Sakura offers a more upscale dinner option for Norfolk. I have been on both the dining side and the grill side. Both sides are nice and good service for the most part. The grill side is fun and the cook is always funny and keeps you entertained. The food is great and you can order sushi from the grill side. I usually go for the sushi and sneak food off my husband's plate. The only downside of ordering sushi from the grill side, is a few times I feel like they forgot about me. Everyone had been served their food and I was still waiting for my Sushi. The quickly got it for me once they realized what was going on, but I don't appreciate being forgotten about when everyone else is already eating. The dining side is nice, and you can order the Hibachi from that side as well. It usually doesn't take long at all to get your food and it is always excellent. The sushi is always great and picture perfect. I would recommend this for anyone looking for great sushi in the area, or a fun meal with the family. However, the down side it is quite pricey, but it is sushi and that is to be expected.

Great hibachi. Delicious, entertaining, and fast. What else could you ask for? I ordered the hibachi filet mignon medium rare, and they cooked a great piece of beef to perfection. It is a hibachi grill only, so don't come in expecting to have a 10-oz filet ever sitting on your plate -- the meat will be sliced and diced to perfection before it lands on your plate. The requisite utensil flipping, fire show (including the onion volcano), and chopping skills were on display. The sake and beer selection could be a little more robust, but I can understand how that might be an expensive proposition for a business that just started.

The rice was stale, and the manager embarrassed one of his employees in front of everyone. The fish on top, and inside, the sushi was fine, but the rice was hard. Our server was a super sweet young girl, who did a great job. However, she made a mistake on the table next to us; she misheard them when they asked for a lobster roll. She had thought they said ' Boston roll". The manager caused a big scene, refusing to comp the mistake and embarrassing her in front of all of her tables. When the table went to pay, the server picked up the payment and then the manager made a point to say something rude to her and snatch it out of her hands. We, and the table involved, both felt really bad for her- actually striking up a conversation about how uncalled for his actions were. On the way out, we thought we could help the situation by letting them know that our server did a great job. When my boyfriend tried to stop the manager and tell him that he liked the server, and that maybe next time he shouldn't treat her like that, the manager actually did a motion in my boyfriend's face like he was shooing away a cat, and walked away from him in mid-sentence. We turned to the bartender and asked who was the manager's boss, and the bartender said no one- the manager was the highest ranked person in the building. We feel bad because that girl was like 20 years old, super nice, and newly pregnant, and we might have gotten her fired by trying to help.

Sakura was AWESOME! I'm tempted to say that it outdoes both of these restaurants in Omaha. The couples in my party opted for the Supreme for 2- which includes soup, salad, fried rice, veggies AND filet, chicken, lobster, scallops AND shrimp! It's 60 bucks, and well worth it. We also sampled some sushi, and the Norfolk roll was quite delicious. Our tableside cook was fantastic, he really took his time at our table- making little jokes with all of us. He was the best I've ever seen in terms of that. They also have a really fun drink menu, I shared a Volcano with others at the table- full of juices and various liquors with a shot of 151 in the middle- it came lit on fire! I'm so glad that Norfolk finally has something like this, and I hope it's permanent!

I'm a frequent customer. After moving to Norfolk from SoCal, I was dying for a better place to eat and thank goodness Sakura opened! Their sushi is solid. The fish is some of the best I've ever eaten anywhere-- it's high quality, fresh and tasty. I love their salmon, which they apparently get from Sweden or something. The only downside is that they don't carry more exotic items like sea urchin, simply because there isn't enough demand for it in Norfolk. Speciality rolls are a little on the pricey side, but they are well done. When I'm there, I always get an assortment of sashimi, the spicy tuna roll and spider roll, and I'm never disappointed. Though, sashimi cuts are sometimes inconsistent, but that's alright. They also have great udon noodle soup. I've only done the hibachi grill thing once, and it was fun, but I mainly come here to quench my thirst for raw fish. I don't much care for their assortment of cocktails, which are a little too foo-foo and sweet. Their wine selection leaves something to be desired, but I don't need to eat sushi with alcohol. Decor and ambiance is unlike anything you will get in Norfolk. It's the nicest place to eat within a hundred mile radius. Perfect place for a special dinner date or get-together. The staff are always kind, and up for friendly conversation. I go there enough that they recognize me now. I highly recommend Sakura. If you're in the Norfolk area, this is a great place to try something new.
