checked with the manager and he said absolutely, just tell your waiter. That helped them get 2 followers - gotta love social media specials. Wasn't thrilled that the Old Fashioneds were on tap - I understand the popularity is high but for $9 I'd want to see my bartender make it by hand, personally. I'd definitely give the nod in craft cocktails expertise and preparation to The Berry and Rye, but Grane is definitely a close second. Also, the menu shows prices for all drinks but they add tax. My cocktail was $11 but with taxes it was $12.01. I thought the added tax to be very strange - would much rather they priced it so the tax was included and I didn't have to feel strange about not having a penny on me when I paid cash for my drink. Who wants 99¢ in change?

My husband and I went here before my Zumba class at Prairie Life. We walked in and were immediately greeted by lots of friendly faces. My husband was in awe of all the whiskey. He's a huge fan and knows his stuff. He put money on a whiskey card and went around to the machines to try different things. He loved that there was a mix of high and low price point whiskeys to sample. He ended up ordering some whiskey cocktails from the bar and saving some sips for me to try when I met him after finishing up Zumba. The apricot whiskey drink was right up my alley. I love mixing whiskey with sweet tastes. I can't remember the names of the other cocktails but he loved them. He ordered a bread plate and I was in love with the salted smoked butter. There was a maple honey bread that was out of this world. Everything was delicious and I can't wait to go back when I don't have gym plans. I want to try the salad, the fondue, and have heard fabulous things about the whiskey cake.

Top of the tops. Huge selection of whiskeys delivered in style and just the right measurements. They have specials and a list of food items. They have many specialty cocktails with a bit of performance to add. Has to be one of the best places to be.

I went here with some coworkers in mid-December about 10pm on a Tuesday night. The hostess immediately stopped us when we walked in and told us that she was going to close soon, so we could have *one* drink if we wanted to. Given that we had just under two hours before closing time, we were taken aback. We asked for a couple minutes to look over their options, and she gave an exasperated sigh and walked away. It took her 15 minutes to get back to us and take our order, which she did grudgingly and with a surprising amount of lip for a group of 8 people who were being friendly. We were out of Grane by 11p. At that time, there were several other tables of people that had come in after us - all of which she was treating with a smile and good humor. The drinks were decent, so that saves me the trouble of 1-starring this place. I can't imagine returning.

Absolutely awful place. As a New Yorker, I love a good craft cocktail lounge. On a recent Thanksgiving trip to visit my sister in Omaha, NE, I visited this establishment at the recommendation of the manager of the hotel I was staying in next door (Element at Midtown Crossing). We arrived on Wednesday night around 11pm and there were litereally only about 5 people in the place. We grabbed a cozy looking booth and after about 10 minutes, the cocktail waitress finally stopped by to bring menus. Not 10 seconds after we were handed a menu she barks out (with an attitude) "are you ready to order now". We simply asked for waters and time to review the options on the menu. Another 5 minutes goes by with no waters and we decided to ditch the place. I could understand delays if the place was mobbed and shoulder to shoulder, but this place was dead (night before Thanksgiving) and the waitress had a horrible attitude. It's a shame because the interior looks nice and Omaha is starving for some decent cocktail lounges. Hopefully they get their service issues worked out.

Love this place! I frequent it as often as possible from someone who lives in NW Omaha. The staff if friendly and helpful, the bartenders knowledgable, and the GM Joel always knows how to quench a thirst. I do agree with others that the next steps would be to increase the food options and build a 2nd location in West Omaha.

great place. nice vibe. The staff here are very friendly. Make you feel at home. The bartenders have been great on multiple visits. They really listen and will mix you a drink to strike your fancy. The place is not cheap however. Music is so so. Too much country. Some one tell management that they need to play some more modern/alternative stuff.

I am not sure if Grane will keep my 3 star rating. I really think it should be closer to 2.2 due to the first minute I am in there I was asked for my ID. I thought I was a grown ass man, but maybe I look like a little boy with a full beard. Dunno. I wasn't even ordering a drink. The person behind me also got carded so I guess she was consistent. As I pulled up to the bar I noticed the Plethora of brown liquor. I know what is coming next and I don't want to be a potty mouth so I inquired about what was on tap. I smirked as soon as they said they had 'old fashioned' on tap. that is almost as awesome as champagne on tap. As I got my first sips of my old fashioned I had to shudder. Man, it was strong. Made with Wild Turkey I was impressed. If I knew more about whiskies and the like I may have loaded up a card and went crazy on the dispensable taps that were behind me. that isn't really my thing because machines can't take tips and they don't have a heavy hand. If I were an owner, I would realize they take away from the whole bar experience. I only hung around for one drink and it wasn't cheap. I found it's not really thing so I may be back, but I doubt it. I could join friends here, but otherwise I am uncomfortable under the 2 cameras that survey the bar. If your staff can't be trusted, you shouldn't have hired them. I like my public privacy when I am out and about and not hiding behind my keyboard

Kept putting off going to this place because, as a known whiskey addict, I was afraid it couldn't possibly live up to the hype. It did. The fact that this place is on my way home from work is both exciting and horrifying. Didn't try the food but had a signature rye whiskey drink that was amazing. Can't remember the name but it is on top of the list on the menu. Got my scotch card loaded up and ready to go for next time.
