Delicious! From the mussels and hummus to my salmon special. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Everything was fresh and healthy. Service was on spot and attentive. And it was affordable! The portions and choices were priced well. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Lincoln!

Absolutely amazing food. Best crab cakes we've ever had. Shrimp & grits, Corvina and pork loin were beyond delicious. Carrot cake (gluten free and vegan) were mouth watering. The wait staff went above and beyond and made us feel like family. A MUST VISIT for any foodie visiting Lincoln.

My husband and I had dinner on a Saturday night a couple of weeks ago. We decided to sit on the patio, which may have been a mistake because service was very slow. I'm not sure if it was just because we were out of our server's line of vision, or because this is how they operate. Our water glasses sat empty for 30 mins before being refilled, we waited a while to even put our order in, it took a while to get our cocktails we ordered, we wanted dessert, but then decided to skip it because we were sick of waiting for the waiter to bring the menu! Overall, the food was very good by Lincoln's standards. We had stuffed jalapenos for an appetizer, which were delicious but VERY spicy (hence why we needed those water glasses filled!) and I had the crab cakes that came with a nice salad.

My triumphant return to Dish for dinner tool place last weekend before a show at the Haymarket Theater. I had the duck (refined fat). Bill had the Korean burger (delicious mess). And we started with the spicy hummus (blue cheese spice city). Maybe those aren't the best adjectives to use but they're all true and meant to be complimentary. This time I enjoyed the hummus a lot more, apparently. And our meals were solid. We had a nice server and good drinks as well, and I would for sure dine at Dish again.

We had the set menu for NYE. We got the tuna and avocado ceviche. Needed more acid. The butternut squash soup with creme fraiche was delicious. My gf had an edamame and bacon salad that was the perfect bite of crunch and smoke. Main course was a disappointing beef enderloin that was mostly fat. My gf had pork wrapped in prosciutto that was phenomenal. Dessert was boring. I'd go back for sure.

Fantastic meal! I had the crispy mango duck, which was so tasty. Crisp (go figure) and flavorful skin, tender juicy meat, and a banging mango sauce! Just wish there had been more of the sauce...I could have bathed in it. The green beans were bright and tender but not mushy, crisp and delicious. I also asked for a different side, and the server easily accommodated me! Delish mashed sweet potatoes. We got there at 6, but they had to have us leave at 7:15 for a private party but I didn't feel rushed at all. I feel like I still got the full experience. I found so many scrumptious sounding dishes on the menu, I'll have to go back and try something else...maybe the bacon wrapped scallops and shrimp, the grilled duck, the Asian grill...something on the menu for every taste!

We went in a Monday evening prior to New Year's Eve. We had reservations for 6:30. We ordered an appetizer of bacon wrapped dates which were great. Ordered a bottle of cab but can't remember which one! The four of us had various entrées of beef, salmon, and pasta. All great flavor and cooked to our liking. Forgot to take photos too. Sorry about that. I never forget except this one time. We didn't order dessert. Service was great. No issues. This was our second trip to this place in as many years. We should go more often. Highly recommended. Not very expensive.

I was working in Lincoln and went to Dish on a recommendation from someone with whom I was working. Finding decent places to eat while traveling for work is not always easy, but Dish was a winner for several reasons. First, the food was great. I had the crispy mango duck, which lived up to its billing. Second, the young woman behind the bar made an excellent Hendricks gibson, even though she admitted to not being fond of gibsons herself. Third, the people were very friendly and welcoming (as most of the people I crossed paths with in Lincoln seemed to be), making it a very pleasant experience. Fourth, the atmosphere was pleasant, comfortable, not noisy, very nice. But the topper was this: I left my sunglasses there, and when I called from 500 miles away, they offered without hesitation to mail them to me. That was very cool. I will be back, and I'll bring people with me. Thank you, Dish folks!

All around an excellent eatery. Fantastic, attentive service, diverse menu, and excellently executed food. An excellent restaurant for anything from dates to business meetings.

Its been a long time since I've been to Dish, or at least that location, I know I'd been there when it was under a different name/management. I didn't remember it being particularly remarkable back then. I definitely remember now. The food was fantastic. I particularly liked the special beef tenderloin with some kind of spicy BBQ sauce. It was awesome. Its pricey, but I definitely recommend Dish.

This might be the best restaurant in Lincoln. They have a terrific menu, staff, and ambience. This place is perfect for a date. Scallop bruschetta (appetizer), duck, and beef tenderloin are all top notch.

I absolutely love this restaurant, however, last night I had the best experience I've ever had there and had to share it! I got off of work late and my friend and I wanted to grab dinner. We saw that Dish was open until 9:30 so we decided to go. When we got there the staff had been closing the restaurant down because they didn't have any customers. We asked if they were still open and they said they were closing. We said okay and that we'd come back another time, but they replied no that it was okay and sat us anyways. Our waiter, Rob, was fantastic. He didn't rush us or skimp on the service just because we were the last ones there and they wanted to go home. He gave us drink recommendations , and when asked what was easiest for them to make he said "anything, don't worry about it. " He brought us our appetizer and changed out the small plates for warm ones because he said they were too cold. :) The food was amazing as usual. I recommend the Plum Creek chicken breast. When we finished eating, he cleared our plates and we got everything ready to pay for when he came back with the check. Instead he came over with the dessert tray and when we said we didn't want to keep him longer (the kitchen staff had all left), he said he had to do a few things anyways and asked us what we wanted for dessert. Rob bent over backwards for us and it didn't go unnoticed or unappreciated. I have never had such great service in my life! I hope the owners/management of the restaurant realize what a fantastic employee they have. He is definitely an asset to their team! I know wait staff works on tips, but this guy deserves a raise! Thanks Rob!

I went recently to Dish, being from San Francisco I can be a bit critical of restaurants when I travel. This restaurant deserves no criticism, it is fantastic! I had the shrimp and scallop risotto and I can not wait to go back. They have a very friendly staff and a number of reasonably price wine options. Certainly the best food in Lincoln that I have had.
(5)Terrance B.
Excellent find! Crab cakes just right, lots of lump crab, curry shrimp bisque excellent. Great service and nice menu options for good ole downtown Lincoln. Prices about half of other cities (Omaha included).

I decided to treat myself after all of the high school basketball teams decided to take over my hotel. It was pretty empty on a week night so I had no problem getting seated without reservations. The waitress came to see what I wanted to drink, but I had already made up my mind on the crispy mango duck. I love mangos and I love duck so that was a pretty easy choice and it did not disappoint. I loved the crispy duck skin with the sweet flavoring of the mango glaze sauce. It reminded me of peking duck at chinese restaurants, with out the buns... and it was all for myself. I do admit it's more on the pricy side, but I think it's worth it.

Best scallops I've ever had in my life, couldn't believe I had to go to NE to find them! :)
(4)Ron G.
The shrimp Caesar salad has the best variety of ingredients I have ever encountered. The shrimp was excellent and there were at least six medium shrimp. It was tasty with many different, pleasant tastes.

food was amaze. little crowded, tables close to each other etc.... but fantastic menu. pricey. worth it.

Dish is, in Lincoln terms, *expensive.* Luckily, it's good enough that I didn't feel totally robbed. One of the very few places in town that I would consider upscale. I took my girlfriend here yesterday for a nice dinner. We got in around 5:30, and the place was hardly a third full. I really liked the interior; very modern and elegant, but with a dash of casual decor. It's dark and ambient, with good mood lighting. There are also various multicolored paintings lining the walls, giving it that swanky feel. The mirror behind the full bar has etched glass, with shapes that could either represent a city skyline, or couples holding hands. It was nice and upscale, without being over-the-top or pretentious. The menu is rather spendy, but it all looks appetizing. For drinks I got the Gin Fizz ($9), and she got the Rum Punch Martini (~$8). Mine was interesting, took a few sips to get used to. It was Bombay Sapphire gin, cream and a mint sprig, and was smooth and refreshing. The lady's drink came with a plastic skewer with three dum dum's, and she said it was good and fruity. And now for the actual food. I ordered the grilled duck breast ($24), and she ordered the braised short ribs ($24). While we waited, which was not long at all, the waitress brought out some rolls, butter, olive oil and vinegar. The rolls were pretty good. When our food finally came out, I was delighted at the presentation, even if the portions were a bit on the small side. The duck slices themselves seemed reasonable, and were very tender and delicious. The sauteed spinach and mashed sweet potatoes were somewhat lacking in quantity, although decent in quality. My girlfriend said her short ribs and broccoli were very good, as well. For desert, the waitress brought out a try of all the samples, and we selected the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream (~$5). It came out on a nice blue glass dish, and not only looked amazing, but tasted amazing, too. My ladyfriend pointed out that the waitress did her job perfectly, and showed just the right amount of attention. She was attentive and friendly, but didn't hover unnecessarily. All in all, the damage came out to 76 bucks for the two of us. Definitely not cheap, but for a once-in-a-blue-moon outing, I didn't mind too much. It was a wonderful experience.

The crispy duck was sensational, The pot creme was superb, service was terrific! Very nice downtown restaurant!

One of the best restaurants in Lincoln. Every menu item I have tried is fantastic, try the duck! Great downtown location with great ambience and service.

Stopped off in Lincoln for some Dinner on route to Omaha and after an excruciatingly dull drive from Denver. I'm a Seagan and the restaurant catered for my dietary requirements extremely well. The service was friendly and efficient. It's a pretty hip spot and the food was well on par. I started with the Humus and followed up with the fish special. Not sure I'll be returning to Lincoln however thanks to the drunken (or insane) local that tried to fight me just outside. I think his name was Jed.

Having dinner with my co-worker on Wednesday. I had the Mango duck and dessert. The food and service is good. The price is pretty high even for the big cities like Los Angeles or New York. Overall, we had a good experience.

Very disappointing. Had heard such great things, but from the reception, to the service, to the food, less than expected. We called for a reservation at 6pm, but were told they could only accommodate us at the bar. When we got there, the hostess was curt when we noted more than half the tables were empty, and pointed us to two seats (in the circulation path for everyone entering the restaurant) at the end of the bar (which was empty except for 3 women on the other end having drinks). We took it upon ourselves to move to more central seats. The bartender was attentive, and offered the night's specials of a peppered NY strip steak in a mustard cabernet sauce or crab legs with butter; both with sides of potatoes and Brussels sprouts. We thought those both sounded good, a nice shared surf & turf way to celebrate the Valentine's Day weekend. However, the steak was barely rare (ordered medium rare) flavorless (if there was a peppercorn anywhere on my plate, I never found it), full of gristle, soggy (not the typical firm of a good cut), and the worst example of a NY strip I've ever had. The crab legs were luke warm. Sad to say we'd ever go back when the best part of the meal were the Brussels sprouts. And while we had a fairly leisurely meal, there were at least 4 two-top table empty for the entire time we were in the restaurant. We left saying we won't be back.

Great cocktails and great food - what's not to like! I was in Lincoln on business and had the evening by myself. I'd walked by Dish on my earlier visits and decided to try it out this time. I was there on a Wednesday night, and it was fairly quiet, which suited me as I pulled up a seat at the bar. I was greeted by Teresa behind the bar and quickly learned that she had the cocktail mixing chops to go with the excellent selection of liquor and liqueurs behind the bar. She made me a two speciality cocktails, with a Scapa single malt whiskey sandwiched in between, and all were excellent. The off menu dinner and dessert specials that she suggested were also spot on. The shrimp and scallps were perfectly grilled and served with jasmine rice, spinach and a pepper pesto type creation. The portion size was just right. Dessert was an amazing homemade vanilla ice cream on top of a pecan chocolate brownie with rasberries, black cherries and an incredible Bailey's Irish Cream sauce. It was awesome! I"m looking forward to my next trip to Lincoln -- Thanks Teresa!

Food was decent, not very flavorful and very over prices. My server was subpar. Nice atmosphere.

Our favorite Lincoln restaurant. There is always a seasonal menu change of multiple entrees, but also a standard entree menu of favorites remains constant. The scallop bruschetta appetizer is to die for, and we get it every time we go. Service is great, atmosphere is great, and the cocktail menu is great. Of all the "nice" Lincoln restaurants, this is the one we have been to the most.

Dinner date with my hubby, we decided we would try this place out. Our server was very knowledgable and nice. The menu doesn't have a large selection but I ordered a steak and my husband ordered a seafood medley. The food was good but portions were small. I normally leave most places with at least half of my meal in a to go container and my husband and I both finished our meals and would have liked more. I would go back if for the price they had a little more variety and bigger portions. All in all not bad but way to expensive for me.

Enjoyed dinner at Dish last night. Nice restaurant, friendly host staff, good food server and very, very good, reasonably priced meal and dessert. I chose a glass of Matua Sav Blanc and the seared scallops served with a pea puree, Israeli couscous, and a shaved beet and fennel salad. I asked to have the couscous to be subbed with the Parmesan polenta and the food server, Nick, made the substitution without hesitation. Wine was a quite good Sav from NZ. Food arrived in just a few minutes. The scallops were served over the polenta, with the puree on the side. Good idea. I did have to send the scallops back to be finished cooking. They were too translucent, even for me. Nick took them back immediately. They came back perfectly cooked. Rest of the meal was great. I chose the creme brulee for dessert. Classic and not crowded with "nouvelle cuisine" add ons. Everything was delicious. Bravo. Thank you, Dish!

One of the few true foodie places in Lincoln, NE, where you can get an excellent meal. It's not perfect - and if this were NY City or Seattle, it might have a lot of stiff competition - but for Lincoln it's definitely deserving of a high rating. Servers are and bartenders definitely know their stuff. I've had dishes with scallops twice and am always amazed you can get scallops this good in this part of the country. My only complaint is that the side items are a little unimaginative and repetitive. About every other dish is offered with broccoli, the freshness and flavor of which is always good, but which is served with no creativity - just plopped on the dish with no fanfare at all. That's the sort of ingredient presentation and usage I'd expect at my 90 year old grandma's house for Sunday dinner.

When I'm up for a high class dining experience I go to this restaurant and it never fails to deliver. The Mango Duck with Basmati rich is the dish I get time after time and it's consistently good. My wife get's the Asian Seafood Medley and it can be hit and miss. The service can be a little slow when it's busy but they are not pretentious and bloated like JTK's. If you want a classy night out in Lincoln this is the spot, it blows the doors off the Venue.

You mean instead of fatty fries a fresh quinoa salad (complete with a perfect tomato and cucumber dice) comes with my falafel sandwich? You mean it's not just a standard run-o-the-mill falafel? You made a SRIRACHA inspired hummus to cover the warm pita!!! This is about at the point in which I burst out into the food giggles. Dish is a shiny jewel in the middle of downtown Lincoln. I want to transplant it on my street in Chicago and eat there as much as possible. We waited too long for our check (hello, have you heard of a business lunch?) but that was ok, I was still ecstatic over the quinoa!

I have always stated that if God wanted us to be vegetarians he would of have veggies come from cows. The steak dinner is the manliest of all meals and dish can make the "girliest" of guys be a man for a few hours. This place is OUTSTANDING, yes I gave it an OUTSTANDING. The food and service were a great complement to one another and of course the wine list was well paired. kudos to my friend Perry for introducing me!
(4)Denise B.
Dish is alright - the wine selection is great (they even have Opus, if you can afford it) and the atmosphere is very posh. They are even open over lunch - which is great for business meetings downtown. That's really the extent of my praise for Dish, and it makes me sad. I went here expecting gourmet food, and what I found was bar/grill style food with fancy names and nicer garnishes. If you're going to dinner with someone who is afraid of edgy cuisine Dish is a safe bet, because even if you call them pomme frites, they're still just french fries.

After eating at tons of places on a trip to Colorado this was our last stop on the way back home. EVERYTHING we ordered was VERY good. The consistency deserves 5 stars in my opinion. Pear Martini: 5 stars Strong and my favorite drink of the entire trip. Nothing THAT special, just plain good. Crab cakes: 4 stars I thought they had excellent flavor but friend wasn't as thrilled. Scallop bruschetta: 5 stars Only because it was so simple but the bread and scallops were done PERFECTLY. Seafood Penne Pasta: 4.5 stars Im being picky by not giving this 5 stars. Read the ingredients - that's exactly what you get and everything works together extremely well. I also had one bite of the beef tenderloin and would give It 4.5 stars. You don't get much better while keeping the real flavor of the beef.

We arrived with a party of four, no reservations, and the place was empty. We wanted to eat but the hostess said they had a full house that evening and we would have to be out by 715. Really?!?! Limiting how long a customer can stay? So, we each had an $8 drink, as we were waiting for one more in our party, and took our business down the street (Marz bar) and spent well over $200. We walked by on our way to the show, ~730pm, and saw at least four tables of four EMPTY!!!! Turning away business... Epic Failure!!! I've eaten at several restaurants the same caliber as The Dish and even with reservations, I end up waiting almost 30 minutes for my table. That's why there's a full bar! I'm giving one star not for the food (didn't get a chance to eat), but for the service. Management needs to take a hard look at the direction given to the front of the house. Of course, if they don't care, they'll contniue to lose out on potential business.

I ate dinner with my mother at Dish mid-July so this review is unfortunately reliant on my spotty memory, but I will definitely be dining here again soon! The decor was modern, not unique exactly, but comfortably familiar to some of the high-end restaurants I love so much in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Brooklyn. Everyone inside seem to be quite relaxed and in a mixture of casual/business attire. Our waiter was quite helpful and friendly. We were in the mood to pepper him with all sorts of questions and he gave us insightful opinions of different dishes. The menu was interesting, including a spicy blue cheese hummus that we didn't decided to save for when my father comes to town. My mother ordered the tomato basil soup and the daily fish special, while I chose the potato leek soup du jour and the crispy mango duck. Everything that we ate was delicious and immaculately prepared. I was particularly please with the duck skin -- cooked to perfection! Bottom line: this will be one of my go-to "special" event spots. Wish I could eat here more regularly, but that's just not possible on a grad student's stipend!

We went here for a celebratory dinner on a recent Thursday evening. The dining room was maybe one-third full at 8:00. The hostess correctly guessed our names as we entered and promptly seated our group of four. Our server (who later said he is a 10-year staff member) was amazing. He explained with exquisite detail the specials for the night and then let us peruse the menu for nearly 30 minutes without getting impatient. He even humored us by fielding a couple of oddball questions -- "Where does the duck come from?" We were just curious and not being nit picky in any way. Speaking of the duck, we ordered it, along with a coupe of seafood dishes. After he brought our food to us, our server noticed that two of us had already finished our glasses of wine. He brought us two on the house and said, "You really need a nice grenache to go with that duck." The food was, sadly, not all that memorable (and not because we drank too much wine). It was nicely presented and tasty, but no one at our table gushed at all about their dishes. And the service, while wonderful, doesn't really make up for the shortcomings of the food, especially considering the $200 check. Fine dining in Lincoln really isn't up to the standards of a larger city. Maybe one day that will change but for now you're better off spending your cash at a more reasonably priced business where you get more value.

I have tried Dish twice, once for dinner and once for lunch. I definitely favored my lunch experience. For dinner I ordered a chicken dish with a sauce that was bland and nothing to shout about at all. The mashed potatoes that came along with it were fantastic as was the bread with our meal. The service was good and very efficient even though they were quite busy. This was the first time I had been to Dish and was very excited about trying it. This meal left me wishing I'd gone down the street a ways to spend my 40 dollars at The Bread and Cup instead. Round two: I ate lunch here and enjoyed myself much more. I had a wonderful salad that was light, fresh, crisp and had a wonderful mix of ingredients. Not too much of anything, and a great dressing on the side. The service was once again very good. I'll eat here again, but more than likely for lunch only.

My 89-year-old date and I both had the Corned Beef and Cabbage last week. It was, in a word, extraordinary; like you've never tasted corned beef before. That, and a couple glass of Malbec each and it was a truly memorable meal. I know it sounds like a mundane order but I'm telling you, it was a GREAT taste treat.

Enjoy going to dish. Had a kimchee cheeseburger recently and it was very good. They have a nice outside seating area in the summer.

Great food, great ambiance, terrific prices. Just tried this place last week on the advice of a friend and went back the very next day. The signature cocktails are terrific (I had a Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) and for only $8.50, you can't beat the price. I can't speak to all of the dishes, but I loved the grilled shrimp salad and ordered it again the next day. Hummus appetizer was also good. I live in L.A. and maybe it just reminds me of a hip L.A. restaurant but with Nebraska prices. This is a great place for a date or just to meet up with friends. The only oddity is that they shut down between lunch and dinner.

In a nutshell, 2.5 stars rounded up to 3 at best. When we stopped to have dinner here on Friday evening 9-11-2009 it was clearly obvious that all of the staff is undertrained for a supposedly swanky dining establishment. I realize some if not all of the staff are likely new recruits with the local university starting up again, but this is no excuse. Not that anybody did anything grossly wrong, but they were better suited for Applebee's with regard to polish and technique. It also didn't suit me well that the overall pretentiousness of the other dining guests this evening was so thick you could cut it with a knife. My companion mentioned it to me just before the almost same exact words rolled out of my mouth. It seemed to us as if DISH is a place where going to see and be seen is more important than actually dining. We also both found the menu to be as underwhelming as the overall atmosphere. The menu was also well used and a bit tattered, which gives a bad impression for meals at this price range. We both ordered the 8 oz. tenderloin entree, which is served with mashed potatoes, broccoli, and some type of demi glace for $27.95 per order. As usual, I ordered mine Pittsburg Rare, but I also asked if I could have the broccoli substituted with green beans since I had seen them offered on another entree. The server said the green beans would be no problem and even though she clearly didn't have any idea about what a Pittsburg Rare steak preparation is, she wrote it down anyways. We received warm bread and butter while waiting for our meals to arrive, which they did in a reasonable amount of time. Upon receiving our meals the first words out of my companion's mouth are, "Weren't you supposed to get green beans rather than broccoli?" True enough, but I told her I wasn't that hungry anyways. I had no intention of mentioning it myself, but later when the server came by to check up on us my friend pointed out the error. The server's reply was,"The Chef's were so excited to be preparing a Pittsburg Rare steak they must have overlooked the green bean request on the ticket". Well I guess they also made her so excited that she forgot to notice herself before serving my meal. I'm sorry, but the server is responsible for verifying that the meal is plated properly before serving it to the guest. This was just one of several examples I could parlay with regard to my earlier comments on staff training. On a more positive note my Pittsburg Rare tenderloin was perfectly prepared and the kitchen also gets another gold star for holding the demi glace on the side, which I had forgotten to request. However, my companions medium rare tenderloin was only eaten around the sides beause the center was clearly dark red rare, which she doesn't care for. The mashed potatoes were done well, though they could have been a bit more generous on the portion size. All in all, DISH was a bit of a disappointment for me. It just struck me as a dining establishment that wants to operate at a high level, but is not properly executed in a variety of areas that a high level dining experience requires. Until this occurs DISH is, just like some of it's customers, a wannabe pretender. I will likely give DISH another shot the next time I'm in Lincoln, but if my experience isn't any better then it will be my last. There are too many other places in Lincoln to get both a good meal and overall dining exerience for the same or less money.

DISH......ONE WORD well I guess more then one. Its simply one of the best restaurants in Lincoln. The service is fantastic, the food even better, and they have a great wine list. If you haven't ever been to Dish check it out this weekend!

One of a handful of first class places in Lincoln. They take and respect reservations, Food is excellent and service very good. The price is a little higher and quanities less than the casual stand in line for 30 minute on friday and saturday night places but they also dont; make you stand in line and don;t make it noisey and flip the tables every 45 minutes. So if you want to make a reservation, enjoy excellent food, fine wine and conversation o here. One of the few places in lincoln that offer a fine dining experience. Looks even better since the remodel. (decor is not updated on web site) The shrimp and blue salad is a favorite and the stuffed jalepeno apetizers are fantastic. But you gotta like spice to like those but they are superb. I think I'll go again this week! See you there.

Unfortunately for me, I always forget about this place when it comes to selecting a restaurant. This is an elegant, modern and creative restaurant, a great addition to Lincoln's dining scene. The menu is varied, with interesting cocktails, sandwiches, entrees and salads. The last time I was here I started with a mixed green salad with buttermilk-pumpkin seed dressing. Unfortunately, it was nothing to write home about. My entree was the falafal sandwich, which seemed under-dressed until I bit in. It was deliciously spiced with cilantro and drizzled with Thai Sriracha. One of the nicest things about this place is that it does serve lowered priced and lighter fare. Sometimes I just want a creative sandwich, not a $30 steak. This is a nice place to impress out-of-town guests, who think that Nebraska is hicksville or full of steakhouses. Wait staff are knowledgeable, friendly and serious about doing their jobs well.

Consistantly great food. Scallops are always perfect. Great atmosphere. This restaurant has staying power for a reason. Travis and Tyler are an unstoppable duo.

I have not been to the dish is a few years. The food has only gotten better and the ambiance greatly improved with the new lighting, remodeling and color scheme. Chef Green and the wait staff were very attentive. We had varied menu items, all of which were very good with great presentation. In the dessert area we had the Key Lime Tart and hazelnut / chocolate Tart...wow! We will definitely stop in more often as we travel through Lincoln. M., Denver

This place was ok, nothing special. For being in Nebraska I was a little skeptical anyway (sorry Nebraska), but Dish didn't show my any different. I ordered the Blue and Shrimp Salad, the veggies were fresh, the shrimp were soaking drenched in butter which made me glad that I got the dressing and the cheese on the side. The service was a 5 star, hands down!

Visited on a Saturday night around 8 PM. The place was only about half-full, though we were certainly not the last party to be seated. They did seem to do a good job catering to the later crowd. Our experience was far from perfect, however. Calling the service "standoffish" would be a compliment. Our server was rude to us from the moment I asked for another glass of water because the one she brought me had something floating in it. From that point forward, she did only the bare minimum to fulfill her job duties. Other servers there seemed much friendlier, and even she seemed to be more outgoing toward her other tables. We started with the crab dip, which was a greasy, broken mess. Honestly, it looked like cat food and didn't taste much better on the cold slices of garlic toast. The highlight of my meal was the vegetable beef soup, which, (unsurprisingly) our server did NOT point out, was made from smoked beef; it lended a nice roundness to the broth. Unfortunately, this was the point in the meal when our server brought some rock-hard bread and rancid olive oil over to the table. The act of setting down the bread basket knocked over the drink list, which she had forgotten to take. This, in turn, spilled over my half-full beer bottle. At this point, she took away the drink list and muttered, "I'll get you some seltzer." Great, another two items she'd forget to clear from the table all night. As for our main courses, my companion had the Asian Sea Grill. Everything on it was well-cooked and flavorful, especially the scallops. Unfortunately, the shrimp were poor-quality and grainy. I am not a vegetarian, but noticed they had three veg-friendly dishes on the main menu. I ordered the Curried Tofu out of curiosity, and it was actually quite good - both complex and satisfying enough that I did not miss the meat in my main course. For dessert, we shared a Baked Alaska, which was good but not great - heavy on the orange sherbet and light on the spongecake around the edges. Still, points for bringing vintage desserts back into fashion. With all of this costing about $50/person (with a drink each), there are many other places in town I'd rather give my money for better food and service. My feelings were confirmed as we left and not one of the three people mulling around the host stand thanked us for our visit.

This is my choice for finer dining in town. It's not on the same page as places in Chicago or the bay area, but it is my top pick for special occasion dining. It tops JTK or the Venue by far. You'll be delighted by the food. I've had two different types of duck each time, my girl friend has had fish or seafood each trip. If you're in the mood for well prepared food for a classy night, this is the place. Service is good and the wine list is OK. I'd like to see a prefix menu more often, I've never encountered one at Dish. Make reservations or come early.

A trendy and classy atmosphere. Great service, and great food. I recommend any of the steaks with mashed potatoes. Great location for being downtown and especially before a movie.

It's no secret at work that I spend a good chunk of non-chargeable time reading, writing, and reviewing my favorite spots, so when you're co-workers find out you Yelp, be prepared to be the Chosen One for picking restaurants. If you find yourself in Lincoln, this place is a must. Why? If for anything, for the boursin mashed potatoes. To die for. I don't even like mashed potatoes. It's a texture thing. Weird textures make me make funny faces and it's quite embarrassing to look it. This one time at a restaurant not to be disclosed I ordered a piece of brisket that was entirely too chewy and fatty for me. It was kind of expensive and I did not want my dining companion to know and so I tried with all my desperate might to conceal the fact that I was hardcore gagging and wishing for time to go at lightning speed so I could be done with dinner. Mashed potatoes used to make me feel that way, but now I see the light a little more, and have accepted it as a part of many meals. Aside from, I absolutely loved my salmon and found it to be the perfect size and flavor. Others were impressed with their chicken dish. Someone ordered blue cheese hummus but I hate blue cheese so I didn't touch it. But they said it was good, so... go for it! The menu was not overly adventurous but be adventurous and get something de-lish. On the negative, service was a little slow. Maybe they saw we were all co-workers and decided we wanted to spend a little more time together to talk about non-work things. Unfortunately, we had been together 11 hours already, so the best that could happen was intermittent conversation here and there, and staring at the bizarre clock on the wall above the entrance. Time ticked slowly by... slowly, slowly, slowly. Next time, hopefully more speedy. All in all a great find. Just make sure you get those potatoes.

Dish is a quality dining experience for a reasonable price. Returning to Lincoln after moving back from LA I have been devastated as to what people think is quality dining...That was until I found Dish. It came highly recommended to me from numerous friends and I could not have been more pleased with the quality and attention that Dish puts into your experience. I was taken care of by a profession bartender named Emerson and even had the owner/chef Travis asking me if everything was perfect. This place could hang with all the great restaurants of LA...do not miss an opportunity to eat here.

(4)Jesse G.

The shrimp Caesar salad has the best variety of ingredients I have ever encountered. The shrimp was excellent and there were at least six medium shrimp. It was tasty with many different, pleasant tastes.

(5)Mallory C.

(4)Adrian B.

M., Denver

First time visit and probably last. Greeted with "Do you have a reservation?" Versus a nice hello. We did have a reservation. The place isn't very big so tough to determine why it took so long to get our drinks and food. Food tastes better when you're hungry, due to the wait, so tough to tell if it really was all that good. Staff showed no smiles and they appeared to be annoyed by the guests...stuffy. Lincoln is pathetic on restaurants and everyone in this town eats out. If you get a decent review from LJS your business will survive regardless of class or service. Skip The Dish. Visited Capital City Grill on Friday night and the staff was friendly and the food excellent. Seemed like they cared and smiles around. Passed about four Dish staff on the way out and not one made an effort to thank us for visting. They didn't care and neither do I...Omaha is only 45 minutes away.

We showed up at DISH on a Thursday night without a reservation. The dining room was busy with a few rather large tables and several two-tops. Thinking we were going to be turned away (due to our poor planning), we were happy when we were graciously offered a table in the bar area and we were promptly seated. Being seated in the "bar area" was not at all bad for many reasons: it's not really a bar area as there are no stools at the bar so the potential of being annoyed by someone who's been drinking at the bar since the five o'clock whistle blew is pretty slim. The "bar area" is pleasantly intimate, and the level of service offered was top notch. I think I'll request a table in the bar area the next time I actually do call ahead for a reservation. As for the food, I'm a finicky diner. I tend to deconstruct every item on the plate --and well, I'm a little judgemental and picky when it comes to food. I figure if I'm going to spend $25 or more for a plate of food, it better live up to the description on the menu and my expectations. We started with a nice glass of wine and some warm and crusty bread while we waited for our food. Our mains came out of the kitchen within about 15 minutes - quite impressive considering the fact their tables were full. I'm not going to lie, when our food came out so quickly, my initial thought was that they were trying to rush some small tables out of the way so they could focus on the two large groups. Nothing was rushed about our meal. I had an asian pan-seared seafood dish. The scallops were impeccibly seared - just perfect. The salmon was perfectly prepared as well. My meal was served with jasmine sticky rice and sauteed bok choy - both of which were nice companions to my seafood. The food, paired with the fantastic and attentive service led to a great evening out...worth every penny spent. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was due to a bit of grit in my scallops and the shrimp was a tad overcooked. I'll be back - and soon. Thanks for a nice night out and keep up the good work!

The Dish is one of Lincoln's finest restaurants. The menu ranges from a falafel sandwich, to mango duck, to pan roasted tofu, to a tenderloin. The atmosphere is trendy and the wait staff is great. There is no dress code but dressing nice is recommended. Prices are high by Lincoln standards but reasonable by big city standards. Given that I would recommend this restaurant in Minneapolis or Chicago, it is a no-miss if you are in Lincoln on business or if you live here and need a nice dinner location.

Great place. We (party of 6) dined there on Wednesday April 29th and enjoyed it. Good food, great selection, speed of service was about right, personable server, and good atmosphere. We had heard a little about DISH from some others at the industry conference we were attending and I walked by it about 5:30pm heading to my hotel to look up a place for dinner for the six of us. When I walked by the delicious smells outside was enough to entice me into the restaurant to make a RSVP for 7:45pm. We arrived at 7:45pm and were immediately seated. We ordered scallop toast as well as crab cake appetizers. Both GREAT. For entrées I had the steak with chimichurri sauce, one person had the duck, another two the scallops, and the last two had the chicken and the risotto. Everyone thought the food was well presented, about right for the $$ spent, and ate every drop of it. We enjoyed the dinner very much. We didn't order any desserts but saw a couple of deserts that almost had us. Back to my hotel by 9pm, so service had to been about typical for such an establishment. Many years I come to Lincoln on business for a day or three. When I return, I will also return to DISH.

I've eaten dinner here many times with associates from work. I don't recall any of our party not being satisfied with the experience. The appetizers and entrees are flavorful and imaginative. I particularly like the mango duck, I've had it several times and it is consistently prepared and delicious. The service is polite and proper. Their Rodney Strong Pinot Noir is a great complement to many dishes (no pun), I like that when you walk in, the kitchen is visible behind a glassless window in the opposite wall. I like a place that dares to show the kitchen! It's a bit pricey, but the food; atmosphere; and service are first rate. Make a special night of it and enjoy!

I've been dying to try this place and a few weeks ago a couple friends recommended we do dinner here as it's one of their favorites. The atmosphere has a simple elegance feel. The tables are spacious and chairs comfortable. We were quickly greeted and didn't wait at all for a table. Our server was very pleasant and our order was taken quickly. You can bring your own bottle of wine, but there is a bottle opening fee (15.00), so not sure how much it ends up being worth it but it is an option. There are a lot of gf options already labeled on the menu and then the server informed me that some items can be easily made gluten free if I really wanted them. I had the pan seared scallops and risotto which was amazing. The scallops were huge and perfectly cooked and the risotto was delicious. I also had the creme brûlée for dessert which was pretty good. One of my friends also had the scallops and the other had the steak salad and both were happy with their choices. Portion sizes were pretty much perfect and cost is slightly pricey but well worth it for the quality, flavor, and portion size. Overall I was very pleased and look forward to returning soon.

Dish is a lovely place for a special occasion. My husband and I visited during Restaurant Week and for our anniversary. The piergoies are very tasty. The downside is the price/portion ratio. The sizes don't need to be huge but they are pretty small for the amount you're paying (outside of a major big city).

Dish is consistently in my top three restaurants in Lincoln. I appreciate the variety that the menu offers. Wine and cocktail options are plentiful and the staff are experienced professionals. They always put their best foot forward for their customers.

Wow this place impressed me. I went in with high expectations (after hearing from multiple people that this is the top spot in town), and they didnt disappoint. Extremely pricey, but it was expected. I ordered the special. It was a seared duck with some sort of blackberry sauce with a poached egg, spinach, and peanut salad. Best meal I've had in a while but g darn did we pay for it. It was like $80 for the two of us, including 2 brew dogs and 2 glasses of wine. My fiance ordered the steak. It was good but not the best steak I've ever had. The 5 star solely comes from my plate, because it was amazing. I wore a hooded sweatshirt and felt very underdressed. Its super classy inside, most people were wearing collars. Great place for special occasions, but I won't be eating there often due to the hefty pricetag.

(5)Pat Y.

(5)J C.
Enjoy going to dish. Had a kimchee cheeseburger recently and it was very good. They have a nice outside seating area in the summer.
(4)Christine C.

M., Denver

(3)Ben H.
DISH......ONE WORD well I guess more then one. Its simply one of the best restaurants in Lincoln. The service is fantastic, the food even better, and they have a great wine list. If you haven't ever been to Dish check it out this weekend!
(5)Darin H.

Wonderful food and service. A must visit

(5)Poncho C.

(5)Hal S.
(4)Sara F.
Delicious! From the mussels and hummus to my salmon special. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Everything was fresh and healthy. Service was on spot and attentive. And it was affordable! The portions and choices were priced well. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Lincoln!
(5)Stephanie T.
(5)Elisabeth E.

(4)Cindy C.
Dish is consistently in my top three restaurants in Lincoln. I appreciate the variety that the menu offers. Wine and cocktail options are plentiful and the staff are experienced professionals. They always put their best foot forward for their customers.
(5)Charlie W.

(4)Cathy B.
(3)Natalie E.

Thanks Rob!
