India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. I went to Curri after passing it several times. My curiosity finally got the best of me so I stopped in. I ordered to go and took a seat at the bar. First and foremost I will say the staff was attentive, considerate, and very knowledgable. I ordered the Malai Kofta paired with the garlic naan bread. I didn't have to play on my phone once the owner and I had a wonderful conversation. The food was ready in about 12-15 mins. It was hard to make it home without stopping to eat because it smelled so good. I went home and ate half of it and all of the bread. The seasoning and the dumplings were savory and amazing! The owner recommended the lunch buffet and I will take him up on it! Would advise anyone who likes Indian food to check it out!

I was looking for a new Indian place and heard about the buffet. So I came in here like several others Saturday afternoon who thought by the sign on the door that the buffet was happening. Apparently it's only for some days during the week. I would have walked out but figured why not at least try the place. Their prices are far too high for the quality. Tried the stuffed "chillis" which were actually three jalepenos cut in half with a thick slightly sweet batter. They weren't bad but don't advertise six "chillis" when it's three just cut. I had the Mulligutawny soup which was the worst I've had around town. This is a typical soup made from lentils. At Curri however it tasted like watered down lentil broth with no seasoning. I was very much disappointed. I had ordered the Garlic Naan which was very good and thankfully when torn into pieces and added to the soup gave the soup some depth. The other dish was #39 on the menu (can't remember the name). It was lamb in a tomato based sauce with tomatoes, green bell peppers, red bell peppers, and onions. It was requested to be very spicy. It was very mild in that the "chillis" appetizer had more kick. The flavor was decent and the veggies of this dish were definitely fresh. How they check out the card is with someone's tiny little iPod where they manually type in the card numbers. I do not approve of this method because those little devices can be stolen. I will not be back to this place as I felt deceived like others that day about the buffet, the watered down soup, and the method of taking to card information.

This was our first time at Curri. We arrived soon after they opened so we had the place to ourselves but the hostess sat us right next to the kitchen anyway. I'm guessing this was for the convenience of the wait staff. So after a few minutes of listening to them all chat and hang around a few feet away we asked to move to a quieter area. I was excited to try the lentil flour crepes, I had never seen that before, but was told that the cook that makes those was not there that night :/ which is funny because the booth next to us ordered the same thing from their waiter and were warned they just got a new oven so it might not turn out as well. They got one with no problem. I ordered a vegetable tandori dish instead. I was warned that it would take longer for some reason, but it ended up taking so long that they offered to comp us a round of beers, which was much appreciated. By the time we got our food we were tipsy and starving. My dish, which was beautifully done, was quite small and left me hungry. I wish it would have come with rice or something, a small amount of paneer and bell peppers just isn't worth the price. They use iPhones to take your order. Then they swipe your card and hand you the phone to sign and write in a tip...while they stand at your table waiting...awkward. Our waitress, who was very sweet, was clearly trying to impress us with the whole iPhone thing, but I could tell by my husband's face that the hygienic issues of holding that smudgy thing were all he was thinking about. So all in all, the food was not bad but not worth the cost. Go to Mother India and pay less for the same thing but more of it. Either you come down a bit on the prices and keep the teenage wait staff and go casual OR you keep the high prices and hire more experienced people and give your customers a high-end dining experience but you can have your cake and eat it too.

A friend and I tried the lunch buffet after seeing several positive reviews. $9.95 for lunch is not an every day thing for me, as I brown bag it most days, so I was hoping that the food met my expectations. Knowing full well that I wouldn't like everything on a buffet style setup, I was hoping to find a few 'excellent' dishes from those that I sampled on my first pass. Here are the few that I thought stood out as being excellent to good: 1 - Chole - Chick peas cooked in an exotic blend of north Indian spices. (my favorite) 2 - Chicken Curri - Onions, ginger, garlic and fresh tomatoes combined with fresh pieces of succulent chicken. 3 - Chicken Korma - Boneless pieces of white chicken in a medium yogurt based Curri sauce with cashew nuts and touch of cream. 4 - Tandoori Chicken - small portions of chicken marinated in exotically spiced yogurt. These factors led to my deducting two stars: The setup of the buffet is a bit cramped as it is situated against the wall and in a corner in close proximity to tables, making it a challenge for a line of people making their way through and staff trying to re-stock items at the same time. There was no naan on the buffet, it had to be ordered ala carte for $2 more. While service was attentive, my ice tea never got refilled. It's definitely worth a try.

I was very pleased with the selection that Curri offered on the buffet menu - nice hot puris and the usual: saag paneer, tandoori chicken, etc. Nonetheless, I felt that the flavors were kinda watered down. I guess this place is good to get a fix, but on a not-so-frequent basis.

We were excited to find out they do food happy hour specials on Sunday nights - great deals! Service was attentive and food was delicious. We will definitely be back.
(4)M R.
Great dishes , we happened to be on Sunday when they serve buffet , fabulous dishes and quite reasonable price . Generally on weekends they serve buffet.

Great Indian food, with attentive and knowledgeable Service. It has a nice atmosphere. I went there with a friend of mine who is an airline pilot and has traveled the world. As well as living in Malaysia for several years. He commented it always was disturbing to him When a restaurant of this quality was not full Of people. Our server new Nish, was Super. After our meal he returned the table with my receipt and Noted that I had paid too much. How often does that happen? I recommend this place highly.
(5)Jay R.
We stopped by Curri Friday night and they appear to be closed. There was a sign on the door that suggested it might be temporary. curri.biz seems to be the only site being updated with their status.

My wife and I have dined here over half a dozen times. I keep going back hoping to have a better experience, but it ain't happening. The buffet is good, with excellent variety. They also incorporate some spice into their dishes, which we find appealing. When we dine out, we are looking for a good time. However, our experience has consistently been spoiled by a poor wait staff - especially a waiter that needs a personality transplant. It's reasonable to expect some gratitude and courtesy when we spend money. He has refused to seat us in a timely manner, and consistently has a belligerent attitude - bordering on rudeness. The service was very slow - we received our naan after we were finished with our meal. The mango lassi was excellent, but a very small glass for $3.95. I'm not sure if the person we had the misfortune to meet was the same as lizzymd17 in Urbanspoon (a bearded male), but if it is, we agree. Perhaps he should find work where he doesn't have to deal with the public. We certainly will not be recommending any more friends . . . Bottom line: Good Food; Bad Experience
(3)Cary M.
this place had the most lame Indian food. gross. what a rip off. the saag paneer was right out of a can. my husbands chicken korma was also horrible. yuk what a waste of money.

Great food with authentic Indian taste. Being of Indian origin I have usually been disappointed with most Indian restaurants in Omaha. Curri, however, was a very pleasant surprise. The food was great, service professional, ambiance was simple and soothing. Menus selection was long. Overall, had a great experience. Try it out and you won't be disappointed. After having some really good food, we were really excited to try out the mango kulfi which is our favorite. However, we were disappointed that they were out of stock. Understandable, since we were quite late on Saturday night. The substitute we ordered was the carrot halwa. When we asked why it was taking a long time the server told us that they were out of the halwa as well so they were making it fresh. This was at nearly 10 pm which is their closing time. That was quite amazing. A word of caution. If you don't eat spicy food, be careful. We ordered a spice level of 5 out of 10 and it was great. But anything more would have been too much. And I am normally used to eating spicy Indian food. One can only hope that the owners, Ray et al, will maintain the quality of the food and service for a long time.

Lots of 2 star reviews here. My girlfriend and I had a solid 3 star experience. I don't like buffets. It encourages overeating, and is rarely a good example of what a restaurant has to offer freshly made to order from the menu. Minimal problems with service. Our server was prompt and polite, and gave us good suggestions of dishes to order. He does however need to memorize the dessert menu and the descriptions, or just bring us one. We got a totally different dessert from what was expected. Language barrier was not the issue. The Vegetable Samosas, Chicken Biryani, and Shaam Savera were outstanding, with generous portions for the price. The requested level of heat was spot-on. There is an extensive selection of vegetarian dishes, and the one I ordered I've never heard of or seen before. All of the food was excellent, except for the mulligatawny soup. The spices and small chunks of chicken were not as expected. Dessert was good, but there was a bit of confusion, as our server gave us suggestions that did not include all the selections. The girlfriend really likes rice pudding. The server offered what sounded like an acceptable version, but with carrots. Neither one of us had heard of or tried it before, so we ordered it, along with some New York style cheesecake with a drizzle of tamarind sauce. The dessert that we thought was going to be carrot-rice pudding was not. It was gajar ka halwa, and it was good, but it is nothing like paal payasam. The girlfriend didn't care for it. This review is getting long, so I'll simply suggest you use your favorite search engine for the details. In conclusion, we had a good dining experience all in all. The restaurant interior is nicely done, well-lit, with music playing at an acceptable background level. The service was polite and prompt, without being hyper-attentive. The food was fantastic, with what I thought was a fair and comparable price point. There were three things that kept me from giving this place 5 stars: The table service is very nice, with a well made and designed table service wrapped in a dark grey cloth napkin. But..while I'm sure it was clean, the table service was covered with water spots. Next, the TVs. There is a large screen above the bar, and it was not a distraction as I had my back to it...but there is another screen on the east wall that just had a slide show of Curri specials...bright, and really not well done. I would have a cricket match or perhaps a medley of Indian scenery, Bollywood movie clips, or Indian music videos playing...or maybe nothing at all for the dinner service, just the lunch service. Will I go again? Yes. None of the critical factors were bad enough to keep me away, and I'm optimistic that they will be corrected. Would I recommend to a friend? Yes. Is it my favorite Indian restaurant? No, but it's in the top 3.

Don't bother, once was it, the other dissapointed reviewers have already shared my sentiments. My preference is Kurry Express, food is consistently excellent and the briyani is first class.

I come here for lunch regularly now, and the lunch buffet is always tasty and the staff is friendly. Definitely one of my favorite Indian restaurants in town.

I'm here to update my review as I am confused that this place isn't getting better reviews. One trend that I have noticed in these reviews and the reviews on Urban Spoon, is that a lot of the negative reviews stem from either the lunch buffet, or a rude waiter (which I had encountered before, I'm pretty sure I know which "bearded male" is being referenced in the reviews, and he no longer works at Curri - problem solved). As far as the lunch buffet, I have never had it. Although I agree that a restaurant should be at its very best regardless of the day, time, etc, the fact is that lunch buffets at Indian restaurants are designed to appeal to the masses and often as 'introductions" to Indian food. Most Indian restaurants will tone down the spice levels for a buffet. Again, I don't agree, but I guess they don't want to scare people away. If you like your Indian food spicy, don't go for the buffet! Go for dinner and order it exactly the way you like it. Then write a review based on that. Another point that I will bring up is both my husband and I are vegetarian. I can't speak for any of the meat dishes, but we have tried almost all of the vegetarian options and almost everything we have ordered has been consistently delicious (not a fan of their Saag Paneer). As far as spice level goes, I find Curri to be one of the few restaurants that mean it when they say "spicy". I am used to ordering my food medium, but I have found that Curri's mild is more of a medium. They have never messed up any of my orders. The service is fine. It's nothing exceptional, but definitely not rude (anymore, since that one guy is gone). I have started getting take out since I live so close, and that is even better. This is by far my favorite Indian restaurant in Omaha. I recommend Mixed Veggie Pakoras for an appetizer. My favorite entrees are Malai Kofta, Kashmiri Aloo, Vegetable Biryani, Aloo Vindaloo, Vegetable Korma, and Shaam Savera.

My hubby and I stopped in for the buffet at 2 pm on a weekday. Despite the late hour, the offerings were fresh and plentiful. There were several vegetarian offerings and three chicken dishes, including tandoori chicken. All the selections were a bit more spicy than typical Indian buffet fare. They offered only one dessert, gulab jamun, which was served cold instead of warm (a minus) but was in a lighter syrup (a plus). There was also green salad and a few chutneys on the cold bar. A small serving of naan was brought in a basket and was rather disappointing - it didn't look or taste like freshly-made naan. Overall, it was okay Indian food and equivalent to most of the other offerings we've found in Omaha. Mother of India is better but it is nice to have a buffet offered for lunch. We might return but will continue our quest to find really good Indian food in the area.

I hover between a three and a four. The three if for prices, the four for the food. We went for dinner, and the food was very tasty. It's not Mother India, but I didn't have many quibbles. (Then again, I won't pretend to be an expert, either, although I enjoy Indian food and eat a lot of it.) The waitress was very kind, and offered recommendations and answered all our questions. I would go back, although more as a "treat" place than a regular, as, again, the prices are on the high side. One is paying for service and atmosphere -- which is fine as long as one goes in expecting that. A nice place for a nice dinner. For Indian takeout, Mother India is still queen.

I went in for lunch at a little after 1pm, the hostess sat me at small table because I was alone, even though there were larger more comfortable tables available, and the main lunch rush was over, she told me my server would be with me soon, I sat for 5 minutes with no menu and nothing to drink, while the hostess polished silverware and the one waitress brought out multiple checks to tables who were finished eating, and some who weren't. Finally after being ignored for a while the waitress asked me if I'd been helped, I told her I hadn't, so the hostess came back over, and I told her I would like to look at a menu, she explained that at that time of day all they were serving was Biriyani, and that they were all different prices ($11-$16) and that she was going to have to verbally explain them all to me, so I told her no thank you, and that I might try another time This was a ridicules first experience that the owners should be ashamed of, I went across the street to a Mediterranean restaurant and had my food in the same time it took Curri to ask I'd anyone had helped me, very unimpressed!
(1)Terry J.
Tonight was my first experience at Curri. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was great. We shared a variety of curry dishes. I am looking forward to trying the buffet next time we go.
(5)Naomi T.
I have been here twice for Sunday lunch off the menu. Have never tried the buffet. There is a pretty big menu and a very nice selection of vegetarian meals. I had the malai kofta both times because it was SO GOOD, and everyone else I was with also enjoyed their meals. Don't underestimate how spicy you ask your food for! I think there's a 10 point scale, but most people wouldn't enjoy above 5 or so. Could easily share a meal and a side of naan.
(4)Sharon W.
Great food and a large variety available Only complaint is the staff was not very knowledgeable about the menu/food.
(4)Amy Y.
The food is very good and the lunch buffet offers terrific choices and alternates well throughout the week. I have a dairy allergy and the owners are very helpful (they even get me non-dairy roti as substitute for naan). I am not usually a fan of buffets but this is definitely one of the better ones and I love to support a local restaurant that serves authentic food!
(4)Juliet Y.
The interior is really nice and the naan is brought fresh to your table, but all of the buffet dishes tasted the same. None of the dishes were spicy and everything was meh. I feel like it is the only Indian buffet in town though so if you want to try all of the different kinds of dishes go ahead a go here. Otherwise stick to Mother India or Jaipur.
(2)Jesse Z.
I wasn't really expecting much going to an indian buffet in omaha but the lunch buffet actually shocked me, had enough spice, service was good, place looked nice. Only drawback is the naan, a little rubbery but don't let that stop you, their dishes are fantastic
(5)Yurika M.
My husband and I love Indian food. We went there for dinner and found out they have Sunday buffet which made me be more excited and hopeful to come here again if we like this place. We had tandoori chicken, saag (spinach) curri and butter curri for meal and lassi (you can make it at home, which I do, too. You just mix water, milk, honey and yogurt!) for drink. But they took like forever though we were the only customers that time. One server, one person who seemed to be also an employee sitting at the bar watching TV and one or two guys came out of the kitchen and looked at us and went back to the kitchen. I felt uncomfortable to be honest.lol Other than that, the server's service was fine and food and drink tasted good so I give 3 stars but I'd say I probably won't go back unless it's to-go if you asked me!
(3)Carolyn B.
I almost never leave reviews but I enjoyed the food here so much...I have to make sure they stay in business. The goat with Kadai sauce was delicious with just the right amount of hot and I do mean hot. My husband loved his chicken tikka masala. The must have ending to the perfect meal is the mango cheesecake. Oh...and the service was excellent.
(5)Mya S.
Easy to order (pick meat, sauce, and your level of spice) Friendly service. I got chicken saag with garlic naan. It was good, and I would go back to try something else... I have just experienced better flavor at other restaurants.
(3)Nicole C.
My husband and I are big fans of Indian food and this place is close to our house. Fortunately, it's also really good! We have dined in and eaten at the buffet for lunch but most frequently order take-out. Their menu makes it easy to order -- just choose the base, the sauce and the spice level. My favorite is the chicken korma medium but next time I want to get the butter chicken after reading so many positive reviews here. The portions are pretty generous and usually serve as lunch for the next day. I do wish they had meat samosas instead of just vegetable (though those are awesome). If eating out weren't so expensive, we'd dine there even more frequently.
(4)Jay D.
I love me some Indian food, and I'm a huge fan of Indian buffets. The decor of the restaurant was nice, but.... the food and service was just not that great. Many of the food items in the buffet was low or even empty, which made the presentation look "cheap". Even the sauces/dip/chutney tasted watered down. Dinner/full entree might be another story, but I dont think I can get over the buffet line to even come back. =/
(2)Kailen S.
I'd recommend this as the best Indian place in Omaha! Get the butter chicken!! I usually get it mild and eat it with naan. Any of the naans are good (plain, butter, or garlic) it just depends on what flavor you're looking for. The first time I went back in 2012 the service was really slow. BUT I started going again in late 2014 since the food was so good and they clearly made some changes for the better. Service was great and the wait staff was so friendly. They even recommended dishes when we were up for trying something new.
(5)Sara S.
I first went to Curri around when it initially opened. I wasn't blown away, and the service was beyond slow. Since then, they seem to have hit their stride, refined the menu, and serve up some really really delicious and authentic Indian food. I usually get chettinad with lamb. Very flavorful and you get large chunks of boneless, tender lamb. On this last occasion we tried the rogan with lamb--it's more of a reddish sauce but extremely flavorful. We ordered it hot, and although my first bite didn't seem hot, it definitely built over the meal so that I needed lots of water refills at the end. Definitely stick with medium or less if your spice tolerance is low. I could eat their various curries every day. We also got a chaat samosa appetizer (it's a sort of Indian street food), which is chickpeas and chutney sauces over samosas. It's one of my favorite dishes, and they did it well here. I also enjoyed their version of chicken 65. Order some garlic or butter naan to go with your meal. You will not regret it! The only miss for me was the biryani. We ordered it with goat, which had a lot of bones in it. There also were a lot of large chunks of very aromatic spices all throughout the dish that just were too much for me. I also will say that the prices here are more expensive than a place like Mother India or Kurry Xpress. But, the restaurant interior is far nicer than either of those places, so go here for a slightly more upscale experience.
(5)Erin F.
The saag paneer was not the best I ever had but I still really enjoyed it. I've been spoiled by living in places with great Indian, but so far this is the best I've had in Omaha. The prices were fair and the service was fast. I can't complain and will come back.
(4)Karina C.
Very clean and nice place. Had heard about it for a while now. Food was very good and authentic. Chicken Curri and Dal were very good. They are very flexible with the spice rating. Mine was just a little hot (2/10) so worked out perfect. Pakoras were ok. Naan was nice and piping hot. Next time I'd try the Samosas.
(3)Candi P.
I can't fly the Curri is Awesome flag yet, but the Butter chicken was good. Garlic Naan was so-so, though kind of flat. Table service was good, though could be more attentive. I love Indian food, have enjoyed it for years, but this was average to good. Dining room appeared to be the standard "as many tables as we can fit in here." Not spectacular, but passable, for sure. Perhaps another try sometime soon to confirm my initial visit.
(3)Krisha B.
Lunch buffet was pretty good. They have good iced tea. I can't find anything to complain about with the food, but I wasn't blown away. I would give them 4 stars, but the bathrooms were dirty and you could tell the dishes had been washed but they weren't completely clean.
(3)Bill S.
This was the best Indian food I've had in Omaha, since I've been here. I've eaten at mother India, tanduri fusion and jaipur. And of those three tanduri fusion is the only one I went to a second time. But Curri is better than all of those, reminds the wide and I of the Indian food we used to eat in Vegas. We started with the chaat samosa and the mixed vegetable pakoras. Both were great, the pakora batter was light and flavorful while the vegetables still had a nice bite to them mushy like some other fried food. The chaat was delicious, but the size was small for an appetizer. For dinner we I had the lamb chettinad, and my wife had butter chicken. Both where excellent, the lamb was tender and the chicken was juicy. We will be backfor sure.
(4)Heidi W.
I've literally tried every Indian restaurant in Omaha and found NO ONE that can make Chicken Tikka Masala the correct way until I found this place. Restaurants have either made it too sweet or too bland or they are completely off and it looks nothing like what it should look like (sorry Mother India, Chicken Tikka Masala is not blood red, it is supposed to be creamy orange.... nor does it have big chunks of green bell pepper and onions in it, also Chicken Korma is not pink either, just so you know). I've mostly gotten my food to go but have eaten in once and service was fine, to be honest service can be crappy and I will be happy as long as they keep making their Chicken Tikka Masala like they do, I was beginning to lose all hope for getting decent Indian cuisine in Omaha.
(5)Sarah G.
Go for the $9 giant bottles of beer. Skip the Mulligatawny. I'm getting pickier about Indian food these days it seems, but sometimes I don't feel like driving across town to get to my favorite place. Yet Curri will do in a pinch if you're looking for a decent curry in Midtown Omaha, and on our most recent visit I found both the menu and service to be improved from the first time we visited, shortly after opening. It seems that pricing is in line with every other Indian restaurant I've ever been to as well. But I'd still say it's a decent value. Turns out I can even overlook the misspelled restaurant name (a pet peeve of mine) because everything we sampled was really decently flavored. Spinach pakoras were especially tasty, and I could've done with about 50 more of those to start. My recommendation would be to skip the Mulligatawny though, unless you're into the more brothy, less creamy version (I am not). Others at the table seemed to enjoy it though. Several varieties of Naan failed to disappoint, and the dishes (lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala) were tender cuts with plenty of sauce. Mango lassi went down quite nicely too. Rice was... rice. Probably the most happy surprise about this trip was the bar. I'm not sure if they've expanded but I do know the drink menu was improved (spicy Curri Mojito anyone?) Mixed drinks, wine, and the aforementioned large beers in Kingfisher, Flying Horse and other varietals.
(3)Christy S.
Omg so good! How did I not know this place existed?! So so good. Nice price, but still a nice restaurant. I'd go back more if I lived in that area still. But def one I would recommend and I already have!!!!
(4)Shaunita J.
Went there a week or so ago with a friend. We came in and there was a big noisy kid's birthday party and the owners and staff were clearly a bit overwhelmed by them. At the end of the visit, the owner(?) was quite brusque with us during the payment process (seemed put off about technology issues and cranky when asking us if we wanted a receipt, as if it were an inconvenience if she had to go get one). I want to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she'd be a bit more gracious. At some point, I saw one of the same woman chew out an adult who seemed to be letting kids go crazy near the door. Good for her, that shows she cares about the restaurant's presentation. Anyway, we walked in and were seated at a table. The server took our drink orders and sent us over to the buffet. It was Saturday, around lunch time. Not sure if they have a full menu, was never offered it. I actually am still on the fence about buffets--I can't eat very fast and never seem to get my money's worth. The tables, the buffet itself were clean and the presentation was fine. There were a few meatless options and the meatless ones seemed to have chicken. There was even a dessert option. I had naan, one of the saag dishes and chana masala. Whew--that chana was spicy for a buffet option. Not so spicy that I can't eat it, but I tend to think of buffets as being watered down, and that was not. The food was flavorful. So, not bad. Again, there was a party going on, so I feel like I had to flag the server to get refills on drinks. It was pricey for lunchtime buffet in my opinion. And, since I'm not a buffet person, it might not have been the best return on investment. I think there's more variety in the buffet at Flavors and it's roughly the same price, so I think I'd go back to Flavors first. But, if you're in the area and looking for a solid buffet, this wouldn't be a bad choice.

Best Indian food in Omaha hands down! Prices are very reasonable and they also take Passport. All of the chicken dishes are moist and lamb is fabulous too! The menu options are unlimited and the buffet is constantly changing with new dishes. Love it all!!

My husband and I tried Curri for the first time last week at the recommendation of a friend. I went in with pretty high expectations and was pleasantly surprised. As with most restaurants in Omaha, they are located in a strip mall, but have done a good job of creating a nice, but casual environment. Open floor plan but you don't feel like the tables are on top of each other. Our waiter greeted us immediately and recommended the tamarind margarita. We ordered one of those, a glass of wine, and vegetable samosa to start. Samosa was great, as was the margarita which had just enough uniqueness to make it interesting but not overwhelming. For our entrée we ordered the chicken korma and goat vindaloo, both a spicy level of hot. The food was very good, spiced well- a little milder than expected- but not bland. The korma was very creamy; I didn't like it quite as much as I do the korma at Mother India, but still good. The goat vindaloo was definitely the favorite. We paired both with garlic naan which was flavorful and warm when it arrived. Also ordered another round of drinks that included the chile mojito which was refreshing but had a kick. Service was great, waiter was very nice, and portions were bigger than normal. My only complaint is that it is a little pricy- we have the Passport card which helped- but for 2 rounds of drinks, an appetizer, 2 entrees and naan, plus tip, we were at about $100. Not crazy, especially since we really enjoyed it, but not cheap enough for just a quick meal out.

I love Curri! Best in Omaha... In fact, I travel all the time and will not eat Indian food anywhere else because nothing can compare to how amazing it is. Love the pakoras and veggie samosas, the vegetable vindaloo and aloo gobi is fantastic. Very accommodating for vegan diet! Staff and owners make the overall experience unmatched!!! You must go!!!!!

I went here for lunch. The buffet was a great variety and the food is labeled so I know what I'm eating. I really love how they have vegetarian options and a range of "heat" options. I like the music played and appreciate the clean environment. I would like a carafe of water as refills were slow and would like to always see gulab jamun as a dessert option offered in the buffet. I will come back all the time. Like the groupon coupon!

I'm trying to find someplace with good Indian food here in town, and this is the second place I've tried. I was excited to see they have a lunch buffet- but sad they only had white rice. Unfortunately, the rice was really poorly done the day I went, but whatever. A couple of the dishes on offer that day were pretty tasty.....but, they were also really pretty buttery, and mild on spices/flavor. Maybe they tone it down for the local market here? (In fact, I would say it's watered down, but to be accurate, it's more like it was "buttered down".) Still, it was better than some places. I was really craving papadum, and went to ask since it's not on the buffet. The hispanic waitress didn't know what I meant. But the owner lady was really really nice, and said she'd have some made up right then. In fact, that's one of the reasons I'll be going back ~ aside from wanting to taste their chana masala. The service is good, and I just had a very pleasant vibe from the owner lady & her father. =D

Good food...terrible terrible service. Debatable if I will come back. Waitress was rude and deliberately ignored me.

Very yummy dishes. Both my wife and mine tasted fresh and rich. Wished we ordered more bread. Service was okay but lady was training another so fine. The decode was open and this was a big plus for us. My wife commented on how comfortable the booth was. We'll go back.

1st time diner at Curri today. Lunch buffet had plenty of hits and not really any misses either. Chicken Bhemsik(?) was frickin' crazy good! Wait staff was competent; never saw a dirty plate on my table when I came back with more food. I've been back a couple more times for the buffet. Another visit was flawless; several great dishes to stay excited about and nice variety of items. And yet another time (Oct. '13) they got hammered over Friday lunch (every table was full), and they ran out of over half their dishes. They struggled to keep up. New dishes trickled out over a 10-15 minute period, and, while they were all good, it was kinda stressful wondering whether we'd be able to finish lunch in a reasonable amount of time. Clearly they're a popular destination for lunch buffet, and I hope they get the kinks worked out. Being crazy popular is a good "problem" to have. ;)

Excellent food! Both spicy and sweet dishes are very tasty. Reasonably priced and packed nicely in boxes for take out. Definitely a place I would recommend for those looking for yummy indian cuisine

This used to be my favorite Indian restaurant in Omaha. Not anymore. Went for lunch today and the food was ok but nothing great. There was very little indian spice and it was all bland. Also not hot at all. White rice, not basmati. I was very disappointed. I heard they are under new management but they should have kept the cook. I wasn't impressed last time I was there about 3 weeks ago but I thought it was an off night.

A Lunch Review of Curri: One could certainly not be blamed for meeting the news of another Indian restaurant opening with an extended yawn, especially when that restaurant is wedged somewhat awkwardly in a strip mall on 74th and Pacific Street in Midtown. However, a spicy and satisfying delight awaits anyone who breaks their prejudices long enough to try Curri for their afternoon lunch excursion. Walking inside, the décor of Curri might be startling. Whereas comparable Indian restaurants in town offer the assumptive spread of Hindu deity posters or provide no decoration at all, Curri provides a clean and trendy aesthetic that doesn't feel forced or overdone. It's uncomplicated blend of white, black, glass and wood serves as an excellent backdrop to the vibrant colors and tastes of their generous weekday lunch buffet. Sitting in large metal warming trays next to a bevy of condiments, Curri serves their twist on the usual Indian buffet classics - Tandoori Chicken (roasted chicken with spices), Saag Paneer (spinach and cheese in curry sauce), Aloo Gobi (cauliflower and potatoes with garlic and ginger), Mixed Veggie Korma (vegetables and cheese with coconut milk) - but with the lineup changing daily, visitors will get their mix of sauté, stew and fry one way or the other. A noticeable omission, however - in three visits to Curri, a biryani (a rice-based dish of vegetables, meat and spices) was not available in the buffet, though most competitors offer at least one during lunch. Curri does serve several biryanis for dinner however, believing they are meant to be experienced on their own. But the reason to lunch here is not the selection; it's for that twist. Everything in the buffet line at Curri consistently yielded rich and sensual flavors that will no doubt awaken even the most deadened of eaters. Of particular note: the Baingan Bartha (stewed eggplant with tamarind in a rich sauce) was a particular standout, along with the Mixed Veggie Korma and the Dal Makkani (lentils and beans in a tomato stew). The Tandoori Chicken was superbly juicy and fell off the bone. Tying the whole meal together, the fresh-baked and buttery naan bread served tableside was perfect for mopping up the thick sauces and smoothing out spicier bites. Calling out the headliner of the Indian buffet, the Chicken Tikka Masala, Curri's take is a great one: tender cuts of chicken, slowly cooked to perfect yield and bathed in a creamy tomato base with just the right amount of heat and depth. Comparing to other Indian restaurants in Omaha, Curri's fiery orange-colored masala was heavier, richer, and with a more noticeable smack of pepper and cumin than others. If you have put off Chicken Tikka Masala in favor of discovering alternative Indian dishes, it is worth a revisit, because Curri does it well. Dessert was also expectedly good. The rice pudding was fragrant and loaded with pistachios and the vermicelli was sweet and chewy with raisins. However, with the entire buffet only costing around $10-$12 with tip, the price of lunch might have been the sweetest thing on the menu. Final Bite: While the opening of another Indian buffet may feel old-hat for the Omaha lunch scene, the vivid and sultry flavors of Curri reinvigorate the jaded sensibilities, providing arguably the best tasting in the Hyderabad-influenced mix of zesty vegetable stews and chicken tandoors for lunch. Pair that with the welcome yet elegant atmosphere, and one has the makings of a fine afternoon eat that encourages savor and pause.

When I was nine years old, I was scolded by my mom when she caught me experimentally licking a block of salt lick for horses that was being sold outside the entrance to our local Pick N' Save. In reality, there was no need to scold me since my body almost went into shock from the extreme saltiness of the salt lick. From that day, I learned my lesson around this potentially dangerous combination of sodium and chloride and how it should not be consumed in high quantities. Why am I telling you this silly story? I came to Curri during the first week of operation when the buffet was going on all day. I thought this was great because now I can try several dishes and really see what this place had to offer. Normally I judge Indian places on their Chicken Tikka Masala (CTM) and with a stroke of luck, that was one of the items in the buffet that day. Score! However, this is where my good fortune ended... My first plate had a combination of pakora, some small pancake things, biriyani and some other veggie dishes. The pakora and biriyani were too dry and not flavorful. This isn't something you can blame solely on the fact that I'm eating from a buffet because I've been to other Indi-buffets with excellent non-dry food. With the first plate being less than satisfactory, I decided to dive right into the CTM. It looked and smelled nirvanically yummy. With the expectation of redeeming that first plate, I shoved that piece of creamy pink CTM into my semi drooling mouth.... ......... Munch munch.... ........... ????????????????????? I suddenly found myself recalling the time when I was nine licking that salt lick.... Why? Because this was no joke the saltiest CTM I've ever put in my mouth. Not even the naan or rice were able to neutralize the NaClsplosion that was happening in my mouth. I was actually confused and decided to try another piece of CTM. Same result... Then I thought that maybe I'm sick and my tongue is just way off... so I asked another person with me and he thought it was too salty too!! Let's just say the rest of the dishes that I tried after the CTM were too salty or just flavourless. But here is the kicker. I asked to see the dinner menu and the prices were NOT what I expected!!! The interior is nice and casual, but I will not pay $14 for CTM and then extra for naan or rice?! I then realized that it was good that I got the buffet because I would have spent almost $20 on a salt dish that I wouldn't have been able to physically finish without putting my body into shock. I will say that the owner was super nice and when I explained that the food was too salty he said he will talk to the chef and take that into consideration. And if there was a saving grace for this place, it would be the naan. I thought it was VERY fresh, hot and just the right amount of crisp (which is totally subjective)... but other than that, I'm not sure I will be back. I did notice that they serve dosas here so I might go back for that, but definitely not getting any of the soups or my beloved CTM. In the end, I felt bad for dragging my friend there because he didn't like any of it and I ended up paying for both of us. To end this review, I want to share a phrase from a magnet my mom put on our fridge and I can still vividly remember what it looked like. It was given to my dad after some surgery and it remains a good reminder to us all. "Halt salt" I'm sure your doctor would agree.

Best Indian food I have ever eaten. We shared three dishes tonight. One lamb; one chicken and one vegetarian. We really liked all of them. Already planning a noon time buffet trip so we can try even other dishes. The service was great and the seating comfortable and the noise level made conversation enjoyable.
