Decent Mexican food, somewhat slow service. The menu has lots of options, both standard tex-mex and a wide selection of more authentic options. I had the steak tampiquenos, which was skirt steak, beans, and a chicken mole enchilada. The mole sauce was unflavorful, but everything else was pretty good. There was a little pico sauce on the plate which had some kick to it. I recommend getting guacamole to go with the chips.

If you go here and more then half the tables are full, walk out and go somewhere else. That is unless you have a couple hours to spare. The food here is good, the margaritas are weak, but there aren't many other choices around. If your order is wrong, or for some unforseen reason every order after yours comes out first, don't expect an apology or for them to even care.

The food was "meh." I guess no one in Nebraska has ever seen real Mexican food. Perhaps a road-trip to one of the other 3 Margaritas restaurants in the Denver Metro is in order. The wait staff had a very difficult time splitting the check in half. Food: 1 star. Service: 3 stars. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because at least they tried, and were friendly throughout the dining experience. Unfortunately, I can't really recommend this restaurant--unless you don't have any other choice. But, there's a McDonalds right next door. ;)

Fantastic puerco guisado verde. Margaritas honestly poured. Super friendly service. A fantastic bargain to boot. This place is awesome.

I agree with some of the other comments on here.. the food was really good but the Customer service not so great. I got the shredded beef enchiladas. The waitress asked if I wanted flour or corn tortillas, I said flour with extra enchilada sauce. she brought me corn tortillas with hardly any sauce. Getting refills on your drinks is impossible when they don't ever come back to your table. Also, our waitress slammed our drinks n food down on the table.

Good experience. We stopped by mid afternoon, and they still had patrons at this odd time. I had the Chilaquiles - a dish I don't expect to find much outside of Mexico. Having lived in central Mexico for 2 years, these were very authentic - it's a simple dish. The beans seemed homemade and were tasty. My husband got the fajitas with corn tortillas. He said the tortillas were good - more flexible than he sometimes finds, which made them easier to manage. I did not taste the tortillas. They have a tempting dessert menu, and a number of drink options. They have a colorful/festive decor. I'll consider this one of my go-to places when I pass through this area - a good find. Oh - they also have some nice flat panel screens on which they were showing a soccer match.

Good guacamole. Nice people. Great margaritas! Chicken fajitas were average. The Mexican pizza was ok. Burritos were great!

I've eaten here twice while on road trips- once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times the food has been amazing, it's been hard to decide which of the delicious looking menu items to order, and the gentlemen who served us have been very welcoming and have recommended good dishes. It's within walking distance of the hotels on Stagecoach Trail, which gives you an excuse to have an extra margarita without worrying about driving.

We were staying just down the road and this was recommended. They offer 15% off for our motel guests. We're more than a little impressed with out food! Especially good was the Ensalada Tapatia. We recommend this restaurant without any reservations.

The interior is colorful, the staff friendly. Too bad the food isn't as bold as the decor. I'm disappointed that such a highly rated place had such bland flavor! Perhaps, I ordered the wrong dish, but all items on a menu should be great-tasting! I ordered the veggie enchiladas. They had broccoli, mushroom, carrot, bell pepper, onion, and a red sauce. Served with ranchero cheese, avocado, diced tomato, rice, and black beans. I ordered it sans broccoli. I really don't understand broccoli in Mexican food...weird. I do, however, appreciate the use of authentic Mexican cheese(rather than a shredded American style), but it could used more. I almost never use salt, but I reached for that shaker. After asking for hot sauce, I dumped Tapatio on it and made it slightly better. There is salt, pepper, and sugars on the table only. Strange I thought. The guy at the register said, "Be careful. It's hot." I laughed to myself. "Please, silly man, I'm from California, burrito truck central. It's only Tapatio. Do Nebraskans not handle spice well?" I think to myself as I sit back down as the A/C is blasting. I'm muy frio even with a jacket. I know it's a muggy summer day in Nebraska, but come on! Service was a bit slow, but chips and salsa arrived promptly upon sitting down. Maybe cerviche or a burrito would be better. I hope so.

Portion sizes are huge. The place is rather small, but won't have trouble finding a spot. Customer service was quick and polite. The perfect place for a pit stop

A small restaurant next to the Holiday Inn Express. I had low expectations, but was quite impressed. The food was for the most part traditional, but above average in quality. There were many locals when I was there, and the draft beer was cold. I do recommend this place based on my single time eating here.

Just made a random stop here not knowing anything about the restaurant and was SO pleased. Hands down, the best taquitos I've ever had. Sooooo good! Very friendly, family owned biz.

Surprised in a good way! Fresh food, good prices, easy to find. The service was a little chaotic, I think it was the young staff, but they did great all in all...

Really like this place. Service is always fantastic, and there are a number of dishes that are a little more adventurous than the standard Mexican fare. Best Mexican place in Ogallala!

This HAS to be the best restaurant in Ogallala. Stopped for lunch on a trip from Omaha to Denver and loved everything about it. Great service, quick to the table, great menu... Aaaand, most importantly, the food was incredible. I had the Mole Enchiladas and they may have been the best I've ever. I fancy myself a Molexpert; so, order that. Eat here.

You know when you have such an exceptional dining experience you just want to keep coming back? I wish we weren't just passing through, but writing up a great review is the next best thing! After driving all day with a 4 year old and a 3 month old, we opted for an early dinner at Margaritas; well rated, walking distance, and a coupon from the hotel. We planned on just juggling the baby because she was not going to stand for any more time in the car seat and she's too little for a high chair. We nibbled on excellent chips and salsa and placed our drink orders. They had to send someone out to buy fresh milk for my daughter, but they did so rather than asking her to choose something else (which probably would have induced a tantrum). More staff was filtering in as we ordered (it was barely 5:00) and there was just one other table of customers. When our food came out, one of the waitresses came and offered to hold the baby. She walked around and bounced her the entire time we ate. All of the staff played with the baby, making faces and tickling. It was the most relaxing meal I could have hoped for and the food was delicious. Exceptional service, above and beyond what was required. Go and enjoy this family friendly establishment!

Generous portions of traditional Mexican fare. Outstanding chips and salsa before the meal and very attentive wait staff. Not the largest restaurant so large groups might want to call ahead. Prices are reasonable and this is a chain location so if something doesn't work - it would be easy to locate management. No complaints - but the 5th star could be earned by allowing more substitutes (not everyone likes refried beans).

If you like Mexican, skip the other places here and try this restaurant. My wife and I are traveling through to Alaska on our motorcycle and we found this gem. Great salads and traditional fare. I had heuvos rancheros with a couple of Dos Equis Ambers. It is a little small so you may have to wait. It is worth it.

The new Margaritas is awesome. We have had burritos, carne asada, and chili relleno. The chili relleno is dipped in egg not deep fried with nice amount of cheese and the carne asada was very good. Very impressed.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
