I just stopped in here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. First the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. They have switched things up quite a bit since it was an Italian place. They're going for something of a rustic Southern vibe and they hit the mark pretty well. There are a lot of booths, and a several tables that surround a big bar in the middle of the space. Our server was very friendly and had a bit of a Southern twang. I'm not sure if that was to go along with the theme of the place or if he was actually from the South. He did offer us sweet tea which seems like a pretty legit Southern thing to do. I ordered the pot roast lunch special and my wife had the tomato basil soup and Black Oak salad. While we waited we were served a small hot loaf of bread along with some honey butter. The food came out quickly. My lunch came with real (containing a few lumps) mashed potatoes and gravy, a side of green beans with red peppers, and the roast itself was covered with carrots and mushrooms. Everything had a great flavor and was nicely tender. The portions were very generous, especially considering I had ordered from the lunch menu. My wife enjoyed her meal as well. Service throughout the meal was very good, with frequent refills and another complimentary loaf of bread. Prices were very reasonable with both meals coming in at only $7.99 which has to be one of the best lunch values at Midtown Crossing especially given the quality and quantity of food. I really enjoyed my lunch and am looking forward to my next visit. Hopefully they'll be around a bit longer than the last restaurant in the space.

I am really looking forward to coming back to this place. We came on a whim for an impromptu date night and were pleasantly surprised. For a weeknight, there were quite a few tables full, a good sign. The layout of this place and the art on the walls was cozy and charming. The music was a little loud, and popular country....eh, could have been worse. Our server was fantastic! So attentive, not pushy. The food was brought out so fast, it was still piping hot. There is nothing worse than luke warm food being served to you at a restaurant. I had the sirloin, my husband the pot roast. The fries with the steak were some of the best I have ever had. Steak was a little over done (my fault for not ordering medium rare) great flavor though. My husband couldn't say enough about the pot roast. Each dish was served with crunchy fresh green beans sauteed with roasted red peppers. Delicious dessert as well, a home made Ding-Dong with Kahlua whipped cream. Wow! This was awesome. For 2 dinners, 2 drinks and dessert, $48. VERY reasonable for a solid date night. My only cons were: loud music (I know, I'm old...) limited beer selection, and slightly over cooked steak. Not enough cons to keep me away. I hope this place stays here! It is another good addition to Midtown Crossing.

We popped in shortly after they opened on a Saturday. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The menu is varied with excellent options. The fries are seasoned well and there aren't too many and they were well prepared. I had a sandwich with avocado - real avocado, not guacamole. Service was great. My husband had a salad with apple slices and a butternut dressing that made the salad almost taste chocolatey - and I mean this as a great thing. We will be back.

Came in at 12:35 in the afternoon on a saturday. Waited for 5 min to be seated while two parties got seated ahead of us, one of which came in after us, the place was pretty empty so it was odd to wait that long seeing all the empty tables. Drinks were ordered within a decent time. But. .. it took about 7 minutes for the first drink, to only find out my drink wasn't prepped for the day yet. I reordered a cosmo, that took 10 additional minutes. No waters came. I basically Sat at an empty table for 20 min and watched my partner drink. Food came in about 20 min after ordering. The Food is delicious, the drinks are forgettable yet cost 9 dollars. Food is well priced especially for the quality, although at that point the server had not been back to check and i didn't have another drink to wash the Food down with. The server came back about 10 minutes after first dropping off the food, when she dropped off the food she said "enjoy"... without asking if we needed anything, she finally got us waters 40 minutes into the lunch. When she dropped them off again she walked away and didn't say one word. The food is great and i would hope the night time would be a better trip to this place. Lunch was not worth going. The service was so bad that ill never come back because none of the other servers seemed to care either. Which tells me there is a leadership problem with the place and there customer service isn't a priority and the food is. ... but food at restaurant isn't much without customers.

We headed here to check out happy hour. We arrived about 4:30 on a Saturday. Was so surprised there was only one booth of people in the whole place. Very nice inside but we chose the patio. We had AMAZING Chicken wings, yummy and a great sized order (not the usual 5 pieces of teeny wings you get elsewhere) and we had the Nacho's. They were good too. We had a few beers and the service was great. Will go back and try dinner or lunch. But for happy hour they have a great Selection and prices!

OK- so this place has alot of potential! Awesome location! Outdoor patio! Nice finishes/art inside and decent food. However! Being from Texas, one would think I would love country music 24/7...i do not! There is a time and place for the country music. This place gives NO indication that it was modeled and designed after anything country. In fact, the modern art on the wall and the clean, modern finishes suggets otherwise. In regards to the food...the Pinot Grigio I ordered gave me an immediate headache, but their wine list is not impressive at all, so I should not have ordered any at all. The spinach/chicken salad I ordered was actually pretty decent, except it kept spilling out of the off shaped bowl it was placed it. Needless to say, it was ok. My dining companions had the turkey burger and rotis. chx. They both looked good, and my dining friends finished all of it. Honestly, since it is next to my gym and a good location for Jazz on the Green, I would go again...IF they remove the loud country music!

First time to this center, first time at a Black Oak Grill. This is a good looking restaurant. They are featuring some new items on a table tent. Tried the sundried hummus as an appetizer and the bratwurst burger for dinner. They have a small but good selection of draft beers. Had a couple local brews, good stuff. Noticed desserts on the next table, too full to try one, but looked good. Will recommend.

If I could give a 1/2 star I would. We had a group of about 10 women for happy hour and had one of my top 5 worst service experiences. Our waitress was nice but took a long time to take our order- right before happy hour- which I'll get to. Sat for about 15 min before our drinks came. Silver lining- food was good- and kept ordering drinks. Bills came and most didn't reflect happy hour prices. Asked the waitress to fix and she got the manager involved. Problem solved? Nope. Could not have been ruder, more put out, or handled it any worse. Her entire rationale was that because the tickets went into the system after 6 they were no longer part of HH- not at all considering when we actually ordered. Then pretty much scolded us and finally agreed to make the changes all while whispering under her breath. Let me add one key point- this place has been near empty the three times I have been. Not surprising. It was nice knowing you Black Oak Grill- I look forward to the 4th restaurant that occupies this space.

Their Black Oak salad is nothing less than sublime and by itself a reason to give it a try. Served with a hot loaf and honey butter. The wife swears by their chicken Caesar salad. Great outdoor patio.

We stopped in for a pre-show dinner. I'm not sure what all the whiners are whining about. The walls were pushed back, opening up on a lovely evening overlooking the park and plaza. The service was spot-on. The food was exactly as promised. I had the prime rib sandwich. The bread was toasty, the french fries crisp, the meat tender. What more could you want? I think people want something fancier when the menu clearly aims at upscale pub fare. We all (5) agreed the experience at Black Oak Grill was terrific.

Was going out with my mother and aunts before the Bruno Mars concert..thought this would be a great place to grab a bite and drinks! Sat there for 5 minutes and no one came up to us...had to go grab our own menus and look for someone to ask who our sever was...then I had gone up to the bartender and asked what the specials were...He couldn't even look me in the face and just told me happy hour was over at 6...I'm not one to make a scene so I brushed it off...took another 10 mins for someone to come up and take our drink order...then we waited another 10 minutes and still no drinks...my mother pulled the manager aside to let her know the experience and tell her we were just going to leave....The manager acted like she was too busy to even hear us out!!! Sad I couldn't have the good food I read about but the service was horrible...will never go back.

Visited the Black Oak Grill for lunch during a weekday. Service was prompt, but the waiter was a little too familiar with people at the table. Food was average at best. The Spinach Salad with Bacon Vinaigrette was really bacon grease with chunks of bacon,,,very unappetizing. Salad itself was fine otherwise. Prices were okay. Too many better restaurants in the Omaha area to go back to this one.

The service was slow at first, but got better. The food was good! I had the caesar salad with salmon and the salmon wasn't overcooked like other restaurants sometimes do. I would highly deck den this place!

Really good burgers. Really great atmosphere. Free Parking in a cool neighborhood. Whats not to like? The service is really good. The place is chic and impeccably clean. The vibe is also pretty cool. This is definitely a good place to check out if your feeling like a hamburger or interesting American fare.

Went to the Black Oak Grill tonight for the first time. The ribs I had were good and the others in our party said there food was ok, but not memorable. The service however was really not memorable! Wouldn't really recommend this place.

Had the Black Oak salad, as it's the only thing on the menu if you aren't a carnivore. It was very good, not a piece left. Everyone enjoyed there meals and the entire experience. If you are handicapped, the bathroom is on the upper-upper level. There is an elevator, but it's not obvious.

Black Oak Grill was alriiight. Nothing really special. My sister and I went a couple days after they opened and the dinner menu was kind of limited. There wasn't a lot to choose from - there were your typical soups, salads, burgers and that was pretty much it. I saw some items on their lunch menu that I wanted to order (pulled pork sliders, grilled cheese, etc), but they stop serving lunch at 3. I decided on the smoked chicken and avocado club and my sister got the turkey burger. Her turkey burger was really tender and nice and I enjoyed my club sandwich. The chipotle mayo added a nice touch. The fries were soooo good, which I didn't expect at all. I don't know what it is about their fries, but both my sister and I really liked them haha Since we had a bogo coupon we decided to order dessert and got the kahlua ding dong. basically a chocolate cake w some kahlua-infused frosting and chocolate frosting on top of that. Presentation could've been way better with just a sad little strawberry sliced on the plate. I thought it was going to be more like a chocolate lava cake, but the ding dong was a letdown. More kahlua frosting would've been better and I didn't really care for the generic chocolate frosting on top. Wouldn't order that again, but would've ordered one of Bliss Bakery's desserts (which are available!). they're seasonal, so you have to ask the waiter/waitress what's available. Overall, I'd say 2.5 stars. Nothing really stands out for me, but maybe I'll come back for lunch and see how it goes.

I've never been to the other two restaurants that were in this building so I wasn't sure what to expect. When I walked inside, this place had a loft that led to the front entrance and the restrooms (hence the name of one of the former restaurants, Loft 610). The place looks cool, has a cool vibe, and is unique so it definitely has that going for it. The food, however, was just average. The cheeseburger with cheddar and brioche bun did not impress. The taste just wasn't there and the bun nearly fell apart while eating it. The fries were good though. My wife decided on the chicken parmesan over the pot roast. It looked delicious as the chicken breast looked crispy sitting atop the pasta. She commented that it was pretty good but not the best she's ever had. I guess the bottom line is that this place is like the other restaurants in the area. It's looks more impressive than it really is. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and try it again once they have more experience under their belt.

Visited the Branson Landing location twice. The ambience is perfect, relaxed, beautiful. Coctails are top notch. And the food is delicious. I have a broad pallet and prefer to eat anything but American Grill type food. But this place knows how to take a classic American menu and exceed expectations with it. Best of all is their business model. Locally sourced food and drink. Doesn't get much better.

Stopped in on randomly while in town for a wedding. Not too busy during the day (around 2pm on a Thursday). Bread was soft, served with herb butter. Can't go wrong with herb butter. Ordered a turkey burger. I asked the waiter if any sauces came on it as none were listed on the menu and I have, you know, aversions.... He said no. Lo and behold, I receive it with mayo, mustard and ketchup. Sauce overload. Definitely sauced. Burger patty was large and delicious. Meat is from Wolhner's, so go figure. Definitely did not have that sad, semi-rigid and styrofoam-y texture of the usual turkey burger served at restaurants (likely a lot of places go frozen with these guys). Meat was well-seasoned and crumbled like regular beef. Bun was toasted and spongy, except I had to ditch the bottom to avoid the sauces. Hey, I guess it did me a favor. I didn't probably need more carbs. Fries came standard. They were okay. I'm more into fries that have that old "Steak and Fry Company" thing going on - like from Five Guys or Mooyah (yes, the ones that kill your digestive tract and puff up your extremities). Not bad price-wise. Good atmosphere. Reasonable distance from others, but still cozy. Manager was earnest and checking on tables.

I have gone here several times, and have always been super please with my experience. The bread is delicious and served with herb butter to make it even better! I personally love the soft decor, and the beautiful view outside the large windows that look out on Omaha. The food is always delicious. I have been please with the chicken fried steak, and both hamburgers I have gotten. Both went well with my favorite beer which Black Oak thankfully have. I have always been please with my service and the speed of which my food and check arrived.

Eh crappy service. They took forever to greet us at the table and an hour and 15 before the food came- and it was not busy. When the food came it was cold as though they forgot it. It had potetial and may have been good if it was fresh but really disappointed in general.

LOVED this place! I had the Black Oak salad with grilled salmon and it was so delicious! The surroundings/atmosphere was super cool and fun, had tvs playing some kind of game. We also got the buffalo bites which was plentiful and plenty hot too. I like traditional wings (with the bones) and like them hot, and these were a pleasant surprise. Center cut sirloin was cooked perfectly and was delish. Also ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Watch out for the jalapeños. Forgot they were in there and they added a bit of spice for my daughter! definitely will go again!

This was a whim for my husband and I....it was our date night and we were headed to Crave but noticed in a hurry I HATE seafood so we seen Black Oak Grill....so we looked at each other and decided we will go here!! When we first walked in we were lost wasn't sure if we seated ourselves! So we walked to the bar and was greeted by Kelly the bartender and he was VERY INVITING!!! He found us a seat right away and got us drinks. The place was kinda a mess because they had just been hit by Justin Timberlake concert minutes before we walked in! Kelly didn't know where he needed to start but quickly got us rolling with drinks and an appetizer that he recommended which would be the WORLDS BEST ONION RINGS;) Then we ordered our meals and the chicken fried chicken was TOO DIE FOR! My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and it was a little over cooked for his liking but we didn't complain because he learned he needed to order maybe a little less done! I really want Kelly to be recognized on his GREAT JOB FOR MAKING US FEEL WELCOMED;) WELL DONE KELLY;)
No Vegetarian entree option? Seriously? Come on, its 2013!! My girlfriend enjoyed her meal, but remarked "Richard, I can't take you anywhere to eat, I've had it" She walked out on me, and I was left with a broken heart and the check. So I was going to give it 2 stars for the "cool", "hip", atmosphere, but for ending the relationship with the love of my life, you get 1 star Black Oak Grill. Oak trees aren't that great anyway.

I just love this place. Recently moved into Midtown Crossing and have been frequenting BOG a lot. Whether lunch or dinner, the food is great and the wait staff is always pleasant, attentive and helpful. The drinks are great: Raspberry Cosmo and the Sip and Flip Margarita are great. The food never fails to hit the mark: Chicken, steak, burgers, soup.... all tasty and just the right seasonings. Like homecooking, but only better in a cool, hip atmosphere. If you are in the mood for some comfort food, make sure you order something with their mashed potatoes. Too good to describe. Have been working my way through the menu through multiple visits and it keeps being our 'go to place." Reasonably priced, good tasty food and servers that know how to take care of customers. So glad I live close by to visit often. Don't miss the Kahlua Ding Dong for desert. Sounds crazy, but delicious while also being very light.

Horrible. It will be closed soon.... that spot must be cursed. The atmosphere looked promising, but the food was uninteresting to say the least. The roasted chicken is a small piece of pre-GRILLED chicken "breast". It came with what seemed like a whole head of broccoli (cut it up!). We were there over the holidays so we planned on sitting awhile to drink (the martini was good), but we were quickly presented the check by the waiter. Don't waste your time!

I placed a take out order. I walked in and was pleasantly surprised about the change in atmosphere and decor from the previous tenants of the space. However, the staff members were all being loud and extremely unprofessional at the bar. I am a server myself and I would never act that way in front of customers. The bartender was very nice.. He was having register problems and couldn't cash me out. I ended up getting my food for free---- and it's a good thing I did because my burger that I had ordered was cold and completely raw inside. It was almost like they had pan seared it and brought it out to me. The fries were great but that burger was absolutely insanely undercooked. I tried Black Oak Grill on a whim and I will NOT go back. Very disappointed.

I work around here and we walked down one day and stepped in for lunch. I had the chicken fried steak, and it was excellent, and reasonably priced as a lunch entree. Cheaper prices than some other stuff down in Midtown, very well priced for a sit-down place. We will be coming back here.

Met friends there on Thursday evening and really enjoyed the place. First time there and sat in the bar since they had a hightop table for 6. Our server David was fantastic, attentive and funny guy. Our table had a variety of dinners. My cheeseburger was very good. Others had the Black Oak salad which we all tried and was very delicious as were the ribs. The only reason it didnt' get a 5 is that supposedly it was Happy Hour and a dollar off the beers. We paid 5.99 for Blue Moon??? So does that make it 6.99 other times? That is highway robbery when i can go up the street to Crescent moon and get a beer and burger for a lot less that that. Bring the booze prices down and we will go back.

This was not the worst service I've ever had, but it runs a close second. Our group of 6 arrived for lunch at 11:30. Only a couple of tables were filled. We were seated and our drink order was promptly taken and quickly delivered. And then the waiting started. We waited 10 to 15 minutes to have our order taken (all from the special lunch section). The server asked if we would like some bread to nosh on while we waited for our food. We said yes and that was the last we saw of our server for close to 30 minutes. We waited and waited and waited while table after table around us were seated, orders taken, bread delivered and in some cases entire meals delivered. We sat with empty glasses and no bread. Finally the waitress checked on our table and (when reminded) brought the long-awaited bread and some refills. About 5 minutes later our food arrived - or more precisely - most of the food arrived. She was short one order (sandwich and cup of soup). She said she would be right back - which actually means 15 minutes in Black Oak time. She served food to two other tables while we waited for the missing sandwich. When the sandwich finally arrived (without nary an apology), a couple of us had actually finished eating. About 10 minutes later she checked on the table to see how the food was. By then we had all finished -- except for late sandwich guy. Being proactive, we asked for the check and, yes, it was another 15 minutes before it arrived. Even the processing of the payment was snail paced. This is not a place any of us will return to.

Well I love midtown crossing so I was interested in trying out this restaurant. We were taking my parents who aren't foodies at all so an all American fare seemed like a good choice. I was very disappointed from the start. The beer selection was odd. A few local craft beers but an odd selection. For example there was one beer from boulevard and empyrean and they were both stouts. You could get a Budweiser bottle but only a bud light draw. The menu was very limited compared to what I would expect for the atmosphere and location. It could best be described as diner food. Hamburgers, chicken fried steak etc. I had the chicken fried chicken - the gravy was bland and too thick. The chicken was ok. It was served with one sprig of broccoli. Honestly the plate looked as inviting as a cafeteria plastic tray. The space is very nice - when we went the temperature was too hot. Not planning on going again.

Not anything special. Heavy on salt, seasoning, and sauces. Therefore, doesn't have fresh taste. We had the spinach and four cheese dip, Caesar salad with chicken, and rosemary chicken. We won't be rushing back anytime soon. Service was OK.

I think this restaurant has a lot of potential but it isn't there just yet. I like the setup with the bar in between dining areas providing a darker dining area and one a bit brighter. In between is the bar with booths and tables so a variety of seating options. When we arrived, we sat at the high top tables in the bar but no one was waiting on us. My husband went up to the bar to get our drinks and by then the manager came over to apologize and the waiter moved us to a booth and the service was outstanding. We started with the goat cheese appetizer but for 2 people, it was a bit much considering how rich it is. The main entres were tasty. My husband rated the rosemary chicken as good. My salad mistakenly came out with chicken which was salty and I had ordered salmon. The manager brought a fresh salmon salad although I said I was fine eating what I had without the chicken. But I'm glad he did because as the waiter recommended, the salad was better suited to salmon and it certainly was delicious. We ordered the kahlua ding dong but found it dry and ordinary. Lastly I thought the bar a bit noisy and bustly as all the wait staff seemed pass our booth to get to the bar or the other side so the next time I think we'll choose to eat in one of the 2 dining areas. Lastly, I thought the music was inappropriate for the type of restaurant it is and on the loud side. I feel music should add to the atmosphere and be transparent but the music that night brought attention to itself...one couldn't help but recognize each song being played. I am looking forward to using the outdoors patio and fire features when the weather warms up. We will certainly return and hopefully some of the kinks will be worked out.

Phenomenal happy hour. Many choices at great happy hour prices!! I got a a fresh cocktail which I think was a berry mojito. It was served in a tall glass, refreshing and perfectly made. My girlfriend had a beer at half off. We discovered too late they have an amazing vanilla tap beer on happy hour. We later ordered the fried goat cheese and bbq pulled pork nachos. Both absolutely excellent and we will return for the nachos soon! I love when nachos are served with fresh jalapeños instead of pickled as these were. Service was attentive and friendly. We plan to return for lunch, Omaha restaurant week , as well as more happy hours frequently. I hope they don't feel the need to change anything as this is a perfect spot for after work happy hour!!

Love the interior of those place very sleek and modern with some classic touches. The view of the downtown skyline from the patio is a plus. The food was decent, but nothing remarkable. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan, the chicken breast was tender and the breading had just the right amount of crisp. However, the pasta was overcooked and much too soft for my liking. I do feel the price I paid, the portion was pretty small. The service was great! Our server was friendly and very attentive. She made sure to check in with us often and never left us without a drink. I would give this place another shot as I hear they have a great happy hour and those BBQ nachos look amazing.

For the efforts put forth by the staff and managers I throw an easy 5 stars at BOG. They have been very accommodating to my dietary needs when I have gone to events that have a fixed menu. The portions are huge and I often take leftovers home. We always get the most attentive service. Often it feels as if we are the only ones there. Water always replenished. Even when I pull a doofus move and spill a drink right off the bat, they rush to refill and clean up what I have done. Thank you very much Black Oak Grill. Great service and awesome food

First thing I noticed was the interior. Very clean and very relaxing. They even had TVs and were playing the Huskers game which is always a big plus. The food was pretty darn good. I had the Husker Burger which has a fried egg, bacon and other burger toppings on a brioche bun. I wish they would asked how they wanted it cooked. It was medium well/well done. Just a little dry but was still very tasty. The service was awesome. She was very attentive and none of us went with a dry cup.

3.5 stars. Cool atmosphere for a midtown restaurant and good service. I didn't fall in love with the menu or the sandwich I ordered. I think I would've enjoyed The Husker Burger, but was there on lunch and had to keep it light. What I don't particularly like about the midtown area is that these establishments think that everyone visiting is rich. When you're paying 10-15 dollars for a sandwich over lunch plus a drink, it gets to be an unreasonable lunch. Overall, I was definitely pleased with my experience, but think they could do better around the lunch hour. Brat

I've never written a review before, but this place deserves a five star review. The service from Wendy was exceptional. They bent over backwards to accommodate our infant with high chairs and booster seats. The food was delicious and timely. The fried goat cheese appetizer was so unique. I recommend asking for Wendy as your server! She is so positive and welcoming. I will be back, hands down. Order the frozen jack and coke! Magic? Maybe. Romantic and open. Gorgeous bar. Circular booths encourage community. Bathrooms are pretty! Sports on the TVs, but it does NOT feel like a sports bar. There's something for EVERYONE.

I never get seated this quickly. I had the Black Oak Salad with salmon. Loved it. It's a bit dark and the TVs give it a bit of a clashing sports bar vibe when the rest of the place feels a bit fancy like the rest of the midtown area. Bathrooms are clean and cute. I am glad I came here. No real complaints.

A group of us ducked in during a bachelorette party to grab a drink and get out of the snow. Even though there were 14 of us and it was 6 minutes until they closed, the server checked with the bartender and told us to go ahead to the bar and order, and that the bartender would be happy to serve us. Not only did the bar tender serve us 6 minutes before closing and split all 14 of our checks for us, but he did it with a really great attitude and was super friendly the whole time. I worked at enough bars to know that this was probably super annoying for them, but you would never know it from the great service we received.

We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and sat on the patio. Service was not good. The server was new so we have to give him a little slack. He didn't know anything about the food or have any suggestions. We told him we were celebrating our anniversary. We saw him all of 4 times. He didn't even bring our food, clear our plates or ask if we needed drink refills. I had the trout which was really good! Beware the skin is lurking under the coating. My husband had the chicken parm. The chicken piece was huge and hot but the pasta seemed like it was warmed in the microwave with the sauce on it. I would go back to try something different and maybe get a different server. The burgers looked really good.

Yep that's right! A 5 Star for BOG! What a great burger. All of the places contending for "The Best Burger in Omaha" need to check this one out! If I had to judge today, this would defiantly be a FIRST PLACE WINNER!!! However, it does need a huge mound of fries with it. I mean really come on fries are cheap, pile them on, not just a handful! I guess there's no such thing as a Basket of Fries any more! And these fries are GREAT too! Should have a Basket of them on the Appetizers! Everything everyone had was great too! I really liked the special sauce with the onion rings. I recommend trying everything! And FYI, if you ask what veggies come with the Chicken Fried Steak, you hear something like Squash or some other veggie that doesn't belong within 20 feet of a good Chicken Fried Steak! You serve green beans or black eye peas with CFS! Make sure you fix that and I'll order that next time! But no Foo Foo veggies on the CFS!!! I look forward to trying more items on the menu!

Once again, I find myself pleasantly surprised while in Omaha... a week ago, I would have said 'exiled,' now I m simply here. In any event, dinner tonight was reserved and mellow...the way it should be. TO CONTINUE... Its now January...have stopped in again.. same good vibe, same good people, same good food. Be sure to say 'Hi' to Phil at the bar, and tip well!

My wife and I stopped in an early dinner on a Friday. I ordered a Jack and Coke, the waitress mentioned they serve a slush version. I tried it and loved it. The service and the food were excellent. I had the chicken fried chicken and my wife had the smoked chIcken and spinach salad. Again, both were served with a nice presentation and tasted very good. Thanks for a nice experience. Too bad it was going to rain, would have loved trying your outdoor patio. Note to dog owners, Fido is allowed on the patio.

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a drink and lunch with friends. It was completely empty inside, there were a few people on the patio but it was quite hot outside. The service was OK, our drinks sat empty for more time than I would expect considering we were about the only people in there. My boyfriend and I split the Reuben sandwich and it was just OK, definitely not great. The fries were very salty, almost inedible. I want to like this place because of the location. Would be willing to try it again because I did like the atmosphere, it would be more fun during a busy time of day maybe.

My friend and I came here yesterday for the last day of restaurant week. We sat on the patio, and enjoyed the excellent weather. Our waitress was great and very attentive. I started with the tomato soup, which was slightly creamy and on par. My entree was the Husker Burger, which I also found to be solid. Dessert was the Kahlua ding dong, which was a little dry, but okay. I would be more than willing to come back again and try more things on the menu.

I had higher expectations. Our server was very odd, insecure/unsure would be a fitting term, just kind of a weird table presence. Stopped in for lunch the other day and had the Caesar salad and soup combo. I added salmon to the salad which was overly buttery/greasy. The tomato soup was great and I'm sure this would be good with a grilled cheese sandwich. The chicken avocado club sandwich was on plain bread, should have been on a ciabatta or something. This was just ok. Pretty restaurant inside but the food could use some improvement I think.

We stopped by Black Oak Grill for dinner on a Friday night, and although we didn't have reservations the manager Mike graciously found us somewhere to sit (we were totally ready to sit at the bar). Black Oak Grill, like many of the bigger restaurants in the circle, have two entrances, one goes out to the Turner Park Circle and the other to the smaller traffic circle across the cinema off of Harney. This makes parking a much easier situation, you can use the stalls that line Turner Park or the parking structure without much hassle getting to an entrance....which is a pretty big deal if it's below zero out! The decor of Black Oak's decor is cozy, clean, and has a modern rustic farmhouse feel.I like the white brick mixed with iron and wood. The color palette is soft, reminding me of a cozy den. There are ample TVs scattered through the dining space, not just at the bar which is good for dragging your man out when the game is on. One thing I liked about the layout was that although many of the tables were occupied there was not an over crowded feel. They manage to make it fee cozy without actually having to bump the elbow of the person next to you or feel like you're in the conversation of the table next to you. There are a few "communal hightops" where you could possibly be sharing the table with other parties (Pitch does this too along with other joints in town). The beer and cocktail selection was good, I was pleased with what they had to offer. The menu was also fitting to the decor and the ambiance. I chose a sirloin which was great. The vegetables and the mashed potatoes were also excellent. There was not a real wait time and the food was delivered smoothly in a timely manner so I didn't have to eat my napkin in desperation. The sirlon was also from the nearby Wholners which was cool. All in all, a good experience, I will definitely be back to try other menu items.

The service and Atmosphere were wonderful here. Walked over for a later lunch. I was one of 2 guests in the restaurant so it was a pretty quiet lunch. I had the moms meatloaf. I thought it was seasoned pretty well but was a bit on the dry side. was almost tender but not quite. The veggies were a bit overdone and not very crispy and the potatoes were not very warm. Everything had good flavor but was missed on some of the elements. I would try again and hope it to be a bit better next time

Cleanliness 4 Service 3 Food Quality 4 Likelihood 4 1-5 (5 Best!) 3.8 Our first visit, today for lunch. Three of us thought we would try it out. We were not greeted by anyone, nor was there a sign directing us to be seated or to wait. We began seating ourselves and finally someone appeared. The order taker was pleasant. We chose the BBQ Nachos for an appetizer, it was probably the best nacho's we have ever had. Great sauce, flavor, generous chunks of chicken breast meat. Nicely done. The sign showed that the restrooms where upstairs. I had to rush up, quickly. I was glad to learn, and disappointed that I didn't know, that there ARE restrooms on the main level. I ordered a salad with ranch, they brought it with Caesar dressing, that was just bad! They replaced the salad. The food overall was flavorful, it was freshly made. It was fairly warm when it came out, it was not hot. I had a prime rib sandwich, the other two had meatloaf. It would be a place I would try, it will not be a good "go to" place, there are just too many great places. We WOULD come in for some appetizer and drinks. Good just does not cut it. You have to be great at what you do, not just good. Give it a try, and share what you think...

This restaurant was a nice atmosphere. I loved the lighting in the area I was sitting at, it was positioned right at my table, not at my face or in my eyes. The only con of this restaurant if the music selection. It was not fitting for the feel of the room. Even tho I'm a younger adult than most that eat there, playing country music or slow pop music was not fitting. Maybe some classical music, or piano music for some after hours. Over all I really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was great along with the bread they give you before your meal. The butter was so yummy.

I've only been here once so far and had really good service, but was not blown away by the food. Mostly because I didn't feel like, as a vegetarian, there was much of variety. They do have pretty good fries though!!

Walked in around 10. And they claim to close at 10 when their website says 11. It's fine if you want to get out and leave early but they didn't have to be rude. I pointed out that all their sites say that they are open later and they tried to argue and were very rude! They do not have a good place for people who are traveling and trying to get a good meal! Their loss in a great tipper!

I used to really enjoy coming here. I was very disappointed at my most recent visit here. We arrived at the restaurant at 745, placed our order at 8:00 and our food did not arrive until 9:00. To top it all off, at around 8:45 the manager came out and told my girlfriend that they had ran out of ribs (the only thing she came here for). When our food was delivered, our waitress did not even apologize for the wait. Don't get me wrong, the food here is excellent. However, the service is largely lacking and prevented this from being an enjoyable experience. I don't usually write yelp reviews, but my time here has made me upset enough to write one. I really hope they fix something here, otherwise we may never be coming back.

Had a good time. Definitely didn't need the reservation we made but as a party of 8 I never rely on just showing up anywhere. Everyone enjoyed their food. I tried the Husker Burger and a Bloody Mary. Both delicious. Others were fans of the French Dip, chicken fried steak, and the other burger variations. My only complaint was when I asked if there were still happy hour specials, the waitress said "yes" and walked away. I happened to know what the deals were, but they weren't readily apparent on the menu so the rest of our party didn't know what was available and until when. Minor issue though. It's great to have something reasonably priced and delicious in Midtown for an option.

This has become my go to lunch spot. The blackened mahi sandwich is great. It pairs well with their red beans and rice, which unfortunately isn't a regular menu item. It should be because it's excellent. I also like the chicken fried chicken. Somebody gave it a poor review, but they had to have gotten a bad order because this is normally very good. Happy hour patio are fun times too.

Apparently this place is "hit or miss", but I've never personally experienced a miss. This restaurant is accommodating (squeezed an extra reservation in on v-day for my boyfriend when he first discovered you can't book anywhere the week of for that holiday!), unique (menu, wall decorations and music - odd mix, but I'm ok with it), delicious (almond crusted trout), and has a well-stocked bar. Just about everything is made in-house, and they even have outdoor seating for the summer music festivals. You should be prepared to spend at least $100 on food and drink if you want one of those seats (they aren't going to let you take a prime spot for a glass of water) but between 4 people, I easily hit the $100 mark while enjoying 3 hrs of live music. I truly love this place, and only worry that good reviews will turn it from my old-reliable empty restaurant to a place too crowded to seat me!

We went during happy hour just to check the place out for the first time. (Monday- Friday 3-6. Saturday 11a-6). Ordered the 5 cheese spinach dip and the fried goat cheese plate. Both were quite good. If you are a fan of goat cheese, Black Oak Grill is a must! The goat cheese is served with brushetta style toast that perfectly complements the flavor of the goat cheese. I am looking forward to trying more dishes here. Another benefit of this restaurant is the location. The patio overlooks Midtown Crossing's Turner Park. Service was a little under par due to forgetfulness, but they were still pleasant.

Free Spinach and Artichoke dip and Bud Light special for Bocce players is cool but I don't get why their beer distributor isn't feeding them the unique beers that deserve to be paired with their decent menu. Sam Adams found his way in but why not branch out with some unique microbrews? Everybody's doing it!

Between a 3 and a 4, but worth checking out. My wife and I stopped in to grab a quick bite to eat before heading across the street for a movie. It's a nice place, with a lot of brick, wood, and iron and we sat in a comfortable booth. The restaurant looks out over Turner Park and has outdoor seating when the weather is nice. We were seated promptly and ordered a beer and a glass of wine. Our server asked if we wanted water as well, we said we did, but it never showed (we were in a hurry, so we didn't bother asking again). I had the Prime Rib Dip, and my wife ordered the BBQ Chicken Nachos. The Prime Rib Dip with fries was really good. Very tender and flavorful, and the fries were nice and crunchy. Very happy with my meal. The presentation on my wife's nachos was great, but she said they came out barely warm, like it was ready way before my meal was. Fix the timing on when the food is prepared so everything comes out hot, and you would have a four star review. I enjoyed what I had and would come back again.

Went here for a birthday lunch for a colleague last month. The place was pretty quiet inside, for a lunch time, it seemed pretty empty. The set up of the restaurant is nice. I went to the ladies room there, and it seemed pretty clean (yay!). The place gets dinged a star for service. In our group of five, I don't think anyone ever got a refill of their drinks, and after the food came out, I am not sure we saw the server until we flagged her down for a cake for the birthday person. The dessert had a cute sparkler on it, but that didn't make up for the fact that we seemed to have to work to get our checks in a place that was largely empty. I had meatloaf, and it was pretty good. But, at least two people at the table complained that the lunch size servings of their entrees and the soup were tiny. It seems like a fun place for happy hour/drink, I just don't know if I'd recommend it for lunch during a workday; we were rushing to get back to work, and some people left feeling still hungry.

so so so good! its beautiful inside. its classy. the menu has a nice variety of choices. the staff is friendly. i like how theres a lunch menu even on a weekend. im surprised it wasn't busier on a friday afternoon, but it was also nice because i was in and out. the patio outside is nice also. it was humid that day, so a fan on the patio would be nice too. but i loved the food. the prices are good also. love the area that its in also.

We we stopped in for dinner last Friday night without reservations. They were packed because Midtown was doing a light show, but they got us in after 30 minutes. That was about the best part of my experience there. Our service was definitely sub par. Drinks were missing, or took way longer than they should. They forgot to bring us our bread, and brought it at the end of the meal, they brought our salads out with our dinner, and they screwed up my order. If you were to think it was because they were busy, they weren't. By the time we had got there everyone was pretty much cleared out of the place. My major grip was with the service, but most of the food I tried was less than great too. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, to say it was rough and chewy would be an understatement. I would say I normally have high standards for Chicken Fried Steak, so I was kinda screwed from the get go, but this Chicken Fried Steak has forever made me lower my standards for any future Chicken Fried Steak. My fiance ordered the meatloaf, which was okay. It was grilled, so it was different than your regular homemade meatloaf. I didn't necessarily care for the tomato sauce on top, it tasted like regular marinara sauce. I think the flavor and combination just threw me off guard. It wasn't necessarily what I was expecting. I will say that the salads we're pretty good. I ordered the Black Oak salad, and my mom ordered the Fried Chicken salad. They were both delicious. Between that, and a very nice Ozark Mule, it saved it from being a one star. Overall though, I was pretty disappointing with the service, and I thought the food could have been better.

This was a spectacular brunch spot. The brunch menu is very affordable, and was all very tasty. To top off the brunch menu, you can add a mimosa or a bloody Mary to any brunch entree for $1!

Was very disappointed in my meal. Went at lunch time, and although the staff was all very nice not a single person (the guy who gave us the menus nor our waiter) informed us of the lunch specials. They are on the menu, but if you don't know about them it is easy to miss as they are on the same page as alcoholic drinks. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich; I saw it came with pickled jalapenos and asked for my sandwich to be without. This is why servers really need to write down orders when they are taken. Our server did not, so when my sandwich came with the jalapenos I was disappointed. This wouldn't be a big deal if they were simply on the side of the plate, but unfortunately they came already on the sandwich - so I was left picking them off. My biggest gripe about the sandwich though is that it was very heavy on bread as the bun was very thick, but it was very light on meat. I felt they really were skimpy on the pork. It did have a good flavor, but still was disappointed.

Overall unimpressed to say the least; I'm not even sure where to start because the whole experience was one giant disappointment for my boyfriend and I. We started off with drinks, I got a margarita and he got a Bloody Mary. He was told the Bloody Mary was super spicy when he ordered it, which is fantastic because we love our bloody Mary's spicy. When we got our drinks the margarita tasted like water and the bloody tasted like straight tomato juice. When we got our meals we were only disappointed again. His chicken fried chicken was very dry and my burger that I ordered medium rare with no tomatoes was charbroiled with tomatoes still on it. To top off our whole experience here was our waiter, Phillip. He was beyond unattentive and was more interested in sitting at the bar and bitching with a random drunk about how much the management did wrong here. Also, the table beside us that got here 30 minutes after we did was served before us. Needless to say we won't be back.

Stopped in on a Monday night. It's been storming so it was kind of quiet. Took a little time for the waitress (hostess was busy) to greet us at the door but nothing awful. The decor is cute. Rustic modern, I guess I would call it. Not a fan of country music but it was background noise. Perfect. As in I didn't have to scream across the table to be heard. Our waitress was very helpful and answered my questions (picky eater here). I ordered the pot roast- I'm a sucker for comfort food. Mashed potatoes were good. Pot roast was everything you'd expect a pot roast should be. Happy tummy! Waitress was attentive and had no issues. I'll be back again. I'm going to finish with a yelp review of the manager's involvement. Kudos to you for responding and working with social media and responding to complaints. More restaurants should do that.

I had came here one time before for happy hour and wasn't impressed. Some friends invited us out so we decided to give a try for dinner. I asked what their specialty was and they said the Husker burger. My first question to the waiter was if the burgers were hand formed or out of a box. I was pleased to learn that not only were they hand formed but all their meat came from Wolhners deli across the street fresh daily. The burger did not disappoint, the meal was excellent, beer was good, service was better then you would expect for a bar type place. I will be back soon.

I don't want to give them one star on a single visit as there were redeeming qualities, but over all not a good experience. They didn't have two items we tried to order and the over all quality of the food was poor. My daughters Kraft macaroni and cheese with a little melted parmesan on top was better than my Caesar salad or my wife's grilled chicken and vegetables.

Eh crappy service. They took forever to greet us at the table and an hour and 15 before the food came- and it was not busy. When the food came it was cold as though they forgot it. It had potetial and may have been good if it was fresh but really disappointed in general.

Brat

I went here with coworkers for lunch a week ago. Nice place. About $13 for lunch. Nice slightly upscale grill food. Very much like Jams I thought, at 78th and Dodge.

Just finished dinner and it was good. Comfort food. Not too expensive. I had the chicken fried chicken with green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy. This is a really Nice addition to Midtown Crossing. Affordable and good.

Burger or Hamburger is savored as the most desired fast food meal in the United States. The individual hamburgers served at restaurants are prepared using everything including lettuce, onion, tomato, and sliced pickles as well as melted cheese on the patty or crumbled on top. American restaurants also serve veggie burgers for those who don't relish meat. Cheeseburgers are also hot favorite in the United States.

(1)Mark C.
(2)Megan G.
The service was slow at first, but got better. The food was good! I had the caesar salad with salmon and the salmon wasn't overcooked like other restaurants sometimes do. I would highly deck den this place!
(4)Matt M.
Really good burgers. Really great atmosphere. Free Parking in a cool neighborhood. Whats not to like? The service is really good. The place is chic and impeccably clean. The vibe is also pretty cool. This is definitely a good place to check out if your feeling like a hamburger or interesting American fare.
(4)Sharon W.
Went to the Black Oak Grill tonight for the first time. The ribs I had were good and the others in our party said there food was ok, but not memorable. The service however was really not memorable! Wouldn't really recommend this place.
(3)Bill M.
(4)Adam P.
Great food. Decent service. Pleasant atmosphere. Try the rosemary chicken.

(3)Ryan M.

(3)Morgan O.
(5)Gena R.
Eh crappy service. They took forever to greet us at the table and an hour and 15 before the food came- and it was not busy. When the food came it was cold as though they forgot it. It had potetial and may have been good if it was fresh but really disappointed in general.
(2)Linda A.

The food was decent. I had the pork chop and my girlfriend had the sirloin. Both were prepared well and were tasty. The mashed potatoes were good but the portion was pretty small. The décor is nice, but there was one aspect I just couldn't get over. They blast out nothing but pop-country music. It's the weirdest thing. Judging by the décor it doesn't look like the type of place that would play that kind of music. I could see if it was just a bar, maybe, but a restaurant like this? It's completely out of place. If it was half-volume it might not be that big a deal, but they crank that crap up so you can't help but notice it. I even asked our server "what's up with the music?" He just laughed and said, "country lyrics got some drama!" The two most commonly acknowledged divisive music styles are rap and country. Imagine if you couldn't stand rap and you walked into an upscale restaurant and they were blasting nothing west coast gangsta rap. That would be pretty strange, right? That's exactly how it is with this place and country. Just judging by the food and service I'd have gone back there again, but not if they drown out your conversation with annoying hick music about pickup trucks and cowboy boots. I can't recommend this place.

(2)Broderick M.

(4)Debi B.

Brat

The burgers were better than I expected when I saw the place, but overall, a forgettable experience

(5)Jennifer C.

(4)Megan C.
(3)Michael M.
(3)Jamie B.

(3)Ashley B.

(4)Chris B.

(5)Janae J.

(3)Patrick G.
I went here with coworkers for lunch a week ago. Nice place. About $13 for lunch. Nice slightly upscale grill food. Very much like Jams I thought, at 78th and Dodge.

GREAT burger, wonderful fries. Atmosphere was great too, music was awful, unless you like country.
(4)Jennifer A.

Great food. Decent service. Pleasant atmosphere. Try the rosemary chicken.

Went to the Black Oak Grill tonight for the first time. The ribs I had were good and the others in our party said there food was ok, but not memorable. The service however was really not memorable! Wouldn't really recommend this place.
(3)Bill M.

Eh crappy service. They took forever to greet us at the table and an hour and 15 before the food came- and it was not busy. When the food came it was cold as though they forgot it. It had potetial and may have been good if it was fresh but really disappointed in general.

(5)Michael M.
(3)William A.
(4)Brandon A.
Brat
(3)Cornel F.
The burgers were better than I expected when I saw the place, but overall, a forgettable experience
(2)Jamie B.
(2)Patrick G.
I went here with coworkers for lunch a week ago. Nice place. About $13 for lunch. Nice slightly upscale grill food. Very much like Jams I thought, at 78th and Dodge.
(4)Moira R.

(4)Marc D.
I would try again and hope it to be a bit better next time
(3)Janae J.
(4)Gabriel W.
(3)Shelby B.
(3)Caroline H.

(5)Aynsley W.
I've only been here once so far and had really good service, but was not blown away by the food. Mostly because I didn't feel like, as a vegetarian, there was much of variety. They do have pretty good fries though!!
(3)Ashley B.

(1)Jennifer C.
(5)Michelle P.
(4)Chris B.
(5)Colleen L.
(5)Average J.
(5)Ed B.

(4)Megan C.
(3)Shaunita J.
(3)Christy S.
so so so good! its beautiful inside. its classy. the menu has a nice variety of choices. the staff is friendly. i like how theres a lunch menu even on a weekend. im surprised it wasn't busier on a friday afternoon, but it was also nice because i was in and out. the patio outside is nice also. it was humid that day, so a fan on the patio would be nice too. but i loved the food. the prices are good also. love the area that its in also.
(5)Ezra R.

(4)Curtis D.
GREAT burger, wonderful fries. Atmosphere was great too, music was awful, unless you like country.
(4)Jennifer A.
(3)Jessica F.

(4)Luke R.
(4)Lindsay L.
(3)Jason R.

Average food. Too much country music.

Just finished dinner and it was good. Comfort food. Not too expensive. I had the chicken fried chicken with green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy. This is a really Nice addition to Midtown Crossing. Affordable and good.
