A little late getting caught on on reviews and this is an older one but I can still vividly remember Cunningham's. There is some wonderful when one can find good bar food in a bar/pub and grill; when the food is transformed into a level beyond "bar food", the experience is very magical. The smoked wings were amazing and MUCH better than most deep fried - I can only think of one or 2 places in town that can compete. I also at the brats bites - PERFECT size, great flavor, well presented and just that extra level to detail that separate Cunningham's from others in the category. I am looking forward to many more visits and exploring the menu a little deeper.

I ate lunch in here on a Tuesday in August. It seems like this place got the food right and the beer selection right and everything else wrong. Service was friendly and attentive, but then they weren't that busy and had plenty of staff on hand. They kept my iced tea full and that keeps me happy. I ordered the Pepper Burger. It was very good and made with fresh jalapeños (I'm am so tired of pickled and canned jalapeños everywhere). The burger was cooked to somewhere between a medium and a medium-well. That was refreshing. I get tried of being handed well-done burgers and almost no one asks how you want your burger cooked. Pretzel bun complimented it well. I opted out of the red pepper aioli (just fancy restaurant talk for flavored mayonnaise and I detest mayo). Overall, an excellent burger. It was served with homemade potato chips which were good, but not really warm. Generally, bagged chips are eaten at room temperature and homemade chips are eaten hot as they should have just come out of a ~375° fryer. My brother ordered their Sweet-N-Smoky Burger along with their Sweet Potato Waffle Fries. He liked both. My brother-in-law got their Patty Melt with Fries and enjoyed it. I had heard good things about their wings, but at 6/$7.50 and 12/$13 I couldn't get anyone else at my table to commit to trying them with me in addition to the cost of our burgers. Maybe some other time when everyone is feeling more spendthrifty. The menu and the food definitely come off as high-end pub food (gastropub even), but the décor, the way the wait staff dress, the atmosphere, and everything else about this place just screams, "bar" and that really makes it hard to swallow their pricing. For example, their burgers, at lunchtime, run from $9.50 to $13.50. I have a hard time paying $13 for a burger in this place. It's a tasty burger, but this just isn't where I want to sit and eat a $13 burger. My brother and brother-in-law, who are both much cheaper than I, definitely thought it was overpriced for the experience. I may be back if I find myself near Old Mill at a mealtime, but I'm probably not going to go out of my way to eat here. It does look like a decent place to drink some craft beer, but I was here for a weekday lunch and had to go back to work after.

Their newer location is big...almost too big. I'd only been to their previous location a couple of times, but liked the atmosphere better. Aside from that...what I really went for was the reuben. I had lunch there on St. Patty's Day, and although the crowd began pouring in, our service was pretty spot on! The reuben sandwich was simply delicious. I like how they shred the corned beef, then mix it together into their homemade thousand island sauce, then put it on the bread. Sure to get lots of dressing with each bite which makes it super moist. I also ordered a corned beef and cabbage dinner to go. After the great rueben I was pretty disappointed that evening when I opened up my dinner to find undercooked cabbage, a large cabbage core and corned beef full of gristle. Unedible. I did however enjoy the rueben for lunch so much that I went back the other night to have it for dinner. Very tasty. We ordered the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream for dessert. Sounded great but it came out fried which was not stated on the menu. Not a fan of fried food...wished I had known in advance. I'm sure I'll be back again...likely for the rueben!

I was pleasantly surprised by Cunningham's. It's located in an unassuming strip mall tucked under the expressway in Old Mill. Add in its generic Irish name and you have the type of place you honestly wouldn't expect to be much more different from, say, a place like the Fox and Hound. But I had heard rumors about them having some excellent wings. So I got there and, first off, was highly impressed with their beer selection. Dozens of crafts on tap, including a high ABV sour (which, of course, I had to try -- it was superb). For food, I ordered the peanut butter and jelly wings, which were essentially PB-battered fried wings that you dipped in a jelly sauce. They were honestly a little skimpy, but hey, some chickens are bigger than others. Big props to our server. He knew we were crunched for time as we were heading to Westroads to see a movie post dinner. I arrived a little later than the rest in my party and he promptly took my order as soon as I had a chance to browse the menu, and my wings and beer showed up in matter of minutes. Seriously, stellar service from the staff, especially considering it was a busy Friday night. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some other items off the menu. Plus, Cunningham's has earned a spot on my list of places to stop for a quick beer or two when I'm out and about.

Everything on the menu seemed to be fried (minus salads) or greasy (basic pub food) and I wasn't in the mood for that so decided to get the blackened chicken sandwich, which was apparently off the menu but then brought back on after customers demanded it- which is a good sign that they actually listen to what their customers want. Also had the soup of the day, Cajun cream chicken. Both the soup and sandwich were good. Not incredible but still pretty tasty. The soup was spicy and not as creamy as I expected. The sandwich: chicken was still tender and I enjoyed the chipotle aioli on it. The pepper bacon was a nice touch but I could've done without it. Service was great. Waiter was very friendly and attentive. seems like a great place to hang out after work or watch the game as they have several big screen tvs around the restaurant.

Cunningham's is located in a small strip mall on Dodge. From the outside, it doesn't really catch the eye and even has its main entrance on the side (a little odd). The interior is a modern take on American pubs, and has the standard TV's with ESPN on. There was also a monitor near the entrance that seemed to be showing a bingo game. Really odd. There was also a random upside down bicycle and a plastic santa lawn decoration towards the back. Again, quite strange. The food however, was delicious. My colleagues and I all got the cajun chicken soup and the blackened chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The soup was a little spicy and had a decent amount of chicken it it, making it a great start to lunch on a cold winter day. The blackened chicken sandwich was great, with moist, tasty chicken on a bun that wasn't overly greasy. The sweet potato fries came with what appeared to be powdered sugar on top of them. I thought this was a bit weird but it ended up making the fries taste pretty good. Overall, the portion size was just right for lunch and was satisfying. My table was about to get the PB&J wings but decided that the sandwich would be enough food after the waiter offered his 2 cents. I would come here again for lunch.

What sets Cunningham's apart from the other bar and grills in town is the food and the beer selection. Now you may find some place with better food. You will even find places with better beer. But I'm not sure that you will find some place with excellent bar food as well as an excellent beer selection.

Stopped in for dinner tonight, first visit. I was happy to hear Sunday is all day happy hour. The happy hour menu is lacking. Only a few items and $1 off house wine and well drinks. There are 1,000 better places for happy hour. I ordered a reuben and upgraded my fries to sweet potato fries. My reuben was amazing. The sweet potato fries had a smidge of powdered sugar. It worked well. The portion of fries was tiny. Fries are cheap, don't be afraid to pile them on! My fries were not hot either. I probably won't return. My food was good but it didn't have the wow factor to bring me back again.

Haven't really tried the food but the beer options are great! Even get a flight and sample other beers that they rotate out every week. Downside only came when we felt like we were putting them out just because we were still there around 1 am on a Friday night.

Outstanding quality of food and service! A little noisy at times, but most bars and grills are.

First of all, where the hell are the amazing cheese sticks? How could you take them off the menu? They were so delicious and cheesy and just all around good. One of the reasons we come in here is those golden sticks of heaven. I'm disappointed. I've been coming to Cunningham's for years and have always thought and recommended it fondly. I can't say that I will after today. While the beer selection is still superior and wonderful, and the staff is friendly as always, the food was no where near what it has been in the past. Previously I felt you were paying premium price for premium food. I don't think that's true anymore. We ordered pretzel bites. There wasn't even enough cheese sauce to luxuriously dunk my diced up pretzel bun. Which is what it was, a diced up pretzel bun. My po' boy completely fell apart and the breading on the trout wasn't crispy at all, and the fish was slightly over cooked making it impossible to eat my sandwich without a fork and knife. An order of onion rings consisted of maybe 8 onion rings that I'm pretty sure come in from Sysco frozen. Although still good food, its not the Cunningham's I've come to know and love. As someone in this industry I understand and can appreciate a business's decision to change chefs and move in a new direction but once you get the numbers aspect firgured out could we maybe head back to the glory of amazing food, a place I can't shut up about, and a wonderful memory where everything is on point?! I'll come back again, because the owners are kind and care about there business and I support that within itself. But, it just won't be for awhile.

Cunningham's is consistent stop for us for lunch due to it proximity to our office. It is a good solid restaurant variety of tasty items. Not to start a huge chicken wing war, but I am big fan of their wings. They are grilled, meaty and have no breading. That being said, I tried the "devils dust" and was not a fan. They are the hottest they make... but it wasn't the heat. When they say "dust"... they aren't kidding. They apparently take the wings, cook them and then cover them with a spicy powder. Some bites were like pouring a powder directly into your mouth. I definitely prefer a saucy wing to that. Next time, the four alarm. Friends had the Reuben and the Cheese steak.. The Reuben is a favorite but it is a little different if you are a purist. They ingredients a blended like a chicken salad. I have grown to enjoy this more because it evens out the ratio of ingredients.... so you are not getting one bite of just meat, or kraut or dressing. Probably not for everyone but I enjoy it. The cheese steak was good but not great. Friend who ordered it is a cheese steak lover and orders them everywhere.... so I will take his word! Service was good even though it was the lunch rush and the atmosphere ok. This place suffers from the same issue a lot of the newer restaurants and bars have... noise. The solid floors, metal roof and bare walls have no sound absorption qualities....so noise kinda bounces around. Nothing crazy but it is noticeable.

The service is ridiculously slow. For real. Our server is walkin as slow as possible. *She seemed to pick up the pace. We had a ball here. We were probably a little too loud and we probably embarrassed the Johnny Depp lookalike, but it was a great afternoon. A few of us had the Lobster Po'boy. It really wasn't my favorite. The lobster was borderline over cooked and the sauce (unsure if it was a remoulade or aioli conception) really did nothing for the sandwich. It had no flair, no kick, no "holy shit, that's a good sandwich" factor. The beer flights were super fun. I totally recommend the Fruli strawberry beer. I mean, I can literally taste it right now. Its 9:00 a.m. and I really feel like I need to have one. Cheers to the weekend!

Service is incredibly slow. We were one of two tables and didn't get out beers for like 15 min. They do have a pretty good beer selection. I love that they have Peace Tree on tap. I got a southwestern salad, it was pretty good and the portion size was pretty large.
(4)Brian K.
Great beer selection and really fast service. Guinness stew was really thin and not worth having. Fiancee's sweet and smokey burger and sweet potato fries were really good though.
(3)Ben T.
I'm giving them 4 stars but I'd really like to make it 3.5 stars. It's a decent place, slightly above average bar food.

The entrance is so strangely placed they need real estate poke in the ground signs to point it out... It's on the side And it's unadorned and insignificant. Felt like we were sneaking in. Once inside the floor is nicely done and the place is clean and smells good. There are the standard and large screen tv's for decor..a bar that stands by itself in the corner .. feels like the decor is not quite done. We're got good service...but we were early on a Saturday night ..there was only a large group of bicyclists who were outside cooling off with drinks and a smattering of others inside. This was our first visit....but we'd heard a lot about the place... The burgers were better than most sports bars...and my wife really liked the chicken sandwich. Most fried foods are beer batter fried so if you're not a beer drinker...less choices. The nachos appetizer was really good...all four of us liked it... flour tortilla chips was a surprise and you need your fork to dive in. We weren't there to drink but the waitress kept us plied with lemonade and Sprite... which is always appreciated. There are some interesting choices on the menu compared to other places so we may stop in again when the timing works out... but the place is a bit pricy for what you're getting...but a lot of places seem to be in the same range now. The Chipolte bbq sauce is mild and pretty good without too much heat. I guess if I want a really good burger I'm still inclined to go to Wendy's ... but if you're here for the beer I have to say they have a fabulous selection...Lots of great choices...

Went on a Friday night for fish. My bride and I both had the fish and chips. We were both happy with it. Good atmosohere. Good service. Great craft beer.

I heard about Cunninghams from clients and about the time I decide to go they closed to move to new digs. So after a long wait I pooped into the new place tonight. It is still a work in progress. Although nice enough it is still not fully decorated and finished. But I did not come for the decor. I wanted to try several things, and I wanted bar food. It was taco night, so a chicken taco was first up. They use flour tortillas for both hard and soft here. I ordered hard and it was delicious. Well seasoned chunks of chicken garnished with lettuce and tomato. That's it. The nachos were also made with flour chips and were just awesome. The house-made cheese sauce is so good. Fresh jalapenos added fire. I am starting to think Omaha is a nacho town. I'd put these up there with Kathy's Nachos at Nettis and the Aztec Nachos at Stokes. The chicken wings here are smoked and then grill finished. They are a real treat, and vastly different in what you are probably used to. I loved them as well, and only wished for a little more grilling time. There are many many beers on tap including local selections and occasional tap takeovers... always a bonus! : )

I wanted -- I SOOOO wanted -- to like the peanut butter and jelly wings. But, alas, it was not to be. To me, they kind of tasted as though someone cooked chicken wings, and then slathered some Asian-esque peanut butter on them and sent them out to me. To be fair, a good friend (who is also a server there) LOVES the wings as did the rest of the table who finished off my order. So I'm obviously in the minority. But allow me to be the voice of caution -- if you have any hesitation about the PB&J chicken wing concept, it's probably best you avoid them. There are plenty of other delicious things to try! You've been warned.

I'm very much between 3 and 4 stars for Cunninghams, but ultimately it's about the food, so I'll round up to 4. Cunninghams just has really tasty food. It's not particularly fancy, but it is satisfying, fresh, and (mostly) well prepared. The best thing I've had so far were the Grilled Wings, PB&J style. Large, tasty wings, smoked and grilled (not fried, yay!), and with just the right amount of peanut sauce with jelly sauce for dipping. Note: this is not just peanut butter and jelly. The sauces are well prepared and have some nice heat. Very much an Asian peanut sauce idea. The Ribeye Philly I had on the same night was also really good, but I wasn't up to eat much of it after devouring most of the order of wings! The Sweet Potato Fries were waffle style, crispy, hot and delicious. Oddly, they had powdered sugar dusted over them. Haven't had that before, but it wasn't bad. Another visit I had the Coconut Shrimp Salad(I freaking love coconut shrimp! Love it!), which was tasty, but had an overabundance of toppings for the amount of lettuce. I ended up with just a bunch of cheese, nuts and dressing in the bottom of my bowl at the end. It would have been much more satisfying with just another handful of greens to balance it out. My husband Brian had the individual pizza with sausage and pepperoni both times we ate here; he enjoyed it that much. He has basic tastes, so a good, solid pizza and some good beers on tap is pretty much what it takes to make him happy. So, all that said, why am I wavering on the four stars? Atmosphere. This place has pretty much, well, none. Concrete floors. Dark interior. One big box of a dining area with a bar on one end. TVs playing reruns of Nebraska Football(really? rerun sports?) in July are the "decor". Mostly high bar tables with cheap, spindly little stools. So, yeah. It's a bar. A cheap, unappealing, loud, uninviting bar. I shudder to think what the old location was like if this is what they came up with for the new location. Our service was passable on one visit and above average on another. Nothing great, nothing awful, so I don't add or subtract anything for the service. Overall, if you care more about food than other elements when eating out, Cunninghams is solid. If you would like a little something extra, like something on the walls or covered ceiling ducts, this place isn't for you.
(4)Dan M.
Best wings I've had in my short time in Omaha. Good atmosphere to watch sports, big screen TV's all over in this place. Staff is nice and prompt in my experiences here.
(5)Michael J.
Not quite sure how this place stays so busy.. The beer is on the pricey side, but in their defense they do have a solid selection, if you're looking for something different. The sides and appetizers were delicious, and are the reason that this review got up to three stars. As for the entrées: have a beer and some fried apps here and then move on to another restaurant. The Italian chicken wrap was just OK, and the two burgers my friends got were not. The toppings were fine but the meat itself was dry, bland, and overcooked. My other two friends got the buffalo chicken sandwich and enjoyed it (which makes sense, as they seem to make good fried food and the chicken tenders were tasty). I had a fried appetizer combo, chicken wrap, burger, two pints and two 10oz beers, and a bacon Mac and cheese up charge (WELL worth it.. The Mac, like all the sides, was great), and my total came out to almost $70 for my girlfriend and I, including tip. The ambiance, and certainly the food, were not worth it. I'll be back only for an exotic brew and some beer battered appetizers.

Great food. Everything I have tried is good. Reuben sandwich is the best in Omaha....and the burger is not far behind.
