Another wonderful dining experience at Firebirds last night! My group of four only had to wait 20 minutes to be seated (in H-Town it would have been 45 minutes to an hour), so we were happy! We started off with all our favorite appetizer, their yummy coconut shrimp! They brought it to us right after we received our drinks and it was beautifully display and served with a fabulous mango habanero sauce! HL and I split their French dip and they graciously brought each of us our halves on two plates along with hot fries and our own cole slaw as well as our own warm Au jus for dipping and our own small containers of creamy horseradish too. I am watching my carb intake, so I ate mine sans bread, plus since I gave my rents my fries, I added sautéed fresh spinach in olive oil, which they custom made for me. Paulette and Henry split the Shrimp and Strawberry Salad! Their split portions were huge! I tasted their salad and it was delicious! It had matchstick apples which was a lovely surprise and the salad dressing was amazing!!! Paulette said she so thoroughly enjoyed this salad she will order it again next time she fines here. Our food was brought to us on a timely bases and super hot too! Our beverages were refilled often, even Paulette's hot water for her hot tea! Our waiter checked on us several times to see if everything was fine and if we needed anything else! We obviously did not need any to go boxes as we did not leave a morsel since it was all so good! Next time I am in Omaha, Firebirds, is my "to go to place" for lunch and dinner! What a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience we all had at Firebirds last night!

I ordered a Blood Orange Negroni which the bartender warned was very strong (more accurately he skeptically asked if I liked strong drinks, because 5'3 140lb women can't possibly want strong drinks. Insert side eye). This signature drink was a seasonal selection, so the blood orange liqueur was a great addition to this negroni (pretend we are in California). I'm more of a whiskey/bourbon girl but this drink slightly converted my stance on gin. Would have liked a touch more Aperol but overall, a great choice. Also ordered the pretzels and Samuel Adams beer cheese. I'm not crazy about pretzels in general but I love beer cheese. This particular dish inspired the opposite feelings. I really liked how soft these pretzels were and they were a good size. They also weren't drowned in salt. I didn't really like the beer cheese, it gave me a weird aftertaste.

I like their Mac and cheese but their burgers aren't very good. The prime rib is great, though!
(3)Shannon S.
OMG the food here is absolutely awesome!! I order the Colorado salad and the quesadillia. The salad was huge so I only could eat half. I took a few bites of the quesadillia and it was to die for. I'm definitely making a trip back to this spot!!

1. Crab Cake Very appetizing, the mango custard was a little bit too sweet, but the garnish salad was gorgeous, best I have ever had in Omaha so far. 2. Sesame Encrusted Salmon***** The crust was crispy and perfectly seasoned, the tomato chunks added some acid to the salmon; the spinach was AMAZING, so thin, so crispy, not greasy at all, it almost tasted like seaweed, two thumbs up! 3. Bleu Cheese Filet The filet was deeply absorbed with mushroom... 4. Big Daddy Chocolate Cake Mmmm...WowJ9jksjdlfurp24ohmygod33hkhdf!@##$&***$%#Â$^!#$#~~~foogasm. A typical God's plan... We wanted to go to Red Lobsters, but we were too starving to wait for 40 minutes to get a seat... so we took a shot at Firebirds and... we likey! By the way, it's always nice to hear the waiter say something like "for the lady... for the gentleman..." What a perfect lunch for Valentine!

I know it's a chain but this is one of our go to places. Consistent, friendly, efficient and good food at a good price. Crab cakes are better than usual, not slot of filler. Steaks are great off the grill and the ambience is nice. Go there for cocktail hour too as they have great specials. Outdoor patio is great as well.

Haven't been here for awhile. Just had delicious dinner. Filet was amazing. Service by Mitch the best I've ever had. Great job firebirds
(5)Dalia E.
The ambiance was nice and homey and we went at a quiet time of the day for a late lunch so it wasn't too packed. I had the buffalo chicken salad, which is one of those salads thats so good and bad for you but you still can't help but order it. It was a but overdressed for my taste but I don't like too much salad dressing in general. Overall pretty good but nothing super special, I would go again however if I was in the area.

Fine dining at its finest very expensive but very worth it! I can't imagine a tastier place for dinner
(5)Andrew W.
Wow! Another great dinning establishment for West Omaha and well worth it. Great service and the food presentation is outstanding. Great value too. Try the meatloaf-outstanding!
(5)Jes M.
The food was great and the service was wonderful. I need to give it only 3 stars though because I feel this restaurant is mis-categorized in terms of price. It's not the most expensive steak I've ever eaten, but it was definitely a sticker-shock moment based on what I saw on their website, and in reviews on Yelp, Google, etc. We ate outside on the patio, because the weather was so nice, but it was a little weird given that this restaurant is really just in the middle of a huge mall parking lot. They have a nice fireplace deal though. The steak itself was very good-- the fact that it was cooked on a wood fire was evident and delicious-- I could taste the applewood and maple in a way that both delighted and surprised! And it's OK for kids. My kids enjoyed it, but we don't usually do the kids' menu thing. We didn't get any nasty looks from other patrons or the staff (which seriously means a lot in terms of feeling welcomed-- you'd be surprised), but don't expect a video game console or a face-painting station. If you're looking for a place where you could dress up a little for a date or you need to meet for a business dinner, I think you've found your spot. If you're looking for an inexpensive date night out, or just a place to sit down for a quick bite with your kids as we did, you might want to keep looking.

I can't give this restaurant and staff enough stars. We had a party of 14 on a busy Saturday night to help celebrate my mother's life as she had recently passed. You know how sometimes when you've dined out and had poor service? This was just the opposite. The staff was extremely responsive, helpful, and friendly. The food was also terrific. Most of our group had steaks while I opted for the cilantro chicken. Everyone in our group was pleased with their dinner, and the bonus was that most had some left over for the next day. Thanks to the staff and manager for making this special dinner terrific!!
(5)Frank P.
Great prime rib and very friendly staff. Manager was very nice as well. Traveling and staying right by so will be back every night to try different menu items. The manager suggested the plank salmon and NY strip. I'll try both and throw in a ribeye since others pictures looked wonderful. So far so good in Omaha!
(5)Deb T.
Today we went to celebrate a birthday and took advantage of the Memorial Day special. 3 veterans and 3 not veterans. We had prime rib and ribeye and a child's meal of ribs. All delicious, perfectly cooked. We also took advantage of the Monday 1/2 price bottle of wine. With these discounts 1/2 our bill was comped. Thank you Firebirds for honoring our veterans. We will return .

Took the old lady here for Valentine's Day. Impeccable ambiance and service. We had reservations for 8:15pm and were sat at 8:15pm. Pretty rare for a "holiday". First we ordered the lobster spinach queso. I thought it was a little runny but it tasted good and there was plenty of nice sized lobster chunks. I had the filet minion and loaded baked potato. The filet was cooked to perfection and the potato was a standard loaded potato with sea salt on the skin. GF had the salmon with mashed potatoes and the salmon was incredible. Well seasoned and cooked great. The also brought us out some wine samplers (free of charge) so we could decide on a bottle of wine. Service was great. Price reflected the experience well. Will be back again.

#Birthday Dinner! #Thursday @FirebirdsGrill; facebook.com/firebirdsgr… My first return to this very good restaurant in quite a while simply because I live on the other side of town. Upon entering we were greeted by the hostess and we were led by another to the table indicated. However, the table had not yet been cleared and my best friend and I were directed to wait while this was completed which took about 4-5m. Though I was puzzled at our wait despite several other open spots we enjoyed the fireplace and ambiance. Once seated our drink order was taken and we quickly received our waters and the wineI had requested. Our order consisted of the Smokehouse burger with sweet potato fries and my Pepper Crusted Sirloin with fries. Our food items arrived together still fresh and cooked to our desires. Both kinds of fries were appropriately seasoned as was the burger and my steak was wonderfully juicy and full of flavor. I will be returning for the quality food in the (hopefully near) future!

Very pleasant sunrise. (Saturday) So, we had a growing group of nearly 30. I called to make sure they could handle the unexpected crowd. Liz at the front ensured me (after talking the Mgr) that they could accommodate. I called back and adjusted the number of folks coming to dinner with us. I called back to ensure the proper dress code. Liz, was so very accommodating and friendly. When we got there, they had us all set up. They even had 3 servers assigned to help us to make sure everyone was served in a timely manner. Josh (and team) were great servers. They really made us feel welcome and appreciated our patronage. Oh yeah... And the food was great. Thank you!!!!!!!

Coca-Cola waterfall... So went to dinner with family and during the course of the evening waiter managed to spill Coke all over my niece. No problem as accidents happen but... We then watched as the waiter bringing a towel stopped to fill a tables water glasses as a Coca-Cola waterfall dripped onto my niece. But the manager came out and apologized and made things right and the food was good as always.

I love the atmosphere and close proximity to the house. However, customer service has never been an area of strength. The ladies at the front always seem discombobulated, the servers are always rushed, and the food is tasty but there are no standout dishes. Well all of this was true up until our last visit............ For starters our waitress Dani was great! For whatever reason she started out a bit nervous and apprehensive but after a few minutes she was "Dani on the spot"! Overall she was very attentive and personable. As for the food, the Kobe Meatloaf is truly worthy to be called a standout dish! Seriously it was so good I smacked my mama! Okay maybe not entirely true since there's still life in me to type this review. However, I wanted to. Seriously it was that good. My suggestion, skip the steak and go straight for the meatloaf.

This is my favorite place to eat in Omaha. The service is good and the food is AMAZING. If you're looking for a steak that will melt in your mouth - this is the place.

My wife and I were over at Village Pointe and decided to grab dinner. We hadn't been to Firebirds before so we wanted to give it a shot. They had a lot of great sounding stuff on the menu. The Durango Burger was especially calling my name, but in the end I decided to go a little healthier and stuck with the Spinach Salad with Grilled Chicken. It was really great! My wife went with the Meatloaf and mashed potatoes. It was really good; tasted like a nice home cooked meatloaf. The staff was super friendly, too. Our server was really enthusiastic and good. The manager was making rounds the entire time, making sure customers were happy. On the way out, someone I'm guessing was the proprietor asked us how everything was, and made some quick small talk while walking us to the door and holding it open for us. We will definitely be back.
(4)Jamie E.
I like this place because you can eat as healthy or as naughty as you'd like. Tons of grilled meat and plain veggies (I ordered bacon-wrapped filet with steamed broccoli) but also mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese etc. The steamed broccoli wasn't as soft as I would have liked, but whatever. It was broccoli. If I wasn't trying to avoid fried food I would have gotten the pecan crusted trout. My friend ordered it and said it was "dope. So dope." It looked dope. I had order envy for sure.
(4)Eric W.
Firebirds has the best prime rib I've had yet! The salmon is also a must, both grilled and sesame crusted! Gave a 4 star because service and serve times vary each visit!
(4)Alex H.
Firebirds is one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha, from the second you walk in the door the food fire smell makes the atmosphere. The Tenderloin Salad is a definate healthy favorite of mine.
(5)Chuck B.
The best steaks in Omaha, no kiddin! Have their filet mignon for an incredible beef experience. Superb staff and impeccable facilities and cleanliness.

Firebirds was next on my "dining out wish list" and I set off on my "new" city adventures last night. my grandparents loved going out for Sunday night dinner and since I moved back to my old hometown I have been trying to do that tradition in their memory. Firebirds is a lot of walnut paneling and matching booths. it screams "steakhouse" which is what I wanted. This is a lovely place very comfortable booths and they give you a private sort of feel even though large tables are nearby, I realized its in the same shopping area i'd been to before, once I made the turn off 6, and yet again frustrated my GPS by turning the way I wanted too instead of the way it wanted me to go and then realized (again) it was right since I was indeed going the wrong way and Firebirds was not where I thought. Sorry GPS. it has ample parking and I was early ( small lunch) I had no problems being seated. I had looked the menu up on Yelp and read the reviews and stuck to the basics. filet mignon loaded baked potato and I did opt for the extra mixed greens salad with pecans diced fresh tomatoes and lime cilantro vin. let me stop there and comment. that salad was YUMMY and normally I pick tomatoes out but they were a perfect balance with the pecans and greens and the vin was perfect. I will admit i'll be stealing that salad idea this summer and be trying to make it at home. I cant wait to try the spinach salad there either. I also had my doubts about the bread considering it was sort of flat when it arrived on its board with the knife, but it was quite fresh hot and very tasty. great compliment to the meal. also. I love those steak knives and their dinnerware and glassware. once the steak and potato arrived I was engrossed in my kindle book and as long as the food was there, I missed the fact that it had gotten quite busy in my quiet little booth. I was still well waited on ( I remember saying thank you when plates came and went and if my steak was cooked how I ordered it or if I needed anything which for ONCE they had enough topping that the loaded baked was actually LOADED) and when my lemonade ( another recommend) was up as was my steak and potato I asked for water. I love that in Omaha I FINALLY get ice water with enough actual ice in it. and even though I knew it was pushing it I ordered the Big Daddy chocolate cake. I know I skipped the steak and potatoes. I am sorry. I get easily distracted by dessert. I've always been that way and I doubt if that will change. the steak was a filet applewood smoked bacon wrapped. I ordered it medium and it was medium. it was also delicious and that bacon was perfect, the perfect flavor and texture that I realize HAS to be a Nebraska beef requirement because I certainly didn't find that very often when I was down in the other city ( Kansas City) in fact I had given up steak almost completely. the loaded baked potato was huge, covered in salt and resulting very very fluffy potato texture and the "fixings" were ample to mix in. now onto dessert. the Big Daddy chocolate cake. I am a chocolate junkie and a baker on top of it. I have NO idea how they basically did hot fudge in this cake and not have it fall apart but they did it. it was delicious. brownie sundae's are a favorite of mine and this with the ice cream make it just like one. I did not finish it, I took it home. as you can tell I very much enjoyed this meal. the server was very nice. the price was along the same I have paid here for a filet dinner and brought home how much I overpaid in the "other" city. I still have my list of places to go to in West Omaha but since there are other things on the menu I would like to try I will be back sooner than later.

This is a great place with great service and food. Also a great way to avoid the bad tourist trap eateries on the east side of Omaha. Get reservations because the place is popular on the weekend. Steak is great. Beer selection is great. I had the coconut shrimp which is great. Just disappointed they only offer pretzels during happy hour and early noon at the bar. Have to catch that at another time. This is one of the best places in town to go to. Prices may be a bit steep for some but the quality of the food is grand.
(5)Cris F.
Prime rib served at room temperature and tasteless. Steak salad way over dressed with 6 tiny pieces of cold steak. It was a Monday night and it was a real poor showing.
(2)Vanessa D.
Great service, delicious food. My mom tried the spicy chicken but it was too hot for her taste so they happily fired up another entree for her. Can't say how much I appreciated their flexibility after my parents came into town after a long day of driving. The coconut shrimp with mango habañero chutney is fantastic!!
(5)Janet R.
My husband's prime rib was perfect, my sesame seeds crusted salmon was lovely. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. My one gripe is that we had a 7:15 reservation but arrived early (about 6:30). We checked in at the front station and mentioned our reservation. ..We were told it was no issue and they were going to work us in early. We were finally seated a little past 7:30.
(2)Joe O.
Very good and consistent. Steaks are good, pastas are good and the blt salad is a staple. They also have their own cab wine (firebird's red) that is very decent and cheap. Get the onion rings and the mango shrimp appetizers. Visit here 3-4 times a year and I would say their prime rib is probably my favorite.

Went to Firebirds a couple of weeks ago for lunch with my sister-in-law. I hadn't been there in years and never for lunch but I've always liked the "vibe" so checked it out. I crave burgers the way some people crave chocolate so of course that's what I got - the black and blue burger (plus bacon) and the sweet potato waffle fries. Outstanding. Everything was great. My sister-in-law had the trout (one of her favorites). Of note: the warm bread and butter they bring out before your meal. I took half the burger home (because it's a good sized hunk of meat) and finished it the next day ... for breakfast. I couldn't wait to dig in. So tasty! Fast forward to yesterday. I've been craving (and raving) about this burger since I went there. Yesterday, my husband and I stopped in for a late lunch. He hadn't been there for lunch before and hadn't eaten there in years either. So disappointed. I ordered a repeat of two weeks earlier: black and blue burger with bacon and sweet potato waffle fries. The restaurant wasn't crowded since it was well past the lunch hour (and Sunday). However our waitress was nowhere to be found for long periods. That's okay because I only wanted more butter to finish the bread. She finally appeared and brought it so no problem. The fries were lukewarm and the burger tasted different than the first time - not in a good way. It had basil leaves under the bun that I didn't recall from last time. I like basil but I'm not sure it was necessary here. My husband ordered the trout. He liked it very much. I never do this but when the manager asked if all was okay, I mentioned that I didn't like it as much as the last time. I referred to the basil. He said yes, they put a small amount on the burger. The manager was very nice and wanted to make things right. He told us dessert - a banana cream pie on the house - was on its way out. We don't like bananas so told him it was totally unnecessary. But he insisted. It was a very nice gesture and I felt obligated to eat a couple bites since I was the one to complain. I'm sure it was tasty if you like bananas as it was really light and airy like a mousse. I appreciated the manager's attempt to make things right but taking half the burger off the bill would've gone a long way instead of me feeling like I had to eat another food I didn't care for. At least I satisfied my Firebirds burger craving ... and the lesson here is apparently - get the trout.

Awesome! We loved everything we ordered. This was our first visit and it started out a bit rough, but the food made up for it. We went in for lunch on a Sunday, and it was busy but not packed...no wait but a lot of the tables in the dining room were occupied. The bar was empty except for one bar table with a family of 4 dining. We were seated in a booth in the dining area immediately after arriving. By the time we had decided what we wanted to eat and drink (approximately 5 minutes) we had still not been greeted by our server. My boyfriend and I were both very eager to try the food here and after waiting a couple minutes longer I suggested eating at the bar since the bartender wasn't busy. The bartender was friendly and we gave him our full order (drinks, appetizers, and entrees) immediately after he greeted us. We ordered non-alcoholic drinks since we had plans to meet up with friends for drinks later. Our appetizers were the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad (for him), and the Chicken Tortilla Soup (mine!). We both ordered the 9 oz. Filet Mignon, medium rare. Steak fries for him, loaded baked potato for me. (I also ended up ordering the Key Lime Pie for dessert after I finished my meal even though I was already stuffed.) The bartender quickly brought us our drinks and fresh bread. I tried the bread, but didn't really care for it. It seemed kind of bland and dry. The bread isn't an important part of the meal for me though, so I didn't mind. Our appetizers came out surprisingly quickly which was nice because we were both very hungry. My boyfriend was absolutely raving about the Seared Ahi Tuna. Seared perfectly, with a wonderful seasoning it went great with the mixed greens salad and the spicy mustard sauce complemented everything wonderfully. The soup was generously topped with julienne tortilla strips, sour cream, tomatoes & green onion. It was nice and hot, but not so hot that I couldn't eat it. A slightly spicy, creamy, tomato based soup with lots of tender chicken. The fresh tomatoes and green onion created a refreshing undertone to the creamy soup. I could have done without the tortilla strips, which I felt took away from the flavor of the soup itself. Honestly though, I would have been content having a bowl of that delicious soup for my main entree. However since I had already ordered the darn filet I decided to make due with that instead. ;-) I can always come back for more soup! Steaks. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Can I say that again? The steaks were perfect. The outside was charred, but not burnt...just the way I like my steaks. Amazing flavor. Tender, juicy, and cooked to a beautiful medium rare. My boyfriend and I both agreed that they were our favorite steaks out of any restaurant in Omaha, including Mahogany and The Drover. My boyfriend said the steak fries were very good. Not too crispy, and not too soft. My loaded baked potato truly was loaded. I ate all of my steak before digging into the baked potato and when I finally did it was still nice and hot. The potato was nice and buttery but not drowning in it. A bit more sour cream would have been nice, but I like sour cream a lot and probably use more than the average person on my baked potatoes. There was also a lot of shredded cheddar cheese and a generous portion of large bacon pieces. The best baked potato I've had at any restaurant. And my favorite thing...dessert! Key Lime pie is one of my absolute favorite desserts and since they had it on the menu, I HAD to try it although I really had no room left in my stomach. The presentation was nothing special, and for some reason I was expecting something prettier so I was slightly disappointed about that. (I love food, but dessert is something that I find much more pleasureful and special. Having a fancy presentation always takes it up a notch or two in my opinion.) Back to the Key Lime Pie! The key lime filling was nice and tart, but a bit too sweet in my opinion. I found the graham cracker crust to be too thick, and ended up leaving most of that on the plate. I'd definitely eat it again though!

Firebirds is a modern restaurant and is in between Outback and Mahogany's steakhouse. It was a loud environment and the service was good. I ordered a smokehouse burger (onion, bacon, bbq, cheese) with steak fries and my girlfriend had a New York Strip (14oz) with sweet potato waffle fries and a Caesar salad. We also had a creme brule cheesecake at the end. Pros to Firebirds: Nice restaurant, good service, warm atmosphere. The steak was cooked well and the sides were very nice. I thought the crust was excellent on the steak and I enjoyed my burger (the best part was the bacon, which was crispy). The bread at the beginning was tasty and the cheesecake at the end is highly recommended (it had a creme brule at the top and was accompanied by berries and a sweet sauce). Cons: The Caesar salad was small and so so in flavor. It's value as poor as well ($5 extra with the entree). The cheese for my burger was not melted and piled loosely on top of the burger, like taco bell cheese. Perhaps they only do this for patrons who do not like cheese (so they can scrape it off), but eh. Value wise, Firebirds is so so. The portions are decently sized, but it's somewhat expensive. Expect to pay ~$20 a head for the entree and more if you include appetizers and dessert. All in all, I enjoyed Firebirds. I think it ranks similarly to other steakhouses such as Johnny's Steakhouse and Upstream. I think Johnny's is a bit more romantic (with the atmosphere), so maybe go there if you are on a date. Both Firebirds and Johnny's, however, are good choices for medium priced steakhouses in Omaha.

We were seated for 20 minutes, no server came to take a drink order, therefore we left. Can't comment on the food, but many other people were seated and served after us. Even after asking the hostess where our server was, we still were not served. Also smelled like fart, probably a sulfur leak or something.
(1)Corey B.
Long waits and expensive food. Why? Because it's worth it!!! The atmosphere is nice, the service is great. The drinks are delicious, the steaks are great! We will be returning for sure!
(5)Ken Y.
Amazing service tonight from our server, Gina She greated us when we sat down and we never wanted for anything. I had the blue cheese bacon wrapped filet and the flavor was amazing. My wife has a gluten allergie and the manager assisted her in deciding what to order based on their gluten free menu. Desert was fantastic.
(5)Kyle H.
We arrived on a semi-busy weeknight with a group of five and were seated fairly quickly. We got our menus and drinks started really quickly and the staff seemed to be very efficient. Appetizers and soups were out right after ordering. And during the appetizers we were being refreshed on waters, and wines, and other supporting staff even cleared some plates when they saw them empty. Our party ordered a variety of menu options from steak salads, burgers, and I got the firebirds bacon pasta on the bottom of the signature items menu. I highly recommend this dish, it was full of flavor, the sauce was excellent, and the bits of bacon just added a nice finishing touch. I saw some of the reviews about service but our service was great and it seemed like a team effort. It was a recommendation from another manager who had been here when visiting her store. We were all here on business and traveling but had a great time. After the meal the manager or owner thanked us for our business and dining, which was a nice finishing touch. Highly recommended.

we were out celebrating our anniversary and took a chance on a place we had never been. the reviews on yelp were good so we felt like it was a safe bet....and boy was it. A memorable night to say the least. Mackenzie our server was amazing. we ordered drinks but they were running behind so Mackenzie made them for us...5 minutes later and we had our drinks and they were perfect. the service was excellent and our food was amazing. the manager came to our table to wish us a Happy anniversary and gave us a card signed by the entire staff. really amazed by this place. Thanks Firebirds for a great time and wonderful memories. we will return again and again..
(5)Matt M.
Hadn't been here in a few years but everything was delicious. We ordered a BLT salad, Colorado Chicken Salad and the Firebirds Chicken Pasta. Everyone was pleased - both salads were great and the pasta was a hit too. Service and food were both spot on.
(4)Linda A.
This is one of my favorite all-around restaurants in Omaha. It has a great happy hour, is casual enough for families, is warm and inviting in the winter, and nice to sit outside in the summer. Delicious food! Their ahi tuna is one of the best in town. Salads are always great, their salmon was delicious too. I really like their bar area with the fireplace. Great drinks ... awesome martinis!
(4)Natasha S.
Came in toward the end of the night with my father after a long day of driving. The waiter was very good; we ordered one plate to share and he split the meal evenly for us. We had the ribeye and it was very nicely cooked and we'll seasoned. I would go back again if I'm ever in Omaha.
(5)Josh H.
Why in the world did I wait 5 years to finally give this place a try!? The lighting in this place is perfect for a nice romantic dinner, almost like a log cabin feel.. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, just the right amount of char on the outside and they were quite delicious. Everything was great from the fresh bread, salad and service. I'm looking forward to trying out the other menu items..

Our first trip to Firebirds was a pretty decent lunch stop, the only exception being the fish tacos, but last time I wasn't too excited about anything on the table... including the fish tacos I once again accidentally ordered. Guess that's what I get for not reviewing this place right away? Besides the bread and butter, nothing really got too good of a report from anyone at the table... steak salad (a little overcooked but good dressing), wings (a little slimy but nice smoke flavor underneath), and the fish tacos... I remember last time not liking them but these were very close to inedible. The avocado was, no joke, the best thing on the taco and the 'fish' if you can call it that... resembled calamari in texture, imitation crab in look and nothing in flavor. The tacos were also served with an inappropriately large side of cold grilled asparagus vegetable salad - only worth a couple of bites. I choked down this mystery meat (all 2 oz of it) for the protein content but left a majority of the rest untouched. All that being said, I'd probably go back to Firebirds again, but will not under any circumstance order fish tacos. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... well, you know.

I could smell the wood-fire grill as soon as I parked the truck and instantly knew I was eating steak tonight...and my Delmonico was perfect. We will definitely be back...if only for the lobster queso and chips. It's great to be a carnivore at this joint.

Overpriced, over rated. Standard mediocre chain food fare. We outside on the patio the patio could use a good deep power wash it was dirty and attracted small animals. the waitstaff was dragging the table across the cement which felt and sounded like nails on a chalkboard and made it difficult to hear my guest talking.

Visiting Omaha for the holidays, we consult Yelp and find this restaurant with a 4 star review. Sounds great! We arrive well before the dinner rush because of plans later in the evening. We are handed dinner and drink menus. My son notes that we have had some slower service on our trip and he wonders if tonight will be better. Now 10 minutes have passed, we've decided on our order and wine selection and it occurs to us that we haven't been greeted. We've been enjoying each other's company, we're on vacation and we're not THOSE people. Another couple minutes pass and we smell a distinct natural gas odor and wonder of there is a problem on the kitchen. Another five minutes and now we are noticing that other tables seated well after us have been greeted and watered. Many years ago, I worked in a restaurant and I suspect that our server doesn't know his or her station. What's interesting is that the server waiting on tables adjacent to ours doesn't acknowledge us or attempt any service recovery. I try with increasing desperation to capture the attention of anyone: first with eye contact, then a subtle hand gesture progressing to a wave but nope...this dining staff cannot see us. Are we invisible? No. Are we dressed or groomed undesirably? No. Do we smell or appear to have an infectious disease? No, we don't! So this remains a mystery. We debate...should we just leave? The vote is split 2 v. 2. My brother-in-law would have been in the manager's face after four minutes but between you and me, some of us find him to be a bit insufferable. Ah, the hostess is seating the booth next to us. She hands the patrons their menu. When she doesn't notice or acknowledge that we are still waiting with menus and no drinks, I discreetly call her over to explain that we've been seated 15 or 20 minutes with no server acknowledgement. Oh, she says with vague concern, no apology. She sets off...we think to correct the situation. 2 minutes later, the server greets and delivers water to the booth next to ours! We are outta here!! And will never return. Ever. Firebird front manager, you've got your work cut out training your wait and host staff on basic service and service recovery. I can't end this review without commenting on the quality of the children's menu. My daughter had time to elaborately color the menu while we waited and waited and waited... She wanted me to mention that little silver lining in this cloud.

This is a pretty nice place, but nothing really distinguishes it from many of the nicer restaurants in the area. Firebirds is a chain out of Charlotte, NC. They focus on meat, but they are willing to work with vegans and any other special requests the consumer may have. Prices are probably on par for what you get. The service is friendly and rather prompt. The food is good. We went for lunch with a few kids and were seated at a corner booth that the kids found fun to sit in. The restaurant is not particularly loud, so conversation can carry on smoothly. [Edited to correct originating location.]

Food: awesome! Service: crap, uninviting. Bad enough to not warrant any return visits... I wasn't happy that I was handed a very wet, I repeat: wet, menu that I had to dry off with my napkin. The server asked for drinks, we said water. When she dropped off the water, I opened my mouth and started talking of which she walked off before I could utter a sound. Um, I'm sorry but I wanted to order one of your overpriced martinis, but never mind. We used to rave about the food here, but we have decided we are not going to visit this place again after the way we were treated. This is bad considering that my previous review of this place on 3/31/11 was 5 stars...amazing what 2 years can do to a repeat customer.

The crab cake salad was bland. For $15 it was a rip-off. My husband liked his ribeye and said it was good. The real issue is I think it's a little too expensive for the quality and taste. Also we had a $10 gift card given after a visit earlier in the year when a waiter spilled something on me. Conveniently the manager comes over to tell us it expired after 90 days. Maybe it should say that somewhere.

I'm a sucker for a happy hour. There's nothing better than that vibe you get when a bunch of folks get together for discounted bar food and cocktails after a day workin' for the man. My requirements for a good happy hour: awesome food options, even better drink options and a great atmosphere (a patio is a definite plus). So, while wasting a couple of hours in the VPointe area, our options were shopping or happy hour at Firebirds. What do you think?! Food options: Not bad. We went with the smoked chicken wings, potato skins, mini sliders and lobster spinach queso - all at half price. Drink choices: The usual over-sweet cocktails, mediocre wine and beer choices. Bonus point for their Cucumber Gimlet (sans simple syrup for me). Atmosphere: It's winter, so the bar was not only small, but located directly in front of the double-doors, so leave your coat on or dress accordingly. They do appear to have a decent looking patio that might be worth checking out in the warm weather months. Overall, not a bad happy hour. Firebirds is nowhere near my work or home and it didn't meet all of my criteria for happy-hour-awesomeness. However, if I lived/worked out in the VPointe area, I'd consider popping in occasionally for post-work socializing with friends.

Have eaten here twice. First time I got the spinach salad with tuna tartare which was delicious!!! Second time, the rib eye with potatoes au gratin, also very good! Atmosphere is upscale casual and the place smells wonderfully smoky ... kind of like a mesquite fire smell. Service was attentive and impeccable. Highly recommend!
(4)Michelle M.
We love it every time. Our daughter gets the kids steak and we both get the sirloin salad. We have had many other items and they are great. Service is always good.

Food was great as always, the fried spinach is amazing!

I have been here 2 times for dinner, the atmosphere is very nice, large wood burning fireplace in the bar area, a very cozy on the upscale kind of place, but yet not too upscale. I had the Steak Kabob the 1st time and it was very good, we had the Coconut Shrimp for an appetizer and it was wonderful, came with an Asain Slaw that was so tasty, it was so good that the next time I came I ordered it for my dinner. It came as an entree and had 19 very large Shrimps so much I had to take half home. Of course it came with the Asain slaw!! Great place to eat in a nice atmosphere!

Went there Friday evening with a group of 11. The place was packed, but had no trouble getting a table with our reservation. Had the coconut shrimp, and it was even better than normal. The service was excellent. We were never wanting for drinks or bread or anything. The server gets extra kudos for pointing out that the tip was already included. I would rate it a 5 except that it's soooo loud that you could only carry on a conversation to the people right next to you. And the tables are so close together that it's hard to move a big table to talk to everyone else.

We love Firebirds. Seriously delicious food all the time. I love their rib-eye with cheesy potatoes and their chicken pasta. My fiance and I split a side BLT salad every time because it's just not a Firebirds dinner without it. The bread they serve you before your meal is warm and the butter is not rock hard. Word of advice: Always have a reservation or come really late because this place is always packed.
(5)Cathy S.
We eat at Firebirds a couple times a month. The food is always good. For best service don't dine after 9:00pm.
(4)Amy O.
I've been to Firebirds Wood Fired Grill twice and enjoyed my visit both times. The place is really big, so even if the parking lot looks full, still give it a go. The menu is diverse, and the food prepared well. Service is good too. The only downside is that it is a bit pricey - or at least I feel it falls short slightly in value. Otherwise a good place to go for an evening out every once in a while.

We went to Firebirds for the first about a month ago and enjoyed it so we decided to go back. This time we both ordered the New York Strip which was a tad pricey at $27 each. At 14 oz, it was so large that neither of us could finish it. It had a good taste even with little seasoning. It had a crunchy, wood fired taste to it. It was charred just a bit which really added fome flavor. I normally order my steaks medium well and this one was perfectly cooked. I don't think its quite as good as the Whiskey Filet at the The Drover but its still one of the better steaks that I've had. The tastes are so different that it really depends on preference. As a side, I ordered the loaded baked potato. It had the standard toppings like butter, sour cream, cheese, and bacon. It was good. My wife really enjoyed the parmesan mashed potatos. The servce wasn't quite as good this time around. Our server was a trainee who spoke a little too softly and that made hima little difficult to hear. He was very nice and while it took a bit to refill my soda the first time, they picked it up afterwards. I really like it when a place boxes up your leftovers and here, they even heat them as you wait. I'm sure that we'll be back again.

My broccoli was showing almost all yellow that it was overcooked, zero taste and very crunchy. I told my waitress and didn't want anything else. She sent the manager over and he apologized. I tried my wife's mashed potatoes and they too were bland and no taste, even after she added salt. Salmon and prime rib were great. As we were leaving, another table commented the same thing about the broccoli and said to get it out of their face. Chef needs to check himself and stop trying to get away with crap! We also noticed how loud it was here. Very strange for such a fancy place. Get ready to go through some $$ with this place.

My wife and I eat here often. One of our favorite places to eat. Would recommend highly!
(5)Ramon B.
Good God! Bring a personal line of credit to eat here, but after eating the food you will understand why your kids college fund is gone and you're now homeless. The steak is surely the highlight here and boy does it do a wonderful dance on my tongue piece. I rarely eat a steak without me having to put on a lil bit of "how steak is done" sauce but the slab I had didn't need sauce and it just melted in my mouth. The ambiance is that of a sky lodge so I can dig it because steakhouses that stick with the "cowboy" theme makes my brain hurt. So is the food good? Damn Good!! Will you enjoy poverty if you want to give it the ol college try? See you under the bridge brotha! Eat up Minions!!
(5)Francisco F.
I can't say enough good things about this place. Order a filet medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. The bread was baked fresh and was constantly being refilled. The crème brûlée cheesecake is absolutely the best flavored cheesecake I have ever eaten. The service was fantastic, with our waitress always refilling drinks, restocking bread, and generally asking if everything is up to par. If you like steak, don't pass on this place.

It is what you'd expect it to be. Really good food at higher than average prices. We went to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday and the food was tasty with decent portion sizes. The lobster queso dip was great, with more lobster than you'd expect for an appetizer. I ordered the crab-cake salad, which was very good and very filling. Much of the food is actually grilled using a wood fire, as the name would imply, and from what my co-diners told me of their meals, it shows. The decor is typical upscale, yuppie design with a log-cabin twist. I would note that every female server I saw was in some variant of little black dress, with some leaving little to the imagination. It's not so bad as to be tasteless, so unless you're very uncomfortable by that sort of thing it should be fine, but it was enough to be noticeable. The waitresses we had were attentive enough, though one of them seemed a bit lacking in the personality department. Everyone in our party was satisfied with their food, and if the prices were a little lower I'd consider a five-star review. As it stands, though, the food justifies the higher price than your average chain place, so it earns its four stars admirably.

Love sitting in their bar by the fire to enjoy drinks and apps. Good cozy environment.
(5)Laura K.
Food was just ok. It arrived cold when it came to our table. My parmesan potatoes were pretty bland and my husband decided to complain about the broccoli. It was pretty disgusting, overcooked, and tasted freezer burnt. My prime rib was one of the better cuts I've had in awhile. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We will maybe give this a second chance, but not for awhile and if the other yelpers start giving better reviews.

Delicious. Yummy. used to go to firebirds every weekend!! I recommend the steak salad, baby back ribs, or smokehouse BBQ chicken sandwich.
(5)Jamie L.
This was the second time we've been for lunch and not been impressed. The chicken tortilla soup was cool, bland and grainy. Both burgers were really heavy and dense - not juicy at all - as though they'd over-worked the beef and left it tough. The soft buns on the burgers were nice and the veggies fresh. Fries lacked salt and mine were overcooked. The atmosphere is nice, I guess, but I found the waitresses' identical outfits, down to the belts, odd. Service was quick, but strange, in that every person who walked by our table brought us something or took something away. To me, this is a dressed up Chili's with half the menu.
(2)KL E.
Love this place, only complaint is that it's hard to carry on a conversation in there because its so loud! The beef tenderloin salad, French dip (which is enough to split), and chicken pasta are a few of my favorites.

We just have a large dinner party at Firebirds (54 people) and everything was exceptional. Service: The wait staff was very attentive to our group the entire time we were there. We had an hour long cocktail hour and then dinner and there wasn't a moment we were in need of anything! That's great service! Food: We did one of their small menus. The one that was $30 pp. We had a choice of Sirloin, Salmon, or Chicken. I tried the chicken and steak. The steak was SO good. It was cooked perfectly and the seasoning on the outside was a great compliment! Planning: I worked with the Managing Partner and the restaurant manager in advance of the event and both were very helpful and organized. We'd definitely go to Firebirds again for an event like this one!
(5)Michelle F.
The only reason for the 4 star review than a 5 star is that the service is hit and miss. The food is very tasty I have been there many times, usually for lunch and star with a blt salad - love this salad so much I have called to get it to go, but the to go version does not compare. Then either the steak sandwich n fries or grilled salmon. Both are awesome in flavor. I will go there again and again!
(4)Alexis S.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! My husband and I were visiting my family a few weeks back and this is where the whole family decided to eat. My husband is from Seattle and hasn't experienced true steak, what I mean is they can't cook steak like we do here in the midwest! Well anyway we loved it the service was wonderful and the food was great ! We will be coming here next time when we come up to visit the family again
(5)Tim S.
Food was good I had the prime rib, as was the service. Prices are reasonable for both food and drink. Major bonus was they had Rolling Rock on tap, nice and cold. Would try it again the next time I visit Omaha.

I've been here twice now because of the convenient location after shopping. I don't have anything particularly negative, but for me this place is just not very interesting. The food is fine and cooked well, but there's nothing on the menu that stands out. They offer a pretty standard steak/fish list, at around $20-25 a plate. I don't typically order steak, so I found those prices a bit high for pasta or fish. The drinks are particularly pricey, at $9 for a glass of the house red wine. They do handle extremely busy nights well. While we waited near the door, a waitress brought us a drink menu and let us order from there while we waited, given the full bar area. Our server was also courteous and checked in just he right mount.

Sometimes you just got to have a great steak. Firebirds is the place for it. The food is good and the bread that they give is great. The servers are nice and are helpful.
(5)Paul B.
Warm welcoming interior gives firebirds major bonus points. Portions were gigantic (I'll let you decide if that is a good thing or a bad thing). I got the filet mignon and was very happy with it. I think it was ~$24 for the filet so prices were pretty reasonable. The service was terrible. Our waiter was a kid who clearly didn't have enough training and was never anywhere to be found after he took our order. Normally I'm pretty tolerant of bad service but it was really frustrating trying to get water glasses refilled, a drink mid meal, and finally the check. Here the welcoming dark ambiance hurts the place. I had to wave down other waiters and to catch their eye in the dark basically meant stopping everything and waving madly at every waiter that passed, even then it took 10 minutes to get someone's attention. My last complaint is really my own fault for not fixing on the spot, so treat this as a warning as opposed to part of the review. I ordered a glass of scotch neat. It came in what looked like a brandy balloon or cognac glass that hadn't been well dried. So the warning is: Firebirds does not have good single malt glasses and if you order scotch neat then it arrives tasting like it has tap water in it then man up and send it back. I didn't want to make a scene in front of the people I was with so I sat there frustrated and drank it. Actually the better advice the world seems to be giving me is: don't order scotch at restaurants, you will just end up frustrated.

Someone recommended this place to me, they said they liked it, especially the key lime pie. My dinner started with a caesar salad, it was way overdressed and somehow still completely lacked any flavor. Complimentary bread was pretty good. For entree I got the chili crusted steak Delmonico. If there was a chili crust I could not taste it, it tasted like it was completely unseasoned. The southwestern au gratin potatoes that came with it were okay. I don't know what was southwestern about them. The cheese sauce had kind of hardened on them, and didn't cover much of them. I hate complaining about food, so I didn't say anything. So I can't comment on how management responds to complaints. I had the key lime pie. It was really good as I'd been told. Coffee I ordered with it I think had been sitting awhile. So I'd recommend if you are out at Village Point and want pie after a movie, stop by. Otherwise I'd pass.
(2)Sean T.
Chicken tortilla soup was okay. Caesar salad left a bit to be desired. The grilled Salmon was left on the heat a tad bit too long. The bread was delicious. Dressing was bitter, lettuce cut too small. Salmon cooked okay, but not deliciously. It is a nice place, but I just picked the wrong day, I suppose.
(3)Andrea H.
Wonderful baby backs. Creme brûlée cheesecake was incredible. Lobster spinach queso was delish

Being from out of town, it took us a while to find this place, but it was worth it. I was looking for someplace that we would enjoy but our two-year-old wouldn't be unwelcome at, and this fit the bill perfectly. They were very friendly and the food was prepared quickly, correctly and priced appropriately. If I was traveling without a child in tow, I would have loved to explore the entire center that Firebirds is located in. I had salmon, my husband had prime rib, and our kid was thrilled with his grilled cheese and fresh fruit.

Yummm... just the thought of this place brings a smile to my face and a rumble to my tummy :) I went to visit my sister in Omaha and she took me to this fantastic restaurant (I had no Idea it was a chain til now!!) I ordered their filet mignon- and it was SO good! But my sister, ordered their pepper crusted sirloin... and that takes the cake any day. I took a single bite of her steak and I was blown away! Still not better than Ruth's Chris steak house to me, but really really good! It was a great dish. Its a bit crowded- If they take reservations do make them otherwise the wait time is a bit irritating.. I would definitely make the trip to this restaurant if they opened one here!
(4)L C.
We've never had any problems since we've been going here. Absolutely love the Lobster Spinach Queso Dip! Menu is limited though and it's too loud, that's what keeps me from giving it 5 stars.
(4)Morgan S.
Great restaurant! In Omaha visiting family and my brother said we had to try Firebirds. So glad we did. You feel like you're entering a restaurant in Aspen - warm wood beams, fireplace by the bar, stone work throughout the restaurant, and an open kitchen. The menu is unique, plentiful, and satisfying. We got a lobster dip and onion rings to start. The onion rings were average but the dip was great. For entrees, we got baby back ribs, coconut shrimp, penne pasta, and a flounder dish. All were fantastic! The best thing about the restaurant was the service. We were a group of 8, with two small children, which is never easy to deal with. Our waiter was patient, great with the kids, and got our food out in a timely manner. My only complaint would be that they brought half of the food and then brought the other half 5 minutes later. I think I would have preferred they bring them all at once but that's a small gripe. When in Omaha - definitely check this place out!
(4)Pete O.
Had a quick burger for lunch while Christmas Shopping. Great ambiance and food.
(5)Daniel A.
I finally got my prime rib fix tonight! I took the wife to Firebirds, and we had a great dinner. She had the Seared Tenderloin Salad, I had the 16oz prime rib with Parmesan mashed potatoes. We shared an order of the coconut fried shrimp for an appetizer The food was really great and the waiter was excellent, they would have got an extra star if they had not screwed up our reservation. Fortunately, after a 20 minute wait, another talk with a different hostess got us a table. If you go, make sure to tip Jeff the bartender well!
(4)Kirk M.
Love this place, always have. Now they have a really cool happy hour that adds to the attractiveness. We went there last night just for happy hour drinks. They have $5 Margaritas, Martinis, and specialty cocktails until 7. This goes much further than many omaha happy hours. All the ingredients are natural, not too many with they sugar syrup most have. Stay for dinner and you wont be upset. The atmosphere is really cool as well.

Firebirds is basically a woodfire grill house which isn't as ubiquitous in Omaha as it is in other regions. The Firebirds spin on the concept is to add Southwestern Rockies flair to their food and surroundings (which somehow they relate to Aspen, CO). I'm not sure how much of that is really achieved through the food, but they do a decent job of it through decor without being a tired theme restaurant. I could delve into details here, but since I said I was going to keep this short, I'm going to jump right into the food. This was about my third time at Firebirds and with emotional confliction, I can truly say this is one of the better restaurants in Omaha. I have no problem with it being part of a chain, but it pains me that there are so few upscale casual restaurants in Omaha, thus chains will probably be our only choice for some time to come. It also saddens me because if I'm honest with myself, the term "better" should really be "best", at least when comparing local restaurants of the same caliber. So what makes Firebirds one of the "best" restaurants in Omaha? Well, aside from the fact that I like the atmosphere (which is admittedly a little too dark), I believe they have set the bar for food a notch above what we had previously seen in the area. They have both creative concepts and consistent execution that decidedly puts them in the upper echelons of the Omaha food chain (no chain pun intended). If I had to compare them to other restaurants in the metro, I'd say they are closest to Jams or Upstream. Some example menu items include Espresso Encrusted Sirloin, Pasta with a Chile Asiago Cream Sauce, a side dish of Fried Spinach leaves, and a chocolate cake that was moist and fudgie without being overly sweet. I do, however, have a couple of gripes about their menu. My biggest complaint is that the menu is just too small. If you take off the appetizers and salads, you're left with about 25 dishes. If you take off all of the stuff that is standard fare that you can get at Outback, you're down to less than 15 dishes. If you want me to be a repeat customer, you need to give me some more options or at least differentiate yourself enough that I'll seek you out for the food I can get nowhere else. And if you're overly sensitive to spicy foods, you can pretty much write-off about a third of their menu which features a lot of southwestern influenced tastes like mango habanero chutney. The only other thing that bothered me was the price of their side salads. Overall their prices were pretty reasonable ranging from $13 to $24 for entrees. Regardless of what they charge for their entrees, I can't understand for the life of me, why they think they can charge $4 for a Ceasar Salad that is small, drowned in store bought dressing, and just unappealing. At least make your own dressing or something... Read more of this review and other Omaha food stuff through the link below: gastronomicfightclub.com…

One of our favorites. But, we like the menu item we first ordered and seem to continue to get it again. We need to branch out a bit. Great atmosphere. Service acceptable. We have ordered other items beyond the salads we tend to get. The burgers and sandwiches are also excellent.
