When it comes to buffets, Golden Corral is a really nice buffet. Actually they're a pretty dang awesome buffet. Can you say steak? Can you say chocolate fountain? Can you say tons of quality selections. These guys really have everything to offer. Plus they have wait staff that really care, they're cleannig up tables and bringing you drink refills. As far as price, for what you get it is a great deal (did I mention steak?). When it comes to buffets in Omaha, Golden Corral is my family's #1 choice.

You pay $18 for 2 people. The obese "hostess" coughed all over her hands which transfered to the pen and ticket she handed me. Luckily my wife had hand sanitizer along. Then you try to find an open table while walking past at least 8 obese people on the way. Also this is only at 8:30am. If you like eating your pathetic food while looking at overweight women with mustaches, people drinking from gigantic mugs of pop they brought in from the gas station, men that never learned how to chew with their mouth closed, a woman who touches a waffle and set it back down with the others cause she wanted a better looking one and a guy who looks like he might be a pedophile.... then come here! I'm freaking serious. WTF is wrong with people?! Worst breakfast experience ever. My wife promised to make me a great breakfast next sunday at home. I can't wait!

Wide variety and selection on their buffet line. The management does an awesome job as I've been in here right at closing, and before they even let the staff eat or they begin to close down the buffet they always wait until we have been finished. The wait staff is very friendly all of the times I have been here which is usually on Sunday evenings or nights. Colby is the best!

Grooosss! The meat was close to being jerky, the fruit was mush, and the chocolate fountain was a lake of floaties! The entire diner was close to being inedible!

I'm not a huge fan of buffetts but Golden Corral has so many different selections of food to try that I really don't mind it. The salad bar is really nice because the have so many assortments of garnishments to add to your salad and sides to go with it also. Anything from baked potatoes, to soup, fried rice, pot roast, shrimp, spaghetti, you can order fresh a steak. And the dessert bar is full of options too, though I usually just head over to the frozen yogurt. The service is pretty good as well.

My family and I decided to go and try them out again since we haven't been to Golden Corral for years! I personally do not like buffets but Golden Corral is pretty decent; 3 stars worth..... First of all, seating was terrible. I mean good to see that they were busy and that it was packed but the tables were so close to each other, I barely had room to move. The way they pack people so close to each other in such a small place= FIRE HAZARD! The food was okay. I think the only good thing there was the steak area and the fondue station. The steak guy is probably the busiest worker in the restaurant since it seems like everyone was in line for steaks! Very good for a buffet steak! All the other food kind was not tasteful or special in anyway. Service was alright. The waitresses were so busy and forgot to refill our drinks. We had to flag her down and ask to refill our cups multiple times. Overall, Golden Corral is a good restaurant if you want to get stuffed for a cheap price! But if your claustrophobic Id stay away.

I have read some posts (especially January, 2011) from others who, in their ignorance, make crude, insulting remarks regarding the girth or looks of staff or other patrons. I am not super-sized nor am I thin, but those people's remarks were out of line. We are here to rate the RESTAURANT, not the looks of staff or other patrons. If you do not like how people look, don't go out. THAT SAID.... I lived in Omaha most of my life and recently relocated to Arizona. In my life, I've eaten at a lot of restaurants.. This is the third Golden Corral in Omaha that I know of. The first I recall was south of L on 108th & John Galt. It got shut down (from what I was told) in the late '90s, or early 2000s. The next one was 90th between Maple & Fort. It got shut down probably 8 or 9 years ago. I thought someone told me they got shut down by the health department because there was NO warning; it was open one day and the doors locked the next, and they never reopened that location. It was pretty nasty, anyway. They opened this location in a brand new building on North 72nd near Sorensen Parkway probably five years ago. It started out nice and clean, but they have (as usual) let it go WAY down hill. It's regularly filthy both in the "front" of the house (customer area) and the "back" of the house (kitchen/cleaning area). When the staff goes in to or out of the kitchen you can easily see back there and it's not appealing. The wait staff regularly handles dirty dishes and then clean dishes without washing their hands first. This location started off with an "Excellent" rating, and now regularly receive a "Standard" rating (a score of "C" on a scale of A to F) from the Douglas County Health Department (which is barely passing).. I'm no clean-o-phobe, but they need to be held to higher standards and the only way to hold them to those standards is to get the word out about places that do not handle food properly. I love a good buffet but this is a place to which I strongly recommend you not return. I know, there is a LOT of food on the "Feed Trough", as I call it, but it's quantity over quality. So many chemicals in pretty much everything -- especially MSG, which gives a lot of people migraines). The steaks on the grill are so loaded with meat tenderizer that you can't even taste the beef.. So frequently, the scrambled eggs, sausages, hash browns, biscuits, and gravy have been sitting in the "hot box" (the unit that keeps food above 160 until it's ready to go out on the line for the patrons to consume) so long that it's so badly overcooked it's inedible. There is food on the floor for extended periods in most of the seating areas. Tables are just wiped down with a damp cloth with nothing other than water (you can smell the stale water left behind on the table). On a positive note, I agree with several other raters who state the staff is friendly. I rarely ever had someone who was not at least cordial, albeit massively overworked and under compensated by patrons. There is also very plentiful parking. About the only time I ever had trouble finding a spot was on Veteran's Day when they were packed shoulder-to-shoulder feeding the Veterans, something I deeply commend G.C. Corporate for doing.. If you want a much better steak on a buffet, I would say the "USA Steak Buffet" in Council Bluffs or Fremont are better (albeit only marginally). I do not have access to the health department lists for those counties so am only guessing. Keep an eye on the Douglas County Health Department's restaurant rating list for EVERY restaurant you frequent, and if their rating is low, call and inform them that, because their rating is low, you won't be coming in until it comes back up. The list from June is at douglascountyhealth.com/… although I am not sure how long until that specific file gets updated to the new one. You can look up the rating for every place in Douglas County that serves food.. If that link goes bad, go to douglascountyhealth.com/… and click on the Restaurant Ratings List link at the top of the page. Jim

Seems Sunday Brunch is an excuse to jack up the price without doing anything special for it. Powdered scrambled eggs, meh. No omelet station? Granted, there is lots to choose from. Some of it not too bad, some not so good (bland pizza, seriously greasy fried chicken a bit under-cooked), and no real stand outs. At a buffet, I expect the cheapest cut of steak, over-seasoned and tenderized, who knows how. First two bites were surprisingly acceptable. Unfortunately, the guy on the grill gave me an extremely rare rather than the medium rare I requested. The chicken was too greasy to finish. Moist is one thing, feeling like the next bite is going to be bloody another. Basically my appetite was ruined. So $12 for scrambled eggs, soggy hash-browns, some mushrooms and dessert (Grabbed a piece of frozen carrot cake to end on a better note). My friend and I both left disappointed. Perhaps someday I'll take him to the USA Steak Buffet (in Fremont) where they do it right. This was my last visit to the not so Golden Corral.
