People seem to be intimated by this place. Here's a simple how to guide- Contemplate yummy pizza topping combinations Step up to counter look at menu below, choose to build your own slice by naming a sauce, a couple kinds of cheese, and toppings, as many as you would like. Or choose from the list of combos they already thought of. Order your beer or pop Give your name Grab fork and napkins at the table directly behind you Find a seat Wait to hear your name muffled over the loud speaker, listen closely bc they like to ad-lib nick names to yours and you don't want your pizza to die in the window. Grab said pizza at window and make sure to grab your butter for your bread while there Eat, clean up your table, put plates and forks in the little window next to where you got your pizza Take beer glasses or pop glasses back to the bar. My favorite slice to make- Marinara, chicken, cream cheese, onion and black olive

I did not think that the food in this place lived up to the hype. I ordered a 12 inch pie (make your own) with cheese and pepperoni since I wanted something a bit more basic (I've been fine dining for most of the week). Mistake. The pizza was so bland. I also ordered the garlic bread and it was just OK absolutely nothing special and wouldn't order again. The atmosphere is decent. The guy announcing when your order was ready was a hoot. Bathrooms had cool decor with different types of beer cartons stapled to the walls. I would give it another try and get one of the "world" slices, but the make your own option was a definite disappointment.

This craft beer selection is on point. Yia Yia's houses a completely overwhelming number of bottles and a decent tap. The pizza isn't too bad either- giant slices of standard thin crust with completely customizable toppings which you can order by the slice. I'm lactose intolerant so having the option of vegan cheese on the menu is pretty killer! I ended up crafting my own slice with marinara, vegan cheese, chicken, spinach, and sun-dried tomatoes. Definitely check this place out if you haven't yet. It's a unique experience, fun, and a great place to grab a casual bite with friends. You won't leave hungry or thirsty.

This is an interesting place. The beer selection is truly excellent: it's a ridiculous quantity of beer to have by the bottle, the on tap list is pretty large and is't just a bunch of common standards brews everyone has. They even have a relatively good collection of sours, which are rare to see in any quantity above a couple. The pizza is available in any size in any combination of their toppings and are then cooked by the slice to order. I like this in that you can try a few different things without having to purchase whole pies, but the downside is that it's less than optimal for the crust. However, for the style of pizza that it is, it is really excellent. Though I'm usually more of a "less is more" sort of guy when it comes to pizza, I went all out and was not disappointed. The Polynesian was wonderful, a total winner. I would pooh-pooh a pizza with this many ingredients normally, but I was instead left wanting a second slice. The Local and The Plains were both less stunning, but still delicious. I'm also confused as to why they serve bread with pizza... pizza *is* bread... but it's also the plains/midwest and I suppose there can never been enough meat or carbs, so why not. Highly recommended.

Is there a beer they don't have or a mixed drink they can't do? Short answer is no. Beautiful building inside and small patio outside. 1 star off because I've not had a chance to give the food justice. Will be back

Might not be the best pizza ever, but this is the place to go to in Lincoln, NE. Great environment, great service, relaxed, chill, easy going. 5 STARS

At $3 a slice, it's more expensive than what you'd expect at a pizza shop. But this place freshly bakes your choice of pizza and it's definitely a different pizza eating experience (lol). Huge slice of made-to-order pizza, with a harmonious selection of toppings for each of their "specials". It's mostly self-serve -- you order at the front then wait for them to call your name to get your pizza, so can't say much about service, but food was great + well worth the price. Though I can't say much about beer, looked like there was a huge selection bottled and on tap to choose from and what many people come here for. But idk, the pizza was good : )

Get the Greek pizza. Tasty sauce and vegetables. That feta cheese though. Piss and Altoid mints: what the men's bathroom smells of. But the food? It's good. Haiku review.

I've always enjoyed Yia Yia's. It has some of the best pizza-by-the-slice around. Add in a stellar selection of craft beer and an impressive wine menu, and you have a Lincoln institution that's a beloved casual hang out for the locals and a must-try for visitors from far and wide. Yia Yia's is so good that I whenever I'm in Lincoln I pretty much always end up eating here and forgoing a chance to try one of the many, many wonderful eateries Lincoln is currently overflowing with. Sucks being a pizza addict sometimes. There was rumors years ago about Yia Yia's opening a second location in Omaha. Somebody still needs to get on that, ha.

3.5 stars to be exact. Yia yia's is A fun spot to catch up with friends especially if you have a big party. Its an order and pay at the counter set up, so you don't have to worry about splitting the bill and having your cheap friend forget to include the tip :) Everything is pretty much build your own... you can get anything from a slice of pizza to a whole pie, to a build your own salad, with plenty of beer on tap. The food is tasty, but nothing spectacular. Their pizza thin crust, so one slice is not quite enough. But a salad is plenty big for an entrée, or to split between two or three people. Overall, A for effort but falls a little short on flavor.

I love this place. It was a favorite of mine when the original owners were here and it's kept getting better under Nader. There are places where success has lead to complacency (Lazlo's, I'm looking at you), but this is clearly not the case for Grandma's (Yia Yia = grandma in Greek). Service - 4.5 stars: knowledgable staff and cooks who know what they're doing. It's bar style, no waiters or anything, but that style works here and it adds to the comfortable, casual atmosphere Food - 5 stars: superlative beer and topping selection (lots of high-quality options). Excellent thin crust pizza that isn't soggy or floppy. The stuffed potatoes and breads are good too. The salads aren't super bomb, but they're totally decent if you've got some hippies in your life who want to order a salad at a bar. Ambiance - 4.5 stars: comfortable/cool wooden benches and tables with good outdoor seating for those milder days. Good music playing at an appropriate volume and a good vibe overall. Price - 4.5 stars: entirely reasonable for the service and product. PS: the bar staff is great, but don't forget the cooks. They get tipped separately and they deserve some love too. Go there, get a pint and a slice, be happy!

I have been coming here when there was a door directly to 1427. This is by far the best pizza in Lincoln. Best selection in toppings. Great crust. Every bite is full of flavor. They have a great section of beers The crowd is always very eclectic and always welcoming. It is a great display of Lincoln's great hospitality.

Oh Yai Yai's, I remember when you first opened in Lincoln so many years ago. I thought you were so awesome, so cool. So, of course we had to go on my recent trip back "home" and it hadn't changed a bit. Some huge selection of beers, same loudspeaker shouting telling people to pick up their pizza (Andrew, did you ever pick up your slice?). Place was packed as usual, the beer was fine but the pizza I just don't get. Oh well, you'll always have a place in my heart.

Ya ya ya... people talk... but i can see why people talk about Yia Yias! Pizza is made to order, even by the slice! Beers on tap are legit, pizza is ON POINT and the staff is always in a hurry. Enjoy some oily goodness and chill on a nice brew. Come with friends or family the atmosphere caters them all.

Overview: Great place to grab some pizza with friends Food: I had the Hawaiian Pizza, don't remember exact ingredients on it other than the typical ham and pineapple, but it was really good! I would recommend that you go with friends and share the large pizza for the best deal. That pizza is huge! It is a good deal and will feed your friends. A single slice can get pricy though. Atmosphere: I love the location (on O street in Lincoln) and the building. It gives the old timey feel and I love the tin roof and what they have done with the place. Overall, I would recommend Yia Yia's to anyone looking for a great place to grab some pizza.

Yia Yia's came highly recommended and while I enjoyed my visit, I think it has some things to work on. Mostly its personality. I walked up and grabbed a seat at the bar and gave the menu a once over. After a bit a gentleman behind the bar came over and took my order, which was a big slice special (basically a slice of pizza and a small salad.) So far so good. After a couple of minutes he dropped off my salad, but didn't bring the silverware. After a good amount of time I was finally able to flag somebody down who informed me that the silverware was located along the back wall. Noted. Moving on, after a couple of minutes my pizza was up and it was well worth it. I ordered "The Pacific," which was a pizza with marinara, cream cheese, ham, pineapples and bell peppers... a nice little riff off of a Hawaiian pizza. It was one of the better slices I've had and I can't recommend it enough. I'd put it up there with some of the New York and Chicago pizza I've had. Beer geeks, this place looks to be the Midwestern mecca of beer. They had coolers set up with different countries' styles and a huge beer list for you to look through. I wish they would have added notes on the menu to suggest what beer to pair with which pizza or dish. That would have been a helpful to somebody like me who enjoys good beer, but isn't sure of all of the styles and complexities. However if you know your beer then you'll love this place. Servicewise, my visit was just a little off. A couple sitting next to me was enjoying a date night and trying the place out for the first time. They tried chatting up one of the bartenders about the area, what was going on next door, the Huskers and even just life. The gentleman seemed genuinely upset that people were trying to talk to him and was quite gruff with his answers. Maybe he was having an off night? I don't know, but I would have bought a second beer from him if he would have come back over. I also wish that the bartenders or even a server (if there was one) would ask if a customer had been there before and if not, alert them to ordering at the register and getting their own silverware. It's not much and I think a little could go a long way when it comes to enhancing somebody's dining experience.

Pizza and beer are important parts of life. I value both equally and highly in my life (priorities...). I am also gluten free, so life is rough sometimes. Luckily this place has a gluten free beer option, the typical bottles o'mission, and some ciders. They also have a gluten free pizza crust. The crust is Udi's, not homemade, and I've had better, but at least they tried! The beer menu is HUGE so if you can have all of the gluten-filled beer you want, this seems like the place to go. Overall it seems like a cool place to hang out. The back seating area is pretty dark. They have an outdoor patio which is nice if its not super windy. In the end, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a casual beer and some funky pizzas. Their ingredient list was long and they offered some unique options.

  • Daniel A.

I've been here a few times now. The ingredients are good quality and the beer is really good. However the crust is always burnt underneath. This is okay sometimes, but because the crust is so thin, the burnt taste overpowers the rest of the pizza and the ingredients. I really like the ambience of this place.

Ok, I decided to add an update to this. I don't know if the vibe changed or if I am feeling hip because of a new haircut. Maybe a coincidence- not sure. Regardless, during my past two visits, I was greeted by very pleasant people at the counter. Bomb pizza, nice counter folks, and self esteem intact. A +.

Jim S We were visiting Lincoln and stopped by for lunch. This place is one of my favorite restaurants/bars. You order drinks/food at the bar and pick up when ready. The pizza was very good. They have a large list of beer to choose from. The decor is very nice. Old wooden floors, benches, tables, etc. There were classic pictures of French products on the wall. There is also a ping ball table in the back. The family and I played after eating. Of course we had some beer/wine to help our game. My favorite is the background music. Some kind of Indie/Dark/Atmospheric music. Overall just a great place to hang out....

I have eaten here several times and enjoy quite a few things about it. The first thing that hit me is how vast their menu is and the fact that it hasn't changed over the years. I suppose it is a something for everyone mentality. I've always enjoyed Yia Yia's and order a different pizza each time I go there. It has some of the best pizza-by-the-slice around. Add in a stellar selection of craft beer and an impressive wine menu, and you have a Lincoln institution that's a beloved casual hang out for the locals and a must-try for visitors from far and wide. With that being said, they could improve this place a lot with just a few minor changes: 1. The service is extremely slow. You have to stand in line to order. This is a bummer, especially if you are in a hurry. 2. The place is not clean. Their menus are laminated but usually something old is sticking to them. 3. It isn't a sports bar so they don't have any TVs on a game day. Why not have them just for game days? 4. They aren't very friendly. Other than those few complaints, it is a good place to go and we would go back.

  • Aaron V.

Overall we had a good experience. Food was unique and well prepared. While service wasn't terrible, it could have been better. It is quick service so you order at the front, get your own napkins, silverware, etc... and then they call when your food is ready. Don't mind any of that, but we felt a little put off by the staff when we did interact. Be aware, they will nickel and dime you when they can (drink refills .50). It wasn't enough to keep is from going again though as we did enjoy the food. We had a larger group and were able to take over the back of the restaurant. There was a ping pong table the kids could play with. While seating isn't ideal, it was nice to have the section to ourselves.

Omg BEER list! This was one of the best beer lists I encountered while staying in Lincoln last week. They have a bunch of tasty pizzas to choose from. My friend and I chose the special slice option, which includes a huge slice of pizza (your choice!), bread (gross), and salad for just over $6. I got a slice with bacon, potatoes and broccoli. That's totally healthy, right?! The bread was kinda hard. And the salad was primarily iceburg lettuce...erm what? But you don't come to Yia Yia's for bread or salad--you are there for the beer! And pizza. It's a fun place--the crowds rolled in at 5:30, which included lots of families. What a cool restaurant in Lincoln!

After reading so many great reviews decided to give it a try. Pizza wise, not great at all. The cheese they used was nothing special, the pizza dough was very heavy. The bar was great, but I'm basing my review solely on pizza because that is the reason I went there in the first place. Nice place and good atmosphere but the pizza sucks...

  • Tim L.

To the point. ... Beer menu is great. I do think they push for number of beers offered over true beer quality. Pizza is unimpressive. The combinations are interesting but cheap ingredients (terrible chicken, the subway kind). And giving everyone bread with pizza seems strange. I'd go there for a beer but won't return for food.

I love Yia Yia's pizza. I'm not a big bar person, so I could do without the bar scene but if you're going out for drinks anyway, this is a good place to be. You can order by the slice or order a big pizza to share. The roll on the side is not good and makes no sense at all! They also have an expansive selection of bottled beer (375 choices) and menus to peruse so you can take forever to decide. But I recommend coming up with a couple options because sometimes they are out. When I enjoy my Yia Yia's I prefer it to go because the truth about this place is the pizza is the bomb. The crust is SUPER thin and crispy and mmm, I want some now. And the combinations are creative and delicious. The Southern is one of my favorites and has white sauce with ground turkey, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, spinach, onions and mozzarella. The Atlantic is also very tasty and has white sauce with chicken, bacon, potato slices, broccoli and mozzarella. The American is good, the Milano. Just really great combinations!!

I've got a lot of love for Yia Yia's pizza. Pretty much everything on the menu is superb (although the Greek and Mediterranean are the best). Allegedly, they have great beer too. Even though it's pricier than other pizzerias, I never regret my purchase. If you're thirsty, and not getting alcohol, you can ask for your drink in a large mason jar. They also have great vegetarian options and are able to accommodate gluten intolerance with their "potato pizzas". Definitely check it out.

Pretty good but it's not pizza. Get rid of the dumb piece of bread on each place. Great beer selection.

This place is the best. First of all, the pizza is the best in town. Secondly, the service is incredible. I dropped two pizzas on the ground and they were awesome enough to hook me up with two new ones. Thanks Yia Yia's. Y'all are the best.

I'm weird when it comes to pizza. There's very few times where I crave pizza/pizza delivery just because I don't really like what Lincoln has to offer for it. However, for a local eat that also serves great food, Yia Yias wins my heart. My personal favorite is the Francois (blue cheese, walnuts, etc) which sounds very strange at first and almost kind of turned up my nose to it because this also happened to be the first slice I had ever had from Yia Yias. I thought the Francois was so good though that it actually took me a while before I finally was like "Okay, I actually need to try some of the other options" instead of always ordering the same thing. Haha! If you're a beer snob/love good craft beer, Yia Yias is THE BEST/widest selection. It's overwhelming where to even start. Laid back atmosphere, don't mind the fast-casual service aspect of it. I'm able to order my food, wait for them to call my name, go & get it when it's ready and leave whenever I'm done. If I need anything else, just go up to the bar and ask. :)

  • Dave J.

Read the reviews and after not being amazed by deep dish in Chicago, I was pretty impressed by the thin crust slices they served me. Atlantic and the Local were both good, and while the beer was a bit flat, the list was huge, the ambience cool and artistic and the staff friendly. Would go back.

absolutely lackluster pizza for the first time. I've been coming here for over 3 years and almost always had good beer and good pizza. as of now they do not have vegan cheese so to make a vegan pizza your option is a cracker with tomato and onion. the lady said it was great, I wholeheartedly disagree. I cut myself on the thin crust. it looked like the sauce topped with only an onion and tomato. even the water had more flavor. if they ever run out of Daiya again I will walk across the street I eat a bread from pickleman's. as usual I had to do some beer to make it better. the old Eastern Pizza should come with a coupon for 3 beers. such a disappointment for a place is always good

  • Niki B.

Decided to check this place out from a friend's suggestion. I really like the atmosphere. It reminded me of some cool places in OKC, so it was already winning in my book. The beer selection seemed pretty extensive, although I couldn't find any drink prices. I ordered a Western pizza, which was a veggie-style pie with wheat crust. I think the ingredients were pretty fresh, but the wheat didn't seem like it worked well for a pizza crust, at least not for me. I would definitely check it out with friends for a drink and a slice. Perhaps a different crust next time for me, though. Also, the bread that comes with the pizza was a cool addition, too.

  • Steph H.

Have to say, i wasn't thrilled w/ my last experience there. Was initially excited because they have vegan pizza, but when i went, their cheese was out, so I had mine w/out, and it wasn't great. The bread was not as good as I remembered it either. Also, the place was so busy, the only place to sit was at the bar by the beer taps. It was dirty and there were these little gnats flying around all over the place.. gross, almost made me sick.

Have to say one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Shame it is half a country away these days.

I went to Yia Yia's with some friends the other night for some beer and noms. I called a day ahead to find out if they had any gluten free options for me, to make sure I would be able to eat. The woman who answered was really nice and let me know they do carry one gluten free beer, have lots of salads, and potatoes that are all gluten free. When I got to Yia Yia's I went to order a potato and asked the woman at the cash register if the items they put in the potato are gluten free. She made a comment that "potatoes are gluten free"...as if I wasn't aware of that already, my issue was with the noms inside the potato. She then asked the other woman at the neighboring cash register who just nodded yes. I probed further making sure the sauce was and she assured me again it was. Food took awhile to get out, I was surprised to wait about 20 mins for my food. When they called my name my potato had a big piece of bread sitting on top of it. I apologized to the cook and told him I'm gluten intolerant and can't eat it with that level of contamination and he was upset they had not labeled the ticket "gluten free" and told me the sauce had flour in it. Well that was super annoying since I'd been very specific about asking. It took another 20 mins to get my potato, I was the last one to eat at the table. The positives though was that I was really impressed with the guy who addressed the issue. He checked with me to make sure each ingredient was okay, got me a different type of sauce and made sure they left of the big piece of bread. The potato was good, and all my friends seemed to really enjoy their pizza. The gluten free beer was terrible haha but no fault of yia yias. Price was also very affordable. I think my beer and potato were around 10 bucks. I know they also have music some nights and the atmosphere has a neat pub feel. I'd definitely go back, but I'll be sure and ask the kitchen before I order anything!

Best pizza in town! Unique toppings that are high quality. If I lived closer i would eat here all the time.

    (5)
  • Jason D.

The pizza here was super good and the service was awesome. The only reason I have this four stars is because they know that their pizza and beer choices are hella good so the price has been jacked up more than necessary. Overall, the food and service is excellent, price and ego are a little less than desirable

    (4)
  • Myra G.

Nothing special. The pizza dough is too dense and their cheese and garlic bread hardly had any garlic. The bread is way too thick and not that great. The ambiance and selection of beer is huge. But if you are there just to have a great tasting pizza, don't bother. I'm sticking with papa johns

  • Matthew K.

Every time I go here, I have to wait in line for a while to place my order, and the order takers treat me like I'm an inconvenience. They have a phenomenal beer selection and pretty good pizza, but they always treat me like crap, and if there is someone they know in line, they will skip right over you and help their friends. You really have to be a part of their clique to get good service.

Was back to Lincoln for s visit. I asked the guys at N St. Drive-in where to get some good Pizza. Downtown. Both guys replied YiaYia's. Took them up on it. I bought "The Local" and had them swap the bell pepper out fir jalapeños. The pie was huge, crust thin and crispy and ample amounts of sausage, pepperoni, olives and onion. Terrific selection of tap beers, too. I chose the Oatmeal Yeti Stout and it was rich, dark and delicious. You order from a counter-bar, and the pizza came out quickly. It was a Sunday around 5. The place was half empty but had a steady stream of customers. Quiet enough to converse. Pie was big enough I had half left over and my hotel room has a fridge. Dinner for tonight is covered.

One of my favorite places to dine and try out a new beer! The environment is ambient and cozy. I love that they don't put tvs in there. If you want a sports bar GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! The faces you see behind the bar are always the same which means it must be a great place to work! They're smart too, they can recommend what beer goes best with each slice. Get to know Ingrid and she'll give you a lesson on beer. Super affordable, best flavor combos, and down to earth staff. A+

My absolute favorite place in Lincoln for pizza. I'm not much of a beer-drinker, but I appreciate the assortment of hard ciders and other beverages they offer, as well as the unique pizzas by-the-slice and homemade bread, hot out of the oven served with butter. I like the Greek and Meditteranean pizzas the best. The only catch with Yia-Yia's is finding a place to park if you've driven there!

  • Liz P.

Meh...I've had better pizza...a little disappointed in the concoctions they've come up with on their menu. I had the Westerner which was good but the marinara was on the...umm..different side. My boyfriend had the Old Eastern and that was terrible. I want to love it here but I just don't. However, their beer selection is AMAZING.

Best beer selection in Lincoln, pizza is top of the line. Loses a point because the men's bathroom smells like a combination of urine and Skoal mint pouches?

I like the décor and feel of the old building. I used to stop here for lunch when I was in town on business but the place seems to be going down hill. Can't seem to get a fresh salad that is served with the daily special. Last time I was given lettuce that was brown looking, not fresh-- asked for a new one and the person behind the counter was rude with me- I believe she may have been the owner and that's the last time I was there and more than likely I will not return..

Love it. Spectacular beer selection on tap and in bottles, and super-solid food served with a good attitude. I travel to Lincoln several times a year on business, and always make it a point to stop by - always happy that that it did.

This is one of my favorite Lincoln spots. I've heard people complain about the staff being high and burning the pizza, but I've never had that experience. Though admittedly I've never been in there without having multiple adult beverages, so maybe my judgement was off. So I guess let's talk about the beer! Absolutely GREAT beer selections! A huge assortment of micros, and imports. This ain't the place to come in and order a Bud Light... but that's ok because it also ain't the kind of place to come in and order cheese pizza either! The pizza menu offers creative recipes for all different tastes, but none of it is boring! Meat eaters and veggie lovers will find plenty to be excited about. Though this is one of my favorite places to go with freinds and drink tasty beers it is by no means a hangout just for drunks. On my last visit there were several families with small children. I would not hesitate to bring the kiddos if they are with you... So yeah... I love Yia Yia's. If I have to pick one place to eat on "O" Street in Lincoln, this is it!

I've only been here once, so I really need to get back here and try new food. Having said that, the one I had was...surprisingly not good. I don't remember which it was, but it was too thin and not particularly appetizing. Plus you have to bus your own table. Which I guess isn't a big deal, but eh. I'll write a better review in the future, after I'd try more of their pizzas.

If you like dark, grimy, dive joints, pizza and beer this place is for you. If you are concerned about hot food, cross contamination, allergens, or cleanliness DO NOT COME. The finished product looks delicious and they have an encyclopedia of beers. The aesthetic is very vintage in a fun, college, hipster kind if way. Perfect for a beer club meet-up. The open kitchen is a total mess though. Ingredients and stuff all over the place like they just throw it in the air and hope for the best. Menus are filthy and sticky with dried food and whatnot. I got a loaded potato and it came out cold. Cold food that is supposed to be hot and melty is not ok. When I sent it back to be warmed again the guy was full of attitude and didn't even apologize. When it came back it was burnt. Everyone else was friendly enough though. NOT OK FOR ALLERGENS OR GLUTEN FREE. I know you're thinking "um, pizza and beer, not gluten free" except there are a load of other pizza joints offering safe contamination free options. This place is not one. They do not care. I gave 2 stars for the selection of pizza and beer options.

The Mediterranean pizza was quite good with a nice thin crispy crust. Based on other reviews, it helped that it was not very crowded during the summer. Amazing selection of bottled beers. The tap selection had only nasty flavorless wheat beers and heavy hitting ales, leaving nothing much in between appropriate for quaffing with pizza. The salad, while nothing special, was fresh and tasty.

Of the many parts of Lincoln I would love to move to Omaha, Yia Yia's tops the list. Good beer selection. Great music. And their thin crust pizza is the bee's knees.

Oh holy beer and pizza heaven. If there is one thing about Lincoln, Nebraska that I would pick up and move to Westport, it would be Yiayia's Pizza Beer & Wine. That is passing up on the Bourbon Theatre, Cultiva Coffee, and Jake's Cigars, so you know my passion for this place is real. (Jake's Cigars, Bourbon Theatre, and then Cultiva would be my next businesses to steal, in that order. It's a difficult choice for sure.) I've been to Yiayias 3 or 4 times now and each time I have left reminded of why I fell in love with it during the visit before. Vegan slices, beer! labled by the country and region it is from, hard to find options, and a great place to be introduced to local and regional brews from Nebraska, Iowa, even KC. This is where you are sure to find an abundance of Smokestack series offerings both on tap and in bottle. For example, this is where I found Chocolate Ale on tap two years ago and brought three bottles home with me-yes they sell beer too! This year I could have done the same with Grainstorm but we have plenty of that here and the Coffee Ale had not arrived in Nebraska yet. As for the taste and quality of food, you choose how adventurous you want to be. Make your own slice or choose from their off the wall combinations. Each slice is also served with a giant chunk of bread as a side-which seems a little overkill on the carbs but is good with their marinara sauce. A slice and piece of bread is enough for me if I'm not starving, but someone with a healthy appetite may want to order two or get something else to go with. The slices are deceivingly large in size but the crust is pretty thin so not as filling as a Yelper might expect. Prices are more than reasonable-I think I paid around $6 for a slice with dairy free cheese and had a beer or two so total was under $20. All in All, this pizza joint is more beer bar than pizza place but both options are awesome. Perfect for a quick bite on the go, meeting with friends, or even pre-gaming before a show at the Bourbon. It is easily one of the few places in Nebraska that make me sad we don't have here in KC. I'm already looking for another reason to get back to Lincoln and YiaYias!

I have been going here for a few beers and light food for 10 years. The place is always busy and vibrant with college students and long serving locals. The pizza always hits the spot without being greasy and over filled with bread which often sadly happens in America. The pizza has a more European feel with thin crust and fresh ingredients. The new whole wheat crust is a great new addition. There's so many beers to choose from it's outstanding. Just a great place to go in and try a new beer every time. I love the fact the staff are always willing to suggest new beers and constantly rotate the beers on tap. An institution in Lincoln so if your stopping downtown and need a light meal and an interesting beverage this is the place for you.

I got a large pizza and half a loaf of cheese sticks cost $40!! They charged 20% gratuity and it took almost an hour for them to show up and the pizza was cold! Not ordering from here again! Total rip off!

#1 Bar As a beer enthusiast this is my kind of place. They have so many beers in the bottle it is so hard to decide. They label what type of beer is in each section as to help you decide. One guys said the service was snooty and not very suggesting of a good kind of beer, I found the complete opposite. As knowing pretty quite a bit about beer it is easy to tell when a waiter has not clue about the beer but my waiter/bartender knew. They had many beers I had never heard of, let alone seen in Lincoln which impressed me beyond believe. Both the person I was with and I said we were going to "put it on the map" as we say when we find a good place. Great beer selection. #2 Food I got a medium pizza and loved every bit of it. My buddy also got a medium and we shared different slices. I did not overeat because I knew I would be going out that night so I got leftovers to go, not because I didnt like it but because I wanted it the next day too. I ate all the rest of my leftovers the next day. Great pizza toppings and great selection. What really sold me though was the pizza crust. WOW! I loved how you could get a whole wheat pizza crust. I was very impressed to say the least and will probably go there again this Sat. 6 out of 5 in Lincoln

This is probably the best pizza in Lincoln. The atmosphere is a bit bar-like(because it has a bar!) but its still a place I'd bring my kids without a second thought. The pizza has that wonderful wood-fired taste and lots of excellent creative toppings to choose from.

I live in Chicago now but I still crave Yia Yia's daily. Best pizza, freshest toppings, best beer selection...that crispy crust! The pesto! Here, let me say something helpful: The atmosphere can be intimidating so here are some tips-- --order at the register at the bar. Tips in the jar are much appreciated! --you literally cannot go wrong with the pizza. I always make my own combo, but if you can't decide pick one of the specialty slices. --it's vegan-friendly. Marinara/oil and herbs/daiya + all the veggie (and nut!) toppings you could want. --the baked potatoes are good if you need a break from pizza for some weird reason, but don't waste your time with the salad. Sub-par. Get some bruschetta instead. --local beers on tap! Get one! Or get a weird European brew in a bottle if that's more your speed. --while you're waiting for your food, get some napkins (and silverware if you're into that) from the table opposite the bar --they will call your name to get your food. Listen up! If you didn't tip before, you get another chance. --be careful carrying the pizza! Sometimes if you move too fast, a slice can slide right off the metal plate! Tragedy! --bus your own table. Cups go on the bar, trash goes in the trash, everything else goes in the little window. --the best time to come is lunch! Or weekend nights if you're a hipster and you want to run into everyone you know. Have a slice for me!

What can you say about Yiayia's? I guess, for outsiders, it can be confusing. You have to order at the bar. Why is the crust so thin? What is this bread doing on my plate? Sure sometimes the cooks are so high they burn the edges of your pizza or mess up your order. Sure it is way too busy on the weekends and it takes forever to get a drink. But for those of us in the know it is perfect for a weeknight meal when the weather is nice. Sit outside. Drink one of the many many beers. Get a slice and a side of pesto to dip your bread in. Watch the traffic go by. Ah Yiayia's.

the pizza are good, except it was more "toasted" than I would like, the prices can get expensive if you order by the slice because one slice isn't going to fill you up, they also serve a tasteless roll with your pizza(?) which does not make sense to me at all. These rolls are nothing special, customers would benefit more if they put that dough from that roll back in to the pizza, and get more pizza in the end. I know that was a bit confusing, but I honestly was confused. I have no idea how many of those stupid rolls end up in the trash bin, where it could have been at least given to the food shelter. I kid you not, I was looking around and no one was eating the rolls. I have to give them props for trying to be funny and witty when they're calling your name. Let me back up a bit, when you go inside, it's a first come first serve basis, you go to the ordering counter, tell them what you want, and they put the order in to the cooks, and they call your name when it's ready. Btw, one tip jar for the cashier who is not serving you, jbecause you go up to him, and he just takes your name, your money and your order, then on the other end of the bar, when YOU pick up your food, there's another tip jar for the cooks. I'm not a scrooge, but when I tip, I do like to be served food, it's like being in a school cafeteria, except there's no tip jars for the lunch lady or the cashier. oh, and there's no free refills for sodas, AND if you want more water, you have to actually go back in the line to the cashier just to get more water, it isn't hard to just put a giant water cooler in a corner somewhere for everyone. so Here's the breakdown: + 1 star for tasty pizza -1 star for the serving size and for the stupid tasteless rolls +1 star for the ambiance -1 star for the inaccessibility of water and -1 star for the lack of service but plenty expectant tip jars. I might come back again, IF i'm ordering to go and I get a whole pizza.

"BRIAN DID NOT OBSERVE THE SABBATH ON 5/2/10" Part I (Bar #1) Memoir: I put a lot of mileage on my shoes = I need a drink. Downtown Lincoln was absolutely dead on a Sunday afternoon. The light was shining on Yia Yia's and like a confused fly, I headed towards the light... and found beer heaven. The bottled beer selection here would embarrass 90% of California bars as they had beers from all over the world. Some notables: Chambly Noire (on tap) Pomme Lambic (on tap) Banana Bread Beer (interesting find) Black Sheep Ale Ommegang Abbey Ale Samuel Smith Yorkshire Stingo I ordered a glass of their Espresso Oak Aged Imperial Stout (Yeti). Oh boy! Creamy, hearty, rich and flavorful. $7.50 for a pint and worth every sip. Their pizzas looked delicious; I just had lunch and couldn't have any more to eat =(

Personally, my favorite local pizza place. The crust is thin and the toppings and cheese and sauce are proportioned just right, you won't feel bloated after eating there, just satisfied. Don't go there looking for great service. You order your food and drinks at the bar, pick up your food from the bar, and are expected to bus your own table. This is a no frills bar and pizza joint, they don't try to be anything else so you really can't complain. I personally steer clear of the specialty pizza slices, the toppings and sauce combinations on all of them doesn't sound the least bit appetizing to me, but to each his own. I generally get one slice with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and jalepenos. Always comes out perfect. Each slice comes with a slice of bread. Prices are unbeatable.

Pizza and beer are two of my favorite things (I know... healthy, right?) So I've been wanting to go to Yiayia's since I first heard people rave about it. The pizza all looked so good I couldn't decide which to try... I settled on the American, with jalapenos, corn, chicken and cilantro how could I not? The crust was fantastically thin and crispy, but not burnt in the slightest. The side salad was good - I wish more restaurants put onions in side salads - and the bread was homemade and delicious. Though I wish it had come out with the salad instead of the pizza, which I'll request next time. Oh yeah, they also have BEER. Holy moly, the beer selection at this place rivals that at Beeropia here in O-town. Luckily they made it easy for me with Rogue Sommer on tap. Honey, orange, wheat... mmm... I have to say that it totally lived up to my expectations. So why not five stars, you ask? I'm fairly certain it was two things... both of which are going to make me sound much older than I am. One - the music. Though good (did someone steal my iPod?) it was just too loud, for lunchtime, when I'd rather carry on a conversation with my family. Two - the restrooms. These are what I'll refer to as 'bar restrooms'. Bar restrooms are the kind of bathrooms where you think you're at a restaurant, but upon going to the restroom you discover you're really at a bar that serves food. Case in point: no trash can liners, toilets that didn't flush, drunken scribblings on the wall, and ultimately just dirty (despite the nice apron sinks). But to finish on a high note, the order-at-the-bar service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. I loved the wooden benches and art deco touches.

The good: Great atmosphere. Impressive selection of bottled beer. An interesting variety of draft beer, and "pizza from around the world" is a interesting concept. The bad: This is not really pizza. It's more like a doughy cracker with too many toppings piled on top. It is unlike any thin crust pizza I've ever had before-it is simultaneously too crisp (burnt) on the edges and doughy in the middle. It appears that they just pre-bake the dough and then load it up with strange assortments of toppings (that don't really reflect the regional cuisines they are named after) and toss it back in the oven. I ordered "the equator" which is a slice of cheese pizza. There was way too much cheese piled on top. It was the same cheap mozzarella you get on slices from the gas station or bowling alley. The cheese didn't fully melt (think frozen pizza that you're too impatient to fully cook). The roll was also terrible. It's the same dense pizza dough just rolled up and baked. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is also flavorless. I think the problem might be that they do not "proof" their dough, which would allow it to rise and become crispy. I also think that they probably just roll it out (making it more dense and nasty) instead of tossing it or stretching it. As I mentioned above, the draft beer is a pretty decent selection. When I first walked in, I noticed that they had one of my favorite beers (Lips of Faith) on tap! Then, I noticed that there was a little pink sticky note on the pull with some other beer's name on it. If you are going to charge $7.50 for (what appears to be a 14 oz) pint, you can pony up for the appropriate pull. I'm also pretty sure that the brewers wouldn't be too stoked to know you are pouring random beers out of limited release, premium-taps. In sum: Good effort and beer selection. Nasty pizza.

Yaiyai's is yum yum. Almost 20 years ago you might have found me (aside from sitting poolside at my best friends house getting stoned and listening to Jesus Christ Superstar and The Wall) praising a local pizza place called Valentino's. IN fact, most of Nebraska would feel the same about "Val's". In the years that followed, Val's turned into some sick joke on itself. It became corporate, uber-efficient, franchised and just more than it should ever have been, and all to the detriment of what made it just a Nebraska institution - the food. Today, as it was even 15 years ago, another pizza is in Lincoln and continually breaks all expectations and impresses. Yiayia's (man I wish their name was easier to type - and I type very fast) is the hands down best pizza in Lincoln, and in my opinion its held that title for 15 years at least. Handmade right in front of you, made fresh to order every time, with fresh and original ingredients. Thin, crisp crust. No-nonsense veggie sauce (there are a few kinds, but I am referring to the tomato). Happiness on a flour and water cracker, baked with attitude and love alike. Full bar, beautiful space, great vibe. I hope this place is there forever.

I was in Lincoln for a short trip and overheard a gentleman on the plane mention a place called Yia Yias. It was easy to find (right in the center of town), the ambience was my kind of place (hipster/college-y), and the food and beer were amazing! Price wasn't too bad either. This is definitely a must have if you're in Lincoln, NE.

Best pizza in town with a gargantuan beer selection from all over the world. Knowledgable bartenders and a calm and relaxed atmosphere. I have a lot of musician friends who travel through from time to time. I always recommend Yia Yia's first when asked the question, "Hey, what's good downtown?" Well, for one, Yia Yia's. Try the Atlantic or anything that has their pesto on it!

Good food made to order with a lot of really unique toppings for your pizza. The atmosphere is cool and the staff was friendly. I went there with some friends and we ended up staying there for 3 hours hanging out. It is a really relaxed and fun place to go get something to eat.

What can you say about Yiayia's that has not already been said? They have awesome New York style Pizza and a great selection of brews with great music about 80% of the time. There is a quote near the urinals: "Friendship is rape". Well played Peeing drunk jaded Dude... Well played.

We love Yia Yia's. So why the 3-star rating? We know how to navigate Yia Yia's. For others, it can be a little frustrating. The line to order food/beer gets very long on weekend evenings, and if you just want a beer - or especially a second beer - you will be waiting a while. Pizza and Beer: Yia Yia's menu has a number of theme pizzas to suit your taste. And you are allowed to substitute for one or more ingredients. You can also choose the international - you get your choice of sauce and then 5 toppings. The selection of topics is quite extensive and you'll be able to put something together that you like. It's good and bad- because sometimes a combination sounds good in theory but doesn't seem to work when the slice arrives. So consider it carefully. The beer selection is more extensive than the pizza toppings. They work with local distributors to find some really unique beers. If you want to be adventurous, ask one of the bartenders to choose a beer for you. But beware, they will probably choose an expensive bottle! The only cheap domestics they have are Old Style and Mich Ultra... Don't ask for a Bud Light... they don't have it. Alternatives? Try a potato. No kidding. It took me years before I tried the potato. Now I keep going back for more. Hint: Sit at the bar. Then you don't have to wait in line. You still have to fight for their attention, but you should get better service that way. Oh, how I wish they had a "beer only" line. That would solve a lot of problems.

When I saw pics of the bread on Yelp I was wary of it, but it's actually very delicious! Not mushy and has a very unique almost salty flavor. I went with the special and got a slice of pepperoni, a soda, and the aforementioned bread. The pizza was good but not phenomenal. It was cracker-thin which I like. I'd say the whole experience was worth the small price tag.

Love the pizza and wide selection of beer. Thin crust, hand made. Wait time might take longer than a place with wait staff, but it is worth it.

So I've always lived in Lincoln and finally decided to try this place out. First impression, this is a cool place. Ordered food, that was fine, and they have you pay first before receiving food, which was odd because the place has a sit down vibe to it with full service. I found out not full service at all. I ordered two slices and some bread. My name gets called I have to get my order myself, it is just my bread at first. Bread was terrible just plain bread with minced garlic on it, should have got cheese bread. Next my pizza came, and each slice was accompanied by a large piece of bread. I ask myself why didn't the server bother to tell me it came with bread? I could have saved myself money and from wasting food, I cant eat a whole loaf of bread. Second problem no refills offered and I was sitting at the bar for 30 minutes, apparently you have to ask for that too, wouldn't be surprised if they charge you too. Finally I notice people clearing their own plates and bringing them to the dishwasher. Bottom line don't expect an ounce of service here, which doesn't match the atmosphere or prices. Side note the pizza was good. If you are looking for carryout this might be your spot, otherwise they might as well put you behind the counter and give you a paycheck for doing all the work yourself.

I've been to Yiayias countless times during my 5 years at college. I've also seen the whole experience slip downward. Don't get me wrong, their pizza is good- not life changing, but good. The pizzas are large and diverse in toppings. However, what really discourages me from frequenting Yiayia's more is snooty service and hipster attitudes. They know they have something good, and they treat it more like you vs them. Instead of suggesting a beer (which is by far the most interesting and vast in Lincoln) they impatiently wait for you to order something you've never tasted or seen. On my last trip I was treated so rudely, that i spoke up- mentioning to the female manager/owner that it's discouraging to drink, eat and relax in such a strict, unwelcoming environment. I was of course answered with a defenisve response. I really think they loath the fact they are in a college town... Service and work ethic needs serious improvement for me to enjoy my next trip. Notice I didn't degrade the food and beer itself, if you're willing to be uncomfortable for 45 minutes and enjoy some decent pizza, Yiayia's is fine.A great place to try something new, but be wary of hipsters and snooty attitudes.

We've gone back a couple of times now and every pizza I try, I like. The only downside is the up and down to order and get your food. I wish they would offer table service.

Always consistently wonderful! I love this place -- great pizza, a million beers, and, friendly atmosphere. Self-serve pizza. Usually pretty busy so don't be in a rush just to be frustrated. Relax. Enjoy your beer. Enjoy your pizza. Expand your comfort zone and try something out of the ordinary, you might just surprise yourself.

Nothing like my wife's mother (YiaYia) would present. Although the fresh pasta dough was better than the chains, the place was dumpy and dirty. It was a true college bar in a college town, but I had hoped for better. Glad I don't live in Lincoln, since the choices here have been slim.

Yiayia's has succesfully knocked out more than one hangover that I thought was unconquerable! Their beer selection is superb. The food is very, very good. The only downside is that the service can most certainly leave something to be desired. In fact, at times it can be downright rude.

  • Ann E.

Yiayia's is a bit of a dive, but it has a cool atmosphere. It's trendy with college students, especially hipsters. The pizza seems to be thin crust only, but there are a lot of interesting topping combinations to choose from if you're up for a little adventure, and it is tasty. The bread that comes with it is nothing to write home about.

Alright, Yia's Yia's has become a Lincoln legend, and for good reason. I think they have a pretty good package deal going on. It's a great place to go with a group of friends for a casual start to your evening. Enjoy one of their many beers (the biggest selection in Lincoln, I believe), and the staff is very knowledgeable about it. I like asking for their opinion on what to pair with my choice of slice. Generally, I get a damn tasty food and beer pairing. The pizza is not the most amazing pizza you'll ever have, but it's good. It's unique and focuses more on toppings rather than soaking the slice in sauce. The cheese bread is awesome, so definitely order that. Also, they have wonderful baked potatoes which they'll load up with any of their pizza toppings. If you're not into Yia Yia's pizza I would definitely suggest one of their loaded baked potatoes. All in all, this place has a good atmosphere, great brews, simple food and friendly staff.

After hearing a lot of high praise and hype, I was really looking forward to my visit. Too bad reality didn't match the expectations. Soggy crust! The selection of toppings was nice, but not anything to get excited about. I came in expecting brick oven style pizza and ended up with below average, after-hours, drunk college student fare. No question, if I were still a college student, I would dig this place. The beer selection was decent; I'll give 'em that. On a side note...the workers need to wear hair nets!

I am in Lincoln one week out of every month of work and i make sure that I get over to Yiayia's at least once during each of my trips. The pizza is amazing (the American, in particular) and the beer selection is fantastic - second to none in Lincoln, and give larger metros a run for their money. The staff is knowledgeable on their brews and can reccomend some nice choices after a few questions about your preference. Bottom line- go here when in Lincoln!

NY style pizza by the slice or pie. If there is better pizza in Lincoln, I have not had it. Cool interior. Only negative might be some of the hipsters working there seem bothered to be taking your order. No big deal though. I'm not a hipster, I just want a good slice of pizza and this place delivers.

I lived in Lincoln for about four years and this was definitely my favorite place to go eat. Their pizza is excellent, the Francais was my favorite but you really can't go wrong with any of their choices. The best part though is their beer selection. They have something like 300 different beers from around the world available in bottles, I always enjoyed just going to the bar and asking them to pick something out for me. Give them a brief description of what you are looking for and they are good at giving out recommendations for something new to try.

  • Zach B.

I've never seen such a selection of beer! It is honestly overwhelming for a newcomer but cool at the same time. I got suckered into getting a $10 beer the first time and that left me a little miffed. The service is not that great. The pizza is pretty average. It's a thin crust pizza and it's pretty greasy. Be sure to pay attention to the announcements because you have to get your pizza when it is ready.

My husband and some of his family went to Yiayias after a Husker game. The restaurant is in the midst of college town USA but wasn't flooded with kids since they were all too busy drankin' it up. We all split a large pizza and cheesey bread. The cheesey bread was alright but better than Domino's cheesey bread and it came with marinara sauce. As for the pizza it was a thin crust and flavorful. Too bad there isn't a Yiayia's in Omaha when we visit my husband's family. The eatery also had a wide range of beers and wine which worked out perfectly since I was tired of Bud. I had to deduct a point because one of the waiters was a little rude to my brother in law when he requested additional plates for our large party. Not coolio.

I love this place. Francais slice, add bacon. repeat if necessary. DELICIOUS. I love love love the thin crust and the atmosphere is nice. I especially love the decor and the overall attitude of the place is fun and relaxed. you'll find a lot of artsy folk/hipsters hanging out here and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Everyone is nice and I've enjoyed every meal I've had here.

Alas, I didn't drink the Kool-Aid. I've never liked Yiayia's and it seems that everytime a friend had a birthday shindig, they insisted on Yiayia's. The thing is, well, I have to describe their pizza like this: Take a cracker, throw some soggy gunk on it, some toppings, and bake it for about five minutes. That, folks, is what their pizza has been like everytime I went there (and I lived in Lincoln for 10 years). The mad props on the stars, though, goes for their amazing liquor selection. But that's about all this place has going for it. You could easily plod across the street to Lazzari's and get a much more delicious and substantial pizza. Oh, and don't fuck with the people who own this place. I remember a few run ins my posse had back in the day, including one instance where we got kicked off the patio for no good reason at all.

Good brick-oven type slices, pretty inventive, plus I liked the fact that you could get a crazy beer like a Lone Star if the mood struck you. Good pizza for Nebraska, but I took a dear friend from CT there, and by the look on her face...made me realize it's still not as good as any true East Coast slice. Funky decor keeps the doltish away, so it's a good place to escape for an hour

This place has amazing beer from across the country and world. Even better, the bartenders know their stuff. Their pizza also rocks my world. I got one last time with a white sauce, artichoke hearts, turkey sausage, onions, and spinach on their awesome thin crust. This place is a must in downtown Lincoln.

Yia YIa's is the go to place for hipsters, whatever that means. The pizza is the big draw here. You can make about any kind of pizza you desire, choose one of their adventuresome combinations. I tried nuts on my pizza here once on the suggestion of a bartender, and it's become a staple of my pizza order ever since. There are lots of veg options, and even choices for low-carbers or other weird diet fetishists. They even have soy cheese, which tastes, well, like soy cheese. They used to play cool, hip indie rock, but of late they switch to satellite radio and so now there's a lot of crappy 80s music. Once you drink a pint or 5 of their excellent selection of beer, however, the music becomes a non-issue. Pros - Good beer selection, great pizza, lots of options on both beer & pizza Cons - Sometimes their staff is a bit sketchy Tip - Try all your pizza toppings on a baked potato instead of a pizza slice

Do you like beer? How about pizza? If you don't like either, you have serious problems, plus you probably won't like Yiayia's, which is your loss. First of all, the beer. You want to try a bottle of Woodpecker's Nutsack Ale brewed by gnomes in Bolivia? They have it. Pabst Blue Ribbon. Spaten Munich. If they don't have a particular type of beer, you might have a hard time convincing me that said beer even exists. If making a choice between that many beers gives you a headache, the staff are a bunch of drunks who are always willing to give sage recommendations. Then pizza. The pizza is made to order, either by the slice or a whole pie. I would recommend either the pesto or red pesto sauce, if you dig that sort of thing. Experimentation is essential, since I think there are probably no fewer than one billion potential combinations of sauce, cheese, meat and veggies.

I wish I could hitch YiaYia's to the back of my car and bring it to Omaha with me. In fact, if I ever move back to Lincoln, it won't be bc of my family or my friends, it will be because of YiaYai's.

Solid 4 star. First: The beer selection is the best in the city, the only other place that has a selection even close is Myer's Cork and Bottle, and that is a booze store. Fear no beer or refer to the knowledgeable staff for a detailed explanation of what all can hit your palate. Second: You can read any other review to tell how you can get it, I'm here to tell you it tastes great, but with a fair warning that it will stick in your stomach like a brick. A big bonus is it's cheep as hell. Not sure but I think it's around $3 for a slice that has a liberal amount of toppings. Go for the beers, get the pizza if you need food. Oh and don't bring the kids in the evening.

From out-of-town. Read the reviews so thought it would be good. The place is small but has a lot of character. The building is really old. We ordered a pitcher of beer and the Western which is Vegetarian and salads. The salads had obviously been made many hours prior and the lettuce was somewhat wilted. The pizza came with 3 slices of french bread sitting on top - cold, not garlic bread or anything. It was weird and we didn't eat it. The sauce on the pizza had no flavor. It was just tomato sauce. I realized that I don't like broccoli on my pizza. I liked that the crust was very thin. If I lived in Lincoln, I would not go back. The beer was good though.

Great place to go for an exceptional beer selection, thin crust pizza, and pesto cheese bread.

This place is better than Pizza Hut, Dominos, and Papa Johns. I love the thin crust and since I've been in NYC for 2 years now, I have to say Yiayia's isn't too bad.

Love the pizza at this brick-lined eaterie that makes you feel you could be in New York, Chicago, or anywhere else in the world. Lots of combinations (as many as you can dream up!) great bread, thin-crust pizza and lots of ambience. Pool tables in the back and a full bar with the sometimes-hard-to-find Framboise makes this one of my fave places for lunch or a pre-movie slice!

The food is generally excellent. The service is hit and miss; and it is occassionally horrible.

If you read most of the reviews, you will see a lot of variance on the Pizza. The truth is, when yia-yia's cooks the pizza right, it is fantastically good. When they screw it up, it gets pretty screwed up. I have had slices where grease collects under the soggy crust like water or slices with burnt edges. I have also had slices that are absolutely heaven - not too soggy, not too crisp. If anything, there needs to be better quality control in the Kitchen Area, but when the help looks like part-time college kids, I don't know if that will happen. The beers have improved over the years. When I first started going there, I kind of crossed my fingers hoping that the beer wouldn't be skunky. Now, I can't remember the last time I had a skunky beer there, which is pretty good for the large beer selection they have there. Then again, I usually stick towards the heavier and longer lived beers as well.

I love the pizza! Sometimes the service is slow, but the pizza is great, and the ambiance...especially when they play the 80's satellite radio!

Omigod, yum. If I'm going for pizza in Lincoln, it's YiaYia's or nothing. I like to create my own slice: marinara, blue cheese, green olives, capers, pepperoncini and artichokes. Tangy, tangy, tangy! Top it with a hoppy beer...heaven. The tasty side of bread takes is over the top.

Great pizza by the slice. You order it, and then they make it, so be prepared to wait anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes for your food to show. Good news? No over-warmed soggy crust or dehydrated heat lamp cheese. Always fresh. Always hot. They do single slices to full pizzas, just be aware that the thin crust doesn't keep well in the fridge. They serve a roll with each slice, and this is one of the few issues I have with the food. The rolls are hit or miss. You should also check out the cheese bread. The side salads are never really as good as they should be. I also have to mention that they have one of the (the?) largest bottled beer selection in town. My favorite slices are the pacific with chicken (instead of ham) and the american.

To think I came to Lincoln, Nebraska to have one of the best pizza slices ever. They do custom made slices (!) and the crust comes out crusty yet chewy. In other words, perfect. And they have fridges and fridges of beer from everywhere (we had the Rogue Chipotle Brewed Ale). It's kinda perfect.

Easily the best pizza in Lincoln, and probably in the state. Excellent beer selection, and a cool atmosphere. It's not the same without Demetrius' grumpy presence, but still...

YiaYia's is the best place for pizza in Lincoln, and probably Nebraska, too. If you're used to the thick, greasy pop-pizza that we're become accustomed to from places like Pizza Hut or Godfathers, you're in the wrong place. YiaYia's is thin-crust, by the slice pizza that you'd find on the coasts. You can choose your own ingredients, but their "around the world" varieties will probably serve most people just fine. You get a large slice and bread and it'll fill you up fine. The beer selection is largest and most impressive in town and the atmosphere is always friendly and fun. The only reason I can't give YiaYia's five stars is that the quality tends to vary just slightly now and then based on who's cooking. There are better days than others and I have been occasionally let down. But, overall, this is one of the best places in Lincoln and is a classic for a reason.
