Worst experience I've ever had at a midtown restaurant. The hostess informed us when we got there that "if you don't have reservations, we make you wait." The majority of the restaurant was empty, but there we sat with our little buzzer in hand. The service was absolutely horrible. Rude bartender who couldn't get our drink order right, and the waitress acted like we were a thorn in her side. I got the fajitas, and couldn't even eat them. They weren't sizzling when they came out, and I never got tortillas. Do yourself a favor, steer clear of this place for another year until it goes under and somebody buys it who knows how to run a restaurant.

After experiencing poor service for drinks and appetizers at nearby CAVA we came here for dinner and had a great experience. Although it was dinner hour we were seated without a wait. The server was timely and the food and drinks were delicious. This is definitely a place we will return!

Dined here this evening. Service was great, prior to this visit we had pretty slow service. Salsa is super yummy, some of the best I have had in town, queso was pretty good too. Pretty good happy hour, friends enjoyed the margaritas Had the fish of the day (grouper) with rice and asparagus. Grouper and asparagus were overdone, rice was undercooked.

Not good by most taste bud measures. Just O.K. The menu didn't really make the food sound great, so we decided to share a combination fajita. There was very little meat, but that's fine, because the flavor was off. I asked for four dinner plates for the four of us and they only brought three. When I asked for the fourth plate the waitress said I could eat off the plate the tortillas were served on. She seemed friendly enough and I don't think she meant to be rude, but it's still unacceptable. I have to say the bartender was very friendly, personable, funny and oh yes, handsome too!

The location is great for this restaurant. I work in Midtown and frequently come here for team meetings. The most recent experience I had was amazing!!! Our waiter was the best I've had anywhere. I can't think of what his name was, but I'm sure I'm not the only one to praise his customer service! He was on top of things and made some great guacamole! Besides my awesome service, the food is great. I love their chips and salsa! I do wish they had more options for vegetarians. But I just tried the spinach and mushroom enchilada and it was great!

We came in during happy hour and waited for about 15 min before someone asked us if we've been helped. We were told that we could not get the bar happy hour food unless we sat at the bar, so we moved ourselves there (nbd). The service was still slow even though there were two workers there. I ordered the pollo taqueria. Great presentation but the chicken was on the dryer side. We also ordered the ahi tuna tacos. They were excellent just like what other yelpers had said. My daughter had the chicken tortilla soup. She didn't like it very much though. She did enjoy the free chips and salsa, however. Overall, food was just ok. The service was not very good and it wasn't until this server, "Adam," walked into the restaurant that things perked up. Adam's attitude alone gave this place an extra star.

This place did not disappoint me given the fact I new what I was getting in to. Their queso is not the best, and their tortillas are greasy. I've had the guacamole that they make in front of you before and its not the greatest either. I tried the Mole enchiladas this time around and they were dry. The service was nice and the place itself has good ambiance and decoration. I just wish the food was better. A gigantic plus it has is that it's in Midtown Crossing so they are pretty much guaranteed clientele daily. I am not a huge fan of Crave right next door either, but if I had to choose, I think I'd go with Crave.

I keep going back and forth between 4 and 5 stars, but I'm giving it 5 just based on the manager's action. I've been to Cantina Laredo 3 times. The first was for a yelp elite party, the second time was on Valentines day, and the third was tonight. Feel free to check out my yelp review, I was beyond impressed. When I went on valentines day I got a server who was more than just a little pushy. He made me completely uncomfortable and even stupid at times the way he talked to me. Both my husband and I were really put off by this. I ordered an enchiladas, one chicken, one cheese and onion. It came with rice and beans also. They were to quote the manager "pedestrian" and tasted like something I could gotten at taco bell or the freezer section at Walmart. The rice for both mine and my husband's food was a bit dry but the beans were good. Thankfully I have an amazing husband who swapped dinners with me so I got the beef fajitas. AMAZING. The female manager happened to walk by and ask how I liked my food and I had to be honest. Not only about how much I disliked my enchiladas but about how much I disliked my server. She went and got Marcus (general manager) who came out to see me. I think Marcus and I have a good rapport after the yelp event. He told me I should have called him out to say Hi and that he totally agreed with me that the enchiladas were lack luster and pedestrian. He said they are changing the sauces served on-top (which I confirmed tonight they have) and he gave me 2 free meal coupons and a free guacamole coupon to come back and try them out again. It was more than I expect to be very honest. Skip to tonight I spend all day cooking so obviously I don't want to cook my own dinner (so silly). I decided to try out Cantina Laredo again. We get there and they are not busy at all, I dunno if it's because of Lent or the "snow storm" we are getting right now. Freakishly we got sat in the same spot we did last time. I had bryce (spelling?) for my server tonight who was amazing! He kept our drinks filled, our chips and salsa full. He even gave me extra chips to take home so my husband could take some to work. Of course this time I asked if Marcus could come out and say Hello. He greeted me and even though the coupons said up to $15 free meal, he said I could have whatever I wanted, my husband also. On top of that he offered us free drinks. My husband got a margarita and I got a non alcoholic thing that Adam whipped up for me. Who I add is STILL the MOST amazing bartender ever. Seeing him again was worth going, he just brightens up your entire day. I ordered what my husband had last time, the costillas con fajita. It's a new item on their menu and It's GREAT! You get served 4 ribs covered in tequilla bbq sauce. You get a full portion of fajita meats, guacamole, sauteed peppers and onions, sour cream, tomatoes, and 3 or 4 warm flour tortillas. (they also offer you corn if you prefer). Normally this dish is served with both beef and chicken fajita meat but I asked for all beef. The chicken is great don't get me wrong but the beef is top quality! This is saying something as I NEVER eat beef because it's too tough and icky for me, any place that can make me want to eat beef.... hats off to you. On top of this, we also had guacamole prepared at the table by Bryce and it was okay. It wasn't the best guacamole I've had. I think it could have used more lime juice and I had to add some salt to it, but it was still very yummy. Oh and before I forget to mention, you also get all you can eat chips and salsa. They serve you two types of salsas. A warm "spicy" kind that is the best and not actually spicy, or a cold green salsa that is kinda icky. My husband ate like 3 bowls of chips and they just kept them coming. HAHA I took a piece of tres leches cake home with me and It doesn't really seem traditional at all, but you need to appreciate it for what it's worth. It has this mango topping on it that I dislike so I scrap it off. The cake is light and moist and yummy. I will say it again though, PLEASE put that pistachio cake we had at the yelp event on the freaking menu. I would come here once a week just to order that. All in all I paid $17 (including tip) for my dinner tonight because Marcus hooked us up. They went ABOVE and beyond to make up for my last experience, Marcus, Adam, and Bryce were just amazing. Best part is I have half my dinner in the fridge for tomorrow's lunch and half a piece of cake for breakfast... yeah don't judge me. ^_^

It surprises me that this place only has 3 stars. I go hear for Taco Tuesday's a lot and it's always really good. I've been hear a few times for dinner as well and the service seems to be always great and guacamole is fresh as its made right in front of you :). I guess the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the drinks are expensive in my opinion. But go try the steak tacos you will not be disappointed.

Walked in... no one was in here except for one group on the patio. I should have known then that this place was not going to be very good. I wanted to walk out. But I didn't. I sat down and read the menu... nothing seemed that great. I decided I wasn't going to order anything lol. The person I was with.... didn't want anything after taking a look at the menu... but we decided to get one entree and share it. Free chip and dip comes to the table. It was pretty good. It is not cold salsa... it is cooked. Before ordering we asked the waitress if the food was good. She WAS so convincing. I JUST KNEW it wasn't going to be great. So I asked about a few entrees... she said "They are wonderful, a burst of flavor... " and all these other things that made the food sound like a slice of heaven. I actually let out a little chuckle because I just had a strong feeling that she was over-talking the food. Ordered the fajitas .... (the waitress said they were marvelous and to die for)... well, you get the smallest serving with four tortillas. Barely any steak. Chicken was an ok amount. Onions and toppings... very small amount. Food was not seasoned well. Just was an average meal. I do not like upscale Mexican food... I will not try this again. When I am eating upscale... I just wish I would have went down to 24th street and got the real deal! The bartender who walked by our table was very nice!!!

Our first experience here was actually quite good, but today... you should see the look on my husband's face when he heard a disturbingly loud crunch from my mouth, WHAT WAS THAT?! After I spitted out the rice on a plate and picked out one of the little rocks I just crashed/chewed with my incredibly strong teeth (years of eating crabs and small walnuts without using any tools but my own teeth)... so I picked it up with my fingers and presented it to my husband in front of his eyes, and dropped it on the plate, when he heard the "ting~", WHAT WAS THAT?! "Well, they didn't rinse the rice enough." I said. The waiter was scared and called over the manager whom to me was frustrated/ashamed and in some kind of denial, "I don't even know what that is... The rice we bought is pre-cooked." he said... Oh okay, now you're telling me the rice is not freshly cooked... I asked him to get rid of the rice from my plate and they heated it up and brought it back. They didn't charge us for the dish I think and we still left the waiter a tip of 18% because it wasn't his fault. The dishes we ordered were all looking so pretty (as you can see in the pictures). Some of them were actually yummy -- fish taco, quesadilla, and ceviche. Now, you might be surprised that I wasn't so surprised by the accident, and I told my husband, they're lucky that I have strong teeth. We asked for two more glasses of iced water just so I could gargle the "sand" off my teeth... Back in 1980s China, we kids were very proud of helping our mothers wash the rice which was quite a tricky skillful task to accomplish -- we use our little sensitive fingers and sharp eyes to pick out the little rocks hiding in the rice, when you add in water in raw rice, stuff you don't want will automatically float up, like rice bugs... rinse, drain, rinse... and finally hand over a pot to our mothers contains the perfect measure of the water matches with the amount of the raw rice judged by our intuition... and when you don't hear one single noise of the "crunch" over dinner, it means you succeed and you are very trustful. Then more than a decade later, my mom brought home a bag of rice labelled as "no rocks guaranteed" -- the same day I lost my "proud job". That is why I wasn't surprised. However, seriously, it's 2015, matha faka! Thanks for bringing back my sweet childhood memories though.

I ordered the fajita tacos and it is fresh guac, grilled chicken and cheese. The chips and salsa are fresh and taste fabulous. I went to happy hour for $5 premium fresh margaritas. The service was prompt and included fresh chips and salsa with my to-go tacos too.

Lovely atmosphere. The server was a bit pushy and obviously trying to upsell us on anything he could. I liked that there were unique vegetarian options. I had artichoke enchiladas which were tasty! Also had a few margaritas during the tail-end of happy hour. I would definitely come here again.

Will definitely be back again. $2 Bloody Mary and it was one of the best I've ever had. The complimentary chips and dip were very good. Their salsas had amazing flavor and just the right amount of heat. Fiance and I ordered the chorizo and shrimp empanadas as an appetizer and they were fantastic!! Great flavor and cooked perfect. I had the ensalada cilantro y pollo and was also fantastic. The dressing was perfect and fresh ingredients. Fiance ordered cheese enchiladas and they also were fantastic. I guess the one word to describe this place would be fantastic.

As usual, my fellow yelpers did not disappoint. This place is in a great area with a great outdoor seating area when it's nice. My friend and I came on Cinco de Mayo so I was kind of expecting the service to be slow, which it was. Our server Adam recommended the Carnitas Sliders. I thought they were great. I expected a bit more out of the drinks though, but that's because I consider myself a true drinker. My friend had the house margarita frozen and she said it was "okay". I had the cinco de mayo special margarita which I also thought was ok. So for round two I tried something off the regular menu thinking my drink may have been watered down because it was one of the specials. It was about the same for double the price. Overall the wait was 3 stars the drinks were 3 happy hour prices 5 stars service with Adam 5 stars and food taste was 5 stars but the portion was lacking.

One of the few times yelp reviews have been completely inaccurate. The service was amazing, the food was incredible and the drinks are fantastic. Highly recommend anything with the Chipotle wine sauce! They also have a second happy hour at 9pm with $5 margaritas, $4 wine and beer specials (don't remember those prices). Take the time and visit this modern Mexican restaurant for a new take on old favorites.

Second time and my last. Waiter was horrible. Ordered queso for an appitizer. It showed up with the meal. Sorry they had to go get some more queso. The molle sauce was unedible. Repalaced with just plain enchaladas they didn't have any flavor. Wife ordered a side of sour cream, it showed up after we were finished with our meal.

The food was OK, our waiter, Aaron, was awesome! He had our two kids help make the guacamole. There were time we wondered if he forgot about us, but overall he did a wonderful job. The guacamole is awesome. I would say fajitas are the better item we ordered.

My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the hostesses who were working the night we went in were less than helpful. We asked to be seated on the patio, they said there was no room on the patio, even though we had just walked by it and there were in fact several available seats at the "fire bar". We had to take them out to the patio to prove it to them, when they finally told us we were allowed to sit there. That aside, the food and drinks were great. We visited during happy hour, enjoyed a couple of discounted margaritas, LOVED the chips and salsa that they serve you upon sitting down, as well as a couple of the happy hour appetizers. Would return for happy hour again when the weather is nice because they have a great patio.

This place is nothing like the flagship restaurant. There were only 3 tables full when we arrived, took 10 minutes to even get acknowledged. Asked for queso dip ($8.25) for a half scoop that was not even brought out until after we got our meal. We wanted it to go with the chips. The waitress never returned asking if we needed refills on our water and tea. Portion size so small that there was literally 6 bites of enchilada on the plate for $12.95. What type if restaurant only serves 1 enchilada for a meal? My husband could not eat 1/2 of his meal because if the spices. No explanation as to why it was that way. When the bill arrived, we had another charge that was not ours. Spoke to the server, she stated "well you just ate tacos." Told her we had enchiladas and asked to get bill fixed, took another 10 minutes. Then she hovered around to make sure we were leaving a tip. Very poor service, quantity and quality of food and prices are very high. Won't be returning to this restaurant, better places in town to eat Mexican food.

Really great food & margaritas!! Great atmosphere and location, terrace is amazing on a sunny day..the tableside made guac was delish and worth the price..everything was fresh n tasty The only downside was the service was slow, we was left for over and hour after our food..although the manager was amazing about it and gave us two drinks on the house The Benito's trio is a great dish

The best part is the terrace dining inside the Midtown Crossing ring. The complimentary chips and salsa are a hit . My nachos were good, and my friend liked the enchiladas. I would describe the food as "light" Mexican. It is fresh, not too heavy, and well-presented. The outdoor dining is a pleasurable experience.

Parking was okay. I walk in... No hostess? Kinda a ghost town in there but a server did come a minute or two after I arrived?!? How did they even know I was there I wondered.. Lol. Okay so the chips and salsa in the very beginning was really really great! STAR! I was happy to start out with. Then they made guacamole right in front of me! Another star for them! Cute restaurant and clean bathrooms yet another star!! Then my main entree came out the first time I went there I got these steak nachos and they were okay the only thing that kinda concerned me was the meat was kinda shiny :( I looked passed It I guess.... The second time I went there my entree was enchiladas.... Me and my friend planned to share them they just seemed a little small... It was okay. Honestly it wasn't authentic enough for me and I had higher hopes.... Maybe if I'm in the area I'll go again but it's not like I'm going to text all my friends begging to go with me... Mediocre at best haha. I am adding to my review today cause the food was just so good today! It tasted really authentic and the guacamole was on point! I had a virgin margarita that was very flavorful! Thanks Chris! :)

This place used to be pretty good. We dropped in on Easter, late afternoon after a nice walk in the area on a beautiful day. Looked like the only place open. Had to ask bartender where to sit...No hostess? The service was reluctant to say the least, and so was the atmosphere. Dead, half the lights not on...no music...just a bunch of pissed off employees A smattering of customers there... Our waiter took a long time to even come by, obviously not happy to working on Easter....and then we made the mistake of ordering guac! Yikes! He made it at the table making an awkward situation WORSE. We almost canceled it but even THAT would have been worse, WE SHOULD HAVE LEFT AFTER WE WAITED TO BE SEATED AND FOR OUR WAITER TO SHOW UP.... Food was OK. Not anything special. Signature cocktail nothing special and not cold. Never Again which is a bummer..great patio and guac. Never again!

A group of 7 of us came in around 5:30 on a Friday during Happy Hour and we were seated outside on the patio, we were all given the "large dinner menu." We asked our server, Rose, what the happy hour drinks were she handed us a small black menu and said they were in there. We all ordered drinks from that menu. At the bottom left hand corner of the small menu it stated that it was 1/2 off Platillos del Bar & Taqueria during Happy Hour. When Rose came back to take our orders we all ordered Taqueria's but when we ordered we pointed to the items on the "large dinner menu" even though we had asked about the Happy Hour specials. When we got our bill we were charged full price for everything we ordered! When we asked about it she said we had to have the special menu, which we thought we had? She said she could talk to the manager but we were already late for an event that started at 7:00 and we had already waited long enough to even get our bills. When she came back with our cards after we paid, she got frustrated with us when we were trying to help her sort out the cards for each person, she just set them down on the table and said "here you figure it out" and then left. I ordered the Tacos De Fajita, the meat was tough and I couldn't bite through it and it tasted fatty. I was not impressed. I had really looked forward to trying this place and now that I have, I will probably never go back. So far I have not been very impressed by any of the restaurants in Midtown Crossing.

Upscale Mexican, totally delicious. I've visited several times & have always enjoyed each meal. Table side guac is irresistible (after you've watched them dice some ripe avocados add handfuls of fresh ingredients, how could you not devour it all!). I'd recommend the fish tacos & the roasted pork torta w/ the apricot marmalade. Devine! And they are strong supporters of the military, police & civil servants. Can't wait to go back!!

During our cross country move, Omaha became a spot to get some shelter and rest -- especially considering the tornado warnings and torrential rain in the forecast. =/ We walked into Cantina Laredo because it was next door to our hotel and with low expectations because of the 3-star rating. Soooo...Surprise surprise... It's not "authentic" Mexican. In fact, it's probably the most modern Mexican restaurant I have ever been too. Probably best described as having a high-end NYC nightlife atmosphere with amazing drinks and even better food. The margaritas were fabulous! I'd recommend the ginger mint mango rita. The torta de carnitas comes with two eggs sunny side up glazed in this delectable apricot spread. Phenomenal! I would highly recommend this spot for early happy hour, dinner, and or night cap as the bar has happy hour specials on drinks from 9pm to close. We'll definitely come back again--if we're ever in Omaha!

Hung out at Midtown Crossing for another dinner since I am staying at the Element Hotel. Black Oak Grill last night, Cantina Laredo tonight. Another great dining experience. Started with a couple of awesome margs at the bar while we waited for a patio table, beautiful night for outdoor dining. We sat by a fire pit, beautiful night. Ordered the table side guacamole, which is what the hotel manager recommended. Very impressed. We ordered a large combo fajita: beef, chicken and bacon wrapped shrimp. Again, very impressed. Our server, Jennifer, who was great, convinced us to try the apple pie. Served in a sizzling skillet with a brandy butter sauce and cinnamon ice cream. Sweet!!!!!!!! So in a nut shell: great margs, great table side guacamole, great fajitas, great apple pie, great service by Jennifer. Need to make sure I thanks the hotel manager for his recommendation the last two nights. Look forward in returning to Omaha.

I'm not sure what the staff is doing here, but it sure as hell isn't working. To start the hostess took forever to find me a table in a nearly empty restaurant. My water was never refilled and a food runner (another server) literally dropped my plate in front of me and performed a hasty about-face before I could utter a word. I had to wait 10 minutes with my entree until the manager came and I could ask for spicy salsa because my meal was bland as shit. My server decided to come around another 10 minutes later. The food was nothing to rave about and it is overpriced. The restaurant could have potential... maybe the enchiladas veracruz wasn't for me and there are better options, but I will not return to find out.

This place is great if you are looking for different drinks, fresh tasting food and quick service. But if you are looking for culinary genius, please lower expectations. This is one of those places that is what it is. While they really try hard to fancify some of the drinks - if you're not into the sour / dry style - this isn't your place. This is my second time there and by far my favorite part is the table side guac. Beyond that, the food is good. Just doesn't energize those taste buds that require a little ingenuity to be woken up.

I was here over the weekend as part of a large group. And, I have to say, I went in knowing that it wasn't going to be super authentic, grade A Mexican food, and it didn't disappoint. (Or, do I say it did disappoint? Whatevs.) Anyway, we had a large group, so I get that those can be a headache. Oddly they didn't automatically add the gratuity to our bill, like a lot of places do? We had to do the tip ourselves. Anyway, first of all, the food: The salsa served with the chips was actually decent. I'd try it again. And, they hand made the guac at the table. But, guacamole is one of my least favorite foods (it's so mushy!) , so I passed on it. Others seemed to like it, but I can't vouch for that stuff. People around us were well-lubricated by the time the guac finally showed up (more on that later), that I can't tell if they liked it, or were just buzzed and starving. A number of us, knowing it was a kind of cheeseball wedo-pleasing place, assumed that they would at least do tacos well and ordered a variety of tacos. There was a diversity of foods on the table, people had salads and some other things. But, I'll focus on the tacos since a few people on my side of the table had them. Fish and beef taco a like, were a bit greasy and soggy at the same time. I didn't know that was possible? So, there was a lot of wet goop on top and the meat was oily, so it was at the point that I felt I might be better off eating with a spoon. The rice and beans that accompanied the tacos were a bit on the salty side. And, I heard salty being mentioned about another dish (the fajitas?)... I realize that, as a former Cailfornian, I might be pickier than most, but I feel like if you can't get tacos and fajitas right as a Mexican restaurant not named Taco Bell/Taco Bueno/Taco Mayo/Del Taco/Taco John, then what are you doing? The alcoholic drinks were a hit all around, so it seems they do that well. But, the customer services leaves something to desire. In the two hours we were there, I think the server asked if people wanted water refills once (mind you, we're eating this salty food). And, even then, I am not sure everyone's water was filled. In the time we spent waiting to be asked about appetizers and making that order, I think we never got more chips? I think someone had to ask for more chips and salsa. It took a fair amount of time for them to ask us about appetizers. And, they were pretty slow about getting the check to us. So, if you're going for a drink, you're probably good. Otherwise, I'd say try one of the more authentic places in South Omaha.

There are so many more veggie options now and they are fresh and flavorful! Their drinks are also out of this world good. I love the table side fresh-made guacamole and the staff are all so friendly and accommodating. I'm a huge fan!

I was excited when Cantina came to Midtown Crossing and visited for the first time soon after their opening. I don't say this very often, but I've never found a reason to go back. I found the food to be overall very unimpressive, lacking flavor, and for the quality of food that we received, way overpriced. My husband ordered their chile relleno and parts of it were frozen in the middle! As I said, usually willing to give places a second chance, but was just so disappointed here.

Couples night out and decided to do Tex-Mex at Cantina Laredo in MidTown Crossing. We had reservations and were promptly seated upon arrival. Service was attentive and fairly quick. Chips and salsa are served for the table. Two (2) different types of salsa. Both are tasty with the lighter colored salsa being the most spicy. Appetizers: Top Shelf Guacamole - Made fresh at the table serves 2-4 people. I am not fond of guacamole and I still found it pretty decent - rest of the table loved it. Ahi Tuna Tacos - Mini-crispy tacos with sushi cut Ahi tuna, chipotle aioli, jicama slaw and guacamole - Absolutely delicious, great taste. Love to make this my meal instead of just having as an appetizer. Cantina Laredo has a good menu selection and is also doing a three course price fix meal. Two of us ordered from the menu and the other two ordered from the price fix menu which is three (3) courses for 17.99 (Soup/Salad, Entrée, Dessert) Main Meal: Enchilada de Avocado -Avocado and artichoke enchilada topped with tomatillo sauce on bed of spinach - Wife really liked this. Pescado del Dia - Saturday night, the fish of the day was Salmon - Our dining companion said this was good as well. Tacos de Pescado - Mahi Mahi with marinated vegetables, queso fresco and chipotle aioli - Dining companion said this was okay, but the Ahi Tuna Taco appetizer was much better. Camaron Poblano Asada - Grilled steak around poblano pepper with shrimp, mushrooms, onions and monterey jack cheese, on chimichurri sauce - I found this to be tasty and filling. Dessert: Mango Tres Leches - A tasting of creamy vanilla cake with mango cream sauce - Very good A good evening out. Definitely will go back.

Went here on a Wednesday night and sat at the bar while I waited on my fiancé. Was concerned that I wasn't going to have many options for food as I was on a special gluten free diet at the time which made dining out difficult. To my surprise Cantina Laredo had their menu mark with what dishes were gluten free. I was also happy to discover that the free chips and salsa they provide at the beginning are also gluten free. Had a vodka sunrise and the fish tacos both of which were delicious. The Chipotle Aolli on the fish tacos was amazing. I already like this place but the fact that I could have a good gluten free meal made them even better in my opinion.

Excellent service. The food was mediocre, at best. The chicken tastes as if it were not fresh, and the portions we're extremely small for the price that was being charged. I would not recommend eating here.

Absolutely will return!! This was my first trip to Cantina Laredo. We went on a Sunday and were pleasantly surprised that they have 2$ brunch cocktails (Blood Mary and Mimosa). The drinks were wonderful, not those watered down bottomless drinks at some restaurants. The food was also great. The two dishes we ordered were the Tacos de Fajita and the Tacos de Barbacoa. The portions are not huge which is refreshing. Also, the complimentary chips and salsas were pretty tasty. The location is a plus as you can eat here and then see a movie across the street or just walk around.

Ate here recently with a group of friends as we were excited to try their happy hour. Although I was overall happy with my experience, I'm going to share my first big disappointment first: happy hour pricing. We all each ordered the house margarita that is listed on the happy hour menu for $3. What an awesome price for a full size margarita! However, we should have known it was too good to be true as when we got the bill it listed each margarita as being $5. When I asked the waiter about this, he stated the $3 margarita Happy Hour special is a tiny drink, so they don't even ask customers which they prefer, they just bring out the big one. While I think $5 for a good margarita is perfectly fine price wise, I am very unhappy that Cantina Laredo would false advertise their prices in this way. I think if they are just going to give customers the $5 margarita during Happy Hour, then they need to change their menus so customers aren't expecting the cheaper price. The nachos and salsas were good. I loved the warm salsa--whatever it was, my friends and I devoured it pretty quickly! I ordered the chicken tacos from the Happy Hour menu. They were half price and came with three tacos and no sides. But I believe it was only $5 or $6--overall a great value, I felt. The tacos were delicious and filled with the perfect amount of chicken and other fillings. I would definitely get these again! My table seemed very happy with their food. A friend had the fish tacos and said they were just alright, but other than that there were no complaints. Again, my main complaint is the price they advertise, so I hope they do fix this soon as I feel it is in false pretense.

BAD SERVICE!! came in today and every patio was open around Cantina, they would not let us sit there. The hostess acted like we were stupid for even asking. Told us that they didn't have staff for outside, it was 12:30 and the restaurant wasn't busy at all, so they definitely had enough staff to help us. Manager was sitting in a booth and not helping at all. We sat at the bar and the bartender greeted us by saying" what do you want to drink?" This place wasn't busy at all, I wonder why. I am from Denver and the Cantina there is always busy and has great food and service! We left and went next door.

We have visited this spot many times and usually go on date night or to celebrate something special. On our most recent visit, the food and service were exceptional. We ordered guacamole, margaritas, beer, Enchiladas Veracruz and Chipotle Chicken Fajitas. You could tell the ingredients were fresh, it was cooked perfectly and it was served very promptly. Everything was so well done that we made sure to tell the manager. We would recommend this spot if you are looking to have a great dinner at a fair price and great service. Their table side prep of the guacamole and desserts give it a little something extra as well.

When we first got there, we were brought two bowls of salsa and chips. My fiance said that the chips could have been saltier but I thought they were good the way they were. We were almost done with the salsa when we realized that they were two different kinds (would have been nice to know.) The drinks took forever and my Margarita was ok. We ordered the Queso and it showed up 2 minutes before our dinner. I think it tasted a lot like Velveeta. I received my Chicken Fajitas with a plate of rice and beans. I had to call back the server to ask for an order of tortillas in which shethen picked up the plate with my rice and beans and they were underneathe (again, would have been nice to know.) Everyone this was really good but I was nt a fan of the rice. My Fiance ordered the Camarones Escondidos and asked for no spinach but it came with it anyway. He said it was really good despite having to pick it out. Overall the food was ok. The service was a little slow and not very helpful.

REALLY good happy hour deals here... half off of about half the menu. I wish the food was a little better... this place is oh-so close to four stars. Service was fine, by the way. Back to the food, I had their appetizer nachos. They were very good. The chicken was excellent and all of the ingredients were on point. The other item I had was some kind of shrimp and goat cheese flat bread concoction that is on and off the menu from time to time. This one had sweet, tart, earthy, salty, crunchy things to entertain the palate... but needed spice. I added there salsa and it worked. Their complimentary salsas here are awesome BTW.

Terrible service, yucky guacamole. We choose to eat at Cantina Loredo based on the convenient location, however, next time we won't make the same mistake. We ordered the guacamole, which we sent back because it tasted like Windex. It was taken off our bill without question, and our server prepared another serving that tasted the same. I'm not sure if it was a batch of bad limes or bad avocados, or something else, but something was terribly wrong. Also, I love guac, and it's not difficult to make. When I order it for 10$ at a restaurant that prepares it tableside, I expect the ingredients to be fresh, however, Cantina Loredo uses powdered garlic instead of fresh. Gross. Our main courses were fine, quite unremarkable, but after our server delivered our plates we never saw him again. In fact, I had time to finish eating, run to the grocery store next door to purchase a toothbrush, and beat my dining companion back to the hotel because our server never returned so that she could pay. Wow. Terrible service, gross guac!

Just had a great experience at Cantina Larredo! Not even a hint of what previous poor reviewers experience. Went on a Saturday night, called 60 minutes in advance for reservations and was seated outside upon arrival. Wait staff was very attentive and the meal came almost too quickly but at no time did we feel rushed or pressured to leave. Food was very good. Recommend the chips and table side guacamole. I had the spare rib sandwich (good recommendation by the waitress). Spicy and the right portion. The table also had the Mahi Mahi tacos and chicken cilantro salad both of which were great. Only improvement would be a greater offering of draft beers. Plenty of bottle beer selections but need more than Dos Equis and Pacifico on tap. Great atmosphere, service and food.

Extremely unimpressed with my first visit here. Last minute plans with friends wanting to try an ORW establishment in the $20 range. Service was absolutely terrible. Our server actually didn't even offer us the Omaha Restaurant Week menu until we asked. After being seated we waited for 5 minutes or so before our server came. Not welcoming us or letting know about specials just asking about drinks. I didn't know what I wanted yet so he came back with my friends drink about 10 minutes later and set in front of her and walked away. Then 5 minutes later he came back and said "did I give you enough time" in an annoyed tone. I had known what I wanted 15 minutes before but he failed to ask. As for the food, it was good but not to the level I had expected. The soup I ordered had obviously been sitting in the bowl for quite awhile as it was lukewarm and had a film on top. It was pretty good but obviously would have been better warm and fresh. Would have sent it back but our waiter never returned until after the entrees had been served. I ordered the tacos de Castillas which were good, nothing special though. The beans I will say were excellent. The rice tasted like something that came from a box with frozen mixed veggies added in. Following the meal we waited again for 10 or 15 minutes after finishing our meal for anyone to come to the table. Our water glasses were empty by this point. The waiter actually did apologize and brought out new water glasses with our check, which to me is just a waste, ha. All in all it was a poor experience and I don't plan to return unless someone gives me a gift card because I would never pay full price for the food I was served.

Consider this a 2.5 star review. Food was ok. Portion was small for the price, but quality and taste ok. The service though, slowwwwwwww. 10 minutes to be seated. 10 more minutes before I saw a server. 15 minutes for chicken tacos. They were at most 35% full. Maybe some staff were playing hooky since it was a nice spring day?

Although my food didn't taste bad, nothing I ate was great. Guacamole was bland, salsa and chips okay. Margaritas were okay. I had the shrimp enchiladas as my entree and again, just okay. Nothing was super flavorful. I'm no cheapass either but the food seemed overpriced for what it was. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in Omaha I'd rather go to.

The poor service does not make up for the pretty good food. We waited, waited, waited. No one to seat us, drinks very late, confusion at the bar, people seating themselves, everyone looking around wondering where their waiter was! The place wasn't busy enough to excuse the poor service. !Ay Carumba! No bueno.

Went for lunch with a couple of fellow traveling coworkers, and since there was a wait for a table, we sat at the bar. Our bartender was really nice, and service was great. Had to load up on coffee b/c I wasn't quite adjusted yet to the new time zone, and she never let my mug go cold or empty. As far as the food goes, eh. I had a salad and forgot to ask for dressing on the side. Turned out to be a big mistake b/c my greens were drowning in the dressing. I hate it when ratios are wrong. All in all, it's serviceable for lunch.

First off, I totally get the "Gourmet Mexican" or "Nuevo Latino" concept and I have no problem with these type of restaurants. However, this place just does not live up to the expectations. Ordered a "special" margarita - the Cabo, tasted just like any other margarita, was fairly small and cost 12.50 Next up Tacos Pastor - one of my favorites - but not here. This was a total joke. It was two corn tortillas topped with a mushy blend of some kind of marinated pork topped with canned pineapple pieces and pico. I'm sorry but El Pastor is not rocket science - put a little effort in it please. The chips were fresh and good, the warm salsa was horrible, the regular salsa was ok - all six bites of it that they bring to you. I will not be back.

We finally had dinner here for the first time, and loved it! The service was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was wonderful! My favorites were the table side made guac, the mole, and the brownie dessert. We will definitely be back!

Decent food, but not much better than you'd find at any chain Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is more upscale, and it reflects in the prices, but the flavors don't quite match up. Our waiter's attempts at humor came off as condescending, which just resulted in awkward interactions between he and our party. If we had ordered more booze and appetizers, he probably would have been more affable. Too bad, there aren't many Mexican options in the midtown area.

Lunch for four on a Thursday. We're new, so got a little crazy and ordered a few items to share: guacamole, ceviche, ahi tuna tacos, avocado and artichoke enchilada, pescado tacos, enchilada veracruz, spinach enchilada, nopalitas and confit potatoes. Here's the sitch: Service was efficient, attentive and non-intrusive. Food was presented in an interesting manner...small, interesting plates and bowls rather than large platters covered in cheese and sauce. The guac is pricey, but we were quite happy with the chunky tableside deliciousness. Enchiladas were standard size but so-so. Pescado tacos (you get two mini tacos on soft corn tortillas) were a bit bland. Ahi tuna tacos (three mini raw tacos in hard shells) were pretty tasty. Skip the potatoes...for $3+, you could make a 5 lb bag at home. The ceviche was good but quite spicy with the strips of jalapenos (I didn't mind so much, but it was a bit too much for one of my tablemates). The nopalitas was the surprise of the day. A bowl of gooey goodness - green cactus bits, chunks of corn, white sauce - a definite must order. Although the entrees did not come with a side of beans and rice, the sides (ordered separately) are definitely share size. Since it was a "working lunch" I can't comment on our total bill (or the margaritas), but you could keep it under $10/person for lunch if you order wisely (ceviche was $7+ but items were available in the $3-4 range as well). I hopped online to view their menu post-meal, but the lunch menu online was definitely not the menu we ordered from (again, I didn't have the margaritas so it's not me). It's not "amazing", but I'd go again - maybe belly up to the bar for a beverage, a bowl of their pricey guac and a side of nopalitas.

Arrived on a Wednesday night and since I was staying at the element hotel, I decided the 30 second walk to the restaurant wouldn't be a bad idea. Ambiance: Love! This place is beautiful. Newer, clean, and very modern decor. I was in love. There's a double-sided fireplace at the far side of the restaurant that was just gorgeous. Service: Great. They came by enough, but not too much. The manager also came by to see how things were going. Food: Yum. It may not be "true authentic Mexican food", but I couldn't tell. I had the chili relleno, delicious. They bring out chips and two different kinds of salsa. The traditional red which was good, and an orange salsa that tasted "warm" to the tongue and my tastebuds did NOT like that one at all. Price: Average for a restaurant like this Overall - I'd go here again if I were staying at the hotel since it's a quick stop. I wouldn't go out of my way to try this place (or it'd get 5 stars!), but it's worth the try for sure.

Great food. Their smoked salsa is my top 3 favorite salsa's in this city! Service was good, not wow, but good. They obviously are growing through a rough new open. I would certainly eat their again, and again. Great environment, flavorful food and prices are not that bad.

I LOVE Mexican food. LOVE IT. And living in mid-town, just blocks away from Midtown Crossing, to say I was excited about a Mexican place opening in our immediate area is an understatement. We decided to go on the spur of the moment on a weeknight. They hadn't been open long, maybe a week or two. My husband parked while my son and I went in to get a table. It was VERY loud. I wasn't in the mood for a really loud atmosphere so we requested to sit outside. The view outside was lovely and I enjoyed sitting on the patio. Service was very slow but they were really busy. I ordered a cocktail and when the waitress finally brought it--it was the wrong one. SHe suggested that I just keep it but didn't ask if I would like the correct drink and I never got another bc she just didn't check on us very often. I enjoyed the chips and salsa which the bussers or chip people restocked religiously. They have two types of salsa that they bring you and i did love that! We started with at the table guacamole. It was good and it was neat to see it at the table but since it was so busy, the server seemed a bit annoyed to be serving it (she had just served it to the table next to us). I ordered the chile rellano which was good, it was nothing too special. I was looking forward to some really good beans (like they have a Rioja) but they served sugar snap peas instead of beans. I was initially disappointed but they were really good. My husband had the fish tacos and was unwhelmed. My son, who is 5, had the chicken nuggets which he loved! So, basically, we were disappointed and have not been back. I want to go back and definately want to support a Midtown Crossing restaurant but with the price of their dinners, it's not a place we would go on a regular basis.

The Venue: Located in the fussy mess that is "Midtown Crossing" the first thing you notice will be the nice tidy and trendy warmly lit decor. I can't really say much other than it looks nice. The Service: There was a small wait and I was lucky enough to find a spot at the bar until the table was ready. Once seated we were greeted by a server who was extremely attentive. The service was great, but it took F O R E V E R for our food (three people) to be prepared and served; think over an hour long wait here... The Food: We had the standard chips and salsa (not bad, not great), as well as the table side guac which in my opinion was alright. I wish I could say that the appetizers were not the highlight of the meal but sadly they were :( Our entrees arrived and sadly my fish was both undercooked and a little on the small portion size side. I don't mind smaller portions so much but there was certainly TONS of rice on the plate so the seabass looked out of place. The Cost: Honestly, way overpriced for what you get. The meals would be totally reasonable if the food was good but I feel any modest amount of cash for our entree's would have been too much. The Bottom Line: The bottom line is this place has a long way to go before I'll ever return.

The Mexican P.F. Chang's. If that statement alone doesn't tell you all you need to know about Cantina Laredo, then read my brief dining notes below. The good: Entrees were reasonably tasty, despite everything else. The bad: This restaurant hums with all of the purposeful grace of a school of drunken goldfish. Packs of servers mill around in the rear. Bartenders mispour the drinks in front of your very eyes. Tableside guacamole made with over ripe (oxidized and brown) avocados. A waiter with a cold. And a lone, forlorn manager pleads his case that he's turning things around... In summary, I'm not truly offended by the place, but I am glad we paid with a gift card.

The food: It's good, but nothing real spectacular. You can find similar food throughout Omaha, often for less money. The guacamole (made at your table) was fun to watch and quite tasty. I had the Pescado (Mahi Mahi) tacos, which were good but kind of oily and hard to eat. The Ensalada de Mango y Pollo was good, but nothing that really wowed me. The napolitos (sauteed cactus) were good, but surprisingly creamy and salty (two things I try to stay away from). The menu has symbols to signify foods that are gluten-free or vegetarian; this little extra bumped their score up from 2 stars to 3. The venue: The location is great and parking is great (first 3 hours are free in the nearby parking garage). The interior was disappointing, very neutral and screamed "cookie-cutter chain." The service: Terrible. I've been to this Cantina Laredo twice, once on a Tuesday at about 7pm and once on a Friday at 12pm and both times I was only with one other person. The service was very slow on both occasions. On the Friday, it took 20 minutes just to get water. We wanted to order appetizers, but the service was so slow that we didn't have the time for it (which is astounding since we allotted 1.5 hours for lunch). If you're looking to try somewhere new, it's worth checking out. I would definitely not recommend this place to people who need to be somewhere after the meal (it's an awful place for lunch if you need to get back to work by a certain time).

Ambiance, nice. Staff, nice-ish. Menu, appealing. Interesting combinations. Execution, hmm... Not so much. The guacamole was fun to see prepared at our table but was bland. Chips were delicious!! Until you put guacamole on them anyway. Entrees were nicely presented but I would have been better off to just sit and look at it. It filled me up and I sat there, angry that I didn't just eat more chips. Again, the creativity of their menu writer who assembled these progressive sounding dishes is impressive. Not sure if the ingredients weren't acquired fresh?? Or if they lost the key to their spice rack?? But I won't be going back to find out. Adios Cantina Laredo

I try not to write bad reviews because they usually seem impulsive after a bad experience and I like to give places the benefit of the doubt. However, I've been here twice and both experiences were equally bad. The first time I went here, my boyfriend and I ordered the Crab Nachos appetizer. When it came, we both were overwhelmed by how bad it smelled that we didn't want to eat it. It literally smelled like putrid, rotting fish. I can't say I've ever been served food that smelled bad before. The taste was equally awful. After one bite, I couldn't eat the rest. When the waiter came to ask us how it was, I actually said it was gross, something I've never done before. Perhaps it was bad fish, but honestly, I think that's just the content of the food. He didn't offer to compensate us either. The rest of the meal was mediocre. The second time I visited I went for happy hour after work with some co-workers. The place was almost empty which surprised me considering it was a beautiful spring day I expected the patio to be packed. Perhaps word had gotten out about their sucky food? I asked the waiter for a happy hour menu and ordered the Casa Rita, which is listed as $3 on the menu. I asked for salt and had to send it back because there was only a little on part of the rim. The margarita was one of the worst I've ever had. It tasted like the mix had been made at 11 am that morning and had sat in a pitcher with ice all day. Completely watered down and definitely not freshly prepared. Personally, I think a Mexican restaurant should always have good, fresh margaritas, happy hour or not. My coworkers ordered the Crab Nachos (although I advised them not to) and both of them were sick that night. When the bill came, my margarita was listed as $5. I told the waiter he'd made a mistake since the margarita on the happy hour menu was listed at $3. His reply: "Oh, that's for the small margarita. You got the large." I then checked both the happy hour and the regular drink menu. Nothing about a choice in size or price indicated anywhere on either one of them (it's listed as $7 on the regular menu). The waiter definitely did not tell me I had a choice when I ordered, with the happy hour menu in my hand. I know fast food restaurants sometimes give you the larger size when you don't indicate which one you want, but at least there they list your options. What a completely shady and dishonest way to overcharge for a BAD margarita! The only way anyone would know they had an option is if they'd already had the same experience. Unless they change drastically I don't expect them to survive much longer. It's a chain and I've read rave reviews of it in other cities so perhaps it's just under really bad management right now. However, I will not be returning here. I look forward to a new, better restaurant at this great location.

I'm changing my review. The last 3 times I've gone to cantina i was pretty disappointed. Margaritas pretty much suck. The manager should go to mula to sample how they should taste. I'm done with cantina Laredo.

Very disappointing. It is apparent as a restaurant owner myself that their is little or no management here. When we got there the hostess never greeted us so we had to ask her if we can get a table. Here is a hint managers; all it takes is a " how you doing? I'll be right with you." So immediately we felt uncomfortable. Once seated we sat for 10 minutes before we actually got a wait staff to approach us. We ordered our drinks and four waters. Chips and two salsas were brought two our table but no explanation on which one was spicier, what's in them, etc...We got our drinks, (after asking where they were) but one of the glasses we requested had a soapy taste. We literally had to yell for the waitress as 15 minutes had gone by and she had never came back. Also I might add she would serve tables all around us but never ask us if we needed anything. Not trained well. When she returned with a new beer she started to walk away and we ask if we could order and to tell her we still needed our waters. At this point we ordered our food and another round of drinks. Luckily for me both my beers were cold not so lucky for my buddy. So about 50-60 minutes into our dinner we finally get our food. Fajitas. I thought they were pretty good but didn't want to ask for more tortillas because 1. I'd have to track down my waitress and 2. I'd probably wait too long for them. Again, we had to shout her down to get the bill and another 10 minutes to get our receipts back. By the way, we ask several times throughout dinner for water but only received them once we had all finished our meals. The waitress was not rude but from experience I could tell that she was not trained well. We could have easily ordered another round of drinks or maybe two but she never asked if we needed anything. It was not particularly busy but she look as if she was struggling a bit. Also, nothing was ever removed from our table with the exception of a chip basket, otherwise our plates, bottles, and drink glasses were never removed. I is apparent that this place will not be around for long if they do not improve on training, customer service, and most importantly management. Take a tip from Outback Steakhouse where the managers come around every time I eat there and ask me how is everything. At Cantina Laredo I was never even ask how everything was. Our plan was to actually stay there at the bar until we left the area but with such bad service we moved on. From now on I think I'll stick with Crave when visiting Midtown Crossing.

I love this place! The food is great. I've never had a bad meal there! We frequent at least once a month. If you go, ask for Dariann or Kristina--hands down the best servers! They treat the military awesome! Dariann always includes our kids in the making of the guacamole dip...such service won us over right away! Now, I've not had the same service from other servers...but these two are the only ones we request now! Not a fan of their bar drinks, seems to be based on who is bartending. I wish those were more consistent. Last time I went, I got a mojito, as recommended from a friend. But the drink didn't have the sugar cane I was so looking forward too.

Went here for lunch with Pukar R., I agree with most of his review. The salmon was over salted and the avocado dip...uh, 8 bucks for them to cut it in front of you, add salt, pepper and lime juice to it? Hmm. I had the beef tacos (~$6). Which made me kind of regret coming here for lunch. The beef was dry and there was no salsa or sauce for that matter that came with it. You would be much happier getting a dollar taco out of a mexican taco truck; it would've been the same size, tastes better and be much cheaper. The ambiance and decor is nice, but the food isn't even up to par with any old taco truck that that serves you better food 600% cheaper. I could be pre-judgemental with my 2-star review seeing as how I came here for lunch the week it opened. I may have to give it another shot.

We love this place so much that we actually rented out the entire restaurant and had our wedding reception here. This is as gourmet Mexican as it gets! The staff is wonderful, the drinks are pretty strong and you can't beat their salsa!!! Would highly recommend for any special event or date night. Good family atmosphere as well!

Best Sunday Brunch east of 90th Street. (And, apparently, not many realize that yet!) Have always had great service, and fantastic food. Appreciate the modern setting for non-traditional mexican food. ENCHILADAS VERACRUZ, my personal favorite. Chicken Fajita Tacos & Tacos Pastore as well. (Cheap eats!) And, I doubt there is a better tasting dessert at Midtown Crossing than the Mexican Apple Pie. I would consider this restaurant the best addition to Midtown's mecca of food groups. (Based on price, taste and service.)

Honestly, Mexican food is the last thing I crave when I'm going out. However, I've heard nothing but good things about Cantina Laredo.I first came in on a Saturday around 2pm, expecting the place to be dead and an angry server to wait on me, mad that i interrupted her quiet timne before the busy night began. I found the complete opposite. Free chips and salsa were offered and constantly re-stocked throughout the course of the meal, our server was fantastic! Charming, charismatic, whitty, and down to earth. I never thought she was just trying to sell us the most expensive item of the menu (by the looks of our table she probably assumed we weren't the type to order it :)) or that she didn't want to be there. A+! I not only got this on my first visit, but I got it again on the second. I had the brisket tacos. Two tacos with pulled beef and some light toppings. It was exactly what I was in the mood for but it might be too light for a person looking to leave with a food baby. I know there are other items on the menu for one with a bigger appetite. My friends had the chimichonga's. I thought they were delicious but I could understand how they could be on the cheesy side. The second time I came I had the homemade quac and the CAMARON POBLANO ASADA. The steak was cooked perfectly and all the cheeses and wine sauces blended together. It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. A+++! I enjoyed my experience and I tell everyone to check out this fine new restaurant and addition to the wonderful Midtown Crossing development. The prices are right, the quality of food and the presentation is good, and the service is fantastic.

As soon as I read the description, "Gourmet Mexican Food Restaurant" I can't say I didn't roll my eyes a little bit... why does everything have to be 'gourmet' these days? Some of my favorite food comes from small, obscure, family-owned and run local businesses (no surprise there). But what I'm getting at is that I believe some restaurants make an attempt to 'fancy up' some things that just aren't meant to me. Upscale Mexican food makes about as much sense to me as upscale pizza restaurants. I had a chance to review the menu online before partaking in opening night last night, and was surprised by the prices. They seemed pretty average, not in line with what I expected to be pinned to the 'gourmet' title. Though the table-side guacamole was $9.49, the enchiladas Veracruz were about $9 and tacos were $6 for two. I was a little disappointed that their drink prices were in the range of $9/mojito though, and somewhat confused on the topic of rice/bean side items. Originally I thought our server said they were complementary, but then when they didn't arrive with the food, and I inquired, he said they were side items that could feed three, so we cancelled. I'm still not sure what the deal was. Our server was very helpful, and didn't mind too much with my strange questions and jokes about their custom guacamole-making tools (which included the traditional molcajete base, coupled with standard table forks). Management was very attentive as well, and checked in several times. For opening day, they weren't too busy, so staff milled around near the electric heat near the outdoor dining area. The accordion patio doors were open to the indoor dining area, which created a nice continuity throughout the space as well. But, ultimately I base my ratings on the quality and 'wow factor' of the food, not just the theme of the franchise (with locations in 13 states as well as the UAE and the UK). My enchiladas were a little bit of a challenge, since they were served with a healthy dose of shredded corn chip strings on top. This made taking the small bites I was attempting a little awkward, and I had to result to more of a shoveling mentality (not quite in line with the sophisticated atmosphere they're going for). The staff kept the freshly made corn chips coming throughout the meal, which complemented their two house salsas nicely, and the guacamole was good, although not better than some home-made versions I've had. But the food ultimately didn't hold any intrigue for me, so I don't think I'll be back anytime soon (especially when there's a new restaurant at MTC opening every week these days). But, I could see Cantina Laredo potentially meeting the need of a niche market that we currently don't have in Omaha, it's just not my kind of niche.

I used to go here all the time for HH and raved about it as the best in Omaha. This has changed as of today. Apparently the HH food menu is completely gone and they only have a bar menu which is unbelievably more expensive than the regular menu. We were confused from the second we walked in and were never really given clarification as to prices or portion differences between the menus. On top of all this, the food was bland and the portions were extremely small compared to the price. If you are looking for a good HH food place, avoid this one.

For lunch we had: Guacamole dip: nothing special about it, they make it in front of you, and it's frickin $8!! Don't get suckered into getting this unless you really like guac. Complimentary chips and salsa were good, I liked both the warm and cold dip. I had the special that day which was Salmon and it came with steamed green beans and rice. Salmon was over salted but it was juicy. Nothing that I can't make at home, and pretty sure I can do it better. Service was excellent and very friendly. The atmosphere is relaxing and classy, overall a nice place for lunch or dinner. Omaha has some great authentic Mexican food, but if you want "Gourmet Mexican" then I suppose this is a place to start.

My experience at Catina Laredo kind of reminded me how my nights at Olive Garden go. Everything is good, until you get to the main course, which ends up being underwhelming. They start you off with chips and salsa. Pretty standard. But here you get two different kinds of salsa. Ok so I kind of liked that. We also got the guac prepared tableside. Guacamole is not hard to make, but it was cool to see our server do it. And it came out tasting great! Again the entree's were underwhelming. I had the ahi tuna tacos. A bit of warning for you picky eaters, the ahi in these tacos come raw. Let me just say, I'm from an island in the middle of an ocean, so I grew up eating fish. After a good steak, fish is my next favorite protein. So raw or not, I love ahi. The fish wasn't fresh, although I had halfway expected it to be just because it didn't look like it had been blasted with nitrogen. You could definitely tell texture wise though. The taste was good. The combination of flavors was pretty standard when working with these types of preparations of raw ahi and in that regard I was satisfied. My friend got the enchiladas veracruz. It was huge but kind of just ok. There was nothing wrong with it, it was just ok. I think the more I continue to eat at these upscale Mexican restaurants the more I realize that the best Mexican food comes from holes in the wall or food trucks. THe best Mexican food i've ever had was out of a truck near USC's campus in South Central Los Angeles. But I digress... The best part of the meal came during dessert. It was apple pie prepped table side on a hot plate with cinnamon ice cream. I looove apple pie and this was definitely a food orgasm. The cinnamon ice cream was one of the best things i've ever had. I typically don't care for desserts but i'd definitely order this one again.

I really like the menu, atmosphere, and service, but my criticism comes on general execution of the food. The pork in my tacos al pastor was very dry and tough. The avocado and artichoke enchiladas were just a sloppy mess, with what appeared to be standard marinated artichokes out of a jar. The margaritas were ok, but not for $8-9. I do love that this place avoids serving the typical mexican plate that's just swimming in a sea of beans and rice and cheese, but the food is still no better in terms of quality.

OH boy, where do I begin...First off...it looks great from outside, looks nice inside. the free chips and salsa were great, really fresh. Ordered the Ahi tuna tacos to start. They were fantastic. BUT, our server-Erin-seemed to forget our appetizer plates so I dropped some of my food on the table. :( Also, she was no where to be found to ask for plates (and I waited to eat them for a bit). Our server had no personality, not really friendly, not really happy, not seeming happy to serve us- so that kind of ruined it. We order the beef tacos-they were pretty good, nothing to write home about. Also ordered the enchiladas de pollo (chicken) and it had this bland poblano sauce on top, which we thought sounded great but had no flavor, pretty much just some plain chicken inside with some white sauce. NOT IMPRESSED. I wanted to try some place new, and I did, but our server made the experience much worse with her "bland" attitude and taking forever to run my card. (she was busy with her four tables) Then with a hurried "Have a great night" we were on our way and feeling gipped .Literally, I swear she ran by our table to say goodbye. I think the only way I would try this place again is if it were happy hour and I didn't have to pay for over-priced cheap "Gourmet" "Hispanic" food. Think I'll stick with La Mesa or El Dorado. :) Two stars was being generous.

String em up...Omaha's got a series of new, urban, up-scale restaurants. A walk around the Midtown Crossing area, and you'll spot most of the new members of this club. In all, I love the new restaurants, and really feel like they give Omaha an edge that they didn't have before. I visited Cantina Laredo with my father. We were seated outside, and served by a very attentive, although rather girl-crazy server. :) And since Midtown Crossing is bursting with hot ladies, his eyes wandered left and right as he took our order, talked to us, and brought us our food. However, it's funny how they always lock in and make full eye contact when it's time for the bill to be paid. I'm a sucker for tableside guac, and with a dash of white pepper, this guac lives up to its top-shelf namesake. In addition, the dessert (sizzling apple pie) was delicious. However, the main course, two different types of tacos, were just ok. As in I found myself finishing off the guac rather then eating my meal. They have plenty of outdoor seating, good service, and pretty good food. All in all, a nice addition to the upscale restaurant scene in Omaha.

The fish tacos were very good. My friend had the mini mahi mahai tacos which were also good. They are tapas so small but between the two of us there was more than enough. It is probably a bit overpriced but the ambiance was nice and the drinks were excellent. Our waiter was very nice but the service was slow. My water glass was empty the majority of the time and I had to ask for water anytime I wanted a refill.

The ceviche I ordered had green olives in it and the fish tasted quite sour and as if it was soaked in olive juice. When the freshness of the fish is questionable...send it back. It was terrible I had to send it back. As for the tacos... don't even bother.

We didn't have the best experience here. My wife and I visited this past Saturday and were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait. I figured that was fine for a Saturday night, but it was hardly a reasonable estimate. The wait was closer to 45 minutes, and to add insult to injury, a group of 4 that came into the restaurant 10 minutes after we did got seated ahead of our party of 2. After I pointed this out to the two hostesses, I got a blank state from one, while the other one got defensive, mumbled a brief apology and blamed the other girl once she was out of earshot. Way to be professional!I If didn't have a buy one get one free coupon, I probably would have just left. On the plus side, they did give us some chips and salsa at the bar while we were waiting for our table. By the time we got to dinner, we told the initial server that we didn't need any more. I guess they aren't used to people refusing more chips because the waitress gave this guy the stare of death for leaving our table empty and then she slammed down a plate of chips/salsa at our table before we could even get a word out....whatever...it's not our food to waste. I had some chicken enchiladas and my wife had some fajitas. I didn't think it was anything special....there's plenty of non-chain Mexican restaurants in Omaha that give you a much better value. This place is like Stokes with less character and a lot worse service.

DW and I ate here on a Saturday afternoon. I had heard nothing but good reviews via word of mouth, so we decided to give it a whirl. For a Saturday afternoon, there weren't too many people in the place. We started out with the guacamole, which is prepared tableside. Our server was very very new, so we watched as he trembled through making our guac. It was nice that we could pick and choose what ingredients we wanted, and the end result was very good. The chips and complimentary salsas (one warm and one cold) brought to our table were good, albeit not as good as some of the local mexican joints in town. DW ordered the mahi mahi tacos and I ordered the combination fajitas (chicken & steak). Everything tasted very good. The portion of fajitas wasn't as plentiful as some of the local joints, but it was enough for the amount of tortillas they provided, and, as with most mexican restaurants, the chips and salsa fills you up before your entree is brought out. DW liked her tacos, and the mahi mahi was very firm and didn't have a "fishy" taste, which is good. Would I go back? Yes. Was I satisfied with the prices? Yes. (Midtown Crossing's dining outlets are all upscale and priced accordingly, but I don't mind paying for quality food) Was I satisfied with the service? Yes. Our server was brand new, but did a great job, plus he had an experienced server shadowing him. They refilled our drinks as needed, and checked up on us as needed.

Cantina Laredo is a chain of franchised restaurants. This is not what you would normally think of as a Mexican restaurant in the United States. Nor is it really authentic Mexican, New Mexican (my favorite) or Tex-Mex food. Instead, think of it as a Tapas Bar (in the sense that you can order several dishes with small portions for sharing among your party) that specializes in Mexican inspired dishes. The individual dishes are made with high quality ingredients and nicely presented. Some dishes are quite strongly flavored, while others are more mellow.. The portions are not overly generous- since each plate will set you back $8 to $10, you could spend a lot of money if you were a big eater. On the other hand, if you want to control your portion sizes, this restaurant is a good choice. There are also a few entrees on the menu, but this is clearly not the focus of the menu. Two of us had three of the tapas plates- flautus, minature quesadilas, and mole enchildas. All three were delicious and we decided we'd be happy to go back again. Dinner, soft drinks, and a tip came to $40 for the two of us.

Location and aesthetics are nice. Wonderful outdoor patio. Food was average. I had the Tampico, which was tasty but very salty. The Mexican rice was average, and looked like they dumped a bag of frozen mixed veggies in Spanish rice then mixed it up. The house margarita was terrible, because it tasted watered down. However the guacamole was excellent!! So overall I would say it was a mixed bag, and the three other diners at my table all agreed.

Food is always yummy. My boyfriend and I ususally dine Tuesday afternoons. The last two times we had the same server and she wasn't very friendly. She never smiled and she didn't make us feel welcome. Guacamole is great but the service isnt.

I have eaten here a few times and I love it. The guac is made fresh at the table and the queso is so good. And, my favorite white wine is on the happy hour menu. The food is fresh, the waitstaff is friendly & I have never had a bad meal. They let me pick and choose my enchiladas so I am getting a variety on my plate. If you are ever in Omaha, you must check it out.

Okay...here goes. Moved here from Texas. Spent several years searching for a restaurant that knew how to make a good cheese and onion enchilada with chili con carne sauce. After going to pretty much every "Mexican" restaurant in the city gave up and started driving to Kansas City for our enchiliada fix. Then Cantina Laredo moved here. We had eaten at the one in Addison Texas and was happy to learn that they had on their menu a real Tex Mex Enchilada dinner with beans and rice, chili con carne and they even wrapped them in corn tortillas. So this is our place for Mexican Food here. I hope it has much success. Plus the apple pie with cinnamon ice cream is great. Dos Equis on tap.

The good stuff: The table-made guacamole was very tasty. Not too hot, but tasty. 2 salsas - a hot one, and a mild one. Both were good. The main dish - I ordered the steak fajitas, but everyone was pleased with what they ordered. The flan - cooked properly, caramelized - just darn good. The not-so-good stuff. Service was so-so at best. It was pretty crowded, but we had to call our wait staff over a few times, for additional orders of drinks and food, and to get our checks. It took 3 tries to get our checks right. Again, it was pretty crowded, but if you are going in a large party with multiple checks, check your check. I'll go back some time in a smaller group, and see if things are better. As it stands, it's nice to visit once. The parking was free, provided you stayed less than 3 hours. With the delays in getting our checks, we were starting to challenge that limit.

Decided to head here for my wifes birthday last night....here are the cliff notes. Very trendy, well decorated, loud eating environment, food is so so, and service is terrible. For a nice restaurant, that is attempting to be somewhat upscale mexican food, they should have the service to match. They dont!!! Not even close....we were brought to our table by a manager who sat us at a table that still had the check, money, and tip laying on it. Bill was $20 and the tip was a dime. I knew this was going to be interesting....it was a good 5 minutes until our stoner waiter came to ask my wife what she would like to drink....he didnt ask me what I wanted to drink and just left and went to get my wife's drink. Once he brought her margarita I asked him what he had on tap and ordered a beer. It came a good 5-10 minutes later. We also ordered an apetizer which was the guac. It was pretty darn good! But not $9 good, even though If you twisted my arm hard enough I would order again (if I decide to ever return) We ordered the mole enchiladas and the vera cruz enchiladas. The mole tasted a little burnt but it was ok, probably wouldnt order again. The Vera Cruz enchiladas, on the other hand were excellent!!! To top it off the waiter brought us our check, I placed my credit card in the bifold deal, when he came to pick up the check and card he then asked us if we wanted desert? Where do they find these people?

Unquestionably the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. And this is including Taco Bell. Server juiced an entire lime into our guacamole (trust me, for the serving size, this was extremely wrong). Chicken enchiladas showed up as shredded chicken in a tortilla shell, with sour cream on top and a drizzle of guac. That is it. No spices, no onion, nothing else whatsoever. Slow service, and overpriced for the quality.

We decided to try this place and give it a second shot. House Margherita..PASS!! We asked for nachos. I ASKED the Bartender if they were a PILE of nachos or like we had last time....he said "pile"....we got SIX yes SIX chips with chicken on top. GRRR!! We could not get sweetener for tea and refills on our drinks took several time of ASKING and we were seated at the bar and there was a VERY small amount of people at the bar/whole place! I did order a "patron Marg" and it was better but not near as good as any other place and 11.00 +. We wont give it another try. To many other places much better!

I read some of the reviews for Cantina Laredo "Gourmet Mexican Food" and I can't disagree more with some of you. What type of cuisine qualifies for Gourmet? Why can't Mexican Food be gourmet? I read your reviews and what you say doesn't make sense. Obviously you haven't experienced other restaurants in bigger cities focused mainly in Mexican Food. There's no authentic Mexican food in Omaha. At least at restaurants. Matter of fact there's not authentic ANY TYPE OF FOOD in Omaha. Ask anyone who is not a native of this country for the restaurant with the most authentic food from their country and you will get the: "It's almost like", "Reminds me of", "Not quite as" phrases. What we eat in The United States is the food that most fit our palates. Most of the time modify for our taste. I agree with Daniel C. Cantina Laredo didn't execute well and you can't tell when you have the first bite of what you ordered. To be Honest I would have probably given Cantina Laredo a 2-star review if it wouldn't have been for our server (Bailey). She ruined it for us. The food wasn't great or bad just OK. Cantina Laredo is your typical "cookie cutter" corporate restaurant Nebraskans seem to love. We had the Chicken Flautas and the Carnitas. The Flautas I had were fine. They also were about 8 dollars which I think it is reasonable. My companion had the Carnitas. They were OK spicy (the rub they used was a bit too much) but dried. Service was slow, very slow. I had the mango 3 leches for dessert and it was just your standard corporate restaurant frozen dessert. What really ruined my experience at Cantina Laredo was the server. I had an issue with the silverware (being unpolished and mismatching) and with the plate in which the dessert was served. The plate was just dirty with stains on it. ( NASTY). When I pointed that out to our server she took our plate almost snatching it from us in a way that our "forks" on the plate came out flying on the table. ( RUDE). Anyways I will never go back. Thanks to our server Bailey. I only know her name because of our bill She never introduce herself and she probably check on us 1 time. A manager came and ask if everything was OK to which we replied yes. I'm not here trying to get a free meal or an apology. I don't want anyone from Cantina Laredo contacting me like Blue Sushi did (They told me I was wrong on my review) or Crave. So please save your time and mine. Cantina Laredo is not "Gourmet" but there are some good "Gourmet Mexican restaurants" in the country sadly not in Omaha yet.

Horribly overpriced, the best way to eat here is to get "Two Tacos" deal off of the bottom of the menu. They are really small but were pretty good, I ate 4 and it was about $11-12. Beers were $5!!!!!! Retarded. Basket of chips was good but there were probably 12-20 chips in each basket. The warm salsa smells like vomit and taste is not far off from that . Other salsa was ok. The whole atmosphere is just strange, call yourself gourmet and then put flat screens throughout the restaurant playing sportscenter???? Really it is just average tex-mex that is about $10 per plate overpriced. My wife and I waited about 45 minutes to sit, then 15 min more at the table before anyone talked to us. Go to Hector's it is reasonably priced and way better food.

I have been a fan of the establishment since it opened several years back. First, I am a fan of the chips and salsa. They have two different types that offset each other's flavors enough to make you happy when you switch them up. The margaritas are fantastic along with their happy hour. I usually order two items off the tapas menu and it is more than enough to keep me full for the night.

Was really excited about this place until we actually experienced it. Hostesses were not friendly at the front. Then we waited about 10 minutes for someone to greet us at our table. After Miguel finally came to the table, he seemed to care less about offering us basic service. The worst part about the entire experience was the Carne Asada plate. DO NOT GET IT!!!! It is $18.00 dollars for seriously a paper thin piece of steak and a slice of tomato and 2 avocado slices. For that price, I SHOULD NOT be leaving hungry wanting Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers at Wendy's. I'm not a picky person at all but HATE TO BE RIPPED OFF with my food. This was a rip off. I was pretty disappointed with my overall experience and will not reconsider going back.

Great ambience. Omaha was so in the need of an upscale Latin dining experience and Cantina Laredo does not dissapoint. We went the first week they opened so we were prepared for some bumps in service and food quality but for the most part we were impressed. Chicken enchiladas were great. Guac is made at the table and is also great. we didnt get to order off the full menu as they had a limited menu they offered prior to their grand opening but between this restaurant and Crave, it has made mid town corssing a great night out with high end dining options you wold expect in a larger city.

The only redeeming qualities of this place for me was the staff and the mango tres leches dessert. The mango margarita was horribly dilute, the salsa was quite fetid, and the camarones escondidos was quite dry despite a chipotle wine sauce. I would go back to have the dessert, but that's about it.

Was a little leery about heading here after reading some reviews and comments about the poor service and food quality. Decided to give it a shot and was pleasantly surprised! The service was attentive and quick, we never waited for drink refills. The complimentary chips and salsa were excellent, the chips tasted like they were fresh within minutes. The entrees were also really good. This would have been a 5 star review but the restaurant was a little loud for my tastes. WIll definitely be back.

Tacos are pretty good, but some other dishes are just plain bland. Carnitas are succulent and tasty, if a little over seasoned. The tuna tacos were also nice. Went for brunch recently though and was completely unimpressed. I'm still not sure how a dish involving both bacon and jalapenos can be bland and completely lacking in spice, but they apparently have found a way with their migas. The chicken enchilada was similarly flavorless. I guess I'd think about stopping by their patio, which is nice, for tacos at some point in the future, but I sure wouldn't go out of my way.

Ate a late lunch here today with my husband and daughter. Ordered the fresh made guacamole that was very delicious! Had the brisket tacos as the meal. It was alright, I probably wouldn't order it again. I'll definitely go back to try another meal. Service overall was good. We sat by the open patio which was OK but created a lot of condensation on the glasses and dear daughter's ended up sliding out of her hand and spilling. I think it should be mandatory that they give kids 5 and under a spill proof/kids cup.

I frequent Cantina Laredo as well as the other restaurants in Midtown Crossing- I absolutely love Cantina. Occasionally we get one of the servers who clearly would rather be doing anything other than helping us, but 9 times out of 10 the service is excellent! The Queso Laredo is delicious, and if you order it without meat you get the pico with chunks of jalapeño in it which I LOVE. The General Manager, who I seriously think is ALWAYS there, is so friendly and always comes by to ask how our food is. He has a great sixth sense about when something is not going quite right at a table too-- when I ordered the ahi tuna tacos the first time I didn't realize that the tuna came raw. I tried to eat one, but I'm not a big fan of raw fish. The GM saw me picking at my food, came over, asked if everything was OK... I even said yes (it's clear from its placement on the menu the tuna is raw- my fault for not noticing) and he prodded...are you sure? My boyfriend told him I didn't realize the tuna in the ahi tacos was raw, so he immediately grabbed my plate, took it back to the kitchen, had them sear my tuna.... and the tacos were D E L I C I O U S. I have never had a dish here I didn't like, the hostesses are always friendly, I think the management is excellent and the prices are quite reasonable considering the great atmosphere and upscale menu. Desserts are great too-- the apple pie is amazing. Try to save room! I I have to disagree with a previous reviewer about taking the TV's out- we love to go catch a game at Cantina.

I have been here twice for lunch and will go again, and again and again. The price point for lunch is reasonable for lunch, especially comparing to neighboring MTC restaurants. Definitely mix and match on the tacos and try the guacamole (yes, expensive but very good! Probably enough to serve 2) at least once. If you are anti-cilantro like me, ask that the "sprinkle" garnish be left off (and out of the guac, too) and you'll absolutely love your meal.

Well, well, well...I was so excited to come to this restaurant, well I finally went today, and today will be my LAST time, so my partner and I came at opening so around 11:15am, so I would have figured everything would be fresh, and moist, and GOOD, well I was definitely mistaken, so we were first given the house made chips and the 2 types of salsa, I must say those were quite tastey, no complaints, we ordered our drinks, mango and a lime margarita, those were fine as well, for our meals I ordered the Pastor, which is spicy pork, tomatoes, pineapples, pico, and cilantro, you are given two for 6.15 which wouldn't be bad if the meat wasn't dry and a day old, but the biggest issue I had with it, is that one of my tacos had hair in it lol, omg, so I tell the waiter, he's pretty embarrassed, I wasn't mad I was really pretty much over the restaurant, but he asked me if I wanted to try anything else, so I asked what does he suggest, so he suggested the fish tacos, those were great, my partner ordered nacho al crab, which is crab meat, avocado on wonton chips with a drizzle of aioli sauce, wow crab meat should not SMELL or TASTE like fish, I understand they come from the sea, but lol fish should taste like fish and crab should taste like crab...nonetheless my partners food was disgusting, and it wasn't finished, so when the bill came due to there being hair in my food, only thing we had to pay for were the drinks,....so sorry didn't want to give a bad review, but the food was nasty and there was HAIR in my taco...sorry won't return...OVERPRICED+SMALL PORTIONS+NASTY FOOD =NEVER COMING BACK...

This was the best modern mexican fare I've had in a long time. It reminds me of La Sandia in Denver, another favorite. The location is great, the ambience and decor are warm, comfortable and clean. The service was impeccable, friendly, down to earth and attentive without being overbearing. We started with drinks and the top shelf guacamole (which you can get free when you sign up on thier website). The guac is made tableside with a choice of ingredients. It was fantastically fresh and delicious. As others mentioned, you also get complimentary chips and two types of salsas delivered immediately upon seating. The mango mojito was pricey at 10$ but was sublime and adorned with limes and a stick of sugar cane. I had the enchiladas de espinaca- spinach, mushroom, jack cheese enchiladads with a sour cream poblana sauce. Wow, they were so fantastic! There were two, and were just the right amount after an appetizer. If you are super hungry, order additional sides. My date had the Carne Asada, which I was happily offered a taste of. This was a much larger portion of food, and seasoned beautifully. The steak was tender and flavorful, and I would have happily shared the entire plate. I was very impressed with everything we ordered from start to finish, and the experience overall. I found a new favorite, and am looking forward to the next opportunity to try more of thier dishes.

First of all, this place has a really cool midtown crossing location. Don't come here expecting greasy chimichangas and such, as they advertise, this is "Gourmet Mexican Food". Honestly a concept I wasn't familiar with but really enjoyed. Would probably best describe it as a Nuevo Mexican fare, dare to be different. Sat at the bar while waiting for some friends and loved the complimentary chips and salsa. As others have mentioned, the warm salsa is really tasty. They also have free wifi and wait staff is extremely friendly. Managed personally checked on us during the meal several times which was a nice touch. There are tapas style items on the menu at great prices, somewhere between $6-$7 for most. For some reason I didn't see this on their website though. I ordered two and it was an ample meal and tasted fantastic. The ahi tacos had a great flavor and the tuna tasted very fresh. Definitely recommend giving this place a try, just make sure you aren't planning on greasy Mexican food.

Waitress was great, ambience really cool and the bartender made killer martinis. Food was mediocre at best. The chips and salsa were decent but crab nachos were REALLY fishy (canned crab maybe?) and the spinach/mushroom enchiladas were blah. I'd give this place one more shot because I want to like it. But that's it.

We've been there many times and have yet to be disappointed. The food is reasonably priced and very good. I was especially pleased with the carnitas and my wife really enjoyed the bacon-wrapped stuffed shrimp. In February we went to Key West on vacation. I tried bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp at a restaurant on the bay. It was good, but I really liked cantina's version better. Our next trip - tomorrow night!!

Spur-of-the-moment choice on a Sunday. I hadn't realized it was in MTC until my companion mentioned it. Parking was easy, and we were seated right away. Crowd was eclectic; not unexpected for Sunday afternoon. Menu was interesting; a little hard to choose. Prices were very decent, considering the atmosphere. Our waitress was new, but with a little sideline coaching, she did fine. :-) I liked the guacamole, but I think the price is more to watch the wait staff fumble with it, than to eat it. I think forks and slightly underripe avocados do not mix all that well . ;-) The presentation was good, though, and the flavor fresh... just hard to get on a chip when still half unmixed and way too chunky... I ordered the artichoke and avocado enchilada; for the price, it was a ton of avocado - I love it. The tomatillo sauce reminded me of something I had just made at home recently; I was impressed. Fajitas looked great, but I think that it is still a fajita. Meh. I don't remember exactly what the other dish was (something off of the brunch section), but the presentation was lovely. All the portions were more than we could eat. I ordered a side of beans (very inexpensive); they were tasty, but way too large of a portion for one. As was the side of rice that came with the fajitas. Sunday brunch meant complimentary Bloody Marias with the brunch items; it was tasty & well mixed. Not a very large drink, though. Lots of ice. ;-) But that is the point, I suppose. ;-) I think it would be a very date-friendly place in the evening; the booths looked cozy. It seemed like a very good "jumping off point" for a night of bar-hopping and shuttle riding. I would definitely try it again.

Great ambience and probably a good place for a good impression first date. Chips and salsa very tasty. The menu had a lot of different things and but as a a vegetarian it was a little restricted. My woman had the steak and loved it. I had the spinach enchilada and it was the worst enchilada I have ever had. It was very bland with no taste at all. I may give it another try to see if there is something else tasty on the menu but overall average from my standpoint. The desserts looked great and there was some lava chocolate cake that everyone was having but i laid off the desserts.

I thought the food was very good and well priced. The ambience was nice and lively as you might expect of midtown crossing. The one problem was the food did take a very long time to arrive. The waitress said it was because it was because there was a large party there, but I think that is the type of thing a trendy restaurant should be able to handle on a Saturday night. Other reviewers claim it doesn't qualify as "authentic" or "gourmet" (they claim it is "gourmet mexican food" on their door). After travelling, I find myself understanding those two words less and less, and find they are irrelavent to whether I frequent a restaurant. There are so many different ways a Mexican may make a dish. I think this restaurant's preperations were tasteful and refreshing. The fish tacos with raw tuna were great. We also shared some enchiladas which I recommend as well. The only not so great thing was I thought the carnitas taco was too rich (fatty pork + mayonaise sauce is too much). But, other than that I was delighted with the selection, and the price was great too.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
