Stopped in for a quick lunch. Not a very big place, only 10 or so tables. One waiter covering everything so things were just a bit slow Got an egg roll and combo Pad Thai with a canned soft drink. Egg roll was small, but tasty. Pad Thai portion was sufficient, but there will be no leftovers. Taste was good. You pick the level of heat/spice. I ordered medium and it had a decent kick to it Total price not including tip came to just over $14 dollars. Thought that was a bit steep for what I got. Nevertheless, the food was good and I would try it again

I really wanted to like this place since we are new to Omaha and it's close to us. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. Bad atmosphere, waiter wasn't very friendly, and the food was bad. The dishes we got didn't taste right (We ordered the fresh spring rolls, pad see yew, and pad see mao). I will give this place two stars for the thai iced tea which was great. In the future, we will go to Salween Thai.

Lots of 3-star reviews, but I think they do a better job than that (more like 3.5 stars), so here we are. The Thai tea is not as sweet as you're probably imagining it's going to be... it's even a little bitter. I like it that way! But be prepared. The Tom Kha (with chicken) is a superstar. Again, more savory than sweet... but it has this richness to it, almost buttery, that I think a lot of places miss. Also, they make sure to ask how spicy you want things... I said 3/10, thinking he just meant for the main course. Nope! He meant for everything, which was a nice surprise, and so my soup had a nice heat to it. (Side note: I hate mushrooms in every dish on the planet except for tom kha. And these button mushrooms are perfect!) I got the Pad Won Sen as my entree, and it was... really good. I'm not going to say it was amazing, but it was a solid performer. Beware, though: on the list of things it includes, it leaves out baby corn. If you hate baby corn, like I do, request for it to be taken off. The entree comes with a side of steamed rice, which I honestly didn't really eat. I was so busy getting into those glass noodles that it didn't even occur to me. I decided to live on the edge and order dessert, which was the coconut milk sweet rice with mango. This is weird, but I want to take mango-slicing lessons from them! I have never seen such neatly prepared mango. (I'm hispanic, so I eat a lot of mango y limon with cayenne, and my mango always looks jacked up) Realistically it was not what I was expecting it to be, but it was way delicious and kind of beautiful. (I'll attach a photo) Came for quiet lunch (around 1:40pm), so there was almost no staffing... which was fine. I was in no hurry. I did have to wait awhile to get my table cleared, but other than that I had a perfectly pleasant experience. Would come back again!

This isn't my normal place for Thai but found myself needing to kill 4 hours until my flight and have been craving Thai. It's very just average. I always stick to Pad Thai chicken and don't venture outside of that much except maybe some Pad See Ew which looked good in the pics. However the Pad Key Mao was described as having chili , like pad Thai, and basil. Sounded like an excellent combination so I ventured. It was ok. Taste was good but didn't taste or see any basil... I ordered it at a spice level of 7 so possibly that outweighed the taste of basil. Was really hoping for some big tasty pieces of basil. About half my noodles were under done and very chewy and hard to eat. Vegetables were peppers, onions and carrots they were done right. Spice level of seven matched what I think it should be on my heat scale. Thankful the waitress never let my water glass empty!!! There for lunch and lunch plates didn't come with any kind of appetizer.. Couple places out West have $7-$8 lunch plates that come with crispy spring roll and vegetable ball. I'd return if I was in the area craving Thai again but my go-to 5 star Thai place is Thai Kitchen out West. Heads up, there is an extra $.50 charge if you use a debit card. Something I think the credit card company pulled over on the owner and it's passed on to you but it would've been nice to know ahead of time. I didn't see a sign anywhere or anything so just letting you know

After a little back and forth about dinner, we ended up at Bangkok Cuisine. I had no preconceived notions about it, but did notice that while Flavors next door was pretty busy on a Saturday night, BC was dead. I'm wondering if they cater more toward the lunch crowd being downtown during the week and then takeout more than dine in. There is no real ambiance here, it appears family run which is all fine with me! We were seated promptly and they got the food out to us in a timely manner. Maybe it was just a mis-order for me this time but I got a dish that was different from my usual thai orders and it was just OK- rice was little mushy but it was eatable. The pad thai I sampled was pretty good, and portion sizes were good for the price. After dinner we tried the mango and sticky rice dessert which is one of my favorites, but alas, the sticky rice was undercooked and crunchy. I would try it again, but this place just didn't wow me this time around. Seems like a good place to do takeout!

Why I took so long to try this place is beyond me! I was always worried about the fact they weren't very busy and that was always off putting to me. I have to say though I can see myself coming back here way too often. Saturday night, I'd spent all day grocery shopping and ironically the last thing I wanted to do was cook those groceries so we set off to find some food. The places I want to go to were very busy and had a wait time for a table so I decided to walk home and suck it up and cook. On the way I walked by Bangkok Cuisine again and decide what the heck! The place is small, only had maybe 15 tables but it was nice and warm thanks to the space heater they had going. They have a tv but it only plays music channels and the decorations were adorable. (see the photo of the huge painting, I wish I had one!). The guy who greeted us was nice and I told him I'd never been there before and I like noodles, what does he suggest. He said pad Thai was really good. Kinda generic but I said thank you and read the menu. Now... if you know me I am VERY picky about what I order, so it took several minutes before I could decide. I never felt rushed at all, they were very kind to me. My husband and I ordered 2 dishes to share and 2 egg rolls. A1 - Egg rolls: I give them 5/5 totally! They aren't typical Americanized egg rolls and that is a good thing. They are crispy like lumpia and made with spring roll wrappers. They have noodles and veggies and are VERY yummy. They were served very hot out of the fryer and my old complaint would be they were greasy so if that bothers you, use your napkin to remove some grease like I did. Cost: 99¢ each N10 - Pad See-ew w/ chicken: It wasn't anything super amazing but it wasn't half bad. I felt it was a little dry and needed more sauce. The chicken I did not like and I think it would have tasted better with pork, it was white meat chicken and I felt it was also a bit dry. They were nice and put crushed peanuts on it for me (I asked them to) and that made it EXTRA yummy so definitely ask for peanuts on the side. The veggies were very crispy and good. I would give it 3/5. Cost: $7.99 I5 - Pad Priow Wan-Sweet and sour: This ended up being my favorite out of the two entrees and I am surprised. It comes with cucumbers, tomatoes, pineapples, bell peppers, and onion stir fried with this sweet and sour sauce. Served with rice. The first time we ordered it I got pork and it was pretty good, the pork was very mild flavored. SHOCKINGLY cucumbers in a stir fry tastes AMAZING. I think I'll have to start doing it at home too! We ended up ordering a SECOND serving of this with beef and my husband liked it but I didn't enjoy the beef. Cost: $7.49 Serving sizes I believe are generous considering almost everything on the menu is under $8. As you can see in my photos you get generous amount of rice and noodles in your food. Oh and yes what the other reviews say are true, you don't get served all at once but one dish at a time. This is how a lot of the world works because you want the food served fresh and hot! They didn't have heat lamps like most places do. I don't understand why people are complaining about this. They were also relatively busy when we ate there and it didn't take a very long time to get my food. In fact, the nice guy quickly refilled our water as soon as it would run out. My bill came to a total of $28.74 not including tip and I am thrilled. We basically got enough food for three people for less than 30 bucks, my husband just eats a lot LOL! So please don't be discouraged if the place isn't busy, they make all the food on demand so it's really fresh. They'll even give you chopsticks if you ask. I'm just a weirdo and think noodles should be served with chopsticks and not a fork. I found myself eating a lot and we question if the food had MSG but almost an hour later and I don't have the typical headache or anxiety that I would if the food did have msg so honestly I think it's just that damn good! Also! If you are a vegan or vegetarian A LOT of their menu is friendly to you. They offer the choice of tofu with their dishes and I would say just about everything on their menu could be made vegan. They also have a notice on their menu that request you tell them about allergies or preferences. Another also - (lol) they have a spice level. 1-10 I got a 3 which is called warm on my pad see-ew and I really couldn't taste the spice and usually I'm a baby on spicy foods. They do have chili paste and chili peppers on the table if you need to kick it up. As well as shoyu. I have included photos of the dishes we ate as well as a scanned photo copy of their menu. I hope this is helpful!

Very excited to try this place based on the awesome photos and reviews. That is the only excitement I have had here unfortunately... Both the Pad Thai and Chicken broccoli were WAY OVER SALTED!!! Left after a few bites. The photos on the site have to be doctored to the point I'm wondering if I was even at the same restaurant with 4 and 5 stars. This place is a pass... Unless you are salt deficient.

Pad Thai had an odd smoked taste and spaghetti noodles. No heat, just smoke. Flavor was "ok", definitely have had better and even though there was enough for one sitting, I'm used to having leftovers at an Asian spot. One green onion quartered and no other vegetables except 3 random bean sprouts. Definitely underwhelmed after seeing their glorious ratings. Hmmm you be the judge.

We were passing through and decided to get some grub. Yelp to the rescue. It is difficult to find authentic ethnic foods in Nebraska for some odd reason. My wife likes Thai so she usually takes no prisoners and orders the menu. We at lots food. We enjoyed our dinner. The service and price were decent.

Not sure why are people raving about this place, while downplaying Mai Tai at Aksarben... I have been here twice first time didn't even get to order because it was so pack that I decided to leave, second time decided to get to go food instead. I got Drunken noodles and they were dry with a sandy texture from the spices. I still chow downed on the noodles cause food is food, but after hearing so much praise about this place I was "chow downing" disappointment.

Great find down the street from the hotel we stay at in Omaha! Ended up getting the wings and Pad Key Mao. The wings were a little disappointing. Small, which was fine as it was just me, and a little dry. The pad was really awesome though! Much better than the more popular pad Thai. I have never had it before, but I will definitely try it again! Level 7 spiciness was just about right for me, and I like spicy things. Any more and it would have started making me miss the taste of the food. One note, the prices online and in the pictures are fairly out of date. The wings were $4.49, the Thai iced tea was $2.49 I think, and the pad was either $6.99 or $7.99. Still cheaper than I am used to, but considerably higher than the pictures and online menu websites show.

Read about Bangkok Cuisine in the World-Herald and had to stop in for some Pad Thai. Been here in Omaha for a while and have tried to hunt down a few Pad Thai places, but never thought to try here. Glad the paper illuminated me! Got my order to-go. Staff was friendly and helpful, and even made a few jokes with me after I forgot my wallet in the car. D'oh! Ordered my Pad Thai at a 5 on the spice scale and waited, oh, 15 mins for it to be ready. There were a lot of diners and a lot of to-go orders. This place was hoppin'. A few things about the restaurant: just your classic, slightly divey downtown Asian restaurant. A big flat screen on the wall in the corner murmuring the news. Great dingy (in a good way!) atmosphere. Took my Pad Thai home and devoured it. Delicious thin rice noodles with a bit of crispy wok goodness on them. Shrimp, thank GOD, was deveined and cooked well. Crispy bean sprouts and crunchy peanuts. A touch more spicy than I prefer (I'll go with a 3 next time), but it definitely hit the spot. And for $7.95 before those Omaha taxes, I thought it was a pretty darn good deal. Would definitely go back.

Lunch! At 2pm there weren't a lot of people in the place. I placed an order of Pad Thai and Son-in-law eggs to go. Total comes to about $14.50 and is completed rather quickly. I gather it up and head back to my office. Settling into the break room, I catch scent of something fantastic, it's making me drool. Oh! That's me! That's lunch! It has been so long since I had Thai, I am almost whimpering in anticipation as I crack open the Pad Thai and the heady aroma wafts upward. Please.. please let this be good. I whisper that silent prayer as I stab my plastic fork into the beautiful noodles. I can see it's hot, I know it's hot; it doesn't stop me from shoveling the first forkful into my gaping maw. It's heaven, it's everything I want it to be. That right mix of sweet and sour with just the right amount of heat. I am sort of salivating as I recall it. I snarfed it all down in record time and I still wanted more of the taste in my mouth. The eggs were something I had never seen before. Deep fried without any sort of coating or breading. 3 eggs deep fried and cut in half with a brown sauce. It was soy based and not real thick. I would eat them again but I would have to split them with someone. I look forward to going back and trying everything on the menu.

I got the pad thai and a soupy curry dish (I'm sorry I forget the name) they were both fantastic!

Food was quality Thai. No Chinese here though, despite it being in the description on the app. It was hard to find because of the lack of quality signage on the street.

I love some of their menu but not the rest. I think im too spoiled by many good thai restaurants. I like tomyam and phatai here. Curry was too watery. Papaya salad was not fresh and small portion.

Looking for something new in Omaha, I search Food Prowl. A really good place to start. Then of course I check Yelp. I have had a lot of Thai food, some places are a hit but mostly a miss. This place is absolutely a BIG HIT! After reading everyone's comments about small portion sizes, we thought to get several dishes. We got the fresh spring rolls, which come 3 to an order. Most places give you two. Granted they were veggie spring rolls, no shrimp, but delicious with their kinda peanut sauce. Then we had the Som Tum or papaya salad at a level 5. Excellent! Then we had Pad See-Ew with beef level 6 and Pad Priow-Wan sweet and sour with pork, level 7. We ate everything! There was just the two of us. This is the best Thai I have ever had and WE ARE GOING BACK. Some of you people need to get a new palate if you don't think this place is worth more than 3 stars!

The thai food here is good. Yes, huge shocker, I cheated on my favorite thai place, Salween Thai. But in my defense they're closed on Wednesdays! And I had to get my Thai fix!~ Also they're very close to me which is also a plus for this place. Overall, I was very satisfied with my Pad See Ew, portion sizes are a little smaller than I would like (the takeout container was only about 3/4 full. But, eh, it didn't bother me too much. Taste is very authentic. And thai tea was acceptable. The inside of the space is really cute and the daughter who takes the orders is also very sweet. I'm a sucker for asian family owned restaurants, it's just so charming and cute to me, hehe :D Also it usually means the food is authentic. Not a bad place for thai. If you're in the area and craving thai I'd hit this place up. Also good to switch things up whenever Salween is closed :)

Good food, great service ( but there only 4 tables occupied at 8:00 pm), 12 tables total so the place is kind of small. Portion size is ok, and should satisfy the normal hunger. The Tom Kha Gui soup is awesome - some of the best I have ever had, and I have had it lots. Get it spicy (8-10 level) and enjoy. Recommend this place. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it an eight. Would rate higher if the portion sizes were a bit larger.

    (4)
  • Melissa M.

I agree with most of the reviews that say little portions, but I wouldn't say it's over priced. I always live Tom Kah soup, I'll go back just for that. We were not impressed with the Pad Key Mao or Pad Prik Khing, but I usually don't try new dishes from even my favorite Thai places in CA (Asian Experience, Taft or Sophia's, Davis). I find it's hard to go wrong with Tom Kah, Panang, Pad Thai, and curries. I'll go back to give those a try.

Quick service with a kick! If you enjoy knowing how spicy your food will be, this is the place to trust. This cuisine highly respects consumer's wishes and double checks before leaving the table your preferences are understood. Try the yellow curry potato dish with tofu

  • Yinka T.

I would give this place a 3 because the drunken noodle - an American Thai restaurant staple - was quite dry. I placed an order for pick and the service was great. I would recommend getting the sticky rice - yummy!

  • William G.

Bangkok Cuisine is my favorite go to restaurant for Thai food. The food quality is consistent and it is very good. I like to get the wonton soup at spicy level 3. It's delicious. I also usually get the red curry with beef spicy level 7.

  • Christina T.

Went there for dinner tonight, around 730 and it wasnt busy at all. The young lady who serves is really sweet and helpful. We shared the yellow chicken curry with sticky rice, spring rolls, and the thai fried chicken. The curry was by far our favorite of the three. Spring rolls were so tasty and refreshing. The fried chicken was not so impressive but still tasted good. Overall a really good restaurant.

I don't have any major problems with Bangkok Cuisine, but there were some oddities during my lunchtime visit. + Food was tasty, and as spicy as desired. - The lunch portion was tiny! Much smaller than expected, and the guys I was with actually left a little hungry. + On the flip side, the price was right. - The server brought out everyone's plates one at a time. One came to our table, then she delivered several one-by-one plates to other tables (not the same table!), then mine came, then more singularly delivered to other tables, then finally, our last person got his food. There was a five minute wait between the first and last plates to our table, which was a little awkward because we were all hungry but didn't want to start eating before all of the food was present. + My Thai Iced Tea wasn't overly sweet--it actually tasted like tea! Not sure that I would go back, but it's not because I had problems with how the food tasted. The tiny portions are enough to make me not recommend Bangkok Cuisine. The amount of food was enough for me, but certainly too small for the guys I was with!

After four years Bangkok Cuisine has become my go-to Thai option when I'm hungry and don't know what to eat. It's a small time family operation serving reliably delicious food at very reasonable prices. Only loses one star due to venue and parking which is really beyond their control anyway.

  • Jason G.

Got take out from here tonight...First time going...Loved what I ordered, which was a spicy sweet meat dish on a bed of rice with some cilantro...the people who work there were great and the food was damn good...I very much look forward to coming back since the prices were very reasonable and it's close to where I live...

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how dirty the entryway is. If you get through the entryway, the rest of the place isn't terribly dirty, but I did notice my table was a bit sticky. The back of house is a little bit messy, almost as if the dine-in area was an afterthought to a take-out place. The food was just barely okay, and the portions were extremely small. There's no real table service to speak of. Considering the amount of food you get, it's very expensive. I wouldn't go again.

On our last night in Omaha, we decided to have Thai food. My sister has been Bangkok Cuisine a few times, so we decided to go with her suggestion. While perusing the menu, I noticed that a lot of the items were just $7.24. When the food arrived, I realized why everything was so cheap: THE ENTREE PORTIONS ARE ALL SMALL!! Just a small cup's worth of entree item and a cup of rice occupied each plate of food. All items are avail with your choice of chicken, beef, pork or tofu. It costs $1 extra if you want seafood. SOM TUM ($7.24): yelp.com/biz_photos/uDZ5… Fresh green papaya salad mixed with slices of carrots, tomatoes, chilis and scallions. The dressing consisted of lime juice, fish sauce and more chilis (yep, we asked for "extra spicy"). A nice start to our meal but the portion size was not enough for our table of four. THAI-STYLE FRIED CHICKEN WINGS ($3.49 for 5 wings): yelp.com/biz_photos/uDZ5… Just well-seasoned/marinaded wings, fried perfectly and served by itself. 'Nuff said. PAD SEE-EW ($7.24): yelp.com/biz_photos/uDZ5… The noodles were cooked to the right doneness, the chicken was tender and flavorful. The soy-based sauce was thick and delicious. But sadly the portion size was meager and like all the other dishes, our noodles came with a scoop of rice. You can tell how big the portion is by looking at the piece of broccoli on the plate. YUM NUA/SPICY BEEF SALAD ($7.24): yelp.com/biz_photos/uDZ5… If you like larb, you'll like this dish. It had the same flavors of lime juice and fish sauce. The difference is that the beef is sliced (larb has ground beef, chicken or pork) and the veggies are all mixed together. LOVED the acidity, delicious! PAD KHING/GINGER CHICKEN ($7.24): yelp.com/biz_photos/uDZ5… Tender chicken breast is stir-fried with ginger, mushrooms, bell peppers and onions in a spicy soy-based sauce. PAD PRIK KHING ($7.24): It was already a small amount to begin with so after my dad took a couple spoonfuls, this was all that was left. yelp.com/biz_photos/uDZ5… Your choice of meat is stir-fried w/green beans, kaffir leaves and red curry paste. You definitely get the aroma from the fresh ginger and kaffir leaves. Our beef was tender and the green beans' crispness adds to the overall texture of the dish. The main part of this dish is the red curry paste, but it was lacking. Seemed more like soy-based mixed w/red chilies. MANGO STICKY RICE ($4): yelp.com/biz_photos/uDZ5… Sticky rice flavored w/sweet coconut milk, served with sweet fresh mango. Just think mango pudding.

Pad key Mao rocks! Try it. They use the right kind of basil. It's called "holy basil."

My chicken dish tasted like shrimp, it took 45 minutes to get our soup, and almost an hour and a half to get our entrees. The only good part of my visit was the Thai coffee and the price. I strongly recommend against eating here.

If my co-workers and I don't order from here at least once a week, they send us a "get well" card (not really)! This Thai restaurant will not disappoint. We've never dined-in, but have sampled most of their menu items for carry-out. My faves are the spring rolls and the shrimp thai fried rice (#7 spicy, please). The spice level is arbitrary to whomever is cooking at the time. I've ordered "2" spicy that tastes like "10 spicy," and vice-versa. Their pad thai is very good also.

This is my happy. I will pick up a couple entrees (dinner and lunch for next day) once or twice a month. In the 15 years or so since I first tried it, I've been let down once--and that was when a piece of chicken had a weird texture (I'm very much a texture girl.). Cashew chicken is my standby but I have tried pretty much everything in the noodle, rice and curry sections and always walk away pleased. Egg rolls, spring rolls, son-in-law eggs and the soups are must haves too. If something in a dish doesn't work for you, Victor, Mom and the rest of the family/staff will work to accommodate you. I love having the choice of spice level--most entrees are a level 10 for me but soups drop to an 8--for some reason, the heat really comes through on those! Portions are generally quite generous--I end up leaving some rice most times. Bangkok is consistently yummy and will always be on my favs list. It's a hole in the wall, quiet most nights except for take out and I wouldn't change it for a second!

I really hate the fact that I'm giving my first one star - but while paying for our food we saw the older woman in the kitchen stir some soup, put the ladle to her mouth to taste, and then put it RIGHT. BACK. IN. THE. SOUP. The same spoon. The food is tasty. The service is excellent. But I just can't -- CAN'T -- overlook what we saw. And, in this day and age, I think it's important that we share those kinds of things with each other. Sorry!

Tasty chicken satay, good main dishes (lemongrass and sweet/sour). Smaller portion sizes which was perfect for lunch and being on the road. We would visit again!

My wife and I love this place. We personally think it's the best Thai food in Omaha. We almost alway start out with the Tom Kha, unless we are getting soup as the main course, other wise you can't go wrong with any of the appetizers. My wife is addicted to the Poor Man's noodles with tofu and I like to explore the menu, but more often than not, I end up with the Yellow Curry or the Pad Thai. Regardless, I always leave happy.

My sorority sisters and I decided to go here for dinner! I heard great things about it. Upon arrival they were very short staffed, took them 10 minutes to get us drinks, which was when we ordered. The gentleman was not able to make a good recommendation. Once our food began to come out it came out sporadically. I received my meal 10 minutes after the first person in my four-person party received hers. Though the service was absolutely not the best, my sorority sisters did enjoy their meals. The fried eggs were decent. The fresh spring rolls were also very good with a sweet and spicy peanut sauce. The pad Thai at this restaurant was very flavorful as well, as well as the Vietnamese pho noodle soup. I ordered the green curry. By the time my meal came out, the curry was Luke warm and yellow, and also the chicken in it seemed like it was just pulled from the freezer and warmed in the microwave. Also the size of it was not very large for the eight dollars. The curry tasted overly salty and not spicy at all as I had requested 8 out of 10. I gave the restaurant two out of five stars because my sorority sisters food was good for them, but I will not be back.

Best small thai restaurant ever. It's not the cleanest small restaurant, but no one and I mean no one beats their PAD THAI!

I heard and read about this place and decided to try it when I was in Omaha. It is a small restaurant on the street that requires you to park around the corner usually. The food is flavored well and service is nice for a mom and pop type place. I ate here with a coworker and we both got the green curry and split a fried rice. My coworker had tofu and he really enjoyed the flavor that it had. I had shrimp which was pretty good, but lacked a little depth in flavor though. The fried rice was really good with its tomatoes, chicken, eggs, and spice. It also mixed well with the curry dishes we had. Menu seemed decent with options for pretty much everyone. I would say this is about four star place as the food and service are good, but lacks a depth to some other Thai places. Will have to eat here again and try some of the other dishes they offer. I do like how the menu specifies the spice levels you can order.

Wonderful food! The satay had the best peanut sauce I have ever had, so fresh! This was the first time I had ever had Pad Thai. I'm not a huge fan of spicy food, so I ordered at a spice level 2...I still felt the heat. I thought it was a great value of flavor and portion. I will definitely return to try other menu items, probably the cashew nut chicken.

Definitely not the best Thai food in Omaha. My Pad Kee Mao was a little burnt. Tom Yum Gai was not as sour as I like it. Maybe they made it more Americanized, because this does not taste the same in Bangkok. If you're looking for Thai food in the downtown area, then this is it. You have no other choice. If you're out in West Omaha I'd recommend Thai Spice on 108th & Maple. That's my fav Thai place in Omaha.

Apparently there is a lunch "buffet" at this location. I didn't get a chance to check it out, but depending on how many people are eat and how busy the place is, it looked like they were having a little trouble keeping up with making sure there was enough food throughout the lunch rush. My husband and I did however had dine in entrees. I had my usual Pad Thai, Thai Hot of course. It was delicious! My taste buds are probably completely shot from eating so much spicy food so my tolerance is pretty high. Usually when I go out to eat Thai food and ask for their spiciest level, the cooks usually just throw a healthy amount of red pepper flakes and the dish ends up being a little bitter; killing the spicy flavor and overall flavor of the dish. But not here! It was hot, delicious, and burning my inside. Perfect. The Tom Yum Goong here is also very very good. I like how I could choose a spicy level for this too. The usual fresh spring rolls and deep fried tofu. Can't really go wrong with that. Thai tea here isn't the best I've had, but it was good. Happy dining!

I like the place. Small nothing extravagant. Not authentic but tastes good. Not too expensive. Looks like family owned. Good service.

Sorry everyone... I may have built this up too much in my head in advance but when I finally got around to trying Bangkok it totally did not live up to my expectations. The mid-range spicy didn't seem spicy at all, the pad Thai was too dry and lacked vegetables (I think I had two green onion pieces and couldn't find any cilantro), and the soup included sliced straw mushrooms... call me picky but I was not a fan. Flavors were okay, but everything was just too plain. The spices and sauces lacked pizazz and the base ingredients didn't make up for it (veggies and chicken were a little overcooked for my taste). The Thai iced tea was good, but I don't think I've ever had a bad one. Just kind of lackluster overall.

I have made a point to come in here whenever I'm in Omaha working on tour. The owner is always sweet and inviting. He even remembers my regular order - the entree sized portion of Tom Kha soup with Tofu - spice level EIGHT! (I get one to eat there and one packaged to go for the bus!) Seriously, this place could not be more of a diamond in the rough - in truth sterile - atmosphere of that area of downtown. It has a hole in the wall vibe without being scummy. The TV is always on, so I usually catch the news (rarity on tour!). And of course its always a reliable, cheap, and warming meal for the bands i bring through. It's just one of those hidden gems you fallin love with on the road - if i'm in Omaha it is my #1 destination in addition to the nearby antique malls. First time i came here was actually with local songwriter Conor Oberst and some of his buddies before a Bright Eyes show at the Orpheum. I was on tour with one of the openers and heard them backstage insisting on heading there for lunch. i tagged along knowing that local musicians would surely lead me to the most satisfying meal in town under $10. Six years later I am SO happy i went, keep coming back, and hope Bangkok Cuisine stays right where it is for a long time to come. Next time i think i'm up for it - gimme a 10!

Once again, major fail. Nastiest lunch I have had in a long time....thought I'd give them another try. But just like I remember, the food was horrible. Not fresh. Was served the dredges of the bottom of the pan, dry broken up noodles, not a veggie to be seen and about 2 pieces of chicken with one sad little piece of carrot. Huge chunks of uncooked cabbage in the both egg rolls....yuck yuck yuck. I'm done with you Bangkok. Gross.

I have visited other Thai restaurants but I don't know what they were serving. The lemon grass and coconut was decent and the lunch buffet was limited. I also ordered take out thinking I just ordered the wrong menu item. It smell real good but when I got home, it was a waste. I guess coming from Houston you expect a lot more but Omaha restaurants don't measure up.

My wife and I have been to Bangkok cuisine on 2 occasions and on both have been very pleased by the food and service. We have tried different dishes each time and all have been well prepared with fresh ingredients. A big plus for us is the ability to set your own spice level. This allows us to tailor the dishes heat for each of our preferences. The service is exceptional and very friendly. They have a small buffet on Wednesday and Friday, with 2 main dishes and 2 sides. It's a great way to try different items for a low cost. I echo the other posters reviews of the spring rolls, they are incredible. They also have a great selection of vegetarian fare available. This is a place where you will find great food and service at a great price. It doesn't really lend itself to the urban hipster crowd, the décor is nothing to write home about, but who eats the décor? Parking is close and easy; the crowd is diverse, ranging from college kids to families. It's a great mom and pop type place with real food cooked by real people.

Two words: Tom Kha!! I had a quick lunch break yesterday and my usual lunch spot was PACKED, so I decided to slide in to Bangkok. I am glad I did! The waitress was one of the most pleasant people I have ever encountered, and that's saying something for waitstaff, especially at lunch time! When I sat down I was alonzo, but shortly there after a few friends randomly came in and joined me. With differences of sit down time of 10-15 minutes we expected to be seeing all dishes coming in at random, but somehow the waitress was able to bring all the soups at the same time and the entrees as well. EXCELLENT service! Quite a pleasant surprise! The Tom Kha was exceptional! Very well balanced and chocked full of veggies and chicken. The entree portion was huge and came with a nice serving of rice. That Tom Kha may be the first thing I think of when I think lunch for a while!

Went back again recently... Still the same. Tried different things. Yellow curry, thai iced tea, some chicken wings. Yellow curry - you can make this. Not to say that this tasted bad, but it isn't really spectacular. All you need is the paste, coconut milk, potatoes, onions, and meat. Tastes better, and is a lot cheaper. Thai iced tea - was a joke... watered down and just sad. Chicken wings - oily and not very good compared to what I have had before. Is everyone in Omaha being deceived from this type of "thai" food? Once I find a food thai restaurant, I will let you know. But this is just sad. If anyone wants to give me suggestions to what to eat here, please let me know. I'll try it and see how it is.

This place far exceeded my expectations. A friend of mine advised I check it out. If the menu seems foreign to you, just go with the pad thai, it's flat out delicious. The poor mans noodles are also quite good. The spicier the better in my opinion!

The negative reviews of this long-time favorite make me sad, but if you didn't hate it completely, I might recommend to try it again at a different time. Aoy has a couple assistants that are not as reliable cooks as she herself is, so if you happened to go on one of her days off, that may explain the disappointing food. Of course, different strokes for different folks, too. I love the home-style Northern Thai that Victor and Aoy dish up, but I'm sure it's not to everybody's taste. In particular, I'd note that if you love tomato-based pad thai, I would probably avoid trying it here. Since I didn't list them on my earlier review, I thought I'd mention a few favorite dishes this time around. I LOVE their wonton soup, which is chicken and shrimp instead of pork, so the whole family can enjoy it. I usually get Poor Man's Noodles (truthfully, not enough veggies, but somehow addictive anyway) or pad won sen, and sometimes mix it up with the Bangkok Cuisine Salad (especially in summer - very refreshing) or basil chicken. Other family members are devoted to the pad key mao and the broccoli with oyster sauce.

I heart Bangkok seriously HEART. This place is adorable and family run. So I stick to the same thing most of the time because I like it so much and it has never been bad. I get the Pad Ki Mao and oh my it is noodle heaven, love those flavors. I'm craving it right now... P.S. I lived in Chicago for two years and I never found a Thai restaurant that could top their Pad Ki Mao.

Thai food in Nebraska? Darn right. This place is the real deal. Another happy Yelp find. Trust the reviews, the reviewers don't lie. This is no Panda Express. This food is made & served by authentic Thai folk who know what's good. Cool off the spice w/ some Thai iced tea & save some room for sweet rice w/ mango. Your taste buds will rejoice.

Bangkok is my favorite Thai in Omaha period. I have tried most all of the other places in town and I keep coming back to Bangkok. My staple is the yellow curry with fried tofu. I typically get spicy level 5 and it can vary depending if the mom is cooking or if the daughter is cooking. It's never a disappointment though. Expect hearty chunks of a white potato, slivers of onion and bursting yellow curry flavors tamed with the creamy goodness that is coconut milk. I appreciate the family aspect of the restaurant. You can expect the Dad or the son behind the counter and the mom or the daughter in the kitchen. I have never been disappointed by any of the dishes that I have tried. On hungry days, I indulge in the fresh spring rolls which are middle of the road as far as spring rolls go. Some Thai restaurants around town will add mint or tofu to their spring rolls, but Bangkok uses standard veggies and vermecelli (glass noodles) in them. the dipping sauce is that yummy blend of spice, honey and peanuts. I could probably bathe myself in that sauce. They do have buffets on I *think* Wednesdays and Fridays and expect a lunch rush if you want to get in on it. Most downtown workers do, but it's worth every moment. I am a full Bangkok supporter!

Just had dinner there 15 minutes ago. Just super. I had a soup... I never can remember the names... but what it is called is not the point now, is it? It was coconut milk based with mushroom, tomato, cilantro... I should have ordered more. Then I had one of the noodle dishes with tofu. An absolute knockout. I ordered both dishes with 5-level spice. It was "there." Mortal mouths should use caution going much higher than this. Freak mouths go right ahead! This is a family joint. This is probably their living and dining room, too. Ambiance is not the purpose. Food is. I thought about giving 4 stars because of ambiance, but take out is an option. I went to eat, not to be soothed. Great place!

Delicious. I went here with a friend who had some sort of coupon that was $50 gets you $100 worth of food, so we pretty much ordered half the menu. And it was all great. To start, most of us got Thai Iced Tea, which was really good. The only disappointment was that they used half and half instead of sweetened condensed milk, which is what I am used to. This is a great thing to order if you like to order your food spicy, since it helps cool your palate down between bites. Over the course of the meal, we ordered a lot of food, including fresh spring rolls, chicken satay, soup, salad with glass noodles, spicy mango salad, phad thai, green and red curry dishes, phad see eaw, a noodle dish with black bean sauce (the name is escaping me), mango and sweet rice and durian sweet rice. It was all really good. We ordered it spicy and it didn't disappoint. I can here with a large group and the place was very accommodating to us. The service was so-so, the waiter kept making comments about the amount of food we were ordering and how we went about sharing the food which I thought was kind of weird. But overall this was a good place and I would come back.

This place was delicious! My family and I visited from Kansas City and stopped here on the way home. The food was delicious, the women working were so nice and the prices were great! It cost about the same as McDonald's but it's about 1000000 times better! This place is definitely a good catch!

Some of the best Thai food I have ever had. This is not a location notable for its ambiance or excellent service (not saying either is bad, they just do not compare to the food). I'd suggest any of the curries, appetizers, or soups. The fried hard boiled eggs are strangely fantastic. The hot sauce on the table is dynamite too! Careful with the number of spice you order, I typically go with 5 and add the table pepper paste if it needs more. As a warning: I typically rate restaurants on food quality only.

We just ate our takeout! They got it made pretty fast- 15 min wait (for a sat night! Although it was 8:45 by the time we called to order- still impressive though). My husband ordered chicken Pad Thai (8) and I ordered Ginger Chicken (7). The staff was friendly when I walked in to pick up the order. They even offered me ice to take with when I added 2 (canned) 7ups at the register. I wasn't even that hungry, but I ordered something because my husband was getting something anyway. My ginger chicken was pretty good. The chicken was a little dry, but I'm fairly sure we placed our order pretty close to closing time so I wasn't surprised (nor disappointed because it still tasted great). My husband's pad thai was sooo gooooood. I feel like both our meals' heat was in good correlation with the numbers we gave while ordering. I wound up trading him meals 3/4 the way through because he wanted to try mine anyway. I finished his meal! Not bad for someone who wasn't hungry to begin with! We'll be ordering from here again

I've been back in Omaha for over 4 years. I love Thai food. How is it possible that I only had my first dining experience at Bangkok this week? I've probably driven by this place a thousand times and even once or twice when I wasn't drunk. It has a bright yellow door that calls out to you and says "Enter here for really good Thai food". Thankfully, my wife and I had lunch here. It was a Thursday so there was no lunch buffet. Needless to say, I am already planning my "buffet update". I had Pad Kee Mao at a level 8 spicy. Any restaurant that lets you adjust the heat numerically is a cut above the rest. When Mexican restaurants figure this out, I will probably develop a rare form of stomach cancer that only people who subsist only on habenero peppers ever get. The food was excellent, and I will be going back. Despite the fact that I didn't have to wait to be seated, nor did anyone else, I can imagine that finding seating, particularly on days with a buffet, might be a challenge.

My boyfriend introduced me to Bangkok cuisine earlier this year and I'm already hooked! Their Pad Thai is AMAZING I would say it's the best in Omaha. Service is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place

Overall, we had a nice meal. Service was excellent and our food came out quickly. I was a little disappointed with my pad Thai. The noodles were slightly too soft and there was too much sauce. There were no fresh bean sprouts, crushed peanuts or lime slices, which, in my experience, are standard condiments/accompaniments. Regardless, it didn't have the "bright & fresh" taste that I expect in great pad Thai. My friend loved his meal, though, so maybe I'm just too picky.

DO NOT EAT HERE! So dirty and smelly. I went here after reading other Yelp reviews, I ordered the Beef and even ordered by number (#112) when I got back it was chicken. In addition I ordered 2 egg rolls and when I went to pick up the order they forgot them. The food was greasy and what little taste the food has was horrible.....stay away!

  • Jessica C.

I ordered the Panang Beef curry here, which is my favorite Thai dish. The flavor wasn't bad, but I ordered it medium spicy, which is usually perfect for me, and it was little more bland than I expected. Also, the meat serving size was very small. They gave plenty of rice with the meal, but the amount of meat I received seemed small for the price. This restaurant is quite close to me, and I do love Thai food, so I will likely return, and I hope to be more impressed in the future.

This has been one of my best thai restaurant for last 9 yrs. Food is excellent. I tried fried fish last week and it was superb. my friend tried good old thai fried rice and he was pretty impressed. I recommend this if you want some delicious food and don't care about other stuff. Pretty much mom and pop restaurant. Pluses: Excellent food. Minuses: Parking. Best to park on a small parking lot just a couple of yards on the southwest lot.

Best Thai food in Omaha, and on a level with stuff I've had in places like Portland, San Francisco, etc. I crave the curry, and we must stop every time we're in Omaha. The atmosphere would be great if they didn't have that gargantuan TV blasting some really crappy stuff all the time. That is my single complaint, though. I should admit a little bias, because the owners always recognize us and they love our kids. All three of our kids have visited the kitchen multiple times, and they always whip up a little something extra for them. But hey, when a 3-year old white kid from central Nebraska lists gaeng garee as one of her two favorite meals, you gotta figure something's right. I recommend going mid-afternoon, after the lunch-buffet crowd has cleared out. But then I'm willing to eat mid-afternoon to avoid a crowd. I guess that's not typical.

  • Sara S.

This restaurant came so highly recommended from all my american friends. I found the menu to be a bit on the small size, but loved the atmosphere, and I liked the spice levels, which allow to go as high as 5, which was a very respectable spicy, unlike many thai places I've encountered. The food itself was enjoyable, but not amazing. The vegetarian options are good, and I love the hole-in-the wall vibe, but I don't know if I'd go over three stars. Very very decent thai food.

I love this place, I really do... The Food: The food here is excellent, fresh, authentic, and prepared very quickly. I personally like to order the basil chicken (5 on the spice scale) and a few egg-rolls as an appetizer. The only thing that I could muster that even remotely resembles a gripe would be that I would like the portion sizes to be juuuuuuuuuuuuust a hair bigger but then again I'm a pig. The Service: The fella that owns the place is friendly, the wait staff is accurate, quick and attentive. Never had a problem here! The Pricetag: The prices are average, no worries about breaking the bank here! The Atmosphere: Well, it's a small little restaurant in downtown Omaha with various decorations etc. It's great.

  • Jerome R.

An awesome little place on a downtown Omaha street that's just about completely empty at night. Have dinner here and you'll have the whole place to yourself. Great service, and it's run by a nice family who watch their little black and white TV as they work (I'm forever a sucker for unpretentiousness). Everything I've ever eaten here was fantastic, from the Spicy Beef Salad to the Pad Thai, and the prices were always very reasonable.

I'm pretty unadventurous so I ordered Thai fried rice. It was pretty blah and seasoned with black pepper. It didn't have any chopped green onion or tomato or the overall flavor you typically find in Thai fried rice. I also ordered an iced coffee which was extremely bland. I can't remember what my sister ordered but she said it was okay. Dunno why mine sucked.

GD I love handing out 4 stars to hole in the wall looking restaurants with funny orange type on the windows!!! Best damn food I have had in a long time! Can't wait to try everything freakin thing on the flimsy menu. I don't even remeber what I got but it was Huckin Fot as Shit, some seafood salad dish- I did a point and go (I know I'm so adventurous) Anyway- when they say 10 pepper spice and I said OK-they weren't messing around like most places do, e.g. 10 pep spice means 1+0 spice...and then the waiter was like "Did you like the extra chilis I threw on the rice" (I think he was messing with me, not knowing I am a the Supreme Pepper Eating Champaroo)...we now have like 11 or 12 pepper spice...upon which I for some unknown reason I dumped some chili sauce on top...sooo I'm getting to point- It was hotter than a sandbox in hell...but damn good- next time I'll stick to 8 or 9 for the sake of my espohagus... I can't wait to get back here !

  • Sir C.

Best pad-thai I ever had out of all the thai restaurants I have been to. Everywhere makes it sweet, this is the only place that makes it spicy and salty! Love it!!! I also had their tom yum soup, lemon grass chicken, and thai fried rice. All of which were superb and for dirt cheap. 2 eggrolls, 2 thai iced tea, 3 entrees, and a side soup for 31$...are you kidding me? Its hard to believe coming from Chicago (the great culinary city) that I find the best thai food in Omaha.

    (5)
  • Shradha G.

The pad thai was dry as a bone and the beef in it was really overcooked. It lacked flavor but it was spicy considering i ordered an 8 on a spicy scale of 10. The yellow curry (also beef) was pretty good. Prices are very reasonable for what the food is. I probably won't be going back here.

I've been to many Thai restaurants being that I am in love with tofu. The actual exterior and interior of the restaurant can be a little quaint -- the yellow door makes one wonder and the chairs weren't the most comfortable. What matters, to me however, is the service and food. The service was very friendly. I got a great explanation of their hotness rating where 3 is "Jalepeno", although I didn't really consider the 3 that hot. The scale went from 1 to 10. The menu was not as diverse as other Thai restaurants I have been to but it was not lacking either. There was the typical meat choices and the delicious offering of tofu. There was some fish entrees as well. The Thai Iced Tea was great. As far as speed goes, I got my meal very, very fast. In fact, for a Thai restaurant, it is the fastest I have experienced. The food.. wow. It was all so very, very fresh. The green peppers, bamboo shoots and curry was heavenly. It was the first time I ever had bamboo shoots and actually, really -- really liked them. The place was not too busy but it was like late afternoon so I am not too surprised. Yum. Prices were CHEAP for Thai too! 4/5

Best Thai in Omaha! The Pad Thai is fine, sure. But, the best dishes on the menu are the Tom Kah soup and Yum Woon Sen. Give them a try, and you will not be disappointed!

We went to this place on a whim, but it's been the best Thai food I've had in Omaha. The flavors were great and I'm really looking forward to trying some more menu items. Although not as trendy or well-decarated as places like Thai Pepper, the flavor, price, and portions make Bangkok Cuisine a much better bet.

  • S A.

I love a whole in the wall kind of place and the yellow door definitely intrigued me, but this place gets another "it'll do" from me. It's close to work, so easy enough to pick up some affordable thai on the way home. On the other hand, I was hoping for phenomenal food and got average. So, it'll work as a stand-by for take out, but I'll have to find another place for when I need an amazing Thai meal.

    (3)
  • Jessica K.

I'm a spice wussy. I order my Thai food at a level 0. At other Thai places, this has meant that I ordered my food without flavor. Not so at Bangkok Cuisine. The Pad Gai Kua with no spice at all is so tasty that I crave it regularly. Thank goodness it's so affordable. Just think how good it must be with all that spice I can't tolerate!

I had a hard time debating whether this restaurant deserves 2 stars... I also had a hard time figure out how much I disagree with other reviewers, which really isn't a surprise because I rarely do. Long story short: Decor: old; Smell of the restaurant: unappertizing: waiter: slow; Chef: even slower; serving size: small. Worth it? NO! Second visit? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! (You must have nothing to do and don't mind wait 30 minutes for a small dish when there are only 2 other tables with 5 customers total)

Best Thai Food in Omaha. They have a lunch buffet couple days a week that is insane. Family run business, mom is usually cooking, father and son take orders. I usually call 10 minutes ahead and get order to go.

I love thai food!! And since i moved here to Omaha, i can't stop going to this place. You know this place is quality because it's tucked away like a little secrete and it's family owned which means is authentic! If you're driving down Farnam and you see a bright yellow door, STOP, go in, and order the chicken pad thai. It's some of the best pad thai i have ever had. So good in fact that i can't bring myself to order anything else when i go there. I did finally try some of their curry (lunch bufett) which was also excellent. If you feel like treating yourself, check it out!

One of the better Thai restaurants in Omaha. Unlike what one reviewer here says, their food is full of flavor and can be VERY spicy! Very cheap compare to most Thai restaurants. While true their food is mostly noodle, that is what most Thai food is! If you want a lot of other things (meat, veggies) look into a Chinese restaurant!

  • Tracey N.

Everyone says how good this place is, but I was disappointed. Maybe its because I've eaten a lot of Thai food in Hawaii or maybe I did not order the right dishes. I had the tom yum shrimp soup which was ok but not spectacular. Usually the broth is more clear and lemony. Here, I think it was a little tomatoey or something. Just not quite right. I also got the spicy beef salad. When I've had this at other places, the beef was thin and tender with fish sauce and lemon flavor over fluffy lettuce, onion slivers and tomato slices. This dish however had thick chunks of tough beef over chunks of iceberg lettuce and bell peppers. Not the most appealing. Maybe I'll give it another try and order something else since I have to be in Omaha for 5 more long days and everyone on Yelp is raving about it.

Definately one of the better Thai places I've been to! Everything I've tried here has been very good. The buffet is wonderful but they serve the same thing every day. You really should try this place! Fridays are pretty busy so either get there early or go earlier in the week.

This place was my very first experience with Thai food years ago. At first I thought why am I being taken here? It is just a little place in an old building. Nothing special in appearance. Since I had no idea what to order I allowed my date to do it for me. Pad Thai, medium hot. It came out very fast and was served steaming hot. From the first bite I was hooked. Since then I have tried most of the Thai restaurants in Omaha thinking they would all be about equal. Some are very good but I still keep coming back to this one all the time. If you haven't been here I strongly suggest you try it.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, and can be easy to miss from the street (if driving), but it is well worth the search, I think. It reminded me of a place I loved to go to while I lived on Okinawa, even down to the decor. I found the TV to be distracting, but it did drown out the other conversations a bit. Everything we tried was great; only complaint was that '8' on the spice scale should have been more spicy, and that the spices had a different flavor than expected - but that is probably more a regional thing. The prices were good, and in keeping with the portion size.

I'd venture to say that nowhere else offers the opportunity to slurp pad thai and watch movies on USA. Fantastic.
